The selectors resisted the temptation to tinker that suggests full support for the birds and Jennings although they still have some work to do to serve an all important ashes places and also for best out late but successful arrival at number 3. Radio 7. 522 stepping into the studio in just over an hour from now to tell us what's coming up on the early light show from 7 let's get some health news now because in the magic sea assessment you know has been created for elderly patients at Southampton General Hospital to give them quick access to treatment patients over the age of 80 and now moved on arrival to a new frailty unit based in acute medicine will the 5 bed facility County operates for 8 hours a day but is expected to extend to 12 hours a day over the next few months let's find out a little bit more about it I'm joined on the line by Dr Daniel consultant geriatrician at Southampton General Hospital down really good to talk to you thanks to come. The pride can tell me more about how this works on. Pleasure labor Thanks for inviting me to talk about this we're really excited that this unit is all about providing you know really good high quality cats are owed people who present in crisis to other measures the department of Southampton. The basic principle is if you're an older passon something has gone wrong with you you've got an illness. You're needing lots of support lots of them but very normally the measures which apartment does not provide it's the environment. Where you are best lets officer what we're trying to do is we're trying to get older people when they present state emergency department and and move them through the imaginary Department very quickly and into a path of spelt environment where they get a specialist team of doctors nurses statisticians social workers a stressed these people really quickly and come up with a sensible and clear time it does sound like a sensible plan to do this how long has it taken to actually get this to happen that well we've had to we've had a consultant geriatricians And in fact consultants a lot of different other specialties working in conjunction side by side with of agency doctors So yes now they're actually to develop a specific unit has taken the best spots of the year survey Pratt's have up and running with just frustrated that it's if any 8 hours come in they have priority now is to get it to 12 hours a day and you can find beds in this particular department is not going to make a real difference it doesn't the same a lot. Nicer So these are not bad said where patients will stay it's just an area where we can bring patients out of the emergency department get them to a safe quiet calm environment assess them and then we come out with a clear plan and very often people they need to come into hospital and what we can do is we can link him with all the good services available at the CUNY. even street of i git buy cheap aids of provided by comedic you nasa's and we can help people get out of hospital and avoid their mission over together that will get tree up beds in that's really good for for all patients if patients need to come him to host the 2 o. Them we can made that decision we can make a rebuke flipped on it missions a hostage or and we can move patients a majorly turn appropriate i live the haas this so i'm caissons and to importantly the stanley's as well now exactly was going to have tons of them for the admission so was this embezzle the full with thinking you know why if this qana design to reduce the length of patients dying in hospital yeah this is a there since humphrey many pap desist 1st of all i'm fully leahy various patients who need to come into hostile we want to start to read be clay of try make sure everyone's working together in than the effective way we know you've a hospital stays are no it's good sort patients we want to make a show which is possible and there for yes one pass as hers to the juice or length of stay another pass just i was to avoid hosts that led mission oh together and then another test this is their stress a great benefits other patients who me letters and you get the makers it means they're measured sheets result to skin focus on other problems at this time of year is why we're often talking about the strine on and large it's a departments in in particular with all the people my be falling and suddenly with problems like flu new money about kind of thing a is the timing key here is while if you launch this out of the the pits but they specific tom of the a when you doing counts of these problems mo Well absolutely we're expecting experience increased demands currently in effect this weekend just go and we have a record number of the missions to emergency departments we're all working incredibly hard personally emergency department and in the hospital to meet that demand there's well as in the community where we're trying to prevent people from coming to hospital in the 1st place if they don't meet that so. Actually our demand is high all year round service units yes we're here in December and it's fantastic to support St December this year it is needed all year around you said a moment ago about the ambition is to get it to 12 hours a day from the current 8 hours of operation your ambitions even beyond Lassie looking to extend the the use of the facility and maybe make it 24 hours a day in an increased number of beds Well I say absolutely right so we're looking at we're looking across the whole emergency department and looking at how emergency department doctors geriatricians medical doctors surgeons cardiologists how we can all work together 24 hours a day to make sure that patients are presenting to our hospital are seen by the right person at the right place at the right time so that all patients get the appropriate senior decision making at an early stage and a really clear plan for an early stage sounds like a really strong project Good luck with it Don thank you very much indeed for coming on to the program Dr Donald by less consultant geriatrician at Southampton General Hospital at 20 minutes past 5 Hope your Monday is going well it's Lou on at through until 7 and then we've got Stephanie and House with the early taking you through until 10 still taking your guesses who's in the news today very good performance good performance I've been very impressed with the players who is that mentor reason Rumsey well done Jane brought Stein correct on said Terry the drama from tuffs and you. You are correct as well I guess is coming in for all the loss of you on the phone and the unsound Hampson that you are correct 2nd guessed from Alexandre and that's fine you can have another gas if you get it wrong 1st time around I don't mind getting charger if you think you know who this is very good performance good performance I've been very impressed with. It's 103800 or you can text 81 triple 3 starting a message with so didn't it's not Kenny Jackett and it's not Alan Sugar. B.B.C. Radio. I'm thinking yeah OK that's so we ended up with $135.00 children that is incredible ranging from $6.00 to $18.00 and they are charged with the responsibility of performing yet Disney's Peter Pan and you know what it is a brilliant stories and a fantastic at this time of year as well and it's a reduced fee and so it's a 60 minute piece so we've created this amazing world for them at the Regent that went got built on Saturday yeah. And yeah the support from all the companies that we have involved has been phenomenal and I turned up yesterday not seeing what I've been created and even I was like oh my goodness this is beautiful and I think that you know when when all the young participants turn out yesterday to do their technical and dress rehearsals they would I think it. Really hit them and surprised me because it yesterday was a bit all over the place and when we talk about the youngsters Yes We're not talking about children I've got loads of experience on this day not a tour no not real mixed ability no completely and that that is the purpose of this entire project X. It's experience show it's all about getting people to you know is the social interaction is you know having 4 or 5 or 6 hours of no phone and which I think is a very. It's a conversation that needs to be had you know that the amount of all of our time actually that sounds in a telephone but it's no we made very sure that we didn't have your obvious stars you know from from local youth groups and stuff like that we wanted people with enthusiasm and and. Just energy you know our than obvious talent and but over the last 10 weeks that they've been rehearsing this it has I mean it's been on one hand a bit because challenge. But on the other hand to see the growth. Of these young people not only not not just from the point of view of their performance but their integration socially with everybody with us has just been it's been touching and I really do it's one of those things and when you then I mean I'm conscious of what I'm saying being the show's producer Yes but when you when I say you've got to come and support these guys because you know we've created is as as a professional world as we can for these extraordinary little humans to sit and enjoy and be in that world and I can't wait for tomorrow I mean I am there's a degree of life. Because there are you know there are there are people in it that are there because they love it yes and as much as it's been a conversation of or yeah we need to you know sort out maybe those 2 who'd Indian like never leave them you know let them be like they are clearly getting something . They respect to that they're doing completely the wrong thing it doesn't matter Yeah it's all about you know when I cast my mind back to doing all the things I did here in Southampton you know heritage that a company can do you feel better and all that you know it was a free environment which is what Peter Pan's all about no one's charged Yeah but you got to experience and you've got to create in this environment that you know that you are advocating entitlement or because mommy and daddy have paid realises No you're here because of you. What's keeps us driving and driving this project so we're going tomorrow how many performance a 9 shows every day 3 groups doing 3 performances each and the 1st one is tomorrow and running until last Saturday 1230 is our last show our regions and so ladies of opportunities and over those few days lots of different time we sell yet we've got so every day is 530 to 730 every single day and sat. Today it's 10301230 then you're off doing something as we get closer to Christmas and you wrote school oh no well yes so the flip side of this was every I keep every time talking turned up to rehearsal I have all these kids going we want you to see we want you to Sing Sing please sing and it's all very well me standing there and singing and I basically it's for them that I've decided I would do one of my little one man shows I've got a choir made up some for some great friends down in Bournemouth and stuff like that and yeah so I'll be doing my little songs in the shows but at my old school this is a ring what's going on because when you know that it December 25th I remember this is in my diary I'm going to you know yes you are going to be heckling.
