Injury during the walls of a cup replay was initially told to be out of action for up to 6 weeks although he is available for selection again he won't be rushed back that's B.B.C. Radio News and spalted 3 minutes past fall thanks very much and let's get your latest on the roads now if you're in trouble me. Yes. But there were. Bank and town walls. Causing delays the bypassing the. Troubles with a 493 bison Hill but Shafik in the area. Because. Improving in the Donington area. Around the garrison mind about the hole in the right words but things. Are now still for the Queensway to travel away from the Hollywood area towards the area in the right where it seems like a safe and I'm 6 but if you do see a problem it's a 33 I WANT A 335 5th day. Of travel thanks during the. B.B.C. Radio show with Adam Green Good afternoon I hope you're well today your weather then it's sunny fairies want to showers for a time and they will possibly be wintry in places Tony cloudy and windy this evening with some rain moving in films of. Talking about today expectations out and we've got a superhero movie to die Captain Marvel was the big release in structure this week also talking about a film called Serenity which is available to stream of water at the cinema at the same time on the latest offering from the World of Harry Potter's creation J.K. Rowling as well. But your boys and it's a sin on B.B.C. Radio Adam Green with you Monday afternoon had a great weekend whatever you were doing I've just been showing call a picture taken my parents house nice Millan's I work on Sunday morning my daughter said Daddy it's knowing us and now with Jason went to look at the window it was snow it was a seriously snow serious no one to put on sweats a lot of people going where on earth are you what what is going on it was proper snowfall and there was 2 or 3 inches of snow and within an hour and a half it gone now for a snowball fight that was good they looked like a film saying that the snow I went to sign test of the snowball potential It was it was no it wasn't great consistency no it wasn't right wasn't right to it and it was too cold for months as well anyway enough of my weekend in the snow what are we talking about sums of films 1st up this week well is only one big new release in Shropshire this week it's a film called Captain Marvel 12 a certificate Have a listen to some of this. We are. Likely. To see them going to. Control. This tower. Now where it came from. Never seen anything like her. Since I don't. See just the beginning. Now I've been in the office for a few hours now and already I've heard 2 or 3 people mention the cat in this film was a whites there a captain Captain Marvel the cat is almost same stealing lady from Les cliff will be delighted to hear today that there's big futures clearly in the Marvel Comics universe for a talented cat and you can go from doctors straight on to the Marvel spaceships they have a play you cards right yeah I'll talk about the cast in a minute of it this is a film which after Exhibit A What actually have got to it it's the film which sort of takes the origin right the way back to the story of how the Avengers were created and so really it's that it's notable because it's a Marvel Studios 1st female hero to lead pretty Lassen Oscar winning Bree Lawson plays a pretty fierce character and I think the lead is I had some people go oh no no those being female characters in superhero films but was that the lead role gets taken by cops D.C. Comics have done Wonder Woman but Marvel have never put a female in the sole legal Scarlet Johansson A Spider Woman people like that but this is the this is you know quite clearly it's the name of the film and it's what it's all about and she teams up with Nick Fury played by some of the Jackson who if you've seen any of the Marvel films he's the the mastermind of the shield organization guys eyepatch on and nobody really knows what's happened but this is the film before. He was wearing an eye patch so we get to find out how that all came about is it the magic of computer generated effects means that he's been de age some in all Jackson in this one really because this is firmly set in 1995 to tell you about how this this was this was Nick Fury's 1st. Experience of otherworldly beings and it's what set him on the road to creating the Avengers now we're just taking a break from this film for a minute and parking this later this year we got the 2nd part of the Avengers story Avengers endgame at the end of the last film they're on a pretty bad state the evil body was about to wipe them all out and this film sort of links in to the 2nd part of this Avengers sequel that will be seeing later in the year so Captain Marvel is not giving away any huge plot secrets will have a role to play in the market in the Avengers film later in the year like the Bradley voted diagram that I try to follow which goes where yeah I think so so essentially you can have a no deal you can have a backstop or. You can don't have uses for so so yes so what we know is cap some obvious going to feed into this Avengers Filmation the end this is the film that explains a little bit about how it is but basically Brie Larson is character she's she's got a touch of amnesia to the Jason Bourne she's not you know where she's come from and she wakes up in the middle of this battle between and this is where it gets a bit Marvel comic geeky The battle between the Create and the scrolls now I'm no I'm no Marvel Comics expert and I had a clue who either of these were so we at the start of the film it races along at 150 miles an hour the super fans will know they'll be straight in a double They'll know I mean it's an iconic legendary part of Marvel folklore these 2 have this war but she's right in the middle of it she's fighting on the side of the script the Cree Jude Law is trying to teach her how to be a warrior how to how to train these strange super powers that she's got and we don't know how she's got them. As the film then develops we don't quite know who the good guys who the bad guys are she ends up being accidentally transplanted Earth in 1905 which is an excuse for a great soundtrack. And some Adele Jackson's character along the way inherits this happy little ginger cat who's got some sort of connection to Lawson's character's life before she had amnesia I'm not going to give away any secrets but this cat is not all that it seems at the start of the home there are 2 or 3 moments where it is absolutely that you know I've got these great A list characters they've got these huge mega super budgets but the cat is just acting everybody off the screen another is quite it's quite amusing to see it's got a very good cast as Ben Mendelsohn is in it Annette Bening crops up as a sort of mentor too to the to the Cree she's wasted a bit I thought really because she's a fantastic actress and her scenes brief as they are are actually really decent So is it all all action loud big on the screen or is a slightly more considered because of the storyline is trying to tell is one of the reasons why I think it's a bit odd is that it sort of splits into 3 the 1st the 1st 3rd it's 150 miles an hour straight into the action the 2nd chunk is sort of trying to explain a little bit about Captain Marvel I'm a supposed to get into her head little bit in the end set is the act when the action really kicks in to set it all up I mean I To me it borrowed that separates the scrolls character in mind to be of bad is that it seems to me like Deep Space 9 bits of the of the Captain Marvel character seem to be taken from Superman there is there was essences of Star Trek of Star Wars it felt a bit derivative to me they take it very very seriously clearly that Marvel that they are you know producing a movie which is the 1st one with the female leaders there are 2 or 3 moments where it talks about women in a man's world and make some pretty blatant points. It's a buddy film really between Bree Lawson and sum it all Jackson who is. Always great I mean he or you know exactly what you going to get with some AT ALL Jackson and he's the only Hollywood stars seem to be aging better by the year because they keep making records with him from his in years before so yeah I mean a Marvel fans will love it because he answers lots of questions he sets up a lot more for the the Avengers film but I think as ever with these films these days they're almost looking further ahead in the in the the timeline rather than looking at themselves as a standalone film so what do we give up to Marvel I'm going to give it as 7 out of 10 unless I'm sat on the fence a little bit parts of it great parts of it didn't quite come together as well as I hoped it was OK 1st film mystery Captain Marvel 7 Alan of 10 we'll have our 2nd film for you Serenity after the commune on. The air. Let's. Leg. For coming on and don't leave me this writes B.B.C. Radio show for Monday afternoon films are for with Call joins us here in the studio we've had one from already Captain Marvel 7 out of 10 on our 2nd film called What I want to shortchange you this week even though Captain Marvel is actually the only new film showing a shock to cinemas this week but what we do have is a movie called Serenity It's a 15 to to figure this one and this is one of the latest breed of films which is released at cinemas albeit not in Shropshire but really similar science the on. T.V. Channels as well so this one is on Sky cinema as well as being at available cinemas and it's got a mouthwatering cast so you think all this could be you know well worth a look you see the trailers and it looks quite edgy It does yes it's got Matthew McConaughey and half the way Jason Clarke's got some really really decent stars in it and it's all setting around the life of a fishing community a fisherman. Who's let's say he's his life gets turned upside down when his ex-wife blows in on to the scene with an offer and I will let on Hathaway explain to you exactly what that offer a step back. Joining me here the day after tomorrow. I told him that I have a kind of a rebel with his you. Know when you take him out of. Baghdad drunk. And drop him in the ocean for the sharks. Every meal I will give you $10000000.00 cash. If it is. A case that sets up the film clearly it does yeah it does there's a triangle really so there's lots of questions and not really you know why did she want to do this and where she got her hands on $10000000.00 to start with So what actually happened is an Hathaway used to be married to Matthew McConaughey His character she's now gone off with another man Jason Clarke is the 3rd man he says is a violent gangster husband and the marriage is gone pretty badly but of course Jason Klaus got all sorts of ill gotten gains around Hathaway goes back to Rex and says look here's your offer How do you fancy 10000000 and of course Matthew McConaughey scary Caesar is a fisherman he's not exactly rolling in in readies And of course it becomes an offer that's too good to refuse thank goodness otherwise we would have a. It's a it's a strange I mean talk about Captain Marvel being a strange on this is this is an odd film which seems to have so many ideas that he wants to throw together into 107 minutes. And he never really gives any of them quite enough time to breathe when it 1st started this film I thought this is this is just going to be one of these classic tropical beautiful location films out in the richest in the Indian Ocean lots of great places for the actors to go and spend a bit on a holiday a bit of dead calm you know you go off out into the into the seas it becomes a tense thriller and it's and it's like that for about maybe 45 minutes or so the sun sets and subterfuge and and then in the 2nd half it's clearly there for. I think I'm going to I'm going to 2nd we had all these fantastic ideas you want to throw into this film so. We'll have a bit of this will do this then we'll have a twist here that will make this person do this and it all becomes when it's trying to be somber I think it becomes silly and when you've got so many actors who are being very earnest very intense particularly Anne Hathaway's character. I found myself stifling. One of those 3 parts of it. And you know I cry in the end I you know I felt when I watched this that it sort of it got too many ideas that were all in the cooked you could have stripped out a lot of the twists in the messages about people's fate and destiny and now you know he goes all film was a very dark. Which is a complete contrast to the 1st part of the film so I think to myself. Steven Knight's obviously decided that this is a writer director of this is his baby. Yeah having it all audience and I don't quite think they needed all of that you know it's one of those films you end up thinking how did so many great people with great track records Oscars between them get together to make something that's it's not drivel but it's a little bit in comprehensible and I didn't quite know what they were trying to do with it and I think they thought it was a far more intelligent film than it comes across so what Mark is not quite drivel for after 4 out of Sam not great that is serenity for us at our 2nd film this week our have streams downloads and D.V.D.'s for you in a few minutes time but right now it's $430.00. B.B.C. Radio show with Adam and we're going to look at D.V.D.'s Struble films downloads in Blondie a Maria B.B.C. Radio across the country music. On your radio. 7 The save me I'm going to play you the B.B.C. Introducing song of the month coming up in just a bit on the show from the Beth Pryor if you've not heard it it's a woman. A wonderful song it's kind it's got a summer vibe to it and you're here in just a bit sort of jazz jazz reggae I think I've described it in part it's very very good a play that later around I would inform reviews of college loans we've had to film so far and we have had Captain Marvel to back up to marvel I should say not so now to Marvel 7 out and serenity 4 out of 10 what can we stream and download and watch on D.V.D. This week if you want to stream a big budget film as opposed to watching one at the cinema while Fantastic Beasts the crimes of Grindle world is the one to go for this week it's available to stream now and it's available on D.V.D. On the 18th of March this is the 2nd one of the Wizarding World of Harry Potter's sort of follow up world that J.K. Rowling has written and it all predates Harry Potter So the 1st 23 years ago we had fantastic based on where to find them which introduced us to this character called newts commander played by Eddie Redmayne who's a really quirky socially awkward loner who's an absolute whiz with them he's Dr Doolittle really with all sorts of strange creatures and the magical law enforcement departments are desperate to try and get news commander on board to help them fight this threat from the evil Grindle world who's played by Johnny Depp at the end of the last fantastic based film Johnny Depp was finally unmasked so this one is all about him starting to build his armies ready for the big onslaught and this film really is all about the fact that it becomes clear that the world and doubled or he's played by Jude Law have got a bit of an axe to grind with one another of Larry's reasons they don't get on they have to steer well clear of one another for some strange magical reason so instead of going with the magical law enforcement team and fighting going to World News commander answers a call from double door instead to sneakily try and help him instead I actually didn't think this one was as good as the 1st fantastic based film ironically for him for a magic franchise I just thought it lacked that bit of. Sparkle to me it brings together these new group of people that we met in the last film Kathryn Waterstones of Agent Dunn Fogler non-magical man who's completely nonplussed by what's going on with his life and a couple of others little strange closer we Kravitz appearance and it to it joins up some of the dots to make you understand a little bit more about Harry Potter movies and how the whole family to bit like the Marvel films is building up a family tree production design costumes brilliant Johnny Depp plays down his. Baddie and he actually is not on screen that much and I think that he suffers from it I think he plays it down maybe too much Eddie Redmayne best thing about the film 2 or 3 good set pieces for me that we didn't quite gel into a really enjoyable yarn magical yarn like some of the other Harry Potter films have so it's OK So Fantastic Beasts and really all the etc etc eggs exactly I'm going to give I'm going to give that 7 out as well is a flawed big budget epic a bit like Captain Marvel really OK decent enough squad What else do we have and the last one is even called wildlife and this didn't really get us in release in Shropshire So 1st chance to see Jake Gyllenhaal and Carey Mulligan of the main stars of ACE they play this husband and wife we've moved to Montana in the 1960 S. With their teenage son and the son really looks up to his old man he's working on a golf course at a local country club but he loses his job and then ends up having to get work outside of town as a firefighter and while dad is outside of town mom has her head turned by a local car dealership owner and starts to have an affair poor old teenage son then doesn't really know what to do intentions start to do develop in the household so that's really really the story about this it's it's the tale of a dysfunctional family seen through the eyes of a teenager and all that she's really good as the teenager Carey Mulligan. A real sort of painfully desperate confused woman she's very good at the sort of financial dramatic side of cinema. And he always threatens all the way through this to spill out into something which is absolutely amazing and just just something stops it all the way through from breaking out into something that feels real it feels like lots of the scenarios that you're actually going through are things that everyone will be able to relate to but but it feels like it's been put together I thought in a bit sort of broad brushstroke so that you actually don't quite get into the heads of all of the different protectionist but but it's decent I can see why I didn't get much of a cinema release again it's available to stream now and it's available on D.V.D. On the 18th of March and what do we give up it's an all right 6 out of 10 OK so wild life 6 out of 10 so are 2 films to seek out this week Captain Marvel and fantastic beasts the crimes of Grindelwald etc I thought 2nd time around. I should mention what we're talking about next week firstly next week when I'm quite looking forward to a very British film about music executive who tries to get a record deal for a group of singing Cornish fisherman that's fisherman's friends and net Henson in a film called what men want if you ever saw what women want with Mel Gibson Yes exactly the same after a while sorts of. Thoughts of the 2nd before we go as well Callan thank you very much for a text about films you have seen recently a current or Bahamian Rhapsody last Friday it was amazing very good 10 out of 10 Thanks for your message about enjoying from views we enjoy that you enjoy them thank you Karen and you're going to be later on to tell us what films are about accounting that connects him and actually if anybody hasn't seen by a monopoly on the big screen it's showing in 2 or 3 different places around structure this week so we're Have a listen I'll give you all the details later later on in the program call Thank you very much day to stock car Jones will be back of course on the show next week with more films for you right this is as promised the B.B. Seems to sing song for the month of March the best prior collective is called Vibe All right. But. Wonderful Beth pride collective vibe or I is to be seen to sing song of the month there also supporting the wireless this week to go 3 gigs this week for the best project of supporting the whale is Thursday Friday and Saturday there are nothing in Rock City on Thursday the academy in Birmingham on Friday night on the Manchester economy one on Saturday if you search for the best practice of on Facebook is lots of information on that and how you might that's case of take it as well let's go watch them on the White House as devil go away is Fail to the tune has it that's going to be some awesome gigs this week good luck to Beth and the group right B.B.C. Radio 9 minutes to 5 on Monday afternoon and so the environment now damaged release more company than the U.K.'s oil refinement industry that's according to the government's climate change committee Pete is made of partially decomposed plant material which looks in carbon that process as helped by Spagna moss which slows down the rate of decay if the delicate balance between the plant material on the moss is disturbed the company is released into the atmosphere and there's your problem because many people and drying out some becoming damaged it's happening to the hit at Wickes a loss and it's happening elsewhere in the country as well our reporter Sara folk him headed out to appeal and in the Yorkshire Dales where restoration is about to begin led by Jenny Sherman from the York ship Pete partnership. Whenever you come up here there is just an actual fleet Moss cloud I think that just exists here permanently just looking out now all you can see is just mess but a moment ago it revealed itself in all its glory this horrible degraded pate land that we've nicknamed the song. I can see Jenny that the the peach is exposed it's all scarred and there's fissures what's caused this damage we don't know specifically on this site what would have kicked all of this off but most typically it would have been a large fire it could have been over grazing or it could have been drainage systems or to the grips that were put in in the sort of 6070 S. But as soon as that either of those go either the vegetation or the water goes then the oxygen is able to to come in and it all becomes decomposed and suddenly we've got a wonderful carbon sink becoming a carbon source so all these areas of brown land I can see exposed where the bird Haitians just vanished because it's dried out the carbon is just going up into the atmosphere here lately the amount of water that you can see that's coming or all of this is going to be going to straight into Bartell back which then leads into summer water this is carbon being released right now we're seeing erosion happening because of the water flow and the amount of water that's coming off here so because it's so scarred and there are so many little gullies. It's all just leeching out everything's leeching out really Yeah absolutely and I don't think people realise that actually this all will end up on their on their bills on their water bills water companies have to actually clean all that up they have to take out this organic carbon which costs them millions so of course all of that ends up on our bills so how do we put the problem right the main 2 things that we're trying to do is to keep the water up here so we use dams either. Timber to. Slow the flow of the water and help that sediment build up so that it can build up all the gullies and prevent erosion but the 2nd thing we try and do is revenge a Tate as well it's quite an operation where helicopters will bring in loads and loads of brash which is chopped heather which will contain seeds like all the crow breeze and other plants and then we'll also put in plug plants so cotton grasses and sphagnum as well so it's that's all part of the process. This here is a tiny tiny little bit of Spike them so this is a key building block for for Pete it's incredibly important but as you've seen it's taken me a while to find any smack them on the site which means that if we didn't bring back them the people wouldn't actually be able to build up again by itself so it's key to actually helping us then to continue to store carbon. The patrons in the U.K. Hold more carbon than all of our forests put together globally the patrons cover 3 percent of the earth but they hold 30 percent of the world's carbon so 2 times as much as what the world's forests hold if we want to take climate change seriously which of course we should then this should be a priority really it's a low hanging fruit they are our rain forests. Jenny Sharman from the Yorkshire peat partnership talking to our reporter Sara folk you can read more about this on the B.B.C. News website OK Still to come on the show get your latest news with Andrew in just a moment and latest on the road to dreaming weekdays for you at the headline will headline there you tell us what you think would go with this story today where there is a woman who was married to her doing very according to the wedding register the Do they use the name is 10. After pleading guilty to assault and encroachment onto the pitch at Birmingham Magistrates Court this morning he's now been sentenced to 14 weeks in prison he will also pay a total of $350.00 pounds in fines and has been banned from attending any.
