Channel which was broadcasting at the time. The 1st bomb targets hit a police vehicle near the bishop to football stadium shortly after a match the 2nd is believed to have been a suicide bomb in a park is thought the 2 bombs exploded seconds apart David Perry is in Istanbul on business he was staying at a nearby hotel when he heard the 1st blast. Just an enormous bang sure and then there's a 2nd explosion at which point. Some distance from the window has an l. . After 5 minutes and so on look out by which time the police are pulled in both When are we going to journalist Frank Nordhaus and went to the stadium after seeing the explosions we how does your explosion and then an orange light lightening the sky and after that a white smoke coming up and what I could see was at least 20 ambulances fall lineup and lots of police coming to the scene 10 arrests have been made since the blasts went off but no group has taken responsibility for the killings Turkey has been hit by a wave of bombings this year and they've been carried out by Kurdish militants and so-called Islamic State Andrew Finkel has been a foreign correspondent a stumble for over 20 years and he's the author of a book called Turkey what everyone needs to NY with usual division of labor of what most pundits say is that the very attacks against police against security forces against official targets are pretty much the work of the p.k. . This Kurdish separatist organization which feels very much under threat at the moment there's a huge crackdown against against them in the southeast survey would have a motive for doing so the other likely suspect is Isis who have mounted attacks against very much civilian targets in Turkey dinner for me while the Foreign Office has updated its travel advice telling Britons to stay vigilant avoid the area and follow the advice of the local authorities and read much more about this if you have a look at the nice pages a b.b.c. Day We'll save that for treasure Quest liter of could when clues to get we have to have a mini celebration this is what happens if you're in for some cryptic clue solving will get go and after about half 8 this morning it's b.b.c. Radio shops 721 as a b.b.c. Programme being aired tomorrow night called Muslims like us which features 10 perceived Muslims with contrast in world views who move into a house together that passionate debates honest disagreements humor and insights reveal what it's like to be a British Muslim today that's on tomorrow they side in that each British Muslim may have a different outlook is a subject my next guest is passionate about Dr Phillip Lewis is consulted on a slam on Christian Muslim relations to the Bishop of Leeds He's a visiting fellow Yorks and John University and he's coming to Church Stretton to talk. About Islam in Britain next week good morning to you good morning so what are the risks concerned with generalizing any religious group. I think there are is something that we wouldn't talk about European Christianity is if all you need to know that is have a copy of a New Testament we could then make sense of Catholics Orthodox Protestants Pentecostals but we routinely homogenize Muslims and and to get Islam like Christianity is complex it's embedded in 5 different languages and cultures when we think of Islam for instance we normally think of Arabs but but they get that there are more Indonesian Muslims than Arabs or we think get this Turks often or Persians or salvations and so you never in a way Muslim the carriers as Christians are of radically different understandings of their tradition of what about our own Muslim communities in this country what what are you concerns about how they're perceived Well I think the main problem it seems to me is we we don't understand that cities for instance in Britain can be very very different in terms of their complection of Muslims if we were doing this in Brant or new when we'd have to talk about Muslims who come from 20 or 30 countries and the only common language is English or if we move further north to Leicester there isn't the same hyper diversity of these London bombers but you have a particular sort of Islam which has been imported largely from East Africa with when the army in kicked out the East African communities and these these communities when they were when they came say to Leicester they already had in English professional skills that learn to live as a minority. But then if you go to the northern mill towns where I've worked for many years you know the Oldham's the black burns the Bradford's the communities here after one of the least developed areas of rural 'd Pakistan maybe Banga day Celeste and so on so these communities so to say are having to learn all the skills the East African Muslims formerly from South Asia had to learn over the previous 50 years how to live well as a minority how it's how you move from a minority context or majority context in Pakistan to live well as a minority to move from the rural context to an urban context Eastern to Western cultures these are huge dislocations and we never factor this in it seems to me at and the government's case your book came out last week which might back up what you're saying they're saying that racial segregation is growing in the u.k. Claims that many Muslims in particular are failing to make so many Muslim women are being cut off from the rest of society because of poor English and regressive advice from mosques would you go along with that well let me take to 2 factors I think take take the the world of the mosques and dieted across across the Muslim world there is crisis in religious formation in the mosques. For complex reasons which I have deep roots in even pre-colonial Muslim history we have a situation where across from Muslim world you had the Often the carriers of the Islamic tradition are educated in one particular tradition where they study ancient texts but had very little understanding of the modern world then you have the Muslim elites who are educated in all modern disciplines social sciences education and so on sciences and what have you and often these 2 worlds. In a way don't understand each other often contemptuous of each other so that generates some very difficult relationships and so there's a real crisis in religious formation and so many youngsters in Britain for instance will tap into what a friend of mine called Shape Google. Cause that's a lottery what would you find goodness only knows. What you make then of the idea of promoting British values in schools which was suggested in the Casey reports I but I mean I think there's nothing wrong in in that actually but my own sense is I think I think there needs to be much greater understanding of of some of these crises and how how one can support a new generation of British Muslims who are becoming increasingly self-critical and engaging in much more constructive thinking how we identify those people encourage those people that for instance I mentioned earlier in the mosque world if you like you have people trained in Islamic seminaries in this country who often can't speak to those you know who are trained in universities but there are crossovers emerging for instance chaplaincy is a very interesting one chaplaincy is where some of the most creative thinking is going on because the moms have to move out of their comfort zone and relate to rabbis and to clergy and develop new skills so there are these crossovers there are these quite exciting developments all we take women's issues for instance it's very interesting Casey you know worries about sort of the whole gender issue she was about Shari'a canceled. But it's very interesting she's taken most of her day from the Muslim Women's Network. Which are a bunch of feisty educated women who are rethinking that tradition there's a lot to go through there is going to be a fascinating talk on Tuesday thank you very much for time this morning my pleasure thank you Dr Philip Lewis who is interested on Tuesday as part of the engaging issues of talks speaking about Islam in Britain it's of the United Reformed Church from 730 till 9 a suggested donation of 3 pounds and if you interest in that program I mentioned as well Muslims like us that starts tomorrow b.b.c. Charming. It's a more good news for Catholic cathedral another cash priest you can hear more from Cameron Jonathan Mitchell and a few minutes time after this from loo rolls. As long as. Someone who. Never. Went. But. Never. To. Tell. Someone. a teaser question shortly. Have days to get you going I know it's early but yet I'm going to warm up at some point it's 22 minutes to a there's been some more good news for she's Catholic Cathedral you member may remember last year it was awarded huge cash boost to help towards improving the building where now it's been given a further grant of 250000 pounds a very happy Canon Jonathan Mitchell from the cathedral popped in to tell us more morning tea Good morning good what so what where is this cash come from and it's the same fund right there it's the 1st 1st World War some tuna cathedral performed so the government for the past to cover the past government has released 2 sets of 20000000 pounds to repair cathedrals in England and Wales and we successfully bid last time and got 250000 pounds and this time 250000 pounds said you know what you want to do with it oh yes we have this is it let me access this quite a big long list with very cathedral it's a bit like the 4th bridge you know you start a war and you repair and then you start again yeah so in this particular case we're looking at repairing the south porch and the memorial trap wall and completing the iron work on the facade that. Looks overlooks town walls that sort of iron work there's a lot of people have been commenting about actually as they passed the the it was amazing how many people still talk about the new poll which they are and where they can see the improvements has been very encouraging which is obviously what you want because you want to you want to draw them in so you know they sent us to you know far more of what we've kind of been talking about that some of the restoration work on the show that you've been doing this year how is that going then where are you up to with the development I suppose you know that we can side is very is very patient and I want it done tomorrow. The new entrance should be completed by Christmas and fully functioning by then and then we have the cafe the bookshop the student center and the main repairs to the 2 houses the chapter house and the little house which will come online at the end of February so it's quite a big project you know probably spent. Well certainly in excess of a 1000000 pounds on the whole project and one studies finally done but will there be aiming you mention it's like the 4th bridge and it's just an never ending task will there be a little time we could just sit back and enjoy it and go to let's not. Forget the next project will be the Hartman Victorian window in the main sanctuary which means the last rip and again the estimates for that repair is over a $100000.00 so we need to stand stock looking at how we can fund that particular repair builders must love you. Were on good note for saying turn up at the bottom that you. Actually put my residence there at the moment. Well congratulations on this cash both thank you thank you for telling us about it this morning Ok and it got out but no doubt when you know we're 2 weeks away from the big day it's going to be a busy couple of weeks for you Oh it's yes it is yes it's a delight you know we're look we've had carol services we've had in the city of clothes and all that will come to sort of a close at the end of next week the schools finishing and then it's the main push for or for Christmas but it's wonderful that Christmas Day is on a Sunday this year sort of next year it's going to be a bit of a killer because we'll have all the services of Sunday and then we go straight into Christmas yes it's a back to back arrangement this year we've got a week to breathe before Sunday of Advent and Christmas Day and there it is going up that will be at work if I don't see you again before have a fantastic Christmas have a wonderful Christmas you know thank you very much Ken and Jonathan Mitchell from Catholic Cathedral which has been given a 250000 pound grant to go towards continuing repairs and improvements along going task b.b.c. Mum a great song been arranged the way it is on b.b.c. Radio show your Sunday starter question today on average we walk 20 miles a year doing this what is it there's a theme growing here Leslie from Donington says is it going to the toilet is it going to the toilets has bought from has got it was just getting up in the night to go to the toilet it depends how far away your bathroom is I guess it does make a difference it's not right is it just going up and down the stairs says Jenny and when it's a good guess it's not right Jean from bishop's cassock you are very close in fact too close to readout because it would give the game away on average we walk 20 miles a year doing this what is it do you think you know what it could be letter imagination run wild 174-324-8321 if you phoning you can text 813 double 3 just push rop the start of your message 7 minutes to a cold or so to Labor Council former leader of Telford American Council you take it morning tear Good morning good morning congratulations granddad I understand you get 67 weeks ago I had a small granddaughter soldiers were crying in the house and I heard a lot of the. You know put to go to bed and so on yes but the but he wouldn't have it any other way they would. Probably put meat put meat well welcome pany it I'm sure was used to listening or not you just sleep she could be our youngest of the listener who is the sleep to the rest of the audience anyway you will hear yeah I've been looking at the papers Yeah and couple stories here in The Observer You know John Glenn who died the astronaut who died at 90. Well. It's not John Glenn's story actually he went around the orbit and there's a new film coming out called called hidden figures and what he was that there was a 3 American ladies. You know the they were from. African background and they were known as the computers in skirts because John Glenn many patronize and thing to say but it was a guess and I guess it was a different time but if you're planning on time for 962 and a jungle and you say get the girls check the figures and if they agree then press the button and I will go so he says how much he trusted them and those girls were in the background working and there's this was a time of 7 segregation and everything in America in those days female romantic you know African background and they're making the film they're made the film we should be coming out in the next week or so called The Hidden figures and it's you know I said when I looked at it and I said wait a minute this is another age and how much of these girls did it and called them with computers in skirts it's nice that their story is unsung heroes he's being healthy it's very apt isn't it and this is coming out just after we've lost John Glenn Yeah absolutely lie and so you're another oh yeah he was a the story is that he didn't figures the American dream and untold story of the black women mathematicians who helped the space race and he's post a book is by moderate or a moderately or somebody and I thought if there's a great story and most of the time be a portrayed as a maids and nannies and the sector East and here it is their their their ISP and their response to your hind Yes Face it with NASA if it wasn't for them John Glenn wouldn't have you know I'm going to get any you wouldn't trust anyone which is so we should look for attack having our what it's called figures and I just thought I'd annoying thing about it 2 weeks out on Easter and my 2nd story is in India about 2 months ago or something Indian government banned 500. Notes rupees notes and a 1000 because the reason why people hoarding it People 120 trunks. Well of money and the government said you put it in a bank and you pay the taxes on it now but people have to do is go and get the money from the whole into war and most people don't know how to use the hole in a war and you know if you're a small businessman or this and that and so on because Indian economy is all cash and most obvious probably even. You know that people don't pay the taxes so people have to get used to these. Who buy used to fish with a credit card here you know are you saying people comes in with a credit card I want to buy a fish and of course the matter you do so taking place in India and he's all cash and some of those have to be postponed because the father in law or the father of the bright didn't have enough money to get the money yes so the principle behind is a good to get the money out and get the people to pay their taxes but if the ordinary folks who sort of suffers so you are cash man called a d.j. Paid cash. I always have a cash in my pocket on Friday but I do pay everything with my credit card and so one but you know these things but in places like India you know people don't use these credit cards you know a little businessman or a Big Business Man So these are the people India has been going through a bit of a Hell now for the last 23 months lack of cash we called it thank you very much for time we'll catch up with a little bit later on thank you very much Colditz out at Labor Council and former leader of Telford American Council with his take on what's going on in the Sunday papers this morning. B.b.c. Radio for option whether. Good morning to you good morning bit of a bit of a fresher fail in Prospect Today them yeah they're really is I mean yesterday at this time we're looking at temperatures about 10 degrees south it's currently about 67 degrees south yes we've joined in some cool air cooler Amma that rain clearing out to the southeast yesterday is join in something cooler so we're going. See those temperatures down a couple of degrees and it really will be noticeable. We've got some dry weather on the way as well and some hazy sunny styles more in the way of brightness so it's looking like it could be quite a nice cool bright day temperatures reaching a maximum of 9 degrees Celsius which is $48.00 in Fahrenheit and then as we go through See evening and overnight drive variable amounts of cloud around a few cliffs ballsy could just catch a Touch of Frost if you're out in the countryside and I think we also see some fog developing quite readily into the early hours temperatures fall into an overnight level 3 degree Celsius or quite chilly start of the day again tomorrow and a foggy start and I don't think it would take too long before we start to see a band of patchy light rain coming up from the southwest again that's going to bring with it Mr Makki conditions to be quite dank again some drizzle and some patchy outbreaks of rain temperatures reaching maximum of 7 degrees Celsius and then it's looking like a similar day into cheese day lots of gray weather and also some cherry outbreaks of rain but we will start to see those temperatures recovering slightly so creeping back up to something a little bit more mild but the best of the weather I think personally today for the weekend on the next coming in the next few days coming enjoy it before it gets dark exactly like the word I don't like the weather dark and that's how it goes the way I go with it thank you. Thank you to guess who's coming in on your Sunday start a question this morning on our effort to walk 20 miles a year during this what is it keep the guesses can I run through some more in about 8133 if you texting just put Trump at the start here message Bob insurance break is very close. And so I might give you a close. Again before I give you that play on the show soon the chaplain of Woking football club is on talking about the issue of sexual abuse in football I'm a catch up with Marbury from I actually tell for you night is here to pause for thought as well before 830 this morning give me some candy state run the way I am for young in just a few minutes. Question In just a few minutes in the news this morning at least 29 people have been killed and 166 injured by a pair of bomb attacks near a football stadium in Turkey. Will the police say that the 2 bombs exploded just seconds apart with the 1st thought of being a car bomb and the 2nd being carried out by a suicide bomber the moment one of the bombs exploded was captured by a Turkish t.v. Channel which was broadcasting at the time you know in all there was this little girl Bureau it's all going through similar. B.b.c. Correspondent and is in Istanbul this morning and sent this report where 2 attacks 2 bombings on the other on each side of Betty cash football stadium in the heart of Istanbul I'm looking out over it now from our office window we're very close to stadium and I can see that the scene of one of the attacks is being cleared that was targeting a police vehicle a riot police vehicle it was a car bomb that hit that vehicle and caused multiple casualties and on the other side of the stadium in March a car park is where a suicide bomber detonated his explosives killing others as well we now know that 29 people have been killed 27 of them were police 2 civilians and dozens more remain in hospital or several in intensive care we don't yet know who carried out this attack but the fact that it targeted right police and other units from the police suggests that it could have been Kurdish militants linked to the p.k. K. Because over the past year or so in which Turkey has been caught in this wave of bombings the p.k. K. Appears to have struck security forces while so-called Islamic states have hit more public areas remember that huge attack in Istanbul Airport back in July that killed 48 people and was blamed on I asked that was a classic i-s. Attack hitting a big public target this waiting for spectators to leave the football stadium after the man and then hitting police would seem to be the work of Kurdish militants but we're way to claim of responsibility present one spoke last night he said that with God's Will our country and our nation will overcome terror a terrorist organization that forces behind them but really this is the response that we get after each attack and yet they keep on coming. So to many here they will seem like empty words Turkey is on a heightened state of security when you walk around the city here in Istanbul and other big cities there are plenty of armed police everywhere x. Ray scanners have been erected in public at places and metro stations etc And yet this is a country of 80000000 people the border of Syria and Iraq and you know its geography has been its blessing in terms of its position and its prestige in the world but it's also its curse in terms of the security threats that he faces and has increasingly faces as Turkey becomes more in the Syria and Iraq fights and. Kurdish militants broke down the year and a half ago so you know there's a very grim grim here at the moment there's a gloomy mood this country feels vulnerable divided and last night shows shown once again how deadly attacks can strike at the heart of Turkey meanwhile the Foreign Office is updated its travel advice telling Britain's to stay vigilant avoid the area and follow the advice of the local authorities and read much more about this story for you have a look at the news pages of b.b.c. Radio show 16 minutes past I hope for your Sunday start a question got you on the them for some cryptic clue solving get into that on treasure Quest fairly sane now it's less than 3 weeks since the former crew defender and he would waive his right to anonymity to say he was a victim of sexual abuse as a young footballer since then more than 20 former footballers have come forward with allegations of historical abuse it's been a huge shock and the scale of the issue continues to emerge so what support is there in Nicholson is a chaplain at Woking football club and he's European director of 247 press an international movement of prayer mission and justice and joins me now good morning to you good morning good morning what's been the reaction to this in football from your experience. I think it's been I think the speed in the scale of which the revelations have come out as being you know shocking taken everyone by surprise I'm sure that you know football is football organizations are very well aware that there is always a risk in every aspect of society and you have to be vigilant but I think you know once Andy Woodward spoke out I think the way it's opened the dam if you like and it will come flooding out I think has shocked society as well as football how do you feel about it well it's shocking I mean you know when you see that the torments that these guys have shown as they as they talk about it it's just it's awful that you know what is a position of trust between coaches and young people. Has been abused. In this in this way it is awful I would say that I think the procedures now I don't know what they were like I was in a trap in 2030 years ago. I'm led to believe a lot slack whereas now the procedures are very very tight and you know people go through a lot of checks now and they're also always policies in place within clubs and so on so plus the f.a. And the Premier League and so on would have their own specialist safeguarding departments and then there are obviously the sports Chapman's as well $300.00 of them are in support around the country so I had to as a chaplain what support he was able to offer. Well I think I think Chaplin their main contribution is postural these people so we're involved at the grassroots with any issues that come up with a bereavement marriage struggles you know Dick you know plays struggling with addictions or whatever so the chaplain would often be involved in this with then include the safeguarding Department of their own clubs but also chaplains you know usually have church roots so they would then have us you know they would be able to access specialist pastoral. Gifting is within the church and obviously the church has had its own history of this issue over the last 20 or 30 years so there's been a lot of lessons learned and a lot of ways in which we can really support people the best and you mentioned that things have changed dramatically over the past 2030 years it is a safe environment now comparison trust that you're going to football clubs Well I think yes I think you know every every time we take our kids to school or to swimming lessons where we're handing them over into a position of trust and football is just the same so I think yes although I would say to parents if they have any questions or concerns just talk to the club and say you know who's your welfare officer can I see a safeguarding policy or whatever and that would how that would then I'm sure reassure them you can never eliminate risk at all but I am confident that the things that are in place now a minimizing risk it's a very tight ship as long as the priest C.D.'s are being followed so parents can talk to the club and make sure that's happening what needs to be done now to help football heal then. I think the most important thing is no coverups I think allow everything now to come out and I think that the way to healing is bringing things into the open and I think these guys have been incredibly brave and others must be encouraged to if they need to speak out whether it's publicly like that or in a more confined environment but they've often pushed these feelings down for many many years and that that is the way the trust will be rebuilt once people can see that there is openness and honesty and that people on a cover up then trust will rebuild and then football can move forward I think I think football you know it's just reflective of wider society I'm sure other sports have had or will have their own issues as well as well as other youth organizations so. Football is just the latest one that is needing to address this and hopefully the healing will come and lessons will be learned Ok thank you very much for time this morning Nicholson who is Chaplain a working football club and European director of 247 press we'll get some thoughts from Barry from united on that he's here to pause for thought in a moment. Making when someone's a for 21 minutes past 8 Marbury for mayor did I say morning good morning how are things very well thank you say all right you're here to pause for thought today if you. Take it away what's on your mind well it's the 3rd Sunday of Advent today and one of this morning's Bible readings is a particular favorite of mine it may be familiar to you it goes like this my soul magnifies the Lord and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior for he has looked with favor on the loneliness of his servant surely from now on all generations will call me blasted for the mighty one has done great things for me and holy is his name if you recognize them you may know that these words are from Mary song known as the Magnificat the outpouring of joy with which she told her cousin as a little birth of her pregnancy it's a wonderful song Mary seems to be completely blown away by the idea that God could even dream of using someone of such low status as her and more specifically her baby I'm sure all of us have stared at the face of a newborn baby at some point in our lives and it wouldn't surprise me if we all shared at least some of the same thoughts the same sense of wonder at a future not yet certain this bundle of promise and possibility my work takes me to some of the most trouble places in the world but wherever you travel a baby is still a baby looking at the face of a baby in the dark streets of of hell or in Brazil or in a village deep in the bush of South Sudan preparing to run from the advancing soldiers the same feelings arise what might this tiny person do how will they live where they carry on the lifestyle of their parents will they be the one who brings change will they sing songs of sorrow or songs of joy whatever the future holds at that moment they all hold the same possibility the same promise the same hope there's a famous Christmas song which you may know with a repeating refrain Mary Did You Know and it talks about the things that Jesus would go on to do. Mary may have had some idea she may have trusted what the angel told her but she could not have known what was to become of her baby that story had yet to be written in many respects 2016 has been a difficult year there's been much loss and there's so much uncertainty about the future but the message of Advent is that we may be in a period of waiting but there is hope you know it's always amaze me how football supporters are able to put the last season behind them and how they always begin the new season in a spirit of belief an expectation this season will be ours this season will be different this season will do it of course it may not turn out that way but we always start with belief that something better is on the horizon with hope and expectation and there is some of that same spirit in the season that I haven't. You know it's no coincidence that we celebrate advent in the middle of winter just as other faiths have festivals at this time too for in the darkness of winter the smallest flame can be enough to chase away the shadows as we rise in the dark and often return home from the day's work in the dark it can be hard to remember the warmth and light of summer when the flowers bloom and the fruit ripens But without that hope and expectation we would not plant seeds so Adventists my favorite time of year it's a time to put the past behind us and grasp the promise of the future to enjoy the excitement of what we don't yet know it's the story of a baby not yet born of a promise from God. This afternoon we will be lighting the 3rd of our Advent candles reading Mary's great song and taking a moment to hope so whatever your beliefs I'd like to invite you to light a candle today maybe picture the face of a baby you love and know the hope and promise of a future that has not yet been determined thank you very much Marbury from a.f.c. Telford I love that about football fans as well always ahead of a you know this season's best season will get it sorted yes this time we will win the World Cup and you always like their own way it is the more serious side of them was just a moment ago within Nicholson He's the chap in a working Football Club talking about the child sex abuse scandal you've had a chaplaincy role in your football how you feel about what's what's happened in recent weeks what we've learnt in recent we're all really deeply sad deeply sad. You know it's it's hard and having been involved in safeguarding in the church too it's hard when something that we love and something that we trust shows to have a darker side and a tragic side I have to say it hasn't surprised me not because of anything that I've witnessed particularly in football. But it is the same with church the same with the youth movements and so on you know we're all desperate for volunteers and we want children and young people to be involved because it's good for them and so it's it's an easy access point and we have to be aware of that and work really hard to ensure that what we hope for which is a better life for children is not just in what we do but in the way that we do it do you think there was a failure at the time with the sports chaplaincy. With sports chaplaincy. No I cannot be held responsible murder is it yes is it a bigger picture I think we all share some responsibility but I think it is a bigger picture you know and what worries me slightly at the moment is that the focus is on the professional football. And that's good that we're now exploring that and things are coming to light so changes can be made as Ian was talking about which is very encouraging that changes are made and you know I've worked to some extent with safeguarding now and it is a very different world than it was 5 years ago nevermind 10 years ago in terms of what we know and how we do it. But I think the thing that pains me is that you know in every town there are tens twenties of small amateur football clubs with with kids doing fantastic work helping young people with their confidence getting them fit cetera getting them to enjoy teamwork and all of that great stuff and most of them are desperate for volunteers and desperate for people to coach and I think in that situation we all need to be extra vigilant and we all have a play whether it's chaplains the professional clubs the f.i.a. Running their local leeks the schools it's such a we've all got a role to play in the sooner you know we get all this out on the table so we can work out how we go forward together the better and for the pastoral care of those who've been hurt and abused too great to see this morning thank you thank thank you very much enjoy lighting that candle light or I will have a good Christmas when you and you too old listeners like you very much Marbury from a.f.c. And Dramatic ending. Always on the spot about life gold is b.b.c. Radio shop share 20 minutes to 92 weeks today it will be Christmas what will Christmas be without angels and market greatness being inundated with angels over the coming week hundreds of them are going to be simply appearing around the town as a gift to whoever finds them she could get one of these it's a party to something that is really special which is happening next Sunday Ruth Jeffries the Methodist minister in market right is here to tell you bulk of morning to good morning what 1st will tell me about your angels we have examples of here they are gorgeous and I and these have all been next is by an army of I'm not being sexist but oh me of women from the churches in markets right and he would handcrafted them all individually and we're going to be tying them around town I have one in my hand which is it's kind of a turquoise in color with a very I guess that's a jumper that the engine is wearing there some sort of dress. Yes there they are dressed there although they are literally in every color we're just told that we just told the people who were knitting and crocheting to use whatever wall they had just to for them to be bright and colorful and beautiful so how many do you have we have over 700 of them believe it when I was there were to I was told the last the most recent number was 702 when I know there's still a few more to come and say So these are these are just going to be appearing as if by magic on the market rate base where yes hopefully there she'll just be flattering floating down and fight you'll find them tied to various bits of railings and other things so the invitation is to if you find one and you are more than welcome to take it home where are you going to leave them can you tell us that or is it you know top secret well. They'll be mostly in the town center. But you may need to hunt for them so we're going to spread them out so it would be a bit more a bit of a challenge hopefully but yeah I'm sure the kids especially we have a great time hunting out for Internet amazing if you just spot one is that there's one there yeah absolutely absolutely and what are you looking for to the reaction of people finding them and then telling you you know where they found them out absolutely we love if you find it posted on social media. To hashtags that you can use the hashtag for that there's a whole movement of these that started up in the northeast a couple of years ago they started they they made 3000 of them the 1st year and last year there were over $20000.00 of them across the country and so this year because it's kind of grown and grown and grown I have well I can't imagine how many thousands there are going to be across the country so there's a hatch hash tag Xmas Angel Ok Or if you want to kind of link it with a particular Market Drayton one and then if you could if you could hash tag hash tag Drayton angel then we'd be able to pick that up as one of ours in particular right frightening pictures. Before you know right now I mention this is all leading up to a special street Nativity next Sunday so it's a tell us about yeah we're really excited about this this is a 50 we've done it all of the churches together in Market Drayton and it's called the to cross to Bethlehem so if you know Market Drayton at the top of the high street and we have to put across which is just an absolute gift to use is the stable. Street from 438 next next Sunday say where it was kind of it will just be dark enough but not too late for families for children to be out. And we are doing a live Nativity now we're trying to avoid a live birth trying to if we can we do have midwives on standby just in case but that would be amazing if you did it I would bet it would be stressful but it would mean we have a 5 month old playing Jesus Ok so it's a little bit safer but we've got we've got animals with we've got some cattle we've just it was amazing. Somebody saw that we had no sheep and said oh I've got sheep so we're now going to see so that's great and I am couldn't get camels we were trying we wondered if we could drop so many camels around structure rather than the one might be able to dress up an alpaca as a carrier but we didn't want that that wouldn't work so well we've been absolutely blown away by the support from Sarah Weaver s. And Jack Wine who I contacted them and said You don't suppose you could give us some horses so we have 3 amazing horses one of which is that the film star was in War Horse which is exciting I say and they're all being dressed up carrying the Magi and so it's all going to be sort of on the rated and going on and gestures Street Market Drayton and what you'd be looking to do this again next year you know now you've started it well now I've started I would really love it if if it became an if. Became a regular thing am I makes the kind of the plumbing and the stress of a danish a kind of worth if we do it again but I guess we'll see what kind of reaction we get so they get lookout for angels on the streets of marketing hash tag Drayton angel if you can find board on Twitter they don't thank you very much for coming this morning rank you have a good series Jeffreys Methodist minister in market writing to look out for those angels all over the streets and in the street Nativity called but across to Bethlehem see great name by the way we start the hall for next Sunday and on tomorrow as pressure in Perry will be a market right in to meet one woman who is needed $150.00 angels for that special event to hear that on tomorrow's breakfast show. It's nice in a way to know that it's not fail that all although the pressure seems to be on and also doesn't seem to be in any technical problems which kind of you know makes me think that maybe maybe all along when he had a theory that once Paul Shuttleworth appeared on the show things started going wrong technically so it was all right for starters then Care About half 10 we had trouble getting getting through and he was blaming shots for it so we don't know if there's any truth in that. Because they were. Taught by part of the part of it that should be. Because there is just a tad just like they did last season cross it in the right to watch Teddy Teddy Teddy but it's a down the line I object to put it like that the day actually was hoping for right of center figure sent in to us at Popeye's was almost nonstop words which is not a good thing to commentator to say how nervous was that towards the end is he holding on one end of it at such a tough places mental Yeah I mean 2nd off we have to say we've stunned a lot of pressure and the way that they play a very direct bulls in your box and you know the size of it with a lot Smith you kind of just worry that you're going to you know maybe succumb to that in the end but you know if South also makes them defending Jess and made some good saves more 1st off I think than 2nd event 2 with 2 or 3 good saves. Thought would play very well so overall you know I'm delighted to have with the performance the efforts of the players and you know it's a very ardent 3 points. Crashed out of the f.a. It's getting tenuous now isn't it. Golding locks I like that for Golding Golding locks for him Goldilocks in the 3 but we're not sure if that is a pantomime is it Goldilocks has been in some sort of pantomime along the way John just says Have you had Jack field in the bin stalk yet I think that was that was John T.'s shining moment but that was the one that he was most proud of these are good in a bad way thank you very much for them if you want to keep those coming that's fine 813 double 3 if you texting just push up at the starting a message to get some magic beans then. The garden center string. Clicking free that's. The. New. School. Which. Was the school. You. I was. Playing. The. Blood game. To play at. School. Is to keep come. Just. As Nolan stood. Because you're looking. To skill up a little skill up Radio Shropshire nowhere how he was having to love plants and demonstrate how they said they are. Surrounded by shrubbery and Christmas trees have been the right place if you fail in festive there's a whole grotto inside more of that later good news it's I'm here with Sam we have to have a 3 way to preserve. Excellent news I got a sight sometimes raring to go but as a gentleman here that is pine a Christmas tree is a far as a foreigner Well we look and I have 1st of all he said was this gentleman by this gentleman is buying a month so these are very good very good trees they hold the needles very well and it's all right with the warmth in the ice which a lot of the sort of traditional species don't which would cause him to drop when he knows. These originate from sort of Eastern Europe and Russia Georgia but these of course will be grown in Scotland for Oh really so some of the grow more locally that yeah I mean all the trees we sell here are you know the Wales or Scotland so we don't use local growers to just walk across border and jam enjoy your tree taken 2 of them to lift out of the car that's the fun bit isn't it's him getting into the car I think so yeah again Jenny in the in the car and then into your house without knocking over your own once you take it in a car. That's the father Ryan a you you're not truly free person or do you go for the fake i have to fake I'm afraid to say he'd say that very tardy person so that's the thing you know they have Yeah I'm a plus plus I can put up as early as I want then and it's still going to be looking good by Christian because you know I did like Normally of course of course the offers that. I won't steal his thunder he's been practicing this all morning here is 10 drum roll please did you hear say number 3 Ok so the clue is fry a talk might have hunger aimed at a building on this right now you've got the beans find one for Ok so solid pleasure love plants that start leisure and I'm still unsure if that means anything to you I want some 43248321 as well as buying Christmas trees there's all sorts of things there's a lot of things that if the kids as well remember that something might even be Santa is here today yeah and he's in his grotto helping him and they're going to come along and see him plenty to see this is great and it's nice to be able to wander around choose your Christmas tree. Like a philosopher Absolutely and we can always help you if you're not quite up to the challenge. Ok I want 743248321 is my 1st treasure quest but Joel I had absolutely no fail is plenty already this year so please how does don't let it be a failure on the 1st one but we can. It's now before Christmas Cammy that's just no there's no more no fun 44 minutes on the clock so if you can help with this clue Friar Tuck might have hung around a building on this road fright up from Robin Hood to continue the pentode theme Friar Tuck what sort of building would he hang around with and a road for these named after that particular building the what we're looking for where you might find a fryer or 2 now that you've got the beans find what Jack swaps them for that's more specifically where he needs to go to and it is one of our favorite establishment on treasure Quest it's one of those hostelries that is named after our to see 6 I can't say the word but he's excited by that he's named after that particular thing that Jack swaps the magic beans for yeah yeah in order to get the magic beans he swapped this working backwards if it means anything to you 017-432-4832 was the vote over or you could text 813 double 3 just push rop at the start of your message do you once a month John did you want some more plant open names. Drop Chapin type on names I don't do you want some more Panther Party name so. I was just that's right yes I would love some up what about what about Puss in Wellington boots. Oh wow did we don't think Chris and Barbara near the Wrekin have gone without and Barbara also says what about the character from The Wizard of Oz was Tree of the dark Dorothy Clive garden. There's no place like. This is good we have had Dick Whittington Paul Shuttleworth Yes we have. Well we have not babes in Donington work though but that's Ok because coming. King of the palms Paul Shuttleworth head out so this is a dozen for the rest of the show keep those coming in and to try and solve Clue number 3 if you can it's kind of a sideline view. Of the. Our . Son in. To the quest. Because he went to keep. To hook a gate 1st stop this morning from Peter Pan roses What about longer Johns silver. Good longer John Silver goody 2 shoes Barry as been suggested as well that works this is good have you still got clean number 3 there jaunty I have again it's not quite as far but we're going to. See this from Friday hung around a building on this road now you've got the big ones find what jocks what the fall so hopefully it will all make sense and Freddie and based on the Hill will be able to explain it all for us morning Fred how you today do but you're right now where do you think this clue is taking Jonty Well the swap the beings for right looking Don't go. In now before our riots are hanging around and happy so yeah yeah you know what. He's absolutely spot on Fred that's where he's off to thank you very much for that we're everybody thank you very much same to yourself and enjoy the rest of the day what you're up to today not a lot just take me easy I am not a bad idea you do that have a good look are fair play I hear. Have a good but what you my friend do thanks Fred thank you very much also working out that it was the Dun Cow I doubt we forget was Alan from sure he was on the money with this all Sandy was thinking Horman Dappy got the Abby part to not far away and also Tim and grace in got this high to Tom Sally and David got it Aiden tore me in had it all were absolutely spot on as well working out that it was the done cow in Abbey forget the you need to go towards their John t. So that makes sense doesn't it. A pleasure and just sort of down the road really really go wrong. By the way also working that I had some more pantomime suggestions what about Else many else me and Button's hill from city Cinderella. You're working too hard at this really. Any way you get in search of the final play if we've got time in between pantomime problems . We'll have that before 11 o'clock that night when I promise to come up with something truly awful in the. Next sort of. Thank you John Jay will speech in a bit merry Christmas from your station b.b.c. Radio show have you heard what some say is the greatest story ever told a man. Writes dark and I popped along say a couple of friends and we were just chatting away like 3 wise men and there's a knock at the door and a bloke polls up at the door with a donkey on the end of Getting. Ready for Christmas. Quest as well. Going to end up at the Prince Charming of Wales in Bellevue today well you'll have to wait and see you'll have the final clue for you same but that's another good suggestion there for Pantai puns this is very good because John t. Started by going to the Captain Hook a gate this morning which isn't but the shop to place names to appear in pantomime characters pantomime names John John says I'm unable to list much today has Peter patent been suggested that was another challenge I'd get you on a par with I don't know if you're you should be proud of that but that was another one that he suggested I do like Peter pant and Cinderella Dein is another one of my favorites still going that can't keep the suggestions coming that will be a final clue as well on the tragic question if we've got time for that to get John to his final stop by 11 today 60 sequence we can see b.b.c. Radio Shropshire but now let's bring on the seasonal sixty's. Hollow the. Long holiday season. And the Christmas you'll only. Good Sunday to come and. It's the season. For a good rule and good looking. Great big bundle of joy. Seasonal 60 sequences with Andy Williams Happy holidays from The Andy Williams Christmas album which came out in 1963 last Let's get a guess then on that Beach Boys song Little Saint Nick 1st of all let's go to John Law Eve and I before got ensure our guys high guy on the ice great show. You what you reckon the year for the Beach Boys little Saint Nick what are you going for well I always said in 63 for about 8 weeks you did it with yeah. I shouldn't do that I got. Tossed out but I am going to say no in 67 and if that's wrong I'm going to keep saying 67. It's a good strategy and eventually it did work yeah yeah I did so. You're going 68 tally. You're both wrong here Joe Johns he was closer because it was 964644 the Beach Boys little Saint Nick was quite impressive sticker on your myths and near Old St Nick you wonder where it was going didn't you did it. That way yeah I know there are some great rhymes I think it both of those songs yes it was more focused on rhyming than said yes many respects doesn't have to make sense it's Christmas Christmas it's fine bar you can get away with it so junky You are the Dun Cow an hour before gay is this correct. Yeah but I bet a lot of the post office just down one further down it's got a there's a big hole next to it where they do the construction and it looks like the dunk house being propped up by big good at the moment such an historic pub. Yeah it's a lot of development around here but I need to go far closer before well I'll let you go in search of that and I will check in with you with clue for them for down the big hole though. Now I do my best I mean right things have happened before so I should be careful yet just be careful always be careful always wait always waving and always looking everywhere because of although not always well that's the problem because he's too busy waving or I was speaking a bit. Thank you John we'll get that solved to get his final stop hopefully by 11 o'clock today because then Paul's talking food there's an event on there's an event Anya have a look through there the big lights on or yeah I noticed this yes the big lights oh outlines the big light on not normally the big light is not on in the studio we may be having some theater really oh no you're not oh yes we are Chris Burt is coming in and he's going to make something and throw something together last time I invited him to throw together he actually did that made to do it by throwing things across the studio. Actual throwing throwing that made it look so artistic so I'm not saying that was throwing it on today however there is food preparation going on live in the studio so I chanced to watch it on Facebook as well hence big light and see if he's going to see what's going on actually see what's going to be on Facebook but I'm a little nervous about always doing things with theatrical Chris as much as I love him because it does get very theatrical in many ways we're also talking about critters menus alternative things that you can do if you want to spice it up a bit I mean I quite frankly I'm a lover of a nice big turkey that he could never have too much of this time of year I don't think however I do appreciate some people looking for alternatives and also we'll have a chat to one of the operations team over the Peachtree on the logistics of doing Christmas Day menus and working Christmas Day and how you fit that sort of scene with cooking and serving everybody I mean what does that make you want to do in your own time do you do do it all again. And always at a loss for you I mean you know there are Christmas dinner all day I don't know any more so Chris was there in the service industry and what ever Chris is going to throw together in the studio coming up between 1112 after 12 Catherine will be hailed from the as he wore garden to answer questions if you have anything that you need help with regarding the garden or plants are you looking to buy presents for somebody and you want to find out what will fit where and of course she's an expert on the old fruit and vege So if you've had good or bad experiences with any one of the bit of help and advice from might be next she is planning on how to nail whatever it is used juggling with it's a good opportunity to give her a call and ask the expert after me date you give us a call that was involved 3 to 4 right 32 what if you need help and advice with gardening. Cooking. Just after 11 you're sure you'll be able to watch. Watch this morning everything. Shaved and everything. With the big lights on after 11. names and panto character named Peter Pan and his friend when the where we've not had when feature so far have we John c. No not now where more please more d. And jammed ourselves Snow White and the river 7 Dwarfs was good how do we all think our 100000 that's a prayer for there is a general sense that will shut up don't if that if that's the level now actually maybe you've piqued maybe maybe you should just you know leave it there it may have happened now yet snow and the river 7 Dwarfs That's my favorite list I think so John say you were going in search of Clue number 4 there in the dunk hour an hour before gate I certainly was amongst the beer of the food we have close before we look for it was originally Ok we better hear it from you Ok live from the dunk hour before 3 to 4 is this Sleeping Beauty need you to be handsome prince just find where she's rested so was the sort of establishment where Sleeping Beauty was sleeping in and if you can work out where there's an establishment of that nature not far from before gate intrusion where John 2 years giving nothing away here then that is where he needs to go I can't guarantee that Sleeping Beauty is actually going to be there Jonty unfortunately. It's a shame because I know you've got your handsome prince of Tire on ready for such as always there ready to pucker up so I beg your pardon yes pucker up last right oh one's. 43248321 to find them but if you think you know where that could be taking gave clamorous assisting Katherine the vigilant call you could text 813 double 3 just push up at the start the message you can also x. Marks the spot. Let's hear it once again if you want Ok is this Sleeping Beauty might need you to be her handsome prince just find out where she's rested so the sort of building where a Sleeping Beauty slept What was that was quite a glamorous big building and if you could think of one of those town center then that is where John t. Needs to head to get to the treasure the small Xander thoughts in this direction so that we can send him in that direction meantime you just hang out there by the big hole at the Dun Cow You didn't fall in the other 30 it was a bowling alley was it where Sleeping Beauty was sleeping. It was in a bowling alley Now I know all about and I keep guessing. The classic classic fairy tale Sleeping Beauty put to sleep for a 100 years in a bowling alley. It's not what this means I. Guess I'm sure we'll get there we can get you. Always got it now it's not it was the power. Of the. Roxy Music lovers the drug b.b.c. Radio show. And I'm just trying to solve clear number 4 if you still got out there John say I have Sleeping Beauty need you to be a hound's Prince just fine where she is rest where could they speak Stretton thinks that she's resting with the prince and so the Prince Rupert hotel in. First saw it contradicts it way the way yes it does although she generally resting alone isn't she in the story. I don't know I'm not from. The pump so stories is it theater 7 says travel from Telford think he could have gone full circle here and gone bankrupt of the theater that's very interesting thinking doesn't happen often either it doesn't know that to do the entire loop that would be nice we do that one time I would put it on our list of treasure quests to do which Jodan was very keen on coming up with ways of making the treasure get harder once he'd finish this he wants want one done on foot one revolves around a mud run the that Catherine the good can spin deceive us did one of those Exactly so so she'd have to do that one and then he wants to do treasure Quest International of course he does that yeah it's a funny you'd want to do that as well wouldn't you well you know now and again we sort of get lost into Wales us bombs into. Thinking anyway the good news is Sandra also Annette in Mark's didn't have managed to work out and also Trish and Terry injuries brain have worked out that you should be going to Shrewsbury castle because she was sleeping in a castle says. You need to head towards the castle and around there somewhere you should get your treasure or are one or more out of all the castles and shoot because definitely my favorite so great you think it's your favorite because so of all of them Trinitarian to say also what about grit saw. The Hansel and Gretel but. It would be the 1st. Saw it into the words. In the Red House lovely yellow it all right you make your way to the cart and hopefully we'll hear from you in the next 9 minutes there let's hope so thank you thank you John to your speech a bit. Lead know each shoe box doggie giving time hell break handles midday today for all the doggies left in rescue over Christmas about 50 dogs with another 3 to 400 being handed out across the country through team pound the serve you dropping your shoe boxes off for the dogs that would be great to see there everyone I am please think about adopting a dog as well money that to to have a little look around thank you man they hope that goes well today so he'll break Canales it is their shoe box doggie giving time today from midday have a good one thank you very much for getting in touch if you do and that 813 double 3 is the tax number just push rop at the start of your message or check in with John so again say he's heading towards Shrewsbury castle. Well hopefully when he's there I would we don't think Sleeping Beauty Is that but he's treasuries so if he gets there he's got to and he hasn't failed on his 1st Treasury Quest back in a while hopefully then why have success. I'm going to be in trouble for this or my plan of a Christmas song because it's 2 weeks to go down time to fight is all the time and this is one of the. New ones which is magnificent from Jamie Cullum she'll of. That. Everywhere. It's such a wondrous of. Show me. Keep you honest with. You. Now blanket. And show. You. Is that the sound of. Us. In the street. That choose love. And show me. I mean you know that there are there is there is a checklist isn't there for Christmas songs about what they have to have and they have to have in the. Big band I think should be on the checklist and Jamie Cullum has got. You know the ultimate Christmas and he's ticked all the boxes there with show me the magic one of the 2016 Christmas song offerings 2 weeks today. There's been a slight pantomime theme on request a b.b.c. Radio show because Johnny started things at 37 ensure he's very aware of course the paths by result you've got round to saying it maybe it is on your list maybe you got those tickets you were excited about going Jones he was there outside air express exactly to fit a 7 parking space but that doesn't exist by the way we made that up earlier he went to Captain Hook a gate and the new in there he was love plants an emissary picking up some magic beans this is where the tenuous pantomime suggestions come from and there he was most recently at the Dun Cow like Jack swapped for the magic beans on. And then off to find Sleeping Beauty asleep in a car saw how you getting on John c. I can confirm that Sleeping Beauty is either a slave or avoided me completely out of this week's tragedy that made me feel.
