But there's this great quick chicken Well it's a Lamborghini but I did it with chicken and you just basically wizzard up 10 cloves of garlic and chilli and all the ingredients in a food processor and then you just put thing of coconut milk in. And cook the chicken and it kind of half an hour and it is absolutely off say it's nice it's kind of out for you he said. When he thought that it was made around. Sounds incredibly simple it is really simple she calls it quick Lambourn and it really is quick and it's. Infallibly good text lovely part of all now that's the end of the program. The program be very impressed by your age and now because you're going to help us with the Friday 50 now this is what the Friday 5th new listeners want to we're talking about from On Fridays we do 50 because for sound the same on Friday fifty's I invite people to contribute and if we get 50 go and if I don't have a copy of the Bill of an average Blue Tit has got longer because of how good we are feeding birds I'm told so with our obsession for birds in mind the Friday 50 I'm asking you to name me a type of bird to add to the Friday 50 does it have to be in this country I'll check with my producer No Yes. Ok well my letter you're thinking of a bird doesn't come from the Don't say any more about its name would you not to describe it it's wings b. I think it's 2nd a 2nd get that you like a 100 times in the 2nd of right it's got bt wings Yeah. Yeah. Yeah probably School of the barrow Have you ever seen one Yes Ok I don't tell as yet I think you know he's not into what you're saying you know. The more you're talking about right what's yours going to look like it is quite small it's got very very long claws on its feet. It's quite a long Baek right. Color is kind of brownish and I've I got one in my tiny garden during my house still even though it's October yeah I don't think they migrate I don't know that much about birds but I think I've still got them coming to my Betty Gride So the 1st 2 that go on the laced shorts how many how many birds and a tree creeper tree creep. Lives Why. Prices to ferritin mind. And why we got here to my garden every year so yap and what habit do. Basically it's just a small. Scene bird from the Bronx in some way and he should rightly call it a yellow we would Browns that will banish jet and tiny brown wings and he's just a very pretty Aren't you know does it make any whistling sounds a little you know it's got a little sort of cheer and whistle do you think you're up to giving us a little example of its chip and whistle on the radio. No I don't think I am going . Anywhere that thank goodness there. Are these 2 are smiling at you thanks very much Mark he's in a car but not driving 80 necking to Sid got into to say this I walked this morning at Crystal picks. Didn't see you said we were interviewing I was infamous security man I presume for your rough and random spot he says I should have stopped and spoken Sid You most certainly should we met some lovely people you would have been as lovely as any of them but we did we had a great morning Crystal peaks me an Raf thank yous next Tuesday that ritual in bars . Nominates a missile that Rush Robin rather I'm nominates he's already sure to can in the garden but he was just a crow eating a banana thank you very much and. I don't encourage him found it early it wants to go on but the line went so sorry Rob good job Julian Wells barges I swallowed a coal miner and it's an oyster cash it catches on fire break last week then says Joe decorator on the day my dad died I saw a heron for the 1st time and now I see one regularly when I go to the cemetery to. Graham says about the chaffinch for the Friday 50 have a great weekend my friend all the best to you thank you how about a red car it says Graham was the one with the chaffinch Michael in rather I'm a grouse pheasants and partridge Rob says all men but these bespectacled spider says no no no birds somebody says the spectacle spider never ever had a night job from in Mansfield and lots more coming on in the Yellow have. Birds and lovely things that children and flop around and fly we're going to over something really kind of isn't doesn't always encourages But I think the story will in the long run we asked a question of 2 guests in the studio about something that surprised them and what you came up with was agent was that you went to give a talk about it and you were surprised how many people were anxious in the audience and that's led us to talk a fair about your own anxiety. Yeah about 3 years ago I had a sudden onset of absolutely crippling anxiety I've had the odd panic attack what I thought was a panic stop before you know when you feel a bit anxious and you know you want to get out somewhere but this was absolutely crippling I was I could phobic I couldn't go out if I went are in the car when I get out the car and it was just this overwhelming feeling of dread that something terrible was going to happen to me and I ended up in a and in about 4 times with with what I thought were the symptoms of something terrible but it was it was like something in me was saying you feel really worried so there must be peace and and I was scouting around for it and. And the medical profession Well Ok they want to give you a tablet and sometimes they're really helpful but I need to get kind of underneath it a it was an endocrine condition or how this this gland called the power of thought that it was overworking that had to be treated but I also had to learn to live with they are as I say it was almost as if everyone used to say to me Oh you're very calm you're always really so I think if you yeah you're always really together and I think all the all the feelings that I was having a pool and a little cup it. And thought I'll deal with them in other day or traumas that hard and I think suddenly this condition opened the cupboard door and I can shift it again and I had to actually befriend the anxiety and study friend there. So that I've put in yeah it was almost like. Especially in my body it was very physical Racing Hall feeling the hot water was being poured on the back of my neck and ice into my stomach and how to kind of say to it Ok what are you trying to tell me about who I am and how I live my life. And a lot of it was to do with the traumas of how to in the past my dad died when I was 11 my mom was in middle world for 6 months we had no not for a lot of Ilan odds but I've never really faced it faced was done to me that there was all of this every time something bad happened all of our society would come rushing back at you recognize this rush to go because a lot of our parents suffer with an anxiety with their children and. The children themselves that autistic autistic children themselves there are levels are ridiculous my son Jaden. He's 12 and he presents now as a selective meet and that's just me he won't speak so if he if he was here now he would hide behind me and then he would just say hello and he would say it say hello to my back say hello and then also have to say he says hello but he wouldn't actually say to you here he won't talk but he talks to me at home but he won't talk to you when you talk about parish I mean people with a similar conditions to His know I'm talking about parents who have children with autism that you know through your charity Yes and that's because even though he now with our children we don't know what they're going to do because it's all in predictable simple you want. It's because most of our public don't really come from being out with our child it comes from people looking at oh yeah I think you know our children I know so the anxiety of going outside. Is there a happy ending to your story Yeah well one I've got a fantastic g.p. Who just kept pursuing this high calcium in my books just as a chemical Co Yes Well partly I think it's partly chemical It was partly it always been there and this allowed it to come forth. So that I had surgery the only way to cure that was to have the blood removed but they are exactly didn't go away straight away in fact I can still feel it in my life but I've kind of learnt how to live with it and I think that's one of the key things that I've learnt about it is . The body doesn't lie. I remember in a self-help book it said he probably had a very good reason to feel some point to really address. And so now you need to address it. One of the things that I've learned is that walking outside. Is a massive cure yes. But not immediately but if you do it regularly over the the months. Begins to lower the fight flight reflex. To. The tops and she just has this effect of calming and the other thing is writing for me. Don't tell me until I get more anxious than ever when I write my poems he just didn't get it oh yeah I get it out well I've learned from things on the run listen to radio Thank you think about it. And some of the topics in the next half hour of the program will also be here for some more birds of course came in touch with a bird saying a true for thank you very much and they. Played his favorite is a lowly blue he's being sarcastic about Sheffield Wednesday there and there are 5 birds from Dave Thunderbird one to stay for 5 that's really lovely thank you. News for South Shields and. James afternoon rolling at the moment still some delays to the north of Sheffield would get past. That's when he said we need a 3 well I think. The root of one of those are motion which one is going to well connected to the yellow can make a joke about the choice of a red all these other might have done a cake with a goshawk and that was what we haven't had still looking for the folks notable one for 62 and 3 when you get in touch with us I'd like to know why you are so cross about your car parking paying up that you mentioned in your notes for this conversation leash not cross about I'm happy about oh yeah why because I'm always looking for least I am looking for trying to I don't carry around loose change of me all the time and sometimes I've got I think I'll cut across the shop if I leave my car and go to the shop when I get a ticket so yeah well you know it's. Then I get the car press stop and it will charge my card straight away enough to me thank you stay cool. Very by phone you're cool with the. Whole thing about Oh my God. They're very up to date with their votes yesterday on this program we heard from grace Bolsover who's a fabric store. More market this is what she had to say about the importance of fabric. Fabric when you think about it is very important because I think the big day I have a concept blanket which is fabric then. When they're going to get married they want beautiful fabric for the counter the bridesmaids and then when they've got their little houses together they decorate. And they always say I'm going to dress the window and sadly just say when you. Break inside you. Know like Mom will be right not to tell you that today just because you're right don't you only read that's right yeah yeah she was wonderful grace was and we had a lovely time we got talking on the show about the clothes that we come back to chuck away I suppose you 2 got some closure denture quote we used to wear yours and you just said 957 I think I think it looks great I think it is nice. Yeah yeah Oh thank you trendy like you. Describe it and for listeners or not in the studio where there's a rat crumby Wesco is it well and I say yeah so fashion you know it's kind of corrupt very boring tautly want to write but you just don't know anybody starting to now you're doing toughy one of my neighbors once he got this phone he was very carefully looked after bed Yeah well there's a story behind well he tried to be young he's understood her No No The thing that shocked me was I was coming out the showroom a couple of days ago and a gentleman of the street walked past and he went through looks like a. House ship with a murder if that's all. I don't say. It was a bit wild west of the. Trim to try and look a little. Bit More Country Gentleman. Story is Craig you've been to see the Van Gogh film you know living Vincent What's he like is a cartoon it's not some limited it's like being in a van gogh painting 1st time minutes it's quite weird. Because it's got the style of our go off that's flowing and moving. But you get used to it and it is like spending an hour and a half in his artwork and it's all about his last days of his life and the fact they never sold a painting and yet now they sell for 25 and also whether he was murdered or no he's not yes that's right it was a it was beneath you to fill us well they don't come they speculate that he might have been shot by some bully and in the village and that he didn't really want to take his own life it's hard to know there's a tortured soul but his vision of the world and of people and of nature is electrifying is just so beautiful and so I found the film very calming and very relieved nice about a man who was deeply troubled you were going to bungle through you. Not really you know but I've seen quite a few. Well quite lovely is where I think East ending though I do think it's Tony still playing would you tell us about the other we began with talking about the food the deed cook pretty soon became really very easy and cheap chicken curry What about your roti Well there are you say yes roti we say you know. True time to buy a car which is where my mom comes from so. Yeah my cousin job all the way from banning him to pretty high road. So he has got. Have to have a flat pan and he she might you might go know what she might tell you you know he's not taking no for you. It's all going to. Get some. Kind of and then you have my we do the one way chickpeas inside so you carry this cheap piece separately and you spin inside the nice make it back in support and then you roll the out so it's least for the inside site of the inside of the Joe and then you get a flat surface and the flat pan and you cookie and then 50. Dollars he's like that but he's got a cheap piece inside so and then once you've done that you have to have like something Corey we. Call it go to Corey Corey read me. Say so I just made my own like vegetable curry and I put. The spirit of it yeah I've only just started. To be vegetarian for about 5 years and then the stops and don't know what happened to decide to relapse but I'm back again Oh I'm back to be you know your own yeah I have so you know because I'm quite creative in the key chain so I can make loads of different dishes you can all use and if you've. Got to fish maybe you know what you could buy knows by now because in the shops at the moment vegetarian sausage rolls you've also you do any taste so cool it a little firm. When you look at me like that. They don't feel very much to me you didn't answer the question cause I forgot to ask you about the clothes. They were told when I was teasing him about his clothes. You wouldn't pinks. Goff my friend my friend Margaret Di eat and. When I met she was very in that pink scar and then I. Was giving out things to everybody and he did not know and he said Lisa want to give you this and I went back to think scoff and he said Yeah he said always one of the moderates and she was. And I went That's the pink scarf when I 1st met That's the scarf that she wore and he said really I said honestly he didn't even know so that was to. Make you think this is a change in the way we do that after. The funeral was given Well I've been to one where people have given away on others or clothes or books or was like. Oh that's the position or things they were just I don't have the lovely idea but they're normally give you out like candles or something that you know with something about the date also you know me by stuffing my little momentum is that way book I think that's most. I think it was it was for me it was it touched me really days I will not throw that scarf away and then now I think it's yeah. Something else is like her. Just including a woman who got the christening gown that she died for a child in $142.00 of the small children she smelled it for us on the radio. Yeah yeah smell is powerful jumper moments and it's obvious most of I can't go near it too often it can really really makes me cry but yeah yeah I think those bustle of with into the other thing I forgot to tell you was about these b.b.c. Did it a show called the colony and it was on he was on television and I think he's recorded back in the seventy's 66 days and they played him somebody called me said . I look so my mom was singing on there with her. But the most important thing is another voice and it was my grandmother. And I've had my grandmother. She died 23 years. She had McCrimmon with boys and I had I was like Ok mother that's what I meant and then she did you know we're not going to fear always since I was so happy but sad at the same time I had a voice after 23 years. And I. Really hear of a lovely weekend you too with my producer says he can't remember what your bird was so I can't remember where you my homie he is say. He's saying I'm sorry. For the language. The band around that could be that way that's right but then if I think that within That's right yes I think my feeling Yes and I'm not always right because obviously I get lost every week I think just follow on a straight ahead and write if we were going right is the one which has a. Scientists claim that the beacon of the year of some birds have got booted him particular of got bigger because they get Fed buys with they we feed him the beast get bigger so they can eat more food I don't believe it either but that's what we're told so we're collecting 50 birds we've got to thirty's so much last time I heard this is John in John Feal. Radio Sheffield. B.b.c. Radio Sheffield thank you very much it was a read when you had done a bird. Might be a bit naughty. You know. But anyway this did appear on Radio Sheffield back in 2010 and it was called the flap. Flap f l a. And we talked about on the breakfast program. Round about April the 1st. Believe your e.o. Line I think we had people ringing and. And one of my colleagues pretended to go out he was in the car park and he pretended to be an aura Loeffler I've remembered anyway. When I think after he did that mating call someone rang out and said It's been on my roof. Actually with anyway that. Is the One Ring may or may Stratford on the Katy thank you that's a but I'm not sure whether was to be allowed to have it goes it was a pretend one for April or 1st but there we go Frank in them x. Because that would have a $43.00 a vulture or a car each or a pelican says his wife Celia $44.00 the green woodpecker from Genie can aside that eats its Phillips says a kestrel you see more. Fields than anywhere else $46.00 Col says there's a pear cormorants on more whole reservoir and there are night jobs on warm crying's Jeff in Chesterfield says running what about the sparrow when I have a good and south they say to me people north of got the biggest sparrows and. Radio Sheffield which is my pleasure and it's lovely to be here we're still collecting the Friday 50 we're getting there I think we're 47 the last I heard we're looking for 50 birds on a day in which it's a village some birds Bieksa got bigger because we feed them rancid shagging comes with a quail. Comes up with something that's not written down yet so we need Dave's answer and one more number can all go home at 3 o'clock and listen to b.b.c. Radio Sheffield home Roni on b.b.c. Radio Schaeffer you might have heard my bearing guest all already on the breakfast show he's kept his sleeping bag and he's now in the studio to talk to me Steve Pycroft who is the manager of the kaleidoscope orchestra who are playing 2 rather special gigs Sheffield City Hall this weekend we're going to hear about why that is but before that I'm going to wake Steve with bedding a little bit questions are you prepared to have a go I am ready are you sure yes. Why or brown bread white can you keep a secret Yes good what secret. Tell me. Teenage crush. Ok when is that really. Right what. Would you like chips with that kind of question they ask Would you like. A latte or take the last. Best room in your house their bedroom. Last person you call my girlfriend you know can you saying yes. Buddy Rich can you give me the name of a bird. Not that it's a thing that might make the 5th day. Oh you're very welcome to be a takeover in addition. Well I was a little more just larger i.o.t. But you know. I am yeah I mean if given the choice I live out of black coffee. That's a big push for other women well now I'm not going on the carpet. That the last person who called. Why isn't she with you she's in Aberdeen looking after little babies she's a neonatal nurse so she's coming to the show tomorrow night but yeah for now she's trying to catch up on sleep ready for work how did you meet her I met through music I play in a band called Jazz one of the trombone players his brother so that was an interesting conversation what he turned she turned to watch him puffing and blowing getting spittle of Absolutely yeah and when did you intervene and sort of get in the well being the drummer I kind of took the center stage in Germantown and they're obviously impressed they say things about drummers down they would you know just sort of share that with us anything I have I used to get lots of jokes about you know what do you give to a. Musician to dream state. My response is always What do you do to rubbish drama take one stick away and make them conduct. And you do that as well as I do yeah yeah yeah good to drumming. In Rotheram I was I was in rather a music service and I played clarinet for several years and I was always distracted by the drums and the percussion and. And then a very good friend of mine Steve who's a rather grim guy as well and he taught me everything I know really prepared me for the the real world journey from roll the road so after all the time I got into Manchester University and I went there to study classical music started gigging a lot playing the drums. Eventually did a masters in composition and that's when I started the kaleidoscope orchestra can you just read a bit of that for people who don't get up in the morning yeah absolutely I myself included the kaleidoscope orchestra while. Passionate about is bringing all kind of all of my experiences together so coming to classical music I mean to dubstep into house music. It would be academic they're. All these things I thought I'd be called to bring them together because to see different audience members experience different music and that's what they said and it's all about this this weekend bringing 2 very different audiences together do you think though you will tell as you look out on them. I think so yeah I think they'll be a surprise on everyone's face because the classical people will be here in. The air ready to clap you know as they'll get people on the feet dancing and yes can be interesting is what fascinates me and it's why a kaleidoscope watch is a big divide in music. Because the real musicians can read music and do a lot contra there's an element. Here there's an element of that I think there's a slight snobbery on both sides I think you know in any militia's way but I noticed being around both sides that there's a almost a bit of an ignorance or maybe not people don't pay attention to the other side of things and I just thought I'd be fascinating for electronic produces you know people who write music on the computer and fascinating for them to see a violinist playing their music live and similarly you know classical musician playing the music of someone that they listen to on the radio or wherever I just fascinates me bringing those 2 things but you are your own story includes. Joining boys' clubs who knew absolutely yeah yeah I was in and I was in orchestras and then in bands that were playing late night clubs in choirs and I had such a wide kind of exposure to music I really love bringing it all together and saying what happens you describe yourself for these interviews being generous and loving and funny didn't you think a lot of you. Did. So I. How is that they want to put myself down and. Generous in the sense of what you need leave money be and when you've been to pleasure yeah by drinks all the time and things absolutely what about living I just I think wife can be sure. To be around the people you care about and people that care about you and so yeah people think you're only 30 you know exactly where people are so there's a time shortage much of their Yeah rather than looking for other and the only one you've already proved which is gray Partridge is my guest in the studio talking about the show that's coming up which is also discussing his life in charge of others as well there's a very interesting answers for your opening questions going to come but to some of those before we finish like to know why your ambition includes I'd like to jump out of applying it's just something I've always been fascinated by. Yeah yeah are you ready for the already well I don't know you know 1030 like I said. Now it's something I've seen friends who've done it and I just think it basics with Raylan is you know crazy thing and why not b.b.c. Radio Sheffield Steve part of the piece of music fever to the fore Yes what is a song by Nick. I mean that was the hardest question to answer it was a piece of music to pick I mean I didn't know I'd start you know what I like about Nick's music is he really kind of seems to do ideally expose himself to music he's to be in a contemporary jazz ensemble called the Portico Quartet and then moved on to do his own singer songwriter stuff and I really admire that and I think his musical style and things stay constant but he kind of seems to go in and out of different music different styles and the main thing I love is they say very organic sounded an awful lot of music these days is very regional and organic all the instruments. You can hear them being played there is their imperfections that the singing isn't perfect and I think a lot of pop music especially nowadays there's a there's a lot of demand for a perfect note it in every note perfectly in every drum beat must be raw and I like his it's an expression of his emotions and his you know his soul really and I have a real respect for that thank you. RINGBACK To people to the full. Movie. Music Pycroft in the studios of b.b.c. Radio show for more or less continuously you might have heard him. You can do all the things you shuffle over the weekend you must Committee as well and she is Yep she's coming tomorrow night proud of you oh she's very proud and she's been very supportive over the years we specially with a lot of the crazy ideas I've had for you know trying to make a career in music but have you made much money and. You know making ends meet. Millionaire by any stretch of the imagination I was told by a few people around me when I was growing up that you know he should have a better job he should yeah exactly grow ever but my mom and my dad both just kept you know kept supporting me in and allowed me to go on this crazy adventure that I'm still doing too good. To specially Sheffield City Hall this weekend with the kaleidoscope orchestra which is what Steve and I have been talking about and if you've missed it while you've missed it if you wanted one of our questions about the difficulties times in your life and you said it was the past 18 months yeah what's happened to. So last May We me and my flatmate were broken into in the middle the night in Manchester woken up by 3 guys and I was assaulted. They didn't steal a lot of things but obviously it was quite a traumatic experience in the middle of a not from nowhere just just straight through the kitchen window. Well because it we are so. I mean me and my friend you know me my flatmate support each other through it what do you do in that circumstance you kind of fight back or do you cower in a corner and you just have to swallow your pride and just let it happen I mean yeah I'm glad it was in the middle the night because you you can't do anything I was half asleep can't defend myself just got to I think if I was awake you know you worry what you might do in a situation but. You know we got through and then we you know we moved away from that place and. We were all over the place in Manchester city center now and you have to keep moving forward your kind of mental health and you felt about the world a little bit yeah I didn't trust people for a while. And being a musician I'm around people a lot and so I think a lot of venues and festivals I play there was a bit more caution when I'd be walking around you know that kind of the the the worst kind of invasion of princes and think of really. And then unfortunately a 2nd event at that time my dad was diagnosed with an illness and then passed away so those 2 events. Yeah they were very significant. In my life what's helped you in the significant time. I've got the support of music which I find has been with me my whole life it's sort of the thing that I suppose I trust the most I I don't fall back on it because it's a big part of my life but it is there and it keeps me going physically you know the gigs are in the diary I go and do and I was actually on a gig about to go on stage when I got a phone call to tell me and it did. And it was it was my sister's husband who rang me and in that situation I had this very strong feeling that if you know he would have been even if said Going to the gig and we'll deal with this later and so I've carried on with that I've got you know the love and support of Caitlin and my sister and my mum's incredibly strong as well so yeah you just do what you have to do is similar to the breaking you've just got to use the resources and the love around you to just carry on you think you'll use it to alter the kind of music you do the composing you do the music you make the film which evolved and yeah I'll tell you that way absolutely yeah I can feel it's already changing my. Not my passions with music I mean to the styles of music that I'm writing because I write as well. They're changing slightly but I think they're becoming more grown up or something they say that I mean I'm their worst critic of my own still I mean I wouldn't if you've been insulted by the idea of becoming grown up. I mean I suppose it's maturity isn't it these these events in your life. Helped to mature you as an adult and with something like music they just deepened the emotion in side the the music and your expression of the music to the. It's b.b.c. Radio Sheffield Steve Pycroft good look at the City Hall in Sheffield What do you want to do with the next 30 years of your life. I want to keep being a musician because it's what I love doing I want to get married and have a family do you sort of middle class and middle. Yeah absolutely carried Kerry under the my last days and. Then your life you'll never forget you say it was performing at Glastonbury with jazz brass band that most would have it didn't rain all that year when you were there now I did and that was 2013 and we played on the stage it is one of the one of big ones and it was just crazy I mean you think that the best experiences are going to be the ones where you're full of energy and joy and happiness but there was that but there was also the you know there's 12000 people it was a real kind of reassuring event that made me think this is one of the it was 12000 people of your yeah yeah I think I think most of them we won them over Yeah I think 100000 people this afternoon would have done so you know that's true actually yeah this weekend it's going to be I think you know our audience rather than us but you'll get some as well so absolutely right on the radio piece of good show this weekend as you've been on the Radio City thanks ever so much for thanks for having me thank you Steve Parker of b.b.c. Radio show Good heavens 5 to 3 nearly 0 and I'm looking forward to. These at least not in the pits. The Friday 50 today. You know. We've had. On the way to yesterday. Left. And took over the.
