Radio Sheffield was 9 McCaskill I'm catching it Howie in a little while we will talk dogs Ok because the Labrador has been knocked off its top spot as the nation's favorite dog we shall be discussing not I will ask you what your favorite dog is german shepherd but 1st it is day 2 of the r.h.s. Chatsworth Flower Show and despite the weather it seems to have been a better than yesterday but it's still not being perfect Monday's press day was rained off yesterday we had complaints about the keys into the car park and today people have been telling us about more queuing to get into the shade the B.B.C.'s Alan cliff it is on the b.b.c. Chats with Frist now Alan. Hi there can I just say Greyhound is my favorite dog. Looking at a scene that despite all the news reports there have been over the last few days that defies all of that because chats with houses by the glorious sunlight as I speak now and sky that is a mix of fluffy white clouds or nothing. And it been like this since the beginning of the week will be that we're celebrating one of the biggest success stories in the r.h.s. Is history as it is implied that there have been some problems over the last few days just to give you a sense of how it's been today and I spent all day at the show having a look around meeting various people seeing the different displays that are here it is slightly wet underfoot but the metal walkways that they've laid all around the site are keeping people moving quite easily there's no danger of sinking into the mud they marquees generally dry inside and really as I say today's weather's not been too bad there was a drizzle I'd call it quite persistent drizzle earlier on but that's as I say has cleared away all the time there's a sense of the big black car might come over and deposit its contents upon us at the moment there were few 1000 people making their way out of the site over one of the pedestrian bridges as they make their way back to their coaches to go off around 4000 people who have come here by coach today out of a total of $90000.00 people who had tickets for the show today it is a lot of people but you'll be aware that chats with he's used to hosting big events so questions do remain as to why there have been some problems within and outside the site over the last few days so take a step inside the b.b.c. Bus and get out of the way of the people queuing to go home and say hello to Nick Mattingly now Nick is the show's director for the r.h.s. Nick Good afternoon to you. And to just talk about how challenging it's been for you this 1st time you've done the show Chatsworth. Things didn't go right in the 1st couple of days half how come you got caught out. We've planned for the show for over 2 years and actually we've taken some of the learnings from Chatsworth and the country fair in the bigger shows that they haven't actually applied it to the event I think as you know has been reported as the weather conditions over so your weekend lead up was the beginning of the week were rather extreme the high winds very high indeed and actually we closed the show and activated the showground on Tuesday during our press event because the winds were very high but also the amount of rainfall that we had we've had over $100.00 millimeters of rain on the sites which is left rather boggy which also then had an impact on our car so would you say that the problems on the roads outside of the sites particularly yesterday were down to the wet conditions it was a combination I we being extremely cautious by parking people on the sites we didn't want to tear up the grounds but also we want to return it back to its former condition at the end of the event but we also need to consider the the other days of the show there were other factors in which we've identified during the course of the last 24 hours which we're pushing right we've actually brought in additional trackway we've brought in additional stewards we've laid on more shuttle buses and more frequency of a shuttle buses so we've reviewed all of the plans we're working with the highways and actually really grateful to chance with and their staff for really coming to the rescue with us as well and employing some of the loans that they know from the time the country fares well it is if things got on now that the sun is actually making it very warm outside and we're talking about the terrible weather that's caused problems for the show obviously have no legislation about the weather but in terms of the organization are you sure you will not have this problem again this week even if it turns wet again. And as an event organizer we really go out of a way to try to make sure that we do the best that we can all of the time so the mistakes that happen we will learn from but it's not intended we don't intend for people to have a bad experience so we hope those that have made the show and now enjoying bright sunshine it's bizarre that we've had. I've gone from winter to summer in the space of 12 hours but I've We do hope that those people that do get here have enjoyed it is a very special place and a very special show for us those who were trying to get here in giving his yesterday obviously frustrated some didn't make it but there's another group of people who are perhaps waiting to hear something from the r.h.s. And those are the people who live in this area who found that they couldn't get anywhere yesterday because the roads were so jammed up. I hope through today actually people can see the procedures that are in place of work and actually yesterday it was extreme and we apologize for that and apologize for any inconvenience caused to local residents Mattingly shows director for the r.h.s. Thank you very much indeed and he outs for us at Chatsworth in state what will be lonely presenting his Saturday show from Chatsworth providing he get I'm sure he will be here from 10 on Saturday. Greg How's it looking I can definitely busy again today with traffic heading back from a chance with already on no chance with road going into Chesterfield traffic senses and also building up on the other way as well in Chesterfield around to Sheffield in the city center open of a street looking very busy along with another thought road and queue building up now on Sheffield parkway going towards the I want a junction 33 cliff not about that on they make faces coping well nothing serious on the m one r.d.m. 18 or on the a one m. For the time being if you can dataset all the welcome to call in on the line on a double 14561212 this morning 15 minutes. Cut. Cut the c. Frames on b.b.c. Radio Sheffield 18 minutes past 4 on cat sitting in for how big news because the Labrador has been the most popular dog in the u.k. For almost 30 years but according to the kennel club by the end of next year could well be taken by the French bulldog. Dogs with flat faced features have become more popular in recent years with us washed by his and wrinkled No he's. Not just bulldog pugs and she sees old flame increasingly fashionable but that say many of these animals with a painful and strict deformities and that's what the team would see the vet in Sheffield afternoon team does this chime with what you will seeing at your practice I can. Say sir I mean I think it's not new fashion in dogs like Believe it or not it does happen you sort of you know for a few years you see some breeds coming for you and then they go away again and they come back I mean you know it's a long time till necessity and Doberman puppy they were really popular a lot ago but yes certainly the the flat faced dog will break he says Alex the posh word for basically the the 4 faced versions of very very popular in a minute and you know is a profession I think it's it does give us some concerns because these dogs are lovely little dogs absolutely fantastic little dogs but you never not without some of the health concerns and it is just weighing a lot of really and then talk about these health concerns I actually have friends with a pug and he has been to the vets so many times he's had loads of very very costly operations and they've only had them in a short amount of time and and that's not rare is it with these don't know is that I mean you got where you got both sides of it I mean clearly absolute priority is animal welfare but also it's when people take these dogs on mistaking sometimes thinking the more you pay for your puppy the healthier it's going to be in the void Very do usually the opposite you know the more you pay for the design the breed of them the more you end up having to spend all the mother for insurance premiums or actual cost because they do have quite a lot of problems and it's a big world for concern and it's getting the right balance clearly this I mean a lovely breeze we don't see the end of the breed that's far from me you know we should embrace all the different shapes and saw. As they come in but sometimes the more focused breathing gets them wall concentrate these problems get and you know the flatter the face gets and really the problem lies in the flatter the face gets everything gets squished up you get the same amount the next to me the 15 same amount of news space and dental space and everything but there's less space to fit it in and that ultimately will all these problems come from so if if people I people do you like these these braids what should they be looking for when they actually go in and she's probably. A puppy or a dog so I think the 1st thing you know you used a good responsible breeders who can show you their bloodlines you can show you over the past 5 generations where these dogs come from so if we make sure that Kennel Club registered then that means there is an authority looking Elvie's guys there are regulations you Kennel Club register you have to abide by certain Well 1st down as well so you can have 2 misses their inspections for example West takes you to a bulldog's of a lot of their eons make sure that breeder is in some ways taking the right steps because suddenly you know somebody might decide to do this because they can make some money out of it because they can sell these puppies an awful lot to do the research make sure we can visit v. Ideally mom and dad and he's but 60 to say the flatness of the face of the conceived you know the original parents maybe some pups they've already had and to see the conformation because even the breeds there are good examples of bad examples and try not to get this it is one of the jaws which don't meet up playing under shot jaws of a lower jaw longer than the upper jaw and all this sort of thing is this just a bit cruel to live with breeding animals actually calm breeze I mean well why well that is ultimately it isn't there but it's nothing new human ultimately all dog breeds have been designed boy humans for our own purpose I mean the break is a fall exhibit at the flat faced ones have a. Particularly I guess focus because they are particularly bad you know previously the Labrador I loved all the lovely dogs sometimes the dogs look the best of Labrador but I do have the hip problems still there Obo problem you know breed is about that particular problems so it's all a victim I do breed to sarge it's just making sure we're getting the right balance here but I would really go without you go for among groups you know they are the hardest they are the one of the least health concerns least welfare concerns some people would argue why pay for figure sums for a puppy who go to 20 rescue centers and you know invest money in the charity to help out those who need a home service say because you know we want to victimize the breed I guess Tim would Thanks ever so much for talking to me this afternoon that is vet Tim Woods let's now look at his new top 10 popular dogs the B.B.C.'s Claire Marshall has this lady introduced her French bulldog Asia and this adorable video beyond these French bulldog Pam has become an Internet celebrity and have fallen in love with the beckons half or so Holly Willoughby according to the kennel club by the end of next year the little French bulldog The so-called friend she could well knock the Labrador off the top spot and become the most popular dog breeds in the country Dr David Sargon is a geneticist at the Cambridge University vetted we school his team has just carried out research into breathing problems in pugs French bulldogs and full dogs half the animals they tested had a clinically recognisable condition. By contrast in a sustained way they may even have problems at rest and they can have problems such as sleep apnea street inability to oxygenate their lot when they're asleep Gudrun Ravitz is president of the British vet recess ca Sion all of these dogs with this very squashed face on the squash cats as well will have to some degree these problems. But actually the snoring that people find quite cute can be a sign that these dogs are suffering and able to breathe in a normal way. Thank God it's chicken breast and broccoli turmeric paste Wendy spends hours preparing special meals for her pugs there are so many ending up in rescuing Now why do you think because they're so expensive to run it's like running a Ferrari insurance in the doctor's saga and has been looking at how to eradicate what can be crippling health issues one way to do that would be to stop breeding these particular breed or to out cross them without uproot but that would remove the distinctive features which are so popular with the public and so what we would like to do is to improve them by producing a genetic test which will allow us to identify those dogs which are not proving well from those dogs which breeds very well the advantage of a d.n.a. Test is that we can identify the likelihood of development of the condition and the Pops demand is growing so quickly that the aura speciate is warning that unscrupulous breeders are entering this market happy to produce puppies to feed the fashion. Clam Marshall No that was a claim also that was a dog snuffling but that was that report was from Claire Marshall climb Marshall about this new popularity in the squash faced dogs the French bulldog and the pub pug very popular dogs indeed the French bulldog likely to knock the Labrador of the top spot and British Britain's favorite dog my question to you this afternoon what is your favorite breed of dog and why mine the German shepherd I like a dog with a snout I'm struggling to understand why and look if you're if you. Of course face dog and you listening out there is nothing personal but I just don't get it I don't get why dogs without now uses all particularly popular but they all but you might be a fan of the pug and you want to tell me why they are the best dog ever spoke to a. B.b.c. Reporter ls of the great how to do like a greyhound their very very sort of every friendly I find another way when you're in the parking and comes up to you and it's as if it often nestled its little head next year lag so sweet what is the best breed of dog is it a Labrador is it the French bulldog maybe is it a shit say she like a German shepherd may or do you like among girl team with that team would saying actually in terms of health mongrels rain say pray may last longer than pedigree dogs they live happy lives and they are certainly cheaper to run what is the best breed of dog let me know 13 double 3 is the number you need if you sending me a text or you can give us a call to you 79 double 6 double 9 and if you do have a French bulldog or a pug or another squash face dog let me know why they are just so fabulous clearly lots of people agree with the clueless as usual 6 cryptic clues to 6 different Radio Sheffield. Radio Sheffield Rebecca Carey We're talking dogs here this afternoon I would like to know from you because apparently these dogs without notices are in what's your favorite dog breed and why this is actually quite hilarious because I don't have one because I'm actually lunatic to dogs so yes in fact I was once nearly sent to Crufts as a reporter and I have to say though that he might kill you know the risk assessment I know I know however we did go to a do the other day and there was a woman with the tiny stock in the world it was so cute it was a Chihuahua or crossed with a Jack Russell and it was. What did she call it. That she was it was. Something I don't know what things can go really wrong when you start to join method of let's not go there so let's not for the sake of both our careers I wrote States and have you know a favorite dog breeds. I think we had a border collie when I was a kid and I love that they grow we had a kind of cross breed dog as well it was a bit of both. Border collie and a kind of a big dog. At the moment got a Jack Russell is very sad that he's on he's on his last legs I'm afraid and I think it's going close to the end. Of the next week the week unfortunately I didn't expect this conversation to turn out like that let's just move on Rob States and has a nice cricket for you the Champions Trophy taking place at The Oval today India facing Sri Lanka India in a very good position after posing 321. For 6 from their 50 overs Sri Lanka now responding they got off to a decent start themselves 144 for one after 25 overs the needed another 178 runs from 25 overs with 9 wickets remaining supposed to be a very interesting finish at The Oval between India and Sri Lanka Yorkshire head coach Meanwhile Andrew Gale says tomorrow's opponents Somerset can't be taken lightly despite them lying 2nd bottom of the County Championship table and without a win so far this season any team in this division if you're not quite on it will walk all over you and you know some of 7 of the best starts after having a really successful year last year but you know if we go down there underestimate and then now you know it could really bias on to the football in the Chesterfield manager Gary Cole Well says goalkeeper Tommy Lee will be fit to start pre-season training the 31 year old didn't play in a single much last season after suffering a serious shoulder injury Caldwell says it'll be great to have Lee back for kowtowing. Mr Chairman on baby say Radio Sheffield I am cats and I'm asking you for the best dog breed out there the word on the street is that don't go without snouts all definitely in the French bulldog could easily overtake the Labrador as Britain's favorite dog breed but I just want to know what your favorite dog breed is all you are a fan of the French bulldog all the Pug the ones that have scorched faces do you like a big job I'm in for example we heard from a vet Tim would the daemons used to be in fashion and they've definitely gone out of fashion but a new a very nice stable and he was lovely and so is that your favorite breed and why why is your favorite breed the favorite war they say brilliant Christian hands with says I've had a genuine Scot say and I now have a Kerry Blue Terrier both would be very welcome but billet sure and to prison under oath yes I remember going to a Scottie dog convention and a founder that's not particularly friendly compared to other dogs maybe that was just made that is didn't like May on that particular day and Jane from just failed says I've never been a dog person a much better cats but if a days have a dog a gay for. And a westy or a Scot say a friend has a coke and she is just adorable what we all like a. Little and. Yet when we play the western music it means it is time for Magnificent 7. Nice little game just for fun I will be down to the 7th loan of a popular track and all you have today was tell me launch track it is from so so very simple sometimes a certain lines are in multiple tracks needs going to be there mine were mine to eat and make sure you got the one that was in my head and not another I think this one is the 7th track of well I'm sure I'm going to say it because I probably would wrong but I think if you get this there's only really one track that is from although it's not easy got haven't the foggiest if someone read this out to me I wouldn't have any idea but you'll be better than I am I'm sure that is the line I'm sure you'll agree. I'm sure you will agree. One more time on sure you will agree it is the 7th line on a popular track but want aids that track to play alone he can text 813 double traced to the word Sheffield he can even give us a call to 79 double 6 double on one last time that line I'm sure you'll agree the 7th line of a popular track and I will play it's before 5 but we need to turn our attentions to the weather Mr Paul Hudson is with us hello Paul Good afternoon how you are more Only I'm feeling better because I'm looking out the window and it doesn't look hideous. Yes Does that mean does that mean summer is on its way. Not in the short term I mean there are some heavy showers around at the moment but it is looking very very promising Next we think that once we get a weather system out of the way on Saturday which will bring quite a bit of rain for a time particularly Saturday morning we're going to get a lot of a big rise in pressure and next week all the models you know we get all the this model information from the American model the European model the u.k. Met Office model and the European model is the most consistent one and it is indicating some fantastic weather from middle of next week and I'm just looking at the chart for next weekend not this coming weekend next weekend and it showing a mid seventy's Fahrenheit sunny warm it looks fantastic it really looks as though it's going to settle down very nicely and at the same time because of the sets of it looks so they'll be some really high temperatures across the Mediterranean southern Spain into sort of Italy Greece temperatures in the shade you know for example across those part of southern Spain could be under degrees in the shade so some very high temperatures developing across the Mediterranean and it looks like Britain will be very nice indeed that's next week yeah i feel of trying to hoodwink is there because that is some on its way and you can if you pushed aside this weekend you didn't really mention it very much and you went straight ahead to next week and next weekend just give us a bit more detail on on this coming weekend how about when we have all the I mean this is a weather system coming in from the Atlantic which will bring some rain on Saturday and you know that rain will be you know quite heavy especially in sort of cross pool full Ward those sort of areas you know in Sheffield Chatsworth looks as though it's going to be fairly wet but the afternoon should fire up a little bit something certainly away from the Penguins it should brighten up a little bit but I think certainly if you got to pick a both days Sunday should be the best day of The Tonight Show. Be generally dry and bright. 20 degrees. Because that is when I'm going to the chaps with flowers. Exactly very nice indeed so I'm very very pleased with that thank you very much back in my good books. And he will be back with a full forecast after. Greg has. Supplanted busy traffic still around Chesterfield this evening busier than usual with traffic having bank of flower show today to chance for a chance with road inbound on the I 619 looking particularly heavy and slow now and also busy rather weigh the a 617 as well as he continue out to the $29.00 or so looking slow on the approach to the junction around Sheffield in the city center traffic is very busy on the street another thought road and quite slow on going towards the change and junction 33. Super tram services running again between day 10 and following the incident there but still some delays to services if you count data line on a double 142561212 there's more in 15 minutes. The be. The Drifters on b.b.c. Radio Sheffield coming up to 10 follies and generations of peoples have been discouraged by the teachers from using the hands when then in Mass but new research from Sheffield Hallam University Shay's even think is maybe a must. More important parts of mass learning than previously thought the research by Professor Tim j. Of Sheffield Hallam Sheffield Institute of Education and independent researcher Dr Julie batten Senate confirms what parents of long felt instinctively that the sort of thing that games children often play are all central to their education and I can talk to our team now Tim thank you as much for for being with us this afternoon just tell me a bit more about this research then Ok comes from previous for research that other people have done in our brains the brain is responsible for sensing and coordinating what's going on with our fingers is right next to the brain that's responsible for responding to number and thinking about number so lots of people think that fingers a really intimately tied tied up with how we come to understand number when we're growing up so how did you go about doing this research then confirming what you're seeing already thought that it was very important how did you conduct the research so we wanted to say 2 things really 1st of all how much I think a sense varies among children and how much it is related to their math learning but also if we could come up with an intervention series of training activities to improve children's finger sense would that help in math learning and when you say think a sense what you mean is that sort of the connection between that brain and their actual fingers so not everyone if you point a finger know every child will know to waggle that thing and you want them to yes realize this so we've got different levels of ability to sense what's going on with our fingers individually and move and coordinate our fingers so we found with young children children in the study were 6 and 7 years old and one of the tests we used was getting children to put their fingers in a shoe box where they couldn't see them right and touch their fingers sometimes one at a time and sometimes in sequence and see how good the children. Telling us which fingers had been touched and that was a really good measure of finger sense so say the children that weren't as good as knowing and knowing which which finger it being touched with a naughty did they struggle more with math was there a correlation that yeah yeah so there was a really really strong correlation between fingers sense and and we had a kind of measure of quantitative skills so children's ability to count and understand relationships between numbers so what what does this research allow you to do in the future in terms of children's learning so I think what it shows is is how closely finger sense is connected to children's math learning so the kinds of things we were doing were asking children to. Follow lines on the lines on pieces of paper with different fingers so they get used to doing things with different fingers we're asking them to hold up a particular numbers of fingers to copy a teacher just lots of different kinds of activities to. To develop that finger sense and we're putting that together with number games involving things like dice and dominoes because it's just about doing activities to help children make these connections between different kinds of number representation through their fingers and if you're a parent or if you know if you're a parent and you thinking well the sounds fabulous other things you could be doing how you we will additional learning and games and things like that yeah I think it will be highlights how important play at school I'm going home can be for children's math learning so it's I suppose any any kind of activity where the children have to sense and coordinate all of their fingers and there's things like musical instruments things like craft activities but also just number rhymes you know 12345 once I caught a fish alive and putting the fingers up we combined that with games involving different kinds of representation of numbers or anything involving dice dominoes things like playing snakes and ladders is really good for supporting. Children developing an understanding of number and presumably you hope that this research is going to inform teachers as well in education yeah hopefully our next step is to scale the research up a bit so we did this research in 5 classrooms $140.00 children all together but to really get into classrooms inside this could have an effect on a big scale which wants to do that next step of research to get a bit more but more evidence for what we think Professor. Well seems relatively obvious but. I didn't realize actually how kids. Chesterfield manager Gary Caldwell has told Radio Sheffield that goalkeeper Tommy Lee is said to Will to return to pre-season training as a missing the whole of last season with a serious shoulder injury in rugby union Wales captain Allan when James will captain the British and Irish Lions for Saturday's game against the count to be crusaders Jonathan Davis Connemara George North and Sean O'Brien will get their 1st starts of the tour against a side that will feature 8 All Blacks in Christchurch b.b.c. Radio Sheffield it's 5 minutes past 5. And has the weather Yes Well there's a number of really quite heavy showers showing up on the radar picture there's a clump just to the the west of Sheffield then another line coming through the north midlands through Darvish want to chill those showers could be on the funny side so some sunshine yes one or 2 Thunder downpours then overnights it looks mostly dry with clear spells of over can't rule out one or 2 showers coming back on to the lowest temperatures around 10 degrees but some more than it's brights with sunshine there's a risk of one or 2 showers but fairly fleeting affairs and indeed those showers will tend to die away later temperatures 18 or 19 degrees that we can then if you Chief you go today you can choose from Sunday is the best dry and bright is more rain to come on Saturday and summer may well return next week that's something to a night stands in Sheffield the tea women who are believed to be on separate nights out both became ill in the Glossop red area I can speak now to acting chief inspector she kill Ahmed thank you for being with us this afternoon can you explain to me what happened to these women yes good evening. During the early hours of Wednesday morning the 2 females were both out separately on a night out and I'm completely unconnected one female was taken ill at home following the night out and an ambulance was called and she was taken to the northern General Hospital where she remains in critical but stable condition the other female the 22 year old female was taken ill at the venue itself and an ambulance and paramedics were called to the venue and she was transported. To northern General Hospital from there unfortunately she has passed away and our thoughts are very much with the family and friends of the that student and of course to the student and we hope she makes a full recovery as has the surviving woman been able to speak he she is she in a state to be and speak the place yet no not the investigation is very much ongoing at the moment but we've not been in a position to speak to that individual you know and you're saying these women didn't know each other at all that's my understanding yes they completely connected to each other do we know yet where they got the jokes from. That's part of an ongoing investigation we have got a team of detectives working on the case and I wouldn't wish to comment on any aspect of the investigation of course not a just some place forces are allowing drug testing a festival this summer I wonder if you think that it might be time to allow drug testing at nightclubs. Well my view is taken any drugs is an absolute lottery American pop the drugs can vary dramatically there's no certainty as to what any pill or powder contains I would urge everybody to avoid any contact with any drugs and you know do you know if the drugs that these 2 ladies that these 2 women took were the same because I'm wondering if you want to give out a message to to any young people here are going to be going out tonight across the weekends to avoid the these particular drugs. Well we're still awaiting any forensic tests on the trucks what I can say that would in different forms one was in a pill form while fuel that was in a powder form that's not to say it wasn't crushed but certainly the public safety message I would always give out in cases such as this is firstly I would advise people to keep a wide berth 20 jokes such as this. There's no guarantees with what people are taking and if they do have any adverse reactions I would recommend that they seek medical attention immediately acting chief inspector she kill thank you as much for talking to me they said they say evening that wall's Yes chief acting Chief Inspector Shaquille It is 13 minutes past 5 on b.b.c. Radio Sheffield. With the. Way. That the folks with the. Trombone with the fact. That the 2. With the. 6 with the Meet the. Radio Sheffield. This is Greg how the rays look in Greg Fall on the motorways caught everything is looking fine still very busy Chesterfield yes chance with road the inbound side on the a 6 while 9 looking slow with traffic heading back from the flower show to chance for a house and it's also slow on the a 617 as you go out towards the am one and June 29 need to Chesterfield some heavy traffic as well in Barnsley on west way looking very busy at the town and roundabout the safe thing and also busy in Sheffield on the pattern of a street as well as another thought brought more in 15 minutes. Past 5 with the news headlines it's Rebecca Karaite a 22 year old woman has died after taking drugs on a night out in Sheffield another woman is in a serious condition after taking the drug on a separate night out place of trying to find a man who sexually assaulted a 17 year old girl in a Roth room Park on Saturday night and the former f.b.i. Director James Comey is accused Donald Trump's administration of defaming him and the f.b.i. By telling what he called lollies plain and simple he was sacked by Mr Trump last. It was giving evidence to the Senate Intelligence Committee the brightening up a little later with some dry and play spells tonight temperatures overnight dropping down to 10 Celsius. Just. In the. Sun to a. Degree. I still. Say. This. Is no use to. You. Thinking. Steps story. It's 20 past 5 on cats in the house and a British transport police officer who was seriously wounded trying to confront the London Bridge attack with the backs. John says he's so sorry he couldn't be more in a statement the officer he wants to remain anonymous so he wanted to let the victim's family know I did everything I could Chief Constable Paul Crowther has visited him in hospital where he remains in a serious condition it's clear I haven't talked to him about what happened on the night. That he did some extraordinary things and run into danger to to help people who needed immediate help and then found himself truly fighting with the with the terrorists is just an outstanding story and many of my service on my hair stand up on the back of my neck to hear it. Is just astonishing what he did Meanwhile the police investigation into Saturday's attack continues in total 17 people have been arrested 5 remain in custody last night officers arrested 3 men in East London this eyewitness described seeing large numbers of armed place involved so about 5 or 6 knowledge through the window but then of the door and looked down there was about 10 on the officers outside and. When you say they're all wearing balaclavas they've got quite large weapons in other not your sort of. Your army or she saw of guns c.c.t.v. Footage has emerged showing the 3 attackers together loving in joking as not a gym in East London 5 days before the atrocity video has also come out showing the moment police gunned down the perpetrators Gary Edwards is a paramedic he was one of the of the 1st on the scene as the attack unfolded he says he was confronted by people screaming for help from our safety and for help I was in the middle of an attack active gunfire going on now so obviously on all. My work protect myself lots of members of the public running towards me for help but I cannot to know what their intentions were so I was sort of quite vigilant looking at their hands making sure no one had any weapons on them to cause harm to myself more than to. 100 British Muslim leaders have now said they will refuse to lead the funeral press for the nuns in a Manchester attack as the prayer which seeks forgiveness for the dead is traditionally said inside the mosque as part of the funeral rites many have signed a statement saying the terrorists indefensible actions were completely at odds with the teaching of Islam Dr Isom Yousef is an Islamic scholar who helped draft the statement he hopes it will send a powerful message it's very rare for people to stand up and say for a mom to stand up and say that we're not going to perform the funeral pressure this person so really the psychological effect on the Muslim mind too to know that well actually if you commit you know atrocities like this we are going to refuse to perform a funeral press it's quite a powerful 108 people killed on Saturday night have now been identified 29 people injured in the attack remain in hospital 10 of them in a critical condition it is 23 minutes past 5 on b.b.c. Radio Sheffield and the kids to a silly thing to think through so I truly thank you from traffic to see so many new run somebody is going to see the scene radiation fails and who needs a will because the humble tea bag has been chosen by the British public as one of the most important inventions of all time and this heritage curators across the country have been searching through the charities a vast collection. Of historic artifacts to identify the most ingenious objects in its cast the same down there at the British public what were the top 10 Inventions of all time let's talk to Caroline car with collections curator for English heritage he works at Dong craft as Broad's with whole Caroline thanks for being with me this evening so talk us through the invention that you found at the whole Well brother has. A remarkable collection of furnishings and objects where hard but it's actually to choose the most ingenious but. Particularly stood out for me One is we have a most remarkable Edwardian exercise horse who has a very lifelike face and he's called Haydock horse from the he was painted in 1912 . Visitors always really enjoy seeing him because he's he's quite unusual So that's something you perhaps don't expect to see the country have an exercise holes like an exercise bike Well yes it's a bit more of a cross between a sort of pommel horse and an exercise chair like. You sometimes see exercise chairs you know from the 18th century should look more like an arm chair with sort of springs and then you know the pommel horse that people use in the gyms and so on but this one has a sort of has a horse is head of all its i would you would you bounce on top of it yeah you sat on top of it and could bounce up and then because the 1st thing about it was if it had springs inside it yeah and with the with very realistic head which is rather like rocking horse rocking horse's head and it had a bridle. And you could hold on to the reins so you might imagine you were riding a horse really annoyed 3rd I love it yeah well you could do that in that when it was raining you could ride your horse inside perfect water health. Well we've got all sorts of different things but one of the other things that. The mind also was that but so has a remarkable Victorian kitchen but in the at the about the turn of the 19th into the 20th century. A lot of its equipment was updated and in particular the family bought quite a lot of equipment from the amazing Mrs Agnes marsh or who was an entrepreneurial woman who both wrote cookery books and sold kitchen equipment and did demonstrations and all sorts of things and quite a lot of her equipment found its way into the broader kitchen including an amazing ice cream maker. The family could have very smart ice cream extremely quickly and well and how did that work I mean the ice cream makers nowadays Yeah well they quite well the big so I think these of Kate I mean how did the Victorian one well very similar to a modern one effectively it was a matter of packing ice around a sort of aluminum in a sort of wooden barrel with a sort of aluminum center where you put your cream and other ingredients you were going to have and then it had a you put a lid on it how to handle it you turned at the top and they I think the reason that Mrs Marshall was a able to pay her for making ice cream very quickly was that. The There was more it was so shallow container that held the ingredient or there was more contact with the ice so it turned into ice cream more quickly. So yes a large child has parties you know that must have been very useful for the cooks of the house only one more I learned so these are the only ingenious objects you found birds with yes these lists then the tea bags coming out on top as the at the best invention and well that's sort of 2nd part of the survey we've been doing the 1st thing we did was to look at ingenious objects all. Through our collections of different rites all over the country so really ranging from Roman thing to evil archaeology architectural thing and coming right up to the Victorian and it wouldn't think you see it but with all but then after that with them are the public what they felt were the most ingenious objects and so that's where the art of that they came into things like ranging from the wheel to the tea bag you're right so with a number of different things in between including the Internet. So that survey where people can focus on those is still open on our Web site on the English Heritage website so people can still vote I think so the tea bag hasn't come out on topic I think it has at the moment that people can still vote so that the game could change penicillin could come out on top of the wheel or what have you yeah but still if you're still a fan of the tea bag you can. Carry on lovely to speak so you can see a picture of all these wonderful things on our English Irish website including our ice cream maker marvelous for you come a visit brought for even better Caroline thank you very much that's Caroline car with broads worth hole and as you said you could vote for your favorite invention of all time but I think that you can't be it can you. Greg how the raid I can't plenty of heavy traffic on the chance for trade going on to mark a maiden into the field with traffic heading back from a day flower show to chance for House also looking very slow on the 617 going out towards the m one and junction $29.00 a Chesterfield as well busier than usual heavy traffic on the other way in Chesterfield also around Sheffield in the city center traffic on the move the usual busy sponsor really heavy on the street and never thought road and quite slow on Sheffield parkway going towards the m one in change and take June. 33 clear now just looking forward to Saturday Chesterfield and North Darbyshire host stage of the women's tour cycle race again with lots of road closures around the town so for more details to visit b.b.c. The man behind the world's 1st museum of failure is a half American half Icelandic psychologist called Samuel West who lives in Helsingborg and advises companies on how to be more innovative and creative to see a lot of exhibits here about 17 times 17 different products and services and we've got everything from failed food innovation to the do you recognize that you know that's Google Glass is the bad failure because they didn't take privacy issues seriously and thinking this was. Another food innovation they're going to go around as well Donald's McDonald's $300000000.00 They invested in a luxury burger that didn't work out. And as if to prove his point that companies are not willing to be open about failure not one of those he asked to donate failed products to the museum even responded to his request but he is convinced his museum is part of a why did global movement to change thinking about failure and the news on to something when his teenage daughter showed interest I caught her a couple weeks ago stealing these little stickers that we have here at the museum and I asked why are you taking these stickers to stick with Museum of failure on it and she explained that all her friends everybody at her high school they identify with this failure and that they think it's cool so they want the stickers on their phones and on their computers and then it dawned on me and they if anybody in that generation are tired of this perfect image if say of facade of perfection and they're looking for something more nuanced. Not something more real Coming into Chester failed on chance with road on the a 69 very slow traffic heading on to Markham road as well in towards the town lots of traffic heading back from the flower show chance for the House of course and it's curing on the 617 as well as towards the $1.29 chance that failed not so bad on the looking Ok on the m one itself and their problems on the 18 still around in Sheffield in the city center this evening very heavy on the upper hand of a street.
