Pedia poverty by bringing in legislation to ensure sanitary products are provided free to those who need them and the budget carrier Ryanair is urging airports to do more to clamp down on excess drinking that's it for news Dr Have a good evening the biggest. Exclusive interview with. B.b.c. Radio Scotland welcome to sports and with me Kenny McIntyre joined this evening by Ian McCall Kris Commons and Graham spirit if you want your seat tonight please get in touch take those 8 or 95 on Twitter at b.b.c. Sports owned or treat me b.b.c. Kelly might be easier the details to use if you've got a question for the performance director Malcolm a county who will join us our own 7 o'clock if you're a kid hoping to get on in the game appear in a court this is your chance to put a question to Mulki But let's kick off tonight with a big talking point from the weekend a story that's developed throughout the day we've been joined by reporter Alastair la meant. Relation and listen to the Rangers hopes game the weekend cares much is always going to produce flash points given recent bad blood between the 2 teams and the additional ingredient of the former Celtic player and manager Neil Lennon but in the opposition that Iraq sorts on there's no shortage of control over see new incident has attracted more headlines or cause more reaction as opposed to mill Lennon's response to his her bare namesake 1st half equaliser anyone who hasn't seen the footage can watch it at the b.b.c. Sport website Well yes of the Rangers main supporters group Club 872 issued a statement in relation to the Lennon's behavior during the game this is Police Scotland categorize this much as high risk Milena knew that and he knew your responsibility to act in an appropriate manner we hope Police Scotland will speak directly to Mr Lennon over the coming days and at the very least give him a warning over his future conduct I Brooks Well clue. That confront today they were looking into complaints over Neil in his behavior on Saturday but there's a twist in relation to b.b.c. Scones inquiries about lane and police told as they were and I'm quoting here We are all of a friend 7 threatening comments that have been posted on social media concerning a named individual and inquiries are currently ongoing and connection with us so pretty unsavory stuff following that much earlier I spoke to Alex methods the chairman of the Scottish League Managers' Association and I asked him where the responsibility only in terms of managers reacting to abuse from the stands I think of responsibility of Earth and the job as a manager overstrain also think that the public has to play a part in this as well if they had been a b. Positive tames to be over and old and Bob Lang mentioned abuse towards individuals then what understand sometimes that people are only human and they may respond in a way that they may not be happy with right that was Alex Smith that any war from a safety if they do decide to take action how quickly did they usually issue notices off complaint it was nothing from the safety on this today. It is worth points again alleged gestures don't fall into that what they actually called the fast track criteria and therefore it wouldn't necessarily be a priority wouldn't necessarily have expected something to be also the compliance officer route tough to deem lane and to be guilty of what they call excessive misconduct if he was to pursue this mater there was a change a in the regulations in the laws they are just a season ago just finally or from memory perhaps that the Habs manager does have a too much suspended by on high end over I'm after is clutch last season with the more to manage him the Ok thanks to a reporter llama. The latest on the story game a story that's dominated the headlines across the weekend and into to d. What are your thoughts on the story do you believe Neil Lennon sure that any responsibility was it pure instinct emotion in terms of his reactions or in his possession and given the occasion the atmosphere should have acted with more sense where do you stand on this I think Neil Lennon does beer a certain amount of responsibility I think a manager in that situation has to show public responsibility I think a football manager in that situation has to show public restraint. And I think Neil then came up short on both these counts but and it's a big but he's been abused in that arena for years abused constantly much of it sectarian abuse I Brock's he's had other stadiums what it says Game him to do people want to take it lying down because he won't it's not in his nature to take that abuse lying down so I think he does have to shore restraint and I think you cannot have managers gesturing to fans that my perspective for this is the abuse Neil Lennon has taken i Books over the years has been absolutely venomous and when his team went there and gave Rangers a bit of a doing. And the fans were showing him with abuse and I've seen Rangers fans on Twitter saying I was abusing him for 90 minutes he's not going to take it lying down it's not in his nature. And as much as I think he feels to Shaw the correct restraint there's something about it there's a bit of guts about Neil Lennon that I actually admire Well you both know all you learn and we'll you McCall and Kris Commons do you have sympathy for them most people would react in the same we given the provocation or would have expected better from our manager looking at the video footage I don't see that it's done a great deal wrong and it was provoked a lot of fans in the in the in our box but I think it comes with the territory there's no question he could have simmered it down a little bit but let's not forget what you know where he's been for the last couple of years and going back to Iraq and it is the abuse it gets every single day during the day. Do you think he was justified in reacting in the way that he did you think it was a dangerous reaction I don't know what the Iraq people expect him to do what sit in the dugout. And between his legs just oh yeah that's must bring will move on to next week and then you know what next week I'll celebrate mark up I understand the little bit of anger book Listen if you're going to if you're willing to give that much abuse then you've got to take some saw back in that respect and I don't think you've been abusive I don't think he's done anything. That should warrant this sort of talk in a book I think it shows you the character this is a winner he wants to go in there Mecca statement and I just think that the people there watching the game was just very very upset that it was Neil Lennon and if it was Jose Marino sprinting down the touchline or Alex Ferguson Brian Kidd on the knees on the on the perch on the pitch. I don't think he's done anything wrong in the respect of showing them disrespect for union Ok that's not all nonsense the whole thing is utter nonsense. I think one of the main things Israel can is Neil Lennon. First and foremost does not need our sympathy or empathy or enough and he's absolutely fine I would imagine but I've been there working broadcast and I've been the player manager and you know some of the things they get said it. You wouldn't believe them is heady a spot and the statement the genuinely talk one statement read today from Tommy it is some sort of funny Well I don't know that a major shareholder I don't know just my heart I don't really care and it was just ridiculous what point you know that statement by the fans that it was amazing the number of Rangers fans that cringed at it yeah after your injury of course it was know what ability from Rangers and then just a huge number in just once came out and publicly cringed at this Feinstein said and said look get all over this we're not giving up dogs abuse he gave as a gesture over others but I mean just fans that lampooned like it's important to know that this isn't an alum McCoist or atomic bombs who cross the divide who both sets of funds you know once it loved them but they didn't like them but they accepted them and they knew it was new and not wait he's universally hated by the Rangers fans I think I was to do with over who successfully was and I think because a tailor made for you put it was his rate here and he was always snarling and I just think to give those radio to him I just think what about what about the give up you gesture Well I just watched it on Steele's actual way I was waiting for 20 minutes I'm sure there are dozens there's something very similar when he scored for on his debut against Motherwell you know like boom boom get it yeah get it in yeah they go through their own funds but that's something that you know you have to find I don't. Look at me on what they did a good job the irony of this was and I don't of these words were reproduced in print on Saturday in Saturday's papers but in Fraidy. I was one of a number of people who went to see Neil Lennon in blue and he spoke about the atmosphere i Books and he spoke about the mock indignation of fans No I shouldn't use the chord tone of the logos that he spoke about going into that arena and you get this constant abuse there's dogs abuse very often the sectarian abuse and and if you respond there's us Mark indignation they go running to authorities to me 24 hours later that's exactly what happened that's exactly you know how the fans reacted when he gave this arm gesture which I repeat I don't think a manager should be doing that I don't think you'll enjoy be doing it I don't think any manager should be doing it we cannot have we can we can go. Managers and coaches gesturing to supporters are like that you know it doesn't it doesn't help we can week a dozen but after that event there's a very particular the best in that point is Kenny he's detested in that stadium he's hated in that stadium he's been abused in that stadium he's had 16 abuse nice to him and he's not going to stand for it that's his position I think if you're going to lie no no it's important I think simple and I would imagine 90 percent of the abuse would have been normal food bowl abuse that happened but it's a temper saying that goes over the score that's really you know children you know this experience say the things that's when it gets absolutely 100 I mean I saw the gesture of goodness me don't you have I mean it was it was out for me it was absolute enough and I would just add Kenny I was in our society and I don't know whether it was sick to an abuse or not it might not be but I but I know from the the testimony of Rangers fans many of them were saying The enjoyed abusing them and Neil Lennon actually said I can take it absolutely you take it you know it's fine what I vote what you are seeing that it's a different level completely what's in. It Have you ever been in the receiving end of something like that how would you react how do you deal with abuse that you get I don't want to serve you also a positive way and use it to channel into your energy I think when you have a abuse you're trying to an Internet negative a positive thing and use it in in your benefit and it is like this or you know that's a sort of thing that you then channel into right I'll show you I'll show you you watch this now unless you're a character where you're going to crumble and I'm afraid salient Milan is not a character that's just going to sit there and take it is just it's not in his nature is a winner you know a passion a passionate manager and he's seen as probably a team go in there as underdogs and not only playing well you know you're giving them a right good go as well. Yeah I mean I don't think it's entirely to do in the way in Africa is just to do with. Maybe 2 percent one percent. Of Rangers fans and Celtic fans who give that tape of abuse so I mean I think there's a lot people usually that I brought the people who get a beautiful little bit of it it's important to recognize that as a real minority but it doesn't seem to be getting better you said this to you before the obvious stuff that crosses a line sorry you think he almost fell on the bring something new and I think I think that are obvious trigger points for the abuse he gets we can be quite blunt about it he gets it because he's fighting nature he got it because he was a very good player he got it because of the religious community from which he came from Northern Ireland he got in a lot of cases because in the Catholic Protestant divide he came from the so-called wrong side in the view of certain bigots who might support Rangers or other clubs that are a lot loads of decent Rangers fans who want nothing to do with that bigotry that they want to give him some stick they want to give him abuse. So there are all these reasons why he gets this abuse. And he is saying that he does thrive on it to a degree. He said Fraidy actually there's a darker say to some of it of course nobody is Can doing that but if fans are giving him pelters and I bet you on Saturday there were photos of him doing it he can a Fry's in it but when he gets one back in them yea he's going to Pompey's 1st or give them a gesture or see get up you know whatever the football lingo is that's how he years and I think. A lot of people I think are upset about Neil Lennon standing up for myself because they want to take it lying down they want him to take the abuse not react just take it lying down and he said repeatedly it's not my make up I'm not going to take the abuse line then I'll defend myself what should have been in that statement from the Ranger supporters group should have been a statement now why why did they make a statement Well a lot of people getting in touch someone here seeing. David O'Brian pathetic from copy 1900 you just heard him Spears Neil Lennon sure nor blame anyone here for your plea to McAllen close call moans Jim you and believe me McCall treating that as absolute confessed Lennon with indignation at the zealots a lot of people having a c. On this do you think social media please a part in Yes Listen I know flames. I suspect I know who is behind the statement that are some people for whom 2 words Neil Lennon just makes them com bust it just there was just in Mitty and he tried and bitterness the. I knew Lennon has been this hate figure among many Rangers fans for years some of it stems from bigotry some of it's got nothing to do with bigotry it's just he the don't like his character of the don't like his nature I've said repeatedly Kenny I don't want Scottish football turned into a merely Portman's environment where it's purified and it's puritanical of course you don't want that but I just find a bit rich when supporters dollar constant abuse and then the react like a bunch of screaming ballet critics when Lennon or somebody else has a go back I find that grossly hypocritical Well you know well let me tell you this you know if Rangers were to win the game they want even been a statement that I've been waiting for him upside the ground to give him. World on a new bike so you next you know next month if Rangers would have won the game that have been no statement there are no i just look at me online and Meccano full of himself among that stage of the game and increase the number of Rangers fans a number of Rangers fans were annoyed because the the they think that this proposed to ISPs statement of it Neil Lennon's uncivil behavior took away from the real issue of the game the real great we had which was the referee in performance for those that don't know the character Neil Lennon I mean a couple things the 1st time was seated in the studio it was going to calm the he's fairly direct these very honest because the studio said ask me about anything just just give an indication what he's like as a person. Well you know I'm not sure that's for me well you know it for me is a very minimal highly intelligent. Quite bizarre I find I'm quite shy in a certain way yeah you know and and it comes alive I mean on the bench I mean it's an absolute beast on the bench with no dope we've put in for over $16.00 you know and these are beside the bench but the intelligent can talk about more things has got a lovely family his sons are taught my son is just a fairly decent undervalue I used to say that I used to tease some Rangers fans of my acquaintance who would have the same reaction to Neil Lennon that you have Kenny and you've had Ian and Chris and I fired you for when you meet this guy you can't help waking him and get you know I used to joke that guys. Like some of these characters issuing the statement guys who spend 7 days a week see them in the testing the Lennon done it if they met him it's a downer if I find him quite awake of Oh God I've only read them a flicked a volley don't know any of it there is a point here you their original question you asked was. You know is he absolved of all blame of course he can't be you can't have that kind of gesturing for from a coach or manager I'm just trying to point out the context of of why he did it he I box he enters a very aggressive venomous atmosphere everyone I don't know what they're not just pointers of sky every time Celtics go brunt of Roger pushes on in there I mean where's the where do you stop saying to mind is right Ok there's going to be this whole new law now you know when your team scores no matter what in what position were you going to win a World Cup or a championship game in Scotland you can only clap you can only put your thumbs up. You can't face a crowd you can't game in involved in the atmosphere you can't get involved in the national bustle of professional football and wanting to win and putting it all on the line where you're going to end new ones turn around and put his arm in the air I find it ridiculous I really do it's just it shouldn't even be spoken about and the fact that like say the statement came out of Rangers and all this I think it's just added to more nonsense it is interesting to imagine let's turn this around a little bit and I've partly criticised Neil Lennon partly defended him imagine if a game was Easter Road and you had the main stand behind the dog oh yes and paid Ricky Sr acted like that and gesture to the Hibs fans I think we'd be talking about it I think we think it was over order not to the same extent no no maybe not but but it would be a talking point I can't imagine because she knew doing it because he's a different character from Neil Lennon and I absolutely see why Neil Lennon does it because of the constant abuse I don't I don't feel a level of abuse better because you know if I am inwardly see him as me when I get I well I hope I've made that clear in him but I'm just seeing if another manager if dealt McInnes gesture to the main stand at Celtic Park by the dog in that can away I guess would be a talking point is also I think it is a legitimate talking point whether Neil Lennon was in the right or in the wrong let's talk about the football and that helps performance and the squad that Neil Lennon has assembled because do you think the ever presume a Celtic will win the title are the serious contenders for. The stuffier But behind . The overall squad No I think they're right at the I think they've brought in some very experienced international players players that played in the Champions League . I think they've recruited Well they've certainly dropped on with the boys more up front you know double figures at this stage of the season is an absolute phenomenal return so if you can keep the fire on the gas then you know we could be. You know we could be talking about you know John you're probably scoring 30 goals. So if he does out there right in with a chance of getting 2nd it's just trying to maintain standards and consistency over the course of the season it's listeners who are in a good August or on a good September you've got to do it right up until the end of May That's that's the be all and end all and you know I think they've put this off right in the window there of staying they're going to become sucked into a much stronger than they were last season yeah yeah they are yeah I mean I think stalks if they can not so much keep them for keep them in the street and now you've got. A genuinely and go on talk last record was one that grayscale to ended up just probably played only sell to the very very well where and young again. Fitter and stronger. Our way to avoid those of me passes a ball where we gets a bit but you I think the Luke Luke better I think defensively they've got that strength as well they've got the strength and physical to be a world player they definitely could be I said inflated when I was working at The 1st saw the Jags Celtic game. When the Jags would and I just don't more pain or in a last minute I'll get to the Ok. I don't I think I said 2nd call before I think the battle over with I hope you come through and it makes a strong Rangers I have my doubts but hope it does but 2nd from 4th with Aberdeen I think the players that they've had in the championship for the last few years as given that. That edge of fighting for games you know the hostile in the bottle not so much a pretty football on the part they've got players in there that can step up when and when there's a scrap in the fire and you're expected to win tackles and go to Iraq and really start on a marker I think they've got the best of both marks that do play terrific football they create chances score goals and they can mix or when they need to I think it's a great blunder than what about Rangers under you for your don't rate from the start he seems ridiculous at this stage of the season is you under see this pressure right now he's under pressure Yeah I mean I don't think he's got it I don't think his c.v. . Conveys has enough in it to suggest he's got it Kenny I just don't think he's going to succeed at Rangers but he deserves a big chance a big opportunity he deserves time but he's had the European fiasco so far I think on Saturday when he tried to go to 3 at the back and keep 2 up and play 2 men Wade it gave a lot of momentum to Hibs Yes the they had a superior man an extra man. Sr for me is is is not a very good football coach he talks a great game he can bluster a way he can come out with all sorts of stuff I wish him every success proving his dotage wrong but he's not God but on Saturday I think it's a big statement so there's not a good football coach I mean I've been on the training ground with him if you watched him do it were I think it's a big statement to come up from an outside looking in and say that this coach here is no good without any notice so no I don't know what I said was No I don't think it will I'm never seen him work but I would never say that is not good for Walker I don't deny lots of good things about him being on the football field but I think personally I think it's a bit disrespectful to say that years not a good football and I didn't say that I said I don't think he's a very good yet with all my evidence for a c.v. I think I think over 6 full seasons 4 seasons of of very little progress I think is unconvincing but that's a c.v. As a manager you know you don't because for me it's very very different and I would never say that about the coach and coaches say because I've never seen him work what I think doesn't look as if it were as I think he is recruited to many for employers who are going to have one of them comes through or to them green I think is going to be unbelievable relying on Dorrans and Jack to scorch guys who have played in Scottish football. Is a bad coach. Perhaps doesn't see that he's had great success as a manager but that doesn't mean he hasn't been a great call whatever your what you've seen so far I don't think is I don't I don't think I've not said he's a bad because I just don't think he's a very good football manager we're asked repeatedly do you rate this manager to think is good you think he's average I don't think he was into the very good football coach of said it was just that you think it's disrespectful if you don't that's my if I mean some managers I think are top notch some of monies I think are average and some I don't read but listen. Sr will prove in time whether those of us who who who don't his real abilities at that level know what will be will have made it well that's the only way it onto the end of your news team and hope you will gain respect by winning football matches that it's politically a cop he and he was an out of a point 0 having been a critic of coaching he was unlucky and cited in one regard because I it was a miracle for me that Anthony's talk stayed in the park I know he died that that may have been a significant factor a beginning point you know where we're going to go into that I fully decisions most people getting in touch or some of his Good own dreams we have a calling bigotry or I Brooks and over here saying of criticize b.b.c. Scotland coverage of hips and football in the past but kudos to your measured analysis of the Neil Lennon situation I was at I have listened Saturday can tell you on good authority that Neil Lennon son and his partner and indeed Leeann Dempster were being abused it's classic deflection from the club the team once again was 2nd best to a decent help team Rangers in the cohort should stop picking the more high go nuts on Markham an Edinburgh or not he sees no need for desperate but the market as he calls Neil Lennon should learn to stay professional just brings trouble on keep your thoughts coming and the one here in terms of the game itself what game are you watching Spears's this person your game should win over in 20 minutes that I thought he and other officials were shambolic Jack doesn't get sent off range of walk at the decision not to send off Stuart MacGill is what you should be focusing on so let's focus on 'd not the game and I was one of many to evolve controversial refereeing decisions over the weekend let's start the one to operate in a let's go Fagan a value that they get to store in more pain like in the last minute again is that what you saw right away I mean I think if you've played the game a don't know that. You know you can just tell the way the guy goes over and you can you can tell what's happened I thought I actually thought it was one of those things when something's the going to end of Twain and but once you see it was just a clear panel and I and Allan arts world I asked support them and so out of the morning that we my game he wasn't quite as measured. Reviewer he was originally because the other sitting around I think if neighbor time gets tripped over. By the Center for it's a free kick in the box and you know solve it was no way to dress it up it was a definite penalty so what grade did you go so what did you do it for you actually made that if'n you made a mistake you made out you probably made 3 or 4 mistakes and Brandon Rogers maybe made well he's maybe made one mistake in our 6 months but everybody makes mistakes so if we made a mistake it was a it was I who are influenced the result of the game who's to say that's all disco depend on who knows but it was it was a penalty but it was no bank who harbored it was just a bad decision and and a bad mistake Alan Archer I was at the game you know and when you saw. Nearly beaten on their story I thought was a clear penalty was on form However Allan what did Alan Archibald mean by this and I'm paraphrasing reasonably accurately where we are Partick Thistle we don't get that decision I think we were talking I wanted to half of most of the clubs when they plea Stilton Rangers and things. I'm not sure I'm not sure that you know I think there's more pressure on the referee to get that because they're going through a sale to fans I think that might be by. I think the both blushed if we think that happens you know I just think that a referee just not a mistake is not thinking all this is Celtic can't give it is just think generally thinking it's not a penalty there's no way store that's not going to give it yes at Celtic not young everybody make makes mistakes you make I mean if you make sure but 50 or not all those. But what happens when I definitely makes a mistake and you're in the receiving end is what Weil's it anywhere to go in terms of forming joint Flemming at the end said to me for the manager go system or I do and I do one of the I've been doing that long I don't anymore know joins a good guy we had a game the week before and our midfielder Jamie I would go keep a good boot because it gave away a corner say self and he kicked the ball against the board like him but to me a good bit of sentiment fielder Jamie Adams went up to head the ball headed there and they have got a class then and it fractured his cheekbone 4 polices fractured his ice Orcon broke his nose and the guy didn't get back so when I was appointed when you know she's already done well exactly 2 players sent off in the command of Hearts game mother with 3 sent off against sin joins us now Norbert the big talking points from the game I blocked so let's let's go through that game so Ryan Jock was at the correct decision to send him off. Do you think I've seen different angles and one year ones No they definitely come together one thing I will say Stoke should have seen red there's no question you know he's on a yellow card and he's we've all seen the footage of the 100 me go insane or for the 1st one when he pulled the wrong to tackle a really stable but examples leader he said I think he was unbelievable lucky it was Ryan is look there I think if that was a red It had been there have been a debate they are short yeah it could have been it was right on the line there's no question run the fence of a straight red in the 1st place but. Yet again it's an exile to player one and you know the going back to I box and fired up is certainly put something in there mineral water before they went out there but it was a sort of game where it was very fiery a lot of players going head to head a lot of challenges a lot of debatable bits but yeah one thing we I think looking out for another 4 to Stokes should have seen Red I think Jack was harsh to see see a straight read because there isn't there was an eye for me I didn't see that there was enough there to give him a straight read The only thing I'll see is the footage that Michael and and 2 or more should last night on supporting I thought it did show pretty clearly the Ranger moved his head as I wrote it behind him if you yeah it does it looks so yeah it really does it look you know when you see on the side it's not just having a comment together but it's we've seen it from 4 different angles and we still can't quite make his mind or burn him on the referee's on there looking at 22 different players and all these events and everything like that for him to try and pick up what's yellow what's reading with the emotion of funds and I think it was almost impossible job you'd have been better off going down to the loo out and get an action replay and having a look at everything because there were so many incidents leading up to the ruckus it was impossible but another talk but Jack gets a straight read changes all complex of the game he was in and got the tails or Stokes or so on pot which infuriates everybody it's just you know I think it was a 90 minutes of. Anger that built up to the 90 minutes and that's why we got the statement from the Rangers support almost all of the and have a defense that you know I have been part of your class size but of many games where the opposition is went down to 10 men it doesn't always mean clear cut you're going to go in when the game reason we're comfortable some things is really really tough to reorganize the team and to beat them don't laugh at that same then yeah yeah and so you know. The 5 minutes where we were in with any I thought I thought Anthony Stokes was coming close to losing the plot Absalom you know the arm wrestle the call a rugby tackle when even below the rugby the atrocious tackling I think Tavernier was you know that could have been a raid he got booked and then in the flare up involving Ryan Jack and Anthony stalks I think he could could well have got another year within So I think it was a a minor miracle that stalks stayed in the park and I don't think it reflected well on the referee joint being in that situation. I think Ryan Jack would have would have received either a yellow or a red am for the alleged or apartment head motion like up like a head but I mean yeah I can really see it but but I saw the footage you talked to Ian and it made it pretty clear but even then some referees would have told them I said Guys listen playing in yellow yellow play on I want those out maybe the case with the sending us off Tamam maybe a bit more could be done to the Can That's it yeah it need to be so I thought I thought broad food was buying or in the forward game it's just not a good thing our whole in some debate here you know I mean it's you know they acted but I think I surveyed definitely what about the red cards Johnson Motherwell game again in sports scene last night I want you to the bell good for Good to see that the goalkeeper was. You know you it was you wanted it was it was a penalty at the end that was really the only option Yeah it was it wasn't sent off a trial the done Yeah yeah it was I mean the thing is we come back to this thing don't we can't we all looked at it at least I have 5 times I mean not merely in the middle of the park I box with. Everyone I mean in the moment I would if I clear went on their bodies you probably have to look at this footage of it 6 times to qualify and then you can make an affinity and authoritative criticism of the referee for missing there's not many things in school so many shows that are incredibly clear cut McHugh sending off for Motherwell was so clear cut the pay no incident photo was so clear cut and stalked was as clear cut as are they going to wrong he should have gone what about the referees do have an issue as good as part I just think others I just think there were too much going on there was only going to delimit one flying one way I think on his revolver Jack was involved it was like trying to look at the Royal Rumble it was. It was in and it was just crazy and from to make them so decision so quickly and try to get the game underway it was they needed video footage there's no question look at your thoughts coming to a program you can text as 80 to 25 on Twitter at b.b.c. Sports on the treat me at b.b.c. Kenya ball to get the guys thoughts on what we could be doing to improve the fortunes of Scottish football but just tell us what's going on at the moment it's quite a busy week for you yeah absolutely we've we've got under 1000 has got also the year for championships and Belfast at the moment and this week that is the primary sevens 50 of them who are going to be going to fascia well with the parents who are going to be going at the 7 performance skills for the next 4 years of. The School in life to actually go and train during the day with those in the clubs at night so it's the next then. Make of the performance skills Kenny was the selection process for these kids they get into these schools anyone can apply and then it's a series of trial games and trial appearances that actually happen often they were told don't and variably by that point most of them I don't echo demis in Scotland at the moment we talk to a talent id Department our scouts and of coaches and family is the boys don't you know the can a top 50 The end up and the skills and what the important thing is that it's the next 4 years of their life thrown as much as they can into that in terms of what can and sacrifice and double touches of the ball but certainly going forward we're going to look to change things slightly and put more demands on what evidence do we have that these performance schools actually walk. Well the 1st then take. I actually just finished. You know come sex months ago they had and under sixteen's I was only in the door 10 minutes and on the 16th played in a tournament against Croatia Hungary and Iceland up odium hit what university they are the 1st until they were finishing. And for the 1st team I suppose in my life I could say we were technically better than Kuwait as was the belly go more good up the belly was involved as well. And I think you know in the summer by McLaughlin took a team there and only a few weeks ago and 16 the next 20 played against England Qatar and you know why and brainstem won the tournament again. They were getting better technically we are getting better with their physically no absolutely no day nutrition no stenting addition in speed no but something that we will have good improve on as well but the groups that are coming through that are getting twice as many touches of the ball as any other kids in Scotland. On can a par have to be slightly better than than the not so you finally job is a much resistance within Scottish Vawter when you had a job scene there was a lot of resistance Don't people to the idea of change. I don't I can't speak for before our eyes but what I did was the one I did was go to an investor most of the clubs are stoic get a few but visit most and I think that that communication is a huge thing I think set in front of some of the a cup of tea the porter cabin office where training going but if you want to call it and listen to them and listen to the problems and issues. Makes goes a long way I think that we've got to do this together so these performance schools for example I've asked all the clubs to actually give me a coach one of the coaches you know as and when they can to be involved in the performance where they've got kids. We will give them as much help in its ways as possible what we're really looking at the same kid we don't have any conflict of interest as far as the players concerned we want the player to be better because we want to play for Scotland. They want the player to be better and if I you know tied up with 5 universities who are going to be helping the perform skills as well with the criteria I was talking to the nutrition psychology Sportscenter conditioning that's to help the clubs help the players and I've said we've got to do this together stakeholders I've got to come together to do this and so far you know I talked to certainly s.p.f. Ilves academy that it does every week. Money just now and again but chairman and chief executives on a in a monthly basis as well to keep people up to date as to where we are with things and I think if you if you communicate regularly you're never going to agree with everyone that they're not going to leave you but in the main if you keep people involved you can sell a better chance you've played in Scotland you manage in Scotland if you get strong opinions on we were going wrong what needs to change. Well you know what I mean let's not smoke his job or what we'll see as I think we've always had really talented kids from the ages 121-314-1516 we've been let out with them and it's not process from the age up to 2021 when they should have they should be progressing and if Osteen's before then. So I think that. The project brave thing I I know I mean I'd love to ask him Ok I know that there was concessions given today but I know there's a vast majority at least 7 of the s.p.l. Clubs. Are not happy with the you know that it's been designed by the 5 bigger clubs I don't know what Mark would say about our I support I got to be directed to the because I know and you are speaking about money and that's that's what you asked me to ask. While I was out there was there was a meeting to someone can party that was put together to actually go through and that was for the 1st time that stakeholders what I asked to be involved in the. Know there was there was a there was 2 chairmen on the. Top 5 I suppose that you could say and the results there was an academy director who were thought top 5 or that would involve that actually at the table for the as I said it was before I had I but. At the moment when the clubs. What I what I do finally believe in is the fact that we are asking clubs to improve standards of coaching. And improve. The investment and if a sell it is. And to get better qualified people involved at the football clubs I'm with you in common sense but some clubs just don't want to invest more money though I just think market for I was an early and we are trying to do all. I think you would I mean with your guys by the year when I was often asked that. And we have at it from a financial point of view it's tough to get all with things in place that needed and that's why your father and that's why I've spoken to. Sell a group of people and instead of being all or nothing there's a medal criteria so there's a soft landing a kilometer you know poor analogy but it was everyone's going to have a bed in school and there's going to be a king size bed double on a single but you will get a bed and before maybe it was seen as you get the king says you get nothing and I think that is good small efficient academies out there who run the systems where only they put good coaches good players but they're not at the top level the. Highest level so they can compete there but they're not you know they're not just using communities we have a 15 year old who I was want to involve in the 1st team to morrow evening against the storm and if they told me I couldn't get only 15 and the tournament is talking about the kids names phonecall point he scored against anyone and you know virtually any. Real chance but I don't know why they said we wouldn't ever want to put one of Benji Maybe but one for Tim I understand in that sense actually is play a I don't know what office objective as you noted but we wanted to you know and we for us to produce a player like that who's homilies ornamental was able to Rangers' half the bills as the. Fabulous And it's it's I'd love to see you keep and have and been able to put I mean you're forced him in as I go to help I don't know you don't know that but but you get a look at the youngsters and if we go back to where we are the if we go to then you know the twenty's 1920 they get they get the hard knock I think because they get they have consciously been told the 920 ones. Where it's fractured the twenty's of just going to 2 alone and finish 3rd 12 for the 1st time in 20 years we've been invaded we've beat but as well for the force team and a country's history at any level France and Brazil don't clearly grip No 3 the best players. Coincidentally played 25. Games for come on it last year. And Taylor. And the only reason that they were playing was because the experiment of a bus full on players coming from England didn't work and no manager had to talk to them and over certain would build these kids came and hold the door and the next minute the confidently played against Brazil over and 21 as we said our youngsters have to get chances up to you know for that to happen the manager has to be relaxed and often always get more than 6 weeks in a job they've got to be good enough the 1st and foremost it's not good enough I spoke to I spoke to Staunton well enough I spoke to Stephen Wright about us going up to see faithfully and I spoke to Steven Wright and I got to the other side of the conversation from Alex method for Cook who was his manager who blooded them. Now they saw David Robertson today just shoot McCamey Scottrade back thing went across to left bike and they put a scare then Stephen Wright didn't know granted it was playing alongside 233 I think footballers but the next day to games is 20 horrendous games but the manager played in 3 games and after the games he was even top flight I see because as you know I grew into a certain extent but I think some things there's a tape of players those ones that are quite obviously read in they're going to be good enough but I think there's the vast majority you don't know until you actually play them when you put them fully in there yeah you know and I think about what's in it for the bios and Kemal if by is good and it's an all or self-interest and you actually care what happens to Scottish football do you actually just kill or you know you're just a result well. That's 2 very very different things of course I mean if I was to give that organ every manager's well known Morse Yeah I genuinely I mean I when he was gone there's a 7 year old my father so yeah I'm steeped in a way most people genuinely happy with the kids are seeing the young white girl man who big Malcolm spoke with he's as good as I've seen it since we he's as good as I've seen he could be some and real of all those landmines in that we have on of course others but there's 2 of the kids over there just know that could be extra special photos do you know the coaches do have the coaches and scores we have why why then are you seeing kids a good level and then they don't progress where you would expect what's happening there maybe you know that's a management thing not just a coaching thing you know I'm sure I've been in many clubs where coaches have been pushing kids they're under 20 coaches and the ratio of coaches back and what they were pushing kids to play them play them and play them in the 1st team but your manager then that doesn't mean you know if he blood's these kids there and and it doesn't work the kids will still be at the club he won't be that's a problem although I spoke to one of the they spoke to the Premier League chairman and we had this debate and it's a bit sometimes it's about. Club View which is where is the club the club the sage the going to get dinner then the the need to buy the manager or tell the manager that is that it we're going to you well play some young players we will take consequences and there's a balance between where that goes but allows the manager to then play some youngsters coming through in the 1st names how to Lucky's perhaps are a prime example of a huge example of that that no matter what that manager knows that he's got the backing of these people Brotherhood the that is actually our plan at the club that we are bringing through if they're going to invest so heavily and the Academy which they do that they're actually going to be flourishing players coming through the academy because Yet the question you asked why or why the players Nokomis because they've got to be given a chance if they're good enough you're not a class of go to be good enough but can you throw me under the bus and expert or looks alright an academy football and then the next minute play in front or 5060000 are broken it's like Ok rabbit and the Outlaws you will ruin a player. Development League not the natural stepping stone they'll get you just for the incredibly funny thing as the. Lame from the breadth of our country as fans like nothing better than a 171819 year old coming through and see them again he's exceptional of course but he's a good example funds all of them so therefore they are govern a little bit more leeway and I think it's growing. But they're also unforgiving towards a manager if he fails and I shall say that's a catch $22.00 or 3 and roll back the drawback for Rangers or Celtic as you have I think you have to be exceptional to to get in there if you go over the last 1520 years you have to be an exceptional young body fair action or any exceptional young kid in tyranny because Alex McLeish said I'll be billeted the fans talk. A good game of that brings to youngsters you know what they want the team to win they want the team to win and if the team doesn't win the system is meritless the manager gets sacked so the manager says I can't afford to blood youngsters unless they're brilliant I can't do it that's why partly doesn't work yes I'll take the one that actually the forefront of bringing frou Scottish youngsters when you think about Tierney James Forrest Stu Armstrong Callum McGregor Scott Brown got fi there was stop probably against Stan in midweek or squash or plain national team the other 2 to them didn't come through their system though but obviously but I'm just saying that Scottish players and I know we start of it down the night is a new game when you think about people down in England you know English players and their national teams struggling because of the lack of players playing at a top level you know trunk planning to Premier League months into my you know the English players you know in Scotland actually we have got a good group of Scottish players playing week in week out for Celtic for Rangers for Aberdeen I think it's it's certainly going in the right direction and showing up when we play against England well more than a match but of the next lot coming through even touched on it there in terms of the young boy Billy Graham and getting him just mentioned who I think he could have done too which is body Ferguson about 820 games for Rangers became his 21. If you look at a pathway for upliftment through the line means that bellies go in front of my advice and you know I think this is the point how do you go in the rain just in which there's a good chance the next 18 months he could have and this is a boy went to Chelsea why couldn't you just argue with the course you know volved not could you speak to him as a stiff performance let's look. This is your best chance and all the money the losers don't so why did he make that choice for you in the ring. This is the answer I did speak as an independent and someone who had been a manager of manga and dealings with young players who were at the possible or going in mindset at that point a young 16 year old I had spoke his mind spoke to Bill in his moment out. They decided to do what they did and that's quite evident as to why that was the case they decided to stick with it but I honestly think from I would love to have seen him stay at Rangers and I honestly think that but when he when we define incredibly exciting town I really hope that he quickly goes on loan at Chelsea to someone and keeps progressing because for me I need good young Scottish talent coming through and the players you mention and the shelf life is getting there you know there's 2 or 3 there that's no longer a Chelsea I think opens up so many avenues of so many doors that it could go on loan to a Darby county or Nottingham Forest if you go to a burning and I think if you're playing for Rangers you might be going to Dunbar and you might be going to a more you know I mean that sort of all I don't think it would be going to one I think you'd begin straight and I absolutely think it's only just starting already not right now because he's physically not ready yet but in 18 months it will be ready for doubles team there's no 1000 month stay when he $715.00 that's when you know he's a pilot there's an 18 year old he deployed and Ranger you have to look so you know you see them and you see the day oh yeah he's nearly there in a physical way I mean there have been theer standing example in the last 4 or 5 years of. Very very promising young players careers have gone into arrears if you think of Danny Rose and the Rangers if you think of the way Fraser Fyvie was spoken of at one point and school Allan They were all 1819 they were all seen precautious the office had a great pathway but they couldn't resist the money of going elsewhere and the careers of going backwards again but there's no question of I spoke to Danny Wilson at Melwood Liverpool training or once and he did go and he was standing when he went I was there only I was as an oily and he would have babies are born in a team and I've never met a boy so down when he was at Liverpool he was just desperate to go with it basically wasted and not financially but 23 years of his career. Lots of people getting in touch your questions Mark you just rattle through some of these some and say you're fun of lordly clubs have been consistently against court teams why are you still pushing for us well firstly that's not the chemical. You know it's no less if it has p.f. Else or you have it off I don't think I think it's something that the clubs would have to look very very long and hard up purely because you'd have to actually invest some of the money to put a 2nd team on a Saturday at the same time as your 1st team with all the support staff and a bit on the ground in Scotland that could support 2nd Division football so Kanan home any number of those that could actually do that and score and rate Bob in Inverkeithing What about the significant displacement of many talented youngsters there's no gone for the likes of Inverness and Sid joints and you to project the brief acquirements I disgraces ball in the past I don't really know where we're going that once again policing is it's difficult displacement of many talented youngsters that have no go on the legs of a nation's joints and used to project believe requirements as he suggested because these called me nor may not be selected for the elite academies. You know there's something called m p was which is measurable performance a comes it means that you're 12 to 16 you know teams are measured and then how many players end up going through your 1st teams but you've got to be able to be pretty good enough that you know Celtic and Rangers beat 910 nothing on a weekend and you taking your best player 14 or you take your best 14 year old off the pitch because he's scoring too many goals is good for nobody these clubs have got to be the closer we play against each other at the weekends of trying to be best the best to make us improve there's no point in a team playing in against another team and been beaten 10 nothing the sort of global level of state you play in the teams that are as good as you well that's a result up on Twitter John haven't said why did the performance schools not plea each other instead of running up big scores against other schools in the local area because the performance schools for as far as I'm concerned we are not the effort to build a team we are there but to build individuals we're trying to improve the end of a job for the clubs it's the clubs players we don't we don't play there's a school team but nothing to do with what we're trying to do here at the moment we're trying to improve those individuals to go back to the clubs snob performance skills as a team like that question can he shows that that's what's wrong that question why because it exactly what Malky said it's not a really really good under 20 coach a really good on the 20 cause he's not really bothered about one in football matches is a ball of it producing a player that goes on and please never think of the bigger picture you know for years so you know the next year or the next world called that's what you're aiming for you're trying to develop all these young players to become much winners technically better physically but to take Scotland into a major competition even small Are you lobbying government to invest in suitable modern football facilities across the country each major city at least. Yes would be the answer and I. Can 15 minutes with Nicholas lodge in. The uterus the woman's uterus and the advisors and we are going to be going to meet again concern and. Facilities I would absolutely love to have more facilities in school and I mean Iceland the Cup place London players at Cardiff and the Icelandic. The banks before they went bust a slender good thing they actually put 10 huge endorphin dorms up and it meant that kids that could only play Sex months of the year because of the darkness up they could play 12 months the and all of a sudden big strong fat fly to man touch as well they actually had a technical ability as well why have you seen the youngsters coming through so prominently in Iceland that's why I think I said it's important to know the necklace dubbed into huge alienate fun just really you know. That's a god of yours why don't you know somewhere I want to talk to Billy Gilmore I saw the footage of kind of barely absolutely sensational we had our Nokia give people some hope that the talent is there it's coming through and it's being looked after as it should be what I thought I'd like to see is that maybe we're starting to come together to actually develop our players. As I said we're not in an ivory tower look and talking about people selling at the moment I mean I'm want to get in and be involved with the clubs I want the heads of academy coming away with the Scotland squad as an observer to actually come and see what is going on and report back there needs to be to we. Flow of information between clubs and players concerning the players so that we try and. Improve standards improve our employee improve you know I play think ability improve die improve body improve mental strength but do it together so that we have some coaches and you know you touched on coaches as well. As the heads of youth in Scotland to bring your best young coach with you from your. To me and we're put on a 2 day seminar and we did it last month with the out of defending blog Sean Dyche and the coach next couple months we're going to be doing it again and this is not this is this is everything but on the field coaching so that we have some young coaches coming through the ranks when he left if you don't. And you've got a kid that's coming see at the end of primary school and I get a crucial stage what's the advice they says to to keep working as hard as you can because with that talent is not going anywhere in school and that's not going anywhere any level if you're going to be elite to anything you have to work harder than everyone else and you know we've got to keep giving evidence of other sports other countries other teams that I actually do know for excellence as do you know what alias as opposed to mediocrity and we shoot for as opposed to shooting for mediocrity and the message to people that is will get there things are changing my message to keep supporting the school and then Liam's only touched on it there you know defy any score whether of so to rain just fine Celtic find their lately get as they don't like your face we're not saying go in and. Score was watching all over the world they were jumping up and down I want us to be doing that for the youngsters coming through well thanks very much indeed for coming and Malcolm performance later thanks also to him a call to Kris Commons and to greens.
