You're listening to Good Morning Scotland with Bill White furred and Julian Morrow as the time know is coming up to 8 minutes past 8 the climate crisis looks set to dominate the election agenda today fueled by the controversy over Channel 4 s decision to freeze the conservatives out of last night's televised leaders' debate as we've been reporting both Boris Johnson and Nigel Farage turned in their invitations to take part finding them. Well substituted by ice sculptures symbolically melting under the heat of the studio lights the conservatives have accused Channel 4 of orchestrating a provocative partisan stunt lodging a formal complaint with the broadcasting regulator of Com whatever the rights and wrongs assert the campaign focus firmly on the climate and the policies of the main players in this election we heard earlier from Labor and the Lib Dems I'm joined now by the s.n.p. Candidate David Linden and the Scottish Conservative m.s.p. Morris golden Good morning to both of you thank you for joining us. First of all Morris golden Why did Boris Johnson not turn up last night well I don't think it's up to media outlets to dictate to political parties who in variety of hoss things clearly Boris Johnson as prime minister of this country has a whole range of tasks and activities to do in terms of running this country as well as. The Conservatives sent forward Michael Gove who's a leading light on their environment and climate change and it appears as if Channel 4 or blackballed him but also the other party leaders were frightened to debate with the conservatives on Channel 4 last night David Linden What's your reaction to events last night well I was actually the our only Media them last night you know arrived just a few minutes after Michael Gove who had that are you all make it up with the 20 press officer who's filming the whole thing look the reality here Julian is to be had been organized for quite some time it was a party leaders to be and you know if the Conservative Party like other parties genuinely believe that a claim of militancy is one of the biggest issues that will define this generation then surely had nothing to how you did actually last night was a pretty good to be good to see about focus on the claim agenda and the fact that the Conservative Party decided to kind of matter and so to the north of the home and watch Netflix shows that it's just a massive application of response that we don't know what to do and different a bit more it's called an. Is it not an indication of how serious the party is about tackling climate change that he could not send a leader to to this event and he said the former Environment Secretary Michael Gove Well I think you see the you know the leader of the s.n.p. In Westminster for not attending costings in his own constituency you know it's. Quite common for both party leaders but others to not attend toss things because they've got either passion or commitments or like the prime minister has to do run the nation of the United Kingdom and I think it's perfectly acceptable to send a substitute to these house things and it isn't for media outlets that Pete should attend and I think it's it's quite irresponsible of Channel 4 to refuse a leading light in the kingdom like Michael Gove. On the environment Well let's move on to the actual debate itself David Linton Nicholas sturgeon did attend the Greenpeace has a rank the party's according to what they think is the best green credentials and the s.n.p. Comes that after the greens at labor and the Lib Dems as head of the Tories and the banks that party but of course didn't own up that's not very enviable places that well I think when you look at the s.n.p. As record in the Scottish Government's record on tackling we just look to see for example with the United Nations the new suit at the legislation that's been strained in law to court as you were mentions between the 45 is bold inspiring issues leadership is for that reason that classical has been recognised to horse the summit next year and I think when it comes to tackling the climate evidence it is a lot and that was done to me for example 4 percent of all woodland that has been planted in United Kingdom is in Scotland 22000000 trees planted in school and so we are doing things the tackle the climate militancy and that's something that's been recognised by United Nations as being bored. Should leadership Morris golden It is the case isn't it the Scotland is ahead of the game and in tackling climate change . They're all the government are remarkable targets and I applaud However when you look at the staggering list of feel yours from the s.n.p. On. By the great always to landfall another feel recycling isn't going to be met for another decade feel travel won't be met for hundreds of years on current trajectory a current another feel renewable heat field by the various targets feel it's a litany of feel we're from the s.n.p. And that is appalling for the people of Scotland Well let's bring in David Linton again you can respond to what Morris golden said they had and it is true isn't it and friends of the earth correction arises as this is that you cannot write to horses when it comes to climate change on the one hand you are saying that there is a climate emergency but then you are supporting tax initiatives for oil exploration No I mean one of the 1st things that and governments one of the foster voted to clear out and said We are taking action on that school for example that's why any plans to reduce your passenger Do you know that was abandoned and one of things that soldier insulation town people are seeing generation Tompion is the plans them if you will the new clean energy deal which would see backed up by 3000000000 pounds worth of investment you'll get and the interconnector scorns islands drop in with whom are making sure to give clarity and certainty for title and we've told you there's a whole host of other things that we're trying to do whether that's decarbonise ration of real work 2035 so we are walking hard to meet the challenges of this claim I mean I can see and one of the things you saw at the debate last night wasn't just the politicians talking but in fact in the s.n.p. Government we're acting when we declared back claimant militancy which is it was welcomed by people you know nations then I think that she was that this is something that he can see us at I find it may be difficult to cheers from all of schooled in the Conservative Party but the climate militancy will. Decided not to show up last night Morris called and. David Linden has responded to you but what of the Tories they've been in power for 10 years well have achieved there has been no climate action has been well in the Scottish Parliament 2 years ago I launched our portfolio paper who will challenge local leader leadership before the climate American c. Was even thought about it tackles reducing our global emissions creating a center for circular economy excellence restoring our natural landscape but I thought the irony of David Linden's comments there where he's talking about connectors expanding our renewable energy base all of that can only be achieved through a single u.k. Energy market so if the s.n.p. And David lender and are now suggesting the only by being part of the union can our climate. Change targets be met then I throughly welcome that David Landon an independent Scotland would be able to meet the climate change targets but I think that's utter nonsense and. As well I mean what we see from the conservative government is a party that wants their party and indeed a government that wants to extract us from the European Union you know and all those things that we do in terms of meet environmental standards that we're going to born fire if we do that's about spy People's Court have got to figure out which unity to escape but exit in which case you're able to leverage and otherwise have a government and the huge key pillars are Libyan Union which went out of invite thank you very much David Linton the s.n.p. Candidate we also heard from the Scottish Conservative m.s.p. Morris It's 16 minutes past 8 Leaks reporters revealed that there were warnings about the risk of water contamination at Scotland's largest hospital before its official opening in 2015 Glasgow's Queen Elizabeth University Hospital open despite the alerts and a sensor to close wards because of problems with the water supply reporter Khana Gillis has been speaking. Kim Dyke the mother of Milly Maine she believes Millie died in the hospital from an infection linked to the water supply cause started by asking for her reaction to these latest revelations the fact that no one from 2015 it's absolute disgust and nothing was done about it you know actions taken to the hospital still open considering. The new boat in advance but also the talked about it afterwards as well when you 1st got tooled this report exists that these multiple reports existed with your instant reaction shock Paula. A 2nd believe that I can't believe that these reports existed and nothing had been done about them going back to 2015. And nothing had been done to remedy these problems with the water I don't know how they've got now either not fixing the problem 3 years that just don't understand that and the fact that this was a school to help protect the school in the Scottish government all around your daughter was in the hospital do you believe that she had been taking things with the time difference I believe Mellie would still be here action had been taken Yes I have no doubt in my mind. And I think right now. It's not me if you know knowing you know national warts scamp and it worked horrified there's just there's no words to describe the pain of knowing that if things had been tough and things had been sorted with the war you know she would still be I think the health courts need to be held accountable for the mistakes that they've made and I think they really need to come forward know and say here before we've made a mistake you know admit what they've done. They keep Aiden behind all the statements but you know we would've been made that way to any of us if it wasn't for the vessel borstal I'd like to thank him for coming for how we handled this entire situation because it looks like Milly was one of many people who felt as a result potential of this water supply I don't think that handled that at all I think they've slipped under the carpet and hoped it would go away or just don't think. They'd realize just how serious that says as a health board that should be their main priority is putting patient's care fashed they haven't done that in a sense that's the health board as it stands just know shouldn't be in their job I don't think they've made this course a mistake they should not be on that health board and that's where I think I would like to take this you would really prosecutor you know. Do you think that's potentially where this could go because you said it in your own words Milly would say she would still be here today had it not been for the mistakes. Not making any comment and that the moment need to take all that information and. I would also like to put it I have no higher than apology from the health port where they keep these statements that they've apologized to the parents they haven't. And that is the mother of Milly mean can doubt it speaking there to corner Gillis and a spokesman for the n.h.s. Critic last conclave health board told us that they are very sorry for the on going to stress that's been caused to Mr and they want to provide appearance with as much support us possible the spokesperson went on we are in contact with Mr I would like to meet her to answer her questions if she would be harpy to do that 20 pasty 6 years since a Police Scotland helicopter crashed through the roof of the packed Klute a bar in Glasgow on a busy Friday night killing 10 people it's the 1st time the anniversary has fallen on a Friday since the 2013 disaster and it's being marked with a candlelight vigil poetry and video projections side the public to tonight Good morning Scotland's David Allison reports. 6 years on from that terrible night which claimed the lives of 3 people on board the Police Scotland helicopter in certain people in the clue for injured 31 more the pain and shock for those directly affected remains still very raw I feel a hero and obviously if it likes it quiet it was just recently but it's all back again you know families are still suffering off sleep what happened but pub owner Alan Cross and the Friedel accident inquiry reported at the end of last month blaming the crash on pilot error saying David trail had switched off fuel transfer pumps for unknown reasons causing the engines to flame out because of fuel starvation despite having 73 kilograms of fuel on board while some accept the findings others question an aircraft design for it's possible to switch off pull fuel pumps in mid-flight be very dry today but tonight is last minute arrangements are being made for video projections outside the pub the focus is on remembering those lost and affected and how community can. Normally. Because of their. Will to sit at least with. Some music on before. We can. Use. My Glasgow was not dealt with out as bottles was not drawn with my Glasgow does not always get on with itself but we stood together and silence that night spoken word artist Josephine has been commissioned by b.b.c. Scotland's the social to write and perform a poem at the vigil the crash went through a roof and some concrete but every street of my glass will fail to crack great 3 are as old does because we've all lost someone that we love but it was really daunting but I've lost members of my family I lost my dad and I think that that's how we all can relate to it because we've all lost someone and actually it just could have happened in any pub been an hour say and I think it just gave us all like a real shock and I remember us in a taxi in the town and I remember the taxi driver pick up I mean him just like being in total shock we couldn't believe it so I think it was daunting because you want to make sure that your best bet for the families and the people that directly lost but I think also we can all empathize with what happened my Glasgow managed to pull itself together dust off but years later we are still thinking about what was law. Is very much in the thoughts of the Reverend Dr Lawrence Ripley at a service in Glasgow 2 days after the crush our children is that we stand to fire and that are great and fiber and irrepressible city. Shall stand together with our suffering while you tried to balance the shock of the incident with the strength of a community coming together yeah I think that was the thing the head come a most is that you know people rounding up together and I think the last the good thing about it most disasters is that you know the sense of community that we are forced into that we don't usually have obviously it is a big price to pay up the life goes on the pub has long been reopened for business and is possibly even more popular the before but this particular Friday falling on the 29th of November anniversary that fateful Friday night 6 years ago will not be typical on crossing the go every It's just that we never ever go away and think we can never forget it when ever we remember our Glasgow managed to hold itself closely and we did not lose faith in our sky. That report compiled by David Ellison the time is approaching 25 prostate. Time for sports news this is fellows I was expecting maybe some news about the rest of what's going on b.b.c. Radio but no it's you it's me how good can you feel it the smart thing it's called positivity after the night of European football. About it it slipped across comes and my very last it is that. I have. Scars. To show you what. Was. The sound to getting past the brain 31 to win there Europa League groups but a game to spare Rangers on the brink of joining them in the last 32 after the 2 older away to Firedoglake the sale x. Ray farmer a Bronx midfielder joins us Alex Firstly thank you because I know it was a late night for you in Rotterdam. And I know you love a cliche but you watched against Fine are the game of 2 humps. I think air fire not what I saw in the 1st half of the real compasses. You know and deservedly so and with a one goal lead quite fortunate it wasn't more for Rangers but I think Nick and pulled herself together. Has think given the right game for them and you know they can only 2nd half an hour a lot more. And we've got Gayle it mellows. Us 25 goals in all competitions I mean even and then the simple yet so it's impressive and it gives them a good opportunity to go on and progress through the group Yeah Steven Gerrard said if somebody offered him 50000000 pounds in January he would be fused you said if you don't believe it well I think it'll be difficult it's all hypothetical it's not you know the standard manager's importance you try talk don't they doesn't my sale the biggest asset and and the form is on moment it continues to place you know to talk about the big games and just go to court and file not undermine a what you thought was so impressive and then red hot atmosphere and Rotterdam as well another thing impressive Alex even jet out he went in at halftime and he said to his players I want you to show me the real Rangers and yet responded It's a really impressive ability that for for a group of players to respond to a manager it was you know I think it would normally have caved and. In the last few years in terms of that now it was a very hostile place last night you know it was really good up material it trick but they came out and saying half of me I think we did a better or a place in teams and it just gets him going more as an offensive option and you look at Davis Kent and in supply to him at a loss it just brings a not they mention to them and you saw that the 2nd half and just quickly do you think Rangers will get the draw they need next month to get young boys and I box Yeah I think they're I think they go and let's take a look at Celtic How far do you think they can go Alex because in winning their group last night with a game to spare that means that they'll avoid all the teams that drop out the Champions League effectively stronger games given last season showing the bill mess that those ones here will tell you when you look at the actual group that had that was a strong group as well so to add a very strong when you look at the team the last night they could afford to put on a few fringe players you know Taylor Morgan and champs come back and get a free so that such an idea talent Celtic saw it depends on the draw really but I think these teams Rangers answer to a look at us as they can progress the potential but it just and they will think there's a freaking go quite far because the really strong at the moment are going to get results and light snow and so forth you don't really strong place he's beaten reins comfortable last night so you look at that and will go quite far in the competition here and another manager getting the best out of a group of players that but 12 months ago under Brendan Rodgers maybe when performing at such a high level yeah thing that are different proposition and you don't you know I think. He's going to be all over he's going to begin to teams and it's refreshing because I think when you look at the core physicians he is well you know one of the top to canter and when you look at the both groups prior to the clip stage one you think just a little bit difficult but the ball from a top and it was a commonly stands at the moment with us one so in terms of corporations Yeah I think it's absolutely brilliant because it potentially we get to. Champions League . How much sleep do you have lost my balance. I got off either sex but I'll back amongst it for what happened that he was happy and that's both good and sore see all of us thank you so much for joining us this morning Alex in Rotterdam last night live for us this morning thanks for. To tell radio f.m. Medium wave and b.b.c. Sounds b.b.c. Radio Scotland the time is 24 minutes to 9 throughout the program this morning we've been getting reaction to that area that's blown up in the wake of last night's leaders' debate on the climate crisis as we've been reporting it was supposed to be an historic event a confirmation if it was needed of the increasingly central role that the environment has come to play in our politics but the policies have been somewhat overshadowed by the ice an absence of the prime minister and Channel 4 his decision to replace him with a lump of melting ice our environment correspondent Kevin King joins us now good morning to you haven't. We talked about that the controversies What do you make of what happened last night. What it sort of feels like climate change is the big issue of the moment that's desperately struggling to break through the BRICs it bubble it just doesn't quite manage it and I mean really you know scientist to many people even the politicians on the panel last night will tell you that this is the most important issue certainly in scientific terms of our time and it probably would be dominating the election I think if if we were if it was in any other country or if we were grappling with the the e.u. Issue it has however completely shot up the agenda of the climate change since the last election and that's really what led to last night's debate I mean you couldn't even imagine something like this happening even 2 years ago the reason I suppose is that it's mobilized the younger electorate those voters who perhaps wouldn't of becoming gauged in politics in previous years we've seen over the summer that those young people have become engaged politically with a small p we've seen the school strikes obviously but then 1819 year old and those in their twenty's for whom the polls suggest this issue matters the most a part is really just don't want to. Dismiss the potential impact from those people on this election and of course those strong scientific warnings that we've been hearing over the last year to 18 months as well and looking at the party's different commitments is there much common ground there. Well it certainly is an issue that features in all of the manifestos the s.n.p. Have clearly just said they're legally binding 2045 target for Scotland so they haven't been calling for any new targets for net 0 emissions instead they've been calling on whoever it is that is going to be occupying number 10 to invest in areas like carbon capture usage and storage and to bring forward target dates for the use of new electric vehicles to match the target in Scotland of 2032 the Tories they've promised an increase in tree planting and of course there's a big race on who's going to be planting the most trees They're also promising a 6 $140000000.00 pound nature for climate fund the Scottish greens they've called for an 80 percent reduction target by 2030 which is actually interesting the less ambitious than the England and Wales party who want net 0 by their labor talk of bringing the date forward too but they want they don't really seem to specify a particular date somewhere in the 2030s seems to be mentioned in their manifesto and the Lib Dems they talk about not the target so much but things like an 80 percent target for renewable energy by 2030 so you know it is in there all of the parties are certainly heading in the same kind of direction but how far each one of them is stretching seems to be differing from party to follow party and just finally briefly where heating from extinction rebellion airily are planning 12 days of protests in the run up to election day expecting much just option. Well I mean the disruption that we've seen over the summer particularly down in London and to a degree in Edinburgh what kind of one off events particular the one in at a moment I asked that a few days whether or not they'll be able to achieve that I'm not quite so sure in terms of mobilisation there's a big climate strike taking place today there was a big one in September that Walmart's the one year anniversary of gratitude beginning her 1st strike whether today's is going to achieve the same numbers I mean we saw huge numbers in September it's difficult to gauge but it doesn't seem to be generating quite as much interest but of course the point of all of this is to keep climate change on the political agenda thank you for that update our environment correspondent Kevin Keen there 29 where there's not a spark that lit the fuse on the day of the Hillsborough disaster in 1989 the much Commander David Duncan field give the order to open an exit gate at the Leppings Lane end of the stadium that order certainty in a chain of events that caused the deaths of more than $1000.00 Liverpool funds but yesterday Judy phoned David Duncan field not guilty of manslaughter by gross negligence a verdict that's left the families of those killed in the tragedy shocked and stunned the Derby Matthews lost her brother Brian people when the football game as a family that went with death on that came home at this on them by the bags you went as a family on a Saturday to watch for partying play the should have been any risk that you wouldn't come here. To understand is the mayor of Liverpool joins us know Joel what's the mood in the city. I think a lot of people felt really frustrated them but will that yesterday afternoon when the news filtered through but I think it's to end. A sense of anger and injustice. And you know what the system and the way the system is where going against ordinary people here and I think there's a sense of Braille anger now but it was only people wasn't on the jury cleared David Duncan field Well it was but the system itself if you look at the judge in is so no but if you look at the defense and how they put trade 75 year old David go who feel this as the only passing not responsible and the reality is he was $45.00 when he made this faithful decisions you know show I accept that he alone shouldn't be held totally accountable for a system failure that included many many organizations and people you know that all Kubler you could say that the pace knew put they would do who feel they in charge of a semifinal the day if a staff or a commandment of a of a football match it was wrong so there are many many reasons and those ordinary people in that jury have to make it lesion a way that there was any criminality around what they would do who feel that and so that's my point here but is this them but it's been 30 years almost 31 times a some stage there's going to have to be some sort of closure some sort of moving on is not good can you see where that was is going to come from not necessarily I'm sorry but that follow you are so the yellow line here the fact of the message is just this will take as long as it takes and the reality is we know off that the you know the thing in think he's ago we had an inquiry that completely exonerated the fans that the victims and said that it was all awful kill and so you know how long it takes or whatever it. Just the should be seen to be told now if the system where it's against the nothing wrong because they acquired it is made it absolutely clear that the victims didn't go as the old that's now you know let's be clear here 31 years ago the establishment and people patrol a Liverpool fans have been the causation if you like of their own debts and so the families in the people of this city and the victims and the survivors of all it's a deal with them so you know they will not give up with that will not end you know people talk about closure the families in Liverpool and beyond Liverpool don't want somebody to be scapegoated old oh don't want revenge they will justice and at the end of the day the truth is out and people know what happened that it wasn't the funds wild Well it wasn't the fines or wasn't David Duncan field who should be in the don't know well then there's lots and lots of things not just this 3 trials come along and I can't go into great detail in a book you know what we've seen is that the people are wrong the Hillsborough ground the football ground of being fined 6 and a half 1000 pounds for inadequate health and safety and that that's the only find if you like that the only Polish Mint that's being dished out over the things he wanted he is it wakes I was it right about things he has it's you. Had lost a life it's ridiculous but the reality is. That our system failure that is individual failed as some people of that. Book People have to be held accountable that surely is the basis in the tenants of a democratic lawful society that if somebody is found to be unlawfully killed then somebody has to be held accountable for them to understand the mayor of Liverpool thanks very much for your time this quarter to 9 Stevens up at 9 o'clock is here now to tell us what's on the show Good Morning Morning Good Morning After all. He didn't you know of a type is suck order it's a verb Chub that comes out. Stunning and Slate Your own world girl but I want to look at whether this is a good idea in Scotland with the alcohol issues that we have here and of course tomorrow is sin and today the Scottish government one is all to celebrate this year and take part by making someone's day special with a simple random act of kindness we'll have some great ideas how you can do that this is an underage weekend or more with me from like you could use a self-service. Sort of under my case of pneumonia. But it's 13 minutes and I am now in the headlines the Conservative Party has asked the broadcasting regulator to investigate claims of bias at Channel 4 after its climate debate last night mother has said her 10 year old daughter would still be alive if action had been taken to adjust claims of water contamination at a Glasgow hospital and one of the U.K.'s 6 biggest energy firms and power has announced plans to restructure the business. There's only what some of the latest travel news Bill and black arrows market has been a landslip So that means templates on the $832.00 around the feed line at the moment on an Aberdeenshire on a 96 both directions road works adding to your daily. This morning some good news from East within the 199 the stretch to Walford the road is open there was an accident which was on the bridge over the one but that's all been cleared and then we're still getting reports of queuing traffic a breakdown on the city bypass the reason for not for westbound traffic at last we draw. 74 of the compass on the road junction that's junction 2 you're looking at Glasgow bones or north by and believes here on the m 8 west been proven to fruit market is where you're slowing down so that's junctions 13 through to 14 and on the trains there's a fault between Can you see so you're looking at delays maybe 20 minutes I'm told and the destruction showing to the bit 10 o'clock at the moment that's b.b.c. Radio Scott the travel if it's a freighter day and your pals are actually stored b.b.c. Radio Scotland from 10 o'clock to one in the market. It's just like a group of pals all gathered together then letting them have in a chat except for spread out over the water. We've got heads from all across the day and a collective body of training to get you a dance and get you thank you to make you feel happy. And work up the charset just sort Dodgers where we take a look at soap stars who tried to be singers and didn't quite make it because even mediocrity need sample rate which is how I got this radio show. On b.b.c. Radio Scotland the time is 11 minutes to 9 universities and colleges across the west of Scotland are united to tackle gender based violence under the banner of fearless Glasgow the new group launching today is looking to help raise awareness of sexual violence and off for enhanced support to more than 150000 students Jackie Maine is the chair of fearless Glasgow and she joins me now good morning to you good morning why the need for a campaign like this well this is work that we have been doing for a long time. But I think the feeling was the work order needs. The gentle approach to it would make a big difference to all of those so we've established this multi-agency partnership which is involving all the colleges universities 3rd sector and Police Scotland and Glasgow and and the 2 to work together on this because it is something that we all feel very passionately about it's high in all of us and we have a ship commitment to creating safer communities for our students and staff yeah we had to merge that Glasgow University said it was beefing up its campus security because of a number of attacks near by what's your response to something like that well I mean we're all part of a society where this is a problem and I was just stuff me such a high percentage of the overall population of. These issues are problems not just for universities and colleges but for for the whole of the city really. And universities and colleges have been doing a lot over the last few years to China meet our community safer for our students so yeah there's a there's there's a lot to do but there's been a lot of work as has gone on over the last couple of years to to raise awareness of the issue and when you're talking about offering enhanced support to 150000 students what are you talking about there well all of the partners in fearless. Are stages of development we've all got one initiatives and ideas and things that we're doing and the purpose the feeling is I suppose to bring those together so that we can she had activities and interventions to try and get some best practice and also make the best use of quite skittish sources as well. Working with the other agencies who work in this area the office we also have limited resources. Doing this collectively has has a real benefit to share that good practice and expedience. A huge Oh just finally using the name fearless Glasgow What is that saying well we boarded the name from Edinburgh this. Started in Edinburgh with colleges and universities and we just loved it it means we out of your list Glasgow and we're going to do our best to make sure that we can respond and tackle gender based violence collectively and that we we will be very very focused on Jackie Maine thank you for joining us the chair of fearless Glasgow there the time is 8 minutes to 9 and how do you go about rebuilding trust in a well known charity tinted by controversy Warners has to call in a multimillionaire businessman and apply catalyst Thanks Joe a kill walk began in 2011 to bring together leading charities to raise money through sponsored walks to 5 years ago or to merge that more was being spent on costs kill walk then went to good causes the charges began desire to get Scottish tycoon Sir Tom Hunter then stepped in to turn things around and this week a cute walk has reached the it's least a small stone sport to start all about why he felt it was a brand worth saving we became form can walk in 2016 and someone else had started can't walk it was someone else's idea it was never us but they had gotten better over the precious. Some of the funds the charities were rescinded we get 100 percent of it saw they came to me to see something you could help as worth and myself and my team at Hunter foundation thought Yeah sounds great what happened in 2015 was that the the board of trustees was a place and then you came along you obviously had to do a bit of bronze kind of rescue exercise there hypothetical but you know what I think with all these things is have a trust and we had to speak to the charities to see a look if you if you walk. In you've got a 100 percent of the money which was quite an easy thing for us to do but then what happened was. The 1st year was successful but at the hunter Foundation with us to get and help so many people and we just see the norm but we can't really call and therefore with the say that that the kill walk would be a platform for any and every charity and school in today's money for what the kid about and therefore when people ask me Tom can you help me with ourselves he will do the can't won't do it I'm a top up to 40 percent and I think that's what really changed it and this year 29000 of it over the teen 100 different charities benefited and that's the number I'm most proud of and so you obviously thought it was a brand worth saving there because it gets you know you could have you because you sort of want to you could have started out your own charity but you feel that killed what was something you could see you could rescue from from some of the controversies that been through in the past I mean I think people get it. You go for a walk it's very simple so it's an it's in a good place to know the anything else in a brilliant place I mean over 25000 walkers and 21000 over 1300 different charities Hale and them 7000000 trees to Scotland for the folks who need it most What's not to like about that and the idea is that you are as you were saying before in the presentation you're trying to give away money. And some people what's that some people would think is to get if you choose them well I but I mean we've been very lucky in our life you know if it was to sell out for Spurs in the sports the vision for a great deal of money and you know we've continued to make money along the way but my wife and I don't want to be the richest people in the graveyard we want to do something with that money while we're still here they want to be bored but I'm but giving away money is but Oh you funny that. Is amazing couple weeks of. His children meet the b.b.c. Here so we have the time of our laves and hopefully doing good along the way and hope easy or difficult is at the moment if you're charting a walk or any other charity yet you know when people are kind of having to perhaps tighten their belts a wee bit. Is that other more charities competing for less money is a bit is it more tricky these days to restart the money than it was in the past I think it's all was there for court and you've got to have a message where people see yeah I get there so I understand the message and I think what makes kilt what different as what is the lowest cost we if you're a small charity you can't afford money to raise money so we're making it so easy for you and then whatever you release or whatever you believe said we're going to top up before to proceed. I don't know if that happens anybody else know what old but I'm so proud to see it's happening here in Scotland does the Scottish business Minister Tom Hunter thanks very much sir. For minutes to 9 and for decades no we've been Promised Jetpacks but more often than not it seems science fiction's flights of fancy feel to materialize when the brave new world dawns 19 Eighty-Four didn't exactly live done to George Orwell's vision so how does the human know measured up to the picture painted by Fred Lee Scott in Blade Runner which was set in November 29th teen the constant rain might be just about right but where are the flying cars if journalist Mikael Ross is on the line are they just turn the corner Mikkel. Would morning yes actually they might be happening sooner than many people expect although I must say that. These type of vehicles going mainstream. My They can be longer and where will they appear 1st well we're possibly going to a limited experiment. In cities lied to by there are other tests being slaughtered in. Melbourne in Australia but those are going to be tests for the time be some of the players in this industry they say they are aiming for 2023. 420-2500 was the technology then was the breakthrough in technology that soloing them to happen rather than 10 years ago. Well it's a lot to do with the batteries. Because most of well actually pretty much all of these very calls us electrical. Power So these are targeted but it acknowledges certainly player all here. And well there's other or there are elements here like materials. And also I think there's. A number of other well particularly particularly surface if it is going to be absolutely vital isn't it proving that some is going to be safe to have buzzing about. Yes there certainly some think it's still not very clear how it's going to work because. There's going to be also some are some legal aid regulators will have to go to to have a say here but I think for the time being it's going to be limited in scope and scale so we're going to have a progressive rollout over the next decade obviously looking forward to kill Ross thanks very much and that's it from us here Stephen thank you very much have a good weekend whatever you're up to including shopping perhaps it's Black Friday today after all the build up the biggest shopping day of the year but it comes as retail on the High Street continues to struggle Jenna's neighbor moving out after almost 200 years so will you be spending this Black Friday we need to eat 59295 double 0 to talk radio f.m. Medium wave and b.b.c. Sound b.b.c. Radio. Before It Starts up to the b.b.c. Radio Scotland use it May the clock with Angela Carr and election leaders' debate on climate change has been overshadowed by the absence of Boris Johnson the conservatives have made an official complaint after Channel 4 refused to let Michael Gove take his place and put an ice sculpture in Mr Johnson sport instead the same happened for the bricks at parties Nigel Farage who also declined to appear Claudia Beamish from Scottish Labor thinks the debate was still a success I did it was overshadowed by by any means I think it was very coherent and interesting to wait and I'm completely supportive of what Channel 4 did I think if Boris Johnson and whoever the BRICs it Party leaders which I can't remember actually were no shows that it was quite appropriate to it wasn't just a block of ice it was a it was a very well carved melting ice block which was extremely symbolic. A mum who believes her daughter died from an infection linked to the water supply at Glasgow's Queen Elizabeth University Hospital says she can't understand why action wasn't taken as soon as concerns were raised if America warnings about the risk of contamination were issued just days after the state opens according to a leaked report from 2015 highlighted by whistleblowers 10 year old Millie mean died after treatment for Leukaemia in August 27th we've been speaking to her mum Camberley Derek a 2nd believer I can't believe that these reports existed and nothing had been done about them going back to 2015. And nothing had been done to remedy these problems with the water I don't know how they've got over us not fixing the problems through the years that just don't understand that and it has Greater Glasgow in Clayton says the hospital campus has a safe and a fact of water supply and that it's a very sorry for the ongoing distress caused to families almost a quarter of a 1000000 people are now living with cancer in Scotland charity Macmillan says the number is up an estimated 15 percent from 4 years ago as urging the Scottish government to publish a Philly funded workforce plan that sets out how staffing levels will be increased minister say staffing as at historically high levels unplanned improvements will help ensure the right people are in place for and a half 1000 jobs could be at risk of the energy supplier and power of a union say they're concerned after the firm announced plans to restructure calling it a cruel blow for workers I mean a Warhurst from the B.B.C.'s business unit has more details we knew that things weren't looking good for and power so far this year they've lost nearly 450000 customers and yesterday their current owner had to radically reduce their profit forecast this morning then on issued a statement about restructuring describing the u.k. Market as particularly challenging and saying all NASA.
