It's worst ever before 1000000 people waiting for operations there are all the vacancies that have not been filled within the n.h.s. The Health and Social Care Act allows the privatisation of services and indeed we have the nonsense of our National Health Service being taken to court by private operators because they didn't get contracts from it let's end the privatisation within the I thank you thank you very much thank you we are investing as a specific item size Asian crime little bit like the Thais in the n.h.s. Nor do we have any sort of course we are investing 35 nor will the n.h.s. Just let me repeat this point nor will the n.h.s. Be ever up for sale in any negotiated me repeat that point thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you we'll continue to fund the n.h.s. Massively as we are we can only do so because we have a strong dynamic economy the plan also and he would have the royal family trust in leadership and the future of Scotland is a snap You Gov poll suggested the public were evenly split over who won the debate the s.n.p. Liberal Democrats didn't take part in after losing a legal challenge the leader of the Lib Dems is Joe Swinson I think people at home will be forgiven for thinking surely we just are better than this it was a huge gap in that debate both of them want breaks that and yet the voice of remain wasn't there there is a brighter future that is possible but it's not on offer from either of those targeted parties more on this now from our political editor Laura Coons But Jeremy Corbyn came here as the underdog who really had to try to make a big breakthrough to change the dynamic of the campaign I'm not sure that he managed to do that and in reverse the prime minister came here Boris Johnson hoping above all else not to make a big big mistake and he also didn't really do that either so that means perhaps in and of itself the 60 minutes of attacks and clash. And jokes at each other's expense won't have changed very much at the fundamentals of this election what was though very striking to me is that repeatedly the audience showed they were willing and ready to laugh at both of the candidates a taste perhaps that for many people around the country this election is maybe not a choice that they are looking at very enthusiastically and for some of them it might not be a popularity contest but one of finding the least worst option the during the debate the Conservative Party press office rebranded its Twitter account to look like an election fact checking service this is all media site says any further attempts to mislead people will lead to decisive corrective action the conservatives have defended the tactic the Liberal Democrats publish their election manifesto later will promise an extra $10000000000.00 pounds a year for schools in England and to recruit $20000.00 more teachers if they form a government they say staying in the year will help to pay for their plans 25 stowaways have been found in a refrigerated container on a ferry traveling to the county they were discovered by the crew on the ship returned to port near Rotterdam was on its way to Felixstowe 2 of them have been taken to hospital the rest were transferred to a police facility comes just weeks after 39 people were found dead in a freezer lorry in Essex a teenager has been stand today in east London police were called to reports of a fight is around $1020.00 last night in a block of flats in Milford and on tin year old man was pronounced dead at the scene no one's been arrested it's not more than 4000000 adults nearly 10 percent of England's population to go without dental care analysis of official n.h.s. Figures says people are being turned away or being put off by the cost of being stuck in a waiting list and the Crown which is vice chairman of the British Dental Association I think it's absolutely shocking really you know we are a professional want to look after the patients. Patients are a mainstay of business and you know in a civilized country the fact of one in 10 of the population call access n.h.s. Service is just beyond belief really it's a perfect storm really patients charges are a deterrent for people to go it's been very difficult for my colleagues up and down the country to recruit dentists into the profession to work in the n.h.s. We've got really a situation where funding for n.h.s. Dentist very well in fact it's not risen for 10 years in real terms and that's probably the only part of the n.h.s. Where the has happened and his bosses say they're actively working with local areas to address the problems in some parts of the country less than 10 percent of homes are affordable to small families on helping benefits that's according to a new analysis 6 homeless charities want the next government to commit to restoring payments to cover the cheapest rental properties John Sparks is the chief exec of crisis we're saying commit to a massive increase in building of social houses invest properly in housing benefit make sure there's a mechanism that links it to the cost of housing and also invest in homelessness services services that can prevent homelessness it doesn't just make human sense if we made that link to the cost of the bottom 3rd of the housing market over the next 3 years 6000 families would be prevented from becoming homeless $35000.00 children would be lifted out of poverty financially it would make a return to the public it's less expensive to house people properly and give them proper benefits but it is to put people in expensive an unsuitable temporary accommodation. Sport thank you very much jerks. Then of the way or says the weather now good morning to you all today will be a mania dry they across the u.k. With variable cloud also some spells of sunshine our west the cloud impacts your rain world sense affect parts of Northern Ireland but mainly towards the southwest corner of the country particularly Cornwall which will be pretty wet all day especially in the morning giving rise to tricky driving conditions on some of the roads it'll be a breezy day for all particularly further west there is a small chance of an isolated shower affecting the east coast the u.k. Through today but it should tend to be drier through central northern and eastern parts of the u.k. Temperatures will range from $6.00 to $11.00 degrees it's a little bit milder across the south and southwest Thursday's a similar day perhaps a bit more cloud around particular across the southern half of the u.k. The best of sunshine across the north outbreaks of rain that will tend to move northwards across parts of northern England North Wales and then into central southern Scotland and then into the afternoon we should see some sunshine developing across England and Wales but we'll see a cluster of heavy showers running into the southwest of England Wales and parts of the Midlands too slightly less cold across the u.k. With highs of $8.00 to $11.00 degrees Friday perhaps a bit drier across the board with sunny spells unbearable cloud but it will be breezy or even windy especially central and western parts where a few showers will continue temperatures range from $9.00 to $12.00 degrees and it sounds milder into the weekend but with low pressure always nearby will sense remain pretty unsettled with stronger winds and rain at times but also some sunshine to the show latest 5 live whether I'm stuffed in a us wake up to money on the way in with Danny for a quick look at this morning's newspaper front pages this morning it never happens many going where the leaders debate the Guardian's Jeremy Corbyn successfully attacked Boris Johnson over the n.h.s. The morning we've had the 1st leaders' debate of the election so would you put them on your Christmas list what I would probably leave out of the tree for here would be a Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens Jeremy Colvin all Boris Johnson went over the mines of business after a debate focusing on brakes if the n.h.s. And spending will be speaking to a couple of buses to find out and it was known as the bank that like just say yes but then then both of t.s.b. Told us it was in big trouble after an i.t. Drop in profits yesterday at Easyjet. Money. And as ever we want your take on last night's leaders' debate did the 2 men say anything about the economy that made you sit up and take note Oh if you did manage to stay up for round 2 of the political debates did any of the other parties get your attention and no debate is complete without real time social media commentary and Twitter became a story itself last night after the conservatives change the name of one of their accounts and as ever there was plenty of drinking games going on as people knocked back a tipple whenever a key phrase was repeated but seeing it was a school night and wondering how many of those will have been alcohol free because this seems to be a growing thing and same prison reckons it will see the sale of no alcohol or low alcohol spirits rise by a whopping 30 percent in pre-Christian astray doing so with the Christmas office season Apollo's Christmas party season even Christmas of the season it could. Have a Christmas elf this could be interesting let us know if this is a weekend that you've jumped on so you into no alcohol low alcohol will be here it's now alcohol we don't drink as a rule or wake in this film just Friday night Saturday night Sunday lunchtime that's it and do you get up in the morning straight as you become older trying to sleep after you've had a drink becomes increasingly difficult and do you do you look now for like a log or that is no out now I'll never touch them they're rubbish I don't. You're better off having a soft drink which you know what you're getting by sickly I've never had a not low alcohol or nonalcoholic drink that actually tasted very pleasant. They are changing and I'm not I'm sure it's made us not mad but I found a couple of beers that I quite like through the week which in no alcohol we want to hear from you this morning 850580 using the hash tag wake up to money on social media also with us this morning is Michael Carey investment director at Fidelity international morning Michael good morning you were saying that you were looking around when you were pregnant in there wasn't a lot of choice that's right so if you kind of look at the law. There's not a lot of choice and I agree with Mickey they do ties pretty rubbish so you are probably better off having a beautifully the 1st one I think is called public and when you taste it I see like drinking bubble gum here it's all full trying I'm sure it's improved now but it was horrible in those docs quite chemical ties thing. Well they've certainly moved on and it is now big business do get in touch this morning and also of course everybody is talking about it seems last night leaders' debate on i.t.v. Boris Johnson says Labor's Jeremy Corbin lots of key phrases and sound bites Did you notice how many times of unready breaks it was was discussed McKee Yeah I think I want to but. It was certain phrases just get and get repeat these are they were in the loop and we had Jeremy Corbyn saying it's real change real hope on after Labor government for the many not the few Here's how Mr Johnson kicked off when there's only one reason why we're having this election that is that we have a deadlocked parliament that will not deliver bricks and whether you voted for leave or remain people want to get bricks done and to unleash the potential of this entire country meanwhile Jeremy Corbin attacked Boris Johnson for failing the people and the economy Labor is offering real change and real hope we will build a fairer Britain that cares for all where wealth and power are shared the conservative government is failing it's failed on the economy on the climate crisis the National Health Service and on bricks it. One of the key things which has been picked up by a lot of the news websites and a lot of commentators was the amount of law thing from the audience but did that surprise you no not really I think people are sick to death of politics that they get so much publicity and spotlight and never really get that but I just don't come up with the goods and you know we kept hearing a lot of plain just for the good for the country yes but no way of describing the the you know the the financing of it and look to elections for the past half century now I would do the same but it seems to be game worse now we're going to do this we're going to do that where you can apply for it now and seasoning if you think that the quick fire format works Mica. I think they got too little points in in that spice really and didn't it wasn't quite quick fire was the kind of the to the end about the role family and Andrew and Christmas trees I mean there was obviously a shortage of time on there that to me seemed just a complete waste of time and but it was the story that everybody of course was talking about yesterday certainly in terms of where both men stood Christmas troublous on the royal family and it was interesting it was Christmas present wasn't it what would you give us other. Well I suppose it was to try and personalize both men Jeremy Corbett I think came off better that because he actually had a Christmas present idea that wasn't political and Boris Johnson just brought it back to bricks it there was a lot of focus on tax and pay how those things playing in the city Mike or if you look at the pond the pond is strengthened quite significantly because Johnson is leading in the polls I think this is a question of the lesser of 2 evils in their lot of concerns around Corbin's kind of rising taxes rising spending nationalized and that may. This is really new this and there's a lot in the pipe is a small light this plans for business and the like they are and I think in the debate last night very little of that came across there was very little meat in there around business kind of clear answers a round the whole nationalize I should bite how intends to do this what the repercussions are I think what we know about Johnson is that he's very clear about breaks it in the ham is on about breaks it Coburn is very viable on breaks it and that's kind of nothing new really we're going to have plenty more time to hear from both men because there are an awful lot more debates to come and we're going to be talking about this a lot more later in the program we're going to shift focus now because the lovely Rico Rico Rico the line you. Are making. This is going to be like that you ready for got my name I did well I was staying up late as today that's what it was some time we want to show you 3 yesterday 3 card support the political debate well you know what it does inform the discussion this morning and it be really interesting to see what business leaders have to say about it but for many businesses in Asia Rico Hong Kong the process they are absolutely will focusing minds that's right there's been a violent standoff between demonstrators and police at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University and this morning Danny and Mickey a few dozen pro-democracy the protesters have remained holed up inside the besieged Hong Kong University for a 4th day but over the past few days you've had hundreds of protesters inside that university but now you know all this all this turmoil this rippling overseas you have the United Nations calling for a peaceful resolution to the sea. Age while the United States earlier today passed new they just leash on supporting protesters demands that it's interesting you know that there's talk of a split in this country over breaks it. Those that want breaks and those that want to remind. You know it could last generations but it's nothing compared to what's going on in Hong Kong I mean you have a split there had been so much better in damaging to the economy and is a lot is a reminder generations is. Indeed Mickey market and investor sentiment has been beaten down over the last 6 months these protests continue to roil the city and its economy tourism has blown it did and Hong Kong has entered a recession in the 3rd quarter and also adding to the fuel because of this this bill that was passed by the u.s. House of Representatives it has drawn the fire from China and China has said it's rated just a few hours earlier that they will impose unspecified retaliation if this bill became law and basically urging the United States of stop meddling in Hong Kong's affairs Ok Rico as I have a lovely to talk to you we missed you Thank you Danny thanks making back tomorrow Cheers raker have a good diet cats are legs a lot in the markets and one of the ones that I was talking to the boss of Easyjet yesterday obviously profits down but then the big news yesterday was this promise to become net 0. Yeah an interesting one because you know Ryanair at the moment is sign that it's the most efficient Adeline in terms of the environment in Europe that stats been challenged by him in for many quarters now easy g.s. And the same thing a Mike I mean. Turbulent times for airline companies particularly in the in the budget airline industry I mean profits yesterday Dan was it 26 percent still making profits it's still a good company but it's not getting on things always only like it used to is it not there's been a lot of pressure on these companies because of rising costs because of the patients around breaks that overcapacity but because we've seen a few plies leave the market I think that puts Easyjet and a very good position and they did say the kind of big news yesterday was that they were going to move into the package holiday business the kind of hole left by Thomas Cook and it has a go at me for well there if that's they've been able to make middle that it because you can book all of those 3 Easyjet but it's only a small slice of the kind of 20000000 passengers that use that so they've got about 500000 of those customers but booking holidays that's that's 15000000 that they can still type into and what do you make of these is that you know Danny says that they want to be the world's 1st major net 0 carbon airline by offsetting carbon emissions such is not quite the same as being clean is exactly and we've got all the airlines jumping onto this debate it's obviously very news with this obviously a lot of pressure because of extinction rebellion in the whole climate change to bite but the question really is easy Jet was very viable on how they would fund the scheme you know how they would actually measure all of this and we've got the likes of as you mentioned Ryanair and Emirates all way into this device will be interesting to see really leads the pack on this front and straight out and record high Yes it does in the day down 100 so on 0.4 percent at 27934 is there the enthusiasm among investors at the moment for Wall Street and what's going on very interesting so we've had seen. Weeks of consecutive stock market rises and what we've seen is this kind of cocktail of positives Wang on the market one thing the key thing of course is the try to engines between the u.s. And China easing but we've also had falling interest rights we've had better than expected company results and a veteran jobs market so actually it looks like 200-9000 despondent feeling that way is going to be one of the best years for stock markets since the financial crisis less outside and liquid but on restaurants change stories doing the rounds today you've got Jamie Oliver explained in these Empire elsewhere having closed a lot of pressure in the u.k. And you've got the downgrade in place for expressions right in Bond movie credit rating agency we talk a lot about what's going on now in straight we talk about stores but the restaurants are having a tough time on this one on one but on the suffering from the same kind of high reined business rights stuff costs that it's kind of wide on the high street but we've also seen in the spice private equity really wide into the casual dining spice and they feel the expansion we saw numerous names I mean a dime a dozen coming to market and that led to an i.v. Set you're right at market at a time when people are actually staying at hime ordering by a delivery or just eat preparing to dine at hime and that put pressure on lots of companies not just Jamie Oliver's Brant companies like Byron burger which is usually popular giraffe a whole says you know spite of those have closed. Ok market to relax for a little while have Glasgow now like why not mighty sort of their own ground for the strong stuff Fair enough market carry there from for the lots of people getting in touch about Gnome alcoholic options Mickey Richard in Whitby says Tell Ebony's a Makita. There is some good now Kobe is out there they managed to quench the craving for hops tasting liquid doing go sober for October help to remove the need for alcohol during the week yes and also entering already shortchanged us really. Ok keep the fluid levels up and. You know one problem pounds and pounds and you have it too strong it's so much more human or so everybody Toni Morrison says I buy low alcohol beer from the supermarket but not the fruity ones I go to the pub to socialise and drink Shandy Also I drink 0 log in Spain because it tastes the same. Great. Place to host a little. Body like me in the same. Age Sheffield United boss is Manchester United and. I guess you can also be. Kept. In. The morning lots of debate over who won last night's head to head between Jericho bin and Boris Johnson you've been getting in touch with how to tweet from daily business groups saying no clear winner in Johnson and Corbin head to head Eddie says latest debate where the policy is to solve the housing crisis and to stop rough sleeping or do the disadvantaged not count in this election and we'll said David Crowe thone get in touch you said the secondary party leadership debate was far more insightful We've also been hearing from him this morning about changing drinking habits interesting story in The Financial Times this morning about the growth of non alcohol and alcohol free spirits James and Alston says I've drunk the same brand real Al since at 14 when my father introduced it to me over a game of snake in a club in Felixstowe but when I was diagnosed a celiac I swap to Suffolk side now the circles been squared as the Suffolk breweries released to not point 5 to sell alcohol beers which in my view have all the taste of the past but Stacey in London says as an el Abed Rinker not a lot of fun I also used to share Mickey's sentiments. But alcohol free beers are so much better now and there is a great variety of the bull Also with us this morning is Michael Curry investment director fidelity international morning Mike. I know everybody stayed up late in order to watch the debate did you enjoy it Michael. Now that is a question I I didn't joy that much because I didn't come away knowing anything more. About the candidates I think we're very clear on Corbin what he stands for what he's about but we're not clear on breaks it and then on the other hand we've got Johnson really very clear on breaks that we probably say that we're quite a few times but we don't know bodies other policies what else does he stand for beyond breaks it what has he got planned for the country what is he's vision as a leader so I didn't come away very impressed by either well let's have a quick run through of some of the key points that were made. They went head to head the 1st leadership debate in this election Mr Johnson promised to end this national misery and said Labor offered only division and deadlock another buzz phrase McKay There were a lot of those minor and also mystical been said that Labor would get bricks it's salted by giving you the people the final say the pair also locked horns over the n.h.s. The future of Scotland and the royal family with an early round breaking out of the Labor claims that us health firms will be given access to the n.h.s. In a post Rex a trade deal and I wonder with the mystical because I tell us are you going to campaign for leave all remember I want to bring people to go there for. Work which was made by the British people and our government will abide by that decision when you say you'll get it done. Really Mr Johnson you are going to embark on probably 7 years of negotiations with the United States on a trade deal you've already indicated that you will allow our National Health Service to be put at risk by a trade deal with the United States you've already indicated that you would do a calendar styled agreement which took at least 7 years to negotiate so you're not going to get it done in a few months and you know that perfectly well. And that debate on the n.h.s. Is certainly got people talking this morning but let's find out what the reaction was from business with Katie Haywood honey farmer and found Phelan honey bees based Nick Hamlin on Anglesey and Dawn Barber runs u.k. Tights dot com which sells lingerie tights and swimwear on line morning to you both good morning Katie let me start with you how do you think about came over. Week very week. As a business owner Our lives have been on hold since we faced a no deal brag set back in March and when no clearer on where we stand we trade internationally so at great expense when we were facing a new deal I've had to separate my 2 companies at cost to me and. It was very bland and the audience reaction actually showed what the whole country in the United Kingdom a feeling at the moment just it's a joke you know there's a joke that was a lot of laughter wasn't. There was indeed yes and I couldn't agree more with with Casey I think it was very blond and I think some of the things that they were coming out with her actually quite ridiculous. I feel that. Jeremy Corbin on one hand. Is out to destroy business in many respects have a feel that he seems to resent people who have their own business in his analogy of your either a billionaire or a pole Well I'm neither of those and I'm sure Katie's ties are and the other thousands and thousands of regular people that run their own small to medium business you know that is a prosperous prosperous thing to say in my opinion and I think it is quite laughable and then you've got you know Armand Johnson the great constantly repeating himself over breasts. I mean that was quite ridiculous and totally unnecessary it was supposed to be a debate you know grow all the Parian I say leaving aside breaks it for one second by watching that program last night do you have any idea about how you're going to be taxed and the profits and what's going to be spent and I've Are you confident of taking more people on in their chops a little bit not no we're not I mean we have been in a paralyzed situation now because like Katie we are an international business we buy in an awful lot of our products from the e.u. So I mean I voted to remain for that reason but we have been completely paralyzed for the past 3 years as have you know people spending people don't know what's going to happen they don't are going to lose their job next week or what have you so I just think that. Something needs to be done we need to get on with the and that's possibly why I would lean more towards Mr. Johnson and I would Mr Corbett because I do feel he is out to Truckee speak further and it's been a lot of spending promises from both men and fact the i.t.v. Presenter Juliet in pointed out that both have proposed extraordinary levels of borrowing despite former prime minister to resign May's promise that was no magic money tree was pretty strict for school discipline and yes of course we're investing now in the n.h.s. And we're investing in our policing and investing in education because we have the fiscal headroom to do so we're also going to do fantastic things for this country with infrastructure with uniting the whole country with with better high speed rail with telecommunications Boris Johnson there but Jeremy Corbyn attacked Tory cuts and vowed to plough momentum into public spending the reality of a stir to his brain to hit the. Funds of local authorities has meant the life chances of children have been damaged by underfunding schools head teachers going out collecting money in order to keep a school going young people with no after school clubs no use center to go to and the levels of dislocation and poverty in so many areas of Britain deliberately because of a sterile must and will change yes Ok What invest in education thank you very much . Katie is a business owner a deal like the idea of so much money being poured into public spending. It just it just seems a bit Frank named I was at an awards yesterday and it was quite inspirational because a guy that won a social enterprise. He's actually been living on the streets for 3 years and from from the phone box where he was sleeping he actually planned his own business to help children refocus in the martial arts Now that's inspiration but why was he there in the 1st place an amazing entrepreneur like that living on the straits. We've had 10 years of austerity nearly 11 so all the suffering our country's been through Where's all this money magically coming from. Because all of the grants small businesses get from the air so nobody will to Hallo's exactly what they're going to jail for business and it's actually quite frankly it seems like empty words. Just so much juju feel that if I show you these money trees somebody is going to drop into your lap I mean many of your preoccupy you know preconceptions changed it's all a result of that national and they're not all off I think a lot of it was rubbish to be honest so here. I don't know where they're going to get money from. I'm a bit disappointed in the fact that again you know Mr Johnson's done a bit of a u. Turn with the corporation tax the corporation tax absolutely cripples those every single year you know you're taxed on your profits and you're taxed even on your stock the same stock that you're taxed on the $84.00 you know constantly paying higher rates of tax and as a business owner you just well I don't know you just pouring good money after bad and I just feel that where they're going to get this money from I'm not too sure I don't believe we should go into massive debt and do massive amounts of borrowing a do you believe this should help people who are homeless Absolutely and the poor people of this world but how they're going to do that I'm not so sure Ok Look thank you so much for joining us this morning Katie Haywood honey farmer and found a felon honey bees and Dawn barber who runs u.k. Tights dot com I dare say there's going to be a lot more discussion about that leaders' debate and all the other debates coming up over the next few weeks a huge story which dominated headlines last year of course was that the meltdown from ts Bay and what we've been hearing these allegations that bosses at t.s.p. Lacked common sense during that period it caused a lot millions of people out of their accounts and that is the verdict of an independent report into the fiasco at the time almost $2000000.00 customers were. Able to bank online some for several weeks someone also targeted by fraudsters other results like Lindsay Wade from Dumfries and Galloway I thought how much shopping at Tesco and I arrived at the checkout tried to pay back. The card was rejected then I went outside to the cash point and put my card in and saw that all the money disappeared so I had to go back into the Tesco store and I was shopping I just had to be put back on the shelf that I rushed. Asked my husband to look on the Internet and we saw about all our money from that because we have a joint current account all that is gone and also some of our savings Lindsey and I have the most around 10000 pounds since been refunded but only got 7 pounds in compensation after being with the bank 28 she's now thinking of leaving now 5 I've caught up with them boss Paul pester just 3 days after the news broke he told us the bank had been caught when t.s.b. Is through this issue you know we are on our knees we will get up pretty brutal a bit more of that later on but Johnny is now fully organ and independent banking writer morning Philip Giraldi just run us through some of the findings. It's an extraordinary report it's a really salutary lesson for all bank management and backboards a medic searching that hindsight's a wonderful thing and accepting that since he was trying to do really complex thing in losing all its customers onto a new banking platform this report is absolutely excoriating it speaks of bad management it speaks of bad governance it speaks of a biased optimism a very dangerous bias to optimism all of which had absolutely wretched consequences as we've just heard for a significant number of t.s.p. Customers and Ts B.'s response is acceptable. To me as well t.s.b. Emerges when any credit at all which frankly it doesn't it's for commissioning this report when I heard the independent report was being commissioned I assume that it's going to be a whitewash this isn't a whitewash at all this lays it all the difficult relationship between t.s.p. And his parent Thanks. So government issues where effectively you have the same guy acting as the t.s.p. Customer and its chief information officer as as and the same guy who was the fact of the running the supplier a subsidiary of the Spanish bank just a just a horrible mess but it was a very complex complex thing to do no other u.k. Bank had tried to do anything 7 bishops timetable wasn't vicious it went wrong for bad loans were missed just absolute mess Phillip t.s.p. Knew they had to get and use a computer system when it was part of Lloyds I mean when I say that they lack common sense. Well they're there they're justified is and how much. It's hard to look you will support this this lays it out early line by line issue issue by issue there are many opportunities to have still to have stopped the process to put all 4 times a full mitigating factor is that it would appear from the report that the t.s.b. Board were fully briefed on the situation by the study subsidiary running it which for that illustrates the difficult it is the u.k. Plants run by overseas operations that serve as a complicated chain of command but lots of opportunity Congress has questions not always Aust. Rhetoric consequences so customs will talk a bit more about that relationship but 1st wake up to money Sean Farrington caught up with them both t.s.b. Paul pester 3 days after news of the issues broke were about putting things right you remember that t.s.b. Is owned by somebody else Spanish bank and they've been providing our i.t. Infrastructure up until now so I spoke to the chairman of somebody yesterday evening and we agreed that I would take control of our infrastructure from 8 o'clock this morning I am drafting in a team of global experts from i.b.m. Great so work directly for me in our offices in Bristol and of course across the u.k. We will get to the bottom of these issues are not willing to accept this sort of service to t.s.p. Customers and I've taken control so can you explain to customers then just so they get an understanding of why the messaging was so unclear why you you said the chief executive of t.s.b. Said it was up and running not with any caveats you said it's up and running and why your own like and we had 7 Dell say on Monday your owners it is successfully completed the t.s.b. Technology migration obviously had been so it can you just explain why that happened why were you telling customers it was fine when it wasn't all I can do is tell customers what my id provider. Tells me if they tell me is working now what is clear is that's not the case so I have taken control we're putting things right for our customers when the team of global experts arrive and there are an 8 o'clock in Bristol this morning they with me working directly for me to start getting to the bottom of exactly why we're having issues providing the service we should be able to provide to our customers is unacceptable in a statement pull pesty yesterday said that he had been left in the dark by the i.t. Great service over the testing. Do you think that he should have had more information. The report does make it clear that this subsidiary of Subbuteo running the operation was less than frank in reports into the t.s.b. Court but the problem just made in this clip the need to have independent expert advice from outside the group that should have happened before the report makes this very clear something of this magnitude something which has got tensional to willing root in the bones reputation needs to be double tested triple tested and not a biased dropped innocent but the assumption that things will go wrong having proper mitigation strategies in place causing in independent outside experts not connected to t. As not connected to the Spanish but someone who can take an overall look at this and say look this is this is high risk they're missing deadlines they've never done anything like of that magnitude before and this is just slow it down let's get the testing working properly going to be I mean have all of the issues been resolved and should this be a salutary lesson to all banks that if you're going to go down the route of closing branches and dragging your customers along the technology road you've got to get it right that is absolutely spot on every single director every poor member every senior executive at every u.k. Bank will be meeting this report very carefully over the next few weeks because all of the balance have complex i.t. Systems which need to be updated and modernized and Central is for the digital age all of the banks will be facing migrations perhaps not of this magnitude but big i.t. Issues they'll be reading it very carefully but we're trying to learn the lessons from it and a voice in the states that yes the and particularly its parent Subbuteo made. Ok thank you very much indeed Philip nice talking to you Philip or that. We obviously have been keeping a really close eye on this t.s.b. Story and it's been incredible to see this report and I know a lot of news websites are looking at this this morning I'm sorry for i t meltdown is in the Daily Mail lot of other business stories making headlines as well making Yeah just to speak tends to dominate but it's not the only one you mentioned early on Twitter and g c h Q Yes Conservative Party. You might be better explained in the money. Well the c.c.h. Cues Twitter name changed last night to fact check u.k. During the debate and there were a lot of people who were incredibly angry about this because they said that it was misleading and of course Twitter have been very clear that in terms of politics in elections they don't want that site to be used in any way that is misinforming or misleading to the public and this election certainly seems to be being fought very much on social media I don't know if you've sort of cool any of the Facebook posts or the little videos that been put together not. Why am I not surprised make a why am I not surprised anyway they've now obviously changed the name back but it was quite interesting because there were lots of other sites that will breed branding themselves last night including Charlie Brooker So just keep an eye on those different accounts when you are watching. Them double check because of course full facts said it was inappropriate misleading for the conservative press office to rename that Twitter account to fact check u.k. During this debate don't mistake it for an independent fact checking this asked him out in new Bond film coming out of course everybody very excited about that Will that help Aston Martin because this is been described as a make or break week by the Financial Mail for next guest and the palm he's the boss of Aston Martin which today launches its 1st ever s u v The car companies seen its share price fall from $1.00 pound 70 to below 50 pence since it floated just over a year ago the vehicles being made at the new factory it sent Athan in Wales but hopes are high because it does feature in that double 07 film morning Andy how are you. Good morning car Good morning from China yes thank you very much indeed for joining us it's interesting that you are in China because of course that is a huge market for Aston Martin but where does the future of sales for your company lie. The strategy that we're running through is looking this up for failure of cost and if you want grants than astronauts in being historically if you want to a $1.00 trick pony with the with the g.t. Cause we're looking to expand the portfolio so far we've we've launched 3 cars deep 11 vantage and g.p.s. And today we've done 1st s u v d b x and clearly s.u.v. Most popular Body Type of all cause around the world and I'm very clearly in China because this is the largest market in the world so very very very important ones for us no doubt but it's not an electric company and clearly the electric issue is a huge one full and that is we've had the green policy manifesto yesterday and saying that they would get the u.k. Company neutral by 20 things he said was this a mess. No I don't think so I think clearly around the world as we stand today there's no doubt the Evey's are important but they're still very much in them and in the minority of engine types I'm a huge advocates all of these and I and I lead the the next time leaf project when I was working about companies so great advocates of the these but we have to recognize that the it's the world over night is not going to switch to even ease and with a look at some long term predictions 2030 perhaps 40 percent of the fleet will be free but the rest of the fleet will be will be gasoline hybrids and so will I think will if not all the sales in electric at the moment right now nothing we don't have an electric car no nor does any other luxury manufacturer Why is that. Well look where we are we're right at the cusp and as I said basically the volume of electric cars is to date relatively small so if you look around the world on a very represents less than 2 percent of sales so you know we have to think about the economic viability undoubtedly Evie will become important and our 1st electric car will come next year with the raw p.d. So it's not that we're not working on it we are working on it and we're introducing as a site next year and in our longer term plan our 6 car and 7 car which will be branded logo on those the logo on the brand will be 100 percent even the I was going to tie 6 figures from that Chicago I mean I don't see the point if you produce an issue very You're no different to any other com I can add here with a high luxury Well look there's a very clearly a luxury s.u.v. Markets are I don't need to tell you who's who who plays in it but but basically you know look look to Neverland Lamborghini and clearly it's vital that Aston plays in that market and pleased to say that we get to market ahead of Ferrari which is which is a very important milestone we've got to talk about brakes that we have the leaders debate last night where you stand on it because of this you're building this new car while. We are yes we are opening a new factory and creating over $600.00 new jobs in South Wales so it's very important for the economy of South Wales are obviously very important for the company Brix it of course we stand very clearly neutral on the issue in terms of leave leave versus remain I think I would it would be fair to say that we would prefer if we're leaving we would prefer to have a deal that's that's very clear that's very important for the current history in general and I think like like all of the manufacturers in the u.k. Certain see is becoming an issue chorus is an issue for us so the sooner we know what we've got to deal with very clearly the better Ok and the perma c.e.o. Of Aston Martin I'm afraid we have to leave it there thanks very much for your company this morning lots of people getting in touch about no alcohol of low alcohol beers rame Bristol says I'm with make a 0 alcohol b. Is violent gassy a culture attorney says non alcoholic ginger beer is nice so that you can enjoy behind yeah thanks very much for your company thanks for your comments about those leadership and debates that is it from Wake up to money it isn't just picking up and.
