He's definitely in for it well Jafo has sat in the friendliest taxi driver investor among the Birkie in Scotland Rob in all based on his black man Rob Blackman and Kevin Madden who's in Eastern the whole getting this correct she was a great influence and she gave me a lot of love I was very close to her in that clip there is talking about his mother and the influence she had on his life in his lifetime he's found his own charity organization he studied at Oxford as I mentioned studied people Kimball College in Oxford he's also now an honorary fellow of that college he's published 6 works of nonfiction including an autobiography in 20082004 he was awarded a lifetime achievement award at the Asian jewel awards in the 1990 S. He served as UNICEF special representative for sports and also promoted health and immunization programs in Bangladesh Pakistan true Lanka and Thailand has been married 3 times including a marriage to Jim I'm a goldsmith who still has a property as far as we know in Oxfordshire So that's another connection another link he's just of course so fairly recently been voted in as prime minister of Pakistan he was 1 point one of the greatest cricketers of all time ever. He retired from cricket in 1902 as one of the world's And indeed one of Pakistan's most successful players he was a great influence and she gave me a lot of love I was very close to the not too difficult I think it was a moran card Imran Khan and as I mentioned earlier playing in that charity cricket match to Branson is placing Killington I think was the ninety's we were playing we were from the B.B.C. We were playing people from record companies charity cricket match Richard Branson very kindly lent letting us play at his place in Killington because he has an cricket pitch there in the back garden and. Came walking around the boundary at some point in fact I was actually batting at the time and of course the whole field said Come on him and come on have a ball Fortunately he said no he'd leave it to us got it really fancy facing a ball or 2 from a run car but he was there and it was at the point of us doing this charity cricket match but luckily he didn't fancy having a ball against me anyway thank you everybody got involved that was the ONLY for this week they also what. Is B.B.C. Radio. OK music now for greater or other this is let you love me enough that this will hear from Steven. Well as previously mentioned then in the proceedings now I am very pleased to welcome to them Steven. Welcoming an old friend back to the lovely thing All right much on by tomorrow you will do too badly thank you we're here to talk about to bouquets and brickbats before that just generally how are you did you have a good summer the summer is quite rough for me to be honest I had some very bad devastating news I was in Australia until about May to come back to London that I'm back to Australia and I came back that I embarked on Edinburgh and then I finished out and I did a 2 week job in Italy which a country took very much about but it's going to be an all screens very soon up Blair exciting appetizer I am very very excited I'm I'm not I can't stress it's a T.V. Thing a film or 2 a drama no no it's kind of a con go check that but let's just say it's pretty real OK yeah OK well. Look forward to that just coming back briefly to Ed in broad just wanted to say he did some stand up in Edinburgh but you did a chat show up there as well and you had stars on that you had sword swallowers But you loved doing their jobs you love it it's up 12 year doing an Edinburgh so this year we recorded as a talk show to go on ordinal and the 1st one was released in August and the 2nd series is coming out in about 3 weeks time and I you somebody who likes asking the questions as much as the questions I much prefer asking the questions you watch that because you hope you find a way of delving into what makes a person tick and hopefully find out more about that person than they would normally share or express in their work and I think that's quite interesting I'm sick and tired of hearing my own voice but you know how to do an interview in your great to interview because you give somebody like me a lot back it's fun doing an interview with somebody who doesn't always give a lot back that makes the job quite difficult makes your very difficult I don't think many people appreciate just how difficult it is to be a very very great interviewer I think what Graham Norton does is particularly stunning because I had an experience where I did interview somebody quite a big American comic actually his last year in Edinburgh and I was met with one word replies I opened with something like I was really great to have you on the show because you are one of the most respected comics in the world your body of work includes X. Y. Z. Add and you just talk constantly he was just amazing that the person went No I'm not. What you sat Yeah when I was out there that are there and then she actually went you know times finishing. Blimey Well listen don't go down that path Here's some of the very shortly up for you coming to the Swindon Arts Center on November the 8th that's a Thursday down the A 34 a new breed on Saturday the 17th of November choose to the 27th not far away in Chelton and then you do a couple of gigs in Maidenhead in December and then January or into January Happy New Year Stephen Fry. No not assented did come on Thursday General the 17th that in Northampton for the 18th and 19th and then just up the M 40 at the Warka center in Coventry on Saturday gender the 26 so there's no excuse absolutely in and around Oxfordshire not to go and see Stephen K. I also was all about that you know it's not that young and young of life I didn't want to do is show where I was going to be talking about the things everyone of us is talking about bricks it was something American soldier all these things that we bombard with all the time and I let you go a very good angle on it don't even go there so my whole thing at the moment is I'm looking back I'm reflecting on the last 18 months in my own life where things were great you know hence the bouquets flowers blooming everything's wonderful touring around the world all this stuff happening and then of course life throws a curve ball the brickbats in the 18 months I've lost 2 very important people in my life and maybe question everything about what is the purpose of life what is opposed to doing comedy How can I do comedy where inside I'm not feeling great I'm full of paid and grief and I thought you know what looking around the audience I know that every single one of us has a story to tell and when I do my shows I more open and talk about my paid off making them laugh study for 2 hours that oh my goodness oh no really how they've are going to share that pain and come through it and help somebody in the audience who's going through something similar or not similar then that's my job worthwhile So this is a very personal show by the sounds of it quite a difficult show then because you're mixing comedy and tragedy or yes it is actually but I never ever thought I could do this because at the beginning of the year when I was finishing the tour up in Australia that's when I had the 2nd bit of bad news and then I was the omen kids are going to do an Edinburgh worked up a new show and for the 1st 2 weeks Edinburgh I didn't even touch and it was I thought myself audiences don't want to see sadness. They want to put their trust in their faith in this man is make them laugh and then one day I was 2 in the audience and in the 1st 3 rows there was a youth theatre group and there's a young lad was 15 Another guy was 22 and we had laughed for them ever laughing had their teachers there and their youth leaders and whatever and a couple of parents and then halfway through the show I go by they just want to ask a question but on applause who here tonight is heterosexual you know obviously the whole audience applauded I said one of those who is not is homosexual The 15 year old lad and the 20 year old lad who I spoke to the begin the show both applauded and Susie Stickley which made the rescuers just go how I was out wow how much how far we've come where you young 50 year old lad in this environment feel so confident to give a round Well done you and as the pros died down the dad went I never knew. And he was just so amazingly perfect but he did it in a funny way. Yet it was done he timed it so well he obviously knew and he just gave me goosebumps and so from that day forth I thought you know what I'm going to talk about this that's going on inside me and it just gave the show a different kind of feel it was easier almost difficult than you thought to mix that kind of stuff into the comedy routine it was difficult I'll be honest for me it was difficult I found it easier now because I found a way to offset that tension because if I finished a show like that then people would leave in tears you know and I that's what I want and probably doesn't absolutely yes I the 1st my did it I dropped the bombshell in I did a few jokes and the audience reaction sometimes on the go don't say that I have to remind them guys it's not your story it's my story say no more we set up nicely bouquets and brickbats coming our way very shortly it was a pleasure Steve became my cavalry Mo nice to see you nice to see you too to have you. Here my. You're right it is just after quarter to 12 I know you missed me desperately last week I missed you as much if not even more very nice to be reunited with you talking about Bohemian Rhapsody That's the new queen biopic would do that in a moment also a little drama go which I mentioned earlier still not a sudden Johnny and lowered to great actresses Allison Janney famously in the now forgot what it was called the Ice skating film lost last July Tania Yeah I thought yeah she played the mother incredible character and she was brilliant in that Lord done so much good stuff but now the teaming up to do something together and make it a star and a new film director if the help now is called Breaking news in you can't say. It's a black comedy about a woman who comes home and finds out he spends well with another woman and he has a heart attack and she decides to bury his body and tell everyone that he's missing she then becomes a bit of a minor celebrity but her sister who is a local T.V. News reporter is on the story and he goes for that scary ride OK that this certainly sound rather dark I must admit when when when and where do we see it. Well I think they've just announced it so we probably won't see it for about a year or so but yeah like you said 2 brilliant actresses teaming up for I think what sounds like quite quite good for the film and you know if I watch Allison Janney in any city any. She best best best known for what she and she West West Wing Yeah absolutely the greatest T.V. Show ever made of course. The Coronation Street. Film actually a new film new film about John and Yoko Yes it's about John John Lennon and Yoko and he's been given the green light now it's not titled film at the moment it does have the backing of Yoko Ono and it will be about her relationship course with the be told we don't know much else but we do know it's been by directed by Sean Marks now he may not be named particularly recognizable to you but he's just made he just directed to be going to Lights which is that big show because Kidman and Reese Witherspoon in it so he's got some pedigree so hopefully in his hands this will be a really good film OK that's one that certainly interests me big Beatles fans so let us know more about that when that is imminent you have here it says here some thoughts oh yes that's the word that's written down some thoughts on the B.B.C.'s big new drama The little drama girl this is brand new as I mentioned in the T.V. Highlights Sunday night so join the Carrie spy story it's a 6 part of part one this Sunday picking up from the crime which ended last Sunday can really take to the crowd if you take to the crowd did you see the cry I didn't see that right you will know what I want you watch and catch up let me know what you think but I kind of lost interest in that so I'm looking forward to this give us your thoughts please Jenny pretty well I have seen the 1st 2 episodes and I think it is as good as if not better than the night manager and bodyguard It is incredible Florence P.V. Course from Oxford stars she plays Charlie an actress you find. In the world of espionage it just I was grabbed by it straight away it starts with a bang. Into it straight away and says she's great Michael Shannon is his moustache a fantastic Alexander sculls guards they're all just it's a great tree actually trio I cannot wait to see the 3rd episode I saw the 1st 2 episodes about 2 weeks ago and I could have to wait to see the next one on its own just been I need or want to see makes up that I need to see what's coming next it's brilliant so goes I really recommend that as your new Sunday night binge watch or Sunday Night Watch Well I think the nation is going to be hooked I read today well I'm hooked already Arcot white now because I'm looking at. That and I spy drama it's a cold war thing as you might expect from John the character set in the 19700 very late ninety's. It's more actually about Middle East than the Cold War It's about this radius of Palestinians and she kind of gets recruited by Mossad and that's where the story goes for it's good OK OK Looking forward to that part one on Sunday night B.B.C. One at 9 o'clock the little drama go now finally let's talk about Bohemian Rhapsody It's the brand new queen biopic. Of the mean I'm still. Learning along. The seemingly. No one will play is on the radio we need to get experimental. Good again. Now we will go low as to what Roger there's only room in his band for one hysterical Queen Axl stuff that is a clip from the ME I'M Rhapsody it's the Queen bio pic it's the story of the band and I'm guessing you do you like this a lot as well I did like it and though I was lucky enough I went to the big premiere at Wembley on Tuesday night and quite unlike a primary I've ever been to before to about 6000 people there everybody was so excited to see the film and see the cost and Brian May and lots of Chinese were there as well we all got caught up in it I got completely caught up on it it is it is it doesn't go it's deep leads Freddy's life is maybe some people want but I really just enjoy it if you want to go and be a really entertaining right great film that will leave you laughing and join the music then this is the film and Remy Malik who plays Freddie Mercury should be Oscar nominated he is so very very good in this film and I'm not sure if you will because it's been a little bit between about why the U.S. Critics but he really does deserve to be Oscar nominated he is brilliant Well fantastic Well I'm glad to hear that especially because it's been a lot of issues over the casting and in particular the casting of Freddie Mercury actors have come and gone so he's obviously done a great job. As you say perhaps and I've read a couple things it's not perhaps as it might be about certain aspects of the band but by a picks in the Tories The difficult to do right this this doesn't write to engage us as a viewer and to keep your attention then Jen absent a city I was already in thanks to folks who I was reading would happily watch again and again watch again a lot of high price knocking around this weekend so that's a little drama girl don't miss a highly recommended from Jenny priest and also Bohemian Rhapsody Queen by pick on releasing this weekend thank you Jan we told you the same time next week more showbiz news and gossip with Jenny precisely on this program next Saturday morning Thank you again to Jenny priestly she's back next weekend is 5 to 12 a with a song does this.
