In England we heard the boss of the n.h.s. Simon Stephen saying the other day look I need 4000000000 quid or we are running into serious difficulties that could be 5000000 people on the waiting list we're being told there will be some more money but nowhere near the amount that Simon wanted Meanwhile childcare providers here in Northampton sure are among hundreds from around the country who've signed an open letter to the chancellor nursery owners childminders and preschools are urging Philip Hammond to rethink a scheme which provides 30 hours of free childcare a week for 3 and 4 year olds they say the government funding doesn't cover the cost of providing the places making it difficult to balance the books and they claim some providers will be forced to close some evidence or. Uses Paul Harris who runs the cyber security firm succumb says should have come clean much sooner the worrying thing here really is that they didn't disclose it if you have a date's breach you are obliged to tell the regulators about that I may have form you know in January they were fined $20000.00 for failing to disclose considerably less serious breach in 2014 so they've done this before planners at the time to Bar Council of looked again at proposals for the books and fields development which would see nearly $1000.00 homes built their white tills in the Spring Park the site is actually in down tree district councils area but Northampton borough raised concerns about the plan as far back as 2011 Patrick. Cross' from the local residents' association he says although it's not on their patch Northampton councillors can voice an opinion I have no objections in principle because the whole plan is approved by the secretary of state but what is needed and we said clearly desperately we need sustainable infrastructure we need to know which roads need the Northwest relief roads and then these houses have got some way of getting their residents in and out in a less congested way less pollution tributes have been paid this morning to David Cassidy who's died at the age of 67 the actor and musician was being treated in hospital in Florida for multiple organ failure and number of celebrities are paid tribute including Brian Wilson of The Beach Boys and Harry Connick Jr Meanwhile the actor Rodney Buz just died at age 79 he was best known as Bob Ferris in the b.b.c. Mama come. Back. But. Ha. The. Gold. Gold. B.b.c. Radio Northampton Now my next guest has way too many successes to her name in my mind she's an ex Pussycat Doll she's a Celebrity Master Chef champion top dancer ex judge of top t.v. Show got to dance now judge on C.B.C.'s The next step she's Grammy nominated and as a person sold $15000000.00 albums with fans all over the world to top it off she's an all round lovely person she is Kimberly want to know Kimberly Hi there lovely to speak to you difficult to say really I would imagine which of those accolades you're most proud of professionally Oh that's a tough one I mean I grew up with the biggest dream as a dancer you could possibly have so of course finding massive success with the position that dolls performing to millions and selling millions was amazing and winning awards for Best Dance video and best dancing in a video is probably way up there but Celebrity Master Chef champion can't really beat that one you see now you live in the u.k. That's that's got to be even more of an accolade doesn't it yes living in the u.k. Married and have 2 little girls that is the accolade that's the trophy that gets put on the dining table around the holidays now as you say you started out as a dancer you were young when you got spotted I think you were dancing with the Black Eyed Peas when the person who came up with the idea of Pussycat Dolls started it all off that was when don't sing was probably just coming back into fashion over here in the u.k. Yeah it all sort of happened during an era where it was a lot of sort of hard hitting r. And b. Rap hip hop sort of stuff that would have the dancing and then proceed at dolls came on the pop scene with the best damn thing and just made a huge splash around the world. Your popularity got you onto t.v. And it got you to got to Don as a judge must have been an absolute joy looking at all these people that were doing things that you ultimately got to do it was a real dream job I feel like I have a real purpose to inspire others in my life and being able to be a judge on Got To Dance for the 5 series that it lasted it really gave me an opportunity to to give back to that next generation of dreamers and doers and help them reach for their absolute potential and I just adored it I loved being part of it and I still get to live that dream as a teacher teaching around the country with Dance Academy and I put all of my messaging in my 3 book series that sow and of course judging on C.B.C.'s taking the next step it's all about empowering others Yeah and obviously all about children as well what is the kind of main same comes from the children that you work with because we hear so much nowadays don't we about how social media is killing the youth you know there's so much pressure these days is that what kind of impression do you get from the young people that you meet Well the stats show that one in 3 women receive negative comments about their appearance online and half of those are regards to their skin so even in the stats you're seeing that the amount of negativity that we have to face and be resilient towards This is phenomenal and I see it with kids working in their everyday lives like getting them into a dance practice they're so worried about the way that they look in a photo that might be taken and and whatnot that it's hard to get them to focus on what it is that they're passionate about because they're you know forced into being this online persona and I've been working with the Baronesses in Greenfield who's a neuroscientist and doing a lot of studies on the brain and what's happening in the brain because of social media and it's a bit of an epidemic and read a tipping point where we need to fall one of 2 ways and hopefully we can be the solution rather than the problem how did you deal with it how do you deal with the ups and downs. It's been a. It's been a life's work really I almost lost my job my role as a pussycat doll because of my skin I suffered from horrendous cystic acne and then the stress of wanting to get rid of it would just cause more breakouts and you know I started changing my diet and eating eating good foods and eating lots of greens and drinking water but it still wasn't going away but it was ultimately managing my stress and creating an online portal similar to what I'm talking to you about now called beautiful movements that again brought like minded people together to be empathetic and support one another rather than create this competitive nature that I think we're almost born into it's difficult there was not because the competition is natural I mean. You know to say that you nearly lost your job just purely because of the way you looked Yeah absolutely I mean I'm kind of one end of the spectrum I mean I'm a dancer and it's sort of it goes along without saying that the way you look the way you perform is a huge part of it but being able to find the confidence and the strength and the resilience and off to to fight against that will steer your own confidence is suffering is so incredibly difficult and you do need support in that and you know I think wellness practices is of huge importance that was a huge part of what helped me feel full feel Ok in my in my own skin so you know writing in a journal essential oils and connecting with others yoga meditation there's so many things out there but it's just about encouraging young people and people and women to go out there and find them so they can find the help that they need you know whilst they're facing these types of things and we talk about social media I mean was there a point where you thought you know what I'm not going to look at anything online Yeah yeah absolutely and then I realize that it's it's a massive part of my job. I wanted to be a dancer but it turns out now that we've got social media I got to be a photographer and no makeup artist. But you know I found a good balance with it and I found a way to let people in on what my life is without feeling like I have to create something that's fake or be a persona of myself that isn't real like I share the real me and some days that isn't you know having the most perfect skin but I think because of my journey it's led me to being surrounded or supported by by like minded people and I think that's more important than having a massive huge following and being a You Tube star and I have to say when we talk about your professional successes you probably put equally high or higher your personal successes you know being or being a wife and being a mom if you're happy in that then you can be happy in other parts of your life 100 percent you know happiness starts within it's corny and cheesy. Cliche is that sounds it's true and you have to do a lot of work on yourself in order to figure that out and you know reading loads of Paulo Coelho books like the album it really started planting those seeds and you know help me find my life's mission my life's purpose which I feel is to help empower the next generation and and bring wellness and fitness activities through dance to those that are looking for and need in their lives so they feel empowered enough to just be themselves to be happy to be content to be confident enough to to live the life of their dreams Well it sounds like you're doing the right thing what's next for you them because certain 2 little girls Yeah exactly there's lots of talk about a reunion with the Pussycat Dolls What can you tell us about that there's always the potential. I have nothing to confirm or deny but it would be amazing to share the stage with you know 5 of the most brilliantly talented amazing women so. But wealthy Well it sounds like you're in a good place in your life lovely to speak thanks so much for coming on be content and be confident a good motto to have can be Thanks thank you so much. What their long chain won't lose a key from being road to the Bedford Row just boy by the hits Paul there are a few other it's a little bit busy but and there's nothing particularly significant money to the eye for 2 white going away from. And we're all a lot calmer now there's homeless Paul Simon this Saturday James Church in Northampton is having their Christmas fare all the usual stalls 1030 says jail to start with that one on Saturday and on Friday we're employing this one through the waking grand then if you're not doing anything on Friday had a player yes I know that you do a show 2 or 3 this is 2 top 8 Mary's Church in Grand and it will cost you 3 pounds to get in but you will get a mince pie and mulled wine with that and forget the hustle and bustle of the high street enjoy a relaxed even of shopping I went to see my Christmas shopping on. That I can't remember the days of got bit lost over the last few days and I came back with a new Jim pretty pair of shoes and a bottle of gin for you for me wonderful nothing for anybody else sounds like my kind of crazy shot there now it was a shoulder How is it what is still there yes good yes I have things masking the pain now so that's a good thing while I can't wait to hear the show. Can we expect to find they make me very trousers are they Ok you might. Play along song yeah I have a snooze while we have that we're going to be talking food intolerances today and the difference between intolerance analogy I'm lactose intolerant you know yes I am . But you can be intolerant of all kinds of things I will talk about that we'll talk about. How you can find out as well because it's not so easy to find out if you've got an intolerance who will talk about things or that. The program and I am desperately trying to mend whatever Oh that's right yes it's honest and the bill is one of the biggest thing to be said was not a pagan is the next he did that last Yeah I mean I think you can just buy my short term memory as terrible. Yes yes yes I am going to find out from a stylist about her 3 step rule to buying the perfect clothes yet I'm not very good at it either she moans at me every time she comes in because I go in on a fit and I take it home I don't try on or anything so we'll find out from her about that and of course not been here for the last couple of days so there's been no Wes Peden it'll be back to the counties being bereft. Dory I meant that these are tough B.b.c. Radio Northampton now he's sold more than 7000000 albums worldwide he's performed for the likes of the queen the pope and 2 presidents but nothing I'm sure will be quite up there with performing for the concrete cals of Milton Keynes it's the big time it really is coming to m.k. Next year it's the people's tenor Russell Watson I wrestle bring it on bring it to health and indeed and you say that this is part of a pretty long tour for you isn't it. It's relatively long I mean we've done. Weight we've done the year we did over $120.00 calls Copely is. Year before last I think we did about $82.00 so we'll go with we are going to be adding more concerts to next year as well I think by the time we finish will probably be around about sort of $75.00 shows like you see taking it easy I love it I love it my agent always says to me says What do you want to be such a down the job when you could be out doing a gig. So you then highlight all the reason nobody you know you love it. But you are going all over on you you mean you're going to be a far away and you've got j c w do you buy. Yeah Joy Joy easy we might be popping into Australia in New Zealand yet was still planning on. And who decides she's your agent just give me a 2nd somebody just walks in with mince pies Oh. My word I'm sorry you're ready we've got it we've got it I've got a vision of this happens in all of your interviews Russell does it Bernie might be in sunnier climes book and he's not got mince pies. Listen to this you know Dallas I'm see are looking at us like that just like mom used to make. This now it's this store and. Buy up the you know your if it's a heavy on the pastry you know it's actually very nice that what got to say that the mother in law made it oh wow. Does she make it with short bread half I find that they're there they're kind of Rolls Royce of mince pies I don't know what you would you call the shore bread Haley you know it's Israeli my sister Helen she's also a businessman I keep it in the family you know what I'm saying short cross pastry is you know crisp a very nice you know more of the classic That is lots of sugar on it as well yeah nice Ok edge is a crim But yeah he's been. It's definitely been brushed over with some egg white because it's slightly glazed I think you know how to live in Manchester don't really. No Sahiba me that people and wow you really are living the dream totally now so we talk about the top 2 we think we should Oh yeah yeah yeah so it's cold it's got a snazzy name come on while you pronounce it for me cans only them on I something like that that was very good Actually I'm so neat I'm more a c. Perfect all set out for us then what need. Is Songs of Love comes on it I'm on it and basically. It's songs that love songs and also songs that I love isn't. It I mean it's worked out well for me I mean literally could relate to anything couldn't sing anything. Called Songs of Love me love you no doubt about. It all that's a song I love. The meatloaf and the story of people we got him yeah it's interesting because we did do on the last all that we did we did a little section at the end of one of the nights and we thought we put a meatloaf song in and he went mental. In a good way in a very good way like a sort of Oh goodness me maybe I should forget this classical stuff going to build a rock somewhere Well I mean if you look anywhere on the internet wrestling you are the Can You are the classical crossover artist so maybe you should be doing more crossing over well yeah I've always wondered what cross over me are you rate. Is it a good thing is it a bad thing he's neither one thing nor the other he's a crossover artist I think you're doing alright out of it right. Now but this is the story in all seriousness is it's going to be. The stuff that we're putting in this mall I would say more current more Poppy we've we've put our own little slant on so we've we slightly changed I mean I'll give you an example Elton John's your song and on a completely different arrangement on it and I've put some nice big soaring heights and a no sin there as well so it's it really does sound quite quite dramatic so that's that's come out really well and what do you do to keep the voice good. Just praise lots of mince pies Yeah yeah prayer is good. I think most of it's common sense you know not too much alcohol no smoking drink lots of water on the day of a concert or keep hydrated and I think that's that's probably one of the most on the sold things we're seeing this talk about you know honey and lemon and all this that and all these wonderful things you can take my advice Drink as much warts on the day of a concert as you can because the more lubricated the vocal folds are the better they'll perform you say people should listen to this kind of stuff when they don't drink don't drink really cold water drink room temperature the reason that people you know people say room temperature water because of blah blah blah rubbish you drink room temperature water not because they may evoke all colds cold or anything silly like that you drink you drink room temperature water because room temperature water warm water goes into your system better than cold which generally just feel she's straight through your body Ok we're going tepid I'll think of you whenever I have a tepid glass of water and have a tepid glass and it will you know those hydrate you better if you drink warmer water now we say that Utah is getting slightly shorter because he like the quiet life you know that long married couple of years is it now has it going even during the quiet life we've been together now you know for 8 years and marriage marriage little be our 3rd year in summer and you're enjoying it I. Yes I love it it's a good life that we have together and we you know we we get on well we have similar interests we have lots of fun and laughter We like going out and dining and spending time with you know family and friends and we have a good life together and you know one for hanging out with the celebs I know I've got friends you see I don't. I've got people I know the famous you know want to see in a sale own store for a friend friendship something that you develop isn't it through people that you know when you meet and. Not something that you for. All their famous or they'll be friends with like I say I know lots of famous people but I wouldn't say that you know I don't go out and have dinner with you know I know Gary Barlow he's wrote a couple of songs for me in the past but we don't go out and have dinner or anything we say are if we see each other and how are you doing health wise now because obviously it was much publicized that conversation. I have nowadays you know if you say hanging out with Gary Barlow but not much. When he got a funny story actually Well golly. We went to the Trafford sense it's a get something to a glamour and this is going but when it went I think it would have been so it would have been 2004 when he wrote a song called The alchemy for an album called Amaury music and it was a Jew out with a lot of Fabi and it was an absolute and absolutely so stonking song it's a brilliant piece of writing lyrically as well it's a fabulous song and it was before take that got back together again and it was slightly more robust than as well and we walking around the Trafford Center You know I would think it was a little bit and she wasn't I wouldn't say it was you know on the tracks in Ireland but it was a little bit more is very You look very very slim you know very how easy it is in a tepid water that's what he's doing is doing something but he looks well anyway but yeah so walking through the Trafford Center and you know me and and and everyone saying hello to me and I are also known knowns like you know couple of people glands and then I saw you know 2 years later I'm walking through the traffic sense and nobody's looking at me and he's all over town like. Yeah we're going to be on the ground isn't it. And how are you doing health wise because there was so much you know much publicized your problems with your brain tumor everything's good now is it it's all good. Back to normal well as normal as I'll have a baby but yeah I mean that the thing as as left its legacy I have to say a daily regimen of different drugs and injections and sample and gels and stuff to keep myself going but. It's a small price to pay I'm still here and you know I mean I'm enjoying life and just as strong as I ever was a lot my fitness still play a lot it's an ace going to the gym a lot in my box and stuff so and you get a much healthier outlook on life as well because it gives you perspective on space it does what you put saying you get out of life and I think that's on every level you know I mean the life completely differently to what it did 7 years ago and that's that's right across the board you know with the friendships and relationships and everything that I have no time for you know misery and morbidness you know wake up each day and feel like life's a gift to live in and and there for enjoying Well we need more people like you I had be mourned that you were totally bonkers you relived ups about reputation and I love it you haven't finished my mince pies. And France me one small bites we must leave you today that there are a few dates close to us the case is probably the lighthouse in class ring on March the 4th and Russell obeyed the m.k.
