Thank you very much Stephen Baldwin road remains closed in both directions that's between West rather than Hopley after an accident I am being told the police are at the same in Kings lane roads queuing between the Queen Elizabeth roundabout and the clock tower lights and staying in King's Lynn it's heavy on the Hardwick right between Hardwick roundabout and the South Gates roundabouts now looking at the trains Greater Anglia have to live up to 35 minutes between Shenfield and culture that's due to a trespass incident at which but if you see anything else or cannot take me 803897321 of. Those day is b.b.c. Music day described as an annual celebration of the power of music to change lives as part of Music Day this year the rock which runs community singing groups all over the country including in Norfolk is working with people affected by dementia Jessica Allen leads the Norah age rock choir and she's on the line to tell us what's happening here Hello Jessica. How good to have you on so are you looking forward to the day this Thursday Oh yes definitely although we've been celebrating it all week actually we've been joining in with the dementor awareness campaign where very grateful to be supporting it we've been doing it for a few years actually previously we've done flash mobs to raise money for certain charities but this year we're supporting the dementia where this campaign by every choir we're opening up acquires to the public specifically to carers of people with dementia so we've already been doing this at my choirs this week so Monday night was back ols this morning was a nor it should we did that's been very moving actually a bit more emotional than I also believe predicted and this evening I'm going to Norah chief thing require so I'll be talking to some more members and opening up our choirs again and indeed all over the u.k. We're doing this so 400 requies around the u.k. They're currently doing this all week how do you think music I'm particularly singing in in a community way community singing choral singing can help people. In general I think music is the most community based activity you could do it's just singing releases chemicals that make you feel happy anyway but of course being in a choir is with friends as well so you make new friends you meet people and you sing together and that's just a community wonderful experience to take part in and you come away having learned a song and you've achieved that together but particularly with people living with dementia it takes away their ability to communicate rarely and it often makes it hard for them to connect with people and we all know I think that music can be transformational in this situation we've often heard stories of people with dementia singing songs from their past remembering all the lyrics all the notes which is just amazing and singing brings people back together and it's like it brings back their memories in that sense which is wonderful so although they may be suffering from the stove or stating condition there's something triggered by hearing a familiar tune what were you back just somewhere that brings it back to the maybe creates other memories as well yeah I think so especially with new songs that we'll be learning but we are kind of opening up our choirs to carers to mention as well which kind of is like giving them the support that we offer as a choir the community to talk and escape in May times so that's what's brilliant. Now tell us a little bit about the rock choir because this is quite a phenomenon isn't it how long have you been in both the north one so I've been doing require for 4 years now I'm a starting my say academic year very exciting times absolutely love it so I'm the rock quietly in nor if we have to choirs and or it I'll say run back so and Wyndham choirs and it's just the best time I've been having where I all over the u.k. As a say we have about 400 rock choirs and we're the leading choir and singing group across the u.k. And it's just brilliant because anyone can come along there's no addition needed and there's no need to read music so it's just come a long distance and meet some friends and have a feel good experience and we do let anyone in of course because we can teach you to sing as well but you may have heard we've just come back from b.b.c. Proms in the park we recently were on stage and 10000 brought choir members flash mobs the whole event in Hyde Park so that was absolutely life changing to be honest we've had a good time you were there way oh yes yes I was the best time ever I was on stage we sang a couple of our songs but me and Rhapsody and don't you worry about a thing and things like that was just absolutely marvelous Well I mean this is a tremendous thing isn't it and people flock to that this is a sort of a community as well and you're saying that anyone can join anyone even the people like me saying flat you know how can you know we don't know that. And then I won't give you anything now Jessica but I'm afraid you're singing you know. Singing in the shower is my mark Oh yes well you're on the right track there because the bathroom has the best acoustics it's better than singing in the car so well done. But you can tell you are going to bring them in. Yes yes you're right so we often have people come through the door that say I have never sung before or you know I haven't sung since my school choir days and that's a very common thing and it's brilliant because we. You know rock gold sometimes or you know they just come for that choral Walmart's and it's just wonderful so we often get people that have no experience and throughout a bit of a few weeks say they'll really come out their shell and that start really enjoying themselves and singing louder it is a skill that you have to develop and singing in harmony is not easy. But we have tasters coming every week at the moment we've got running running 3 chases sessions for the next 10 weeks and I'm experiencing lots of new members joining and after a few weeks it they really do in praise and it's definitely a skill you develop and singing gets better the more you do it so yeah and in case anyone listening says Well I'd love to join the rock choir but I live too far away from Norah Jones think you have a branch in King's Lynn as well don't you oh yes Mike Tandy Affan Kings lane and West Norfolk he's running those choirs so all you need to do really if you want to come along for freight a session is go to w.w.w. Dot quiet dot com and you can type in your postcode to find your nearest Squire and then you will sign up feel free to a session and see what all the fun and fuss is about. I mean while your work with people who are affected by dementia continues and if people want to get in touch with you about that they can do so through the website as well come on that would be lovely Yes I'd love to hear about that also we have Facebook and Twitter and Instagram as well and you can just type in or a truck or most of those areas and find us so that would be lovely to from that we might be even just had a request in that we might be doing a performance and wind for dementia charity as well which he loves. Well Jessica. Happy b.b.c. Music day but I know everybody's music day for you isn't it. And thank you for coming on and here's to the. Small people joining in thank you very much keep singing. It with the microphone off. Thank you Allen from the. She is the leader. Die straight if another thing Mark not Flo ruled the world for a little while didn't see a member that were quite recently I saw an old bit of footage of him performing on t.v. Radio Norfolk that consolidating their league position is a must this in reality for the club we've got a transfer really because although we are strong through our very strong use especially quite often scenes are judged on their 1st team and 'd a lot of the sponsorship comes from yeah because the 1st 2 men or ladies are doing well so that does bring money into the club so I feel it is our duty to stay in the early states of the County Championship title decider between Somerset and Essex at Taunton Somerset were bowled all out for 203 Jack Leach was involved in a last working partnership of 59 there they must win to claim a 1st championship title Essex had reached $25.00 without loss in their. 1st innings with Alice to cook at the crease but honestly no surprise to anybody it's now raining. And the linnets on the radio tonight handily play some it's been a good start for them as I lay off flying Yeah they it's got to the point now where . At this time of the season he manages trying to. Sort of increase the conference in the team and say that we're playing well in the results will come as he's going the other way he's having to do interviews that are just dampening down everybody's enthusiasm and telling them to keep their feet on the ground because that the newly promoted that nobody really expected them to to do much the season in league terms of survival would have been an achievement but as it stands their 3rd in their table not been top until the last couple of games but tonight it's they the magic of the f.a. Cup under floodlights at the walks ass Alfredsson and this shows me a big crowd at the walks but if you're not there you can follow it all by tuning in to fill dailies program the saving after 7 is that right it is spot on Boulder and Steve Rush broke out the walks that I pour some magic of the last couple of years so let's have some more tonight you're absolutely right 7 till 10 the saving the coverage will get under way thank you very much. And if you're a football manager maybe a poker face might be a good idea facing those questions. Slow Radio Norfolk travel and his Johnny Rock math thank you very much indeed. Analysts just about 10 minutes ago I called the claims alliance if you'd like to have a guy. You can send is a text message that's probably the best right. 813 double 3 Just remember to begin the text with the word Norfolk. It's been 2 years in the making but the new East Anglia's children's hospice home has now opened its doors the 10000000 pound building at from Ingham in known as the Noack is a replacement for the old much loved hospice at quitting them out riposte an apparent was that earlier for a tour of the new building. Well it's all go here 4 miles out of North City Center from. The brand new site of the no which is a hospice being purpose built for Norfolk patients for families and for young children so we're going to head in I like the the outside of the building it's got this wonderful sea to Callao to which we Brits the outdoors in so let's have our luck head through the automatic door everything's sort of been finished off here 3 weeks. Sun flowers everywhere the floor was busy being cleaned and there are people in hi vis wandering around I'm here to meet service manager Jane Campbell who's going to give us a quick tour around the building a very good afternoon to you good afternoon thank you very much for joining me and showing me around this new space it's very open I like it's lovely this absolutely fantastic tell us the story of the new look then where did it where did the idea start well we have been for over 20 years we've been Aquidneck I'm in the hospice equipping them which is a beautiful building and a beautiful setting but the building is very old with narrow corridor towards care being delivered on 2 floors and as children as technology has improved and children have started to survive longer they've required bigger wheelchairs more equipment and actually we got to the point where it was really difficult to difficult particularly some to some children that we can actually deliver care to because of the environment that we were in so we identified 6 over 6 years ago because I've been here 6 years and I've been here from the start over 6 years ago that we needed to build a new hospice and so they found a piece of land that was felt to be appropriate and then we had a consultation with families with staff from our other another hospice where we've built a new hospice in Ipswich and Staff Gen. Really the architects so we kind of had input from a lot of people also some of the n.h.s. Staff in the community about actually what do we need in this new building and here we are today it's looking very good it's very open which is great unlike And I'm sure you'll be pleased to meet say this it's not like a hospital at all you especially want families to feel a real big sense of ownership was there here we had to what we had to do was we had to combine. Maintaining a feeling of homeliness whilst having a really super pinnacle environment to be able to deliver care effectively and efficiently Well let's have a what and where in the I suppose reception slash atrium section we're busy folding bits of tents here because you've got lots of fundraising events happening you've still got money that you need to raise for this the building may be standing but there are finishing off bits that need to be done yes there are we're still we're still buying furniture we've brought a lot of furniture from quite a number as we're going to reuse whatever we can but there was a much bigger building so we need more more equipment basically and people been so generous of people have been absolutely amazing and you know whether it's somebody who donated a pound or there's somebody who's a native close to our shops or you know the the major donors as well absolutely every single penny has been used towards the new hospice Come on then show us what can I come and say Let me show you the sense we really. Feel the need to whisper in a dark room oh look at this in front of me it looks like a bit of a disco in here it's glorious The lights are just switched on we've been submerged but not into complete darkness just describe what we've got in here today so we're in the sensory room and we've got a bubble we've got fiber optic lights we've got the most fantastic water bed which is warm. So I have light laid on it myself and yes please do come on we've got to have a way is this one or have ever been on a waterbed before. This is why I've got a sparkle cloud above us now and the bed is just fantastic if you've got slightly achy back is brilliant and for children whose muscles don't work properly this is a really really lovely relaxing warm environment for them to be able to lie on and the bed is big enough so they can actually land here either with the with the nurse or Kara or with their parents if their parents with them because we have children that come and stay on their own but we also have children who come and stay with their families Jane sitting here on this budget sort of makes me feel like that that the serious really serious part of this is the news that nobody wants to hear that their child is on well or their family member is on well. To have all of these facilities must just be such a weight off family shoulders because you've got that pressure as well on your you know or on your shoulders as a parent or as a ground parent or a sibling and to have this is amazing I feel really strongly that. The important part of what we do is not only caring for the child but also came for the entire family and that's whatever the family might be so it might be an extended family it might be a family who's divided by divorce we have all sorts of different types of families and it's it's really important that we're inclusive of all of them and you are absolutely right to say that this is something nobody nobody wants to be eligible to come to a children's hospice nobody wants to belong to the club that we that we have here and so we have to make it absolutely as good as we can and we do what people search for family members said when they forked or they've seen their. They've just been so unbelievably positive we've got families who only have care in the community county because the other thing that the hospice will will act as is a hub for delivering services in the community because we try to deliver services for families in a place of their choosing rather than our choosing so families have been having care in the community because a because it's been too far to come to the hospice equipment and sometimes because their wheelchairs are too big in the and the facilities are on as good as they might be so those families now are saying to us actually want to come have came in the hospice. And and the the kind of overwhelming response from families has been supposed to have awesome is one of the words has been used to describe what the hospice is like and I just feel really privileged actually to lead a fantastic team and so the team is exactly the same as we've had acquitted him so the spirit of Quidnunc has come with us because it's the spirit is within the team and we now have these absolutely superb I think I think world leading facilities at the New York has it been an emotional journey it has been an emotional journey I think for some families and for staff it's been a wrench to leave quit in them. I think that hasn't been a week for me since I've been imposed there hasn't been a week gone by when I haven't for a call My into we're at the New York but actually I've got start here who've been here over 20 years some of my staff so to move from quick to the know has been a big a big wrench but actually they've been they've been fantastic must often have been amazing and have and have welcomed with open arms the facilities because of the impact it will have on the children their families well you do an amazing job a so comfortable on this but now I know it's not for me but it's one thing never staying on a waterbed before it's can see why you just get so relaxed and feel really good space thank you so much for showing me around it's been really nice to thank you thank you very much the new East Anglia's children's hospice just outside Nora from Ingham Earl the Nook. Which is now operating it's been completed in recent times as a building and doing the serious work that so many people donated the money for and the charity fund raising was extraordinary over the last few years many people in the area have donated to this $10000000.00 pound appeal and that's what your money has paid for an approach at the no. 9 minutes to 5 this is radio Norfolk and what about the tee time theme time every day we take a theme Chub it from television or film or radio from somewhere and we ask you to identify the program of the film it went along with it's a t.v.
