This is a poor night on 5 Live on Dawson and the boy and come up in this hour the program in a moment we'll hear the latest on the major affected hundreds of thousands of people across parts of the U.K. In fact there are still people trying to get home from their travels by train and otherwise and been travelling for some time Arkansas a more than a moment or 2 also Donald Trump says their support across Congress for tougher background checks for gun buyers 4 in the chief shootings in El Paso in Dayton which killed 31 people last weekend I remember the rumble in the jungle in the Thrilla in Manila now we've got the Jew in the desert and the Joshua's we should match we Vendi Ruiz is taking place in Saudi Arabia human rights groups on 2 happy is it just the money talking will get the week's news from East Africa India remember in an hour's time we'll open up the phone lines for the new season of the World Football phone and we're talking football in America out of North and South and of course some players from those regions playing in our leagues. First hundreds of thousands of people across parts of the U.K. Have been affected by a major power cut National Grid says the situation is now getting back to normal after the issues at an offshore wind and a gas fired power station were resolved there blackouts across the southeast southwest and northeast of England as well as the Midlands and Wales Let's speak to the B.B.C. Reports and the more and Dickie bring us any more news on this Good morning Don Well as you say the power is back up and running for those domestic customers who lost their electricity it went off at about 5 o'clock and most of those customers were restored by. 6 o'clock or half past 6 but the insuring problem is with the transport network and there have been chaotic scenes last evening and continuing and there are still people stuck on trains or right now just looking at the update from Thameslink and Northern trains and they say they have a number of trains on the railway which are unable to move or require the attention of a specialist engineer and the message which was posted just 20 minutes ago says the rescue of these trains is ongoing and prevents a train service running and along with many other of the train companies they're saying those problems will continue until at least mid day later on today so the problem is certainly not over and many of those people have been on those trains for 1st something like 9 hours and you can just imagine the scenes I think you may be talking to somebody shortly but these are trains that. May have lost the air conditioning that you you can't open the windows they may be running out of food and drink and they're still waiting to know what's going to happen to them tonight so for those people those trains in a must be a real nightmare indeed and even they might be cold comfort to them Can you give any details about what exactly happened these poker gods happened yes I mean national the national grid in fact haven't given us very much information they they simply say that 2 generators they call them in other words sources of power went went offline in the same time they're not saying what they were but industry experts telling us that at $1658.00 a gas fired plant a little little Barford in Cambridge chair failed and then 2 minutes later Horn see offshore wind farm also disconnected now we don't know if those 2 events are related at all we just don't. No the stage but the fact that 2 of them went down meant that in one fell swoop the lost about 5 percent of its power and that is what is created these these power cuts right across the country geographically different locations from the south right up to the north or the north east England Wales it seems Scotland not apparently affected but those widespread power cuts certainly in the domestic network but the problem was sorted out pretty rapidly and most of those domestic customers were back on by 6 or 630 but it's the transport network which has been really hit hard and there are questions being asked about why the core transport network has been affected so badly and certainly what happens we understand the train companies is that when the power comes back on it's not simply a question of the train start off run again in many cases as a said they need a specialist engineer to go out and restart them. And meanwhile they're blocking the line so that is that explains to a certain extent the ongoing problems on the on the trains and that explains why there will still be traffic chaos later today Saturday doesn't it because the trains are in all the wrong places that's right the trains are in all the wrong places the drivers are are out of hours so it's very much like you see at the airports when you when you have weather related problems will strike related problems there is inevitably a knock on effect and that's certainly what the rail companies are expecting there's been a big problem the King's Cross in London the station was actually closed for quite a while because there were too many people on the concourse some Pancras similar problems and lots of people wondering how on earth they were going to get home if they could other people thinking what well perhaps they have to find a hotel somewhere in London so a lot of problems especially it seems to the north of London and those major terminals some Pancras and Kings Cross Andy thank you B.B.C. Reporter there and the more let's read to Dana now who left Edinburgh for King's Cross had heart 12 presuming that 30 minutes off the day yeah yeah we have just touched I didn't want to take her off for 12 hours or even at one or it took you nearly 13 hours to nearly 13 hours to get one thing across from Agra on the road that people are trained coming I'm pretty how long would the journey normally take as 4 hours 4 hours half 4 and a half hours Armalite so we thought of a 3 day how did you cope and how did everybody cope with the other half hours on board. Perished. 2 bombers the silly were held in full for 8 hours the 1st to a reason or fairly normal body I were 7 you could imagine things were different to get free and people were threading the cells of our trade and through just being held in middle of nowhere for longer and we are trying to convince even aged people 1st one to try to get off the train so they will stay on credit card to run over by 5 hours ago so. Critically good environment to be and where were you when you had this thought of the delays there was a train. Hard feel have to feel it to 2. Hours from. Me a person who feels. Yet even though we were all kind of felt like this but. Really we started because we held a high heel from the air we rip our box open the line word as the village made it to see village and then changed lives on plus more line to take us into one of the things across all this the untold side of A Our 1st to go back and come back in some of the things broke for those who don't know who have who would call be more than half an hour away from when I was after things from the virus for the reason you spread the other tree the SO A.P. Across the even a. Dark place that are looking to you know about the train and have transported there because where we really pasted in the fact that we were chopped in the tree on behind us and there was no option for a train station in the of our city has really quite simply just had that. For 8 hours until they can be heard and it's a long. Read because I fool you know you're going to say you read you call so when the doesn't work and I have for the right like my eyes or 3 spots up behind me. Somewhere I know there was a couple of services behind us as I left the left Edinburgh just before and so there's still people like you there just naive or maybe officious for 1314 hours. And when you get to see some of the train approaches to. Hear it they are obviously using the reply sorry 1st I thought it was going all me. You know for about a couple of hours and they don't see those every half hour and we don't know what purpose move that was they don't say every half hour or so it was people are going to. Train the stuff on the junction as a means of a full recovery vehicles we do it all when we don't have to me is time of arrival for you and then that went on for 7 hours the couldn't understand each and I been told he still goes oh what's. The 1st sentence any rule with the and I can imagine the impact on whatever else people had to do that day so I think being I meant to be in Bristol right by in Bristol. But when I asked for a focus off and then I thought to myself Well surely OK $111.00 train that night which is a lot further. Obviously I haven't because it was an A I recently. Know going to Bristol to see so I didn't feel free to give a shot to have you be sitting in Bristol. Because my family are sitting waiting for me right fortunately I have a wholesaler ange the London for the season so. Yeah I mean. Enough to find accommodation or any IRA tiredly thank conversation rather people for the chaos and wanted to take a stroll try to break and you think you can imagine. Chris Dana thank you really appreciate. It yeah good luck I want to keep you up any longer I'll go good program coming up later on by the way if you got some to listen and if you can get to bed as it were if you can write Dana thank you thank you this week to my cool as well he left New calls so I had to call this off today and with your 5 year old daughter Miko. Had a few have you just reached King's Cross his room yesterday just reached just it just left the train and I think I'm cheering for tactics right now but I have no idea of. Course. How's your daughter coping they are sure their case restricting a bit to get referred she is she's now obviously up and we're talking to all of these people it's very busy it's very confusing and I'm timeless about 6. Inches So yes we're trying to get you trying to get. There you should now well we're worried we're in central London but I live in and I wait and see which is a little while away so I'm hoping we're going to get into a taxi at some point. OK And. From here on in. You know the west of how did you cope with the I was I'm a little younger I was that they were shy and it was it was it was always he was a bit frustrated to begin with when you were looking at photos but it was. It was more a case of just getting information out about what was going on so sure to understand the circumstances because you sound relatively congenial about it low budget was much more frustrating than can you understand the circumstances well there you know it's it's hard to blame on the individual in this you know is it the train staff or I presume the just relaying information that was going to them and the most frustration it was every were kind of stood aside along I think your previous caller was kind of in the hot field I think we were there just in front of Hockfield all just behind outfield and you know the same thing we're just stuck waiting and there was no there was no sense of kind of it was going to take that long to begin with it was you know we were you know 60 Minutes was short lived you know if things will be moving that eventually it's just it's it dawns on you that I actually know this is going to be a lot longer and. Obviously by the time I got to about 89 o'clock I think people are just given up on sort of when they thought it was happening saying Michael thank you for telling us what about your daughter is a proper trooper you know he is she is really is not through yeah thank you really appreciate it Michael that he's been through that you can imagine what everybody's been treated and it's not over yet as you can have very canny snow of and they'll be chaos tomorrow as well not least on that line I imagine. Anyway let's move on Donald Trump says there's support across Congress for tougher background checks for gun buyers following 2 shootings in El Paso and Dayton which killed 31 people last weekend with us now in Washington is our North America correspondent piece of Bo's do we know any more about what these tougher background checks will consist of Peter there's very little detail Darton This is Don Trump talking as he's leaving the White House saying that there'd been a as you say tremendous support for changing the background check laws of course background laws exist at the moment the point is that there needs to be tougher more stringent background checks especially to try to identify people with mental illness and this is something the president has talked about a lot who with a gun in their hands say it wouldn't be clearly a good idea and that the laws as they stand need to be much tighter this is a slow process there were and what is frustrating a lot of Democrats is that they have already in the House of Representatives passed a background check law but the Republicans haven't jumped on board and what isn't clear and it seems as if what President Trump is talking about is not simply supporting what the Democrats have already thrush now but pursuing something new which could take a long time and when talking of background checks the president is talking about people who are mentally ill they seem to be shoving the blame always on people with mental health conditions which can be you know most people in actual fact just wonder whether this is enough and you understand why I'm saying this from our perspective certainly many of us who look at this is putting a plaster over a very deep wound in America. Yes and I've heard this a lot and I know a lot of people who are frustrated with simply talk of tweaking some existing laws maybe bringing in new laws but simply as they apply to background checks now unless America decides to change the Constitution to make it illegal for people to bear arms which frankly no one can see happening all they can do is bring in new laws to restrict the number of people who are getting guns or restrict the conditions or perhaps make it harder for people who have a history of mental illness all of those issues which the president is very very keen to talk about and he often. Talks about it isn't the gun that triggers itself it's the human being and often it's a human being with with mental illness but equally there are many other people who and indeed some who would like to see the Constitution changed and make the United States more like other countries like the U.K. Where you you don't have an automatic right to own a gun from what we know of the chief shootings last weekend it seems as if the gunman in the Dayton Ohio shooting had a history of mental illness but in the in the shooting in El Paso I'm not sure unless something's immersion I miss the didn't seem to have been a history to owners that that's correct and from what we're hearing about the and of course the shooter in the El Paso case is still alive he was arrested and is being questioned for what we are hearing from his initial responses when he was arrested he knowledge that he was the gunman Of course he needs to go on trial innocent until proven guilty however it is emerging that he acknowledged what he did and that he was focusing on that Hispanic community and so no suggestion that what he did at least so far was caused by any kind of mental. Illness that he had an agenda and that was an agenda that once he'd managed to get hold of a gun and we understand that gun was purchased legally there was something that he set out to achieve what we call from those shootings but how is America reacting or viewing what happened then I imagine it's not headline headline news anymore is it simply a political issue now. It's a it is donate a political issue it has been headline news up until about today and of course that the president visited the 2 towns so that attracted a certain amount of publicity perhaps not as much as it would have done if television cameras and journalists had actually been allowed to accompany the president which they weren't allowed because someone in the White House determined that it wasn't a photo opportunity and I know there was some frustration about that indeed the president believes that he should have had more while he believed he should have had more positive coverage of of what he managed to do so you're right the debate now is to do with politics and it's back in the news today because of what the president said heading off on his summer break is going to a fundraiser later today and then he'll be having his summer break at one of his golf courses and this is kept it in the news today but the point isn't the frustrating thing for a lot of people is that and if you compare with New Zealand how quickly things changed in New Zealand after that terrible shooting there $51.00 people were killed within 24 hours the prime minister had said to New Zealand that the country's gun laws would change and within a few weeks those changes were coming into effect no one believes that that kind of speed is going to happen in the States these are thank you Peter Bowes there in Washington now let's find out what's happening on the back pages of this morning's Daily Express I've been speaking to it's sports night editor Richard Lewis and he's been telling me about their headline Let's ask our astral stars. Story on. Their openings season you Cassel tomorrow remember a few weeks ago the Mets I was a. Straight a class and this incident. Carjacking followed through the streets of London. That couple weeks since an online threats and. Other threats to them and in the white hot right incident. They won't travel to New Castle because they can be away from home and it's a story that obviously the place to look at in so since this is a routine Villepin story no Normally when threats like this and I. Never guess the state replies are put out of matches or try and I didn't yesterday so you know it's a Richard Mattick story this one. I'm shocked actually mentions shocked and never experienced anything like this before in football where players were. Removed from going to play a match to do their job essentially because of threads have you ever come across anything not so absolutely and and I think there's concern here also for understanding is the fact that if they are why or why a games are there other family who've been insupportable security things like that other foreigners will be on their own and so people know they know the got no arms and things out it's one that's got big implications because it's one actually missed with I mean I have to miss him because he didn't because obviously also what has to have troops of troops abroad trips quite every other week. It's a very funny story it is and to be fair to ask him from what I've read they asked for a statement saying that the players and their families are being supported. Absolutely all the support I can from. Other areas but. As I was as we having said it had an online threats as well it's it's a fraud and it's a frightening time does take the shine of what should have been still is nevertheless a great opening night for the new Premier League season. It does but it it will it was super performance by Liverpool are they not right for one or as articles last year by just a point to Manchester City looked like. They just carried on where they finished off they were they were fantastic but the sound I was free not up an injury to go to Alice and such a star last season they slipped just district in the ball out and it looks like it's going to come after he was replaced by a tree and the. New signing warning from West Ham they didn't expect the crime occurred within a within 30 or 40 minutes local and teasing me playing in the Super Cup on Wednesday nights Liverpool go to Istanbul What's it like show sorry. I so want to be free for that one and I would think the next 24 hours well know exactly how bad the injury is early reports are it may just be a few weeks left will be really hoping that it's not longer. Listen to the 1st of. Them coming from John Mara but I kept thinking about the the knowledge coach you know there are 2 ways to look at it if you if you're a. Good and as you know. Will be completely overawed here how do I get them back up or you could argue well throw them in the deep end nads as is good or as bad as they gain to meet in the Premier League anyways up from there did you know what I mean. Yes it is wonder which one which way you play it you know you say were Hang on guys you code I did not well but nevertheless if you survive the worst you're going to meet in the well the most difficult Maj you're going to come across in the Premier League or whether you say that that's the standard you law aren't up to it what you say Well from what he said after the guy and he was also very proud of them and I did play well in the 2nd half and that's a good position about in the possession was 58. To Liverpool 42 true so no rates which is a great is a good balance. I guess the start of any campaign a manager. Look at all the matches the night take off when lose draw one expects to get a full 3 points from and surely guns that showed last night wouldn't a been there would have been thought he might win Benoit to themselves proud of courses on goal which didn't did hope to go one no down bonce it's key to knowledge is just a sign that. They won the championship Well last year I don't they won their opening match and say the last is that's a good argument but it will be tough for them it will be tough but I don't think anyone expected to win in the opening game it is a tough division when you look at the visions later on today resolve I know you're covering man you know it versus Josie West versus sissy and Spurs versus village we start with is verses the new comers and we show yes and the big headline we have is I need a trophy Spurs would like any SO S S porch and it's not surprising because in 6 years manager they're beaten Finally I suppose the Champions League back in June was fantastic fantastic run to that final but they are still in need of a trophy and I think the Spurs friends and nothing that import is talking about I need to lift the trophy Carrot Top as I got Premier League Champions League so it looks like in those competitions is me playing the strongest science around because I thin of the dice fans want to see their side winning it winning things and Spurs progression on the post has been fantastic start saving against Aston Villa in the light match today. Fantastic stadium which I moved into. And it's now a new beginning for me start his new season and buy some good signings and it just feels like a new fresh air office is and I must be try resort least one of the traces. That's Richard Lewis of the Express into memory and often I was I would open up the phone lines for the 1st of the new season of world football phone ins you can join in we're talking football in the United States in Central America and in South America and of course more importantly perhaps present over there playing in our leagues as well the number to call of that time is 885909693 although you can text me from now on 85058 or e-mail up all night at B.B.C. Sounds a whole night by date has already been set for was being billed as one of the most anticipated heavyweight rematches in the last 30 years in December Britain's answer just would say cotton ended Ruiz Jr to regain the 3 world sides whose He lost in June but not everyone's happy with the location of the FIDE Amnesty International have accused the host country Saudi Arabia of sports washing and described human rights record as abysmal Well Mike is the boxing correspondent for the athletic I started by asking him how the fight has ended up in the outskirts of the country's capital Riyadh just all the money as always in sports but especially in boxing I'm told that Saudi Arabia organizers which let's be honest is really the king of Saudi Arabia which funds everything they're offered something well in excess of $40000000.00 scifi so lay not heavily anticipated and hereis Anthony Joshua Remax that's a fight that if it landed back at M.S.G. Or say at Crystal the Stadium in Cardiff where landed maybe 6 $7000000.00 pounds and in Cardiff maybe $10000000.00 US we're talking a $40000000.00 here just to bring a fight at least and it could be well in excess of that and when you say that can you study a bit rabid You know I mean the crown prince been Salamone because he's the one that needs a bit of decent public to you know thought. Yes he's the one behind it from what I've been told and they've made a big push in the last couple years to bring met Matt major events to the king of Saudi Arabia we have a W E Which of course is still massively big they brought crown jewel November and they have a 10 year deal now as W A N businessman and a lot of people think it's worth about 545000000 of that it another of dance in June to do another one in the fall we had a much smaller fight Amir Khan against Billy did there just a couple weeks ago but look this is the biggest fighting global boxing and she does a 19 so this is a big deal for them slanted there but it takes on a political perspective doesn't it you know if you go back in time we had the rumble in the jungle when the president. As it was then president. Needed positive global publicists he brought Mohammed Ali there was George Foreman then we had the Thrilla in Manila just at the time when President Marcos of the time of the Philippines needed some positive global publicized see and he spent millions bring in the Joe Frazier and Mahmud Ali there and then of course we had the events of the murder of the Saudi journeys. Which has blighted prime princes been Salmond's copybook if you like internationally and the present United States has been dragged into that one as you might know so is this a book Symmachus a political event I wonder. I see it as a boxing match but throughout history as you mentioned box is always tied to politics whether social economics in neighborhoods or right here on the global stage so yes there this is definitely would be a narrative that hangs over the fight and a negative fashion that he heard already receiving plenty of criticism personally I don't like to be pious when it comes to where fights are held after all these are guys punching each other in the head in a violent blood sport so. You know look this Eddie turns it is job by securing the biggest amount of money for his fighter Anthony Joshua who's going to stand to make well over the $30.00 plus 1000000 he may for the 1st fight and now he lost he has a loss in his record and he's in the IT Well let's say he loses despite his marketability as her damage greatly he's been a big payday and the Ruiz those are when the calls the shots in terms of you know where the fight is going to be located he is the champion any. Well that's the funny thing here and a reason for all his shouting and whatnot on Twitter and on talk shows in the US had really no legal say in where the fights of place and Hillary said over and over I'm not going to the U.K. He cited the Dillion white drug test and situation with ouster Reavis and it was really a game of chicken was it a noise a hernia Joshua Yes I'm sure it was but he didn't have any legal leverage because when he signed that contract to fight with me Joshua add Madison Square Garden June when your plays drill Miller that contract contained every mass clause that stipulated in writing that Joshua and Eddie Hermann control the site of the rematch to end the day and he had a guaranteed purse was set at around $9000000.00 So in theory is really yes trick or make him by Joshua next No but if you want to fight somebody else he would certainly be put on hold and we saw a similar situation play out years ago when Linnaeus Lewis and Haas Iraq that was another massive upset rock on knocked out England's Lennox Lewis and there was a rematch close enough fight to your mic in the event of those last rock run tries to avoid a fight with Don King they were sued there was an injunction in the fights of placing Louis one in a very much. This you wonder numbed I'm not in any way disparaging are the books about isn't this more a kid to Buster Douglas is rematch with. Mike Tyson on. Now I would I would like him more to Lennox Lewis that is Hoss in rock I'm on and theories is a fighter who I always knew in America was a good fire they were taken to be there when Joshua Absolutely not he was about a 50 to one underdog but he's a guy with Fast Hands a pressure fighter who looked impressive in April against Aus inner demons Franco the for the knockout and we knew we had skills he you know that fight against us a quarter humble years ago for a title that was a controversial decision that he saw you know tell you Mike Tyson was seen as invincible and me Joshua was not I'm going to go more with the Lennox Lewis Haas Iraq on flight because obviously in the Roos was his. First time around Denton he just should do literally look like I didn't know what hit him but he's hardly likely to be the same food choices easy I think you have to lean towards me jostle in a rematch he's a better fire and he's bigger he's stronger he even had injuries floor enough the rounds I mean I was Adam is Jay ringside and I thought wow OK this is exactly how we think it's going to go right healing the whole issues let's talk reason and then after that I looked at Josh what was just yes and Spencer and he had a lot of trouble with resists pressure style but as I expect Anthony Joshua to win the rematch the biggest question for me is what is his mental state is he confident . And also where where is he now where is his place in current book seeing rankings even though even if he beats and Andy Ruiz and gets he's 3 belts back there is still this question mark about him now people have seen him defeated I wonder whether some of the the Sharyn has been not so often and what will it save him to regain that. For him the I mean he can go a long way toward regaining his former stature by scoring a definitive knockout victory leaving no doubt whatsoever does that is he really better or he once was no you're right he showed vulnerability and the heavyweight division is really enjoying a renaissance right now we have the on say Wilder Tyson Fury both undefeated to have that's a with the fight in December and I didn't draw there but that's an interim vice this fall but they're going to meet in of probably February 2020 they have a signed contract for a rematch and they're probably in a fight a 3rd time to him next year so just to either way even if you wins you have to put him behind those 2 at the time being but what I do think Josh will can do with a win in dramatic fashion is really lift his marketability and become a bigger star than ever before because like we all know everyone loves a good comeback story everyone loves revenge. Who are coughing of those the books in chorus one of the athletic and obviously we're going to follow the events towards the rematch of the coming months now let's find out what the headlines are in East Africa now with Marco colloquia who is in Kenya Good morning Michael good morning to it and how are you this much I'm very well thanks for mud some of. That a member of parliament gets kicked a parliament food say King a baby to parliament in Kenya. Well you know this is has been one of the talking points in the country for the latter part of this week it's been about this Kenyan member of parliament who was ordered out of the parliamentary chambers after bringing have baby along. A sign that she's the Member of Parliament brought her 5 month old baby with her to work and said that she decided to bring the baby because of a domestic imagine she at home now according to the rules of Kenya's parliament only members of parliament are allowed into the chamber unless in some cases by consent from the speaker such as when for example the finance cabinet secretary who is not a member of parliament is invited to read the country's budget speech now there was commotion in the chamber when MS hasn't brought her baby in with some members of parliament airing their apparent grievances about it including the House majority leader added. This is part of what he had to say. This is our views of the house. Must be cited for close to misconduct Mr Speaker this is an abuse of the must be cited and as yet I shan't of the people of quality . He's mentioned that little of quali is in reference to the county that has an represents late after being kicked out from the parliamentary chambers. Spoke to the B.B.C. And this is part of what she had to say to help with the kids so sometimes it happens where you know you need to send people here and there and so there was an option of me to stay with the child at home this morning all go to work so I could have chosen to just maybe stay back but the way should I you know I miss work so I just decided to just go to the morning session with the baby to Parliament and since there isn't well I had to go into the chamber because where else would I keep . Is it just me Marco was the opposition to this rather excessive the clip you played from the member of parliament saying this is out of order this is bang out of order that was bang out of order was Riggs sexism or is it just me. Well you know there was actually commotion that took place in the parliamentary chambers when all this was going on we had members of parliament actually pushing each other now this did create quite a big talking point in Kenya with very different views from Kenyans about this particular incident now some Kenyans have expressed their feelings on social media that children you know should be allowed to accompany their parents to work you know and they say some of them say that you know this would help their parents concentrate because they would know where their children are however Don On the other and as well some Kenyans feel that children should be left at home as they might be a distraction to their parents or their place of work hence they say decreasing the performance now this debate is you know is bound to continue and this is after some supporters of the M.P. Who was ordered out of parliament saying they will advocate for more provisions to be put in place with some calling on parents including members of parliament to be allowed to have their children sit or play next to them as they work well maybe that might be a bit excessive got with a 5 month old baby the did Zelenka have support from female employees Yes I should say that when she walked out of the parliamentary chambers after being ordered to do so by the deputy speaker Moses job boy she was accompanied by some female members of parliament out of the parliamentary chambers and the female members of parliament who accompanied her actually said they were quite upset at what the deputy speaker had done. The deputy speaker later went on to say in a statement that there is a facility in Parliament for mothers to Nestea babies however Zelenka has Sunday night did that such a facility had been made available for the children of M.P.'s Now later in the week though there were reports of MS has signed visiting a room set aside for children in parliament and she later told the B.B.C. And I quote. I can tell you for free this place was not open to us female M.P.'s before end of quote and she also went on to say and I quote I know that some leaders are trying to embarrass me in parliament by saying that there was a room before but why didn't I know about it and of court one from Burundi there's a sad story. Yes start on this is a sad story that East Africans woke up to on Friday morning and it's about the death of a 6 year old boy who was very popular in Burundi for his comedy sketches now he passed away after going through a bout of malaria this week his name was Darcy era cause he was popularly known as common he was a young lad a primary school pupil who performed on line and in theaters in that country he was diagnosed with malaria on Wednesday this week and passed away the next day that is Thursday now the World Health Organization I should say has indicated that malaria has killed over 1800 people in ball room this year and they report that more than 5000000 cases have been recorded in that country since January now the government over the room and he has basically said that the dispute these as statistics that have been provided with the health minister they're telling journalists that the figures were lower 4300000 recorded cases the minister said with 1400 death deaths this year however analysts have said that even using the figures that were in the government is providing that is a very high figure of people in that country who have been killed after going through about some areas indeed Malaria is a deadly disease and this story just points out how different perspectives are in Africa on the one hand you know for us traveling to Africa malaria is something of a nuisance for which we have to take tablets or have an injection or there for a lot of Africans is as well what we would deem to be the covering of the flu for example for many Africans are unlike the flu it can kill but people forget. And a lot of people in Africa can afford to protect themselves from malaria but also a 6 year old boy you know the age of 6 you're going out to work for your family as a comedian or otherwise commanded the NO I MEAN been paying tribute to him you know very busy schedule is his humor. And his journals and he. Well he performed mainly in the local language there but I believe that and at one point I think this was a couple of years ago we actually did speak about Takamine prefer on the program because he had really become very popular in ballooning and some of his sketches involve him you know sort of making fun about the way parents treat children and and also the other way around so based on these kind of sketches these were instances that people in wounded could relate to and it made him actually very popular in that country and other people as well in East Africa had heard about him and say for example in neighboring countries such as at wonder the he had he had quite a bit of a fan base in that country as well Marco for now thank you very much Michael in Nairobi that's fine it was making headlines across Atlanta now with Lynn Sweet from the Chicago Sun Times Good morning Len and hello to you this Kelly saga just goes on and on and on doesn't yes now can I call him and listeners just stay with us a bit I called him an hour a rhythm and blues singer and we talked about him recently I said OK tonight are you going to now no I feel OK because I would like you had everybody find you find his musical genre Well if he was up in Cofer his musical genre then we might be brave because of my. Small serious allegations that could be what you like Robert Cally would do for me yes our R. And B. Singer R. Kelly is now in solitary confinement in a in the federal Metropolitan Correctional Center in downtown Chicago he is facing multiple charges in Chicago and other places basically sex abuse charges and child pornography so we have a column. By one of our columnists talked to his lawyer and it says that he's fighting to get the truth out but meanwhile he's sitting with no T.V. No radio no music and no books and it's interesting his own lawyer says that he's basically illiterate and can't read which I then wonder why you really are complaining that you don't have books but we have this great quote mystery he's also a spiritual guy has a Bible with him in his cell but he can't read it it's basically there for comfort . I gather maybe knows a lot of the biblical passages of it as well is he easy being deprived of all the other privileges a prisoner otherwise have for reasons well it is interesting that he's not in the general population and I think it's part maybe it's partly for his own safety it's that clear to me in the story why he is and his solitary or if he had some rural infraction one thing that we know is that his girlfriend sometimes visit him but they can't you know they can only visit him and Cmdr a video hookup but he gets a lot of mail and he opens it and he has more than enough money to buy food from the pretty from the jailhouse commissary so at least he has he has that but the other thing is that there is this lawyer is pleading to get. Computer into his cell though they're dropping it for now because he wants to finish his latest album he's got a new album Kalama says he needs treat me set but it's backed up in the crowd now he needs to get the album out people are waiting for it and I don't mean to make light of these very very serious charges that are facing him and it seems we talk about him at least once a week and our conversations because he just has a long trail and a long history of allegations now that are surfacing that he now has to answer Do you mind if I shoot to world football phone in legend do you know team victory the only reason I'm introducing him into this conversation then is because at this time he really likes to the woods theory. And we always listen see if he can do it without stumbling Tim good for. Desiccant theory nary an apparent No this is Lynn Sweet Tim it's not does it go on I knew that I got it right no not something you stick to your disc in fear of knowing the printing on hang on I think it will concentrate really really hard really really hard I might be able to do it just lean as he's out of the ship but I don't of the Chicago Sun Times not the Washington prize Please don't confuse them either. Let You Know Who did I have the place yours. I should have said soccer correspondent should not rob the. Opposite now I get it well good to me. Tim Johnson pleasure to join all skill but she knows about V.A.R. All the offside rule and know it all I want to ask you what if she knows what time to test a kind of through nary an appearance are you or I too funny and no I don't know OK that will get you gentlemen you're just trying with me because nowadays if I wish I could. Answer that with a very cool she's almost saved by the bell when she is that. She describes Kelly previously as a rhythm and blues singer I pointed out the rhythm and blues Bo Diddley's rhythm and blues you know. He's all Room B. And she pulls me up every time she comes on is he remembers or is. Geno who invented some rhythm and blues. When he was OK. And he said yes he said off the words but he got it wrong he really should've called it rhythm gospel so there you go yeah and rock or oh no obviously. They just don't know you just don't know what's going to replace it and the reason that Wexler invented the term rhythm and blues according to the Encyclopedia Brittanica which I looked up an anticipation of this is that the other games they had this music or consider their meaning by African-American musicians Thank you. For anyone else this is C.B.C. Radio. It's to a cook good morning this is not. The main News mole disruptions to the rail network expected after yesterday's power cuts uninstall thrashed North Cissie in the season opener and is taking off with a cough injury is B.B.C. 5 Live with. Clare Freeman the Energy Watch Dog is demanding an urgent report from the National Grid after nearly a 1000000 paper.
