Just thinking like fire escape rates are going to get everybody out well thanks Ray. You saw an undercover film showing birds being ill treated the video was shot to farms near run by free range chicken Ltd The firm says it was shocked and distressed by the footage and that they've suspended supply from the farms and all members of the coaching team involved have been dismissed supermarket chain Tesco has begun its own investigation Claire Palmer is the founder of the animal Justice Project Lead documented almost 500 chicks baby chicks dying in the 1st week one of . The taking by workers during their routine they so-called welfare check work is kicking me we've got the collecting birds who are seriously injured on the side floor and breaking their necks. Whirlpool has admitted to that $800000.00 of its tumble drives in homes around the U.K. Could be faulty in June the government said it would issue a recall notice of up to half a 1000000 drivers which pays to fire safety risk but when pressed by M.P.'s on the business committee company executives said the number of modified machines could be higher Jemma spur was left homeless after her machine caught fire she told M.P.'s that whirlpools treatment of her after that incident was discussed and felt like a work out well. I would just love the numbers you live when it came out in the cost of. A fellow criminal like will be questioned 2 weeks after devastating floods hit Lincolnshire questions being asked about whether Norfolk could cope if something similar happened here at Maxfield Leeds the Liberal Democrat group on the county council has written to ask the strategy which was set out 1st in 2015 is still fit for purpose he says despite his squeezed budgets it's important to realistic plans are in place to deal with such events however unlikely we shouldn't lose sight of the long term just because it's out of sight and unpredictable so really just want to make sure the County Council is doing the right thing putting the resources where it needs to to protect people from something that really if it happens is completely catastrophic people's lives Norfolk County Council says it's in the process of reviewing its environmental policies and it's working with the Environment Agency and other groups to make sure they're up to date sand Martens he's nesting side so it didn't covered by netting on the north coast have now produced babies about to fledge in April the birds arrived back to in fact and to find the nests they'd built in the cliffs last year had been covered by large nets a public outcry on social media resulted in most of them being removed so that the birds could breed it's. Presenter and wildlife campaigner Chris Packer says people in Norfolk should be proud to have played their part in standing up for the birds recently we see a sophisticated public who know fully well that they have to protect every last little bit of their boat versity and that means looking after their own backyard and the people in this area have looked after their backyard and now it's top work . B.B.C. Radio of news now with the support headlines his front BUTLER Thanks Lucy England have the chance to make history of the Women's World Cup tonight when they face the friending champions USA for a place in the final in France the Linus's kickoff their semifinal in LI on at 8 o'clock and Irish tennis club has picked up a major award from the Lawn Tennis Association the squash and Tennis Club which is based on line Tree Road has won the disability ward at the ceremony which took place at the All England Club and on day 2 of Wimbledon 2nd seed Roger Federer a safety 3 to round 2 despite losing the 1st set South African. Heritage Federer ended up winning by 3 sets to one thank you very much Rob Let's check in with the travel for Laura she is with us this afternoon. B.B.C. Radio Norfolk travel How's it looking all the queues continue in Attleboro where the I 11 is jammed both ways that the stag roundabout and that after an accident involving a van are still partially blocked and that affecting traffic in both directions between atl bar and hard the A 11 northbound are still queuing going out of pet food that's towards Nora and the still some delays on Chappell road back lane where there's an accident just north of the mortgage center and that's affecting traffic between Potro and Roy And if you see anything or can update me call 080-389-7321 thank you Laura. Well we want to check in with the war because it's been rather warm but nice Actually I don't quite know there's not going on no plane in the air and I don't know about I lay there we're just about sort of you know chugging along with the where this week it's high pressure. So we're going to see quite settled weather through the week not particularly not particularly cold sort of just. Kind of the same and we have seen quite a bit of sunshine across the county today it turned a bit cloudy the softer noon and it is cooler on the north move a case with northwesterly breezes and into the sea evening it looks fine and dry with some further spells of sunshine a bit of cat around some parts clear spells developing during the course of the night and then we're like northwesterly when temperatures between 9 and 11 degrees so into tomorrow a good start to the day with lots of sunshine around it looks largely dry there's just a small chance of an isolated shower developing later as it just clouds over a bit and once more with light northerly winds be a bit cooler on the coast down with some sea breezes developing temperatures elsewhere making it to around 20 or 21 Celsius the weather for Wimbledon I know it's good isn't it yes I'm going enjoying it let's hope it stays that way thank you so much Alex keep us up to date with our weather for today the time is 9 minutes past 5 You're listening to B.B.C. Radio Norfolk on an apparent a woman from ALL Cross says that arson attacks in the area have left her too frightened to sleep Police say a man has been arrested in connection with the attacks and has been released pending further investigation McArdle some lives in Appleyard crescent where there have been a number of fires over the past 6 weeks including at her son house I spoke to earlier this afternoon we had 3 potential houses which had been hit with Been fire is just west started and then last weekend we were hit with a car fire as well as our summer house was on fire you or your summer house and yet we only need that the car was on fire at the start and then a neighbor coming out I'm told has investigated a little bit. So I come in from off to my house and obviously then the firefighters have to go and put that out as well how is this is back to you and it's affected us a lot our kids the space we sleep in that some house that night because I was supposed to have friends I have and that's the usual kind Now area is affect us a lot on not sleeping. On made me nervous I'm anxious any noise I hear on instantly up just thinkin like fire escape routes how my going to get everybody out with a cypher 3 or even started selling typing at my level for the favor of somebody just chuckin stuff free because obviously somebody thinks it's actually brilliant and funny and then I think and of everybody else there on the other end of that I mean it's costing us money to have to replace the bins because the council doesn't do it free of charge and then obviously stuff like the summer house and thankfully we didn't they didn't destroy the whole thing because oh she looks thousands of pounds we don't all have that you know back pocket. Or you said yes. It's horrendous because literally you are waiting the 1st thing you look at a scene is you wake up in the morning is in the back garden in the front garden what's on fire especially as they will happen on Sunday morning around the same times the moment is just criminal damage done I mean they know your body has been hurt it's just property a property can be replaced but what is the next step is this person going to get a kick then from light in somebodies house that's not that's not funny the been a lot of them starting off with a BIN sauna but it's not funny when you're destroying people's livelihoods like that cause things people really work hard for you know it's not just a way then that you can just pay 40 pounds from the council you know I think it cost a lot of money people need them to get to work why is that OK that somebody can come and destroy that as I wouldn't dream of it joining what was the feeling like in your neighborhood Well we're all scared we've all been talking and we've had numerous updates from police and the fire department last week were in our neighborhood pin up late to smoke alarms making sure everyone was tested and that we had a safety plan in place can't fault the place or the fiber guide so that been really quick to respond has there been support from from the police as well yet I think they've even set up engagement surgery and that's happening on says Di at the top of the ride just so that everybody is aware of what's happening in the keeping them informed keeping them safe what to look out for what today that's really good we feel quite supported that despite all the support you're still not sleeping from a you know I mean I have not slept in weeks this is been going on since the 28th of April this is really extreme some days coming around to. Intent on destroying things that's not pay as. There are news there from our cross and Carlson speaking to me earlier the time is 12 minutes past 53 women have now made the list of the B.B.C.'s highest paid on air talent Zoe Ball Claudia Winkleman and Vanessa Feltz are among the 10 biggest earners revealed in the B.B.C.'s annual report the list includes presenters and correspondents who more than $150000.00 pounds a year Gary Lineker is again the B.B.C.'s highest paid star he took home 1750000 pounds for presenting match of the day he is our media editor am all right this is a rather blunt tool in a way it doesn't sort of convey the full picture because some of these people do a range of different jobs Carolyn his pay would reflect the fact he does both match of the day and it was a World Cup year of course the salaries in the B.B.C. Report don't have the numbers for those who paid out B.B.C. Studios the commercial wing of the B.B.C. A lot of critics of the B.B.C. Say that means you've got a very incomplete picture when the B.B.C. 1st revealed the pay of its stars the top 10 was entirely male that led to protests about women getting paid less than men who are doing pretty much the same job the corporation says it's gender pay gap has fallen from 77.6 percent to 6.7 percent Jane Garvey presents Women's Hour on Radio 4 she says progress has been made but not enough I'd like to congratulate the 3 women who've made it into the top 10 that's 30 percent of the top 10 of course be nice if it was 50 or maybe even more than that who knows we might reach that state of honor at some point in my in my life it's really worth saying of course that these salaries are really eye catching frankly they are also i water and I'm sure the majority of your listeners right now perhaps it would have been better to cut more male salaries rather than to up some female salaries while many female stars have had to pay rises several male presenters have seen their salaries cut they include Hugh Edwards Steve Wright Nicky Campbell and Jeremy Vine over all the top talent Bill. Increased by more than $10000000.00 pounds critics say the B.B.C. Should should be cutting salaries as a way of saving money rather than means testing T.V. Licenses for the over $70.00 five's the B.B.C.'s director general is Lord hall even if we were to pay none of our stars more than what the Prime Minister's paid we would only save $10000000.00 pounds it would go a fraction of the way towards coping with the burden of the entire over 70 five's which is $750000000.00 per annum you can see the full list of the B.B.C.'s top earners on the B.B.C. News website Iraq must remember that just over a year ago there was a shocking case of a shooting here in knowledge a man was attacked in a park near a well known pub. Day 2 to today 2 men. Admitted their part in the shooting and they're set to go to jail for mostly was following the story and joins me now what happened last summer Paul well as he said it was literally almost a year ago that this happened it was towards the end of June early one Wednesday morning police were called to a park near a fact camp pub on Nelson Street to reports that a 19 year old had been shot in the back with a shotgun the man from London was treated at the Norfolk Kineret hospital and later released now at the time the chief constable said this kind of shooting in Norfolk was basically unprecedented It shocked the community living nearby but at the same time people living in the area that I spoke to they live near the park on Adelaide Street and they said it was becoming Natori S. For drug dealing and taking a trial began yesterday but it quickly came to an end this morning yes 2 men 18 year old Cal and a still and 26 year old Jake Britton appeared in orange Crown Court and they both deny charges of attempted murder the case finished though when the prosecution said it would accept pleas to lesser charges both admitted having a firearm with intent to commit robberies and possessing noids Britain also admitted a charge of attempted robbery they won't jail today oh no the judge adjourned sentencing until September the 9th that will give him time to go over reports on the 2 men and decide on what their ultimate sentences should be pulled thank you very much for joining us to Bird news now some good Martins whose nesting sites were covered with netting on the north Norfolk coast have now produced young which are about to leave their nests when the birds arrived that backed in from Africa in April huge nests have been put up ahead of work to build up the beach with new sand an outcry from the public and the R.S.P.B. Led to much of the netting being removed and the bird. Able to breed normally the T.V. Presenter and wildlife campaign a Chris pack and was one of those who protested against the netting He's been speaking to the B.B.C.'s Suzi found a lot so I think like so many other people across the country I'm absolutely overjoyed that we've seen a fruitful. Here with a sound Marston's They are delightful it's they've been declining across the country but here groups of individuals and N.G.O.s have come together for their rescue and it's paid dividends fantastic. Have you been surprised by the scale of the reaction when when those nets were open and the birds couldn't get 3 I wasn't really that surprised by the reaction I think that we are well aware now that wildlife is in rapid decline much of it and therefore in order to protect it we need to move rapidly and vigorously and that's what we saw in this incident where we saw people who were out why what happened and they pursued as rapidly as possible a solution and it's paid off and I think that increasingly we see a sophisticated public who know fully well that they have to protect at the last little bit of their biodiversity and that means looking after their own backyard and the people in this area have looked after their backyard and now it's splendid top work hats off obesity others would say there the work with that to protect homes and businesses what lessons do you think have been learnt from this I think that rather than rushing to schemes without public consultation or talking to people who are aware of how to look after a wild life and at the same time achieve those solutions which will protect people's interest is fallacious we need to have much better it's all a lot from the outset if the council had been speaking to the R.S.P.B. More formulaically if they consulted local people we would have come up with a solution which would offend if it but benefited both sides as it is they bust into something is probably cost a lot of public money on the enormous amount of sort of service so I hope that the violation ships are now in a slight repair because we need to be looking forward into the future we need to realise that we need those solutions which benefit the people at bottom line and as far as those butts a concern what happens now what happens to the babies and is there likely to be a 2nd bridge Well some Martens will double sometimes even triple fruit if they get started early that the earliest that are here and I include the swallows and Martins to evolve I think this group will probably Swart it from starting early so they Monia have one but it's a nice sunny summer and plenty of in. So 2 on one hopes all around the cliffs there so there is a chance that they'll have a 2nd of course the more the merrier they say long distance migrants that face all sorts of perils on that migration and have to return next year so yes fingers Costa but it's a delight that people can now walk onto the shore with that binoculars and watch these young fledging as I say this is a triumph of public will a little bit of activism and I hope we can work more call for Tiffany in future with not only this council but other councils to protect from these nesting outlay just which I unfortunately are all too common across our country so I today. Chris PAC I'm there with Susie found what we're going to mention the B. Word now because senior members of Nigel for are just bricks that party have staged a protest at the start of the new session of the European Parliament in Strasburg the party's 29 year old M.P.'s have turned their backs during the opening ceremony when the European Union's anthem Ode to Joy was played. Critics are accusing them of being petty digital Englanders but one of the cracks at parties newly elected Euro M.P.'s Claire Fox is defending the move it was done as a striking visual image of the fact that the British electorate says turned its back on the. National anthem song of course which I love as many Beethoven's is not to be used as a factor to stand the moment he was not states and therefore it makes a mockery of whole point of national sovereignty so that was all. Meanwhile the 2 conservative leadership contenders have been in Northern Ireland to address Tory activists outlining their plans for Bracks it both Boris Johnson and Jeremy Hunt are pledging to scrap of proposed Irish backstop if they become prime minister the trading arrangement part of to reason May's withdrawal agreement has been rejected by parliament and imposed on both sides of the Irish border Boris Johnson said the idea was a nonstarter what the backstop really represents is I'm afraid the hearings at the heart of the strategy that we been wanting to come out of the you supposedly whilst actually being prepared to stay in the Customs Union I mean for regulatory alignment when that is tantamount to coming out of the E.U. But being run by the Jeremy Hunt on the other hand argues that a solution could be found by using existing technology we have to negotiate a waiter. Solve any difference of opinion some arbitration mechanism that would resolve how you solve a situation where there's a disagreement about what technology can do but both sides agree that if technology can do this it's the way forward I believe it is and I don't actually think it needs new technology I think we can do it with the technology we have. There are fewer than 500 Conservative Party members in Northern Ireland but both candidates know the finding a solution to the Irish border issue is a key task for whoever becomes prime minister coming up on the program in after the travel in the next few moments we're going to be finding out about the knowledge para grandson I don't know if you've ever looked on the whole canal Trust website but you can click on a little feature on there the streams live from where the nest really are high up there at the cathedral on the spire and it's fascinating but somebody a keen watcher saw something that they weren't too sure off yesterday so we'll have that story in full in the next 5 minutes if you missed Sunday breakfast this way that you didn't hear the prince story part of the wrong or foot show we have been told to keep away from the cows and the horses in case we frighten them but the good thing about God is she's a vegetarian so she not will invite anybody or eat anybody but she is quite big of course so she could be great threatening or hear how the new sheriff of Norwich was getting on and how a month on my family don't come from the rich so they don't understand what the sheriff of knowledge might say when you ring them and you tell them you're going to be the sheriff what springs to mind is an American sheriff in a Midwest town so I think each individual burst out laughing I wasn't sure whether to be offended actually. But the good news is you can hear it all again B.B.C. Sounds a few more stories like those join me Antony Isaacs this Sunday morning from 6 here on B.B.C. Radio Norfolk your part of the baby say. B.B.C. Radio Norfolk travel 25 past 5 Lord are going is taking care of the roads and rail for us this evening well all lanes are back open on the 11 in atl bar at the stag roundabout after a crash earlier this afternoon it is still moving slowly though there's queues on the A 11 northbound that the A 134 heading out of that would nor It will. Tilting the liaison Chapel Road Back Lane because of an accident just north of the mortgage center and that's impacting travel traffic story between Park Row and Royden if you see anything or can update me call always 103897321 thank you Laura. It's the most popular soap opera in Norfolk you really want to hear the star of Eastenders there don't you don't we haven't got it now is this is run 3 years it's got thousands of people watching it and like any soap it has part murders family arguments and inspirational stories last night it had another cliffhanger it was a fire what did it well I'm talking of course about the North cathedral peregrine falcon family now many viewers became worried about them last night because they thought they had spotted a fire on the webcam feed Nigel Middleton from the hawk and our trust has been telling me the full story well what happened is a tweet or on social media blog come up and said the camera cable is burning in on the cathedral so it's part of a whole load of comments on online and consequently the fire brigade were called for some apparent reason they'd obviously got a hold over it the fire brigade to turn up at the cathedral and obviously I've just spoke to the cathedral estate manager actually he doesn't know anything about it but obviously someone must've contacted the cathedral to allow the firemen to get into the spire so they have their way up to the spire and went up to the 5th floor where the platform is and got the you know check OK was everything I obviously it wasn't on for I'm sure you didn't check the footage and just someone JUST SAW THE WRONG THING IN THE WRONG WRONG TIME Well what it was though the seal you know I was got a lovely light that shines up the spire to the nighttime and. It's an orange glow when there was a paragon set in there and it is rear ended its feathers or motionless orange glow and that was reflected on the cable it was still daylight I mean it's a 12 volt cable and if it caught fire one the camera wouldn't even working and it wouldn't of cause much damage anyway you know but and we have to build this fireproof cable so we're all very very conscious in terms of making sure having electronic equipment in there in sensitive areas like that with wildlife What's a precaution. Well we have to I mean the box and everything and all the cables have to be connected to the lightning conductor on the on the spot the height of the spa is very vulnerable to that sort of thing but we have to be very aware of the type materials we use and everything so that you know especially on a historic building there's no orange Cathedral you know 900 year old children would look very good on our watch or if burnt the home because we had done some silly I think what I think the lesson here is that it would be nice if people would actually have contacted us and we could have actually ever having the fire brigade come out and turn around and cause them because it's no mean feat climbing all those ladders and getting out you know that it's time that was wasted and it could have been averted by someone just saying actually I don't think it is that or contact the organelle trust but they didn't do that unfortunately they said just look at web cam in the cable is burning Well if you look at the picture and I mean it looks like the the Paragons more and farther what the difference is that this is a reflection although it does highlight though Nigel really nicely is that people are really caring about the welfare of these birds Oh they are yes there is that we're all full enough for them a little bit again a way how are they doing where we've got 3 fledged ones and they've they're doing very well actually. And in fact they have been honing their. Source of All Evil skills and. Friday last Friday we are. 21st of June we had a real funny incident because one of the youngsters decided that he was going to dive bomb a book about it that was in the territory of the buzzard ended up in the river when someone we had to rescue sent off the our streets a hostel and this is the bay bay as one of the baby over juveniles Yeah wow. So good well they're doing alright then by the sounds of yet they're doing well but doing well with a good season this year we had 3 chick for youngsters fledged and they are all very strong flies. Lots of activity between them and the parents some food passing and things like that sources said honing their survival skills before we have to go on the big wide world of self proud father Nigel Middleton there was the whole canal trust given the full story and the lowdown that if you want to follow the gossip that goes on out there the cathedral spire of these amazing birds the webcam just head over to the website it's hold and our will trust all one word dot org dot U.K. And that will you can find and click on there and it says knowledge Peregrine's can live cameras so click on that and you'll get a live feed from wherever you're sitting in the world amazing. Feel actually a bit sore and finally Great Yarmouth roller skater Emily Woods arrived in Barcelona ready for the world Rollergames around $4000.00 athletes are competing at the event in Spain the 20 year old who studies the is not to stick roller skates or with national titles to her name Emily says it's taken a huge dedication to get to that level I train all day the week a move and during the week OK taking as I do mornings 7 to allies so I do about 3 or 4 week asking Like 1000 I finished training like mostly every day and then I would do. She sounds absolutely stop Thank you Rob All right I think like that's how safe it is now I want to go and watch it market the time is a $536.00 You're listening to B.B.C. Radio Norfolk and a pair of workers at a chicken farm this have been sacked after a couple of film apparently showed birds being ill treated Clare Palma is the founder of the animal Justice Project she told Steve Martin about the images they captured Broome Grange farm tree farm we wanted to document the lives of the slow growing chicken which. He yeah the poultry industry Council being high Well there are cameras filming the placing of baby chicks there time on the farm but up until the touching of that 9 weeks old is. So absolutely do is probably the 1st of its kind because we've obviously got all. P.C.I.-E. Assured chickens in court by catching tames the trucks to go to the store to how often we've got you know some horrendous for stages catching pains things swearing throwing kicking and slamming chickens so hard into crates that the impact that she forces them out of this hole believe documented almost 500 chicks baby chicks dying in the 1st week one of the farms we've got. The kicking by workers during their roots Haydon daily so-called welfare checks we've got work is kicking but needing the money we've got the collecting birds who is seriously injured on Fed foals and breaking their necks brawling them on to the shed floor to literally convulsing flop off now this is strictly going to be always P.C. I got lines but we found breaches across the board on both these farms not to people when they buy their chickens and their meat from supermarkets they do look out for these labels which claim that food and malls are properly ridden brought up I guess you're suggesting from what you've described these labels don't really count for much I mean this is really what I wanted to show this part of in straight because you know look at the other on the cover investigations have focused on some of the more intensive so ideas the boiler industry but we wanted to show a snapshot of the lives of these so-called high welfare kids and to show people that was obvious of the labels we believe the public has been fed a lot by the industry and even other animal welfare organizations even though they you know think they're doing the right thing but making the slow growing breed so what's happened after this film. Shot has been shown and what do you want to happen since we should. The footage the R.S. P.C.A. Has spending its response one of the farms that we were filming up and also they have supposedly suspended the catching tames Well Tesco also suspended the farms that we believe they should be struck off entirely and they should close down because we don't believe that things are going to change the only way these people have been caught out these animals is because we've caught it on film. That's Claire Palmer from the animal Justice Project talking to reporters Steve Martin The supermarket chain Tesco has confirmed that it suspended supplies from the farm and has begun its own investigation the run by free range chicken limited and its director Harry one has told us that they shocked and distressed by the footage seem and will be taking allegations extremely seriously listening to B.B.C. Radio Norfolk Let's check in with the latest on the road. B.B.C. Radio Norfolk travel things quiet and down a bit now Laura they're not the accidents are continuing It's pretty wild out there with off to noon in Kings limiting some delays on Queen Elizabeth way west bound left for the night still roundabout because of an accident in Fakenham there's queues on Creek Road southbound that the $8.65 that's heading out of faking I'm told the rain I'm just off the rugby ground in Norwich Sweetbriar road southbound still very busy between Elizabeth Frye road and Durham road and it's still looking slow on the 11 a stag round about of the accident earlier if you see anything or can update me call our 803897321 thank you Laura. Yes you are very much and indeed our eyes and ears on the roads if you do spot anything that's unusual and she think we ought to know about it make everyone else's journey safe than if it's safe to do so and legal do pick up the phone to his it's 103897321 that's a free phone number to call from your mobile or your landline Time now for the money news and with me in the studio is Mark Proctor from Love will break in knowledge had a goody and I want to if you can we say good evening Yeah and we always make about that time here in the transit is when is dusk Yes So even if dusk here are never going on slight tangent here before we talk money I remember our local tip. That recycling center now we've just always called it the tip used to say it closed at dusk I mean I don't know when that is that there's actually a clock. Now we're talking crack open look like increasing dangers from cyber attacks on our data and our money something we should be worried about well I think it's something that we hear a lot about in the media it's certainly far widely far more widely reported than it used to be but a Freedom of Information request to the Financial Conduct of already revealed that the number of declared events ranged from 69 in 2017 to 819 in 2018 so they still seem like they're quite small numbers but when you remember that these are obviously the large financial institutions 60 percent of the reports submitted were by the large banking institutions and obviously as we all know our financial information is very valuable to criminals around the world so yes it's something that needs a lot of attention yeah so to watch out for this time yesterday we heard all about the debate over annoyed cities News sponsored in way we're Porter here and now gambling for are pledging to help addicts house that work and there's been a huge amount of criticism over a number of years on these large gambling firms that make you know substantial profits and actually it turns out that they have a voluntary levy on their own profits of point one percent what these large firms have said is that actually will increase up to one percent. We're still talking very small numbers yes I mean it's a significant increase obviously but yes you're right it's still actually really small compared to the amount of profit that they're making so they're saying that it will be a contribution of an additional 60000000 which again sounds like a lot of money but in terms probably isn't that large there's been a lot of talk from N.H.S. England about you know these companies should be led. All tax higher to help cope with gambling addiction except. Yeah it's a big issue I think teams are in a way stuck between a rock and a hard place because if you're offered a deal that is double the whole what you're going to get from something else then what do you do Strictly very difficult they have a lot of money to spend on advertising sponsorship and yes like you say what do you do salute scotch whiskey being targeted by new U.S. Tariffs Well are you do you like you know whiskey drinking myself oh you know I had a bad experience once and I found never to go back so many of us of so. We've heard so much about these U.S. Tariffs mainly affecting the Chinese market but they also announced in April that they were going to start looking at the goods and unfortunately one of those that is fallen under the radar is the Scotch whiskey exports Now I didn't realize this but it's actually just over 1000000000 pounds a year that gets exported to the U.S. The U.S. Is a huge market for Scotch whisky which I know you appreciate So this could be quite significant for for Scotland and oversee you know the U.K. In as a whole. It's a continuing journey with the U.S. At the moment they seem to be kind of almost hitting back then they various countries are not playing ball in their eyes so yes we need to watch this and see how this one pans out I was rather riding the wave on us and it all thank you so much for coming in and speaking to us as more Proctor from love well Blake in NORAD's the city today in the city today the Footsie close up $61.00 points to $7559.00 and the a travel money a pound will buy you $1.23 or one euro 9 making a euro worth $92.00 pence. Going to do a bit of horsing around now you've heard of the phrase straight from the horse's mouth yes of course the hair well the Norfolk horse sanctuary is getting involved in just that Redwings is collaborating with Aqua lab to create an app which offers real life horse noises they'll then be used in Hollywood movies famous horses I'd love it so it comes off the back of gripes by horse lovers that say the standard neighing used by filmmakers simply isn't realistic Well who better to look at a gift horse in the mouth than a very own Dr Doolittle. Horse whispering going on here actually we're going to see if we can get the horses to make some noises for us where down at the park in St homing center with Stephanie calland who's one of the team Red Wings of the morning so you're watching films and you think you know no no that sound doesn't sound right for that old horse would make a sound like that a lot of people have been complaining so quit lab come along and your part of the research team you were kind of yeah absolutely. OK. Yes No So what happened was that Ecolab run and question at approached us earlier this year there had been some comments and social media and in the press. About the fact that in films you don't often hear. Noises realistic noises of course it's always it's very very loud. Usually in 2nd senses where horses probably would be making those types of noises so they said why don't we try and do something about this increase the diversity of the noises that you hear. And so we partner with him in this competition which will allow real horse owners to record the noises of their real horses so. We are part of that judging panel and then we are hoping to do is submit. The winning sound to a Hollywood sound of life for it to be used in the past As for years to come really forever most residential Yes Absolutely we've got quite a number of horses in and stole here as well and you're right I mean they don't just know you know horses do communicate in quite complex number of ways these little body language and actually quite a lot of kind of soft noises like Nick uranium very same kind of software needing the kind of loud now you hear to say is only really you know don't use it too often they are prey animal the part I'm programmed to be quiet so it would be lovely to hear some of those other noises being used and they're essentially talking to each other as well they can communicate in a way yes pretty much yes so that noise you the really loud noise you had if you know if a couple minutes ago it's because we were just walking one of the horses around the stables here and they're all talking to each other going are you getting what's going on because they're instinct they're herd animal and so their instinct is to stay together so they were wondering what's going on well we always say never work with animals but we managed to get the sounds out and I don't know whether we can get one final night from one of you find horses in here always gone outside or he's gone gone to graze outside but. I think now that's it from Red Wings. About enough and my butt hurt enough that my some fantastic noises didn't like to think we may have some famous Norfolk horses on our films to come very exciting coming up before Well coming up at 6 o'clock we have our Choose the guest so every week with Matthew. As per usual there's a person of Norfolk note who comes on the radio and brings 6 bits of music it can be absolutely any genre 6 bits of music that been important to them throughout their life they may have had something to do with their career perhaps or something that just really like that was that you know growing up all the things like that it's a really nice faces so hopefully you can join us after 6 o'clock now our guest is Martin Eaton he's a sax oftenest and he plays a lot in East Anglia and his play professionally as well and dedicated a lot of his life to teaching and imparting some of his his knowledge to shoot and so I'm going to be really interested to hear his musical choices I have no doubt I'm going to enjoy them because being a bit of a jazz fan myself I play the trumpet in the John smart big band so I absolutely love my jazz music so fingers crossed as a few in there that we can enjoy the time is 10 to 6 Industry insiders say they're not confident whirlpool can track down thousands of faulty tumble dryer which have been blamed for hundreds of fires the government said in June it planned to issue a recall notice of up to $500000.00 whirlpool tumble drives which pose a fire safety risk the issue has become the subject of inquiry by M.P.'s on the Commons Business Committee Sue Davies from the Consumers Association which told him the problem could be even greater than anyone realizes. That we really don't have a clear understanding of what the problem is. If I can so my way that it's been handled in terms of 5 in terms of the response and then. In terms of the effectiveness of the modification. Or whether the $500.00 times. Is an accurate figure Charlie Parker from the London Fire Brigade said the variety of models available makes it hard to ident. If I which machines are faulty It's actually really hard research the models for consumers to identify what wishing they do have waited for say from well visit where we're going to the Huns trying to create a movable table where they've been asked off struggling around 25 percent told to identify the make and model but said they are not confident that Whirlpool based on their previous record would be able to track down the remaining faulty and unmodified machines and criticize the company for failing to publish a list of the defective models Gemma spur whose machine caught fire in her house also gave evidence to M.P.'s and described how she was left with nothing like a toddler toddler man who followed him followed me in the kitchen as I opened the door and saw the flames I had to grab him and get out and I had to get my son to grab my daughter out where would you describe whirlpools treatment of huge and discussed and when it carried out in the cost of preparation as well as a fellow criminal like all being questioned. She said the whirlpools treatment of her after the incident was appalling I felt like a way out well I felt like I was just another numbers you liar when it carried out in the cost of preparation as well as a fellow criminal I call being questioned Well Paul executive Jeff no insisted product safety was most concern for the company and apologized to Gemma the concern was that our worth of our coming contact were treated very fairly and so I apologize to you for whatever distrust the situation has caused to you or your family your loved ones he also said that Whirlpool had modified every machine brought to its attention but admitted the firm needs to do more we know we need to do more and in fact we have pledged to the O.P.'s service in writing our play and next steps to not only do more but explain. You communicate more because we think we have got to get to the remaining homes in which unmodified drivers exist. Well taking a look at the news that for the National whirlpool I hope that's not actually giving bad luck to the new white goods that I have just had to listen to my house we've just had a washing machine deliver it and I do hope it's going to going to behave itself the last time we had was 14 years old now I think that's quite good for for a white good do you think yeah I think I think that's pretty good song quite basic I go brand new one last ride has been plumbed in but you do feel for those customers of Whirlpool we've got the travel news coming up and then we'll be finding out what's happening after 7 o'clock for the evening shows this week there's one game in Norfolk where whether it's a win or loss you still get extra time every single week so. How do you feel go. On Sundays it may die you join me the question asked of the Treasurer question extra time where I find out more about some of the morning's locations catch up with Sophie and the treasure and hear your stories connected to the Dice Clay someone like that better not to run the cold and the years go by the right to convict treasure Quest extra time Sundays at 12 B.B.C. Radio Norfolk we have got some amazing programs on one of course is on a Tuesday night the game I'd say the best one back to our lawyer I would say look in for Phil De Lay for this week's the game well if you got our nominee going to be missing the actual big get we're not missing our Special have it film Well you are sorry the big game of the set the big guest your film filled very well tonight so get well soon well if you listen I'm sure he's not listening he's probably you know lying in bed or something better yet we are we are going to keep Don't worry we are going to keep across the big game England against USA throughout the evening especially between 9 and 10 because that's when we're really going to be right cross on our sports panel but for the 1st 2 hours Fear not there are some great any time we can build you up to the kickoff which is ita clock with a quiz that we have every week and this week we're going to be going back to one we did a few months ago a few mistakes well worth a listen and it's a women's football theme which is obviously very for tonight we've got the North City C.S.F. Ladies couple of ladies who played football managed coached on it all in the game against women who actually now a chorus some women there change their name recently so there's a little bit of a change there but they were 2 women they're now rocks and women may go head to head in our usual quiz for the game where we ask them it's all a bit of fun it's not it's not like a quiz like a pub quiz where you're actually it's not just Iran is no prize it's just fun you know what's the worst the way grown you've been out when I've been in a dressing room and had a manager throw a cup of hot tea at you I wouldn't Why's that but I thought so there's that and then the 2nd hour something a bit different as well we we were at the north shore of course last week the room of which I was should say bumped into Sophie Wessex by the way so I know it's a good idea to say out of Iraq Yeah she said. In for to knowledge though not make season she was happy yeah anyway you know we were there and me and Chris did a lot of scrimmage on Wednesday and Thursday and we're going to play out the one we did on Wednesday which featured some amazing guess we had Rob Newman the knowledge legend we had Grant the knowledge legend and we're Jeremy Goss the double knowledge legend with us for the whole for the whole hour so we were busy wasn't looking Oh I think this is it last week is our amazing thing it looks really everyone here people actually came to watch us which was amazing but we had a right laugh and got lots of interaction with the fans as well and also a grand whole Tell us all about his book Jeremy Goss is now back at the club quite rightly after a 10 year absence or why he's back at the club as an ambassador and it's always good to hear from Rob name one of are you ready for cop heroes and what he was for knowledge under-rated in many ways and he was there as well so that was great and then the final hour of the sports panel where we will obviously be reflecting what's happening in Leon England against USA and we've got 3 knowledge friends in a we're going to talk not just about Nori city but lots of other sports as well that's great Rob That sounds amazing thank you so no problem for coming in and telling us all about it just to tease ahead to tomorrow's program this is rather reflective really my my grandmother is 94 years old today and she's quite amazing as a producer Paul noted a few moments ago he says so she's got 6 years to go until she gets her picture from the queen Yeah well that be nice. So Grandma I just introduced it to grandma she has been diagnosed with dementia a cocktail of dementia she has vascular Mencia and out Simers and she's been attending some therapy groups come to their therapy groups and tomorrow I'm going to head out and go and see the people who who run those groups in you may have experienced something like that you may have family members who are going through a similar thing so I thought I'd like to bring a flavor of what it means to have to mention on the radio we do. A lot to mention here on B.B.C. Radio north because it's a really important topic to cover so that will be coming up on tomorrow's program in the next hour we have Mr Martin eterne with us he hasn't brought his saxophone but he has brought 6 rec ords to play for us and you're going to if you're a lover of jazz like I am you are going to really enjoy this next hour we'll find out all about his life where he's be here there and everywhere and looking into the future as well what excitement rebellions that excites and love it I know for news nor for. Farm one of the farm that we were filming out they have supposedly suspended the patch in. Tesco both and we believe they should be struck off entirely and they should close down because we don't believe that things are going to change the way the people have been caught up. Because we caught on film well who has admitted to that as many as $800000.00 of its tumble tries in homes around the U.K. Could be faulty in June the government said it would issue a recall notice phone to half a 1000000 drivers which pasted a fire safety risk but when pressed by M.P.'s The company executives sent the number could be much higher Charlie Pugsley is from the London Fire Brigade and said the variety of models available made it hard to identify which machines were faulty It's actually really hard with the models from. Washington I do have a far safer world this is where we try to. Even our stuff strutting around town to identify them like. More questions being asked about Norfolk's abilities to cope with a major flooding incident in light of events in Lincolnshire and busy performing here there and everywhere in and around our county tonight's guest is Martin eterne Hello how are you I'm very well thanks it's so nice to have you here in the studio I've been wanting to get you into do that through a long time and the tricky thing about getting musician in there of course is that you're only allowed to pick 6.
