Calling everyone to come out of breakfast on B.B.C. Radio Norfolk night some bright lights not a charge I parked my car. Fixed deposits called this morning it was pitch black and in 35 minutes we are live in a world like Express summarises at the moment I am absolutely loving it I feel I do if you've. Got winter is behind us and we are now emerging into spring and the lovely thing about that is a new law suite was unseasonably hot and we had a cooler weekend yes there was really rather drunken miserable the sun not the feeling of it is nice and light in the evening as well and you can start dreaming of dreaming of summer I love it on the program this morning a Christian from Norfolk says he's had to leave a slimming class because he felt it disrespected his religious views it's because they label some food as sin now that it's spelt with a Y. Instead of and. And you can hear my interview with him later in the program also talking nor City staying top of the Championship after a 31 win at Millwall at the weekend we'll have all the post match reaction for you throughout the program of this morning after 9 o'clock should transgender athletes be allowed to compete in male and female sports and also this growing feeling that you can actually speak out on certain issues transgender being one the fear of being labeled as being transferred big and there's a lot of people who are saying in the sporting industry this is ridiculous we can't have a fair and open debate about this because we feel as a pressure to endorse this even though we are against this so let's discuss that do you think that transgender athletes should be allowed to compete in male and female sports and this would be somebody who was born a male but now identifies as a woman competing in a woman's games or playing female tennis and and vice versa there's a lot of people who say this is absolutely crackers and could give people an unfair advantage that's the argument to discuss that after 9 o'clock on the big phone in as ever if you're joining us this morning to pick up the phone talk on over 803897321 if you're texting the program this morning text one triple 3 Start your message with the word Norfolk started network rates apply e-mail Conrad at B.B.C. Doc Don't you K. And get in contact with Nick Conrad apprenticed on Monday March the 4th. Straight into our top story this morning would you be happy to eat chicken there's been washed in chlorine or what about beef that's been pumped up with hormones What is a bit of a silly question to pose because a leading question of course is screaming at the radio no but this is what is happening in certain parts of the world and actually if you look at made. And the State of the meat in this country though is very high we import a lot of meat and are we entirely sure the conditions in which that meat is been reared and prepared for market Well there are a lot of campaign is saying this is something that we might have to get used to after Bret's it others are saying it's a scare story at the weekend the U.S. Ambassador said that if the U.K. Wants a trade deal in the future we might have to relax off food standards and the ambassador Woody Johnson says there's nothing to worry about he says U.S. Farming methods are more efficient and safe and that we've just been fed scare stories his comments went down like a cold bucket of chlorinated chicken when they were put to the National Farmers Union met batter's is the president of the N.F.U. Farming on different planets we are managing as British farmers to produce food affordable food for British consumers that they won't you know every single piece of research when you talk to shoppers they say they want to maintain the welfare standards all we're saying is the U.S. Has to produce food to the same standards as Norfolk is famous for its poultry production and after 7 we'll be hearing from one of the county's top free range and organic producers I'll also be speaking to the layby Euro M.P. From Norfolk Alex Mayer she says everything has to be done to keep the standards that we have set over parts of the world including the United States they produce food differently and what I'm worried about is that when the U.K. Goes will only be a 10th of the solely in terms of the market we've got and therefore I think it's going to be so important to redouble our efforts to make sure that in a kind of big scramble to get trade to break we're going to make sure the animal welfare and food safety standards are not compromised so are you worried about beef that's had extra hormones pumped in or chicken that is washed in chlorine the Americans say it's the best way of killing off bacteria like salmonella and they say their methods are more efficient and better for the environment and. I have actually seen arguments that their levels of salmonella and those reporting as a percentage are lower than here in the U.K. Plus there's the fact that millions of chickens and stakes are eaten quite happily by Americans every single day without an issue so if they don't have a problem why should we is this just a scare story or would you say that our food standards in this country are high and that's something that we should not compromise on and they're high for a reason because we don't put rubbish fuel in our cars so why do we put rubbish fuel in our bodies Further to that there and I think this is the key point that we should go out this morning is there a sense of hypocrisy here because yes we talk about what we might be exposed to post breaks it but what about what we're exposed to now there's a lot of meat which is sourced morale in the world and we're not entirely sure about the standards of the quality in which that meat is read and then slaughtered and then prepared for market within Yes we say that we've got a certain benchmark in place and yes of course there are certain rules British rules and E.U. Rules that have to be adhered to but in the International Food Market things of course will come into our market especially food that is cheap that may not have exactly the same kind of standards as we have here in the U.K. And very often we love to say by British by British by British which you know 100 percent support but then people walk down to the supermarket and they'll buy 3 chickens for a tenner and where are they being read well who knows and there's a lot of accusations that across the European block that people of course are are have to adhere to these rules but the inspections and the checking is not always up to scratch and if you disagree with that then would you kindly explain the horsemeat scandal to me over 803897321 if you join in the conversation this morning are we whipping up a storm here are we getting very excited about this when actually we only just calm down and have a look at this and assess this in a far more practical way. Maybe the American ambassador is right when he says listen they worry about it yes we do wash our chicken in chlorine Yes beef might be pumped with certain hormones but you might be exposed to that in lots of different things anyway and therefore what is the big deal is a sense of hypocrisy here or maybe you're saying no no no no we have these high standards for a reason and we must keep these high standards 803-897-3215 the way if we want to keep these high standards then we should be looking at it banning other things out of the market as well there are other things that we are exposed to other things that we consume which have been linked through research in terms of over consumption some pretty nasty conditions or maybe carcinogenic and so on so therefore we should probably go on a on a a real tightening a real regulation drive which actually make it very difficult to strike trade deals across the world and here comes the other thing we love to have a crack at the Americans we'd love to have a crack at the E.U. We'd love to have a crack at Westminster but no politician is ever sat on me and forced me to eat a chicken so surely we can say well look we can educate ourselves understand where the meat is coming from and we can say we're not going to eat that if it's imported into the country because if you go to a supermarket it's quite clear very often where the meat comes from if you actually have a look on the back of it or you go to the butcher you can make a consumer's choice and if the consumers choice is not to eat this kind of meat then in the end the day they will be importing into the U.K. 080-389-7321 or do we need the regulation to protect us is that exactly what it's there for and it's rather optimistic to say that people will be able to make an informed choice we all know that we're going to go for the cheapest steaks and therefore it is the government's duty and the Food Standards Agency Judy to make sure I mean the best that's put in front of the British gob 803897321 if you're joining us. At breakfast on B.B.C. a job start raising money but my mother was pretty chaotic and knew how to everyone an individual $300.00 quick steps to please nonstop you know 100 dollars to 72 hours now Hi I'm Jenny from next door I'm making cakes it. One. Can you guess what's back on television tonight. He wants to be a millionaire. A OK. Great thing cheer him up it stresses me out the whole show with all the tension music oh yeah I can really enjoy it I just get stressed so the 1st 1000000 question is in more than a decade tonight when the show returns for a new round the unnamed contestant an English teacher leaves host Jeremy Clarkson astonished by 14 questions correctly to reach the final one the Sun columnist clocks are Marines directly from the Sun newspaper 58 and also a tricky 1000000 pound question about British prime ministers. To be on the spot at that point are being good at that I mean I would have got 14 other right but out of power bottom on that one. What's the question I think it says what question was probably is a fabulous player it was extraordinary gameplay. The contestant from Birmingham uses all 4 life lines including ones tackle the 2000 pound question at the beginning and separately ever was like This guy's not very well but in the end. He came in you want to take it on it's a cliffhanger there became a good you got a chilling tonight I.T.V. To find out it's back Alfred. Chase when the early game shows I ever watched him when the nation was on tenterhooks Chris Tyrese I think I so love exists every 2 nights and they say his Today she's on 500000 pounds she just answer this question but I'm not going to tell you if she got it right you've got a shooting tomorrow on I.T.V. Don't forget the lyrics as they are yes yes OK that's what I think you did very well on that all right which one would you go IMO I was just thinking about this. Really difficult I like that I mean I'm kind of drawn to the crystal my start of things but I want to pick the same as Katie I'll go with Marcus sweet Yes a lot of love to go into markets with 3 hearts least that is actually a quiz on like to Casey's counsel. Yeah the average is actually chords maybe blockbusters that she pulls you over physical challenge rather than actually going to get. There was one that I saw is a Japanese one where every bit of state Chong that we took in a. Place to come and just Google it they were fucking big and there was one with me saying. I had to write your body so I did a page to the Alpha and the explosives in the pitch. Some of it is like take a wife back inside an injured warrior if you die I would 10373 to one of the joining us this morning which I wish you. Did there guys the dramatic ending the rest I should have been ways for the knowledge here in this I think it is out but yes are awful nice to talk about the craft Why didn't I give it talk to me why why Chairman Clarkson aren't you kind of a big deal. Too big for that yes 6650 the seas around Norfolk a busy and the ships that carry passengers and freight create noise below the surface of the water for the 1st time scientists in last off have made a map of the hotspots around our coastline by recording Audioboo low the waves This is fascinating there are theories that the amount of underwater noise can affect our marine life by changing feeding habits and disrupting communication this is another brilliant story by the way from inside out with David Wiley on B.B.C. One because that's night at $730.00 you've got to watch this this study shows that even some whales have a depth adapted to their surroundings by communicating at a higher pitch than they did in the 1950 S. Davis got the story. That's the sound of the North Atlantic right whale recording was made in 1956 by the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution in the U.S. . And this is a recording of the same species of whale made by Syracuse University in 2005. Scientists believe the whales are having to communicate at a higher pitch to be heard over shipping noise under the water now scientists in the U.K. Trying to get an idea of the scale of underwater noise created by ships around the British Isles with me is scientist Nathan merchant from sea fast or the Center for Environment fisheries an agriculture science we'll just stick to see for us. This shipping noise have on field and other marine life well the kind of effects that we're concerned about are things like masking which is where noise might get in the way of communication signals that marine mammals use underwater also things like behavioral responses so our animals avoiding areas where there's a lot of noise or are they changing their behavior when the ships come along after years of research and recording the sounds under the sea the scientists at sea fast have thousands of hours of this. Sound like a washing machine. That's actually like that that's the propeller has something wrong with your washing machine but you know that that frequency we can hear that repeating is there the propeller. So those measurements that we've taken we combine those with ship tracking data and produce models of the underwater noise levels in U.K. Waters and surrounding seas so these red hot spots are where the noise levels are highest as you might expect that biggest hot spot right here is the Dover Strait which is one of the busiest shipping lanes in the world but we also have some hot spots in other parts of the U.K. And this is just the beginning of their research the next step is to see which species of marine life are affected the most by these shipping noise hotspots. Dave is going to be on the program after half past 7 this morning to talk about that brilliant report. Nor should he stop their week at the top of the championship again after the weekend's win at Millwall leads one on Friday night meaning they swap places with not for a few hours but we're back at it again on Saturday and the fans packed into the away end of the New Den to cheer on the boys and it was a business like display from Daniel Fox's team rival has worked it out to the left wing and found Jamal Lewis also had 9 days to see plenty of money on corner of the area to point B. At an undecided to the planetary could score Great say for the goalkeeper prepare for Steven to get into the Knights the roar from the $3000.00 large city supporters now is heard around the Den What do you see sort of on the right Zimmerman's head I understand that incidents Christophe's against us League only of the year and Laura city I think no more of their own game mandates spins away from Romeo has done well because it was the halfway line fine point to a point there through the middle looking for picky topic is going away from you to defend his.
