Climate conference in Poland finalize the deal measures to minimize global warming and its consequences such as rising sea levels and catastrophic weather Jevon environment environment minister says having common rules is critically important to just saying no we have to reduce and we say no how what are the rules for. That is really really important that this our responsibility to take this planet one where we could live this generation has to deliver and we now set how we deliver after 2 weeks at tough negotiations there was a final agreement to rule book to govern the cause it includes the critical issue of how countries report a measure that carbon dioxide emissions some issues that can be resolved were put back to allow you to date but Camilla born from the environmental thing. A 3 G. Says the deal is a significant step forward to seeing countries come together they've responded to the science they haven't done enough but they have done what's possible here they've lent and they've agreed some rules and they've set themselves a job to go home and do more on work out what they're going to do in gauging the best citizens that this is their investors to say how can we take more climate action. The good challenge agreement aims to deliver the goals of limiting global temperature rises to well below 2 degrees Celsius Dr Chris Jones from the university magisters Climate Research Center says delegates should have been more ambitious with that figure it's what the UN kind of agreed it's been the threshold for dangerous climate change and that's actually contentious because for a lot of parts of the world 1.5 degrees and. Then you're sort of as it carries. Very serious risks for them well last minute rounds of a carbon markets threaten to derail the meeting and in the end it was delayed by a day Representatives from 196 countries took part in the talks the agreement means that the Paris climate pact from 3 years ago can now become a prey tional in 2020. Or ask about fasting when it comes to Ramadan without shame or Hussein carried out the research she specializes in how religion and culture affects health service provision Good morning Dr Hassan Good morning Anthony this is quite shocking that even within a medical environment the Muslim mothers are feeling this particular way I mean we know that the parents want the best for their children but not even feel confident about approaching medical stuff by this that this is really concerning it is really and is and that's what was interesting about this research is the fact that these women are lacking this confidence and we don't realize how much of an impact that you know negative media assumptions are creating for these women this is the thing that comes time and time again I said in my introduction about the the media with its portrayal of Muslim with Muslim women but equally the Muslim community as a whole and I know when I speak to Muslims here in Norfolk that that is becoming such a regular theme now that because of the negative portrayal in society as a whole it's actually causing these kind of things to go on is so true so true and it's not even supported when we have also further negative comments that created by you know by politicians as well you know the likes of you know in the past like Cameron they would come and talk about Muslim women don't pass a language test they have to be sent out the U.K. It's almost like they're making them feel as if the alien within the society so how can we help with this because there are clearly things around things like Ramadan Ramadan in terms of fasting they don't have to of course but in terms that they can make them but equally they do some women do like to do like to do it if possible but also very practical things are asking to see a female doctor because of not feeling comfortable with with male doctors. Yeah I mean one of the important things about maternity care has come a long way in the U.K. And we talk about quality and quality cares about the care that is you know personally you know for those individuals and the basis for that is effective interactions and it's about making women feel empowered to be able to speak and be part of their own decision making full of their own overall health so it's important for healthcare professionals to be mindful of these factors that can influence the woman's confidence actually speak up and be part of that decision making but we all have to be part of that to me the daughter has because I'm thinking I can hear medical professionals going great something else that I now have to think about where it's actually you know. In terms of priority of care it just feels like we're over burning them with Ace whereas actually shown to be a wider societal thing where where we're looking at ourselves and saying actually as a whole society are we welcoming these women in welcome actually enabling them to talk about things that they may be concerned about yes yes I think you're absolutely right I think it's the it's a society as a whole will also for health care professionals it's not where the research is not actually trying to tell health care professionals this is a To Do list and not to do list kind of think I know the health care professionals have got a lot on their plate but it's about having this cultural competency to be able to be encompassing and being aware of the differences that are out there and some of the factors that can influence omens and you know I'm confident in speaking for example you speak about Ramadan we know that in the calendars that we can see that Ramadan is coming so one of the things that you know health care professional can do is just to say oh by the way you know Ramadan is come along how are you finding that you know and that actually helps the person to say OK is this is this understanding there that gives them the confidence to actually speak about it rather than actually waiting for you know for them to speak themselves. You could take yesterday and throw that away as big a horrible horrible Oh it was so horrible I got drenched just from the walk from the car to the train and just because I just couldn't warm up the rest of the day it was just horrible Yes today quieter you'll be pleased to hear it is chilly though he stepped out this morning is that yes it is yeah they're down to about 2 or 3 Celsius but once the day gets going I think most of us will get to see some bright even sunny spells there will be a little bit of cloud around at 1st but that should break up clear a way to give us all some sunshine particularly as we head through the middle part of the day and into the early part of the afternoon will start to see a bit more cloud work its way in as we approach this evening it looks like a largely dry story as well and the winds gradually easing down as we head through the afternoon temperatures today we're looking at highs of 8 Celsius that's 46 Fahrenheit so a little better than yesterday now as we head into this evening will gradually start to see the cloud increase and then through. Of the morning it looks as I will say a spell of showery rain but that will clear eastwards and it should have cleared most areas by dawn on Monday morning but it will leave behind quite a bit of cloud temperatures overnight dipping down to lows of around one Celsius so it will be chilly in some spots particularly out in the countryside so one of the chilly starts to Monday morning and there will be some cloud to start the day but that should gradually break up through the morning to allow for bright or sunny spells to emerge and many areas will hang on to those during daylight hours we may just start to see the cloud creep into western areas before the end of play and it will turn a little bit breezy as we head towards the evening temperatures tomorrow we're looking at highs of around 7 Celsius that's $45.00 in height the coastal forecast in the washer on to heritage which is valid until mid day light rain wind force 7 wind direction south south east maximum gust 44 knots becoming 43 knots sea state rough pressure 1005 millibars visibility moderate good becoming good m l culls with your B.B.C. Of promises this morning she's wondering about wondering. If we're to believe the song that's played in every shop we visit at the moment we are in the most wonderful time of the year advent the lead up to Christmas can be a magical time full of anticipation and excitement let's not dwell on how stressful it can be with his endless lists of things to do and by and post and bake but concentrate instead on what makes it so wonderful. Thinking on these Sunday mornings about some of the promises made in the Bible concerning the arrival of Jesus. Speaking 700 years before the 1st Christmas wrote he will be called Wonderful Counselor mighty God Everlasting Father prince of peace according to the dictionary to wonder is to have feelings of amazement and admiration caused by something or someone beautiful remarkable or unfamiliar most of the time we kind of dumb down its meaning saying things like I wonder what I'll get for Christmas or I wonder if it will snow in a culture where so many very ordinary things are described as Awesome our sense of what is truly wonderful may be distorted. I wonder has not only that sense of admiration but also includes the elements of surprise my little granddaughter has a way of saying wow when she sees something for the 1st time and through her eyes I'm reminded that some things really are worth a closer look I wonder see what I did there whether the shepherd said a collective wow when they found a baby lying in the place they usually reserved for the spotless perfect Passover Lamb It must have been confusing as well as amazing that they were chosen to be witnesses of it and what of the wise men tracking their way through the desert in search of the prophesied new king they cannot possibly have imagined they would find a baby at the end of their journey was that it's another wound. As we go into another week let's try to remember that it's Jesus who is called Wonderful at this most wonderful time of the year. And if you've missed any of Jane's thoughts and Advent series you can always us again by the B.B.C. Sounds just visit B.B.C. Taco to EK forward slash sounds or damaged the app onto your phone when I had it was going behind the scenes I just had to go along as well to take a closer look at the organ that stands at the top of the naive and join organist David David thank you so much for letting us behind the scenes here at the cathedral we're standing in front of a very narrow staircase but not as narrow as the other staircase to the top of the organ that's true there are 2 staircases and this is the wider of the 2 and the otherwise a bit straight of it is much narrower so we can use both but we don't use this one because it's the quickest way up right let's head on up there and. Quiet state bans close around a couple of times and then you come up into the main area above the choir stalls and here is the magnificent organ of Norwich Cathedral David just take us through this well this is the 4th largest cathedral organ in the country has over 6 and a half 1000 pipes ranging from 32 feet in length to the size of a pencil it's an organ it was rebuilt in the 1940 S. After a disastrous fire in $1038.00 during a search service which mostly destroyed an organ that had been brand new in $8099.00 so this one dates now from $142.00 with wanted to additions and alterations over the years I know that people will be intrigued as to lowest and highest note on this so can we. Hey the lowest and highest note Yeah I'm not sure whether the the microphones will pick up the very lowest ones because they're very rumbly But this is going down the hill. Get this you can you can feel that your yes Card Yeah I know when I come over there the other one that will come over is the reed stop which is the equivalent pitch. So that's the same pitch is the little bit but it's a reed making the noise rather than just a pipe vibrating so the very thing is really to get on that doesn't and then the other end what have we got the other end of the pipes that go up to the size of a pencil or the speaking length is even smaller than that are very wittily and the older we get the less we can hear so squeaking away right up there I can only just like dog whistles I mean everything in between yes the whole lot so how do you go about choosing what to do when it comes to him and me yes certain types of organ music may have been written in a certain era when certain types of organ were being used and so the composer might be quite specific about the sounds he would like and then other music you can choose your own sounds but within the style you would know what you might use so in terms of hymns for the cathedral obviously we play them quite loudly with big the course is what we call in the main sounds for the organ so you can get a good lead down in the cathedral but there's an enormous wealth of soft stops which you use for expressive music and loud stops for you know more transient stuff so there's a huge range sometimes specified on the music sometimes not you just user experience now there's one stop here David that I'm not very familiar with the octave the Koran plays the kind it is there's one who caught the simple steps in Boston yes it's a. North European gadget on the block organs OK I want to try to. Help . So that's what you've used Well we mean in the old days you know it was used to boss could have had one on his own and it would have been used at Christmas on top of coral preludes they were often quite quiet and rather silvery sort of sound and they used to work with egg going up through a fan and the families attach a little drum in which was placed a number of little bells which would rotate around. Things and so they make a lovely quiet silvery sound which would be you know played on top of a car all prettied on a Christmas theme so I was a little bit more robust than that because it's a series of electric bells and a starting on the front of the case which is visual but doesn't pretty connected to them and they just sort of ring in sequence apparently when it was 1st put in in the late ninety's sixty's it was run on a windscreen wiper motor from a car but it's now a little bit more power on it and so it really you can sort of sound above a lot of the organ and it's great for the kids at Christmas they love looking at it it's going as though it was an absolutely fantastic instrument to sit on and they would tell me all about the history and the pipes and think about the organ appeal that's happening it's going to be restored by the company and Darren who are actually doing all the restoration so lots of the pipes and lots of the keys and the mechanics behind all of that are heading up to Darren to be restored in a raising money for the organ appeal and also for some scholarships within music so ready music putting at the heart of northeast and the concrete the true well as you can imagine I couldn't wait to sit on the stove that David was on the set I nudged a lot. Right on down. The long lean mean Mel and it's just it's just as a mystery. I mean just sound it's own odd to me. You know like when you sit. Around and wait there. With a few If the notes in there I think. But not too bad considering it's about 5 years since I was playing on a real real privilege and my thanks to to David's for really the for that it's really taking around they want to give me some history about and we'll follow that journey as all those pipes and everything get restored him or I will see what actually happens with it will be really interesting to say I want to take out from fast then I. Am sick of curb or in my. Feet a song Brown. I'm tired of thorn in. Some reserves or shine anxious sometimes I'm down on Mondays sometimes i Chat away maybe my sick give it is so I won't wear make up and thought that. The Arab is in my. And anything like.
