Taking away a knife that he was holding walking down the street with that trying to get people to move away and then a final assailant if you like trying to stop this man attacking anybody was dragged off him by the police so they could shoot him and one of our eyewitnesses said that she saw as his coat the man on the grounds coat came apart some sort of a vest which looked a bit like a suicide vest or a bulletproof vest where the police have said it was a hoax explosive device not a real one and so that's what we know in the 1st instance about what happened but what we've been trying to find out for much of the day since. And will continue to do so overnight is firstly who this man is and work is ongoing on that but secondly what was happening in the 5 to 10 minutes before this attack ended with the police shooting and we now know that next door to that part of London Bridge there's a building called fishmongers hall where there was a criminal justice event attended by dozens of people including students from Cambridge University and former prisoners and we've been told that at least one young woman was stabbed at that event and that that was then linked to what happened outside so I think it's possible this man somehow got into the events that perhaps people fought him off followed him outside and tried to stop him continuing the attack there the police are saying very little presser today. Said that it was being treated as terrorism and that the police will be working full to tilt and that the cordons that are in place in this part of central London will be here for some time and where will the investigation go from here well these things always start small and go out wide so it starts with his body what's on his body a phone anything else. That identifies him anything else that tells us you know what his motivation might be and from there obviously all the eye witnesses and c.c.t.v. They'll be a load of c.c.t.v. From cameras in the area and they'll also be looking at did he travel here by car did he get in a taxi did he go buy a cheap Can they track his journey using an Oyster card the travel card for London that sort of thing but from there on they'll be looking at who knows him what's his network of friends and relations where is he from and from there Did anybody help him did anybody know about this attack is anybody else involved and are there others who might be planning some something similar linked to him so that is the general sort of progression of these sorts of terrorism incidents as the days go on and you can be sure that those investigations will involve not just counterterrorism police the metropolitan police in the city of London police but also m I 5 and you know even government communications that sort of thing so an awful lot of work to be done I understand that the police got to the scene relatively quickly within a minute or 2 of the incident evolving on London Bridge was there by happenstance or with other words I think they were with the police say the Metropolitan Police say they were called to an incident at a premises a building nearby which we think might well be this fishmongers hall building which is a sort of city livery guild and that if given that the call was about knife attacks I think then you can be sure that an armed response would be put in place it is in the center of London there are a lot of armed units on standby in central London for this sort of thing both the standards specialist firearms officers but also somebody who is called counter-terrorism especially as far as officers who are trained at higher level to particular to take on attackers with guns and that you know as you say they were there very quickly it's also possible that there were plain clothes police off. So the guys that were there were just amazing absolutely incredible people heroes beyond belief the police were there within minutes which is incredible and they started to drive us a lot of all of us off and that's when you see the guy that has the knife with the suit he's overseeing found an artist been dislodged kind of went down the down the side of the pavement he's picked it up take it away just wanted to make sure that that's all we had I want to make sure that we dislodge that so he can harm anybody else bash the police or drag him off he rolls on t.v. And that's when they scream bomb so we know is that he's wearing a bomb vest of some kind of some sort of bomb. Device connected to and that's when everyone starts to step back and my long green color in all the videos I've just realized this very obvious.
