Radio. This is. Coming up in this program in a moment we'll bring you what we know about the attack in London Bridge yesterday afternoon also we're going to be talking to night and into tonight about what's on the back pages of the morning papers we'll find out just how much trains. Go up by the annual increase of January and of the New Year we know exactly. How much you'll be paying extra And also we'll talk about the train driver strikes that will affect the Christmas period and will give the week's news show an East African have been some serious flooding there is you might know and for our Wolf Wolf out in in an hour's time when we open up the phone lines it's Europe and South America that we're talking about and players from over there playing in Arlington also managers from over there playing in our league because this could be a really decisive weekend for managers from both South America and year of Feel free to join us in Texas from now 185058 The Metropolitan Police says the man suspected of killing a man and a woman at London Bridge on Friday afternoon lived in Staffordshire 3 others men and 2 women were also injured and remain in hospital they say the 20 year 8 year old who was shot dead by police on the scene after being pinned down by passers by 4 in the stabbings was known to authorities haven't been convicted in 2012 for terrorism offenses the police say he was released from prison in December 2018 on license Speaking ahead of a Cobra emergency committee meeting held late on Friday evening the prime minister said the approach to releasing dangerous inmates needed to change I have long argued that it is a mistake to allow serious and violent criminals to come out of prison and it is very important that we get out of that habit and that we enforce the appropriate sentences for dangerous criminals especially the terrorists. Police are carrying out searches and an address established this morning they say the attacker believed to be around attended the learning together event at the fishmonger's hole where the attack started the attacker was wearing what appeared to be a suicide vest belated turned out to be fake the mayor of London City Carden praised the people who intervened for their breathtaking heroism the Labor leader Jeremy Corbin has given his reaction shocked deeply shocked by what has happened because people have died as a result of this and the place offices put themselves in harm's way to try to protect the public as did other members of the public. And I think we have to have to show respect to all of those 3 people were also taken to hospital the London Ambulance Service says one is in a critical but stable condition another is stable and the 3rd has less serious injuries the commissioner of the Metropolitan Police Cressida Dick said cordons would remain in place on the streets around London Bridge while the police investigate what happened in the coming days you will see more police both armed and unarmed patrolling our streets to help reassure those who are understandably. Similarly our counterterrorism detectives will be working around the clock to identify those who have lost their lives to support all the victims and their families on the bridge was the scene of another attack on the 3rd of June in 2017 in which 8 people were killed and many more injured this latest attack comes after the U.K.'s terrorism threat level was downgraded on the 4th of November from severe to substantial meaning the attacks were thought to be likely rather than highly likely the terror threat level is reviewed every 6 months by the Joint Terrorism Analysis Center which makes recommendations independent of government Chris Phillips is a former head of the National Counterterrorism Security Office Of course if this is an individual that's going on and done this on his own with no other backup then then he could easily do that without any without the place knowing anything about it so it is one of those things if that is the case if this is a lone actor that decided to go and do this on his own very very difficult for the place to ever stop that in a few moments we'll hear from someone who was there but earlier I asked our correspondent Tom Simons to describe what happened we know from the pictures in the accounts of witnesses right away really seconds after it happens a man on the ground surrounded by. A big group of passers by some who described trying to kick his head and his body to try and stop him carrying out an attack another man who was. Taking away a knife that he was holding walking down the street with that trying to get people to move away and then a final assailant if you like trying to stop this man attacking anybody was dragged off him by the police so they could shoot him and one of our eyewitnesses said that she saw as his coat the man on the grounds coat came apart some sort of a vest which looked a bit like a suicide vest or a bulletproof vest where the police have said it was a hoax explosive device not a real one and so that's what we know in the 1st instance about what happened but what we've been trying to find out for much of the day since. And will continue to do so overnight is firstly who this man is and work is ongoing on that but secondly what was happening in the 5 to 10 minutes before this attack ended with the police shooting and we now know that next door to that part of London Bridge there's a building called fishmongers hall where there was a criminal justice event attended by dozens of people including students from Cambridge University and former prisoners and we've been told that at least one young woman was stabbed at that event and that that was then linked to what happened outside so I think it's possible this man somehow got into the events that perhaps people fought him off followed him outside and tried to stop him continuing the attack there the police are saying very little presser today. Said that it was being treated as terrorism and that the police will be working full to tilt and that the cordons that are in place in this part of central London will be here for some time and where will the investigation go from here well these things always start small and go out wide so it starts with his body what's on his body a phone anything else. That identifies him anything else that tells us you know what his motivation might be and from there obviously all the eye witnesses and c.c.t.v. They'll be a load of c.c.t.v. From cameras in the area and they'll also be looking at did he travel here by car did he get in a taxi did he go buy a cheap Can they track his journey using an Oyster card the travel card for London that sort of thing but from there on they'll be looking at who knows him what's his network of friends and relations where is he from and from there Did anybody help him did anybody know about this attack is anybody else involved and are there others who might be planning some something similar linked to him so that is the general sort of progression of these sorts of terrorism incidents as the days go on and you can be sure that those investigations will involve not just counterterrorism police the metropolitan police in the city of London police but also m I 5 and you know even government communications that sort of thing so an awful lot of work to be done I understand that the police got to the scene relatively quickly within a minute or 2 of the incident evolving on London Bridge was there by happenstance or with other words I think they were with the police say the Metropolitan Police say they were called to an incident at a premises a building nearby which we think might well be this fishmongers hall building which is a sort of city livery guild and that if given that the call was about knife attacks I think then you can be sure that an armed response would be put in place it is in the center of London there are a lot of armed units on standby in central London for this sort of thing both the standards specialist firearms officers but also somebody who is called counter-terrorism especially as far as officers who are trained at higher level to particular to take on attackers with guns and that you know as you say they were there very quickly it's also possible that there were plain clothes police off. This is in the area that sort of thing is going on all the time a lot of watching of people who might be on the record for terrorism attacks or will be about to carry them out is something the police do a lot of these days of course when a Tom Simons Well 5 Live Drive and a forced to Stevie's her who is at the scene on the London chill guides and ma'am I'll call them we are on our way to a job in Liverpool Street and we were stuck in the traffic on and off at the only 2 classic Mini Vestal in the fridge but we saw just that sort of handful of people running away from from a direction just the left of us on the left hand side from south to north and I don't know why but I felt compelled to jump out of the car to go and see what the situation was and we saw a guy being so the caustic to the floor so I was he ran over there to be able to guide on and the guys were just screamin he stopped a couple of women I'm guessing from the balls of the the fish monger's ball that was just there was just being spoken about his life now. So they were screaming not sure everyone was just on top of him trying to bundle him to the ground and you know we saw the Nyquist in the canyons covered in blood and he saw the not just in the hand so you know I just prefer in trying to connect the truck we're trying to do as much as we could to try and dislodge the knife from time to anyone else. So the guys that were there were just amazing absolutely incredible people heroes beyond belief the police were there within minutes which is incredible and they started to drive us a lot of all of us off and that's when you see the guy that has the knife with the suit he's overseeing found an artist been dislodged kind of went down the down the side of the pavement he's picked it up take it away just wanted to make sure that that's all we had I want to make sure that we dislodge that so he can harm anybody else bash the police or drag him off he rolls on t.v. And that's when they scream bomb so we know is that he's wearing a bomb vest of some kind of some sort of bomb. Device connected to and that's when everyone starts to step back and my long green color in all the videos I've just realized this very obvious. And we will step back and that's when the end he tries to get to the funny thing is when we were kitchen holding him to the ground the guy was just totally screaming help me get off me as if everyone was just going to let him go and do anything but we wanted to make sure that he's never going to do it again until their home another single human being on this planet the police put 3 rounds into his chest for me and he still lying on the floor put in the coat over him to try and keep himself warm knowing that he's about to die he's reaching around free I wish Relayer found out they had a gun that starts screaming around the room son screaming to go is going to go gun so we then proceed to the other side of the bridge so more towards she could see Tower Bridge off in the distance and then all of a sudden gone all gunshots I see an explosion and then all of a sudden another 10 shots ricocheting everywhere because I my mind said he's not he's on he's got friends and that's when everyone started to run for their life seems to be the video that I just watched on the 6 O'Clock News group of people who were around him you saying you would you would literally one of the group yes the guy with a green card he's got a very long green card something like out of quarter feigning like a mole the mold jacket. One on one of the guys standing l.r. You know I don't profess to be anything odds I just don't need to want to be involved the Troyan apprehend this guy after hearing the 2 already 2 people. And I mean how many of you were there at that time on a no you can see pictures of this great book but how many were around he was he ran towards the danger instead of the why there was only half there was only a small handful of people that were already on him and then a couple of more people intervened than you know 99.9 percent majority wanted to get away from the danger which I can truly understand you know and I look back at my action now and I'm thinking I must be absolutely nuts so one of all day involved and wanted to try and help the situation there was a fire hydrant that there was to use that from the trapper and maybe knock him out was another guy with a still like a message because I know it got this from but they were just trying to do everything they could they were everyone just work together do you want to try and stop this guy to try to apprehend him for as long as possible so the police did it in vain and they were there as amazingly in a swiftly as a big risk just commendable to be sure I mean Stevie's either to tell the story in the way that you describe the fact that you suddenly realize that this guy didn't know the time it was a 100 c.e. Is going was wearing a bomb when you were all still that trying to do what you could to dishonestly extraordinary what the issue was there was there was a bus literally just to live in a sign line is off where all calls were it was full of children and they were all huddled in the back of the bus as low as possible Sunni McCauley were just saying you know it's Ok call it so I'm going to be Ok trying to calm them down and we managed to get the bus over the central reservation and then drive off down towards towards the Sharples Bara market to get away from the danger in case the bomb was bigger because we didn't know at this point how big the Bowmore is residual bomb was a big bomb is it going to damage vehicles is going to kill people they wanted to make sure everyone was away as far as Akers What did you notice about this man what was he wearing what was he was he saying anything was he speaking to me. I just remember vividly the 2 of the tan Timberland boots he was also and black trousers and of black like of black running Joker's top. Like you know a really skin tight Lycra top and he was just constantly just saying the words of Miguel for me as if we were all just going to soldier step back and go yes sorry by let me help you out so think. And the police have now confirmed that this this man was was shot and died at the scene we were you still there when that happened others of the honest to God never seen someone he shot the 1st on of ever seen some of the shot was I experience I was about 25 meters away and he took 3 rounds to the chest from the back and he was like oh he's a they also I tied him as well. Wow I mean Stevie it you tell a story so clearly and so eloquently given what you've been through this afternoon it is extraordinary to who is saying right now as the nice progressed I'm starting to get a little bit more. So shaky any science comes of ever realize a shell so I love and enjoy talking about it in the pub with a couple of friends out a couple of bed just to try and show things are living you know like a little trouble on that with the on a Friday evening a finishing work as I'm going home now because I'm just a sign to come to a better head that you know as well as as few other people who we could have possibly died on that bridge that evening to die and. Yes on this issue where it's a people which fail and should get there I'll just write a law feel free to hold it I mean just trying to and sharp Also if a situation but I've managed to avoid sort of thing yeah it sounds like you want to channel in at the moment yes exactly. I mean that have you as a devotee spoken to the police to be spoken because some point obviously the experience that you've been involved with he's going to have to sit down and and talk to 3 with some do the things that you've seen in the last few hours 100 percent no men on the on the big mental health advocate and I think mental health is an extremely important thing so yet saying down and having a conversation with so many techniques I mean I will I you know go towards doing I think under going to try and take this weekend to try and take in what actually happened because you can say the correct adrenaline is still getting me through the saving I'm still shaking and I still try to laugh it off and just you know so Paul self is a very blogs a situation but as I said the guys that were there already on top of him some of the most amazing people of I never got to make them obviously. The people that were that list and you know you know most amazing people die and I had the chance to be you know around when I went down we all got together and we wanted to try and do what was best. Well I mean you talk about about the guy who's in the shirt with the tie who's actually got the knife the pick took the knife and is is walking away. But he's walking away in my direction we were kind of standing near each other and one the moment. We started to saw a step backwards we didn't want to run away completely because we wanted to make sure everybody knew what was going on because obviously a lot of people are trying to cross the bridge to go to work call coming home from work so everyone's a little bit not on the same what's going on so we wanted to make sure everyone knew it was going on good understanding I listen this isn't good everyone easily and I wanted to try and help the police as much as possible because I gave all my dates of the police and they contacted me subsequently since then saying you know asking about the call I've asked on the bridge anything I'm like it's the only mini cricket is any 2 of them on the inside or is that classic many cause you might see them as though the cause of the present like that. But we just wanted to make sure that everyone understood the severity of what was going on and just wanted to get everyone away as quickly as possible Steve you know it probably doesn't feel like it now but you know city come in the matter of London was talking about it and he was talking about the people he got involved he stepped forward and he was talking about about you and the others and he said they all the best of us what you've done this afternoon is it more no feel that way but it is absolutely heroic. Yeah I guess you. Have never been in the situation before don't look at my I don't look at what I've done it's all right to look at is stickers writ well that anything you know I could have I don't know whether it was a dead man should go with the bomb with his vest I don't know if it was he had to activate inside a way that I would make any money to get it you get a release date when we will just we don't pile them so you could really see any point 5 If you want to go you know it's great I thought there was the guys already bad that here I should make 100 percent. Steve That was a story Steve yes one of the eyewitnesses to the London Bridge incidence that the police are describing as a terrorist incident yesterday speaking to 5 lives and a false drive as the news in a morning papers now Richard Lewis is deputy sports news editor at The Daily Express has by Germany tell me what was on the back page when it's gonna go for Brendan Another dramatic day in the Football League yesterday with Moscow struck in and I am really not surprising often off their feet again on track Frankfurt on Thursday night at the end of a pretty bad spell that struck me now off no are in for Brendan Rodgers and the rest of course top of their list also need to get get get the cup going a guy and I see a lot of the man he's doing fantastic work at Leicester in the 2nd and that's how people will he want to leave us really putting something special in the pressure almost would be immense. And. Would less let him go it's a big choice but they modify answer surprise me away from from a system I know history but when you think you've. Brisson Symes you know very recent times last for 5 years you thought Lester was the. That in a way when they say big club I don't mean it like that because yeah we know know is vast but nevertheless you know it would be less to the us it's a dreamy interesting scenario conundrum would you leave Lester to go to Austin all the time like this Why where would you be for more money or not oh you know I often think please go on that might mean that. The next amount as. Each week that extra Mike Sutter difference to you or your lot you may well sir I can't imagine Brendan Rodgers for money and I'm sure Lendl and then it's prestige if not money it is but then he's put in something so spectacular next their plans transfers to football and as we spoke about few a few times I like the last few weeks they're going to actually look at the guns when every time on Boxing Day and I go home to live a cold and that is going to crack a major trust but it's interesting I was reading stuff in the way that people were stunned had had Rogers being given more time a little maybe he would have actually is now achieving Merrick's caucused records for years to get leverage where I are now. Going to 2nd of course he went to Celtic had fantastic success there. I would be absolutely amazed that he worked this interim that well a conundrum I didn't see. As well as if you come from living hole and you're thinking in an old school way you know the big clubs Liverpool Man United. Chelsea arguably arsenal is going to be up there if you're thinking in an old school way you know I wonder whether there hasn't been a paradigm shift in football that now you're thinking like less than is. Equitable. This is the interesting of course Lester one that makes course in more recent times and I'll smile. But that's in you know I may come back a few years probably 20 years we would have the big far I've And those big drawing clubs that was talked about was everything. That one of the big 5 all those years ago which I'm not anymore and i just seems the fact the fact I think that also under the anger got into the Champions League every season for about 1617 years sporty mo to be honest I think stablish themselves yes they won they won the Cup a few times I deal with so many things and I mean I see really as as the giants of London particularly Spurs and I recent success I do now but Spurs everyone even for 11 years so yes that is certainly I think in the general perspective they probably are because of that qualification times to trying times the change and in doing something some amazing illustrates things. With great players are playing great football there in China Inc And it's a massive drop off slow because you know exactly how much time will be given and I am a within a given I'd say months if it doesn't work out and over year you know it could be trying to again. But again prestige could be the big thing. All in denies and oddly Well show us as well be focused on the euro draw later on today yeah it's taking place in Bucharest I'm going to South great cities is the leading of course 1st men's trophy since going 366. And could be very interesting for England because very long start there could be groups like France that work out well Cup champions Euro 2016 Champions Portugal and Serbia but equally I could they could end up with a group with Poland the Czech Republic and Scotland if I do if I were in the playoffs so yeah it's not long now it's going to be obviously a terrifically interesting uro's next year with spread across all different countries. And the truly very interesting but the way England playing there they really are hopeful of going away Richard Lewis of the Express there are 7 News travel guru Simon Calder would show you just how much of an ing Greece your train fares are going to have for the 1st though let's get the latest 5 a headline says Matthew Axel from digital b.b.c. He's Britain's trains on a regular you will knows that time of year again you know that Tommy a month before the new Angus was coming Well commuters on Britain's Royal ways face . Rises again above the consumer price index from January and spent a night from the road delivery group comes as passengers prepare for the latest round of shark action on $2.00 train networks plus major Simon called a child loaded to the independent who was at Britain's busiest railway station London's will to live. From the 2nd of January which is traditionally the 1st working day of course every year that is where commuters returning after their festive break will discover that prices have gone up by 2.7 percent. So it's an interesting figure it's actually very fractionally below what the retail price index was in January sorry in July this year and that's relevant because it's the number to which traditionally train fare increases are picked that was $2.00 the train operators say we're only going to put up by 2.7 percent and therefore what we're doing you a bit of a favor is the implication but it's actually twice almost the latest Consumer Price Index c.p.i. Which in October is just 1.5 percent So you've got the railway industry saying we're being quite nice to you everyone else saying well no you're not because you're putting ticket prices up more than you would normally nobody more or than the rate of inflation as most people understand it but the results are completely indisputable and I calculate that some passengers on the West Coast Main Line will now be paying more than one pound a mile for it. Journey and that of course from what for Junction. To rugby and it's going to cost $65.00 pounds 20 is basically a 5 mile journey so therefore we're going over the pound a mile. Mark and what we tend to do don't get the. Pay rise this is always a benchmark which is in any time one way fare from London to Manchester I'm not going to go buy a fiver for 175 pounds to 180 but for once it would be 13 trains charging that because they are handing over the West Coast Main Line franchise to a new company called Afghan t. But whatever the trains are called that's what the price is going to be from the 2nd Diff January Obo it's really for each of these just a change of livery are too small for most passengers over the service is normally wouldn't Oh sure it's not the franchise but the way that these things are done it will be exactly the same trains exactly the same start. Pretty much the same service so if you want to carry on they've been on the west coast may not last 22 years but the government wanted to take responsibility for future picture liabilities 13 said and the government said Right you're disqualified you can't so we now have a franchise comprising 70 percent of the 1st group which is a Scottish transport company and 30 percent train Italia We chose you will know it's having a national state. Railway So yeah but pretty much to say just the prices will be higher because the prices are going up right ways. Look they do every year every year at this time and we expect Dr Rice's I'm presuming that there are all the sorts of necessary. Protection groups for the consumer as well and particularly the the passenger groups when you said to everybody else is growing from now did they include passenger groups representing the passengers on your Yes So in the campaign for better transport. If. Inflation rises and then looking of course at the c.p.i. The Consumer Price Index. For that it's going to pass just just made after years of appalling service they say with little relief in sight for many of them delays cancellations and overcrowding it will be an issue start the new year for the railway jobs over the other side of rail to different groups which represents right now prices say no. We've kept the average increase below the. Major reconstruction and they say that next year you're going to get $1000.00 extra freight train crash carriages and a 1000 extra weekly services so. Basically you're paying a bit more but it's going to a good cause which is making the railways better. You at Waterloo as we speak. Now yes said it's quite lonely the night in the evening had quite a lot going on here busiest in Britain business not in Europe but I tell you what for a month the warning is not going to be looking very busy because the tea is. Taking the longest very pretty tracked it series of strikes basically just saying December think yes it's going to go back to one day on the 12th of December election day that it would be a Tuesday if them stopping people very sick. Going to be struck you know Christmas Day and Boxing Day when there are trains anyway but apart from that all the way through from the 2nd to the 31st Also the station will have possibly hot off the not rich trains that it normally does and of course being the busiest in Britain that means you've got tens of thousands of passengers every day what we. Know coming to London atoll or 'd perhaps working from home or perhaps squeezing on to the trains which are running this is a very long running dispute between the aren't Union and the train operators popped up all over the country but this is the longest most lasting most damaging of the strikes that we have seen that we will see you see change of thousands of passengers it's hundreds of thousands of quarter of a 1000000 passengers used every single day this is a huge huge huge Dispy Disney is going to fix soon many people. Yes if you want some look at the person journeys that are going to be wrecked as a result of the strike Well they are the the biggest that any strike has cools for decades it is an incredibly busy the network that runs from here not divorce or the into southwest London it's sorry to share you'll see it all the way down to Devon and many of those trains will not be running they're trying to maintain a kind of cool service on the 8 routes which go from here. To Southampton that was so guilty it down to cause most to keep kind of. Reasonable service on those but if you're on one of the brass lines then quite quite possibly you not going to see any trains until you might get some rail replacement buses can stupid commuters as you would imagine are really quite cheesed off about this they feel that they're caught up in what's really turning into a kind of existential dispute between but ultimately the government. Top of the trucks will and the rail here and here about. What role guards have you have trades of tomorrow. Pretty much all the trains soon are going to be able to have their doors opened and closed by the driver and the big dispute is all about the guards too and crucially whether you actually do ye their guard on every train and the union says that's a slippery slope it's back to the past just so you can be looking after passenger accessibility the rail companies southwest of railway and everybody else says we're not trying to do away with the guards we will continue to employ them but from time to time if there's disruption we might run a train without a guard on. It's and that's the point at which everything seems to be turning. Because of course if you have a strike by guards and you run trains without guards Well that's not going to have very much effect so I think you see yeah I think you have the you know what they say it's all about past just safety and what's going on in the West Midlands that will affect travelers. Well we've got a history this is sort of parallel disputes West Midlands railway which runs very busy networks centered on Derby I'm. Going to places not cap issues recently the trains go to and Northampton that were also right all the way around the. West because they have to read it. They are having a strike every single Saturday Now that's quite inconvenient for a lot of people because of course permeable great place Christmas market very good price for Christmas shopping plenty of people want to go there lots of sports fix use that will be affected but they're striking every recession. For the rest of the year as part of the same dispute because you're always says it's going to run the services that it can and the fact that this various other train operators of some of the lines that you can sort of switch or maybe West Midlands railway to trains or cross-country but also what they're saying if you try to catch a train well good luck we've got that they're warning of a peak in the afternoon on Saturday 2 and 3 and 4 and then again late in the evening and they're saying don't rely on the last train running might not get itself home good and early which of course is going to upset a lot of people if you torture big nights out and of course the tops and restaurants and clubs that depend on them so yes it's tricky Oh dispute very strong feelings on both sides past just caught in the middle well as. The put group mode one sang who tried to imagine a house that's not tried she imagined a Christmas all alone if you can't get where you need to go it is going to be lonely this Christmas Yeah that's very prescient. To say that yeah well of course we have got all the way that everything shuts down in the u.k. Over Christmas anyway and of course this will come out of. The noble festive. Dates So it's Christmas there's gotta be a great Western Railways in and out of the paddock dead and there were going to be extra trains running from here also very ready to take some of the strain if they want to travel to reading in the capital that's not going to happen because they're going to be a strike is so it's got to be led to this Christmas if you happen to live in reading how very prescient of mud as a 1st time you've ever heard that about that group I'm sure they'll be delighted to have taken 4 years for somebody to connect them with would press in but there you go so I'm a travel editor does catch up with the news in East Africa now with Mark who can Loki who is in Nairobi Good morning Michael good morning to town hall you this and I'm very well thank you very much we spoke yesterday about the floods in East Africa generally where we are today with regard to the floods well just bringing up to date hundreds of families have had to move from their homes in various regions and are seeking shelter in churches and schools among other locations as you might recall there was a landslide several days ago in one part of the country west court following heavy rains in that area it is reported that at least 56 people lost their lives while in that landslide now the government and agencies such as the Red Cross have been distributing food and emergency shelter materials to those in the affected areas in many areas roads have been declared impassable. And military helicopters have been used to deliver supplies Well earlier this month I visited the Funi village in the country's county of. One of the counties along can u.s. Coast that has been affected by the floods while in the village and I spoke to Joseph and jury out one of the residents of the village in this is part of what he had to say. My name is just have no idea during this rain season I have planted some seeds and when they dominated I was very happy after a period of rain I found other crops was submerged in water and I did not know what to do I decided to look for another source of income and so I started buying and selling fish however getting the fish became difficult because during this period of heavy rain it is difficult to catch fish because of the large waves in the ocean and the fishermen themselves are complaining about it there is nothing much to we the fish mongers can do so we call on the government to help us if it can. You know these are hardships to affect. So much the people on the breadline the poorest people don't have people listening tonight we're able to have your broadcast last night when you told us of one part of Kenya where you'd visited where the house was almost fully submerged in yet there were people somehow still living inside the house. Yes I mean and those are stories that are replicated across the country whereby people who've had their houses flooded perhaps do not have anywhere else to move to reports that some of them decided to just stay in the house and if they can imagine how difficult it must be to try and stay in a flooded house just to say though that may try to just as well are predicting that they will be continued rains in various parts of the country and have warned Kenyans living in the affected areas areas affected by flooding that might receive rain they have warned them and asked them to move to safer ground in Burundi the bars close early is big news why they decided to close early. Well you know there is been reports about the reason why the government has decided to do this now the government has ordered a public drinking spots in various parts of the country to close by 9 pm local time that's about 7 g.m.t. Now until now in Broome today has really been no restrictions or no opening and closing times in that country in regards to bars but in various parts of the country they've been violent incidents that have occurred specially in the commercial capital would jump in drinking sports in recent weeks a number of people have actually been shot dead in some of the bars in which Emperor Now analysts there say that this might be a move by the government to try and deal with this violence in that has been occurring however the mail would you wear which is a commercial capital has said that this measure is aimed at ensuring that people drink less but as I noted there analysts say that they believe this is a move by the government to try and reduce violence the violence that has been occurring however this move has been micht with mixed opinion in Burundi with many saying that they have been going to bars to enjoy themselves especially say for example over the weekend and now they feel that perhaps they may not be able to continue enjoying themselves as a used to and may have to go home a little bit earlier however there are reports that some people for example would feel that this is a good measure and it will help in preventing these violent incidents that have been witnessed there and in Uganda Rwandans are being deported but was Welton as we have talked about in the past there has been simmering tension between Uganda and Rwanda and this. Really came to a head in February when Rwanda closed the mean come on board up post between the 2 countries now there have been a number of people arrested in Uganda recently in an operation against people accused of illegally entering the country among these were 32 or one dunce who are arrested in the west of the country and reports indicate that these are the ones have now been deported back to Wanda and also on the other side of the border 24 Ugandans working in Towanda what also expelled This is according to local leaders in an area called Sora district so all this is occurring amidst tensions between these 2 countries there were talks that had been brokered by the presidents of Angola and the Democratic Republic of Congo in August of this year and this was in a sort of move to try and sort of resolve this tension between the 2 countries but it seems this is going on and we might see in the near future perhaps the East African community. Coming into this to try and see how this can be resolved because it definitely is not only affecting the 2 countries but the region as a whole we're going to actually leave it there big of the starlet's for me while you are saluted because look there 1st they won the regional championships you managed to get nevertheless and now that we are forced sports and gotten I have to I have to so we can you women football team are doing better than the Kenyan men's male football's well at the moment there I remember telling you a couple of years ago that one day Kenya will win the World Cup I don't know when it may be you know 303-040-4050 extension 558 year but one day there will be 50. 50 as to where they were no no. Thank you. Rudy might draw to 2nd guess when though with the market in Nairobi this country the latest from Washington now from The Washington Post Jessica and through the program and I Desk and how you define. Very well thanks very much I would say you know lady with Donald Trump this was your 1st time in about 5 years that you're not leading or 50 years that you meeting with Donald Trump as a bit of an exaggeration of course we well. I don't. Like be on the plane to be we need to see what he's doing even though it's a kind of a holiday in Washington is not even it Washington is relaxing back in Florida and. He's not in Afghanistan anymore. Where he went off to Afghanistan for further know that Afghanistan was just a trip he just flew and then shed Thanksgiving Day and had a photo op that Afghan president and also it conveniently for him that got President praised and said oh the killing bin Laden is not that big but killing daddy the big thing so I have. Done something real big so kind of he got a big boost from that have been president that you did something bigger than Obama trying to lives to put down Obama some big thing and coming from and I guess I mean fortunately buddy has nothing to do with Afghanistan and obviously the Afghan president isn't going to get a substantial financial or military boost should be. Because he's no is not where you know what are you crazy at least Yeah he was make sure that whatever that's coming is ways not blocked by Trump so maybe those making sure that. Those things are linked but the story that you are leading with is a financial one. What is this story about 3 levels of growth in corporate debt this is a very interesting angle the government reported like a year since the last recession we had read from 200-820-0922 pick up the economy they constantly went on reducing the interest rates are way down to their 0 and one big fight come past been carrying on with the Federal Reserve is that they have to keep cutting it down and he says Europe has negative interest rates and we need to have negative interest rates to compete with that but right not so the Federal Reserve is resisting but they're not raising it as much and we find because interest rates are very low that many companies have been just floating bonds left right and center and also head of a track 10 took about 10 trillion dollars about what the last 4347 percent of the years economy isn't a comparable debt which is kind of very dangerous if some Someday we have to come and get it out from them and many of them are also just about the junk grade that was stolen and poor is supposed to be reading them at b.b.b. Because coming from big places like Marius and Hyundai and less like that so if anything happens like say suddenly that trade deal with China doesn't get through suddenly a new war and the Middle East breaks out then the economy slows down that. Usually be you will try to do you think interest rates this time we will not be able to do it because it makes it even worse the people who are holding all the bonds will say increase interest rates so that we can at least get rid of them and get into some kind of financial stability which means when the economy goes down this is going to be a 2nd big hit a 2nd tsunami they're going to fall right on it all the companies. Dumping that began early last the last. Time it happened but people bought homes the market does that right. This time of the companies I mean they were talking about General Motors and a.t.m. T. They all have. To the Ends of dollars and debt which they think they're not even investing it in the companies they just using it to pay dividends or make deals on Wall Street to buy something like they're talking about $1.00 of those u.s. Companies is actually going to buy some British company and this is a very good deal they had to do it wasn't the n.h.s. Was it the British company that. Just. Well that's let's see next year I guess. Oh. She Should we were reading your you figured Bret certain From gets reelected I guess that should be on the book on the table I guess really I don't know what if you have a saying in America I don't know not I literally just what I look for as there is between you and me we are in election mode or the other reason we don't we have personal views on our election thank you nevertheless there's a 3rd no never around with the news in Washington. The new. Premier League for anyone and this season Radio 5 it's true Good morning this is a photo I don't far from Dalton as a part of the main reason 5 Live Police identified the man who carried out a terror attack in London and didn't sports watching him make sure grinding down England's bowlers in Hamilton. Election debate which featured senior figures from 7 parties political correspondent Jonathan Blake was in code if there was plenty of debate on the key issues in this election campaign probably the most passionate sections of the day of the debate on the n.h.s. And on the economy I don't practice it as well and Boris Johnson and Jeremy called him were taking part in this debate really soon at was that the chief secretary of the Treasury for the conservatives Rebecca long Bailey the shadow business secretary was there for labor and for day yesterday we saw really a rerun of the party's main campaign messages and power is catching up to 4 and a half 1000 jobs in an effort to make the energy company more profitable 3 call centers or a threat of closure in health Sunderland and Wooster The company's owner says the British energy market is particularly challenging Christina McInerney is the assistant general secretary of Unison it's a terrible blow for families and for the communities that depend on the fuel coming what 3 and a half weeks before just before Christmas and Jeff news will of destruct on the below for many of them have been expecting that I we knew that going to really be difficult friend pair and but it's probably the worst possible news at the worst possible for a rail fares are set to rise by an average of 2.7 percent in January the increase has been strongly criticised by passenger groups and rail unions now West has apologised to customers after its online banking operation and mobile labs were out of action for most of Friday the bank says the glitch which lasted more than 8 hours is now resolved in sport now an England cricket is a taking on New Zealand in a 2nd test in Hamilton added While that is watching the 2nd day's play.
