Radio 5 Live on digital B.B.C. Sadly it's smart speak and on the way they may need it today with a mix of plants and sunny sounds winds continuing to ease between the afternoon a band approaches when they've been through the snow flats in regions many Premier League full blown if anyone else lights are on tonight so you'll be a good listener if ever since this is what's it Kiko 68 pm The best advice for its face is your local station this is 5 life. Up with our own for our lives this what we were talking about the influence the parents have children particularly political events. We need to protect children to sitting stem from the political influence of their parents or not Camille thoughts please 188-5996 months you've gone over 25 minutes of this conversation together as ever our guest Jan Edmonson he's a mum of 3. He's a mom of a 7 year old they are in soul food in London respectively and they don't agree with me on anything I say tonight unusually unusually unusual because usually they just follow him on the nominee. Diane with us Ignacio We go Johnny West London with us both. To. Die and actually die in festival time. You want to talk about. Children should be. Political opinion. Based scary about 789 year olds 10 year olds I think before they for 12 it's a bit dodgy a my woe. Children could be 8910 year old full 8 year old going on a talent these days the same with technology same wish the straighten out the no wonder the poor things are getting stressed when it goes examinations because the. Getting stress levels which are presidents of these days the pressures re-offend they start a conversation is destroying the childhood. Unless you say leave him alone let him go was being kids because the kid was out there for that that is why I am out I think the political thing more come naturally they were listening to that they were head apparels if they ask questions regarding politics the kindest thing is to say your heart healed on it when the spend that yet I appreciate you asking the question I'm doing. Please give a brief answer by all means don't blank them that stays with you you don't not give them an explanation they say you've got plenty time to grow into that yet when you get to set this goal or whatever you call it these days in my days it was that used to. Fortunately because of the experience with ties had recently with a young man. Is a relative I was quite shocked to hear of him having Politico so fast on him at school. You know I thought you said well I'm sorry but that shouldn't be happening you should be given the choices you should be given the facts as a the you choose which route that you go down not for the teacher to insist that you go down this particular route as was in this case and I did question him to cheat us as Mrs This was a an 1819 year old and. I was quite close what was with what came back out and we had quite a quite lengthy discussion on it. It's a complicated world for them bless them we're wearing them out too soon as I know I'm with you on this one I will be horrified to have to go down that route I'm. So sorry just for the report. Lately lately is friends saying this going on wasted too because they're starting to flex their muscles and a riot trials the team for team are never given Did they give that some general said to Chillon by all means that but not before that got. To be the star and George Bush an opinion of this. Goat a fair bit of sympathy with your previous caller and also the guy that was on before the news. I mean to my seventy's now so but the thinking about how I grew up with politics is a long time ago but when I grew up my fall there was an ultra right wing Tory My mother was of more or less of left wing liberal and when I was going through my teens on my fall the totally by wearing a C. And a bad back in those days. And 208 when all those old enough to vote we could read 3 different posters up in a Windows. Mind more influence on all this is we should be not doing anything in terms of protection is being much more encouragement. Notes of the young really young kids as your previous caller was saying a totally agree with that but once you get into 2nd critical. Live a normal Woods I think schools should do a lot more in. Hiding vests and seeing current affairs and politics so no I'm not with any of us leaning teachers were just very carefully to see this to have the tools to it's but I really do think that in this age for his. The truth. Access to the Internet and everything else we really should do a lot more in terms of encouraging. Kids to get involved. Personally involved but interested in current affairs and politics when when kids go to university they can study politics us differently but the same 3 schools so for the team that is reducing the schools to be doing will do no I think not a very interesting. Theory to a certain extent that that they should be encouraged. With that said the understanding just the mechanics of it and what happens in government and what happens in parliament and he makes the decisions and why because I think that a lot of people are really clear about the mechanics of it either that's what I was going wrong so I totally agree with. So to have kids growing up with a father from the standing of failed policies works I think would be a really good thing trying to talk. Back to previous conversations. Be happy for the voting age to come down to $66.00 that's not most of the night and then. They're the ones going to have to live through what we saw I think Dian what would you mean when you say that's where we're going wrong where does it where are we going wrong is in my day they never tosses the politics of the situation they never actually taught us how the situation were you don't it's very wrong to influence a political opinion on anyone any child any member family whatever they're entitled to that and in our world thank God we are entitled to free opinion or whatever but if we we need to teach our children the way they did what the lady said the way Parliament works the way that your local council works I have had employees in the past that don't even know how to go on voted to the local election let alone a government election for goodness sake they just were never ever told that you really must go and put a cross on the paper for this person on this person and wish what parties stand for . And how the mechanism was and that is the basic foundation to everything and that is what is. Essential not the excellence of which which route to go down how it actually was how you how do you put a key in the door and wish that which type of cage you put in the door and turn it basically that is the basis in my world of the real Should everything and they will in whichever direction than mind or whatever takes them because they'll grow into it when they will go away from it you will go down a different route to create a whatever you've obviously been influenced by American films talk about routes and set of reach for when holding people are no no no don't. Know who we cover oh by the way Sam has sent a tweet that says that is one sensible woman and when there are 3 women. With little claim it only will claim it. You think. Don't do that to me you think referring to. Refer to Jen Jenny do you think it is now I think the idea I'm found to say. You think. We can see. Stuff that's one sensible woman Who do you think is to just have a guess Diane Diane Diane a dire need you think Sam's talking about. I could be any of those quite frankly darling because she thought I don't know if we really need 1st a clue or genuinely thinking what we're thinking about the end of the day yes he's talking about you. Thank you very much that's mine I can read thank you very much for calling as well thank you and thanks for joining us London as well good morning . OK lots of responses to this. About why one of our listeners says just to reassure you all of this already every secondary school politics. I was going to say you've got P.S.A.T. At all P.S. Hate C. And the C. Stands for citizenship and I think that's a really good opportunity to give children. The skills to debate different points of view OK. Well. OK for. You happy for your 7 year old as well but. I mean. Politics does affect our daily lives therefore if they're talking about a topic that affects had daily life then it's political isn't it. Yeah OK ageism is bad is racism sexism and snobbery old people have experience and often wisdom societies ignore history and experience endangered says Shaun in Cumbria which seems to. Inform the perspective that actually your parents have got a lot of wisdom to share with you in terms of politics Jen Yeah I agree that completely I think and this is I think this is my response to the article you talked about earlier from the professor from Cambridge about encouraging children as young as 6 completely ignores experience and I don't think that that children have enough experience to realize the greater influence of the decision I think that children are quite. Self-centered. And so they would and perhaps vote on what would immediately be best for them without thinking in the long term what's best for people in general and the older you get I think the easier it is to differentiate between local politics and national politics and I'm not convinced that a 6 year old is capable it's interesting that you say about children livin in the now living in the moment because that shitty and if you go online there is this massive push for mindfulness and that is be in very present in the now and stop worrying so much about the future so which is fine if you're a child but that doesn't necessarily translate to being able to make an informed vote and again going back to what you were saying about you know wisdom and what someone text in about wisdom it's what that person does with the experience the knowledge that they've acquired from the experience because just because they've experienced something doesn't make them Weiss though that's true however if you don't experience anything you can't really decide in for an informed way I think that that there is a lot to be said for experience I think that the older somebody gets and the more the. Greater influences come into them and the more they can make an informed decision the more they see perhaps the consequences of previous decisions that have been made by people and think they can then thing well actually that didn't go very well or they can think actually you know what that worked really well and I would I would vote for that or I wouldn't vote for that but but. I don't think you can dismiss experience and I did like a reflective experience person someone he's accountable someone he can really. Rationalize their experience but someone who's just lived it and not even stop to think about it then I'm not yeah this is from Heather by email I don't think that children should be protected from any political opinion mostly because you need to know all opinions to make an informed decision there will always be people trying to brainwash others with their own dogma whether it's parents media social media etc Children will eventually grow to no age where they decide to go there or way they would choose a different view just to be rebellious or because they've come to believe another viewpoint from outside influence my sister was raised by liberal parents in share their views then she started dating a man and suddenly became a Rush Limbaugh conspiracy theories you know Rush Limbaugh the American shock jock but you know quite a surprise we would describe him as quite extreme radio presenter radio's certainly opinionated it's an optimal for parents to raise their children to ask questions and not take their view as gospel but people are human they want to be right since inevitable they will try to impress upon their children their values their reasons for following the policies they do you see ultimately why I love this email is we haven't mentioned the word valleys and is in this conversation really about the values that your parents have and whether you are obliged to know the city block to follow the values but if your parents are justified in imposing their Valley's upon you. Define imposition though actually because if it as a parent if we hear something on the news or my children ask me a question and I give them my opinion I'm not necessarily imposing that opinion on them I'm just telling them what time I think and I don't have an issue with that I don't have any problem with telling my children what I think I do think that they need guidance from people they trust because they need to be able to express a their own opinions on it imposition I think is when you insist that somebody follow what you are telling them and that's a wholly different thing I think it's one thing to have a discussion about should we talk about politics should be engage our children in political discussion but to impose your view. It is a. Stronger feeling I think and and. More of. What's the word I'm looking for. A car I can think of the words you know it I was thinking the wrong words which is if you don't impose values on your children the end up being namby pamby you know that with our new you need yearly working get through this discussion. I I think. There are ways that we consciously impose our views and ways that we do it unconsciously and I'm not so sure how many of us pause to think how far we push in our values onto our children. OK Let's bring in Amy in Cambridge into the conversation marry me. Yes I actually completely agree with what lady was just saying Claire because. I completely agree with you because of the reason why is because like when I was at high school and that was like. 9095 tries 96 and all that would have been not much you get days and there was no politics involved in. The day my G.C.S.E. For my A levels of anything like that and then I've gone on to do you invest a T. Lot had a gap between high school and stuff welcome and to university at a later date non-factory LIKE I'M SO CUTE AND And politics has hit me in the fact like I have no idea about what it what it means because I had no exposure to it in high school but like I wanted to kind of like say is what I think about is when I was in high school when the car went to a quite well went to a lot of quite. Good public high schools like a convent and they were very strict in those early adamant about you know picking you up shamefully G.C.S.E. And restrict about the so that you should go down and I think if they had added politics to that I think that would have been a pride more pressure and it was would have been even more stressful in my opinion like if I had been I personally think if I had been. Exposed to politics in high school I reckon it would have been even more difficult for me not it would have been really quite stressful for me like but then again like it he said but then again if you think about it now I've gone on to university as a mature student and I'm not alone in all that now it's even more like I feel a little bit behind because I went to like you know a public school with lots of stuff and then this some people in my university oversleep that have come from a private school and stuff and they would have been to a mess school quite naturally and when I'm saying they're in the cross and the they know quite clearly what they're talking about and I sort of live you know a little bit of a stranger in in that conversation and try to catch up a little you know. So same time I think. Introduce politics at. Secondary level I think. Because I personally think it's too much to take on a regular you're trying to think oh options are you going to take what G.C.S.E. Easy going to take because there's so much pressure proud in your high school this these choices are so important if you don't make the right choice but you don't go into There are A levels and but and then when you when you when you get older and you then realise that like actually doesn't really my options you take as long as you get good grades and go back to A levels and you go and sort of hold on one second that is so at 1516 I'm wonderin whether there is. Whether the we should take the balance in terms of pressure and really are still doing what's important in life because it feels like. The only thing that is important in life at that age is G.C.S.E. I know that people can go on and do G.C.S.E. Is later on down the line we know that they can we take exams we know that they change. Career path or routes so I almost feel like that age is very important for my daughter to be thinking about the type of world she wants to live in Rob has been focusing on where this course could potentially get. That's exactly how I felt when I was in high school it was almost like so much pressure on me prodding you know I know I think that what that was another bout 14 years of age and that's because it then you had to deal with a lot coursework and stuff a lot of those are up to date with a C.S.E. In your course but I think that company more this is when I did it so it was very much Masha I mean where does your politics come from the school where does it come from that come up I'm literally not by a political tool any reason I start listening to this radio station right now is close just watching on B.B.C. 2. But with time with equal time and time again you're asking the wrong bloke your mum a radio presenter. And I took time a fellow on B.B.C. 2 on the T.V. To know what I was a bozo talking about politics and stuff like I was any reason for anyone anyways I start stop watching stuff and listening to this sort of stuff is because about university now but I've never really taken much of an interest in it or because of my course I have to because I have to bring into a course where I can. My finance and stuff like that but if I'm young to be I mean I've never been interested in politics you wrote before university No I've never voted in my life. OK I say genuinely not you just when I didn't have any interest. Until that have never I have never heard of her life but I always listen and take an interest but I never took an interest more than I do now and for the fact that my university and he said you feel like you missed out your behind that's really interesting yeah development behind because I went to rock of you know a public school and now my university because I'm quite small and a 3rd grade them and I'm a little crass. Say no because people have actually come from a background where they come from private school and in private school they have been taught part politics from the beginning and they are they are aware of it thank that. The point I'm trying to get at is do you think that the coming out this is an adult with no such a previous influence. Think that that makes you more open minded or do you think that you feel so far behind that you're going to follow the people around you are saying. No I don't feel so far behind I so completely intrastate and trying to like you know. Whenever I'm around people are interested that sort of thing I always take an interest in what you know happened because I'm a mature now yeah I'm just wondering what the I think it makes you more open minded learning it later. Well maybe I think it is unfair because I'm a char now and I'm in a more interesting. Start to what things are happening around you the impact of what am I happy. For you care to your family and literally Anyways I'm possibly I've started to take more of an interest in it as a child or teenager in high school but I think they should really need to worry about that sort of thing because I think they've already got enough to worry about trying to think about what project they want to create just for Jesus's Amy has been a pleasure speaking real pleasures very easy to thanks Robert she was a fascinating conversation she I knew we'd get there in the end you know and we haven't even really discuss values friends or valleys who come on to that next time Jen It's been a real pleasure. You must tell me what this namby pamby stands for example. And also. Thank you very much doubt and you know the meaning is. The meaning of them Pam I'm going to go and research it and knock you. So here we're on our 2nd episode Now last week we talked about black British identity in this week we are talking about body image our guest this week is M.T.V. Presenter and reality T.V. Star that he should great Lateesha shot to fame at 19 when she appeared in the T.V. Program the valleys and the well star has hit headlines for some of the procedures she is hard on including for Brazilian book there's crazy like and I definitely think like T.V. Is the cause of all this because like I said I used to think I was the B. And C. Of the volleys I used to think I was like the bee's knees before T.V. And everything will be having a little bit more fun with T. Shirt later on given she's from Port told and while I thought that this week our collective should be made up of ocean I think that's fair Jeanne thank you for having on my end and what you know what we can spin on the podcast ladies will be in your thought or yeah I think it's been good I think some of the feedback I've had is you know it's exciting to have these voices these die from this kind of black women voices again showing that we're not I'm only in that we will have so many different varied opinions so I think it's been pretty good it's nice as well you know usually people think that all black girls are the same in some way all black people are the same. And I think the 4 of those as host were all so different and I think that anybody who's listening to the podcast they'll be at least one of those that you'll kind of you know be a bit mall drawn to all and you know can relate to the most I think it's quite nice that even within this small circle as well that we're quite diverse exciting with the topics we're going to talk about over the common episode. The hopeful. I do feel like we have a major version of the Spice Girls a little bit you got the journalist program the business over the sports and all we need to do is just release an album or something because on thing you can sign on saying I mean I can shimmy in the back I can play the Tom Berean. Used to be chilly that when I was younger I mean I can do. You know it was more like a diamond strip type thing it was in my doing flips by still cuts where the outfits and just was it might but flip it wasn't like American chili didn't coin if you don't. Sign a different like that you everybody knows like the American version of PAF of the group that I was involved with did like majorettes So it was like majorettes and cheerlead and you know with the bonds and stuff so I guess it's kind of the British version of what cheerleaders do. Oh my God I hate. But now it has been a really good to go to become Frank you so much to everybody for all the feedback that you've given us and the reviews you've been leaving on the new B.B.C. Sounds and I choose all over your place this is this is still collective the 6 the collective. Now as you know this week all guest is M.T.V. Presenter Lateesha gray She'll be joining us shortly where should we talk about body image and obviously with her being from Wales we thought our collective Mostly should be from Wales. Today So we have I.E. Shot a alleyway shot I'm currently miss you guys. Come on yeah like saying And Monique is joining us from last week Monique what should we love you for and may we'll chat. Champion and I also will you not lane. And the management yes loving not mean I don't think she says I've got a bit of a mixed collective today but it is mostly well sung I thought as everyone going to each and every polka someone to try my level level best to feature some black also is from the particular collective space so am Have a listen to this the. Color. Of the truth because we had a legend Jamie Shirley Bassey we had nuances K.C. Crawford who is Hall of patients she also sings in Welsh and the last singer there was all guests today was a reaction as it was that she should grace I literally said When did that happen she got a little song she got those songs well listen thank you so much for joining a shop and indeed I was useless since a podcast today so let's talk women of color and body image what is everyone. One story So Paula what is your story about our body image remember when we were talking before the parka she was saying that when you insert in space a particular unit as a member of the L G B T Q plus community it was something around black women and being too muscular and stuff like that when you're a black queer woman and you're entering predominately white gay spaces you see him and you can feel like you don't cling to me fit into like or like his family more is but and there are often kind of ways people present themselves to kind of align more with different identities and I guess as a black woman you're constantly seen as. More masculine anyway generally in the ways that you know Serena is often called like a monkey or gorilla or you know sometimes compared like Michelle Obama was compared to an ape and so you're already being kind of viewed and objectified in that way as and when you're trying to when you're entering spaces looking for people to link up with or you know people you finding attractive it's hard. I think I find that quite difficult Are you sure you're not in your head there what to expect so you know if you had to lose a lot of it to identify with even you know in straight data in just didn't general society as a black woman it's literally that's how it is if you overenthusiastic your lives and your bolshie if you're not overenthusiastic then you must be shy and you must be timid and that's because you must be oppressed and so kind of what's been your journey because when we spoke as well you were saying that you kind of had an open down journey I mean I was very lucky I grew up in a home where I knew exactly who I was both my parents are still together they've been together over 47 years so I knew who I was I knew what my background was I do that I was Ugandan I knew that I was half Italian half Welsh I've always been bit scraps and also since I got called as a youngster I'm not fine with me because I knew who I was so growing up I grew up confident I was quite thin through school and then I hit puberty and then I became more of a woman high school wasn't too bad it was kind of a breeze it was after high school I put on quite a bit of weight and I think that my confidence did the usual dip I think it does for all women it's not just a black thing it's an all women thing and I think them coming into my twenty's it got a bit a bit more magnified and then I went through a stage where I really didn't know who I was and that wasn't because of my color it was because of trying to fit into society's perception of size so that was what rock to me it wasn't my color so met as my size and then growing up in Wales it becomes 2 fold issue color and your size Tell us about your 1st project my 1st pageant was Miss pretty. I absolutely left I was terrified the whole time I still get terrified every president. You know I'm still terrified but it literally changed my life I met girls there who will be friends and sisters forever and it literally changed I've seen it change the way I see myself I stood on the stage in my swimsuit and I was pitchy like oh my gosh I could hear the crowd screaming and I came off stage and guess what you remains anything to talk actually yes I am a Mason I can do that I can see that you know I'm coming to money you know I'm coming to you so many tell us about you you know a story I just absolutely love this yes I started modeling about a year ago and my 35th modeling at least to be honest when to I don't like being in a swimsuit on holiday or anything so I was just so new to this but to see everybody else that if I didn't write myself just about in swimsuits and stuff made me feel so much local food in my USA and since then it just it doesn't mean a puff in me anymore though and swimsuits that the new one and it did she said I'm very I was a kid and I knew I was good and we had to try to get away with that everything. But you know yeah that was my 35th they felt was in a swimsuit and someone who I think has got the most incredible body I've just checked house at Instagram actually because I know it was a preacher in Nigeria and the yellow bikini killed me I was like I was finally asked but I know for all of us we all have our own experience around body image one way or those so kind of what's been your experience as an Olympic athletes Yeah there's just been different things I've experienced I know when I started out when I'm in the fly fix I remember I always used to like way at the longest show what is all the gales which on away like crop tops and like the hot pants I'll cite NOW NOW NOW NOW NOW Just because you know what time to kind of feel object the 5 because you've got like all the success of body at such a young age I had hair quite a big box and. I didn't. What to do with I didn't know how to feel about it yeah there was a lot of ups and downs a member being told a couple of times that I was actually as well and which was you know. Something that I was really interested in what you were saying there was around the kind of muscle not obviously I was an Olympic athlete I said remember kind of when I was training quite a lot going to the doctors and stuff like that and then I'd get measured a weight on the blanket over ways not how my how my overweight I was also to my B.M.I. Saying that my body mass index was too high and I could never really really get my head around I Why that was the situation both so I'm joining us on the line now. And she's in Cardiff Hello everyone. I mean. You've also had your own B.M.I. Jenny Haven't you can you talk a little bit about. I have decided to get my chips. And contraception I went to the hospital and they say it's unfortunately they wouldn't be able to do surgery because my B.M.I. Is 40 I need to get to see and I explained as well as as a black woman I feel the whole B.M.I. Does not really take into account the structure of my body and the way that I am I do not feel that I'm unhealthy I'm an active woman I run I go up mountains they fall I think they should be considered as something that's really depressing because I thought if I was smaller would they give me another excuse for not going ahead the surgery so that's my experience you can really feel the pain in your voice and I would think about this whole B.M.I. Things I want to ask I have literally had a similar similar situation to you actually in relation to futility I was told that because it's a long winded story but I would need to drop at least 11 stone in 18 months to be able to have fertility. It meant that's never going to happen and yes it had its impossible to. A team and me very hard how did they how do they expect you to do what they said that they would so they offered me I think I'm a bit luckier than the new being in as much as they offered me I could have a gastric band if I lost 6 stone they would give me a gastric band and then I would be able to have the facility treatment so I went through a really tough period in as much as I am who I am I'm a plus size model and. Thing going now in who I am and then to completely change myself because a doctor thinks that that's the only thing that I can do in order for them to be able to as he put it give me the gift of having children I was like well no it's just not going to happen so I've had to rethink the whole situation but it's very much I think B.M.I. For me are a dangerous 3 letters and I've seen so many women and so many young girls literally change themselves touch themselves be themselves over a table that in reality as you said does not reflect each individual me and I think that I think that black women and women of color have a little bit harder in as much as our bodies are not. Designed with the people that they had in mind when they made that yeah I tabled and I don't care what top does it seem to me that's not the case it's true I know would lot of girls who have figures that I would say there's nothing wrong with them and they sit in front of a doctor in the doctor said the same thing. According to your B.M.I. You're overweight so it's probably that oh your ass most probably playing it because you're overweight to the B.M.I. Oh yeah I know your arms falling off because you're overweight because of your B.M.I. It's literally the 1st thing they go to to discount you to get you out of their waiting rooms and it's really really shocking and I really do feel for you I really am so sorry it's awful I'm looking at you and I really feel for you is that it is a tough that's a tough thing when I talk to tell you I'm around facility how yeah how did that make you feel I went through every really really difficult time actually. I'm not exactly out the side but yeah. Something that you can't change you can't do anything to to change it. And it's. Gone through. And I feel like I feel for you because it's it's like what I've just you know encountered with with the doctors and everybody else and they don't seem to understand that we're not we're not built to say you know I'm more curve. And yet I feel as if they're also telling me I'm not good enough or I need to change the way that I look you know really going to prepare me for the way that I'm going to drastically. Lost all their weight because that's almost gone. And I remember in school who we were. We have to measure our. B.M.I. I remember finding out one just. Watching the numbers but you list above average like leaning towards unhealthy and I was like. $1415.00 and then yeah it was. And I remember feeling. My i Phone was kind of exchanging like this he. Just didn't show anyone like a couple of crash diet kind of things like 1415 already. I mean history shows continue to show us with each generation genetics genetics. You know if we're of African descent Caribbean descent Hispanic descent then you have different because you have a shape you have you have. A massive. Massive you know. It's. One of those things that many starts in school it becomes you literally it's something I think. We have to go in according to the National Institute for how. Many of as nice. Health care professionals should consider. When identifying the risk of weight related conditions among black Asian and minority ethnic groups. Change and I think. Education into emotional intelligence in the medical field when you're talking to. Is something we also need to look I think in this country. Just. To. Mean I. Think because. People are. Really. Seen as I say. And I think because of my disability as well. People. And I asked them the question what do you think when you look in the mirror. In this. And I knew when I looked in the mirror I see. I see. Because I knew I knew. And beautiful and I. Am a living is old and I'm from Leeds when. I see a strong independent cause it did little gal who works hard every day to achieve high dreams and goal now that we live in a society that judges people based on the way they look as if saying those. Rights call them OK. Salaheddin No no no legal or not yet alone I would like to add it was a mode as Never judge a book you know in the foot like coffee yet initiated. This is credible it is fantastic on the just lovely I says suppose really positive and uplifting and inspiring that this is the next generation this is Calyx It is times welcome our guest see Episode 2 of the sister collected it is a Lateesha Grace M.T.V. Presenter and reality star now she of course shot to fame when she was just 19 when she appeared on the T.V. Program the valleys she's also been on Big Brother house also appeared on a T.V. Show 1000000 Dollar Baby now the teacher has spoken openly before about her cosmetic surgery which includes. Jobs and of course the very controversial procedure of a Brazilian I think at the moment she's had about 4 of them but I started by asking her about her self titled as the wells beyond say. I don't know is bit deluded you know when I was younger and oversee like I was like one of the only kind of mixed race goes so I just used to be like now I know I'm going to. Sort of not i made me feel an oversight I was reading about you so when you look in the mirror you know things that you think is crazy like and I definitely think like T.V. Is is the cause of all this because I like I said I used to think I was the be and say of the bad. I used to think I was like the bee's knees before T.V. And everything and then Amanda when the show just a comment to my parents oh my god her teeth she could bite through barbed wire like she's drunk who had her body this is not unlike all these things like she's stuck in my head and I was like right I need to look like this I need to change this about myself that about myself it's been the same for like years and obviously like social media it has good points about them bad points about the good points are you can make a lot of money you can network with people and yeah you can kind of make a name for yourself in the bad points are you get trolled day in and day out it definitely effects even this I think that's why I did have like a lot of plastic surgery or one point I had my B.B.L. Of Brazilian But so basically you have taken from like you waste your everywhere and then put in she helps me about just because I didn't feel very womanly I had a very like manly straight down kind of body and it gave me a lot of confidence but I wouldn't advise anyone to go and get it done probably had like 4 boob jobs I'm so happy with them so I should have just left them natural I should have listened to like more people not say READ IT WOULD YOU can you move not only covered you know because I just wanted to be this perfect person and now I know like I'm 25 Now I know that's not going to happen tonight I mean like I'm a lot happier with myself than I was. Because now like when I see something I'm not like I'm not going to need to go gets it I'm just like right and it will come on the gym all yeah and I think when you become a mum as well you get like a lot more comfortable with yourself you're not in your head all the way through this interview obviously she's found that I'm super proud of everything she's done I think it's fantastic but one of the 1st lines that she said was it's about social media and you know it's one of the things that influenced her to go and change her body shape influences you to change your body shape then you become one of those women that young girls look you know to how do I become like how do I become. So how do I become like all the other Instagram models said to me so I didn't have this stupid dangerous to change myself to be something I'm not to be accepted well listen I think we have really talked the deeper than we probably thought we were going to on this podcast and so just massive thank you to and Paula and John and I make our money just for kind of opening up because that is exactly what the sister collective is all about LISTEN TO DO NOT forget to review subscribe and all that kind of good stuff may show you to download if you're on social media just make sure that you use the hash tag system collective we will be back next week to talk about something a little bit deeper a little bit lighter always guaranteed to make you laugh I've been Jesse I reflected you some presents are on the SR collective I've been on a cannot act Team G.B.
