Big hit song for you to identify in a 2nd stand by for that one now we'll be talking about today well Warrington you're going to be one of the stories that I counsel isn't Warrington I'm being urged to have a rethink on this think again after approving plans for around 800 new homes in the town more on this in a moment and the b.b.c. Sports Personality of the Year award sporty as they call it now I know it's back in a little foolish I didn't realize 2008 nearly 10 years ago since it was in Liverpool for the capital of cold she able to get for this wonderful event go on sale on Friday it's at the arena again $11000.00 people will be in there but millions more watching on the telly as well I was talking to Gabby Logan about this yesterday she was in the audience nearly 10 years ago for that one she's one of the presenters now so you can hear from Gabby just before half past 7 right early Shirley's have a go with this this is a 2nd and a bit but what a big hit song this is can you get it just from the spirit that's all it is just that little I think it's a tambourine and with a lot of echo on it 7 o 9 knowing 3 double 31 of the biggest hits on the planet ever give us a ring if you can identify that want and we'll put you on the early surely list for the small smelly in the morning b.b.c. Radio in the sound. Give it a go right let's let's talk about Warrington this morning because there's a little bit of a storm brewing at the moment Council is in Warrington have given the go ahead to controversial plans for around 800 new homes in the south of the town of a development management committee approved the applications for demand development in Grafton hole Hayes and Appleton. Despite hundreds of objections from residents and organizations too now among those against the plans is councillor Ryan but the Liberal Democrat Council of the crap unholy joins me on the line now Council Good morning thanks for being with this morning thank you you represent So it's a very nice part of south Warrington this isn't it lots of people would like to live there so why are you so concerned about these plans Well I think the concern which was shared by hundreds of residents are those myself or my fellow Council says that if we carry on building houses without the infrastructure in the I mean it has to go with them it will cease to be to nice place which you describe to live so it's not the houses it's the infrastructure then that's more of a concern yeah I think we've been very clear all along and when I speak to the thousands of residents who I've spoken to over the past 12 months about these concerns nobody answer development out right they want the right kind of development and it must be sustainable and this is something that was trumps out by council offices last night but we've got 2 developments here where one of the developments of former trials it'll be no shop you know community facilities no medical center apart from a local primary school you pretty much have to get in to a car to go everywhere so that's not really the kind of communities we want to be building so the people in your constituency they would be Ok if the infrastructure was was there because there are no grabbing hold fairly well and Appleton Appleton phone is very leafy it's very green but they'd be Ok with the houses as long as the infrastructure would be there now were you saying to me majority of people I've spoken to appreciate that we need more housing in Warrington as much is as much as the rest of the country but the housing cannot bring the town to a standstill and as you probably know from visiting the area roads are often at a standstill we have major issues with or without trouble on the motorway switch around the town and if we can put that infrastructure in place for not only the roads also the schools property and facilities that we're not going to have a sustainable place to live where people actually want to live and raise a family right. Just so I'm clear counselor something about this your at the infrastructure is there you would be Ok in the constituents would be Ok with the houses being built there being in crap in whole and in Appleton as long as the infrastructure is right so there's no problem with the houses just the infrastructure I think is that I was the crux of my argument absolutely right Ok now the plans were approved by the council last night so what do you do now is a case of Blowin in the wind on this are you going to carry on well we are looking at advice from planning consultants and lawyers at the moment it's only how we can follow on from this particular decision about your news bulletin suggested this is part of a much wider emerging plan 424000 new homes across Washington 8000 of which are in or around the ward I represent. A lot of a kind of a long battle on our hands in terms of making sure we get the right kind of development with the right sort of infrastructure big housing shortage not only where you are but pretty much right across the country now I suppose some parts of the country you know whether we like you don't know just need to be built on now. Yet I think the some some truth in the argument both the local plan which has been suggested puts 15000 new homes within the existing area of Washington and I'm sure that's true of a lot of towns and cities across the country where we can regenerate brownfield sites and fill greenfield sites and actually create houses in the right locations rather than putting the My people have to drive to get to facilities to get to work yeah I mean the argument with brownfield sites and green belts or or more. Attractive sites to build houses shall we say surely that lies with the building companies and the developers because if I was a building called me up I'd love to put a lot of housing crap in or because I could get top dollar for them you're probably right speaking from developers point of view but one of the issues with the $770.00 houses which were approved last night. Is there not necessarily houses which will be affordable the not houses which young families will be able to easily move into and not necessarily in locations where those people are going to be working no do they necessarily cater to the aging population which we have across the country but especially in the areas where these houses again rebuilt people are looking to downsize are people looking to move into their 1st family home and the types of houses which are likely to be built in Groton all in Appleton will be a large executive for want of a better phrase houses which are neither affordable know really what what the country's housing shortage stay needs right what would your constituents and I can only go on what you what they've said to you would they be Ok with the top dollar houses be in the top and in executives would they be Ok with that or is the a bit of a fly in the old when it comes to maybe rows of terraced houses with young families moving in is that part of the argument and I think that's a your address in a real issue there and some people will always you know you'll get those who want to maintain the character of an area and they're probably use those phrases to try and sound diplomatic but there is a need for a proper housing mix it's got to appeal to wall sized families all sizes have souls different demographics so there is a place for large family homes for those people who can afford them and who that's the right choice for them. So just to finish with the plan just remind me of what your plan is now your plan of attack now to deal with Yes So in terms of the individual development will be making a decision in the next few days whether we call this decision and I asked the secretary of state for Communities and Local Government to look at this plan again because the grounds of sustainability which were argued by council offices we don't believe I'm at an Olive xperience every day would suggest that it's not sustainable and in terms of the why the local plan which you referred to in the news bulletin we know that the responses to the Constitution are just been completed and we're hoping that the Council will listen seriously to those 6000. Concerned voices come up with that's a proposal for the future of our area Thanks for getting up early to talk to his counselor thank you very much my very own. Counsel of. The Liberal Democrat Council for crap in the hole in the south of Warrington you might want to pick up with. Him when he's on the phone you can be welcome to call us as well but Roger has the luxury of a lot more time 70993 doubles for us as well how do you get on with the. I the Father of me can very good morning it's b.b.c. Radio Merseyside Bradford's Council is in Warrington we just have a conversation with council that given the go ahead to controversial plans to build almost 800 houses in the countryside just south of the town and detectives investigating the murder of a teenager in the Heights an area of Maisie's are still looking for the rider of a motorcycle who fled the scene. Joleon Gwyneth Paltrow of the latest actresses to allege they were victims of sexual harassment at the hands of producer Harvey Weinstein in sport Liverpool legend Alan Kennedy says hamstring injury could open the door for Alex Chamberlain to establish himself in the team but there's no denying it is going to be a big mess isn't the money and Argentina get this talk about a woman team they have qualified for next year's World Cup I have to be to they went one meal down as well it looks like they were down and out Messi came in and I think he scored about 40 goals in 10 minutes or something like that 31 they want to think he got a hole and failed to reach the tournament so they will not be at the World Cup next year. B.b.c. Radio. Morning tell me when I start off with the motorways already looking busy on the m $62.00 heavy traffic eastbound at Junction 10 for the croft interchange little bit further afield of the m 6 southbound would have problems that this morning because of broken down motorhome it's around that the junction to just look out for that if you do travel out that way however closer to home the big one is going to be crux that road and both directions it still closed you to imagine sea repays between Kingsley road and road because it is a large hole which has discovered yesterday that there is a diversion in place to traffic traffic travelling in. Town you should take Sefton Paulk road large plane and then open palm and states and if you had an out of town follow Devon she road Belvedere road and then come into town via road and it did cause major delays yesterday and it had a knock on effect on a lot of surrounding routes like to make this. A start again. If you are a smith in the city you are known as so you are nearly right let's make a down row must have been what I was going to get smug at that roller coaster so smooth the outer. Lane even was really bad yesterday so do you plan your route before you head south as there is bound to be more of the same today with this problem in height and actually road in both directions out still close between knows the lane and hill side roads and of course is still got a long street close you probably know exactly what to do by now but just a reminder if you want get in a Main Line train you need to get to South Parkway in the northern trains it's cross that you need to be at and you noticed and know of any problems out there I'm sure it's going to be another busy 115-179-4095 extension 3 b.b.c. Radio mezze side travel Emirates producing the program today Marie Smith. Yeah. That makes me feel a lot better about my mistake I think we should just christen it now from now on forever onward smegma down Thanks Tony that's easy for me to say I was there. Melanie Harvey is with us today looking at the papers from pages for now and will look at the inside pages before 8 o'clock mail is press and p.r. Manager class of bridge hospital Good to see you the morning of the paper saying that surprisingly a certain Mr Weinstein Weinstein is just a yeah it is all over the front pages this morning I know you covered this in the news but the Daily Mail calling Hollywood's darkest day the Maira covering Gwyneth and Angelina which is that's obviously this huge. Change in the story that this happens this morning that the older I mean I think. I think on Julian or I'm going to speaking out it's quite significant because these are 2 of Hollywood's most powerful women obvious like the male. I think they're saying and Julian are going to speak out which Yeah I mean people will ask that question why was it taking you so long surely always look at such a level Well exactly you know this is this this is always the thing I mean on the job he makes it quite clear and the quotes that I've read from her that she said she did she never want to them again and she told other people not to will she won't tell the people. So you know I think I think it's a bit. You going to tell she was 22 at the time is she you know really really young trying to make her way this was a very powerful man I mean obviously these are all allegations at this point but you know this you know his wife's left being sacked by the company he sat up it's just all for more revelations to comb apparently as well as an extra I wouldn't be surprised one point I would like to make about this people are sort of talking these days about the decline in newspapers and the importance of newspapers well as to too well a magazine on a newspaper on this you know they've uncovered all this this was their investigation so I think newspapers still are pretty important in our lives and we should pay credit to the to the investigate to journalists who've worked on this clearly for a long time zones Yeah well journalism just still matter I still like holding the paper to reason that I still got on the plane you know do I mean I was almost called out there this morning reading the features pages when I was going to look at. It why do you want laser when you've got a paper I don't know a lot of people will be sitting down to eat their breakfast this morning and if you're an elderly person or if you're pregnant you can eat softball back again this is the kind of the lie and yeah I mean this this is pregnant women it's so confusing for pregnant women what you are allowed to eat well and I think probably the same for elderly people as well can you can you eat soft cheese can you do this can you do. You have it do you need to check the coffee in concept I mean. It's horrendous it's harder for women being pregnant without without all of that but I think what's happened here is there's been a real improvement in the way we produce off the way we look after the animals that eventually end up on our plate and that's got to be a good thing obviously for the animals as well as for people who are eating the food when it gets to the other end of the food chain so apparently I mean there's no point having a point I get it's not really is that you can't if you sold us what's going to get in there and the local connection with that lion mark as well you know Lime Street station when it's open but you actually brought it on the wall yeah she's holding an egg really and she was one of the main players and get in that line mark on the icon that's brilliant I mean you know really really important you know it's about the phone but also you know this is really important and good news so you can see yourself well that this moment on you go with soldiers. Looking for the warms as well like the dogs or the cross where you want the cross Yeah. Definitely got time for more yeah I mean we sat there so yeah it is never going to be off the front pages so that the Guardian this morning to talk about to resume was on the radio down south yesterday and she was asked if there was a vote again well you know it was a vote today which way would you vote and she dodged and she dodged and she dodged this question she's just starting to have the look of somebody who just can't do anything right now and sometimes that happens with political leaders They just because you know it was like last week with the cough she couldn't help having a cough and cold but they almost And this is indicative that that's not it doesn't matter if she dumps the question straight away whatever she did somebody will to seized on and said it was wrong whichever way she did the fact that she took so long to answer she's now obviously being accused of not being fully behind you know her not being a strong leader not being a strong leader also not being fully behind her own party's Melissy's and that the biggest thing they've got to do in the next 18 months and not know another bad about. Thank you come I can I will talk some more before I tell you when we look at the inside pages good mornings b.b.c. Radio Merseyside 727 what do sporty mean c.m. Smelly in the morning b.b.c. Radio and as it. Was the acronym is named for a sports personality of the year and who was on route of a Christmas time get the trailer for that is going to be the same this year Liverpool is hosting b.b.c. Sports personality of a game this year star studded ceremony will be staged at the Echo Arena Sunday the 17th of December it's a week before Christmas and tickets will be going on sale this Friday $11000.00 people will be in the audience millions more will watch the events on b.b.c. One and then catch up with the I play I only thought it was a few years ago couple of years ago when I was in Liverpool last it was 2008 for the for the Capital of Culture year and it was lovely was near the end Bobby Charlton who would have been. 7172 then come up to his 80th birthday if you already had it he got an awards lifetime achievement award and he was really really flattering about about the people of Liverpool when he received the award if you were lucky enough to be in the audience that night I will go for you but it's coming back b b b b b. B b b. B b. To Gabby Logan she was there. Yeah I was there are I mean pick up an 8 and it was held in a well I was there any audience but now I am not sure of the last 3 years of being one of the I think fame and I can tell you it's genuinely my favorite night of the year even more than Christmas day I met you I thought about you. As always I'm very thrilled at Liverpool as well because there's a very knowledgeable audience by knowledgeable crowds a fair right behind everyone does that put you wanted slightly when you know the audience know that stuff in certain cities adds to the excitement and it's definitely one of the most nerve racking think that any of us do I think in our careers like you know they beat the Gehring Claire on that one we get used to hosting Live t.v. Shows like Bush shows all the time but there is something extra about the South and I'm feeling the I'm not you know I'm not going to attend you know live a full and audience there is more than about 5 audience or you know or a need so every city you go to that is passion in the room and that's why people come and they come on the night and both excited and a little cool crowd it will be just as the differences go as all these other cities do and really I think showing that kind of regional identity for the last 2 years you know getting behind people for various reasons so it's it's just it's such a fun night so much entertainment so much. Marauding in the room you know and a celebration of great looking at they'll be an audience of around $11000.00 as we like a seat belt on there in the actual Rina and millions will be watching the show around the world as well yes I will let me and I think we think about 9000000 last year so it's a huge show that has a tremendous following and has other really I think it cuts through full well you know it's an entertainment that was much of the deliberation people who don't watch but week in week out really enjoy it but now it's because it has that historical thing you know that people remember from when they were a kid it's also kind of weekend before Christmas so I just before Christmas so it's the stuff party season and you know for me it is a great celebration of tremendous blessing talent and I don't have a chance for people to just reflect on the a gone by you know and remember that was the great moment Well the it's gone by me who for you is given a standout performance I mean would you start with 27 saying that play you know I think we had to bring in some of women's pool with. Cricket and football I'm We have the world Atlantic championships you know outside of the mainstream sports obviously the line. Is a great tool and a troll so I'm not sure any of those players will make it on to the top 10 this year 012 who knows how many will be in the top I don't count because last year close to $6560.00. It's been it's been a school shooting eyes usual I've been here where the sporting that to the nation has been shown once more you know it's done it's not all about additional. Donated that page is really quite an open field to get on to the Joshua obviously earlier in the year was identity contender and then as you know as the year goes on other names come into the frame like Mo Farah with his incredible achievement one more style and I don't know who's going to be on the show this yet but they'll sit down very learned people clever than me will sit down and size who's all not less than and then we'll have a an interesting anything well publicized is going to be the winner in 20 m.t.v. I was just going to finish with actually we get a chance don't wait soon to decide and we saw a lot to plan if within and we can cast our votes as well yeah and it is truly on the night you know nothing about both s.l.t. Gone by people had to come it was like you decide on the night and it might be that you'll swayed by somebody you know on the night who really impresses you in the interview kind of makes you feel and will listen that you haven't heard them think before you haven't seen them for a while so I think now not disaster next calking got himself into the top 3 and I think there's a bit of that was how he was on the night you know and I'm quite composed Claire and Gary and I we try to have like even the we kind of compete with each other to get them on her you know well listen as we did in 2000 and I couldn't believe it was 2008 not long ago and so it was a few years ago but it was a Capital of Culture be able to give you a fine one welcome enjoy your time in Liverpool it's a week before Christmas an additional day before Christmas and Christmas going to be great and we look at boats being you know full Gabby thanks the time you take a pay cash. Of one or 2 things that say Thank you Phil smelly in the morning b.b.c. Radio Nancy sound. Going to do a little piece on obesity Phil mentioned in the news they're kept for kids of always eating junk they've always eaten. They've always been crisps and they've drunk or some people go oh mummy self bored and they've always done it but I think the key to this whole thing is is exercise is playing out on a dollar salary going to unfold here but the amount of kids who just sits in and use. Let's just talk about some well there's only one way to put this really is a kids are getting fatter across the world not only in this country and according to the biggest global analysis of the problem ever carried out the World Health Organization the w.h.o. They've been told about this the been looking into it and they've they're warning again we hear these warnings all the time if current trends continue there will be more obese children and teenagers than owned to wait kids for the 1st time and they reckon according to their figures this could happen in just 5 years time now we're going to hear from Dr Fiona ball she is from the World Health Organization this is what she had to say this data showing alarming trends in overweight and obesity tenfold increase in the last 40 years is a great concern and really calls and reminds us urgent action is needed to end childhood obesity Well the figures are quite stark really research is from Imperial College London and the World Health Organization they were they did they you've heard about the Body Mass Index thing they analyzed this data from nearly all of the countries across the world they described in the medical journal The Lancet how that has been more than a 10 fold increase from 11000000 obese people age 20 and back in 1975 so it's gone from 20000000 in 1985 to more than a 120000000 now now the w.h.o. Is demanding international action as Dr ball again this is not rocket science but it's not easy to implement their cries industry changes and societal changes we need to change how we think about being active every day we need to think about our food and we need to create systems that make both healthy food and physical activity more available more accessible and more affordable here in the u.k. One in 10 children and teenagers is classed as obese in the world. Organization is demanding international action to tackle the marketing pricing and availability of of junk food really cheap high calorie food now Dr Harry Ross is from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine we absolutely have to tackle the marketing and the price the pricing and the positioning and the advertising off cheap energy dense food so this report really the paper it presents the 1st ever real comprehensive. Collating of information the data on the weight through to obesity for children and adolescents aged 5 to 19 it's the 1st real massive story that they've they've done on this and the World Health Organization has now come up with a plan to end childhood obesity it gives countries clear guidance on effective actions to curb childhood and adolescence adolescent obesity it's also released guidelines calling on frontline health care workers to actively identify and manage children who are overweight or obese but you can hear those those health workers are saying we're juggling as many balls as we can are you going to throw is another one but it's certainly worrying isn't it you know 20000000 in 175-2120 1000000 now so obviously something needs to be done but. That report from the World Health Organization 40 minutes away Good morning. As the headlines this Wednesday morning the 11th of October controversial plans to build 770 homes in countryside just south of Warrington have now been approved by councillors and Merseyside Police investigating the murder of a teenager in height in a continuing their search for the rudder of a motorbike who left the scene of the shooting this happened on Sunday and as we've just been hearing the World Health Organization is calling for international action after a study of child obesity found that are now over a $120000000.00 boys and girls around the world who are just too fat and in sport. Hamstring injury could provide a chance for. To get a grip. You maybe get this week and continue because money is going to be. In the. Radio. In the morning b.b.c. Radio Nic sound was makes me giggle with Peter Kay there was voice comes at the end scares me just like my 10 minutes to now here's a little thing for you. This ended up in Liverpool warm and then it ended up in. Garden to where it still stands today what are we talking about was the Freddie Mercury statue it was brought to Liverpool it was on the Dominion Theatre in London for the for the show we will rock you few years ago and then they brought it up to Liverpool because we will rock it was coming to the empire the idea was put this 20 foot statue. Freddie Mercury on the caliper outside the Empire but it was just too every so we couldn't do so where can we put it they put it in Liverpool one it was there for a week or so maybe a little bit longer and then where did it go after that went back to the Dominion for a while and the Dominion Theatre and then Raja Taylor said all of that put in his garden didn't get planning permission retrospective planning permission for upon them the plan is when Listen if you ever move house you have to take the 20 foot Freddie Mercury with you so it was here was in Liverpool one and I think it's down in Gloucestershire now a little a little bit of Freddie Mercury little bit of Liverpool warm and the open road to Taylor's garden so they are there at Liverpool connection fully. She keeps. The results on. And. It's just common. shops will shares ago it's in more detail in the film has got to the stage 6 minutes to a good morning Melanie obvious by with as we look at the papers as we go up to the 8 o'clock news Melas the press and pay our manager clients approach the Welcome good morning again Yes well I will be heading over to the Wirral as soon as I finished it. And I will be working with some of the happiest people in the world in our late couldn't the ACA Well this piece in the ACA this morning it was a survey by Rightmove to say people in the where all the happiest people and England. Are in the u.k. In fact want to be put this down to they this was a survey that was done they actually questioned people to say how happy are you. They came out so obviously apparently according to you and counsel George Davis he says it's because there's good schools there's good leisure opportunities and stunning scenery I mean we all know the some beautiful scenery over there I see a lot of the tunnel in the motorway I was going to show you might be live in a certain part of the mall and thank you very never asked you quaint rural village villages as well obviously not everybody got still of that but that's quite nice I quite like these ones. Beaten only Lemington spar only on say 2 places I've never been to so can't comment but Southport Liverpool and Chester all got into the top 15 as well so we're all quite happy you know actual stories just yet it's all quite nice quite nice just going back to what you were talking about before with obesity and carrots and the worry and not the pick up on this but they're looking at a slightly different angle on it there was a survey done by child Weiss which That's the 3rd of them the 5 that got their own top law I can't think here and it goes back to what you and count were talking about it's the you know it's the not be an octave but quite horrifying kids the effect of one in 2 year olds not the top level they do it's the way it's a coloring book now that was not that's the thing yeah I was out with money says nephews on Sunday and interestingly we went out for our table we were playing dominoes they were color and then you know but they do and you know the friends have got them and it's peer pressure. And you know you don't for school now as well they have them in school. Out of my day we had one computer in the whole school we do your homework now you come home and you sit down the computer because the homework has been set online Yeah so it's a different world it is but it's a balance that was a model of technology but it's a balance and I was saying to God God's big for you but sometimes we're guilty just very in them around all the places partly because it's time and partly because we think we over worry about kids sometimes yes I think this is the I mean the whole strange as it. And all that kind of thing and it's right to be cautious Yeah the same token you know yeah you remember when we were kids we just got the down our bikes in that way but the weather was nice and I'm. Very well let's talk in your voyage that time of the year. Yes I put it on for an hour of the week and it was chilly but it's gone back off again you know absolutely it's really mild this morning apparently this causes loads of Rouse in the house between men and women this is in the mail as well and this was done by Corgi who obviously will come here oil isn't things that they've got an interest in this. Apparently a 3rd of couples argue over how warm it should be how they Yeah I'm usually really loath to put it all on the same I hate paying them I'm no longer saying well I always wait for the 1st I say what I'd like on my feet but I must admit I stuck Picante you wash in dry at the moon so yeah I think that's the thing is most take it all over the radiators which doesn't warm the house anyway it's only dry any washing. So I did I took it on for about 4 in 10 women apparently turned up the thermostat behind the man's back so I don't see this is why we need an app with a thermostat where you can tell if somebody has adjusted the heat and your and where you're from going doing they put the heating on dating you can turn it off. It's not going to understand. So fairly were alright I went over there at the moment people out into work this morning might stop and pick themselves up a cup of coffee on the way there is that there's a lot of. Conversations taking place at the moment in the Commons about coffee Culp's all the recyclable I try if I'm going to I try and have a flask you know we have a few fun I do track my husband's brilliant he always takes us for that into the coffee shop sometimes he forgot some leaves and the car though so he goes and buys the cup of coffee then goes and sits and says fussy but but that the thing is people think that they at the coffee cups are recyclable and partly that they not only. You're right. It's just a case of trying to pick but I mean it's so hard isn't it to try and do the right thing all the time the companies you know you like well you're right but I just automatically issue not all cardboard is responsible on its. Own a look at all those worrying about Israel and I would say. No it's not that we've got all many hoodies if you've got loads going get a hold of if you have lying on your feet what are you walking around a pair of shorts for if you cold go get a truckie bottoms on that's the way that Mel lovely to see you say hello to the family well as to everybody quotes a break thanks very much Melanie I know I think of Britain you for the 2nd time to be with the added through the grapevine the small of Britain down the name of a man with a collar and his name nobody nobody all I want nobody going to read buttons Eddie News with Phil Cooper Good morning warranting Council is being urged to reverse a decision to allow almost 800 houses to be built into villages south of the town the proposed developments in Appleton and grap and Hall were given the go ahead last night despite concerns about traffic levels and the impact on the character of the area Ryan bass the Liberal Democrat councillor for grap and Hall has told us they may ask the government to review the decision he says the infrastructure isn't in place to cope with the extra numbers nobody wants a development our right they want the right kind of development so it must be sustainable and this is something that was so by council offices last night one of the developments of 400000 of you know shot you know community facilities no medical center apart from a local primary school you pretty much have to get in to a car to go everywhere so that's not really the kind of communities we want to be building police are still looking for the right of a motorcycle who fled the scene when his passenger was shot in the head on Merseyside 17 year old James Meadows who was found online cross-road in Huyton on Sunday night he later died in hospital the 29 year old woman from Mosley's been arrested on suspicion of murder Detective Superintendent Dave Brunskill from Merseyside Police is leading the investigation we know that the rider of the most a cycle when James came off the motorcycle he didn't remain at the scene he did ride off we're extremely keen to speak to him to understand what it was that they were doing prize to the incidents why it is potentially the motorcycle was shot us and obviously we would urge that individual to can forward and speak to us and he can do that in confidence the energy regulator off g.m. Has announced that and over another $1000000.00 customers are to benefit from camps limiting increases in the price they pay for gas and electricity but it stops short of announcing a much wider. Camp despite some reason May's promise to publish draft legislation this week and what she called a rip off tariffs Michael Lewis says the u.k. Ek slash Liverpool b.b.c. Radio most. Just a quick a travelogue for you as well traveling I'm 62 eastbound very slow traffic there's been an accident there now on the shoulder between junction a Will road and junction 9 that's when it is well also saw the lights on on the new bridge on the new measure gateway and some of the barriers to start to be put in place on the existing bridge the Silver Jubilee Bridge this morning as well so that looks like an imminent opening as well but we'll keep you up to date with that right coming up today are certainly in the next half an hour I don't know whether you're all prepared for retirement maybe you already have with your pension be big enough to allow you to go cruising around the world or will it be hand to mouth and some tips on to help you with with your planning and if you haven't started is it worth playing Now suppose depends how old you are and when one major title in a season is something many of our local cricket teams hope for every single summer book Getting 3 is something of a record which is why the celebrating over an almost morning to you b.b.c. Radio music sides generally some has left the building this morning said Cricket is it just like Rounders Well we'll find out and have plans States I'm not sure whether Jenny is the right person to censor this but I'm sure she'll do well she's there for us this morning to find out more scouts now when yesterday there's a brand new question on the way in 15 minutes b.b.c. Radio. Roy you might nod or you might shake your head or you might look up to the sky when I ask you this question Have you got your pension sorted out for when you hope to retire or are you thinking about relying on the state to support you financially even though you've paid into the pot Surely you should be getting something now will figure suggest nearly a 3rd of the over fifty's don't have a pension plan in place but the pensions and lifetime savings association the p l s a They've launched a consultation that's designed to improve retirement now one of the main recommendations is the development of a series of retirement income targets which will provide to. People with savings goals to aim for what they think will be able to help them when they retire and they are there is to do this while you're in work Paul Kelly has pensions advisor with particularly financial services and is with me now Paul good to see you good morning nice to see you it is a case of when we're younger we don't think about retirement and pensions there's always somebody over your shoulder saying you put some of that way but some of that way we've got other things to do when we're in our twenty's are precisely years a little bit people forgotten about it but we're there are the priorities the 1st one is normally so let's get on the mortgage ladder let's get a problem the property that you know you got married and also many young you want to go out and enjoy yourself you know of course so you're so so over the years I've been a prisoner long time you people I'll do it next year when the car was paid out to when we Mogadon a bit I'll do the the sometimes it doesn't happen yeah I mean by the time you have paid Mr Leckie Mr Gas Mr Council Tax Mr mortgage fed you self clothed yourself there's not that much left as I say yeah yeah yeah and in the past month we've been looked after because most big companies had pensions keep a half a time people didn't know they were written it because it was dated taken out of this out before they even saw it so they lived on what they had and the pensions was looked after Besides since the demise of the final salary or defined benefit pension scheme yeah then we would have to look after ourselves so just explain to me in a really kind of Fisher Price easy way for me to understand final salary pension scheme What does that mean kind of the benefits are based on how much you weigh and how long you are in the scheme so the standard superannuation is every girl's Rose you've built up you've got 180th for every year you really schemes are in 40 years you know 48 years which was 50 percent of the final salary right and then you go lump sum on top and your $380.00 s for every year could be a maximum of 128 years which is one and a half times your finest hour Ok that was a simple simple. Always. So in a way when you got your money at the end of the wake of the. At the moment that money had already been taken and put away Ok how much damage in the 1980 s. And part of the ninety's was the pension industry the kind of put into a particularly with the Maxwell situation didn't it yeah down and the government legislators come in to protect our We've got the pension protection for now so and the assets of the pension scheme are separate however big business they brought in . They bought it that the pension scheme situation was either an asset or a liability to the company so you could have a pension scheme for example the b.b.c. Is in about 1300000000 pound in deficit I don't understand how that works a few I don't know Royal Mail which is in the news at the moment you mention the b.b.c. You know there's been a big say in lots of other organizations not just plucked those hours of the I'm not suggesting the problems they're bought. If if I'm giving you part of my money from me wages every month and there's millions like me where just where does not go does it say in a shoe box on the net which you need it invested and run vested all over him property in Stockton right everywhere and that investment can go all the time down here precisely right as you say and then there are certain rules and regulations brought in that back in the back in the the 80 running when we tend were up 1516 percent then the the pension funds were awash with money right so the government's hand around said you're building up too much money so either and you had things pensions how they were complete and partly money and to reduce how much excess they had so the chickens come home to roost now precisely because also they said when the prince the pensions holiday he said we still have too much money I know we'll improve the benefits for everybody so he puts increases in pensions they put dependent pensions it all of a sudden we're now into now if the interest rate a point 05 percent those returns and. Then secondly the most important thing is final salary pension schemes were sent up in the 3rd. When we were a big manufacturing company rather country all of a sudden now there's no people working in manufacturing so there's less people putting it on loads of people taking out what if you're in your forty's or your fifty's now or is it too late to put money aside for a mansion No no definitely not put it this way the states are going to give you your basic state pension of about a 160 pounds a week or the equivalent when you retire right you might get some minor benefits on top for you know to top that up but the rest of it is going to look after yourself the 2nd reason is if government gives you some tax advantages you take them right Ok The difficulty is that was we touched on before Paul is if you haven't got the money to put away you haven't got the money come much and was in no way a great and I agree with you made 2 big public has brought in the great the best thing I ever thought the state and later pension scheme which was paid for after national insurance so you didn't see it go out right it had to fall to number one it pay pensioners who were retiring went so the money wasn't the point wasn't building up and it was a group and it was based on salary and service they could do it with taxes because it's not exactly the same with with with taking out an absolute assurance So you built up your own personal pot and then he and you got what your net talking about nets and drugs and all of that kind of thing there were tax breaks if you like if you put money away and you pension and you know you still get the tax breaks but when you come to get it when you retire don't they take the tax off you then do your taxes which normally appears not really break we'll get 25 percent free of tax right and then you get the balance it's taxable but if you're a non taxpayer then you don't pay tax on I say and can you pass your pension on to your dependents depends on the type of pension right this is where it gets murky Now that state pension majority state pension car because there are some examples where you can write it up for a pass or cruel and then there's a different reason dependents and beneficiaries most defined benefit schemes openly complete schemes you can only pass on to a spot. Civil partner or a dependent child you know sort of 2 I said name and I'm just just to finish with this well I think it was me from long as it was George Osborne he changed the rules not so long ago where if you have a pension pot you can rate it you know you can take it out you know the world you will you will be hit with a tax but you know if you've got to know let's just pluck a figure you know 50 grand in a in a pension scheme that's been sat there for a while you can go and take and spend it on sweets and you can still not make sense you know. You can take 25 percent tax rate you're not calle $12000.00 you'll hit the 7 and a half 1000 attractors endings so if you take those you no longer on the revenue side or you're only 37 are right on that plus what you're aiming elsewhere so you get tax of what your market is you'll be taxed on $4040.00 maybe 45 percent it was the idea. Was to give us the power over our own pension that was the idea behind it but you know we had stories and I know headlines headlines in newspapers but you know somebody's taking 50 grand out the pension pot bought a Ferrari or whatever it is not the Get one with 50 grand bought points on that or did a lot of that go on and on and still go you know and it's still going on and some people doing it for the right reasons some people do for the wrong reason and right and there's a failed every If you go up more than 30000 pound in a defined benefit then you have to get independent financial advice to see whether it's right to transfer or we're almost out of time so just in a nutshell it's you never too old to start putting money away you know you won't always get back what you put in that's all and that's the you will get back because the tax breaks you'll get back and also depending on where you invest if you invest into Mogadishu cook small companies then. But if you invest it in banks or build you start your skills then the new money is secure that's just a big shift to go down but when you mention banks they have a 2nd well they. Look to social mobile as its own and thank you very much a day for coming in there you won't come by might be something you want to pick up the road Phillips on the phone in a Saturn in Roger will be on for. There's Paul Kelly pensions advisor with papa Kelly financial services here in the city 60 Minutes my statement. Coming in a 2nd she's got the travel news let me just bring you up today with the latest news headlines Warrington you in the news today Warrington Council has approved plans to build around 800 houses in 2 villages south of the time crap and whole number one local councillors told us he may ask the government to review the situation and step in police say they're working with the family of a teenager who was shot dead in the item to find out why he was targeted and the energy regulator has announced that another $1000000.00 customers to benefit from caps which will limit how much they pay for gas and electricity. Because if you read this mornin form a livable defined Alan Kennedy losing Saudi Omani to a hamstring and injury is a huge blow to the Reds attacking threat but he says it's up to the other team Now the other members of the team like Alex Chamberlain to wear step in and step all. B.b.c. Radio. Pension bill you money away if you punch in you've got no bills on you my jewel still so I feel proud that I've joined. He told me to keep talking about my film and that he was going to hop into his hut that was adjacent to the room I told him I was leaving he quickly got it up out of the turn and grabbed my forearm as I was trying to grab my purse with a magazine The New Yorker has released a recording which it says is of an undercover sting operation carried out by New York police against often wants thing 2 years ago 22 year old Italian model but a lot. Have gone to police to accuse Mr Weinstein of touching it appropriately she agreed to meet him again at a hotel wearing a hidden microphone so the New York police involved in this staying here feel like now on the take the model can be had complaining to the producer that he'd groped or he described it as something he was used to he was never charged with any offense for the record it's a little bit more full this recording but it's definitely worth hearing let's see if we can play now. Everything seems to me very uncomfortable or you can even ask him one message and one of the people in the Great Commission for years and you touch my brain fusion surgery used to the moment you use the word here. You're not using that would. You be as research lab or more for lots of hidden microphone of course now for decades Harvey Weinstein has been one of the most powerful figures in Hollywood producing a Big have film Shakespeare in Love The King's Speech pulp fiction as well he's also been a major fundraiser for the Democratic Party the former u.s. President Barack Obama and his wife Michelle say they are disgusted by the allegations Hillary Clinton says she's shocked and she is appalled this is the B.B.C.'s David with us he's in Los Angeles I've been told there's the possibility of further explosive revelations in the next few days also of course the possibility of plosives scrutiny of the. Radio in the south. Is weather service morning she's at cricket club 1st the 1st team bowler Shaun broken member of the committee and some of the places. From the team as well why is she the world will tell you now plays and supporters all the cricket club are celebrating the most successful season ever and we'll have a bit of a saving them out of West Lancashire was hosting a special reception to want to Cricket Club and the success of all 3 of the scenery it seems winning their respective Premier League Championships 1st time it's ever happened in the history of the Liverpool and district competition as well generally so most consumers more morning Jan. Good morning Tony have got a bone to pick with you know what I mean before that I did know the difference between rounds in cricket Well let's listen to the interview and see if you do. I have the I don't have to know I'm a regular 7 part cricket club I am indeed I But you know it is just something about coming to a cricket club business and you can you can feel the summer nights you can almost taste the strawberries and cream you can have as the ball hits about and it's wonderful being hammered the beautiful on skate Cricket Club this morning to talk about this incredible season that they've had now she said it would mean looking quite rightly pleased as Punch I can say you've got Nicky cones who is the 1st team fastball and Sean Brock and his member of the committee and also play on the 2nd 11 team we'll talk about the achievements in just a 2nd but 1st of all just tell us a little bit about all skate Cricket Club How long's it been here yes oh we've just completed our 182nd season so we formed $135.00 and you know it's a would be a cricket club based on base norms. We've grown 3 she needs sides they all play in the live pool district competition. Where we run you. Play in a more local competition the South Pole district leak. You know it's a. 350 members I think really family club fantastic if she facilities here with you know the old pavilion behind us and on the development which opened this year to all right so you know yes really really positive place and a great place to play and I mean that's gone on for nearly 200 years so you must be a real fabric of the local can be. I know yeah you'd be surprised if sometimes people still stumble across us and say we you know we don't we don't know you here both you know we don't we're not the oldest club in in the area but we're certainly you know one of them and we won the founding members of the pool competition as well so when so yeah it was we've been here for a while and hopefully here for many more years to come and let's talk then about the season that you guys have had and just just walk us through then the the achievements of the titles that you've now won. Pretty much all 3 teams won the Premier League in respect to divisions. The 32 captained by Jordan bhajan when the trouble which is the 1st time that's been done in light in the club . The 2nd to Jonny Glaser's the cops and. They won nearly in the 1st 2 captained by Michael Lazar. In the league. Shared a lunch of course. When the 2020. Got to the national final which unfortunately lost on the day is a great achievement. But this is all 3 of your teams and 1st 2nd and 3rd 11 all getting to the very top what was that like on because it all happened on Monday what was that like for the for the play is that those results came in I think we were in the 1st team of play and Bhutto. We needed 7 points to win the week. And when we don't we don't you know in the 30 minute warning because they came down to watch after dark I think the 2nd team were back at the club after a win and waiting on the New Brighton vs Sefton Park game there's videos on You Tube and Twitter and of them all celebrating with Ian Glazer standing at the door. Waiting for the result from that game and I think everyone wild in the club so. It's pretty special day to be honest I'm not just for the place of you're from the committee as well what was it like watching not seeing the famous one come in and all we got that one of the 2nd one came. We've got now and then the 3rd one is fantastic really I think of the play all season it's a long season $22.00 weeks and for it all happened within a couple of hours as Nicky sat a couple of them probably go into they were bankers in terms of the 1st and you know they were very much we're almost there the 2nd scene probably wasn't clear caught so you know for it to happen full stop is amazing before it happened and you know the way it did on one afternoon it was response has taken off the other committee you know delighted of save him it's the places room purely by volunteers . And the defense has a job as well to the fantastic job of being a. Great facility for the players to play in and for people to enjoy cricket and that's made history because this is the 1st time that any clubs have done it yet certainly the 1st time we've done it I think there's a bit of. Whether all the clubs have possibly done it in the past with you know the way structures have changed over the years is not always the easiest the child will say least the 1st time we've done it as a club. And finally it's not just on the field that you've had a pretty special year as well because we are starting from to the stance has taken new building as well tell us a little bit about this yes so we we had a pretty if you come about 18 months ago pretty old chappie looking tape early in a single story which was condemned We know we knocked it down I think 3 I think mainly you know through our chairman Tim to Hinson vision with with mice to build a new 4 change rooms on the ground floor on a fantastically for sure room on the 1st floor which I'm you know with a balcony overlooking the cricket in the summer is a fantastic place to pay so you know with a lighted office if you finish and still to take place yes being you know that couple so off the fields with with you know the successes on the field it's been a fantastic year. Round here on skate cricket club and I'm sure the fans and players are chomping at the bat. If you are the next season holds but only it sounds that there's going to be a whole lot of celebration going on yeah well done Jan I was only kidding about the rounders lever arm will open all that thing. To the cricket club as well it's 27 minutes and I'm full Cooper has the latest b.b.c. Probably the sandwich budget now but it was like a huge amount of money 90 hours of studio time and that produced 70 hours of time and the Beach Boys don't play all that they say they don't play. It was says she musicians. As a session musician and how did they get that sound with kind of spooky woo sound on it that was called the federal minimum that was used in films kind of film so they used that and that base at the end they got above played a bass guitar with a you know a bow that you will play a cello with and they played the bass guitar with it so you you ended up with.
