Getting some real street can take months and months and months of engagement on a really want to pay tribute to a lot of our volunteer sites and outreach teams who do fantastic work going to speak to people every day it can take months to get people to the point where they're actually willing to engage that might be an issue of trust with with official organizations. To just put something into one place oh yes I would probably be fired from with that I did say to the Lowry girl just that us tonight have to pay me a lot of money to do this every night 7 to 800 people but yeah it was God thank you for asking what you got coming up on the show today we're going to talk about something that you talk about this morning on the Burnham's new scheme to get homeless people off the street so we've been hearing this morning Chelsea been talking about it's a lot the Burnham has introduced this idea that gives every homeless person a bed for the night you know actually a bad direction of this and it's raised a lot of questions about whether or not about how we approach homelessness and whether or not we should or shouldn't give. To people who are begging on the streets there is an article in one of the papers actually where Andy Burnham is said you know don't give the money because it doesn't really help right and people are really conflicted on this so on the one hand people are kind of burning a say in the I would probably profess that as well I'd probably say actually you need to use that money to actually spend a lot of time in one particular guy did I didn't I'm not just a couple of years ago I'm a guard I'd literally just fell over him on the and he was sort of measure of sleeping bags and cardboard boxes and he was selling poetry so I was kind of interested not saw. Them for him with a bat for about half an hour for 5 minutes got trapped in this incredible story that he ended up that through no fault of his own he lost his wife and lost his job in quick succession and not the way I mean and how you can apply that wrong life I think when they say you only something like 2 paychecks away from being on the straight completely absolutely completely So yes I got to speak to him and got a really interesting insight into the realities of life on the street and the fact that he doesn't he doesn't ask for money per setting he sells his poetry so he's not necessarily begging in the sort of traditional sense of it but he says that people are more inclined to give him stuff and I would probably I probably couldn't buy it but have failed coffees sandwiches things like that and he says that he gets plowed with so many sandwiches with so much bread to the point he can't eat it because he gets it's not good for a point he sort of described as by his by this bread so you don't really think about the idea do you define that actually this guy's got hundreds of some which is a day which is OK It's going to feed him but it's only going to going to get him so far I would profess that money is better spent all. On charity at the booth center except for the shelter if that that money is probably better sent to a central pot you can actually physically use them the helping don't like they do that a 1000000 times when I see them with dogs that really gets me yeah so I know a lot of these beds that being made available now being made available to people with dogs homeless people dogs because. I so I said to my husband if I had my dog and she was my best friend and she was all out in the world and they said come and sleep in a dog I would leave a man standing strain. Why is it that they can go in so that it's not the big thing it is mentioned what it was it was I find that quite strange and I feel the same way by the way so this is no criticism by funny questions that I would be sort of more inclined to want to help a dog than a human use them and then take the dog being with the human for you to sort of just looks at least have a plus sign option and you just yeah you see that bond between them often you know that rots in a little sleeping bag and there's lay on the nail and I don't it just it just gets Maine where.
