Dressed as a witch. Might come back from my radioman just travel 6 minutes past the latest on the roads now with Sarah bone and good morning thank you faecal today 66 Barry says there's the been an accident on the southbound M. 66 it certainly has been something because the key was quite big there all the way for me to feel it's just solid through towards Barry right away down towards Simister island and then Chan was on the M 68 telling us about broken down Laurie thought it was part of same thing but thinks a separate problem just before you get to see Mr This is quite the queue heading to from Heywood 19 to 18 there's a slight break in the traffic and then it gets slow again from Prestwich approaching Swinton you know all the traffic backing up to you both since you were on these lines a 676 main route this into Bolton from the M 61 of West HORTON It's closed near the Tesco carriage just need to it Oriel straight where there's been an accident so it's actually closed 676 Suellen again on the A 57 approaching from caddies headway and 6 Q It's there from notes that towards 20 want to Woolston that was an accident which I understand now has been moved to the hard shoulder but I'd say schools in these tailbacks an extra 25 minutes also probably delays where you'd expect elsewhere deeds will stop what is sure the shells and ling that flow towards So just away from Manchester Airport trying to get on to the M 60 there is a little bit of a queue around the M 56 any problems please do give us a cool hour a 100 to 18 double to. See a break 1st weekday mornings from 6 B.B.C. Radio Majesty. It's 7 minutes past the 1st of November Christmas will be a Before you know I've been asking you this morning times that you stepped out of your comfort zone to do something that you didn't think that you'd be able to achieve with had some amazing Cola's on Jane is husband died suddenly she lost 4 stone and . Being nominated by Had Jim to go down to London to be in photo shoots for magazines shows she absolutely loved it still got the pictures now we've also spoken to Tina he's scared of heights so decided to push herself and do hot air ballooning and zip wiring through North Wales she said if she can achieve that she can do anything and it's all off the back of me revealing all yesterday on a Calendar Girls show which is something that frighten the pants off me. But I did it and it was so thorough really enjoyable and I'm really glad that I did but it got me thinking this morning about what is it about pushing yourself through that barrier that makes this kind of want to do and want to achieve all the opposite makes people not want to do it Laura is on the line now she's a life coach from Cheshire morning Laura good morning is pushing ourselves into a zone that we're not comfortable with good for us or not. That's a great opening question personally I would say yes. And the reason I would say that is that kind of fundamentally the idea that we the idea of the comfort zone something we sort of make up for ourselves to be honest and what's really interesting is hearing you share those stories your own story and the stories of your other cool what's really clear is that actually there was never anything stopping those people from doing that except their own belief that they couldn't yeah so actually it's really great to push through that and you know what possible for you on the other side of the thinking that you have that it isn't because if any sort of life quotes about isn't there or my husband says one to me says you know great things are achieved when you step outside of what is comfortable for you but people find it they don't want to I didn't want to do that yesterday in case the picture made me look fat and it made me feel upset about myself and you know all of those different things and so I suppose we could all do so many things that we don't do because we think we can or we think they might make us look silly it's so true and what I what I increasingly find when I'm working with clients is that what tends to happen is and I don't know if you experienced this before you before you did your show yesterday but we tend to tell ourselves and all whole lot of stories about what might happen or what isn't possible for ourselves so for example let's say you've got somebody who he wants to have an online business but isn't comfortable with technology they might be saying to themselves I'd like to have an online business but I'm rubbish with technology it scares me and I'd never be able to keep up but actually apart from the 1st part of the statement which is I'd like to have an online business the rest of it is just a story that we're telling ourselves about what isn't possible whereas if you can just kind of state the thing that you want to do even if it looks a bit scary and then put a full stop after that you can get rid of all that noise and thinking about what it seems isn't possible I just tell you guys I stop thinking about. Agreed to do and just put one of them is all I knew about was on the stage with the pops out so there wasn't much I could do with. Any of the burn you know that was about one foot in front of the other that the other people think about the thing that I want to think that might look at it looks like you're pushing it and they sort of look where they are now and think well I could never do that but as soon as you say it's usually has a really small action they get your own way where you are now to where you want to get something really simple but we complicate the in our thinking by go no go to the book we do that and then have an awful lot of thinking about sort of kind of crippling the idea all the ambition all go even get. A little bit we need to stop stop thinking about it and just put that one foot in front of the other Laura thank you so. It is 12 minutes past I was just going to talk a bit more about the top story that look I had in the news that irritates o'clock a plan being launched today to provide a bad for everyone who sleeps rough in Greater Manchester and it's thought that between 405 a. People in our region do that regularly sleeping outdoors now the scheme is called a bed every night and this winter will mean that there'll be more beds available at night shelters than ever before let's have a little listen to at least one Kavin Now there are a couple who met on the streets and then now living in a hostel in fall of the old mill a lease. Treats for 4 months. Kevin alcoholic I'm now struggling to go off the booze I run in the because. You don't know what. You don't know what's going to happen. Especially a week. Of life you know love is going on around the streets on your in for years till 3. How cold does it get in a sleeping bag in a doorway in winter on the streets of Manchester. It can be very cold. Yourself. And I wish your apple. About you 2 back I was sure you have a friend for a chance for a friend. I just ran. Away from a friend of mine was raising me so my move in together was it's oh so that's least when Kevin I've met on the streets I might write is in the studio with me he is the lead on homelessness at the Greater Manchester combined authority Good morning Mike morning we tweeted about this and it's gone off I mean people care about this and you want to eliminate the need for real sleeping within 2 years is that achievable would you say we actually believe it is we've already made some headway I think in some of the problems we put in place through France or social impact bond we know we've already got a complex for 130 people sustainably off the streets in the past 12 months actually which you which is fantastic. The better for not company not. Please is a step on the journey for us I think it's an improvement on what we did last year which was itself more than we have today legally. Bought this is the 1st opportunity of hard for will turn local authorities who will support this initiative to have this kind of accommodation sustainably right from the 1st of November today right through to 31st of March in the that's really critical that's something that's never been tried before and a big difference that a lot of them will be 24 hours open so it's not just in the day you know go to a day center it's open Absolutely in that the provision will be will be slightly different in different in different areas but actually the critical thing and it is part of our learning from last year is that we did a really good job. Getting people off the streets but actually it wasn't sustainable so people came in off the streets if it went to 0 as you just heard how called again Greater Manchester but actually we missed opportunities to work people with people more sustainably and the what we've loon's has fed into our thinking this year which is to make the accommodation available for that period of time we don't want people to be staying from the 1st of November 31st of March we want to move people through Actually we want to be able to close some of these centers because they're not needed by the end of this period if we can't but it's the sustainable solution that's really really important how is it going to work Mike how do you get the message out to these people that this is here and this is for you yeah I mean things like today are are fantastic Actually we all information for referring people into the scheme is on the street support on that website and there's also a street support up so we'd really encourage people to download that also opportunity for people to give to not only only money but also time. Food such as already really critical through the talk for Manchester website which obviously is forensic companies testimony of stuff there's most homelessness formed or through programs like big change and real change which operates in Manchester which make sure that money goes to people who really really need it seems to me like there's a lot of organizations that do great things and it's actually actually about. Having the communication between them to bring that together to make it work that that's absolutely right and the critical thing this is a right across all turn all turn of a. Sleeping issue in everywhere you go to Manchester actually it's just particular concentrated in the City Center Street support website the streets pop up consume all the referral information for every bridge in one place and that's the guy in the 1st time we don't that is part of our learning from last year so it's a massive step up so the members of the public outreach teams can get on that they know where to go they will be telephone numbers the contact details so rather refer people in or get in contact if they if they are the know of somebody or know or somewhere or know of some way that they want to help we want to encourage all that goodwill that we got from there is a bit of a sad fact that some people want to live on the streets they don't want to get off the street and that's that some of the burns change of language recently so you know to eradicate the need is fine but some people don't want to come in they don't want to sleep in a hospital I think it's difficult Yeah and actually you know again people homeless people tell us yeah I feel more comfortable where I am I feel safer where I am actually than than in a hostile environment and I think that's. That's quite a sad thing. Getting some real street can take months and months and months of engagement on a really want to pay tribute to a lot of our volunteer sites and outreach teams who do fantastic work going to speak to people every day it can take months to get people to the point where they're actually willing to engage that might be an issue of trust with with official organizations. A long time I mean we have a an issue with the concepts of kind of choice. But yeah it can be really difficult to persuade people that actually there was a better option what we do know is that last year that a lot of focus around deaths on the street we save lives last year we want to do more than that the share and actually getting people into a safer warm environment is the best way of doing that and this is the best the best that we've had business so that's something parties have to think you very much for coming in to talk to as am I right there the late on homelessness at the Greater Manchester combined authority. Healthy have breakfast B.B.C. Radio Magister. It is 90 minutes past 8 we got the latest on the roads in just a minute and we've been talking quite a lot recently about the film that's been made to commemorate the PEATLING massacre in Manchester have a listen to this we the brink of Liberty. We demand. To see. Now is the time for watch. Sounds great doesn't it and now the design for the permanent memorial that we've been talking about for those who died in the massacre is been unveiled and it's been made by a Turner Prize winner artist called Jeremy Della it's going to be brightness Manchester Central it'll be here next year that will be the 200th anniversary of the of the massacre and if you didn't know what happened because I didn't when this all started up 60000 people gathered in St Peter's fields to try and get greater representation in polymer. Basically But the people in charge didn't like it they panicked the cavalry charge to these people and 17 of them were killed including Mary Hayes is the 5 times great grandmother of Denise Southworth of MUST side who we've been talking to over the last couple of weeks mourning today says Martin how are you I'm good thank you and listen I've just been looking at the pictures of this memorial It looks beautiful How do you feel about say well he doesn't this is going to shows he don't necessarily look to and it doesn't scream Peterloo immediately which is a good thing because it will encourage people to go and look at their lot yes I mean like there's the impression was that you know the couple who wield the fire yeah because I think it's a good thing the big circle kind of coming together is Annette and all the day I know I've only got on the computer so it's not a huge size which the real one is going to be able to go down to see it tomorrow actually in town but to me it attracts attention because it could all wonder what is was in St Pete to live in a people think about what's not going to see the needs much nicer to look out the not little plaque on the wall that we've said you know is not really enough considering the enormity of what happened right here in our city well to those people so you know it's disgraceful that I was body munches to live there I'm alive I did I wouldn't talk about screw a lot of people the law about Walt the Pizza Hut I think his foot should Tecla poncing munches this history and what I would about the footage. Change at such a great pace happy to Magid which is a complete good many many ways but I worried about the cost being left behind and forgotten and I think it's very very important that we do that this memorial is way way overdue but can I just mention something there's a pizza to the mall your group called called Fitzgerald wonderful we're doing to get to detention and next year is going to be the 200 dollars pizza list that's going to be really massive everybody can judge you don't have to have had the ability that it evolved to be slow but this is where. A.O.Q. It takes a lot. Listen enjoy going to have a look at it tomorrow will stay in touch with the Denise and maybe we could do the show from that next year when it's unveiled or something be lovely to get together and and to celebrate to thank you so much not a lovely day. Front's Jones said France and he got the point shortly after the show ended we started to get several calls and texts I know France played Italy in the 2006 World Cup but they actually lost to Italy 53 which meant the answer in the book was wrong John's answer was wrong then the whole thing was wrong and so it should have been Italy which technically meant John would have got 3 which meant that Ryan got 4 which one mind would have won and so we've got a rematch today and both of them are on the line Good morning chance. Those are the rights and wrongs in just a minute it's 832 let's get the latest news headlines for Greater Manchester with pole of can the plans being launched to provide a bed. For everyone who sleeps rough in Greater Manchester it's thought around $400.00 people in the region regularly spend the night in doorways or under railway arches this winter they'll be around $350.00 beds available at various night shelters that's almost double the number last year police are continuing to question 2 boys aged 15 and 16 in connection with a hit and run in Leigh on Tuesday Leo Darlington who's 3 years old was knocked down by a van which had been reported stolen he's still in a critical condition in hospital cannabis products can be prescribed by specialist doctors in the U.K. From today the rules were relaxed after a review of the drug earlier this year and the pound has risen sharply after unconfirmed reports that Britain has struck a deal with the E.U. The E.C.U. Radio munches to school. And 60 pounds have Thursday Night Football to look forward to which I didn't realize was such a weird thing but it is just weird Well I've already know my colors to the mast on this one this morning and I yes I hate it like Thursday night rest of it my way it would be a non football night wife day just because that's the way it's always been No no because they that game on Monday that they played yeah on the N.F.L. Pitch was meant to be on Sunday so they would have played last night because they got back to Monday they had to move this one back which means they had to meet their game at the weekend because well it's already a regular thing hopefully not No hopefully not Manchester City very hungry this for Manchester City against follow in the A.F.L. Cup tonight Pep Guardiola side still huge favorites to progress they've already scored 38 goals in all competitions so far this season however the blue sense about Johnstone's believes the key to their success has been their defense. We know that typically She says this is the you know the platform for votes against goggles that talks of the more we can do that the easier it will be definitely more satisfying for the barque we know that we've done our job and then another secret the platform from. Radio Manchester will bring you commentary on city against full of big match commentary tonight 95 point one F.M. From 7 o'clock is where you can find it asinine Chelsea Tottenham Middlesbrough are also through to the last 8 the tie of the round is definitely the Darby between asked on Spurs at the Emirates Stadium if City do get through tonight they will be away to Leicester or Southampton in the quarterfinals The F.A. Are believed to be considering an appeal after Manchester United successfully contested a charge a manager swore in Portuguese down a T.V. Camera following their $32.00 win against Newcastle last month we understand that the Reds produced a strong defense in their appeal and that the F.A. Was surprised by the outcome it's considering its options from a ball to strike Allan gallons back Phil Parkinson to turn things around at the University of Bolton stadium Wanderers are only won once in their last 11 matches but galleys told B.B.C. Radio Manchester that changing the manager will only make things worse I think there's a long way to go yet quite honestly and it might be a little twist in the tale that might be the benefit of the kind of money I'm not personally I'm not convinced that he used to but you know he's the man that certain age to go at the moment for Parkinson money at the moment if you miss last night's Bolton special on sports at 6 then you can listen to the show on B.B.C. Sounds and subscribe to which is a new app by the way for me sick radio and podcasts it's launched today you can listen to B.B.C. Radio Manchester on the go and download B.B.C. Sounds for your smartphone one more bit of football news from north of the border to bring in the former Bolton boss Neil Lennon was struck on the chin by a coin last night that was thrown at him from the stands. During a fiery Edinburgh Darby between hearts. His team Hibs finished goalless he was celebrating in the last minute as Hearts had a goal disallowed and then he got struck by the calling we can worry sense all of a guild out says he hopes that club captain Shauna Lockley more play until he's 50 the 36 year old he's been with the Super League champions for 16 years is signed up for another 12 months and also continue to coach the club's academy talent guild are things that he'll make a great coach himself in the future Yeah I think you see them all over you know little bit where you don't. Know about it quite a while you know about the games or records as you know I know a bit we're going for a few years we've got a lot of them in cricket the 1st of England's final warm up match ahead of the 1st Test against Sri Lanka has been abandoned with the ball being bowled Dusty to rain in Colombo and probably the most bizarre story I've seen this morning the F.A. Has written to a number of non-league clubs warning that they will be relegated if they don't make their dressing rooms larger than they currently need to be a minimum of 12 square metres in the 7th and 8th tiers of English football that will increase to $800.00 square metres by the end of March next year so basically if you are non-league team in the 7th or 8th division you've got to make your dressing rooms bigger of why you get relegated What's the reason for the tough nor am I guess a little space is probably some safety thing is health and safety thank you very much Mark appreciate that say 38 let's go through the rights and wrongs this morning we'll start with that with Ryan's the last album recorded by The Beatles was in fact Abbey Road Akra is the capital city of which African country Ghana is the right answer all kinds of Everything was your Vision Song Contest winning entry for which I was saying of dharma of course Shakespeare's birthday is the same day as St George's Day Providence is the capital of which US state Rhode Island was the answer the Scandinavian pops does the Cardigans worth from Sweden that was the 1st one he got right he was the 1st U.S. President to visit China Richard Nixon was the answer what is the largest of the great. That they all lost an eye when it went to John's questions didn't get through quite as many today which meant they school was a bit a bit down in December 1963 Idlewild Airport in the New York changed its name to what J.F.K. Before official languages of Switzerland they are French German Italian and romance Roman anche said that completely wrong but you get my drift then we went on to Kurt Cobain Jimmy Hendrix and Amy Winehouse how old when they died they were all in the 27 Club J. Wellington Wimpy is the best friend of Popeye who wrote The Wizard of Oz It was from. Which city flows through the city of Hereford he went for 7 but it was actually the river why I went in the House of Commons to the M.P.'s called the House of Lords the other place is the is the answer to that and Alec Guinness played 8 characters in which healing classic The answer was Kind Hearts and Coronets So it was it was a 2 wanted a. And it's the day I'm looking 13 miles from start pole to actually be in the building. So come up with an idea a I'm going to get him to ring me whilst I'm Will Cain good idea to be and whilst I was nice that's like 2 things you on. So we were just talking whilst that song was all about me getting naked what I'm going to see the day you should wear make it what it was it's a this well there's a you know there's a tasteful photograph doing the rounds of me how behind to high train just yesterday I was positioned incorrectly at one point and the problem was like I could just get the hydrangeas males are you saying you need to get hydrated. Let's break this down have a good thing it was probably could but yeah it was a nice experience that is something I was very nervous about doing because go. Put yourself out there a bit yeah we've got some really nice stories this morning from people who you know you just put yourself out the comfort zone coming here to the B.B.C. Was out of my comfort zone I've never done a show on my own I've never sat in the pilot seat so to speak press all the buttons and I just felt nervous for like ever Yeah every show we did they were like we do it was like No no you are. Here because you put yourself out there and it's like Hello this is me and you can all be very critical and it's how I did. And then I'd hate the picture and then that I did it yeah and all the rest of it so whilst I look at that picture and think I don't like my arms like it's OK like OK yeah of course it is so it was it was an experience was it liberated No it was just really petrifying. And I wonder how these women do on stage every night because it's like Britain who hasn't been on stage for about 25 years or so she's come back and doing it and and Denise well she's doing it so they get to I think in I think it probably negative you know so much so me if they feel more comfortable that the option of almost like a new body stock OK you own you but you saw the cover and others just do it but you don't see everything you're always hidden behind a flower wheelbarrow behind it that's what it is in picture form that's manageable isn't it yeah you can control the day. To just put something into one place oh yes I would probably be fired from with that I did say to the Lowry girl just that us tonight have to pay me a lot of money to do this every night 7 to 800 people but yeah it was God thank you for asking what you got coming up on the show today we're going to talk about something that you talk about this morning on the Burnham's new scheme to get homeless people off the street so we've been hearing this morning Chelsea been talking about it's a lot the Burnham has introduced this idea that gives every homeless person a bed for the night you know actually a bad direction of this and it's raised a lot of questions about whether or not about how we approach homelessness and whether or not we should or shouldn't give. To people who are begging on the streets there is an article in one of the papers actually where Andy Burnham is said you know don't give the money because it doesn't really help right and people are really conflicted on this so on the one hand people are kind of burning a say in the I would probably profess that as well I'd probably say actually you need to use that money to actually spend a lot of time in one particular guy did I didn't I'm not just a couple of years ago I'm a guard I'd literally just fell over him on the and he was sort of measure of sleeping bags and cardboard boxes and he was selling poetry so I was kind of interested not saw. Them for him with a bat for about half an hour for 5 minutes got trapped in this incredible story that he ended up that through no fault of his own he lost his wife and lost his job in quick succession and not the way I mean and how you can apply that wrong life I think when they say you only something like 2 paychecks away from being on the straight completely absolutely completely So yes I got to speak to him and got a really interesting insight into the realities of life on the street and the fact that he doesn't he doesn't ask for money per setting he sells his poetry so he's not necessarily begging in the sort of traditional sense of it but he says that people are more inclined to give him stuff and I would probably I probably couldn't buy it but have failed coffees sandwiches things like that and he says that he gets plowed with so many sandwiches with so much bread to the point he can't eat it because he gets it's not good for a point he sort of described as by his by this bread so you don't really think about the idea do you define that actually this guy's got hundreds of some which is a day which is OK It's going to feed him but it's only going to going to get him so far I would profess that money is better spent all. On charity at the booth center except for the shelter if that that money is probably better sent to a central pot you can actually physically use them the helping don't like they do that a 1000000 times when I see them with dogs that really gets me yeah so I know a lot of these beds that being made available now being made available to people with dogs homeless people dogs because. I so I said to my husband if I had my dog and she was my best friend and she was all out in the world and they said come and sleep in a dog I would leave a man standing strain. Why is it that they can go in so that it's not the big thing it is mentioned what it was it was I find that quite strange and I feel the same way by the way so this is no criticism by funny questions that I would be sort of more inclined to want to help a dog than a human use them and then take the dog being with the human for you to sort of just looks at least have a plus sign option and you just yeah you see that bond between them often you know that rots in a little sleeping bag and there's lay on the nail and I don't it just it just gets Maine where. There was a tweet a couple days ago from a woman who was attempting to give some money to a bag in Manchester and she was moved on by the police she was sure of she says my lace address much the police of December statement saying that they were attempting to arrest that particular bag for aggressive begging OK trying to remove the reason of the situation but it has to go on at this debate we are going to ask a question this morning Should you give to beggars we're going to hear from lots of people who are knowledgeable on the subject from you as well to be really interesting to hear your experiences all of it and you'll take the Pope says yes do it Andy Burnham says no don't you go it is hopeful the the man which come to us.
