Radio London it's 3 minutes past 6. Islam to. I maintain. To shine a light on. Conversation to make a story if you can to bring it to a vivid level this. Radio London. And a very good morning to this is B.B.C. Radio London as it approaches 66046 I've got nearly 5 parts that gives about 55 minutes together this morning before Vanessa gets in she will be here at 7 o'clock and to entertain you through your breakfast show we've been talking this morning about the acting commissioner of the Met we're going to get back to that conversation in just a moment but I've also been asking you about Princess you've Janie's wedding. She's the sister of bit trysts that we often hear the names in association with each other but this time you Janie is getting married to somebody called Jack Brooks bank who was is a to Keilar ambassador who will want that job I don't know what it is though. So anyway they're getting married this Friday at Windsor same place as Harry and Meghan and we're having to pay a substantial amount of money for this Prince Andrew apparently said he's going to pay for the wedding itself but he will not pay for the security and all the other frills that's got to be down to you and me. Does she do enough for us for the country for us to be paying over $2000000.00 pounds towards her wedding we are in austerity apparently except when it comes to things like this should she be paying for as South $250.00 grand being added to clean up the teen up operation not surprised an average house in this country want to buy a house with that money instead and put somebody homeless in it would not be a better use of 250 grand as opposed to teaming up the streets of Windsor. To do you mind paying towards this wedding did you mind paying towards Harry Americans are some people have an objection to paying any money towards any royal others my saying well I don't mind Harriet at MUN paints who is him but you Janie why are we paying towards her wedding is it going to do without us are you interested should we just support her or does she need it I'd let me know what you think about this as a text coming from Dave he says when it comes to Prince's you Deniz wedding with concerts constantly subsidizing things of questionable value such as non-existent garden Bridges was $43000000.00 that cost us into an even happened at West Ham United tenancy at the Olympic Stadium and dare I said Munden 2012 I might pull that in these days of austerity not particularly it's just business as usual. This one from Anonymous says it's a disgrace to pay for this wedding out of our taxes but these greedy bloodsuckers raised and brought up to always half the snouts in the trough the whole gang of them. So that somebody would object to paying anything towards any of the royal weddings but do you object to pay paying towards you Janie's Where did we not paying for the wedding Prince Andrew was very kindly paying for his own daughter's wedding but he's not paying for the security in the casino hope aeration that. It's down to you and me to pay to she do we know most of those public appearances she made for us we're ready paying for our security detail all sorts of things that wear leveling out that eugénie and her sister betray us. I want to you think about this 2000000 pounds bill for security and turn 50 grand cleanup operation that we're having to pay for as well how do you feel about MASTERS The public have been invited but when you go when you both of you think you . Now a 172000 new facts this story that has got us all talking this morning and that is the inquest heard that the acting commissioner of the Metropolitan Police at the time stayed in his car as an officer was being stabbed in the Westminster Bridge attack because he says he had no protective equipment said Craig Mackey was leaving the Houses of Parliament when he witnessed the murder of P.C. Keith Palma he said that Kelly Massoud was absolutely focused on attacking anyone who was in his way when our reporter Greg McKenzie has the details good morning good morning Petry Craig Mackey said it was his instinct to get out of the car when he saw a colleague Masoud attack but he stayed because he had no protective equipment that happened as he was being driven out of the Palace of Westminster after a meeting on the 22nd of March last year now it can lead Missy to so I drove into and killed 4 people in Westminster Bridge the $52.00 old was shot dead by on police during the attack and his inquest where his inquest is taking price at the Old Bailey in central London now is to Craig Mackey was driven out of the Palace of Westminster colleagues he said he heard a very very loud bang from the direction of Westminster cheap station goes on to say that they then locked the car doors as they saw my pseud with a large knife at the gates there was quite a lot of confusion about what was going on so Craig told the Old Bailey he goes on to say clearly the way that the Mal came in and the purposefulness the way he came he was clearly a threat goes on to say that I could see P.C. Palmer moving backwards and him going down the thing still shakes me about the attack is that it was 8080 plus seconds in total it didn't feel like that felt an awful long time Massoud was then shot by a close. Action officer Mr Craig who retires in December said that he saw P.C. Parma suffer 2 term and stab wounds so this is the inquest into the death of the shooting of Masood So the other inquest have already taken place that was into the deaths of P.C. Palmer and then the civilians Kirk Cochrane Leslie Rhodes I sure frayed and Andrea creased that finished last week in the corner ruled that all 5 had been unlawfully killed so this inquest is ongoing and we'll hear from other officers through the course of the inquest has been adjourned until tomorrow when 2 crews protection officers will begin to give their evidence I you know that this is interesting isn't it to to know who's close protection officers these were where they so Craig's close protection offices What were they doing there who were they protecting and maybe it was from their advice that they stayed in the car however he says that they went to college he was accompanied by 2 colleagues who were not police officers and a close protection officer is a police officer so maybe maybe had nothing to do with the Craig he goes on to say that we have. That he said that we had no protective equipment no radio says I've got 2 colleagues with me who were quite distressed so we moved out he says he added if anyone had got out the way this Masoud was looking anyone who got in his way would have been a target so as Bamma was there exactly as a people were I mean as we'll hear more and more evidence at the inquiry I'm sure people will have opinions and you know take you back to members of the public I'm sure jumped in your. When Lee Rigby was being attacked many years but a few years ago yeah and also at the London Bridge attack as well so that I mean this will it will come out in the wash We'll find out much more as this inquest goes ahead to correct thank you very much indeed for that that is topic of our conversation this morning as to what we believe will just end of The View really on what happened as this inquest unfolds there will be more information coming out Robert was called in from Croydon the morning ROBERTS Good morning yes. Most emotional guy he's probably done most Prius things over the. People. He's going to be remembered progress Yeah. I mean often. Probably. 3 Stanley and I still are so. I don't know what sudden this overall mood I went. I think you know that must be the reason we are going to such a similar I mean you know you must have been on the street where you go heard about dying from. From our corner up the street I didn't see a member. Oh yeah you know. But this is all this is about but this is a police officer we know the bravery with with with which to police officers defend us and protect us we know that they were into situations they don't stay locked in call us generally you know and you know you look at what happens in parades and they were off duty cop as we often hear about off duty policeman off duty paramedics off duty 5 people. Who run towards and help. And we are grateful for them because we need them and. A bunch of Abyssinia here I say you imagine. That piece of his would behave in a different way to the public yes. To that namely 5.9 percent is a tame I mean a few inches usually a member of a cult team from movie racial to some crazy guy or even many Well few teams over the years and. You know the such issues of such issues if you're walking up the street and people go in like there's a madman on a when everybody's running the boat not even paying the same you go back in time the study said in the time limit of you know if. I'm in a financial fight and when people see drives that time I can tell you know if not Mr Guy with a been present when they fly even and they for both I guess are 2 of our chat an image must come up in telling them about people calling me a MINOR Well that's well let me know maybe not must case because you don't read the previous Well people or the project but you know they're good. They're often just born an ego. Entering the fray does the studies courage probably doesn't move over the years a brief stuff and crescendo for the fire of unless you know that it will be remembered. I for one. Feel very surprised in my experience if this was an all over the papers more tomorrow with that kind of background information this is a kind of saying that newspapers love to go and I be very surprised that we didn't learn more about mac and his you asked me that over the next coming days and then you could be right Robert you could either absolutely could be right thank you very much indeed and this is something he will be remembered for of course. Every 17312000 rightly or wrongly you listening to B.B.C. Radio on the it's now 615. In the latest travel news and updates on the situation at Red Hill where we've got a fire of NS And if a train in platform 0 We've got 2 of the platforms a vent here closed off. For platforms and 2 for lines 2 of the lines are now open again so trains are able to run but there aren't allays and cancellations for trains. Because of this portage far underneath the train the rest of the trains in the cheap hosting a good service so from the Small me on the boat see a 13 heading out of town at the back to now the collision has now cleared and traffic back to normal there but in Holloway 7 Sisters very partly blocked just after the Nags Head at the Hollow a very junction because of a collision police still on scene and with that in the months of the vote and blocked off or down to just one lane at the moment the bus lane I've been trafficked there on the camera seems to be camping right any update she can give us a call 87312000 or you can tweet me at B.B.C. And when they do we value the B.B.C. Radio breakfast. We're looking for knowledge with. Humana mornings for 6 weeks is B.B.C. Radio in London. And a very good morning to this is B.B.C. Radio in London and it's Petra here until 7 o'clock this Tuesday the 9th of October talking this morning several topics actually the cost to the taxpayer of Princess eugénie lavish wedding is spiraling with an extra $250000.00 pounds now being added for the cleanup operation it comes on top of the $2000000.00 already squandered it not my words this is editorialized in the mirror on police and security but they would say that that's the Mira that's what they would say. I wonder how you feel about this the spending of public money on the wealthy princess who has no public duties. That's the thing I don't see had to in public when was the last time we saw had to a public J.T. So we're paying for her wedding but she doesn't do anything for us so I don't know what we can say about this Harry on the other hand does do a lot for the public doesn't he Harry Meghan I suppose Did you mind paying towards them at weddings you have a an absolute sort of hate your parents would any royal wedding or is it just this one eugénie and Jack. Knights in line to the throne she is the moments that being fast going down the charts quickly as any child is born she'll move further and further away from the possibility she has no public eighty's why are we paying for her wedding open at least paying $2000000.00 pounds towards that her father is generously paying the way. So I'm asking about that and also this morning the acting commissioner Commissioner at the time of the metropolitan police stayed in his car as carried my suit stabbed an unarmed officer to death during the Westminster Bridge attack this is an inquest heard yesterday the door was locked and he says he didn't he remained in the car because he had no protect to quit and to no radio but as many of you are pointing out today not his Socratic makea by the way as many of you are pointing out today the off duty cop is often Russian that they would no protective equipment and and no. Radios either but they do it and we rely on them to do so not grateful when they do so and I'm hearing from you on that this morning what do we make of that give me a call 807312000 K. Consigner now is here to tell us what's coming up in the weather so morning Holderness studio it's lovely to live in a roof Do you have any use to winter Well let's not get used to when tech is Summer's biting back over the next couple of days I was quite model of the smallest bit of cloud but it's going to clearly be a lovely day a really nice afternoon sunshine blue sky ticks all the boxes temperatures of 20 maybe 21 lovely nice that's today overnight we'll see the south westerly breeze that we have say for light we could get a bit of mist still going to last say because south easterly breeze picks up towards the early hours of tomorrow morning so clear that Mr other ways it's not really a problem minimum between $7.10 so again it's not going to be particular them tomorrow that wind any remaining will disappear that will take it away really breezy day south easterly wind really warm south easterly wind great day as I keep banging on your washing on the line because it's going to get up to 24 Celsius to know how. Really love Ray sunshine please sky summer with it it's not it's obviously not in last spring but it's not bad week tomorrow is the peak in the temperature we could get some showers Eva nights as a trough run series so some showers overnight Wednesday into Thursday but they were clear to another mostly dry warm sunny day temperatures the 20 one's a little bit you'll be colder. 21 to and then for Friday it's going to feel quite where there's the very deep area of low pressure which hasn't been named as a storm yet but it looks like Erin may potentially do that later on today but it's not been named yet because very deep moving up the west side of the of the U.K. This brings really strong winds for us it looks like the rain is going to Mississippi just going to get some quite strong winds but it's still going to be warm we still got the mild out so it's going to be hot and would warm across a whole taught me a bit of an exaggeration but woman when day and I get cited Now you know it's feel very strange on Friday temperatures still twenty's is still warm but really really breezy OK so it's a bit of a question mark there was the answer OK let's narrow my question on to you always I for if I was him to do it I would happily do it I would love to be at home tomorrow to do all of the washing forever the sheets the towels the kitchens covers everything and my stuff I get taken so thank you very much indeed for that so that's the weather up to date with now you've been listening to our bulletins all morning I would I would assume and you've heard the prison officers in England and Wales are going to be issued with canisters of synthetic pepper spray to help deal with lineman's What is this the on some Meanwhile the president of the prison governors association Andrea all but has accused the government of failing to react to the crisis in jails last month prison officers went on strike over the issues of their safety and this is all but said that ministers were trying to blame prison governors feel the problems it feels like there is a subtle. Pain that the blame is lying at the leadership in prisons and I don't really think that the issues in our prisons is necessarily about capability and about leadership qualities and this governance I think it is absolutely about the austerity measures that have meant that they literally have not got the resources to run prisons as effectively as they would want when in hs an is former prison governor and joins me now good morning it's you the former head of security it was with I believe stuff like back in the ninety's back in the ninety's I mean tell me what getting this Pappa spray What does that indicate to you today because we've lost control of Prisons always getting it back. Well 1st of all what I would say is that any measure that helps protect frontline staff against really horrendous levels of violence that they're experiencing at the moment is to be welcomed because prisons simply can't function of society would expect them to do with the levels of brutality and instability currently being experienced You cannot run purposeful busy regimes with fearful stuff so to that extent I would welcome the issue of any protective equipment that would help stuff protect themselves on the protect other prisoners but you know let's be clear here this is a sticking plaster over a fairly gaping wound the reason that prisons are so violent on stable at the moment really does hark back to the salvage levels of soft cuts that happened after 2010 so if you don't have suitable and sufficient numbers of staff be able to create an environment where there is safety where there is security where there is respect any amount of personal protective equipment will bring up back so fundamentally there's an issue with the austerity level cuts as you've heard the album say. Dissing is it that is the that debt is the thing is us why specifically asked that question that the way that I did is this is going to get control back of our prisons and have we lost that can show it would appear that to anybody's listening that there is no control in prisons we keep hearing about how dangerous how violent at they should be safe places for those inmates and for the people who work there when everything's that to make them safe cages for example. It is a courageous jail cells yet. Right what you've got to understand I think is that control is about much more than simply having him to loose to your mentee and personal protection controls a very complex thing in prisons and fundamentally control comes from having suitable and sufficient numbers of all staff to operate in a very complex and sometimes very volatile environment so it starts of having stuff that have the confidence to control the environment that they're in to operate it. Regimes effectively and to help prisoners rehabilitated so giving stuff the tools that they need to protect them like end of the Fed from really awful levels of violence is one thing but the bigger picture remains that you've got to put the resources back into prisons to a lot of presence to become the see if and well ordered places that society expects because we don't expect people to be warehoused and. Worse than when they came in and equally You're not going to be able to employ a prison staff on wages often inside. Writter London for example that are comparable to stocking shelves and expect them to be punched bikes I mean not simply isn't going to happen and you can see that you need to recruit a sov are voting in large numbers with their feet and leaving before their probation has expired because they're entering environments that they aren't prepared to stay in because of levels of violence and it's not just me talking about the idea really got to look the inspector reports the prison services own safety statistics levels of assault levels of self harm. Are just through the roof they've never been worse they keep on you know in Britain after Britain that gets released every quarter but keep on being you know beating records of the previous bulletins for violence a new kind of anything hopeful and environment like that and that's a little unsafe many people as well listening have have a different view of Prisons to the one that you have having what's in one and some of the them as being. The head tells us what I have very often that is used is just Does that frustrate you the idea that you know we hear about the drug issues inside as well we have all sorts of problems that going on in prisons the still people have a view that it's so easy to gauge prison in the U.K. These days. First of all I'm not often accused of being. Very soft on this issue but I will say this from my experience as a as a prison professional and it's quite simple if you have an environment where you brutalize people inside prison you're going to turn on brutes and walked who does the job for you your sister or my brother or somebody else's on some words on the road he meets a violent on reform than any and if that person he's going to create more victims so you gotta get real here if you want people on there or there are almost always going to be released back into ready society to be better we've got to have prison conditions which help them do that we certainly have to have discipline order and control will I say find a sion for the work but you've got to have prisons as places of transformation as places of hope otherwise we are simply delaying for the earth and then for their victimization How do you get respect back Long says the host in a prison. You know such as the level of violence and instability inside prison which is itself inflicted as I said earlier Gita the criminally stupid comes to stopping levels it's going to be very hard to take not gone back and if you want to do it you know I do believe that Rory Stewart for example the prisons minister is is serious about trying to get control back he's inherited a dreadful hand of cards to play frankly but he's doing his best looking at the top 10 of the worst prisons that we've got in the country in trying to reduce violence and drugs there but you've got to take the violence you've got to take a rump and drug culture illicit drug culture of the picture and I'm called back some of the grind where stocks are back in control I mean you know I'm sure your listeners have been pulled out looking at some of the images. That have come you know come out of prisons were prisoners of having drugs parties seem to be innocent a little Yeah I mean it's it is a is nothing short of a routine. Humiliation of the stairs it's going to be really difficult to get that growing back and frankly there's probably going to have to be blood on the carpet if you forgive the expression doing so but there must be decisive action it probably includes things like personal protection equipment like public but it's also a much bigger issue about getting sufficient numbers of confidence to buckle to links with the leadership I do depart from all that's comments on what the leadership was up to the top management level which has been missing in action and sometimes leadership prison level to be able to inspire staff and leave them to get back control of the torch this morning thank you very much indeed in such than the former prison governor there be more on that story through the morning here on B.B.C. Radio in London right now though it is 630 so it's time to catch up with the latest news headlines you travel in your sport starting with those headlines and Olivia Dimitri auntie's. Past the London School. Of Let's continue their preparations for next year's World Cup tonight after beating Brazil one the weekend as they have another friendly this time against Australia at Craven Cottage in London England manager Phil Neville says they played well against Brazil but knows they can still get better they realise where we need to improve you know in all aspects of our play but there are some fantastic football the togetherness of the team the but for with outstanding on Saturday I was actual little bit disappointed with Brazil a little bit. It's a little bit more than the but I think I'm stuck at telomere got us down to our how good we were how good our football was in the companies that were playing with the Chelsea forward Eden Hazard says he's torn between signing a deal at Stamford Bridge on a dream a 2 rail Madrid he has 2 years remaining on his contract with the police but was linked with a move to the European champions over the summer and rides told the B.B.C. He doesn't believe all snow will challenge to win the Premier League title this season the Gunners won 51 of them on Sunday to record 9 successive victories in all competitions for the 1st time in 11 years and a 4th in the league but the former Arsenal striker isn't convinced just yet that in I am Aris sides could compete with the likes of the champions Manchester City when we play against City Liverpool and Chelsea then if you can beat them like their national probably can challenge but that's what we're waiting for one will want to wait to see because if you see an awesome Bringers team go on runs like this so what you want to see is where is the change going to come where OK when you come up against Tottenham and the Man United can you beat them because if you beat them then also friends can get genuinely excited about the fact that something strange and in cricket and Chris wake says bowling conditions in Sri Lanka toughened believes it will take time to adjust to them speaking ahead of tomorrow's a pinning one day international against Sri Lanka the England also said it's unlikely he'll bowl many long spells tennis now on the penultimate Masters event of the season on the men's tour is underway in Shanghai called Edmond his assault British representative begins his campaign later this morning against Serbia's Philip could John of it B.B.C. Radio London at 635. The digital radio. Nestico 94.9. These is. This is B.B.C. Radio London. And a very good morning to this is B.B.C. Radio London Petry here until 7 o'clock this morning and whatever. Problem Friday and then of course it's going to be Vanessa She'll be here with her breakfast show at 7 o'clock in factual pop in about 10 minutes tell us what it is that you're going to be discussing with her this morning this morning we have been discussing the acting commissioner acting commissioner of the Met at the time right he's now Deputy Commissioner Scotland Yard Socratic macking and is an inquest going on at the moment into the death of Calis Massoud who was shot on sight as we remember after killing P.C. Keith Palma savagely stabbing him to death. So the inquest at the moment is ongoing about about Calamus seeds death and so there's all these people coming out we're waiting to hear from Texan offices and I'm interested in these people because I want to know who's close protection officers they were normally assigned to an individual I wonder if the bartender who's They were so I'm not going to speculate but be interesting to find out when we have men what what in fact was going on but what we have heard from a sick rake makea is that he remained in his car unlocked the door while the attack on P.C. Keith Palmer was on going in he was their own witness did so he was close enough to the scene all of this matter to have witnessed it however he says that. He was told to stay where he was and he also says he had no protective clothing and he had no radio and he had 2 colleagues that were with him that were not police officers so he did what he thought was a best thing to do let's talk to E.J. Who's from half a chicken morning T.J. Good morning to say good morning what do you make the story. I'm just thinking that he is high up in the police he's had many years experience and he must have been trained to be calm in situations like this yes to assess the situation and decide on who best not only for the person being attacked for those better with people there could see may have made a decision that he could have put them in imminent danger. By his actions to get out of the car yeah I did think that they could he could have said I mean this is just just looking at it and we don't know because we weren't there and I kept saying exactly that is that some people say well yeah but he could he could get out the call and ask them to lock the door after he got out. Yeah. Right sorry yeah no right so I thought that already people think isn't it that they would look at it and go yeah. I know because they know in these situations easy for us to say that when we're not in the situation very well you're in the situation you have to act and it's a time like that you resort to your training and do what you know you should do because he must be somebody who tells his men to put yourself in danger. In danger so in a said he may have been even more courageous to. Do nothing yeah I mean that is certainly that is certainly how many people will say it and you're absolutely right and that's probably what he's he's telling himself as well as the minute he did the right thing because he could have put you know cool more trouble weighing in than was actually on going at the time as you said it was 82 seconds and chaos was ensuing And maybe that was the best thing to do was to keep out of the way but I wonder how many people sit like that A.J. Great to tour thank you very much indeed for that point of view what do you think he ate there was a lot of confusion there was a lot of stuff going on. Maybe he did there I think back even though I I mean you know often we hear that bus is a best kept out the way that way we hear that you know people who are higher up the got so far away from the front line that they perhaps wouldn't be as useful as you think it's probably best if they did keep out the way. I don't know what do you think about they smiled who is now the deputy commissioner of the Scotland Yard. That he remained in the car because he had made protective equipment I can't help but come back to think Dave keeps saying Oh Dave said and that was that we had off we have off duty officers often without stopping vests and weapons and radios and stuff and we often have them coming to our defense stay away in situations could they use that excuse oh sorry I'm not going to get involved in the London Bridge attacks I didn't have a stop to stow me so I thought it best if I kept out of it what would you think about what would you think about an off duty culpa saying I was right next to somebody with a knife but I didn't have a stab vest on so I kept out of it would you be saying the same thing would you be saying what he probably did the right thing would you be saying hang on a minute that's not what we expect safe oh no there's a gut reaction isn't there to this tape is on the line now good morning somebody interview I don't mind doing he's got a job now so I have to go yeah happy. What do you think of this police chief Yes from a j that is saying you know quite rightly so we want that we don't know the circumstances particularly he had other people to defend in the in the call those 2 people that he was with he says what non-police off says he. Did it is there I think you know it did you think now this man is going to retire in December it shouldn't be allowed to retire to the 1st place he should be put on a disciplinary issue and be dismissed from for the Metropolitan Police now if you try to see if Live is a war of the mother of cake. Now this is a thing that man was on duty that politicizes than commissioner whatever is now isn't duty ilu but to call a police officer Cade could come out with a friend of a friend. Now you know them a duty of care so what it did a significant of duty as an acting commissioner it will have a no Darley and a metropolitan drive I have 2 police officers in that car that's to know my way to move around a chauffeur and they'll be I know Dolly somebody will look after him and mounted a person doesn't solve them for that matter make a difference so what does he mean that he hasn't got any protection due to police officers around wearing what do they call them Gladiator element. Does he want to be travelling to have a tank now when you saw somebody carrying a large nav is said he was confused is it part of addressing the United Kingdom to carry like knife what kind of a police officer is that yeah. It is a very difficult situation because Would it ever did to anything if only that round and stabbed him you know maybe it was just one of those situations where that leads us to do is to identify himself as the acting police commissioner it can take chat of the event there when he said I'm the acting police I have to fly something to somebody is supposed to take over what is going on and then you went to the discard line and then defeating them didn't use it in the apologize but I'm so sorry I wasn't the same there's a cover up this is a 4 star with an about it not him that's going to be in trouble the commissioner of police would be in trouble too because a lot of people here knew about this different long time. This is a conspiracy that is what is Polly this country everybody covering their back lot of people know about this become rich and I would know about this issue there will be some sort of that is going to advise him I did make some silly off so they keep sham this is not the way we were supposed to believe in this is wrong but we don't because my foot is a real danger not with our. Problems are put in 7 danger all the time. The Parma was a running towards the danger is not running away from it that is what is bad do to put it in danger. Because you are high off with that doesn't make a difference yeah I mean he did literally sacrificing himself to protect the set out to protect. Their I mean these says one of the P.C.'s quite rightly said get out make safe guys shut the door. Shut the door on it or not to police commissioner and why don't you said I'm acting police commissioner metropolitan I'm going to take charge of this why did I say that I was going to retire I would I like to retire I would dismiss the yeah it's a difficult one because the likes everyone there but we'll learn more as the inquest goes on tape thank you very much indeed for that what do you think 2 very different opinions there for you to mull over if you'd like to talk with me about it then do pick up the phone 171-2000 if you just about going to work you can tag state one triple 3 Stop with the word London concerts me in the studio now by B.B.C. Radio London it is 645. In Holloway 7 sisters from the stance of 7 sisters partly blocked off patchy because of a collision just after the next junction of Holloway by their choice. Economy approaches sleeker quite well and the moment in banks Li what Ling street near to the town hall in the Miami at this one lane blocked off because of a collision which is knocked down says of the traffic lights the M 25 looking quite busy at the moment clockwise around 5 or to the M 26 and 7 X. Also quite busy for junction 9 and never had the usual sort of morning delays building up on the M 4 coming into town the exit scene into town and moved on up towards the black tunnel in a moment of queues 90 signs signs up to the tunnel on the train says delays for 7 and Thameslink 58 Hill because a fire underneath the train in one of the platforms and so 2 of the platforms closed off at Red Hill at the moment as a result of that the rest of the trains and the chub posting a good service B.B.C. Radio London a small travel just before 7. This is long to are you saying that the ships should be coming down the referred to right nature can protect the material sounds pretty good a car diesel car we don't really like the market here literally thousands of luggage and so you say all of the black cab driver your friend over cycling is going to talk about Boris troublesome whether this is longer takes is B.B.C. Radio. And a very good morning to you this is B.B.C. Radio London petrolhead until 7 finesse and I will be with you that time is she just making her way now into the studio to tell us what's coming up on her program we've been talking this morning that the cost of the tax passed Princess eugénie lavish wedding spiralling with an extra $250.00 grand now being paid for by us it comes on top of the 2000000 already already spent on place and security at the latest but also includes the cost of mobile toilets stewards and barriers along the route of the minor royals open topped carriage ride will take place she's going to be disappointed isn't she compared to the crowds that were there. For Meghan and Harry I think. Could be a little bit embarrassing of that big party that you plan and they would turns up. The spending of public money on the princess who has no public duties is causing some Fiore. So there is she has Nashton during frost so why should we be paying for her wedding you have checked into would you do to all of them getting any of your cash. And also we will continue talking about the acting commissioner staying in the car during that Westminster attack on P.C. Keith home Vanessa is him now good morning morning obviously that's a big story today the story of the acting commissioner of the Metropolitan Police said Craig Mackey and the deputy commissioner of Scotland Yard who saw P.C. Keith Palmer being killed he saw him topple over and hit the ground and he stayed in a locked car well you know he says that he was told to do so but he had no protective equipment and no radio because to me that I bet every one of them had a mobile phone so they went without means to access the rest on the other hand he said 1st and foremost I was a peace officer I went to the door to get out one of the pieces quite rightfully said get out make safe go shut the door that's when I thought I've got to stop putting everything we need in place with what neighbor checks of equipment no radios conscious my 2 colleagues were not police officers if anyone had got out the way this my suit was looking I think anyone who came up against that individual would have a serious serious injury if not well case P.C. Case father did well exactly so so so it's a question of you know whether he was of the right kind of protocol whether if you were trained police officers you know that he was doing exactly the right thing is staying inside a local call or whether you would think that your training your fellow feeling as an officer would mean that whatever your training was you would get out and try and help in on alarmed police officer but I suppose if it's serious risk your own life . I don't know it is very difficult to understand he is. Still inside the company or dried and it's certainly not for me to tell anyone what to think about this I'm not sure really what to think about it myself and I'm sure you're not either really but certainly would take Wilson and I know the law is preparing you about I don't know lots of people have a very strong instinct that you know what I think I would action if someone you can see is in the dollar as possible trouble you try to help to do some very many of us would stay in a lot go on just think stay inside what can I do to help you know I've seen it I just know to get out there just know from my point of view that I mean it I would get involved which I do I get involved I can't walk past and see what people have to tell me about that one people I mean I also had lost all of a Westminster School which charges $27000.00 pounds per pupil for you year says he lies awake at night worrying about a Ford ability fees he says he wants the school to be truly needs Bly needs by not a phrase I've had before but he's blind to the financial needs of ever wants to come what it sounds if you say if you don't have all the fees doesn't matter how many wait them that would be rather calling to these people who all. You know scrimping and saving to pay $27000.00 pounds per child to get to that school $27.00 grand off last week on the show we did a whole program what do you think is worth paying private school fees and the audience pretty pretty divided on that one and the experiments being carried out this morning to find out if a rush of adrenaline can improve your working day he was standing up World reporter Greg Mackenzie down that giant slide outside the Olympic Park to see what that does with concentrations I will say. Next I see it's a symbol of that I'm all coming up with Vanessa. In about 1015 minutes time here on B.B.C. Radio London and I was saved she's continuing with a conversation that we started on the acting commissioner of the time to Craig Mack . A couple of text just want to read quickly. This from Allen said this company who stayed in his car while his brave colleague was being stabbed should have at least tried to divert the killer by driving out to him or at least should have shouted he should lose his vast pension and be sacked on this one from Andrew there was that civilian 2 who attacked a knife wielding wielding terrorist in a cafe stabbed and survived I don't know if I would have but I did intervene twice stuff a gang attacking a lone man with this policeman have he's a disgrace to his job. At that and 3 in Chelsea so the conversations that he didn't give Giles to with me about that of the NESA is continuing with that conversation in the mean time. To a story that we can't help but think has been directly lifted from some kind of Bond movie it's the story of the Russian suspect accused of poisoning a suspected poisoning circus cripple and his daughter in Salzburg last March the Invesco city of website Belling cats has named who they think it is the Web site claims that Dr Alexander Miskin which I believe is a pseudonym graduated from one of Russia's elite military medical academies where he was recruited by the Russian intelligence agency that all you joining me now is Andrew Roth who is the Moscow correspondent for The Guardian and good morning and traitor. Good morning this morning this is an extraordinary story that just keeps on opening up how much do we trust this investigation every websites Belling cats that they have found the right person. I mean you know an incredible exterior and of course. Looking at the investigation and waiting for her you know kind of official confirmation that that I think is the director say that it often relies on open sources and so what we're expecting to see today is more explanation of how exactly the identified this person Alexander Nevsky which actually supposedly his real name was right I mean like the fake name is so Alexander Petroff wasn't the alias. Exactly. I mean. I do think that it's when when I 1st read this story I'm before I found out that it was from this web site I assumed it would have been our our our own services the secret service M I 6 or 5 that might have discovered this it says is this an embarrassment then will they be checking into the facts here will they have anything to do with this pretty severe way of them leaking it without. Having to go public. Yeah absolutely I mean that's one of the theories of this is after of course by the Russian government to a certain point is that God has some kind of connection with the authorities or that they've been leaked. Out of office or that people have given them tips in this case so we don't know you know who all those ready people are I mean whether or not the British services to is a different question right because they have different and so balanced out is basically a media organization you know they're investigating but they're looking to put up signs that were as you know that my side of my sex they have a much different goal which is to learn something else and kind of change their activities to the stand your canvas hitter so they actually have quite different here. Doesn't necessarily mean that they get the identity of this person the other thing I would say is that there's a lot of information that's available on the express at the moment both on social media but also because their base and the roster data we're talking about our sport registration and car registration started later possible to. You run down a lot of the names here and I think it does look like a major intelligence failure for for the rest I was afraid of us with of course everything is being denied by Moscow that that's everything kids deny deny deny on their. Border we going to if this information is trail the next attack Padrino is what we do with it and there is a sense that there is not much that we can do with it. Right in the middle. Of the moral question behind the whole look and you know concretely. Government so far you know the U.K. Government the U.S. Government says one thing happened and the Russians deny it at the spy you know here's what I think this is and these cases. There's never a point where a body just says OK you know we agree but you know the evidence is overwhelming and we're all going to kind of the ball forward based on that yeah so I think you know it's really a question of her you know the 1st one is the reaction. To actually you know came to policy saying let's take a security regulation to fine people the other is is you know really an argument that this is important or for the public record you know the Russian government yesterday said that the men who were caught in the Netherlands words as technically I He system the local embassy not trying to hack into the C.W. Which is a sort of chemical weapons was started in a bad work fairly absurd. And the reason that they were forced to make that statement is because all the evidence had been made public so I think that they're correct recognition that there's a good public relations battle going on right now and it's tainting the way that this kind of intelligence goes public. With the timea Putin. Himself once a man in the K.G.B. Or the. G.R.U. Himself he's not likely to have. Access to any part in this or anything else that he's been accused of ever meddling in an election. You know I mean he has no interest in that you know this is the it's important to remember that you know the state and some from you know blood in the process and from other governments ministers they're paid to support the interests of the Russian state and they view it as a patriotic duty it isn't a big discussion in Russia among journalists don't like right now about whether or not they should help with this investigation because there's no real aspect of you know that Mark was the building. Here much more question our. Intelligence and Foreign Intelligence Service that becomes more a question of. You know it's something that we all we got to keep in mind there are a lot of paid advocates for the rest. It is fascinating and I can't wait to learn more as this all unfolds thank you so much and has been a real pleasure Andrew Ross Moscow correspondent for The Guardian Well that's it from me for today back with you though tomorrow morning at between 4 and 7 as ever have a great day today and stay right where you are because the Knesset is next. And the latest travel news in Holloway 7 Sisters votes partly blocked just after the Nags Head bowed because of a collision of the traffic in the area actually coping quite well. In Baxley watching street by the Town Hall in the Marriott there's one lane blocked off because of a collision and in all points and polls just tweeted us to say that Hoff and Cray Avenue close to some Andrews drive partly blocked because of the phone tree. 25 looking quite busy the points are from junction 911 had mountains junction and at the. North Pole tunnels queuing interview. Very slow coming into town wants to know if search point. Westbound for a 10 K. Machine to change screen lanes on the train's 7 Thameslink in G W R they've still got the trains far very ill after next to the track call there were a good look at the departure boards trains didn't seem to be improving ever so slightly the cheap posting a good service. Read your lines and small travel in 15 minutes in Westminster terror attack inquest heard that the acting commissioner of the Met stayed in his locked car is P.C. Palmer was killed because he had liberty of equipment and was moved to. Colleagues who were not police officers that's with me after the news. 7 o'clock I'm in Libya Dimitri on desk prison offices in England and Wales it's be issued with canisters of a synthetic pepper spray to help deal with violence the announcement came as the president of the prison governors association Andrea all but accused the government of failing to react to the crisis in jails last month prison officers went on strike over the issue of safety in not just ins a former prison governor and told B.B.C. Radio London he welcomes this but doesn't think it's a solution simply can't function society would expect them to do it with the levels of brutality and instability currently being experienced You cannot run the school busy regimes with fearful staff to that extent I would welcome the issue of any protective equipment that will help protect themselves protect other prisoners but let's be clear here this is a plaster over a fairly good investigative journalist say they've uncovered the identity of the 2nd man suspected of carrying out the soles were a nerve agent attack the website spelling cats names him as Alexander Miskin a doctor working for the Russian military intelligence service the geology A The B.B.C. Understands British officials do not dispute the identification all security correspondent schools and says it raises questions about the competence of Russia's secret services one or interesting aspect is that there are reports out of Russia today that Vladimir Putin himself is very unhappy with the G.R.U. Because of this because he's pretty himself a former spy a master at these questions about its competence which may mean there's a purge of its ranks coming the 1st stately class action in the U.K. Gays but. Over the course of a pail today after a ruling last year allows a compensation claim by thousands of Morrison stuff the personal details had been posted online by a disgruntled employee president Trump's apologized to the newly appointed seaplane called Judge Brett Kavanaugh he had been accused of sexual assault saying he'd enjoyed terrible pain and suffering Mr Trump was speaking at a special swearing in ceremony at the White House will be half of our nation I want to apologise to Brett and the entire Kavanaugh family for the terrible pain and suffering you have been forced to endure use air under historic scrutiny were proven innocent thank you an M.P.'s a calling for tougher targets for cutting water leaks off the figures showed 3000000000 liters is lost in the water network each day the environment food Affairs Committee also wants water companies to have the power to force people on to meet is to reduce He said London's weather now his cake insula some clouds are out of 1st this morning but it will clear away to please sky and sunshine pleasantly warm as well despite the breeze we're looking at a maximum of 21 Celsius later on the self today in a wave of night we hang on to clear skies the wind is from the Southeast overnight straggly in Samoa warmer as so it's going to feel quite mild Sanaa.
