News at 9 I'm more Alderson more than 20 countries including the US have shown solidarity with person by expelling Russian diplomats in protest of the use of a nerve agent on a former spy in Salzburg speaking in the Commons to reason may describe it as the largest collective expulsion of Russian intelligence officers in history Paul Adams is in Moscow he says President Putin's government has reacted angrily I think they would have been particularly surprised by the fact that the Americans went 1st and went heavy with this very large number of diplomats be expelled from the U.S. And then throughout the afternoon and into the ring this procession of others I think this is exactly what the British government was after and probably what the Kremlin was hoping it would not say rival demonstrations have been taking place at Westminster for and against Jeremy Corbin and the way he's dealt with allegations of anti semitism in the Labor Party in a letter to Jewish leaders released tonight he describes himself as a militant opponent of anti semitism in the collapsed engineering giant Karelian has been forced to cut more jobs taking the total so far to more than 170123 employees will leave the firm later this week Southern Health N.H.S. You know behind the country leaving the you you sort of thought well that's you know that's the way it's going to go and I'm now behind it maybe there should be a celebration I don't know give us a call to 007 double 240000 is the phone number text one triple 3 Start your message with the word London an e-mail. Dot U.K. As I said James Sloan joins us this evening to review the day hi James hello how are you young great some back lovely Hacket you've got all thank you very much Alan to that day. How long does it look like it's. A current member you had before or after he finished no one can see anyone so no one there you could have any kind of hassle but looks very nice very nice the guy after he did it the barber said Looks like you did it at home. And he said I was the one that doesn't fill me with confidence you're supposed to say that's exactly how I want to do it looking a little bit more closely it's very long bits and very short pieces a bit all over the place yes quite nice such a lot like that just for me that it's got this sort of shaved about the size Yeah it does look like I did yeah it's good for someone else he looks good we'll stick a photo up on on Twitter or something Nathan or take a fight of James like he is just I never I never write this down why he would then somebody would film yeah film pundit and Brokaw's I say Are you. Broadcaster Jane Sloan joins us he's on Channel 5 quite a bit yes right yeah access every night about 6 o'clock every single night you realise it was every night yes yes 6 o'clock 6 o'clock it comes on sets and you talk about all the latest films movies trailers red carpets interviews that kind of and this week what have you done over the last 7 or since I've seen you last one of the big things that you've been doing well I've been I've done this routes between where and where I work in the day in here because Bryan Cranston today you know he's the guy from Breaking Bad The idea that he's our mind is because his name somebody else in there and who I thought he was famous enough to throw in tonight don't but he's in the new Wes Anderson animation on. Dogs Oh yes When's that. Few weeks away yeah anyway and it's yeah I love dogs I love dogs right that's the that's the hidden pond within the always a I thought it was something about Docklands No it's an. Imaginary No it's actually it's a kind of like a socio political parable about. Not mangy dogs would have no homes they are they are taken and upon an island and they have to survive in there right there you know so and the Isle of Dogs did it all seen it yes brilliant Yeah it's the animation is beautifully realised and it's funny and warmer than it was Imus and has this quirky shtick that I sometimes find quite annoying but he's a he's actually written something really funny but he ruined for me Fantastic Mr Fox You see that's that was a great story that he then gave his pips to quirky things I used to listen to Fantastic Mr Fox on a cassette tape every night before going to bed and that story is very special when when you were 20 when I was a kid and I loved that story and then when I watched I was very very disappointed it was awful the animal they were there what America yeah I need George Clooney voicing one and just a lot of the charm of the book was removed but this is really good and but because there's he's written him self Yes and it has his sensibility but he doesn't he doesn't it's just released it's really sweet and but because it's upon in the title all my questions had Doc puns in them and I was trying to play a game of how long it would take for him to come home it took about 10 seconds and I thought you'd find it really funny but he he grew of course right prankster not wise I understood that he just gets into the head now I would have done that with him that would've been beneath him by thought Bryan Cranston would find it funny I mean he laughed politely but I could tell it was annoying and so there's no you London Docklands and it's all it's nothing to do with that there's no dogs neither It's got nothing to do with London or any other any other interviews or big city movies you've seen while. Gearing up for the latest Avengers film which I know you don't really care about your superhero movies but following the success of the answer they are it could end up being a wearing. A It's a really good cause if you don't have a. More flamboyant The better the tighter the better. Well you should love this then they're all in tie outfits Oh good Spider-Man even thievin thought has his big guns out. Anyway that's after the success of Black Panther everyone's quite excited Well the Internet's excited I don't know if individuals are because I don't tend to have these conversations generally with with people not face to face unless they're film geeks and where the film junket will the holding room that's when you can get away with nothing about movies other than this segment with you could you not go and wear one of those tight superhero costumes again intervene now that you know I 1st started doing that I met Bruce Willis really early on and I know it's a huge fan a die hard they said when you go in the vest and and take a like Per little Can your forehead and I'm going to hold the pretense of being an action man in front of him see how they react but it didn't really suit what I was doing right my boss is one of appreciating or you want to go and access it's all in one of them well it's voiceover only who would you rather be Which superhero would you rather be what if I could be any of them than I. Superman I guess because he can fly that's not tall enough to be something. Going to be over up in. Batman you could be the robot was Superman doesn't have a while sidekick no reason you'd have to play loving. Yeah. Yeah there's a very easy to. Find of 3 and if you were going around the Daily Planet as Lois Lane I didn't I'm sure you could be a you or you could be the Robin to my batman be the worst superhero G.R. In history I think we'd save any lives not really and I haven't run in ages with your last guest So you know I used to run an eye and when the American comes around I guess I sort of feel like I should do if you've never done it I've never done a marathon but not the London one which Martin today won in in Jordan it was short you run to the Dead Sea It's called The Dead Sea mouthful that must have been hot it was hot that the better you were quick you finished because it started in the morning so if you were good luck my friend you were in the sea before you got to run home and how fast you do it but it was 50 K. Which is just over a marathon it was did it in about 5 hours it was it was with us it was brutal and then you go in the Dead Sea afterwards which has a higher salt content the most seasoned I got these I didn't know so I had to buy these really quite deep cuts in order to my thoughts. Stronger when you know it's a lot of the chef in there so. Yeah so there was a half marathon in London on Sunday wasn't there was another one yet there seems to be one every weekend now the London marks off was that yeah that was it yeah yeah yeah to get where you are while I was in the center of town and the same story yeah so I had. The atmosphere with freedom I did the American said he generally did you hear this cliche about the people cheering you on really giving you a lift I thought sounds a bit trite as dot com really and he did it and he pulled the car from us and he ran out and they had all these people going go go on and yes it is amazing Yeah emotional as well yeah because I've done it 10 years ago and I was going to get better this time around. So James we're talking about cheating I now. Tend to reveal a lot about yourself in these moments. This one is one of them I've come up with. What to do but you know have you ever thought about seasonal cheats of the soul in any way well luckily when you said the word my 1st thought went to cheating at things like exams and stuff which must mean that I have no on the moral spectrum if you're if you're cheating at like games of you know monopoly and things with your family I don't even have a cheese or a ball game 6 it's quite hard to get away with it oh really I've always cheated a boardgames to the point of I've lifted up the board and thrown it away and for what it was I got so I got to strop now that cheating is under way this is just you know I have done I don't have to you do sometimes if the banks not watching whoever's the bank when you play Monopoly if you can just swipe an extra 100 of couple 100 but we don't know if you're the banker you mean if you're the bank he can swap a couple of more yeah or if you've got a deal with the bank you know if you know you say Ryo really you can do it oh yeah so instead of giving you 200 Basco they'll give you 3 or 4 you just you know you think that's a kitchen with your brother or something you say look this is This Is How We Do you know we can both benefit from this as sort of nice. And kind of cloak and dagger House of Cards type or you've done enough right yeah on to sports any and do you know I don't play doing sports so I never plan never played sports just running you didn't you didn't see in the Dead Sea marathon I know you know I was tempted there was a I did already done 2 marathons in the one I did before that which is a couple years before I was thinking of hitching a lift there was these like you know just land drives and things to just you know drive past and I was thinking of. Skipping half of just ending up being I think because you've got the thing on the tag on your foot they're going to know. That you can't really get away with are you can you can get away with it I was thinking about it myself for the London rather but it's not going to happen is that I used to cheat homework you could cheat with homework when when you were young. If you just copied it of someone else filled in the answers as the teacher was reading them out. Off as it was happy yeah they would say right you know I got your books now we're going to do now we're going to check off your homework and then you would just scribble down the only thing I got rumbled when they said you need they were said you need to write out the question as well you know just write the. Sum. And then what about relationships. Was pressing it is a bit really I mean I've always been honest with you before haven't I. And it would be it would be silly really I think it's you know one of us especially men well well I hope no I have no it's not a gender thing have you been cheated upon you are she that's quite well yes I would say yes she would have said no because she said Oh we weren't together so we kind of were so on a break at the side yeah well yeah just a week I think that's a bit rich to do that within just. How. Do you want to be with somebody else so I think it depends how long you were apart for we can go back together in that week. She brought me somebody else and I so I was like Well that is cheating as far as I'm concerned she said it wasn't so I don't I don't know what do you think oh I don't want to say what I think you know about that one specific about that one because it's not that well if you went together for a week if you were on a break as they say the friend said Yeah. It's fine isn't it if you're on a break yeah but we don't we fell horrible about we hadn't spoken about it we don't have it we had a problem conversation about what was going on so. You know a long time ago but yeah. That's very good for being so on if you appreciate honesty yes I do yeah OK So much so you can say what you can't say that you've never cheat because you have everything everyone I think everyone has done you I cannot think of anyone you know something I didn't have a friend of mine whose moral code it's not because he thinks he's he's above or anything it's just that he in his head he's like well I have to I have to live that way otherwise because you know that phrase lawyers always think other people are lying because they're lying you know I mean you see the negative in other people so selfish people see selfishness in others because they see themselves as the philosophical but brilliant but that isn't what we have you want I think yes absolutely terrible called psychology going on there not so I would say I think some people don't just because it's a great it's a it's you know it's so good. You know the chances are that might not happen to you if you if you go. Straight difficult. To explain your way out of when you've cheated it's explained away out of it isn't it. Yes if I have to do that in the past I have many times when if you thought about cheating Have you ever been called a cheat and how did you deal with it can you seriously say you've never cheated if you've never cheated give us a call 0207 double 240000 that's the telephone number of love to have you on the radio in the last 45 minutes of the show we're also talking about because David in the U.K. Plans an assembly member was on this show a little bit earlier tonight saying that we should celebrate and he wants the mare to make some plans about the celebration of us leaving the European Union London should celebrate it in some way like a party with fireworks or something or other a celebration of Britishness in Trafalgar Square he suggested how do you think we should celebrate if you think we should do it a tour or what would you like to see happen on the day we leave the this is Chris is a mouthed Rosmah B.B.C. Doco says I accidentally voted leave I put my tick in the wrong box I wrote to Boris Johnson demanding the referendum be rerun saying it was my democratic right which was of course no reply alas no rerun Oh well. Says thank you very much on email and on text I've got this some of this text is missing because when you do big long tech sometimes the computer messes it up which is annoying but I read as much of it as I can whoever has sent the saying goes I haven't got a name on this either but this is the text No we should never celebrate this complete disaster No I will never be behind this the more this may clear the more I'm against it I hate the racism in general nastiness there is increased hugely I hate that so many valued N.H.S. Workers now feel undervalued and a living in their droves and now new ones not coming at all I don't know with whether that's the case. The whole thing was so divisive and why was there no supermajority 17500000 people out of a country of 65000000 people who voted for different reasons should not be able to take where identity and freedom to live and work in other E.U. Countries not all. Many of the leavers mentality is not inclusive it's all but very decisive the whole thing makes me feel ashamed to be British It's far better to work with than against our neighbors and it seems you always have the air of superiority that we're better than everyone else which is just on true and embarrassing there are so many negatives to this and I'm still yet to see a single real positive It's already costing us more our currency is already lost around 20 percent of its value companies are folding yet the conservatives that caused this whole mess and in fact cause all the a stereotype that was unsafe and that's when the tax goes missing but I think we've got the point that have you James Yeah that was. Very well written I think we have the point that now James how should we celebrate leaving the European Union in a year from now well as your very eloquent text to put it perhaps we shouldn't but because we dilute we'll lose the freedom to live where we want in the world via a Twitter it's when we don't want to think isn't that true we don't know the answer and so we should if you have an ironic celebration so obviously it's not something we should celebrate but if you did an ironic celebration you could have another country so your friends could go to the place that you'd most like to live other than other than here in and have a have an impromptu street party in the middle of Barcelona in the middle of it we just have a party for Premier you know an ironic one so you don't think we should be celebrating or marking it because it's a massive thing and David and saying that it's the biggest things happen in city comes terms that it will be the biggest thing to happen and we're not going to mark it in any way well you could we could market by we could do what he's doing Victorian times and we could all wear. Black cloaks and veils and. You know walk down Trafalgar Square that was a suggestion we should we should cover all the buildings and in swathes of black material you know we could have a release you know it's Orca wake you know in the middle of London or for the heat for breaks and you get in there's anything to celebrate about it well I mean I don't know the subject well enough to be our sort of pick apart the small. Like my new Shai you know the bits that perhaps might end up you know like if it was beneficial to the economy I don't know enough to deserve it but that's interesting because probably most people are just like you don't read yes lots of uninterested in it true most people object on on the ideological level on a on their own you know based on how you feel about being European as opposed to being British and I don't how do you feel well you know I don't have a I have. My dad listening tonight he's very patriotic guy and say and I say we're probably he would disagree with me but I did you disagree in the referendum yes but I mean that's. I mean I don't know I didn't ask him specifically I haven't I I have an idea of sort of how he feels about the subject but I just mean I've never felt hugely English has never been other than when England play in the World Cup I thank you you know I get quite I get quite into that I get quite excited about being the French in football or something like that but as an Englishman Yeah there's I there's this weird jingoism that seems to kick in when when when. I when the world I mean the summer and I would be there in the pub going bizerk like everybody else and I always catch myself after the I don't care I don't really care I don't consider myself you know I don't really and what about Britishness does that is that something different for you well no I mean there are things there are you know there are British characteristics I suppose but they change they're changing so much especially in London you know that I don't I don't feel like there is one specific characteristic or well idiosyncrasy that kind of that separates you I certainly don't feel any I don't feel any warmer hearing saying you know hearing an English accent when I was you know any other Your record of metropolitan London Iraq no I just I don't know I mean it's nice to feel good to be British it's you know it's nice that it's nice to have that and I don't see I mean there's no I sound very English don't I so yes you know I've got you know. I've grown up sounding very English so that that does affect your identity in some respects what about I'm not that passionate about the. Different countries and so what about European Yeah European Yeah I feel pretty Yes I do feel your now that's interesting you went to that very quickly as opposed to being English or British that you absolutely knew that you were well here's the thing you know I haven't done and I'll never do because I am probably a little Englander but I like the idea that you could just stop sticks if you wanted to and just suddenly but I don't I mean I mean is it true that that's not going to be able to happen in the future because before the European Union people up sticks and went to live all right not great for well if we're going to celebrate that stays the same then that is worth salad and also are you thinking of leaving in upping sticks and going to anywhere you know but I I like the idea that you could you'd wake up one day and think you know I'm going to like my flatmate there's always been there's always been a way to do that before why would we need to be in a political union to be able to go and live somewhere else because that was one of the provisos ones and that was one of the sticking points that people had was that you know that was one of the things people risked losing and also it's not just for me being able to go and stay you know live somewhere else it's for. It's an opportunity for other people who you know might be in a situation where this city specifically is salvation in fact I have I have a French friend of mine and she's she's moved to today I think. B.N. Venues that is beyond the NEW was a nice welcome yeah. Beyond the New Orleans yeah she just got so King's Cross how much to tip out about. Jason Ross. Peter so the law and. You have the right to your your cunning linguist there so she just got to Kings Cross I'm very excited about it and that's great and I thought oh wow in a few years imagine if there was more complicated than just being able to pack a bag there's a romance and it's nice but as you say but you've never done it no. I know because I've been very lucky I've got my family and friends and a career and everything so I don't have any reason to put some people my and when you when bricks is mentioned as it often his career get back to cheating that's my point are you absolutely bored of the whole thing and the whole process in the whole debate and everything else around breaks it yeah I switch off and when I hear that word when I heard you saying I actually I didn't stop listening was because I'm in the room with you. And I thought you might ask my opinion and I thought please don't ask my opinion you haven't I don't think I've answered it very well and I don't have been picking on Eagleton it's your own you don't B.S. But I did The truth is I don't know much about it and for some reason the rhetoric around it the language around it has become so repetitive that I'm dyin I can't be the only one who just zones out whenever they hear exactly but that's why it's so good to hear what you've got to say about it that blue flag with the Stars the E.U. Flag when you see that what does it mean to you customs that's normally what. It is Customs for that's where that's the only time I see you come back from holiday I think in some ways I don't mean any you know I have to say I don't wave it in our I know I said OK now I know I said I felt European but I would I It's the I would not wave the flag I mean it's so boring to look at is just the start of everything have you seen the chop down in Parliament Square who is flying tons of them from lamp posts always trying to make an arrest from top to bottom in any FLATOW Wow No I'm not trying to make it a thing is. I don't think he's doing it now he wants it to catch on he wants us yeah I mean do you think do you think they're up the office they are people who love the you know it looks pretty corporate that flag it looks like it was made by committee in a room full of that's because it was you know eggheads you have no I you know and there's no history well bit of a leap but it doesn't feel like there's much that it's not particularly iconic It doesn't mean anything it doesn't it doesn't. Resonate it's not a vocative is it that flag night do you know what the theme is. No. Not member exactly what the gene is but it's not all I know that behavior you know I know that chain that one you know that chain fast if you didn't know that it was the anthem No no no I didn't I've said we have them so that we carried my ignorance is unraveling. But I prefer that to God Save the Queen Oh you did I can't stand God Save the Queen Why do you know I want to know what's much more that much more most of you know really good reason yes you see what the anthem is for the commonwealth games for England that gets the hairs on the back and yes a good gene is God Save the Queen and half the sportsman that you see singing it don't know and they shouldn't have to that's how they I can't stand that really ridiculous kind of pole clutching moralizing of people should know you don't have to well you know there's that patriotism you don't need to be able to know the words that sing on the telly in order for you to prove that you're proud of being British Sally has to sit in a one triple 3 London says unlike those miserable Ramona's we need to celebrate our Independence Day in Trafalgar Square under the statue of Nelson or waving our union jack. I mingle to the core and not wanting to be ruled by old men in the Brussels club him I never voted for God bless Britain says Sally although she didn't sing the national anthem No Thank you Sally and you sort of interpreted her tone with you doing a little bit of am dram there was. Provided training music darling there I mean I was you know the 1st thing I did was a professional production Iraq following all of the twister touched the no. Very good right James stone is reviewing the days of film pundit and broadcaster he's here in the studio on B.B.C. Radio London till 10 Duncombe box has London's late night radio phone in for the next 3 hours from 10 o'clock to be telling us what's coming up in the show in about 15 minutes from now James Sloane the film bandit broadcaster joins us to review the day we found out about. How what he thinks about cheating we found out what he thinks about Bret's that he's fed up of it absolutely fed up of it and now we can review the day and find out what he's got to say what have you what have you found James Well Claire for the pay dispute over on her T.V. Show The crown you know about this yes so she was paid less than her costar Matt Smith despite being in it way more yes she's the queen longer days here is the Duke Yes And and she's spoken about it so she spoke to Entertainment Weekly and she described it as very very odd which was very diplomatic when mistakes womanlike but how much was it was the difference well it's hard to work out it turns out that she was apparently paid for her contract for season 2 was $40000.00 pounds an episode I think or could have been $40000.00 or we're in the wrong job. I mean it's outrageous is it not as bad as when the Friends cast resigned they were already bored they didn't want to do another season but they were you know they said well what would it take they said we want to a $1000000.00 an episode that's the most all of them yet everyone and they got every every single one of them even whether they were man woman or beast and there's money that doesn't you know even the guy run the café. Yeah him yeah he in fact in London they did they do a friends there's a quick side notes they have a Friends day like a and you can say I did come to London in one episode and yeah it was when. I got married on we were much happier ground now until. About T.V. But oh yeah anyway and they bring the Friends set over and you can visit it so you can sit in Central Park café in. The flats and they brought guns or so his name that's his name Gunther no Gunther Gunther. Yeah Gunther and they they couldn't get anyone else they are asked because a friend of mine was sort of organizing the event they said We asked Jennifer Aniston and and the guy post honor and they all said no we're not doing that so they got they got the guy right have to come over and you could see them get if I take his he had nothing else on and it was in I think. It was in why you were found a friend he was I salute Lee did not find any of them funny at all whatsoever and I hated it apparently and it's aged really well but I remember watching it just because it was on the telly I don't hear it was on I prefer it when Grace that was funny or had had better gags I thought wrong I've never really got on with American comedies of that sense what would you rather be watching British comedies OK we'll . Vote our one through that reddish comedy have one for the greatest burning holes and I had this I had this conversation on Monday I was like Can you imagine what it's like now if you're growing up you have all these streaming services over peoples in whole cities and we had one from the great we had Hyacinth bouquet What was that show I thought was great keeping up appearances it was shocking really shocking and then. Residents laid. Speaking of. Say you love me now yeah OK so you had to go about 3 feet from the mike mazing British are no worse than the worst is last summer one that made me so now I've never like that maybe. Even the sick to running. Do you mean mean. They made the theme through the most depressing to have I know I agree with you on that one and remember on Sundays when I was growing up you had lost someone followed by the Antiques Road Show on Sundays they paid the game very TAKE A Yeah yeah yeah yeah that is the facial expression Jack D. Did a great bit when he was the stand up which was the you can the facial expression when someone finds out that the little trying to part in the loft is not worth his Nobody got it's right it's worth it not to go for 28. Devastated that they re mortgage the house based on the value I never always had always wanted more than. You could tell he thought it was worth more than I'm very sorry there's loads of these are made when they say oh no that was very common. There and they really think it's worth thousands on me. That when we start this conversation have plenty of oil platform so she was she saying so she just said it was she wasn't she said she wasn't surprised at the interest but she thought the whole thing was very odd and how much should he get an episode Well if she got 40000 and besides he got lost I don't know W. No the reason 80000 and I know I'm just I just jumped to that. If you think that it could be well you know why because I know I don't agree with it but it's because he was more famous at the time that they signed the contracts for the 1st season had been doctored and everything and I don't see how it was for you he is very very well thought it was strange that he was seen as being super famous for just being in Dr Who I didn't think that was a big enough where he was all yeah but I don't think I'm pretty big internationally that in the US the American show on the day off Dr Yes I thought it was very because our kids. Right cult to be about he likes a thing is very has a has quite British sensibility and I didn't think it transferred that well to other countries but I mean I don't know any weight so it's actually German W 12 is tax it on this one triple 3 start at London leaving the watches that celebrates English insulter and the lying and scheming of politicians are going to bring a long dark age on my goodness me the line right wing forces are leading us to a bad time Jimmy thank you very much very kind of you while you're reading those texts can we play the theme tune from last of the simple. Process what we see is a celebrate. We should we should have a big screen and a loss the sun constantly said to. Be having on the 20th of next year I believe the. Point Yes Yes I mean all right still would be happy with 40 gram but it isn't right that she's not by the same always it right I don't know what do you think it's the fame thing is a tricky one because if if his fame pulls in more people than perhaps he in terms of as a revenue stream he's worth more however just on the basis that she did he's a supporting part in the show she's in every single scene almost so her days would've been super long so it needs to be piracy just based on how long the fact that she had a longer work that she's she's doing more so she should get paid I said I think it matters whether he was in it or not it's just the subject matter that got the most attention being the Crown and the actual Yeah Jared Harris who was in the show who played King George and he dies off quite early in season one quarter of the Asli. He said that's the queen's father by the way King George's 6 Yeah but I I was surprised when he Kurtz anyway said I understand I understand they made an apology but you know an apology and a check would be more welcome she worked longer this is my point she was longer hours her performance is a huge reason why this thing is going to. A Season 345 and $6.00 send her a paycheck and a rep retrospect bring her pay up to Paris and then it no but I'm just going to watch his name is he's the $1.00 a little ways in everything I live in a Olivia Colman Jay is now becoming the queen but I just I like the fact that a costar spoke up because they usually they usually don't say don't want to ruffle any feathers So Jared Harris says he's such a dude he's great James thank you Duncan Barks is here with us now who is her no you're not revealing the day you got London's late night radio right on time yes P.B.S. Phone that kind of thing yeah that one yeah that one for tell people it's going yes please little bit of chat about Germany Corbett after 10 there was a protest outside parliament earlier this evening Labor politicians joined hundreds of protestors is a sions against Germany called in accusing him of siding with anti semites again in the game so we'll get London's reaction to that Tony Blair has been giving a speech as well at the speaker's house in Parliament he's been talking about Bracks funnily enough he's also given an exclusive interview to the B.B.C. Which is on NEWSNIGHT tonight so with a chat about Mr Blair and is he right to attack the Labor Party over breakfast because that's what he did earlier this evening with his speech in the speaker's house in Parliament I'm going to talk a little bit about stamps when did you last use a stamp. I'm going to book a stamps in my wallet I've been there for like the last 2 years I can never find a start when I need a static asian the I have to use one the scent of birth because I used to collect them did you yeah I was a boy not many right what kind of stamp Oh from all over the place that's interesting yeah talk about stamp collecting off the tomb because a great shop in just trying to know what there's a few actually loads down there yeah really good good shops good stamps Yeah but I've gone up a price rise in the cost of 1st and 2nd class stamps I'm just wondering how often people really use dance and going to talk about antibiotics because there's a massive rise in the global consumption and there is a concern. Although as a result of us expecting lots of antibiotics or more doctors why don't worry them not only do not work but increasingly there are infections now to the resistant to antibiotics and we've only got our selves to blame so we look at our after turn as well I was interested in finding the Queen's head on other stamps from our other parts of the world here I was fascinated about that how that got even you know after my uncle's old stamp collection is funny you should talk about his big old code and it's called stuff in there from countries are no longer exist Yeah it really only really talk well fabulous great stuff that's all to come a Duncombe box this evening from 10 here on B.B.C. Radio London James Lowe in the film pundit and broadcaster joins me here in the studio to review the day what else have you found James lower back pain oh. Did you have a back when I last saw you I think I did I can't remember well to happen now but yes it has gone away as I did it well yes it's got away and I think I think it's because I've been running obviously that it's helped it has helped Yeah no that is what medical experts are suggesting that you do really because given this quite a lot of quite a lot of a 540000000 people suffer from lower back pain it's the commonest cause of disability and that lots of people are getting injections and taking opioid drugs to get over when really what should be recommended is is doing exercise when actually it feels counter intuitive because it hurts to begin with but you find that you know it's yeah it's actually is it could be your sedentary lifestyle that I get that I feel better once I've done exercise and painful when it hurts and then you have a nice hot bath Yeah. That's the best beer with bombs or someone gave me a bath bomb a Christmas one. You know that that's a bull that goes on the true Christmas pudding I write off bomb I have Madge and I haven't had as Phillip in South nor would he send it to me it's a Christmas pudding bath bomb I haven't actually had Jeff and if you're if you're with us this evening. I think it will smell quite Christmassy when it came up in the bath now do you have both forms. I think they're cool because they say that when you go past the. Shop. Which actually everything created in that shot comes from my hometown of pool in Dorset right yeah it stinks when you go past that shop doesn't it shop that sells soap Yeah the soapy shot. Lots of different. And wherever you are that was not an international all over the place you can smell it it's a nice smell though it is if you have it. You know for walking down Oxford Circus and you can smell that like the drains or some like the exhaust of somebody so hard to put too much for me you know when you go into apartment store you get the perfume department that that I hate to go through because it's it's not exactly I can't stay there it's from Long Yes Matt I have to go straight through and just get out of it what I would I've never understood about the obviously exposed to entice you in with the smell but there is so no that's not what it's there for do you know what is that for there's another one from us yeah the reason it's front of a department store is Mr Selfridge when he had it when he when he does that and he was the 1st person to put the perfume department at the front of the store and the reason was to stop the smell of manure from our sides Well it's kind of a sea London had horses and manure Yeah the place so as you walk into the store you smell something fresh and nice rather than the menu which you could smell when you walked into the store or that you really did smell that we had smell of subway smell and I don't mean the train I mean I mean that the Yeah Yeah. I don't mind the smell of any fast food chain but that one has this does something to me some weird Doesn't each fast food places are something yeah you're right and that is specifically I want to know is I hold my breath I walk past that place I don't know or know about it's not because there's Joe I think in the wrong when they're so yeah yeah I think that's what it is. So it's got to be what I don't understand quickly about this parking places if you're going in to try one and all you can smell is all the other ones it's quite. I can't differentiate so how the hell do you know you're getting it so you're not getting something that they hate anyway so yeah back pain on the rise I just because the reason not quite like the story is because I did something to my shoulder and like and I couldn't work it out I can work out what it was and I really when I actually did a bit of exercise that it did ease off and so I am allowed to bring a bit of you know if you're just jammed occasional Golden Age Occasionally yeah they're very soulless plastic places full of when you say are you happy how often well you're supposed to go 3 times a week because you they say you know Monday Wednesday Friday that's nice you know and then you can have the weekend off but I never after the 2nd session I think I really really don't want to see this place again this week so I always suck it off so it's only going to I so weak you do it twice a week and then I will and I bought a bicycle from barking from a guy and barking on the Internet and this sounds like a song. By slim Parker I regard the Internet a bicycle from a bloke in Barking and he had loads of me at about 90 by some of auction and it turns out Mine's actually like a kind of trendy old school racing but I didn't know what I mean it was just cheap about 90 quid and so I thought cycling to work but I haven't been to you know I haven't taken out yet so because I don't go to buy the part about 4 nights ago right yeah it's only mental at the moment it just sits there in my flat I think it's more you promise me some are No because I But no I won't I will do it but I don't have a pup I don't have a look and there's so many people who cycle in love I'm not saying that's good or bad but so many people cycling without without a helmet Yeah I know but I haven't ridden in about 10 years so I think if I if I although much like the most safe the safest thing that you can do is obviously where how much of this yes yes we should suggest that we should do that but you know actually most injuries aren't of the head because you fall on your on your pit bull you know you're buying or you pull into knees or you handle something so you can have a bubble around. Or. Giant office bomb. OK So I mean I will try again so I think you should cycle in London should be there are what I see perspective the weather's getting better and I see if I'm flying around I think that the time is holding ever yet more than ever cyclists around London isn't there but you just get to whiz around you get to places quicker so I do think it's a I think it's a good thing I'm just being a bit of a wimp because I don't worry about cars pulling on stuff on the. Back pain if you've got pain start running because it did work for me it really did. That's what they say we do all day medical experts those ones for the medical care places like Medical Council and stuff like that and I went from that to snoring because that's on the rise as well because we're sleeping less and we're drinking more and that closes up you know these are passages passages and snoring and I don't know if you find this but if I'm in the same room as a snore that is the most painful noise are you in the same room as this nor how often are you in a room with this no I mean like you folks if on how many different rooms have you been if different snorers. Over like Fargo this one friend of mine a number if you stay over at my friend's houses. Same room. Or I always bring up stag days but the 1st thing I think about is with this guy we were having to share a dorm in this in this hostel where we went to Boma thought for a start to her and snoring was really bad and so I've printed it so this is actually not how do you know that you're not snoring because I know I'm not on how do you know I just know I just know I can I can feel I my other half says and he snores like Hal right he lies on his back. Saw it right down the side they suggest is it worse that's no better much better so if I'm in a room with a snore I roll them on to their side even if you know if I tell you they are. And. I mean I'm not going to read out there's this whole paragraph I printed out about opening about opening your nose and that's the best way because basically what happens is you look you're drunk we've had a few drinks in law you back you till you haven't got much control Sutil your chin by right and it cuts off the sort of the air waves in your nose you start breathing through your mouth and that's where the. Visceral sound straight through everybody including you next door neighbor probably and I'm I know I'm snores Well we both a terrible noise and the dog snore too wow so that's for snoring 10 of your neighbors must be thrilled it's and it is there 6 months of the year in Spain that's right isn't Yeah that's growing you can have pollen season most was one. 6 couples sleeping in separate rooms because of snoring so I know it sounds trivial but you know and they say it's because of diets weight drinking and generally the fact we're sleeping less I wonder if that's helping them as I'm losing weight and running I wonder if that's helping with us nor I reckon I reckon I have to say yeah and you'll be sleeping better it doesn't help when I've got someone next to me snoring me I'm a nice i know i have recorded it on my phone so he can hear it snore shaming because they always say no I'm not story I don't snore so you've got you've got proof that you can but you know yeah you go after this opens attacks today one triple 3 started the message with the word London says You 2 are so funny I can't concentrate and sorting my make a drill thank you for the nice. Job to do on a Monday night Jiminy Mick is going around they say yeah someone said we should put the Queen's knickers up the flagpole it's a deal. Mary in West Sussex says most puffy I'm in my opinion smells worse than you are. Love the show cheers me up no end 1st time text Oh Mary 1st time Tech thank you very much I mean I am time listener 1st time text I like the smell of manure as well what about you. I went to Vauxhall city farm yesterday. And you're surrounded by to invite me. If you love the smell of a new you have a great time yeah you know those I know I'm very well you know foxes as you farm yeah. And there's that smell because I haven't been. What I was about say I've been around an alpaca in a while and alpacas and llamas and things that quite manger it I don't know I went but it you feed them and it's quite fun and but they all everywhere and then I smell it now you see I don't I didn't know I don't like it when it 1st you 1st small amount on a farm I feel like I'm in the countryside This is nice and then you get used to it's amazing how quickly you get used to is it better than puffy What depends which perfume if it's can I name on the I don't know is that it's a. No no no because the same. Many out there what are you going to name loads of others OK They're all have one this one though including me is one that will boys War school where we're about 14 we thought it was hers not really was that one or can't say now because I was wrong so that's the one you didn't know Oh yeah because you wore it's cool Yeah right yeah. So I don't like them either I cannot stand puffy autumn I dress differently after shave one of my best friends or after shave your perfume or after any kind of many water when my best friend works in the industry. So I feel terrible for saying it but I just think it's so I thought about to say you won't believe what they put in he won't know he's just spent he also isn't Yeah I don't know how money that people spend on it it makes me he perfumes and personal pillow and you don't buy Web One thing that I actually like which he found for me actually and he said What do you think of this I spotted it was really nice and that's very rare OK so he gave me a bottle Oh that's wonderful and I said oh I wear that when I go out for a special occasion or something I don't wear anything daily to us something to you know I know I thought it was a bit cheesy high thought it was a bit eighty's I thought it was a bit sleazy wearing off to shave so I but I will occasionally like if I go it's funny there is that you wear for a nice occasion like if I go to the theater I will put Yeah I don't know what I get raises Yeah you just feel a bit you feel a bit more like because you might put a suit jacket on you might feel a bit smarter so for something like that you know when I when I was in my late teens early twenty's you doubt yourself in the stuff because you think that that's what you think that's what people like and it's rotten. And then yeah and the smile on Simon and Mary in West Sussex agrees. There we go that's a whole nother show for another day to manure I love to see the ads they ad campaign for that. What has to feed anything else I'll pack a menu for him. T G 4 he said OK OK. No not much. So I'm into space I've been relistening relistening So I would have been listening again soon Brian Cox is human universe it's a such a brilliant audiobook if you like space which I do it's very exciting so there was and so the the other thing you're like this but the Mars Curiosity rover spends 2000 the day on Mars taking pictures and driving around I just have they been sent back it's all yeah yeah what if they found lots of red rocks Yeah lots of beige rock and Clay it's not the most hospitable place you want to leave out of anything extraordinary yet I'm not there not yet although it's currently scaling a 5 mile I think it's 3 kilometers high Oh yes right now a 3 mile high mountain called Mount Sharp So right now this is amazing as we're speaking I thought I would have done my homework it takes 7 years together I don't know how many thousands millions of miles by the way right now there's a little buggy taking photographs and riding around on Mars Yeah it's amazing is yeah I just think that I think we don't celebrate a kind of stuff nearly enough I think that's. Just my imagination goes wild so yeah so happy but we're not happy birthday but happy anniversary to here how long has it been out there for 2000 days that's 3 years isn't there and so is sending stuff but it hasn't got anything really because what we all want to know yet what in 2000 has that been always there life on Mars that the moment we can find they will probably discover very basic microbial life that's what that are predicting they don't have the proof yet but they're also they are very that they think that you know I dig down on you know in sort of human side the rock and sort of where the where where we would find microbial life unlike our high thermal vents right the bottom the ocean basically you can find what they can really impressed by this is quite remember this the last universal common ancestor Lucas That's the building blocks of life that's the very 1st retract your. And mind lineage all the way back to the case that you know something in the water like the green algae like the something in the water you know without anything that wasn't even cellular is like even before just now and so they're probably find something like that eventually but in 2013 that was when they discovered that there were there would have been lakes there would have been there were just when there was water on Mars that's what that was the big discovery recently that they have the energy remember that yeah the images look like they don't know what happened to all the Warner miles not yet when that little buggy gets back. There is they come around every. Day Yeah everyone's ready let's yeah let's start the beginning here I think that's a fix is that pick of course is we want to know whether Well they're obviously was life on Mars that if there was water. Because that's the thing is there if there's water there's life well it's it's what you need for life but it's not guaranteed that you see interstellar with Matthew McConaughey I found or not I found another planet and that just didn't see that Noah's printing not as interested in. A. Couple of minutes left. And well know there was there to a notation for any voice saying. The moon lander. Good yeah well it's because it's like it's quite late isn't it well you don't get more it's quite it's quite late. Oh yeah I saw roller blade this isn't News this is just an observation or so I had to because I know my stand on the news and it's good when you get out of if you do full day to day well I mean just I mean yesterday taking a Sunday wandering around and seeing the runners for the half marathon and yes in the alpacas voxel city farm where you had a real good day I went on the cable car lover of the not loads so good fun of it I think it was did they find out recently there's only about 6 passengers on the table to your daily pass All right well I want to use the cable car all the time every day no no no can you imagine if you used to be such a government there are 6 computers apart yeah. I can't maybe the exact number but it was found that there was any of under 10 commuters they use it daily Really I've made a joke thinking Wouldn't this be funny if you if you could see it doesn't really go to anywhere that you think you'd need to work so I mean I did the very 1st live broadcast from you caught up in the sky you got a great job yeah it was gross it was really really good and Boris Johnson was with me know in the Paula Zahn easing and the very 1st live forecast from the from the car from the cable car incredible Yes outside broadcast I don't like heights I have to kind of get over that because it you don't act and you get a new life going on it well I get over it you know I get the adrenalin and and then and then I'm fine but it's just initially when I see the the river down there. I know when I went on it and it was on the breakfast I understand what it did the way . He'd been on it before he didn't do it he just just. A little bit of bumbling away that thank you James. Only I will get you back soon to review the day again here on B.B.C. Radio London where Duncombe box is up next with London's late night radio and I'm about to more from 7. Radio and T.V. . News brings you. Radio . News at 10 o'clock AM Stephen Davies a demonstration has been.
