Well reporter Greg Mackenzie's. For us this morning and Greg good morning to you I think you're going to summarize for us the details of the next stream a violent weekend here in the capital Well good morning again Vanessa Yes it was an extra stream Leigh violent weekend in the count to an n.s.p. Game last night stabbing here on Oxford Street now is believed to have been a moped robbery or that's one of the lines of inquiry the Met Police are looking at now the place was called here to the kept busy is Thai street $920.00 yesterday of reports of a stabbing now it's got to confirm it is a man in his twenty's he was found here with the stab wound Now witnesses went to Twitter and started writing that they had seen a man fighting to get his Fung back after it was stolen by another man on a moped they claim he was stabbed during an altercation before a small group fled on mopeds leaving the man lying on the ground clutching his chest just to opposite where I'm standing now another witness wrote on Twitter I was walking down Oxford Street and saw what looked like a fight as I got one guy jumped on the back of a moped and drove off turns out they stole a guy's fun because he had tried to resist they stabbed him for it now and it's a Saturday Vanessa This one was a fight to stabbing this man died now police were called to cross the top and Harlington park at about 1 30 in the morning a 22 year old was found dead dead paramedics on the London air ambulance arrived but he was pronounced dead at the scene now his family had been informed and emerge investigation is ongoing now and then you turn to Friday was 3 people arrested following a stabbing on the London Underground platform. About 7 am on Friday morning to reports of a fight on the Northern Line London Bridge station now 3 people have been arrested and held on suspicion of afraid they were being questioned over the weekend the Metropolitan Police said it was a stabbing incident and. Not relate sees the incident it's ongoing last investigation is trying to piece together what happens next on Q very much Greg which Indiana lxde Street today can Hines joins us on the show he somehow ring gay stuff and such monitoring group Alec and good morning good morning Vanessa to speak to you again and I hope you are well son Nice to talk to you but always it seems on the same subject too much knife crime in the capital and too many people losing their knives 12 already so far and it's any defense of the yes. As it was mentioned in that briefing there's a young man who caused that to death in top you know happened I happened to be mean to people young lady our lady she rang 'd me up and saying that it was one of her. One of the young men that attended her church started the course and was ambushed at my step step today is business so senseless and so heartbreaking you know heartbreaking to keep going over the same thing over and over again and when we caught people like them is who's so cool such a cheap attack a knife crime I really don't know what that is I mean. And I would challenge how effective that's going to be because if he's if he's finking focusing on young people trying to attack amount themselves it it will work because primarily the people who spotted all this are the elders and the eldest daughter is not. In the black community as in the solution has to be a mouse asked in that community and if they were to get people myself the resources to actually. Happen. To changed the culture of what we call initially no snitching. It would be much more effective Dems them for in money rappers and other people who news AIG is possibly escalated. But the tension in the boy looked Let's hear it because when you call it music best that's disrespected and. Rim in this respect in man and this and happen over the valley for life it's not surprising that the younger people as hearing this some time into this is taking it to another level. And when you say because were you referring to a London message the current campaign to try to stamp out knife crime using rappers and and opinion formers and influences that's the word that people use these days to people with lots of Twitter and Instagram followers and also of course all the means of social media that the young people you know like the increasingly changed in ways week by week you're not convinced that that's going to work you don't think it's going to have the impact the maps it will become Vince is not going to work because what I have to this is primarily is that these gentlemen who are generally walking around with these so-called Rambo style knives saying that they're walking around because they don't feel safe on the street so it's on to sleep on the street doesn't matter. What to put him in regards to bloggers and rappers what has to happen is that we've got to have something in place and like for example the hi hi viz. People with the community standing around in this hot spot a real to actually engage with these young men to show them that we are here to to keep them safe but we also need also to tackle the rage and the other things that these young men that be struggling with that and that's where mentoring program come in when I talk about rage because now we don't have people listening this morning it had they had some Frosties that had to be porridge or they they rushed to what was an apple in that bucket they just about to you know get on a bus to get on a train it's really cold out there today and they will be thinking for God's sake rate. You know what if young people got to rage about the dead they've been living in one of the most prosperous if not the most prosperous and exciting capital in the world would free education free healthcare to Mendis potential to reach whatever it is they want to reach in the world what kind of rage if they go. Look I'm not condoning it but when you look at the su a peer pressure when you look at the sort of images as out there that you're going to be this tough guy you're going to have this angry face on you and you've got to be very disrespectful of authority so when you call these kind of things in play it actually plays up to these young men because the Took an example last Wednesday when on patrol with the Metropolitan with the British Transport Police or the mit police or Stratford station who's got operation cooperation Ingolf and that is primarily to disrupt the young people walking with weapons through the train station and and and so therefore what my thing was a community observe was to what to see how the police conducted themselves and also to step in when hostility a rose where people may be thinking the hard done by pay stop to search or people who are watching may feel irate to see some of the police officers around young people and so if it's found one. Payment style knife operation over the week it must've taken off at least free for these nice of us off of the real world people walking for but the fact is a matter is is that stop a search along is not going to get to the to the to the issue of resolve the issue primarily as far as what seems to be happening primarily is after there's been a stabbing or face to face or Kilian they put what they call the 6 in 60 in place 6 and 16 means that they can stop and search anyone within the specific is. Usually there with a crime scene. Suspicion. Suspicion having a suspicion but the trouble is it's common sense would tell me if. The perpetrator of crime would do that to be. Away from that crime area so the people other people who witnessed this I would just to the to the killing also friends and family of the victim who remains there but yeah the police would stop and disrupt these young disrupt the people standing there yeah yeah I can I have to stop you there but thank you very much and if your contribution is always not just to the program but also to the community. Can Hines there the hiring a stop and search monitoring group and we will be straight back with you after the travel. Travel I'm Phil Dave on the roads the m $25.00 clockwise there are 2 lanes closed involving 2 lorries a junction one b. Record Shop and you see use it but wishing for me was around the city of London this is longer. B.b.c. Radio one. By the police this morning about ghost insurance brokers if you've just joined us good morning to you welcome to the program lovely to have you company let me just fill you in about what we would tell by the piece on the say this morning it was a warning beware these fake car insurance salesman they say that the things to look out for most particularly are a really really cheap quote also of most peculiarly unusual way of kind of making themselves known to you not the normal adverts different kind of way of approaching If it's too cheap if they seem a bit weird even if they don't you can check there is a way of checking whether you are insured or not but be aware because more and more people finding they think they're insured they've paid the money when it comes to it either they're not insured or tall or they way feel inadequate insured because these scammers have given the wrong details they pretended you didn't live in London they pretended you're older than your relays that kind of thing you make a claim and they throw it out laughing because you're not properly insured now we've got a call from Francis in south east London I think warning us of a different kind of scamming Hello hello thanks for calling prescience it. Was just one last bit of that this is about how the. Survey spam Yes our butts. Young lodgers who are buying 1st time buyers buying a house and a flat and they went online and ordered a house was homebuyers report for paid $350.00 pounds for it yeah and. For Christmas and they and the guy went and showed and they were Rix they would had to boil institute a Chartered Surveyors documentation and everything online and they took in a cut the surveyor then took in the card and showed it to the state agent to pick up the case anyway basically they were never able to get in touch with him again and find out they got some spirits sort of survey. In the post which obviously was just taken from the details of the that were on line about the flat spin they wanted they needed to talk to the surveyor about the valuation for the mortgage company and they found they couldn't get in touch with him too and in the end then last week another 350 pounds was taken from their bank account so at that point they looked it up and for the ricks and then went to the police and he was just it was just somebody using the proper surveyors details in order to scam people out of $350.00 pounds so it does seem that also then he got the keys to the flat where luckily in this situation the seller of the flat was at home with her children is he did go in the flat and then to do a survey between obviously didn't steal anything but now the estate agents have changed the case they've changed the locks because obviously he could be getting keys to flats. Going getting them copied go and both of them of course because that's not something that I've heard of before that's that's a complex scammer. An easement where you actually have to go and show up at the property and pretend to conduct the survey and everything else but you're not really qualified to do so and it's all absolutely worthless and then you take another 350 quid because you've got the account details Wow Wow I only found the bank did refund that 2nd 350 pounds because there was some they shouldn't I don't know really I don't know the details but they got $350.00 pounds but they still lost the initial $350.00 pounds and they still actually had to go ahead with buying the flat without the proper Is there anything you can warn anybody of any sort of details to look out for anything in retrospect they should have realised or thought was suspicious about this character. I don't know whether to I just think always and I think before booking anything to do it well I don't know whether it would help phoning unafraid because it wasn't me myself I don't know as a single detail No but I really placing you alerting us to it thank you very much indeed Francis really kind of you to do it if anybody else is aware of ghost anythings I don't mean there's goolies in cases that go bump in the night but I mean ghost insurance salesman you think you're doing the right thing you think you're being completely bonafide a you think you're paying for your insurance as you're supposed to do and actually it turns out that this was against insurance scam or you didn't get any insurance at all you did but it was woefully inadequate thought it was when it came to making a claim do let us know 020-072-2400 extension 00 if you come up against this ghost said they are who turns out to be just a thief essentially nothing else taking money from your account and continuing to do so pretending to do this survey not really doing it not providing any sort of. Surety against any coming being wrong of the property but actually turning up at the property in person taking the keys and all of that stuff then do give us a cool if you've been scammed anything you could help people by letting them know please do 2 or 7 to 2 for 2000 and let's have the weather which is jolly cold with Kate can she tell us all. Oh is necessarily going right yeah hold out there this morning temperatures still around 0 widespread frost before long dead at least we've got blue sky right absolutely beautiful out there if you don't mind the cold we've got want to see snow showers not really within the m 25 feet heading further east the Thames estuary out towards Essex parts and old in Canada people some snow flurries or snow showers actually falling through that other Met Office has a yellow weather warning in place for this morning snow and ice and we could see want to snow showers blow a little bit further inland so you may get want to see flurries through the day but at the moment we're clear run the risk of some icy stretches where ice the road surface is very cold so just watch out for that there's a northeasterly wind which will help the showers move through that's pretty cold that when the temperatures today starting to get out to 3 or 4 sound really horrible in the end on top of that it's probably not going to feel that warm atoll Now if you do get the showers they going to die out so often is a more sunny spells still have that breeze and then overnight tonight clear so temperatures are dropping down to probably minus one minus 2. Colder than that out towards the suburbs and beyond we could be getting down to minus 3 so widespread frost tomorrow morning as the wind falls writes Now for tomorrow cold frosty still at the wind Fayez around to the north so it's a northerly wind for the start of cheese day pretty pretty brisk actually so it's going to feel cold dry with some sunshine it will be until later on in the Often we'll see the cloud thick and we've got this pot of snow which will move down the country by the time it gets kind of fizzles out but there's the potential for it awards tomorrow evening that it picks up again so we may get some snow formal persistence thankful towards tomorrow even big question mark depends if it fizzles out where actually peps up so we'll watch out for that tomorrow the potential for more evenings rush hour which is very helpful now a day into Wednesday again minus 2 minus 3 cold frosty if anything does fall from the sky that's likely to Frisco again slippery surfaces for Wednesday morning and then much the same I'm afraid is going to be cold few sunny spells maybe want to t. Shirts that appear to have. Really slow. Actually mile to move save from the south as we have through Wednesday and into Thursday so the temperature goes up to a balmy 6 ounce Yes. But then it gets cold again as we had to rethink the wait so there's a brief but if minutes have rest by. Hoed old week Ok willing combinations for all of the listeners please don't forget to put them on really really cold up there bringing you another story now this is story about working mothers part time working mothers in particular part time work is the missing out on pay rises in young mothers those most likely to be affected the report by the Institute for Fiscal Studies says that long periods spent in part time work led to virtually no wage progression no increases at all to lean how it is in London employment lawyer and has represented many clients in gender pay cases she says attitudes need to change employers to value flexible work and those who need to work plex about working. Some employers obviously still have this stereotypical view that unless you work full time 100 percent all throughout the week you somehow do not add value to the organization and therefore. Less pay less commission prospects less everything joining me on the program Robert Joyce associate director at the Institute for Fiscal Studies Good morning good morning will be listening will think Well look nobody really has had much of a pay increase over the last 10 years she is and if they have it's been one percent or less and barely perceptible and pretty much eclipsed by the sort of inflation that we have had so what's the big deal with this story well that's certainly true of course the cut across the whole of the population we've seen incredibly weak wage growth wage growth over the past 10 years or so although actually even within that it's worth noting that typically a given individual will still see their wages rise as they gain more experience even if wages in the countries a whole song growing so as you move from being a 25 to 32 age 35 you'll often still be. Climbing up the ladder within your employer even if economy even if across the population as a whole wages a stagnating and what we're showing in this particular piece which is focusing on the gender wage gap is the part time workers tend not to see that or they just don't seem to see any progression in wages as they gain more experience or to put out another way part time experience doesn't seem to command any value in the labor market now you might be surprised that it commands less value than full time experience but I think it is really quite surprising that it seems to command almost no value at all so it's a key challenge now is to understand why that is as part of any effort to try to narrow that gap and the way to treat men and women well is one part of the explanation that part time work is a kind of marginalized anyway that it's often that employers are not going to put some work at the center of a really important project partly because they're part time workers and they're seen you know not to be part of the real team even if actually they're still doing an enormous amount of the burden you know they do more work part time than they would have done if they did it full time pro rata they're still not perceived to be doing that so they may not be at the center of the key stuff yes there certainly could be or a part of this could be to do with the way that we organize work in a way that means that the part time workers lose out that mean there are a number of things that could be going on of course it could be that part time workers don't get the same level of training that full time workers get as well could be they're missing out on some of the you know informal interaction in the networking that helps other other workers to get promotions they could be a lot of things going on and we really need to understand the mechanisms here in order to know how to address it and so what are you doing you're basically putting out a red alert here saying you know if you're a part time work do not consign them to the outskirts of your of your company the you them for the contribution that they're making him credit them with it you know we're certainly for government I think the message here for those making policy minutes is worth noting this is a really big area moment the government's very very keen. Close a gender pay gap the opposition party makes similar noises about it there's legislation coming in so there's a message here which is highlighting if you want to do that then a big chunk of Baghdad that you need to be thinking about is rising because of a lack of wage progression in part time work said I mean to put a number on that if you take the gap in wages per hour between men and women once the 1st born child is grown up so once they're age 20 that gap about 30 percent now about a quarter of that was already there when the 1st child was born actually but of the rest almost a half of the rest that opens up after the 1st child is born is explained by the higher law you heard of the mothers to have been in part time work while the child was growing up and the lack of wage progression that they got during those periods so it really is quite a significant part of the overall gap Well thank you very much for letting us do it that's Robert Joyce associate director at the Institute for Fiscal Studies if that's you you've worked part time and you never seem to earn any more money and you never seem to progress in your career because you seem to be kind of out Lord you're out there on the edges the peripheral part time person rather than the real person you know you're doing the lion share of the work and you've got more more experience to what you do you please do feel free to give us a cool 0207 to see food 2009 will be straight back with you after the news headlines. Somebody said the punishments don't work so I think we need to have a discussion about other forms of punishment I care some form of public humiliation of people who carry a nice public humiliation what kind of humiliation do you have in mind. We should dress them up in something. Over also and make them pick up litter and all the places for the hang out with their mates I mean the idea of pink overalls I mean are you saying I had a gentleman known from the pink paper dot com didn't really respond to being jumped he wouldn't find that humiliating you find that fabulous fashion you were taking a you can take whatever color stripes or dog that you want of the point is that when they're in prison they basically get a training in for their crime so it's a better to make them work hard in a visible spot doing something that is not seem to be there a glorious by society in general but that is very useful. I mean it's been suggested before kind of change gang mentality people we know we hear about orange jumpsuits don't we and then other ways if humiliating them it's not really a conventional way of British way of dealing with crime is it but but but thank you for the suggestion Stephen King's and who'd like to see the humiliation publicly of those people caught carrying a knife and those involved in knife crime maybe think he's right here to 70 to 40000 but you know the story this morning it's an undercover investigation by b.b.c. London which has exposed root beauticians undertaking illegal teeth whitening treatments these are treatments which can lead patients in crippling pain if they go wrong any dentists and professionals like hygiene this can legally perform the treatment on customers so let's talk to the investigative reporter guy Len who joins me Alec I'm one even I think tooth whitening a very popular cosmetic treatment and well what's the legal situation on this we have to thwart me. Incredibly popular especially the elusive Hollywood smile. What we're talking about here then in our investigation our own qualified people so specifically beauticians and they're legally performing the treatments on customs the general dental counsellors really care about this and that is that anyone who's not trained as a dentist or any other kind of dental professional such as a hygiene ist is breaking the law and that's because teeth whitening is a medical procedure and there have been numerous incidents of it going wrong and actually doesn't matter what the product is that is used so that's the position of the general Dental Council but what we found this makes it even more worrying is some beauticians were also using super high levels of the bleaching agent and illegal levels of the black bleaching agent hydrogen peroxide which can burn so have a listen to Richard grieve certain he was treated by a beautician who used very hazardous levels of hydrogen peroxide many times the strength allowed even by dentist in what was to him a horrible botched treatment. Very be described as a really really short excruciating pain and it went on for a good 45 minutes and a few days later became very raw and very sensitive very sincere like open so was I would be sort of a normal conversation and I would have to stop the conversation because the pain after about 6 months I started to realize that the sensitivity wasn't going to go away and I would just assume I'm going to have very sensitive teeth for the rest of my clothes that was rich agree cement talking about the effects of being treated by one qualified person having his teeth whitening but there is a plethora of products guy on the high street bailable that talk about teeth whitening on they from toothpaste to mouthwash to paste all sorts of different stuff absolutely and yeah you can see as you say you get loads of them the thing is about the products you can buy on the high street or all line is in those the maximum ounce of whitening bleach under the law is $100.00 peroxide in those products is no point one percent so that's 100th of a percentage is what you're allowed to get on the high street now if you go to the dentist the maximum the dentist can apply is a lot more powerful so it's 6 percent and then the dentist must give you a dental checkup and ensure you've got a prescription because as we saw with Richard if used incorrectly it can cause nerve damage teeth loss burns and blisters and hire them that is illegal so it was pretty shocking then to come across one from low from West Ham who's a beautician who offered to watch an all research is teeth are the strength of 25 percent hydrogen peroxide Now that's 4 times the legal strength the dentist allowed to use and if you actually do the math it several 1000 times stronger than what you and I can buy in the shops so if that's not bad enough she's also set up a mock dental surgery in her bedroom where she scrapes customer's teeth before performing the procedure so have a listen Vanessa to our secret recording it's pretty clear that she knows it's not allowed. Of course are. The folks. That I'm touched not expecting and you know putting your balls are no one is going to you know you know if I was to well you know of. The Daily Beast If that's what you pay for a $100.00 pence kind of potato you didn't get I was the judge. Cos when she charges $75.00 pounds of question it was last summer she charges dentis usually the realm of a few 100 pounds for a whole set of treatments goodness and and we see the only as equally could be to say not then I mean everyone had the phrase before. You phrase your vote today but no she wasn't actually you know we had plenty of others who were doing illegal teeth whitening although the ones that we seek are recorded the other ones are recorded appear to have lower strength products but as I said before doesn't actually matter you're not allowed to perform this procedure on customers if you're not a dentist or or a registered professional Now it was interesting though because some of them the other ones that we recorded seem to think that you can get around the law by doing what they do what they do what they're doing is they were basically doing everything they're putting the gel in the in the Garm getting up to the moment of putting the paste inside the customer's mouth and at that moment they were handing over the gold to the customer and saying Do it yourself. And I make seem to think that this was a way of getting around the law and the g.c. And the general counsel said that is total nonsense it's still illegal and we showed off footage them to to dead to spend the dentist binoculars isn't just any old dentist he's actually he's done all he's actually to clear up the mess on some of these botched procedures. And he says that what Fran lobe is doing is the worst he's come across as putting a patient's life at risk during dental procedures not in a dental surgery I think the other side when things have gone wrong and patients come into my surgery and I've got to deal with it I've seen patients go abroad and had their teeth butchered but in my own country having it here and seeing this is beyond me it's astounding It shouldn't happen. And what does that lady Fran low the road beautician that you spoke about what does she have to say about it so we approached her off to it and she then denied buying storing or using peroxide gels on customers she claims that she said she did to get a sale she later said that she wasn't aware of what she was doing was illegal and now she says that she stopped doing teeth whitening altogether I should add though that she also sold a syringe with whitening jelly in to use and we had that analyzed and looked at and we were told that breaks down to Hopper to illegal levels of hydrogen peroxide way stronger than what a dentist can provide would be handing out over to the authorities should our very . Own all research or receive the full dental check up after all filming and there was no damage the general Dental Council says illegal reports are rising so plenty of others then ignoring warnings basically play roulette with patient safety thank you very much for warning us about this you can see more on this story on b.b.c. London News 630 and also on inside out London on b.b.c. One tonight at 7 30 pm Now time for the travel. And with the latest I'm Phil Dave on the roads the m 25 clockwise there are 2 lanes closed due to a collision involving 2 lorries at junction one before dark for congestion is halfway back to junction 29 for Romford extra chapel time is around an hour and 15 minutes anticlockwise there's been an instant before junction turn of the m 3 with congestion to junction 15 for the m 4 lanes have now reopened traffic due to an earlier overhyped lorry at black or tunnel northbound congestion to the will it try to fly over all lanes have reopened their 1st water mains that means that gold operating King Street remain closed in both directions and traffic and the road is close on Fenchurch Street in both directions due to an incident between Grace Church Street and. Public transport now days are 10 minutes. Long and bridge signaling problems solve and also have to raise up to 15 minutes on northbound services at Hayward Heath due to a broken down train and that's also affecting the Gatwick Express Thameslink as well delays about 10 minutes and some cancellations between livable St and Sheffield and that's just a late finish of engineering works at Liverpool Street thanks to Clare who tweeted to say that she's currently stuck on a stance to express quote somewhere in Hartford share a signal failure in turn stance express have tweeted to say the Network Rail are looking into the problem to fill reports there is no service on long and over junction and Richmond due to a power failure at Acton central and hope and station exit only on the central Piccadilly lines due to a faulty escalator and this just in it would appear as if the traffic around the tunnel is returning to normal now Phil Dave b.b.c. Radio London travel next stop that just before 9. 100 years ago British women were finally given the right to vote time for talking was over and it was time to do something and make it happen the suffragette movement of the early 20th century emerged from being a peaceful campaign to one of civil disobedience or she did the shop window in all the big. This Tuesday take with me Joe good and historian Diana can send along the London streets where these heroic and at times shocking events took place just what most people should know about it because it's just a lovely tribute to those wonderful women the suffragettes and votes for women been really looking for himself a special program with me this Tuesday afternoon from one of the radio. And on the subject of knife crime Reuben on the line in Stratford Rubin honestly 5012 people fatally stabbed and it's only February 5th Good morning good morning Vanessa one thing is Guernsey. We're going to get for the next 2 year knife crime and bricks it definitely I like Why do you say that we have come just to get the break that by the time a bit but why do you say knife crime is going to be sort of up and coming an ongoing story for this year why do you think that's the case I'll tell you why Yeah now you've got people in high positions trying to to deal with Marsh crime in terms of the mayor now you've got the all these organizations now the only one that talks sense was Mr Hines you spoke to earlier yes now Sean by the we haven't got the mayor is really just a conservative known or as far as I'm concerned 1st thing to not stop and search has to happen all these other things can be put into place afterwards the issue on bail right when he said instead of thinking on the drugs focus on the knives Is he right to vote. Yes or no because the day that both go hand in hand when I saw. Like to pull out solo. You know sign. Scrub the rap basically you know if you want to you want to be a poet you put it in the book and you know when we still have a poet a record Benjamin nothing has been to Benjamin's and I. Actually done a lot of black youngsters because he was awarded an m.b.e. For poetry and he brings me to listen you can still actually accept that now that's what we need our youngest because it'll never happen on a member of the u.s. Empire and he felt the time that this wasn't appropriate for him to set you know really needs to think he needs to think about the service is provided and what actually has been put on this to do and part of it is there really stop when you know your destiny is to actually do something but he hasn't got it right the reality no but then. You know you can. You know he's not about what I'm not already nesting who's been awarded the m.b.e. Well we are thrilled for him I think. And read most of Benjamin issues of what it's not to like Benjamin you can do just because a youngster needs it I need to understand this comes from America disrupting you know he's a rock star that you've done your job you've made your money you've messed up our youngsters heads now it's time to go back to the love approach and when you say that go back to the love approach what do you mean it means the music you know music is about music it's about poetry love emotion now about. Drugs and scantily clad we've been you know it's about companionship you know we need to get back to that and the Southern Miss and well I mean I suppose you don't get to dictate that to anyone do you think it to to say I prefer a song to be about this and it should only be about that in poetry shouldn't capsulated love not hate and I mean you can't and also you can't dictate what is appealing what is attractive and is going to enter a huge attraction to its value Shakespeare's plays are full of violence absolutely full of murder in stabbing killing I know one of that you can't I mean the less you watch one of the comedies you'd you know you'd be absolutely blood running down the stage and that Shakespeare that every every generation has been attracted to violence look at the films and everything else on t.v. Even if you completely ignore rap they're still this huge move towards it isn't that. Your always right and I'm not always right but I think I'm I think that is there is one man isn't that. You're in a point and. All these people want to about these rock stars and you know all of my money and put something back into society change it or you've made you money let's get back to real people and real living and real life and we were out yes but I agree with you I'm on the funding. I'm I find anything with violence on it completely unattractive I just can't bear it never have liked it but I know there's an enormous pull towards evening call to Tom and Jerry you know smashing the living out of each other but in in comic book heroes in the old the superheroes it's a it's obviously a very rich vein in human nature isn't it that the detractors to that kind of behavior we've been always a delight in exhibiting all that love from Stratford he's a very lovely listener Indeed I'm always pleased to hear from him as I am on my list is of course let's go to a different story one minute we've got Greg McKenzie in Oxford Street the next minute he's covering a different story altogether Today's and his money after being told that they were too old to skate a group of London pensioners decided they were going to take that back they started a Facebook group together people of or similar age together to make friends and show people that they can skate board and now the group is $900.00 strong and it's becoming something of an Internet sensation said Greg McKenzie in Hyde Park this morning with some of us senior skateboarders Hello Greg. Good morning again Vanessa On a lighter story this morning now I am in Hyde Park beautiful morning I can see swans I can see the ducks and I can see very old skate board heard the saying never to oh now with me now is there Elizabeth who is 66 and she doesn't mind me saying that you've got Sabina who is there 56 and you've got key figures 54 now they're all a part of a group called the very old skateboard is now going to go to you 1st Elizabeth she has on the helmet Vanessa a walking stick and a skateboard I mean it's not quite a walking stick it is but can you explain what that sticks for and if it's a lime pie dough and. Me to push along because I've got right to see my foot so actually helps me to roll and roll and you will one of the 1st people kind of in the group to start the group you came to the park one day and maybe we're getting teased by the teenagers and kids saying you shouldn't be in it well before that if we going to already jeans It always started in 2013 there's a lady in Finland coding a Sam so me who is about my age we went to the camp together and we got talking and we realised that we would consider it to pay rather rare We also got talking and we thought that we'd had some comments directed at us that we were too old to skate Now this was name is idea to start just group but she asked me to set it up because I'm an English speaker and that's the beginnings of the group as amazing Elizabeth and let's bring you in Sabina you're part of the group now I mean it was sort of looks and stares you get when he tight a skateboard I mean yeah you know if you want to do anything now you're not too old and I mean I found people normally just really small. And if you give me the thumbs up and so on so it's always have never had a drug tree comment I came here to Hyde Park 1st time I ever skated with other people and Elizabeth was the 1st person I met I was skating here feeling a little bit out because everyone was young they were all lovely but they were quite young and then skating towards me was Elizabeth and this is before you know it she could skate with her foot before her arthritis kicked in but there was this beautiful smiley face coming towards me and I was so pleased to find somebody of a similar age and and so we've been we think right now $87.00 since and what I love about the whole skating thing is the the adrenalin rush even you know you kind of settle down mid-life you have your family and all that sort of thing and you kind of settle down and then there's you can if it get about the joy of things you should do as a young person or as a kid and just doing it again and just released all those beautiful feelings of you know the adrenaline the exhilaration even the risk taking it was just fantastic to be in and just lastly the case I mean would you make it's kind of safety if you worried you might kind of break a limb or break. You so you can get hurt but it's not as dangerous as a lot of people think. Of last year but it's something that happens rarely but it's just so much fun when you can't not do it. Thank you well Vanessa there's a Facebook gallery of groups exhibition opened this week from state to Sunday so you get to see the skaters and all the photographs that have been taken has been documented over the last few years taking place at coin street galleries and that's on the South Bank 7 s. So I'm about to jump on a skateboard with a helmet and I'm going to see in the mall.
