Me from how can you describe it just a black uniform with a white stripe going down the middle and this thing that you're holding and you have this later I'm going to go in your head it's a shake Oh and we have a plume coming over also is Justin Lou He's from Los Alamitos high school California yes California So tell us about your bands and what can we expect today so our band of well known with the California we're always trying to form our best we're expecting to do just as well as we always do we've been practicing for over really expecting to do something good today if you say how many of you are there more of the different roles we have about 80 performers with us today there's various different instruments we have good ones brass percussion color guard and what age groups that we go these are high scores are going to be around 13 to 18 years old Ok so they going to be forming from all the way through to 30330 nonstop Yeah we're going to have 12 and then we're going to have a finale with all the other bands around 3 so this competition pretty tough to get to go on this trip I imagine it's coming across the Atlantic Ocean you know pretty much as something to celebrate Yeah it's a really good thing that we've been able to come here I'm really happy that we're chosen to come to London to do this very really looking forward to it lovely all the best good talking to you Happy New Year Thank you Justin Ok happy new year just in going off his band they're all marching off now they going around the corner I think we're going to do a little rehearsal in a minute tree so the other not so people that now I can hear lots of voices. This do you know 10 minutes or so thank you very much indeed very fun time we returned he later on in the program to get more voices and more people here who are going to be there to entertain you so if you're heading down to the New Year's Day parade today why no. Well thousands hundreds thousands of people out in the West End last night of course watching the midnight fireworks show from the banks of the River Thames or empowers clubs and restaurants across London Big Ben shined to welcome 2018 after having being turned back on part way through restoration work it couldn't be the same without without that could it but in the hours between the nighttime festivities and today's New Year's Day Parade Westminster City Council's waist service team is out and about making sure a city looks sparkling in amazing for the millions watching all over the world not a job that I'd want to do but John I stepped his way services manager for Westminster and joins me now good morning good morning happy happy New Year to you too how was the mess after last night when every every year we sort of cluster around 85 tons of liquid it's been discarded after New Year's Eve And this year was no different we had run 120 people out sweeping and picking up litter. About 50 vehicles 15 the carts or so it's a substantial operation to clear a lot of waste in a very short time to make sure that the roads are open in time for the New Year's Day parades but I mean why is there so much that what is wrong with people is it because there aren't enough bins around what is the what is the reason there's so much rubbish precisely we can't have been doing special events due to security risks so that there's no option for people to sort of you know leave the litter where it isn't you know yeah it can be a bit messy but you know people are celebrating. They are having a party and you know usually after a party there's a lot of ways to clear away so it's just a little fortunate fact of life I'm afraid so it's just the fact that we can have the bins for security reasons and therefore is always you know most forgivable just released from the street and I would feel weird to me it's not a really forgivable you can still sort of you know back up you're wasted there's no need to sort of throw loose bits of litter on to the street but you can sort of you know back it up in a carrier bag or you know there are some that Ivins imparted a Western still out on the main sort of event area there won't be any little bit so it is it is possible to dispose of your litter responsibly if you choose to do so have you found out of your teens ever found anything weird and wonderful. Sometimes you find costumes or bit of clothing 'd or wigs or crutches or we'll find a whole sort of are a arrangement of random items of course is what this year we've got sort of around $15000.00 champagne bottles which we've cleared up. How many bottles of a grape so a $15000.00 wow wow I mean do what about but if you knew teens when do you celebrate new year what do you do you just have to work it that's just one of those things is one of the unfortunate things but but then again you know we are in the heart of New Year's Eve celebration so it's not it's not so much of an issue and you know Rick just really grateful that all these people work with us making sure the city is clean again in time for the New Year's Day parade and it's all done now is all made up it was done at about 430 now morning wow record time again but I mean it was raining last night wasn't quite unknown did it did feel or people turn out mean I know that more tickets were sold than them people went to watch the fireworks display but were you aware of any sort of being fewer people out itself like there were less people out than Then last year. I haven't seen the official numbers yet but it did appear to be less busy but yeah rain and sort of the car. Old Weather Yes Yeah it felt like people were just going. No going to head out in that. I know I speak for all of London saying thank you very much indeed for clearing up the mess that people leave behind John I set his manager for West Minster listening to b.b.c. Radio London and it's Petrie with you until 10 b.b.c. Radio question what's got 500000 spectators excels in performances for us this year another iconic Eddie the Eagle Edwards involves 20 of the London bombers he's televised around the world and it takes place in a city concert. Day Parade. From Piccadilly to Parliament Square when. The guesswork gets free and for the 1st catch. B.b.c. Radio the so much from New Year's Day Parade from me January 15th. So they got a New Year's Day Parade from 1 o'clock on the lovely tidy London streets if you fancy going out we'll find out what the weather's going to be like for you in just a few moments time as well from George initially had to tell us if it's going to be I think it's going to be valid if you draw it today it was disgusting yesterday wasn't the weather was foul So what did you end up doing in your New Year's Eve you somebody that goes out and enjoys it and parties on where you want to revelers in town if you were you probably still asleep on each piece there but if you were somebody like me who just plain don't like going out a new year always plan to what you used the perfect excuse. To do you do anything one needs and you think is a bit overrated gives a go at like to apply to him from you on this one I want to learn and I want to feel like I'm the anyone that hates and yet. 72 for 2. A 1000 is the number that you need at this speed to Dave and David in Legion is called in this one of the many David good morning plays I have a suggestion as why so few number did fail to turn up this break was because you know I'm ashamed of this because I worked for them with before I retired the total lack of passenger transport with major engineering work going on all the roads that's a good point example like couldn't you see the Liverpool Street Shenfield line was closed so all the outer suburbs from well all the way up there right the way up nearly to Brentwood and then of course you've got the South Western Railway with a problem and Paddington had a major problem with engineering works use them so you know when you're the boss of the national rail system says people don't want to travel at Christmas or New Year you see why I say that I mean I would have thought it would be the biggest time to travel it is the busiest times of travel because you want to go and see family either you want to go see friends yeah I mean there's another example the district has been closed nothing has run beyond South Kensington. Nothing to Richmond nothing to Wimbledon nothing doing Broadway. So not may be that may be something that has brought the numbers down to the center Yeah because it's expensive otherwise to get in isn't if you if you can go on and on a train you can get around. The almost but ever to Vegas days I mean where I live the Thameslink trains only run as far as sometimes as international and then terminated they didn't go through London. So if you've been sort of locked up Absolutely you didn't get around you. But one thing on this I would so I don't put myself at risk you know that would be in the crowd here put other. Than ever anybody was available to help me as a helper I wouldn't put them at risk that's 1st and foremost but you like me anyway I would Oh no yes but. I'm afraid we're facing a number of very serious challenges in the new year and we are yeah except people seem to be quite confident and happy about it but we are we significantly with the hope. Going on as well that we have a major problem in bed with Joe Harper just and West Essex with the hospital patient comes vote really oh yes a real major problem. Is we've got to be confident that we hopeful we yes we're going to have hope. And we all are hoping to be dashed all the time. Problems created by. Well we'll find out what they've got in store for us later on it's lovely to cheat David have a very happy and successful 28 teams want to join in the conversation really need to do is pick up the phone and dial 224-2000 tell me what it is you've been up it's quite a good point though is that they may perhaps that was one of the numbers with them not just the weather but also transport around London did you celebrate New Year's and you can text as well one trip with restart the word London comes free to me in the studio now if you want heading down to the Nice Day parade you need to know what's happening with the weather and Georgina Vanna is here to tell us what's going to happen or no messenger there was no but it's now about quite a breeze a day today there is a spell of rain but it looks like it will clear in the early afternoon so hopefully only affect the start of the parades. And then it's dry and brighter but that's probably the good news a few blustery showers around later on though City Watch out for those temps is getting up to about 9 degrees Celsius the winds ease tonights and then we're likely to have some folk patches and a bit of patchy frost maybe in some spots temperatures down to about 2 degrees and then there's some rain in the mid to late morning some more the winds probably going to pick up around that as well fairly heavy at times but dry and bright it to end the day again with highs of 11 degrees Celsius to take apart exact exact Although he's going to be fairly sure is well so I would say Get good to make sure guys who didn't get all special anorak you one of those plastic knowing it's a cover of your hat and I think not the day to worry about what you look like there are definitely are a scene of thank you very much indeed so that your weather across the capital here doesn't stop you from heading down for the New Year's Day parade we're going to be returning there in a little while as well to find out from Valley Funtime what's going on in the preparations bot. 2017 Of course I guess that London will never forget with that general election the terror attacks and of course the tragedy of the Grenfell tower far this year is going to be another busy one politically as all of London's Barak ounces are up for election which bars may change hands in night you'll find out 1st here on b.b.c. Radio London will Professor Tony Travers is from the London School of Economics and joins me now Professor good morning and Happy New Year Well good morning and I've been great. This is do you think the council elections will be big news for for us here in on then. I think will be big news not only in London I think the fact is that these are all out elections also to Barasat everywhere except the city of London will be voting and all councillors will be up for election and I think it will be big news because it will be seen as a test of the government's popularity to resume where Howard frees amazed me in relation to practice but certainly about that and also how well Jeremy called in a labor of doing and also some story whether momentum is going to do well out of these elections and then a question for the Liberal Democrats and smaller parties as to how well they can do to create. Yeah that would be a real test for Vince Cable and to to see if he's making any any purchase that they deliver definitely gay put him into that position that he was the best known lip then absolutely Tim Farron previously had sought out well in terms of driving the party's Yes nobody knew me well there are never any he was it I never heard of him and he had some difficulties remember during the general election. About some of his personal views of the way they conflicted with liberal Democrats policy. Vince Cable now faces this very big challenge which is how to show the party is beginning to grow again to get a big event at the polls has not been great recently and there are some parts of one click the south west London Ric's which will in Kingston where the Lib Dems must be having to do far better than they have done in the recent past and will be talking to Vince a little bit later on actually so we'll ask him about that. Do you see this being there being much of a change in the council's we're not talking about n.p.c. We're not talking about local M.P.'s that we are talking about the councils but that will be a political reflection you think. Well I think it will it will people vote in local elections of course they vote on local issues as well as national ones well I've made a mistake myself early on the treating the local elections as if they were a glorified opinion poll and they're not and there are good reasons for thinking discounts will do well on the streets clean the social services working well all of the things that people judge councils by but in the end you can't get away from the fact that the national position of the parties affects a local vote and with that in mind the other thing cause you have to be aware of is where they were where the parties were last time and back in 2014 when the elect the London bar elections last took place. Labor did really very well they won 20 or in some counts 21 powers and the conservatives 9 now there's against that backdrop that the positions of the parties now will affect the results but there are some marginal borrowers. Were saying on elections in cities outside London and some unitary authority says well they went. Online the but London will be where I think most of the interest lies asked people generally they got those 50 is there a sense that they won't be a huge turnout on that. Well it's always. Say by that predicting turnout. I mean. It is a tricky one to predict isn't it I mean you're right we had a general election in 2015 and then the referendum or the general election in 2017 so there has been a lot of voting by and of course as the Merrill action of course as well in the 2 so you're right people have been out the vote a fair amount. London bar election turnout as an average. Generally around 35 percent sometimes they get towards 40 they have got those 40 percent on average so they don't massive at the best a ton so I don't think we're going to see turnout so far as we see in the recent the last Merril election which turned out to be curiously high or the general election in the referendum but I still think that there is not because the young man is that because these fights because it be very difficult to get young people you'd imagining gauged in council of faceted to be interested enough to to get rid of Tory councillors and get Labor councillors in did you imagine that would be the case with young people. Not I think across the whole of London Probably not but maybe one or 2 places where the Labor Party in particular has picked up. A larger number large numbers of new members in recent years where it might make a difference we know that in the general election Labor did very very well in London but the thing is that the kind of places that Labor's got lots of additional members are probably places like the holes anyway. You know typically a place like is going to and you know which is after all generally Corbin's as an m.p. Home bar so I take your point I think the idea that will be a surge of young voters in these elections is less plausible than in the general election last year let us. Let's have a look and see what London is I've got to look forward to this. Economically it's going to be interesting because it breaks it we still don't quite know what impact that is going to have on London's economy doing we don't and what we know is that in the period since June 26th and so far as a lot year and a half now in fact London like the rest of the country hasn't noticed any particular economic. Effect which is quite a long way from what those who were opposing it who wanted to remain in the said would happen they said the be an immediate economic impact and that hasn't Now whether the slow delayed economic impact this year will begin to reveal more and certainly growth across the country as a whole has slowed down some wants since June 26th saying this will be the year when we do begin to understand I think precise whether there's an impact I think the other thing is economists are beginning to think with the long period we can of sort of job growth in Britain and also in London may be going to slow down this is something that may well happen notwithstanding any impact that. We've got the crises we've got Crossrail have only starting up. It doesn't you know I well it open part also in part yeah it's going to open in sections it's not going to run all the way through from end to end so from Shenfield via central London out to reading is going on all right so all parts of it will have a cross rail service it's just that for example I understand that the section from Sheffield into Liverpool Street will stop there and then you'll as it does now run by you'll have to get off and then the section through central London will Ron and then there will be a section from Paddington out to Redding so. Maybe some service is going south west London through Central London as well so that pattern hasn't been finally finally determined yet what it won't be a full service but it will be the final stages of preparing for the house and we will see trains running across the island 262018 so that is a big change and something to look forward to I think yeah I mean definitely to like you said once it's actually up or money hopefully to make a massive difference and Tony good to talk to you thank you very much indeed Professor Tony Travers that from the London School of Economics and just to let you know we will be talking to the Capel the Lib Dems leader of course at $845.00 in about 15 minutes right here on b.b.c. No there are not but you might do better to Jumanji Welcome to the jungle No Are you kidding me that going really well I thoroughly enjoyed it really I mean it is that people remember the Robin Williams test in the movie but it's still got a group of teenagers. Sent to detention they look at the time that they've Ubangi boardgame and they get sucked into the jungle with better hope variety of avatars they say nothing like becoming for example Dwayne Johnson even I could become the disposer brain his Catholic religion Manzi with with Robyn Williams I must admit I did like I did like the film Perfect amiable cheerful movie it's a load of nonsense of course but Alex level but I mean there's nothing wrong with no loads of nonsense and I'm Ok bored with film snobs say oh you must go and watch this is terribly where the I don't want to go and have somebody preaching at me for 2 and a half hours I want them a bit of fun and I want bit of excitement only suddenly find it here because they go up to 10 to do the Jag us I and. Make sure that Jumanji and the forces of evil the planet returns to a certain amount of no malady yet much amenity a good pal of the case the scatological but it's all rather funny and rather ridiculous and I was entertained that I have to say train jumps the law ways delivers it doesn't deliver a lot of fun and there's only to see what's on the on the television coming up in the new year and it's the usual Duffy stuff when I mean for example we've got Mike Murphy a serial because the film will be very interesting because it's got James Norton That begins tonight some b.b.c. One which I would recommend because of the hype I regard the movie as Dobbs locals of b.b.c. 2 is so. I suspect that i.t.v. I have frankly thought of to extremely disappointing Bob movie but if you haven't seen it it is I suppose see and Pitch Perfect 2 which is about a capella group and I thought it was marvelous and all of what would be Christmas with. All of it I. Know this is the famous musical of course Ok Ron Moody Oh well like I get when you can't go you can't go wrong with with a bit of meat in a can you really there's a new western out West and I have to say which is my least favorite genre I cannot bear a lesson I've never been anywhere I don't just come it's just not for me I don't I can't stand the big you're looking forward to to a new western called hostile Yes I have a child to sing it had but most certainly. It sounds as though it was festive period and if it be rather good and as you say they're not that number of these days but equally I've always had a weakness for really good gloves or the High Noon type show right and also when I'm done the seats haven't had the chance yet to see a preview of this is only just opened in the States but all the money in the world of tragedy when the example catches some was. Kidnapped it's cost us become quite a cause celeb because Kevin Spacey in pay was removed trust of a plumber was substituted directed by Ridley Scott and it was turned around and something on the rim of incredible and plumber apparently is outstanding in it so we understand got a Globe nomination all the money in the world why suddenly would pay quite a lot of money to be able to see this movie as I say it's only literally just out in the States and it's all on the fast with house stuff so there's a 2 movies to catch in the new year and that's the look forward of course levels of government labs. Next Sunday I should be absolutely riveting because best film drama should go to talk which I mean I thought Well absolutely marvelous the best. Comedy or musical probably played it which is not absolutes delightful for Greg to digress a go we go who I have a crush. Slightly PI's that I'm glad to see as well that Gary Oldman who I think is one of Britain's finest actors I really genuine need to. Heed that he's starting to rise as well isn't he was starting to see more of him and you think that he's going to do Ok in the wood season I think that his chart shows absolutely superb This is generally the top that's released and it's a firm another one. Was May not actually foresee but change here inhabits Churchill he gives him a dear syncretic qualities that made him so dynamic and yet so impossible he gives the bulldog its roar its approval time yeah straight I just think everything that Gary Oldman does he sort of submissive actor isn't he totally inhabits the skinnies wearing and takes some very brave choices and I absolutely think he's a brilliant as I do you Richard Fitzwilliams thank you very much indeed for going through some of the film and t.v. Choices that we have coming up in the New Year Well listen let's find that was happening with the New Year parade again as we crossed life over to Valley a film type what are you up to now Valley Petry again just saw some fabulous rehearsals I'm standing here in Poland square and next to me at 17 green I've got the Act Colin Salmon and his wife Vicky is that right. So keep your eyes wife on yeah right so got that right. I'm sort. Of done again Ok so you dressed in green u.f.o. Still banns taking part in today's state festival tell us all about it yeah you know we've got a brand of Roger. 25 we're going out we were playing steel bands big year for you. And the our truck is decorated with the out of the children from the surrounding area of. Town which trying to do some of the schools just after the tragedy service experience poignant day to bring make sure these children and. Their hope is represented on the road in London so where would we can look forward to doing that here and you to meet the challenge with the weather. Really shocking yesterday when a sudden many hurricane arrived on Millbank as we were putting up the banners on it because it's a $45.00 foot truck and the this $400.00 drawings on the Banas So we really wanted those pandas to work but doing them in winter in London by the river was a challenge but we got them up just tell me about the artwork how you managed to get the current focus and still bound to come together to put this on Thursday well after Grunfeld happened Carnival was about to happen and everyone was thinking how does how does this work you know and the Carnival itself brings such a positive message of community that we ever everyone wanted it to happen so we worked with children in local schools directory directly affected by the tragedy and we got children to decorate the truck for Notting Hill Carnival so we talked about community children of the working kind of teachers had been working on the cull face of dealing with children's trauma and it was incredible to work this children and see that take on community on the positives on the hope on the joy on the diversity all those messages that we really need to see to this and say so that things like unfold don't happen again we can really learn from them lovely and so you're still banned it's not just today it's all year round how the small Oh yeah all year round we were asked twice a week if we were really working on the new trees or next year. Kind of the arbiter of interactive musical director response you've gotten seems to be coming back up on. Our radar but the some of you choose out there will be place even this week today so we bring it to the London New Year's Day parade that's lovely thank you very much indeed and calling Thank you and thank you happy New Year to you too thanks very much but Terry back over to you thank you very much volume will come back with only a little bit later on if she she gathers around more people to find out what's going on in preparation for the New Year's Day Parade Well we're looking back at $27000.00 company leave it's now 18 and ahead of course what's coming up in the next year one London his life changed last year just one was seventh's cable he returned to Parliament his m.p. For Twickenham in June and the following month took over as leader of the Liberal Democrats and a very Happy New Year to you since yes we're very happy so you know reflections of 2017 it was quite a comeback. They you and I and there you are now as leader of the Lib Dems Yes it was rather turbulent some unknown I just said since you have a new lifestyle I was teaching economics at l.s.e. Amongst other things and involved with some very interesting social enterprises doing lots of compressed the ballroom dancing and. Then I'd written a novel. And some back in problems and later political parties so I thought for just fairly quickly fairly quickly I used. To have done that I mean most people saying it could really have been you off to because you were the one that was most known to the population which is something Tim suffered from I don't I'm certain excited by these in some ways worrying signs but also dramatic times about the whole course of the country's future is the stake in the expected negotiations my party has an important role in the public debate I mean people know where we are. We're giving some leadership and I'm heading up a power save that has now over a 100000 members of its record levels there is in a sense and seems to have 7 positive thinking we've got a lot of work to do to boost our opinion poll writings of a little are up for it so you do you have a lot to do really to to become the 3rd party candidate I mean if you would do you have been damaged probably by the coalition more than you imagine that you would be as the Lib Dems and you've really got to start resonating with the voter that's true but I've found that in my own constituency in Turkey and I saw that happening in front of me that these things do turn around and I think people are looking for kind of moderation and common sense combined with in an idealistic approach to pursue those around social injustice and I think we can provide that I think a lot of people are very uncomfortable with the way that but your politics has become very polarized we've got you know extreme Breck sits on one side and fairly hard left socialism on the other and those things have supporters obviously but there's a lot of middle ground in between which we should be occupying and the London bar council elections across the coming out they see a. Are you going to be watching those carefully to see if you are resonating or do you see them as very separate from from general public to you know I think in my party has strong local government roots has for very many years we've got 2000 councillors around the country we've taken a bit of a knock in some areas the base is still strong and lively and there are barriers in London that we would hope to win back on my own Richmond is one of the next talking some is another we have a sitting Council in Sutton and it will be interesting to see how well we do in areas of. Labor Party's been indulging in a certain amount of internal strife where moderate people have been ousted by them and some the kind of thing that's been happening in Harringay Lewisham The elsewhere. You know clearly we know where you stand the Lib Dems that's the one thing that we do know with the if we if we're not sure about the Tories we're not sure about labor we know exactly where you stand on Bracks that and that is it you'd like to see us getting another referendum on any deal that it is going through even just another referendum is not going to get the traction that you won't do you think and it hasn't done so far it hasn't done so far because that's And I think the reason is because we're still early early stages in the process I think there was and I picked this up on the doorsteps in the election in June a lot of people who had voted to remain as indeed a large majority did in London basically took the view that well you know the government get on with it and let's see what happens give them the benefit of the doubt but I think as it's become clearer and clearer that we're not going to get a very very good outcome on British terms of the terms of this that the European Union which is you know you've got $27.00 countries that are pretty united in one disunited opponent we're going to finish up with a mess probably quite hard Bracks in which we're no longer in the single market of the customs union that could do fairly substantial damage I think a lot of people are waking up to that and when they do I think the public mood will be in the direction of saying well you know now we know what's happening we'd like to have a say on the destination and the polls are tending to suggest that a substantial majority is now emerging in favor of the public having a choice you know do you really want to go ahead with what the government's negotiated only wants an exit routes it is not like buying an insurance policy after your house is burnt down no I don't think so it's a 1000 yet been burned down. I see the point when people have voted for breakfast and then I grew not sure anymore. Democracy people have the right to change their minds and I think that but also I think they are different questions I think I do respect the results of the referendum we've had it wasn't a big majority but that was a majority in favor of launching the Brocks process which the governments have done but I think when you get to the destination and you have a clear view about what is going to happen next I think it's legitimate to take stock and say Is this really what we wanted it's a bit like a house purchase decision you can make a decision to move but then when you found some while there is a separate decision do you want to go live in it all the way to stay where you are and the whole house purchase process is based around those 2 separate decisions not as just briefly are you going to be doing mobile Rendon thing this the one thing we're getting or I've got a actually I've booked in for a lesson some are heard what I was doing and when I was in exile was doing competitions and I used to go off to Blackpool of a place is complete I wasn't Berlin but I was making progress but I'm keeping my lessons going and it's and I'd strongly recommend it actually it's very good mentally physically and that's why you know my hobby Well I listen I I long for the moment I can watch you bore him down Vince Cable service cable thank you very much indeed for joining us on b.b.c. Radio in London when he is also very busy time in the world of sport that's a catch up with a b.b.c. Radio and dispose editor Pete Stevens Good morning p. Good morning parents free and happy New Year Happy New Year to you is it going to be a happy new year in the world of sport. Most definitely it's going to be extremely busy with a lot of world events a missile events of the book all of the but the moment we've got the Winter Olympics which kicks off of February that since South Korea then you've got the Commonwealth Games out on the Gold Coast in Australia. The staple events that always go on in London at the f.a. Cup Final Wimbledon. And later on The Wonder are really fancy having a look at is the women's World Cup hockey which runs for a month between July and August what we're doing sport is starting to come through now isn't it you hear much more about at women's football women's rugby all of them and they seem to be getting more purchase now. Well the girl said Rio I think did a great job when they won the gold medal in the women's hockey but also this year of course and they won the team event at the Sports Personality of the year the women's cricket team ended up as world champions so the profile of women small and that's only good for sport believe me for as far as women's events has really grown from strength to strength this year does that reflect the fact that they are better sports people or is this about political correctness because it will not be got our will they just the b.b.c. Particularly put in a women's sport maybe really wants to watch it because it's women. Politically correct to a point yes sorry I agree with you but I think it's something that's happened over the years people have become aware of especially women that there are a lot more sports made stream sports that they can participate in worryingly for they it was inevitable and it starts at grassroots level in the sports what women's football women's cricket have been introduced to school level is now so that the the knock on effect is older women to keep going when they've left school and been go to university or college and now as I say up their ranking within the top sport in the world for that make that means that hockey would have to be fun and when I played hockey as a girl it was anything but fun it was very combative and quite dangerous. If I'd ever want to play hockey again because saying that women's hockey looks like it's going to be interesting. Yeah that's going to be a massive society running for a month between the beginning of 2 lawyers and all goes to the of course we've got the as I said the normal staple sports in London we'll be going to new event happening this year it's called the big heart and it's at the beginning of March events a half marathon as opposed to a major London Marathon and it's real it's running the other way from London from Tower Bridge to Greenwich instead of from Grange to Maui in the West End and already the event's going to be taking like something like 820000 people and then was unique about this is you can have a relay you can have several people in the event and you will take a section each to finish a great show that's going on yeah it's terrific event that with as a say the marathon there's a serpentine swim of course down for that. That they aren't it's right now and how it turned Yeah and then of course who got Ride London which last week announced that in the 5 years we've had it London has raised over 50000000 pounds of various charities now that sex place into to law and there be something like 25230000 people on a bus call round London for what it starts on the Friday afternoon with various events in the West End and that and carbonates on the Sunday with the 50 mile ride out to Box Hill from the West End rather with some of the world's greatest cyclists taking part so it's a major weekend for for cycling in the capital there's a lot going on isn't there and like you said I'll be there this Women's Day you will be as well. Might just be watching that I might conveniently lose my trunk. Don't do that. Thank you very much indeed for those sporting events coming up in London in 28 swimming the surfing tide who would do that Crikey you're listening to b.b.c.
