That's a sad. Thing. That leaves. Games. On. The. Sabbath. And the rain. And the sun. And the ring. To every word. I heard you were. Raindrops easier to play that's really good for a. Ok but I I think you will I know extraordinary. Right you are Scottish actor you know so guess what song I'm playing for you playing oh I'm sorry for you and. And and and and. When I wake up. And. I'm going to be. Alone with you. From next to. The. Most. A a. A. A a a. A. Illegible . Leave. Her. But it was all right I played your Scottish The Proclaimers isn't a crime yeah you don't mind it not oh now we just have to clear up something before the world goes into turmoil thinking that you and her some food for and out no we haven't told him how little he well know his the reason that we mentioned that we're not going to mention him you can mention him but I want but it's very way when I was doing my research on you Brian. At Well everything seemed to stop because obviously you were in a 4th awakens and you were back at politic ballot you just got back attacked and now it's about a tick as about a tick and every interview that there was the 1st thing everybody also due was converse about how simple so I'm not going to ask you we're just not going to talk about I can ask I don't want to know because you're more important than he is normal right now you are right now you know it's lovely to have you here because he calls you were a Star Wars you were in Dunkirk which we're going to talk about as well but more importantly your room you were in The Seagull Chekov Siegel but this is reimagined on the you're going to be on at the Lyric chemist with a new star in 2 days how exciting. But let's just talk to people who don't know the seagull it's a very very famous piece by Anton Chekhov but of course there be many people who don't know about it so can you give us sort of the original outline and why this is different you know it's. At its core it's a family drama it's. Examination of human behavior. The relationships between families and. You can get. And it's you know both things a tragedy and a comedy. It's a story but it's a massive piece yeah yeah and Simon Stevens has adopted that. Who's obviously just fantastic and you know he's kept a lot of the. You know the original scope of but also. Making it feel like it could exist in a sort of parallel 2017 if you like this must be an amazing thing to work on yeah absolutely. It's the 1st play of that in 2 years. But it's just been fantastic all of the cast is a magnificent Sean Holmes a director as well as just been yes been a joy to work on so you know amazing people in the cars Yeah absolutely you know. Every one of them you know Ok so for you doing this I mean we're everything all the research that I was doing on you apart from talk about her son for but everybody says Bright Young Thing on you talent this guy's the hottest thing is that was a rather strange heavy thing to carry around. I mean I don't necessarily think. But I don't know that the law is such a heavy label though isn't it suddenly you'll the new bright young thing and you suddenly got that written across your forehead wherever you go to I haven't because I know this is radio he has a work day and of course Tanya Edwards the stand up comedian you can actually about the t. Doesn't have it written across his head I can't there was labels anyway I think you know like it was like funny you know had you laughing together with us we would talk about some of those what the songs on which we went repeat but it must be it's like it's sort of a heavy burden because you having to fill that role a lot not necessarily I'm just. Trying to enjoy each thing that I'm working on in the moment I'm just enjoying. Just plain folks in on the good for you right let's now let's talk about Star Wars I mean that was quite something because of course now the 3 new ones have come out. When you got that call did you did you how did it was did they call you when did you go through addition Yeah yeah I went for the audition I just I just left drama college to see that's phenomenal you know you just leave college oh yeah star was jumping down the right yeah I was sort of kind of surreal but yeah and then just so what happened was that it yeah just auditioned for and. Yet up it's pretty secretive and stuff so you can't tell anyone about it when you were doing it and. Secretive about the audition know when you go when you got the part yeah that must you must have told somebody. And. That was a yeah so when you went off for days on end and people thought you were missing. What did you do oh no no no it was not concerned really did she tell everyone I mean if it was my watch you just tell it as you know use although it used to sing like contract Oh hello to you know oh oh what this is fun I didn't know that it's about Star Wars Ok so you left where did you film your bits here in the plane would Ok yeah so you disappear and you go out say by your friends see you in a few days did they not say where are you going. Not really I mean I was only on it for 2 weeks and I left in Glasgow at the time so I was just don't want to be pulling people in Glasgow don't ask you where you go oh they're just. Enormous bothered is it just Londoners who are very nosy Ok so if I was your friend I think I would have been one of those people that said where do you where did you go Ok so you were down here for 2 weeks because honestly I think me and boys much I think things much much and I was there so you go off a new film The Secret thing when were you allowed to tell people that you were in it when they announced it. So until the phone from chemo pretty much my God what a surprise that how long between the look at me I've got now 5 I can't believe how you manage to keep the secret for how long your are slow or good so they announce the film is coming and coming out you know what did your friends then say. Yeah they were very happy for me yeah I want the I'm only in one scene over it doesn't matter you were in Star Wars can't understand I thought I was you come on come on just if you're on the cutting room floor it still can think about even you going to think of how I love that and then of course done let's talk about dunk I mean that was a phenomenal film an incredibly moving film and I would sit at the Imax you know in Waterloo and it was just it was like watching a documentary More than a film. And everyone you know obviously look everybody was talking about Harry and it. Oh are live all of you see it must have been an extraordinary thing to film it yeah it was unbelievable Yeah. So a defining moment I think in all the things you make want to welcome such a fantastic director. On a piece that is so important to so many people in this country as well and you know the same again with the cast have been yes a look at work with people who are Jen genuinely nice people and very talented so it was it was very difficult in terms of physically in a. Lot of hard work but it was really really rewarding in what way was it physically how I was looked at swimming in the sea. And it was a lot of on the war stuff and. So you had a lot of the real sort of army gear on and wet suits under. So you have it and you know you're working 1213 hour days maybe sometimes and yes it's hard work you please tell me you told people you got that part to know it was the same you know where do you know you know yeah I know you did you tell your mom again yet on how did you still not tell anybody nor can trust you know it's going to happen that you have to have like a brief moment which I'm sure you were and we are not lacking and I'm telling everybody on I'm not lacking it and I but no one's going to let you have a lazy one angle bank tellers Yeah yeah so when we were lots tell everybody about that yes same same same thing really Yeah yeah what I'm sorry why is it such a secret it was a secret he was making it no no but I think that got really slightly Elio about the boy sort of what an outcast is just because like. People like to keep special things like Star Wars and things where we want to keep the story secret and. To be a surprise for people so they're just trying to contain this poster is just yes I don't thing you well I never knew that you can tell I've been to many Hollywood blockbusters yeah we might over. Filming them and I mean we just can't discuss exactly oh you you know Hollywood blockbuster I was right I find a lot of agreement so I have to get that information and my hat Brian are you so you can't tell us so let's see if we can read your face all you at the moment contracted to a new movie Norman Siegel. Is there you go to another film I have you told your mom about the one that you can't tell us I'm not one another for you so I'm trying to catch you have to it's not working Ok so the Seagull is at the Lyric house with his own for a month until the 3rd of October it opens until the 4th of November if you haven't been to their house within it's wonderful place it really is what that guy's done with the guys on home yes just brilliant really really wonderful place to go along and see that and if you see him coming out of stage door this is Brian don't ask him about his next movie because he won't tell you you know obviously when you came out to drama school did you think for did you ever have that split 2nd where you thought wow I'm going to I want to be install was I'd like to be in a big blockbuster movie I want to be in a reimagining of Chekov I mean did it go like that because you know when you leave drama school you have all these hopes and ambitions Yeah honestly not really no I just. You know like I say I try not to think too far ahead and just trying to treat things that come so I mean obviously you want to. Try and do the best what you can and. You have been lucky enough to do that. And also I've still the T.V.'s that you saw missing out on the t.v. Stuff that you know how long ago did you leave drama school or 3 years ago he's like in a few. Right a body of work in 3 years is Oh well thank you. I just want to say you I got you also so self-effacing it's little it's wonderful night more actors be like you I think thanks I keep embarrassing him and say nice things and he's slightly blushing I'm usually in Paris that's how you know what really embarrasses you if somebody asks you. I don't know about Harrison Ford and all of him. But should we shall we discuss him just for 30 seconds of course yeah it must be quite something like going into a film like Star Wars and meeting those people from the cast who are part of our growing up yeah yeah of course. Yeah like I say again it was quite surreal and I. I mean house and forward and working with him but again like like. Everyone else of what he was going to off and really accommodating and you know just sort of one of those things we stay with you know your wife's watching him she saw attractive in real life yes yes you get get get and be an i.j. And he was on Graham Norton the other day on Friday night it was really good he had Ryan Gosling because of course they're in not comparable he lives over there in Blade Runner and it's had 5 star reviews absolutely everywhere played run you know the new remake where they just remaking No no no it's more the modern day it's not they're not remaking it it's the modern day Blade Runner they're all laughing at you outside lovely Chris Lloyd and Linda day who are letting you know anything about films I haven't even seen Star Wars have you seen don't suck. That's Ok I will now obviously have to watch them some point I tell you they're both worth it of than of the new Star Wars that's my favorite the 1st one actually is my favorite brands not going to take it for you know it really is good brands like your an absolute joy I wish you the best of luck in The Seagull and as I said it's a lyric hemis with from October the 3rd until November the 4th and there are a few tickets left I know you're pretty much sold out so you were good luck with that and the next film that you went to tell us about but I'm sure your mom really knows I know your mom really knows because you're just not telling us thank you very much coming up in the next half hour at tiny Edwards is going to be doing some extraordinary stories something to do with lions and tattles and that's all I know plus towards the end of the show we've got 2 of the big stars from Victoria on i.t.v. On Sunday nights were live Souter and Jordan warlock now that Edward Drummond and Lord Alfred Padgett last week they got naked so we're going to find out about but I but right now it's half past 2 let's get the latest news headlines for. Is still here which is lovely He's not talking about a new film he might not oh maybe possibly isn't because we're not allowed to ask he has to put a psycho verse head if we mention it something like that that was sort of right wasn't you know. I case attorney and now you've gone through all the way to wonderful stories that may might have missed before we do that you're going to be at the Bloomsbury theater on the 17th of October subject to change and that's the barrel isn't it the tightness of it to change which itself might be changed for take shape but I see it and it's confusing I think a lot of people think the date might change it when I was definitely written in blood 70 the vote. Bloomsbury with my new stand up show so now you actually practicing for next yes summer yeah does it take that low so it's my I'm pleased you know and I missed I missed da. Because I had a baby blue Thank you How is your baby he's very well he's keeping an eye on the flats afternoon that he can do and pleased to hear it got a good start me on I now he's won his time he started putting as weight so I took a I took it somewhere so I just I'm more ready than I would normally be obviously as I feel I'm already ready any You're already ready for when you're ready for next year but also it will change between 0 and Chris to protect borders jokes of course when you I don't know the good ones you want to stay with you probably the structural stay the same but then if everybody seeing you who loves you a lot of those jokes they're not going to be wanting to see you because they love you and love your jokes and new jokes. Of course but a changes and b. The idea is building audience isn't it so you change your stuff about oh Ok let's see I also like an album there you know. I hate to put it back the curtain but you do the same tracing clips for example from place to place because some people surprises them I've I've read comments on their. Clips of people like by seeing this person do these jokes before and it well you know basically because it's so high it's the moral of that is don't read the comments so I know they are preferable to some of the other comments but you said no bad language to start yes no no bad language Ok well let's discuss if we may there are a few things that are really important obviously to totals I think are we going on we're going to start to talk to I think we will start with this it's a totally wonderful story I credit. It's not mine don't panic this is not it's not that it's not the kind of standard you can expect in a time but this is an aquarium holding a wedding ceremony for 2 turtles their titles are very happy together so they feel it's worth it all by getting married what. They're married to the titles by real priest I'm not sure this is being Vatican approved but this is a man to steal understand how do they know the religion of the turtles I'm. Not sure that the Catholic Church recognizes title in title title in title either but we're just going to go with Grover thought Ok We want to let. Bridesmaid forward slash title x. But I'm a little she was a bridesmaid Yes Did she actually dress up so this is a once in a what state I believe. That I think. It's just like Don't Kakul over. You know I mean we have we've basically we thought you know it to an intellectual I thought Chekhov and you know. So when you get down a notch to something we would understand so how did they actually did the top what happened at the totals and go off together live in a little house with Liz I still think that's still in that in that stretch but basically very much and he did have a 30 strong section which is good this is a lot he stole Yes I thought people watched which the m. Yeah I also think this is the kind of example of why you should never find out about your exes because it turns out the reason they introduced me in the 1st place is that Annie was excessively frisky with a large stone in his aquarium so they thought that he was ready for for our real turtle and that is the kind of thing is that when you find out that. Your boyfriend is not really good taste. Makes you panic about your own self so yeah that is the title nice Well thank you for the top news I welcome you got more animal news why do I do rugby player Scott pulled when had to miss a game after he was bit by a lion while attempting to pet it I blame the titles for this you know titles getting my one week lie in singing in the West and in a play as if you got confused was in line King as oh I see this no I'm trying to work out why you have a lobbyist here's the thing 1st of all I'm really anti caged animals 2nd of all do not go and pat a lion he's like the wild animal and I missed a game he could be missing something more significant like at like a hand or a leg I mean I don't know if you do which rugby norm or football or football they do pretend or something that's good. So he got bitten by a lion and I think we all agree that he deserved to be bitten by a line because it's a time to do it about you I don't like being patted on my head either I know I say but it is so wild you know it's a wild animal Well you know what I think of you if you patted me on my head I might get irritated though Dr Braun was sitting very close don't know too much but I want to put a Suarez as a football reference for you good luck and thank you I didn't have my head as that amazing. Multiple opponents on the pitch he did oh yes I know the football yes I was a football fan to that thank you yes very good very good but now we're going to talk about what I said that we just have to go to bed bugs because you've done totals and lawyer I think should be bed bugs next bed bugs or during a resurgence you will be thrilled to hear that someone likes your dirty pants they have for my particular I'm sure you also just as good as everybody else's they have discovered that dirty laundry x. Is a powerful magnet for Bet bucks. It has been published in The Journal scientific reports and basically air failure to securely pack away your clothes could explain why populations of these bed bugs are traveling from country to country they're also blaming low budget and what they got to do with it it's not easy Jet or Ryan as fault for bed bugs surely more of us are traveling so well again but bucks with us are now here's the thing can we discuss proper bed bugs because I'm now it's so funny Brad started Scrushy his nose in my scratching my head I've. Seen pictures with me Ok. So you know everything making me go from me just the suddenly of them you can have to move out your house is a good thing to to bring in if you want me furniture if you don't want to rally there are often just infested very property with that box and then have to burn everything and start over Have you ever seen a life one never seen a real do you clean Ok Have you ever snow I haven't but I think if I turned up in a hotel and there have you ever see one brought us a little bit microscopic for you can see you. There we've got a serious we've got to. Think about it we've all got bed bugs and we don't even know maybe it's a film about bed bugs he's doing and he's not allowed he's not allowed to set but I do think and the question of hygiene we have another story here don't you see this one man arrested for using banknotes you very notes in lieu of toilet paper at Oktoberfest Germany. If that plate is way I can. He was wiping his bottom with euro notes yes he basically couldn't find it was quite short yeah he used to. Place a twit paper yes he was arrested after being spotted putting in its back into his wallet so I'm not quite so I'm not sure what the offense is that was he's not yet attempted to use the notes so it will just keeping a souvenir of your own message so you got it legal Ok I thought you meant he just I thought he just reached for some paper and fine and he tried to flush it but back in his wallet Yes And so I think the issue is the taking preemptive strike against him or it could be that he was seen going to the bathroom which is also probably not allowed but I bet you he's bringing back a lot of bed bugs from Germany. Probably go one well and everything else in that you don't listen just to tell you at home with their any children listening if you wipe your bottom you flush it straight down through put it back in your pocket and don't use hard cash especially on those old creasing the valuable you never notes don't do those if you got one more story for I do go in them the last one is the most important Laughter Test could reveal psychopaths of the future this is something all comedians know if you don't laugh at but it's all probably a psychopath they have revealed that. They have shown that failing to do it enough that maybe one of the earliest signs that children are at risk of growing up to be psychopaths brain scans of these young people suggests that while they clearly him others laughing the same does not have the same effect as pull that has for everybody else oh my gosh as many as one in 100 adults has an innate tendency towards manipulative or antisocial behavior that qualifies a psychopathic this is thought to be down to an inability to feel remorse and to empathize with the distress of others and all of these aspects do appear in children before they reach their teens so if I'm well so not laughing at your own jokes then that is a problem that I am. So please let my children go all the time get get hard like a song he laughs relentlessly he thinks I he and his father will Harriet's that's for the lucky as a comedian and you do want to. Read it as reassurance because your husband also Well he's used to as a civilian he's a mathematician I always say yes so does he'll offer you jokes you know he doesn't we don't decide as you know I don't temper he lost his inject he stay busy day and then when the better to be laughing at my jokes he was I made up my jokes about him so he's going to be really thrilled that you just discussed that on radio but he won't be listening to this on at which point he would be listening to is either what you mean how I feel and what you do else is not listening to this there is and he does he would listen to anything I do I would say very specific to me he would listen to you sure Norman. Was on it you know if a title it wouldn't isn't you I didn't turn up in his office without his I thought here I don't know you could do maybe that's what you need to do. Slim. Blood. Blood. Blood Glucose. I like that song Gabrielle Aplin there waking up slow now we are talking drinks tonics and teas I love the name of that book it sort of does something for me I don't know why tonic cities is what it is warming already Rachael the Temple is that how it kind of us are saying well done welcome How lovely to have you here now this is traditional and modern remedies that make you feel amazing Yes Absolutely I've actually just had one because I've had a terrible cold and I've had some there's an essential oil shot in the book actually it's quite good for speaking hopefully I'm on there but it's some lavender oil lemon oil and peppermint oil and it just gives your whole life but I sort of feel your whole system your lungs a good kind I drink a rush you yeah you just take a little shot of it Ok so we've got some drinks and now we've got bravo now who's in check of the Seagull. Dunk and Star Wars and yes and we also have Tanya Edwards his stand up comedian Are they going to try these drinks and so you're going to feel amazing guys are Ok so 1st of all let's start with Tanya Now what is time you're going to drink when I have I have to because I'm being extremely greedy and I don't know which is we're all right let's go for that one for the one you got in your left hand the brown looking once again this is perhaps yes yes is a really full on really energizing tonic called Jameco and yet it's Balinese It's also known as a love potion so why some united think Ok what's in it and I can taste it Yeah definitely so it's turmeric tamarind ginger and a bit of black pepper she's going for a 2nd set I must know it's a trial I served at the other night at the book launch and we had Prosecco as well and people were going for that they were quite hard core and that sound yeah got really good feedback so wow I have. That does taste good for you and you can taste the gender which I like yeah it tastes of you can taste the Tom Rick because well I love ginger shelter how much time I used to get up on it that's what I want to have I think it just gets your sort of your your blood moving it wakes you up yes absolutely you know you like that one brand you know it's nice Ok So next let's go Tanya you're going with a yellow we're looking at is what's very distinctive smell Yes a really good alcohol substitute So when you're not drinking this is the perfect drink I shall insist on it's plum and rose water cafe or so I've done a sort of Bayswater cafe or recipe in the book with lots of ideas of how to make it different and fun each time you brew it so this one has one and yeah rose petals infused in that and plums is what this is so it it's very swells it goes probiotics so it has lots of over 30 strands of good bacteria for your gut so you get you she has just one and this one for this fantastic littlest and it's really it's really delicious and a lot of people think it tastes like wine it tastes like alcohol Yeah but that's a that's a I think take what I had cocktail than wine yeah you know it's really not his you can taste the raisin it you like that one eyed that while I think of still prefer the 1st one the farm on this now we're going to go for the last one now I'm going to try this one 1st now this is kind of pull base is it is so it's called to patch a Mexican during strange smell and it's made it's made from the pineapple skins so you for menthe them only for 2 or 3 days with spices and brown sugar so has cinnamon and cloves and that there is something very strange about the smell that it is it's I'm finding it hard to have a sip and I even smell the smell hits you 1st and it's Ok. Oh my goodness maybe delicious the smell doesn't do it justice the snow actually puts me off if I'm on and yeah it's not want to swell and cry and have a sniff of taste and so this one smugly carbonated as well but it tastes alcohol a lot yeah it does something of its It is mildly alcoholic but only a fraction because it's only fermented for a couple of days. And it's really easy to make you just put everything in a jar However with the know how do you know if you decide I think if you say it's because it would have to taste it will pass I think in the 1st place but I was also one of my cat what this is and this is because it has a slight. Ring of t.c.p. To it my mother was a t.c.p. Fanatic there that's what it's not it's not yes yes and she used to give and many other things are available and I mentioned that many times there are other things like that all the nothings if you think but not to drink so these these. Drinks tonics as you call them yes these are all very very good for our sales but at the very old fashioned only with some of the more yes some I mean they did Jemma Kundra it's been used for over 5000 years as a tonic to smells it's also known as as well as the love potion people call an apple the apple a day it's the equivalent of you drink that every day and you shouldn't get sick at all they last me put them in you know they do yeah especially the fermented ones will keep for 66 weeks or longer and the jamma can you keep for week or 2 and in the fridge Now how did you get involved in doing all of this because I know I love that reading about you it says that you're a forward yes and that you're a gardener Yes and to cook Yes Well I mean a lot of these drinks you can actually like the rose petals I will forage rose petals and dry them and then use them in the drink but I've always I've I've always been interested and different potions I suppose just through being a colon area enthusiastic and always experiment ing and trying new flavors but I've also seen a nutritionist over the years and so I've worked closely with her on the on the book she sort of infused it with all her wisdom you know really giving a layer of knowledge as to what the drinks really do to you and what's going on but I started seeing her after feeling a bit rubbish even though I was in. Thing really well and I was doing all the right things and I found I had no good bacteria in my guts because I grew up in the States and I had lots of antibiotics and never had probiotics to replace all the good bacteria and a lot of people liken that to bleached on your system so I had a very clean system are full of no no goodness so I've I've actually used a fear as as a tonic parsley It is incredible stuff I mean everybody I know that we'll you know I make my own now it's very exciting my kids don't like the smell and I make my own and we do lots of jugs of it at home but it does make a difference you know you don't really does absolutely I mean sometimes some of these drinks give you an instant reaction and then others like taking the cafe or daily will give you no longer term benefits but they're and they're so easy to make and the ones that are fermented it's just it's quite addictive because a lot of them are really short from it so you're not talking about you know weeks and weeks it's a couple of days and you have this homemade fizzy drink you've created your own carbonation and it's quite exciting what's the thing that you have 1st thing in the morning that apart from your café what would be your tonic for 1st thing in the why would go for my make an almond milk affair with I usually put dried fruit helps get the fermentation going so and it actually gives a layer of flavor so I would put a figure in it and then put a bit of cinnamon which is really no that's lovely I also really love much tea so I I put my favorite Mucha tea in the book which again I really love almonds milk so I do with all Mint milk not mag from the last thank you very much and the very best of luck with your book tonics ladies lovely to meet you thank you very much indeed the smell of that drink is still in my nose and the taste is delicious the smell is quite extraordinary thank you so much now let's get the latest travel with Fiona. Dead dead dead dead dead dead to love cause we're going to be speaking to Jo McFadden our man in Strictly Come Dancing will be speaking to him after $330.00 which we're going to do every single week while strictly is on it was magnificent last night and Joe if you're listening I thought you did really well and I'm going to talk to you very soon but Debbie McGee who have no ma ma I want what you did so graceful and then Aston Merrygold just I think you're going to win I think Aston is going to win quite something but so do a job as well because Joe was just wonderful and he's very much our job McFadden Now coming up we have got more live music from the basket that I picked up in Maryland high street Graham welcome back Graeme math and brigade who is going to be singing alongside him also joining us now in the studio is Emily Beecham Daphne 5 stars everywhere and congratulations on those reviews thank you very much it must be quite something I know you don't read reviews but no actor or actress ever does but. If any read them if they're sent to me because I figured I was going to send me something he hain't And so I will if they do they're never your friend again. Why did you do that and Tanya Edwards he still has his wonderful coming up also in this hour we're going to be talking television was shown at William and also how to have a lovely guys from Victoria Leo Sita is going to be here. Street you will say you do Bosco and it's very interesting somebody said to me before you know that the buskers seem to do incredibly well and people go back to see them and when I was hearing Graham playing Margaret high street the other day I saw this couple and they were sitting outside the pub opposite and they just had their eyes closed and they had a drink in the afternoon in the sunshine and you would just transporting them to somewhere else with your socks from playing it really is quite something you do something wonderful in the streets as it were you were to keep people wearing curiosity killed the cat of course for many years and you played the album who quite frankly you're playing Margaret high street now which is just as joyful as I would be going to sing for us this time we're going to be singing Let's fall in love with this about you. Love Lane of course is not actually a song about beauty I just have to point that out if you like Frankly I do you just sing together and that say but that was beautiful that the saxophone playing the saxophone is an incredibly sexy instrument it's quite wonderful looking at the 2 ladies had their real love. Wonderful isn't it lovely thank you so much a lovely voice you thought so thank you I wish by the very best of luck I don't think you are having and now it's lovely to see you sir such a Saturday night so you're going to play and double a straight and Byron High straight as well tonight and I just got come to the mike for a Grammy yes yes yes tonight if anybody's in Covent Garden. There are terror and sings we place lovely from 6 pm almost on your mind just on my own on your end if you love the saxophone and you think it's a sexy instrument that oh yeah great thank you very much indeed lovely to see you guys like the much now. I'm just I am microphone off that was a little bit silly really that was a bit very big silly very excited to have you here Emily beach I'm happy because every But I have to tell you I had a lot of e-mails and when I tweeted this morning that you coming on the shark I'm going to name drop Ok I mean if you don't want to going to name drop so Craig Parkinson for a good line of duty he says he doesn't know you but he thinks the film is outs and . And an utterly stupid he went to see it I thought Tex some of the people saying have you seen Daphne yet it's been a wonderful very much based in London isn't it yes it is we shot in an Elephant and Castle. And Peter direct he was keen on shooting around there because it's for developing changing and it's multicultural and it just was a great place to tell his story and that's a big part of her story as her experience in the in the city so tell us all about halfway there well she's she's quite an unusual female protagonist she's very. Abrasive and uses her humor to deflect and I think she's a very modern representation of unusual representation of a woman living in the city and I don't think you see many characters like that on screen. And we have as so many people come out to means there are that's that's Mike of some my friends in London or that's like my sister and he said that yesterday. Which is really rewarding because you just don't see how very often I think she's so relatable I see parts of myself in her and part of my friends in her and. Yeah it's good it's very real it's very raw Yes it is and those sort of films when they come away think that that really exciting because I mean we had a lovely bride in before and I mean his office is doing the seagull He's a super actor but he was in something I mean dug up was very real I have to say but he was also Star Wars which is very unreal and we seem to have so much of that around now in the c.g.i. As your film is absolutely playing a word real but it is yeah it's very simple Peter was always late the shot look too beautiful wonderful cinematographer Adam scarf and if it was too gorgeous looking to show use on or not stupid fully Scottish by the way it's my. He gets annoyed in meeting President. Was too peaceful no no no so he liked it very yeah very real and raw as you say Yeah so how do you pick and choose what what do you say yes to. Well definitely is a no brainer because she's so interesting I never read a character like that and I think I think if you do get a role nor did that come your way I think. They're probably quite sought after because it's such a meaty interesting role with so many idiosyncrasies and. So often you go in for a girlfriend role and you know you have to me just lovable and supportive and and I found that a little bit uncomfortable. And not so interesting but. Yeah it was just obvious and the team. Got to go Valentino from the Bureau they just made 45 years and they've got such great taste and new commencing are right it's it was just a really good team and I just loved every decision and I was very felt like a very collaborative process so it was all very natural and organic as you say you said it was actually you know was. The wonderful thing is we were when we were talking to Brian before and he was saying he just he left drama school and he did all of it and in 3 years he's a credible body of work when you've been the same in your the amount of stuff that you've done and everybody again I'm going to embarrass you as I'm Doris him you were named the Bright Young Thing in Vanity Fair and everybody's going mad about you is that quite I asked him this question so apologies but is it quite a heavy burden to carry that everyone says you're the new bright young things and that watch this space these people are going to change the way we see acting Not really because I feel so supported by the role of Daphne coming out because I believe in it so much I believe in her so much and it's more to me it's more about her and her story and what she represents and who who who is sort of supports in a way because it's wonderful to have people storyteller told you don't feel like it's been told very much and I think that's just been a focus for me and how enriching that fails and rewarding in all the right reasons and. Yang just focus more on how much support she has gone and she's almost like a real person to us really because she is so she's so many people so when you get these well as I've said before. Or when you get these incredible reviews you said people send them to you. Come on you must read otherwise. I don't really know where to find them that sounds really ridiculous but sometimes yeah I just emailed a bunch. They must be saying that I haven't hunted you know it's always a bad idea to who has negative words and your name at the same time but I could positive ones either no or no you see though for things they were safe you believe the good then you know if you believe that if you believe the good then you should believe the bad and so on all right I'm Yanks I want you I want you like I knew that you know if you really read something bad about yourself and I Well well there's I mean it magnifies the wonderful thing about Daphne is also out and about in London as you said and funnily enough we don't see many of those films anymore it was very much the sixty's had a lot of London in them that's true and that's funny that you said that this yeah yeah that's true somebody had she compared a film which it is it isn't really that much like it but I understand some comparisons is that it's an old film called Looking for Mr Goodbar And it's but it's set in New York and looking from it we just got shown Ed Williams And it's just a really fantastic film so it isn't just a film the ending is very different but it is very effective in relatable again and she's almost unlikable certain ways but you love you relate great shot in the. Same little window in the car. Going in and he's betrayed is wonderful it's hard to cut from 0 but anyway listen many congratulations on it awfully you know is it one of those things now that you're just sort of sitting back and people just calling you going yeah I can't do that I'm sorry I'm 40 business has it changed you're how people perceive you do you think well I'm actually shooting at the moment in. A series in Dublin so there has been quite exhausting actually doing just kind of it's worth it. Lovely printed in Daphne and same time yes so I'm I'm contracted to that right now and can you tell us about it it's an American it's a name See series called into the badlands and on season 30 yes of course yes it's very couldn't be more different today after very much an action thing as martial arts. I do yes does it is there I don't. Want to do so now on the right yeah sure that was incredible. I was so fast I almost didn't say it was lightning speed I did about 6 cakes just and mortally wounded you have to do you have anything I can try I suppose you had to have Yeah we did yes yes had to put on weight and muscle things like that because I'm a little bit small so you know. So you're filming that at the moment I'm and you know what's coming up after that. Not so much I've met some really interesting people whose work I really love so that's that's really wonderful and we'll see it's bit too far away right now to know but yeah well I wish you very best of luck I'm as I said many congratulations on Daphne as well thank you the film everybody's talking about which must be quite something to be in something of a shot at William Well it's lovely to be talking television with you I haven't got my list are going to have to get that from Chris right now but why are which program we're going to start where we start with the national treasures or even treasures of Strictly and bake off let's do I That means I can actually play strictly theme again because we've course we're going to be speaking to Jen McFadden But I but how do I have to find everything I have. To go so let's start with what I think I see much this thing is that they have become national treasure experiences at their family events family sit down I think the x. Factor is the same actually in that we all sit down we watch these journeys and at their best I think they show people being genuinely creative and going on wonderful . Odysseys I think Strictly when people go from being non-dancers like already last year who wasn't a dancer now can't you know his dance is going to be his life forever or the Bake Off chefs who just surpassed their wildest dreams it's very inspiring because it's about art and it's about doing something really constructive with your life at their worst at some and I think x. Factor is a bit. Tending towards this it's a bit like you know laughing at people in Bedlam in the 19th century you know sometimes people are put into more difficult situations but I think that their best that fantastically positive life affirming shows and it's it's to do with autumn now you sort of get used to the I did in the autumn we're going to go on these big epic journeys with these with these people but I like it because I watch the shows and my son and it just turns into a family thing because in the old days we'd all been watching great comedy shows with it has been more why Yeah and I find that you are a sad that it's it is now more a kind of reality t.v. Thing however it's very nice to have them back and they're both brilliantly made and we have of course team Radio 4 which is Susan Calman and Richard Coles. One day they're doing brilliantly season you know I think actually rather good dancer so I know that she's always wanted to do this show and she's having such a great time I was loving it so much so again it's very nice to see people really inspired and enjoying things so I will be watching but we have to mention Jim fighting because he's very much our boy on the show so we speak to an everyman clad in as well and also good but you know 20 the standard design and Debbie McGee deputy let me just me and I am so proud of her I just think my goodness those legs and those almost you know the arms did she was great isn't she so wonderful a role model for us mature a ladies now let's talk about something that I think has I'm sad that not many more people are watching it cold feet is yes well I was a bit worried in the 1st 2 episodes that is going on. For bit actually I thought it was getting a bit soapy and I sort of thought don't really care about Adam and his girlfriend but then the episode last week about teenage pregnancy was one of the most brilliant things I've seen in a long time very delicately handled all teenagers should watch this show because what it does what it did is it gave you such a strong sense of how painful and difficult situations like that are you know even with the most supportive loving parents you know both children had very very supportive understanding parents but even then the process is so sad so bleak the decision so hard to make and I thought they did that wonderfully So I think it's completely back on form actually And you know with the usual cocktail of great laughs as well fantastic performances and all very believable and relating to so many people yeah I think it's a great series it's also very funny and I see you having a bit of a moment actually maybe because bad move which is the new Jack De Niro my thread very mixed of yeah I think people need to give it a chance you know you can't really decide after 2 episodes but Jack he's very funny and the wonderful Carrie godly man who's a great comedienne She's fantastic in it it's an interesting idea about downsizing to the countryside miles jump is very funny and if you go I love the idea for person but Pete Sinclair is a terrific writer who writes it with Jack Dee I think people need to give it a chance and interesting thing the how making it you know what I mean by that you know they're putting it between 2 episodes of Coronation Street the clever thing about that is that there is an inherited audience and an audience anticipating the next episode so the figures are very good they had 4 point something the 1st week and 3.7 last week didn't lose that many between weeks which is a big achievement these days very high figures for comedy so I'm I'm really I think people should stick with it and give it a chance now you'd like to talk about a bilingual please tell us about this Ok so this is on s 4 c. Which is the Welsh Channel 4 it's called Bang it's it is an entirely bilingual shows a half of it's in Welsh and half of it's in English and there are subtitles for the . The English speakers as it were and it's at import told that which is the weird weird town with a massive steel works and the end for slicing it in half it looks amazing it's brilliant you shot it directed by Philip John and it's got 2 actors who actually English audiences will know so this captions do it from Dr Who and Jacko began who's in it was in a show called cuffs a couple of years ago they're both absolutely outstanding and in fact the performances are remarkable there's something very distinctive an original about it again it's quite funny at times but it's very bleak and it's about. Life input Tolbert it's about drugs and but it's also about families and it's just really in families and drugs yes of course. But it's it's absolutely brilliant and I'd really highly recommend it is in its 4th episode now but if you go to the will see website which is called click which is spelt c l i c You can it's on tonight at 9 o'clock actually onus foresee things like 134 on Sky but if you want to see it with subtitles and go to the website really is worth catching up with some of the best acting you'll see this year I thank you very much the ladies a looking Yes well I'm going to do that I'm not leaving particularly is quite remarkable can you really can we talk about Barbie we can now before you mention anything I'm just going to ask because we have a top actress Emily Beecham top comedienne 10 year Edwards ladies did you have a Barbie be honest yes it is new so Emily didn't turn you did no no no I did yeah right because you both also sometimes that's just the protection it did you have a job and I've still got mine. Can I Can I confess something yes I don't know if I might get b. No I hate being oh my I never had a Barbie or my girls were not allowed didn't want them home parrotlet if they weren't allowed or they didn't want they didn't want them and they don't and they were I would if they wanted Well I wouldn't have bought them and I mean they are an atomic Lee very suspect as the new one I've got from the seventy's so I had a Barbie and a tress c. Remember trustee you could pull her hair out from the top of the head you'd have short sixty's a or long hair and you have still got them both which is horrified I didn't play with them for years and years I adored my dolls I have to say anyway Mary porter who I think is a very good person to be looking at the madness that is Barbie I mean I think at their worst they were as I say anatomically suspect I mean they were like make Playboy bunny girls really people make themselves into real life they really are yeah I remember years ago when I was working on Jonathan Ross's show we used to have been quite regularly on the shows he was fascinated by these people they would have plastic surgery in fact they were Paul's as well you know about No Ken I beg your pardon Bobby had a boyfriend called Kane and there are people who make themselves. Up to a very sad but I thought about a player can make himself into a cat so some people you want to do strange things saying psycho had a thought and tongue and everything you know I remember our views about the same well. Anyway it's all next week kind of there are choose day 1015 probably worth having a look at now who do you think you are what I have an I never remember the title of this it is called Who Do You Think You Are Yes I don't look like an absolute corker how little a little Ruby Wax who had quite a turbulent childhood with parents who'd fled the Nazis in Vienna in the thirty's and as she had says there's a great quote here she said she bought the war they bought the war into our kitchen so that was such an extra the way of putting it so I think you have father was violent they had a very. Sort of a brazen marriage and she is the child. And of this marriage she thinks some of her own mental health problems stem from this very difficult childhood and now she's going back to Vienna to try and find out what created these terribly troubled individuals who became her parents and in doing so hoping then to learn it a bit about her own life maybe what come to terms perhaps a little bit with this sort of constant. Pain that she's in although at this one quote things very moving which she said because she's actually quite medicated she does mindfulness and which is a fantastic thing to do and she's very open and honest about it very funny about it but she at one point I read she said that she was so medicated she couldn't feel the deep pain that she encountered in wow and which is a really honest thing to say but also really again very sort of sobering So I think it's going to be hard watch but really worth seeing and I think whenever they go back and they see outfits I mean I think it was Jerry Springer he came on this show yeah right afterwards and he broke down and talking about it I was in the Sierra variety going back to Poland and just all his family were in a book you know and I think it's and you know the really said one thing is that most people are only a generation or 2 away from real hardship you know Jeremy Paxman found out that he'd had a great grandfather in a workhouse and I think he was really surprised that it was that close and Danny Dyer's royalties are. Really just going to have a soul but they are great progress thank you so much so much as always coming up talking of royalty we've got 2 of the stars of Victoria live here in the studio in the next few minutes but now let's get the latest news. The cat she was terrified of the cat to get dates and you would be telling the Islam to I think it's b.b.c. Radio London I. Am in a matter of moments I'm going to be playing a choosing from the Sunday night show the time absolutely loving every minute of but 1st of all I get to play this cheering again. How scared does that make you feel joy when you hear us it's not such a night. You know what I thought you didn't really really well so I think you know I just think about how we. Should fight. And I to be fair I didn't really know what. But that's the joy of a show like you have a really great week one week and be on quite 9 and it completely but I don't care but it was fine and the judges broke and if they were also quite constructive in the course of went off or. You know I just felt like let's put it fly you know. How I mean it you do you all look less nervous last night I have to say I think that was partly the problem because last week it was all sort of. There and the adrenaline was flowing and so I waited but I got more whereas this week were that it was a lot doesn't always help you to be relaxed the situation because you know you are on life and you have only had 4 half days to learn a dance we sort of do have to a bike so hopefully the adrenaline will be back next week you know I know people are not there and I was raised to be like that because it really was a joy to watch I mean you obviously but I don't think there's any weak link there's no one here Aston was and there's some of those left to move that he did were it sold amazing absolutely amazing I mean that was and some of the performances really went up last night people like like with what brilliant gem I can say kind of was really amazing so some of us some of us got together and others not so much he was your favorite judge. If you see that judge will surely have been a real champion at last you can even even last night she said Stefan and she's kind of what she's going on so I thought they were actually going to roll great in the way they all can get such great and well being that we're talking about a job that most respects them all so lovely you're not allowed to tell us what next week's dances are you know I don't know if I can say that it's a poll room I Jad. Listen let me let me tell you that's great you would be magnificent as always obviously somebody is being knocked out tonight and we will see that tonight but Joe as always what's a joy to speak she Thank you so much my darling with speech next week yes got a good week but Joe McFadden that but there is another show also on Sunday nights Was was. Could this possibly being that I rather love this show because yes again no. Got stars Victoria was an utter pleasure the Cher is and I'm so thrilled that I have these 2 rather lovely young men in front of me Leo Sita and Jordan Walla who were of course Edward Drummond and Lord Alfred Padgett How lovely to have you back thank you. To be it is really nice to have you by thin now I am enjoying this show so much I think it's so beautifully done and as I said to all the other stars have been in we don't need to list them all because they've all been on which is lovely but to me it's the most glorious red watt gloss of red wine feet help bubble bath warm comfy duvet talent in a long weekend yet no it's very warm it's very comforting you can just contrast it to ask people around here we go that's perfect now to be in this show so far we learn to all about what it's been like to work on it behind the scenes we've spoken to the other stars about it but nobody else has actually discussed jumping in cold water now I know the 2 of you have done this already you've discussed this and I know you said it very carefully because this is a family show but let's go into some detail shall way last week we saw the 2 of you take your clothes off didn't we gentleman. Yes you did. The story about you actually were you jumping into this cold bit of water heated I love this you're both blushing you can see this now on my friends here are bright red and their face is bright red white and I was red is my little daughter. Thank you for sharing that you got a little red bottom Now let's discuss about what happened go on share with us you actually had to do that same thing we have never had it we had to do it for real it was very very rainy on the day so we were worried that we weren't actually going to get any filming done. But we did and it was freezing cold sort of we have very few takes to do it because once you get wet then you can go back and recreate So we have one jumping in and then you have to you have your body temperature has to get back to normal so we sat in the tent woman each other. Ok there's no you continue all this really or you've got the wrong. But yes we get it yeah you know it was really freezing Ok because they were a little pond in North Yorkshire and it was so cold and I think maybe the both of a man who could test for that that's Ok upset you more lives than mine. But it was it was an extraordinary experience we also had but doubles to perform the actual jump it so you were joking Yes Ok well. He was cool lipped on entry and there was a massive gasp because he did really because he was going to head the jump is actually is quite a perilous thing so you didn't do the jump yourself we wanted to but for insurance purposes we weren't allowed to say if you pause it's not my oh my goodness me and you want to disappoint you but we were usually in a cave where we were completely naked and we were we were we were the other 2 were no they weren't they were only of the officer and I mean. Well I do know what is so wonderful and not just the opposite coast but the relationship between lives who would you want to carry until you got back but the relationship between the 2 of you because of course it was it's very very it's this undercurrent that we're watching that the 2 of them are obviously falling for each other and love each other but it often in those days could it was a love that had no name you could not do this of course. That's exactly right I mean the idea of having their name is is is the most interesting one because though we have all of these great labels for this kind of love Q x y z in those days you know it wasn't categorized properly and it means that the. The experiences that our characters are going through have no linguistic basis so it's really interesting is that as well how do you how do you compute with these feelings that you can't understand linguistically and what that also means is that some of our chat up lines. In the books for example because I can't say Are you gay are you queer those words didn't have the same meaning so the chat up lines are actually a manifestation of what John's talking about that it's hard to put into words these sort of novel ambiguous feelings and really come to terms of now how true and how real is this part of the story. Well it's an interesting one obviously there's somewhat of a fabrication about it but I think there's a truthfulness to it because the idea that. Men have been having sex with men women have been having sex with women since time immemorial. The only the only documentation of that has always been a negative one so it's always you know when people contributing sodomy laws or when you know a jealous husband might be worried about the you know Suffolk proclivities of his wife where is this is truthful in so far as it explores where what would happen truthfully between 2 people who felt this way in the Victorian era even though that might not been documented in my character you know strictly speaking factually speaking was straight or whatever because he hides a wife and 13 kids so 13 you might think you might enjoy. Somewhat Mr Drummond and Mr Drummond without a wife and quite a young you know what all 55 actually I don't believe I was but my point I love them very very gradually. So for the 2. I mean it's wonderful because it's one of the it's a to play that sort of part where you have to say so much without saying it as you say you can't use the language that it's all in the eyes that that must be much call for you to to do it's fun it's fun and you can feel it coming in the seam and then I do the look. And I give you. A bed to do you now see each other which actually is quite low you know this is this is untrue untrue let you think you can get you know obviously get on ridiculously well you know it's a fact yeah it's been really nice going into their lives and we definitely like the chemistry between us has warmed up an awful lot as the series is going on obviously to perhaps the role we slept together which was interesting I mean you know the differences thing you mean in a bunk but absolutely yeah because if you're going to do. Now the whole thing about Victoria it's. I as I said it's so it's beautiful it's one of those dramas I watch it and I feel that I'm watching a tapestry I feel as if I'm disappearing into an oil painting this way it's beautifully made so when you watch it back you must feel very proud of it actually I You really do I really do and because I'm coming on to the 2nd series I was in the 1st series it was very exciting to actually see see the palace and recognize the bedroom and the ballroom of series one so there was a real sense when I walked on set that this was a special passage of it is a set to the record much at Kensington Palace because it looks pretty much like it did in her time I think that's Joe Well yeah they do an amazing job recreating it all but no it's most of it Buckingham Palace is a set but we sometimes go to the country houses in Yorkshire will have us. We know them by our house issue it's all up but I'm going to Scotland where Victoria did go to where I thought I got to go there we could because that's coming up and it's happening which you would definitely want to achieve in re going to give give us a little teasers because I've been told I'm been told what's happening very it's very strange I was given the synopsis I'm told I'm not allowed to say so you probably know what you're allowed same what you're not allowed to any historical spoil is the best thing to do is probably consult a history book but for for this series you know it's oh it's all things will not stop things I think things are going to heat up so definitely tune in this evening and definitely next week is all I can that's 9 o'clock on i.t.v. And if you haven't seen it obviously go to the i.t.v. Help because it really is well worth seeing there's also a Christmas special and I love this all I've been told about the Christmas special when I talk about it is it's Christmas a. That's quite reckless a lot space and saying There they go Well yes best Christmas album. You know yes all the players all the things that we now think of us because this is a great yet Christmas and really all that sort of chocolate box Christmas is via Prince Albert he's waiting for he gave his baby Jesus thank you for that one time yes it really is quite quite something though what he did but he was quite I I've always been fascinated by her but not quite as fascinated by him and he's an accident was an extraordinary man he was an incredibly curious mind and Christmas special we've sort of the picture is the Christmas Nazi because he gets he gets so mad about any wants to control everything around the house but it is amazing the amount the amount of intellectual and scientific vein that he that he brought to the household in that he would he would champion all of these different causes like with the Laplace and things like that and how different he is from Victoria that's what yes I find interesting because I'm often in. Private Secretary to the prime minister so I'm in these important meetings and you see. Very rarely do Victorian Albert present a united front they've got different opinions and and different agendas in the scene so that's quite interesting as playing a young character in that room to feel that tension between the young married couple is kind of interesting that metformin says. Just sublime So what do we know do you know about the next series are you allowed to say do you feel smiling smiling you're not allowed to say anything my job that I can possibly say that is that both doing it good and as if they'd be crazy not to do any of the series Thank you much you know why don't you do a show that's doing so hugely well and then how it's been sold abroad as well hasn't it I think to 156 countries if there are that many but not France interesting that because of the French I think. That that I don't I have no idea but you know if you're French and you're listening to Hello. Did you say anything or did you say anything rude that no knowledge or Oh Ok Ok Was everybody suddenly suddenly iconic because there we go that was a French word he used not an English word that might it sounded like something else that yes we have very careful that for you I just love the idea that they you were coming into a show that obviously had taken the country by storm and when you got that auditioned it must been so thrilling it was very it was quite strange Actually I often these things are quite last minute and I was in Los Angeles and I needed to get the tape in. By the end of the day so I did it at 6 in the morning. And hardly sent it off I'm going your phone or something on my phone wow with me saying the other lines saying you know so and and then 3 days later I was packing been doing the read through and we were filming 7 days later you kidding me it was that false it was not just wow yeah. Congrats I was up and you congratulations that's lovely now I have chosen for this week sing along we've got something just for the 2 characters not for you to Ok because otherwise I don't want to this it's not going out of it's not you know the 2 of you that are in love but the 2 characters but you can't do that so it's not a right you think that was for you to that's that's absurd it was you can guess what this possibly might be that probably gets from the intro you just have to sing along with the music in the background take a guy's Crikey I love this. Band they're wonderful madness there you go. I never thought I believe you. Will it's going to turn to when you're getting in a couple have a dog you want to break up.
