A bit of a prolonged sneeze I've had one heck of a week and now I did mention I was going to head down to Guildford So I went to my sister annealing 1st have a cup of tea for an I got changed into me going out clothes and then drove to Guildford for an hour from Ealing and sat and watched my god some in his end of year production drama school he's at Guildford School of Acting you still got till September to do its thing but it was their end of year you know project basically what they've been aiming towards And it's a Danish play called Festen there is actually a film about it and it's quite dark and it was quite intense and to the point of me being in tears through. It quietly though I sniffled quietly and luckily his mother felt the same he was the lead and he was the easy youngest member of the cast in these year and he sort of had to carry and he carried it very well it was you know part intensity of the production but also part proud of the fact that he is turning into this smashing young man who is going to be a very good actor I was so you know it was quite exhausting I spent some time flew out of the car on Saturday and then another few hours in the car on Sunday but it was well worth it but needless to say I was a little bit tired Yeah so I've been set a task to day to day to go meat free because we're going to talk about this I'm talking to Katie best go she's the author of 15 minute vegan it's a fabulous book actually hold on Hold it right there it's really a book. Not really like says they were they were an essential really good and done without them but in terms of what you've worn accessorize with which might have been a bit iffy here from you my sister had a clutch by which looked like a magazine Well you know you can get now there's a quite retro but she had to the very 1st one back in the seventy's so please do let me know your fashion accessory folk halls 034-5300 you see 58 you listening to Georgie tonight across England and the Channel Islands is a day. Bring . Me. Back. With. Adele and rolling in the deep on the b.b.c. Across England in the Channel Islands you listening to me Judy Spanswick on Georgie tonight today is a world meat free day and you might have heard about meat free Mondays I had a go at this one of my colleagues a former station was doing this and I thought well maybe I'll give that ago and it's and it's not as difficult as I thought it was going to be and I've kind of come round to the sort of no the so much the routine of I did every Monday but I do tend to do it more Mondays out of the month and than I would have normally have done and it's just to encourage us all to go meat free basically for the day well see set me the challenge yeah cookery had me recording in my kitchen I'm delighted to say that I've stepped up to the plate with my knife and fork quite honestly I started this morning with breakfast this is how I got on so meat free Monday. I like the idea of this. Thing that worries me is that I do laugh at the cheese and eggs and bacon. To me about how much you know I'm going to cheer me up softly I'm going to have. Cottage cheese with my money sell it or etc going in. Of of. Just merely past its best but just rescued it from the. Waste not want not. If you saw the contents of our fridge you'd be thinking oh that they were sitting. So I say this from the composting been. The middle bit and go with it Ok. I like the idea that I do actually dimly free. You know regular trying one well as a regular day a week. From pleasure to feel like you had too much. Right century. Or the markets I do like the world is wired not pulled all summer. After this one but I don't I'm starting to do it now because I've got graduation ceremonies to go to and I'm just a little bit too big for the photographs. I don't want to show the eldest. And the rest of me breaking up. And I know what I'm going to get I'm sorry this is so naughty but it's got to be. Cautious Chase never again. The u.k. So there's the ways to get in contact This is the police and every breath you take talking of police crimes against fashion well accessories. The police and I regret it now that you go vegetarian a couple of messages actually on Twitter tonight you can search for me b.b.c. Judy tonight Katherine says all Mondays have been meat free for me since April 987 when I became a veggie h. Knowing hash tag meat free Monday my goodness me and this I love this message is coming this is from murder Joe she says hi meat free Monday no prob when I go to stay with my veggie daughter in Yorkshire it's no meat unless you are canine but I draw the line at giving up my glass of wine with my dinner Georgie not. Joe thanks for the text and I ate one triple 3 star you message with the word George I love the stories on this where you do we're going to try or actually are you vegetarian or vegan and how long have you been that way have you you know that math found it easy to love to hear from you now I'm giving me free Monday go will get to me dinner later on in the show but I'd love some tips all tips gratefully received it's a campaign to get us to eat less meat and this campaign's back by Chris Darwin sound familiar He's only the great great grandson of naturalist Charles Darwin Yes Siam which is lovely except of course in school you are called the missing link but apart from that. They have a good sense of humor. Why do you think we should eat less meat Chris Well I suppose while meat free days got a really lovely idea which is to have one me your one year each year which is meat free so that's actually that's the idea and of course the benefits is so massive So not only I think most of us now know that it's healthier a lot of people are starting to know that it's better for the climate what's what's less well known is. Actually it's quite good for feeding start the starving around the world because starving are in direct competition with our poultry. And various feed lots for the world's grain so there's many many advantages and just one meat one meal one day a year doesn't sound too much to Georgia not at all because I like to do meat free Monday I've got into my mindset now that Monday's the day and I feel a slight a feeling of relief I have not ate an animal I'm not meant to tear in but I'm not even animal I've sort of rested must I'm account basically because there we done with 8 pounds of undigested meat in the small intestine or something like that is there it's some amazing stat I've heard that before and it's a pretty nasty thought is no why do we have to challenge people to eat less meat these days well I think the thing is it is it is it we're very that want to animal and here we are we're getting a child star in here I mean Charleston it's not the strongest survive nor the fittest it's the ones that are the most adaptable and I think what we're looking at is we're looking at a planet was 77000000000 the moment we're going to go up to 9000000000 that's a lot of people on a quite a small planet and if we all eat meat at the right we're eating we're going to have to cut down an awful lot of forests and a lot of very scared sardines around the place. You say you know one day one year how much difference does that make then to go vegetarian for just that well I mean well that's so I think that what we're talking about is. An avenue into a new behavior a bit like you use you said you said you have a meat free Monday what we hope will happen is somebody will have one me all this year and they'll go actually that wasn't so bad and that she quite enjoy that meal and maybe I should do meat free Monday and then having done meat free Monday for a bit of time they go maybe I should do tofu Tuesday begins Wednesday and so you get a whole you know it's you know human's life change behavior gently a lot check it out they don't like to dive in and become of the you know of vegetarian in day one they like to take it gently so I think that's what they like this idea of you you are saying. With that because I did it sort of sporadically but more and more now it is a regular thing for me how much influences your great great grandfather's work had on the crease off think you thanks for asking absolutely massive I mean in so many different ways of course he was really he loved nature and so I love nature and and so that's why she why I get out of bed I'm trying to to stop the destruction the world's forests and I do it with you know but 74 percent of all habitat struction in the world is used by the meat industry so that so that's why I'm here and I think the other thing which is lovely about Charles is he inspires us to realize that we can change then actually change is healthy a bit of evolution so we're trying to promote a little bit of positive evolution has that sound sounds good and are you a vegetarian I eventually tearing you must be well I'm I have a base began baseline and then when I have a little little moment to weakness I write them down on a spreadsheet and keep a tally of them so for example I was getting getting up this morning and there was no so I milk in the in the fridge so I did have some normal milk on my cereal box and often. If you. Give You Anything Chris your car looks you great great grandfather vegetarian not at all there are some wild stories and we live in a different age now but those in wall stories he he he was part of a club at Cambridge which used to eat exhaust think animals and they they once they once at an owl can you believe oh now that I know it's not really. The magical as feathers getting stuck in your tail there you go. Call it loud all part of the law exactly and so I think so so anyway we come along why haven't we here we are we're all agonizing ever and there's Charlie scoffing down the aisle Yeah I wonder what your great great grandfather would say of you now doing this yeah look I I got a feeling or I just think that he had this wonderful approach that things were going to change. And he saw enormous change in his life and we're seeing even more change in our lives and actually I think it's actually really exciting Chris thanks have some lunch or you want to make a bike paddle something because I had to I didn't look you do. Yet I surely bear some actually in a taxi I know that you busted me I thought I was going to. Try to say Georgie also comes out with it it's called the Darwin Challenge App and you can do it as well if you have one meat free day a week the Darwin Challenge App You can download it from the App Store it's free and what it does is it shows you the benefits of having an occasional meat free day all right which longer you'll live because you live 45 minutes longer every meet you have 0 run I'm just thought I'm going to search for it now when is it challenge challenge. And so it's a bit of encouraging a bit of positive evolution they see if I can but oh yes get it so I'm going to get it Chris thank you. Thanks so much for you our it. Seems such a fun fun chat Yes Same here thank you so much for your time Chris Yeah no problem Chris Darwin direct descendant from Charles Darwin I know who do you a well we know now he's been on the show your vegetarian and bacon tips please I've got some actually on Twitter I'll share with you in a moment Judy spends way b.b.c. a catch up with Adam the same. Good evening in came to Tunbridge the a 21 that Tom Ridge bypass is closed southbound for accident investigation work between London Road and road that's following a series collision early in the soft to me in sorry at all the shot the Black Water Valley route the a 331 is closing tonight the right works northbound closing from the a 31 to ash road the a 3 to 3 and those start at 8 o'clock tomorrow morning at 6 am in London Golders Green Road in Golders Green is shot after a fire at a shop near to the north such as the a 46 spots any other problems to call in 130-123-0184 that's the latest on that a more. Thanks Adam and now this is for good Catherine she's tweeted the show she says advice checking gradients of seemingly veggie food some of them may have animal derived gelatin beef and animal derive Rennie's Now listen I have. The same and I checked and it was a vegetarian read it so we're all good in the hood and Tracy says just gone past 33 years mate and fish free thank you for the tweets ladies you can search for me. Tonight and tweet me to. 25. We will talk more about the good and. The show's mean free Monday everybody in this Dusty Springfield I close my eyes and count at. Just to Springfield I close my eyes encountered sandwich talking about the reemergence of the back to the bum you say it. Like I did out of one of these you don't give me a call from Sussex and I've been to every says wouldn't do without my bum bag How do one for failure is use it for practical reasons. Rather than fashion you can still rule suits in there he says emergency money batteries things you can get in you Paul Kate's quite right and Jen in Anglesey yellow jack and she says Judy do you remember those awful shell suits we all wore. Well you wouldn't go near a naked flame with each and she says I used to love mine why oh why. Should I want to know about fashion victimized as opposed to fashion. And now it's time to cross to the b.b.c. Weather Center who's in the Paul. Who is again you know it's Jay when they get. Jay When again. No way. That you are there I mentioned bum bag to you I bet you've never had a bum bag have you but you'd be wrong there oh really yeah I know the moral. Glastonbury to carry stuff around is that when you will hike to the areas without paying Yeah yeah then actually he is a go goes in Boston Yeah and shorts and. Back pocket. And thankfully the back pocket had a button on it which I'd done up yeah. And department self was covered by a slap on the tail Yeah yeah so. And even I found it difficult under the button when I was trying Yeah so I'm walking down the street and some guy put his arm around me and starts talking about football and tries to trip me over and while it's all happening I stop him is talking on my back pocket well and I turn around really quick and I couldn't even tell who it was because I was so many people there but I swore loudly and they just disappeared into the crowds and because the butt was so difficult to undo Yes my wallet was still there yet everything was still in it yeah I was fine I panicked for about 10 seconds I don't know what minute everything's fine they're going to weigh it's really hard yeah so I Well that's going to have called Yeah but the next day because I had the bum bag with me I know it's probably better to put the wallet and all the other things in the bum bag and hide and imagine they are very useful things to do all my stepdad even my oldest Dean has just been back. And I saw a photograph of her with a bum bag and I thought they were back in fashion again so we're older and it j Well I think you know this time and place for everything absolutely and time and place of the weather now I suppose. Yes indeed bit of a north across England over the next couple of days we've got some patchy rain spreading its way into northern England overnight tonight so I think somebody's going to stay dry with some clear spells and it's not particularly cold 11 to 30 degrees by the end of the night now the southern half of England through tomorrow will have a pretty decent day and I think we'll see some good spells of sunshine it'll be a woman off 70 degrees in Plymouth 80 in Newcastle $23.00 degrees in the London area and there will be a bit more cloud in more northern parts of the u.k. Northern parts of England with a little bit of light Rangers but the southern half of England stays dry with increasing amounts of sunshine I think by the evening tomorrow we'll see some light sunshine in northern England as well Wednesday looks like the big day of the week it's going to be quite a hot one for most parts of the u.k. Particularly most parts of England should I say particular southeast the southeast on Wednesday could get 2627 degrees quite warm pretty humid as well even through the Midlands are going to be $23.00 degrees and even up towards new. 20 or 21 they'll be a bit more clout in northern English times but it's about sunshine for the South and light winds as well and it really will be quite a warm afternoon the one doesn't last all that long because Wednesday night into Thursday we see a weather front moves through then there are some showers around on Thursday mainly on the western side of England and temperatures drop back a little bit still 80 degrees and so bad Thursday he's 2123 degrees in London and some showers again in the western side of England on Friday with the brightest guys further east and temperature in the range of 18 to 22 degrees so actually for many of us in particular the southeast actually very to the right to speak of by daylight hours this week and some pretty reasonable time which is to not. Mean for a Monday we're also talking about this on the show do you do a meet for a day to win the week or are you pitched a. Vegetarian for about half the day. I'm . Really good. On the b.b.c. It's a cool look at this is the tran. Do you mind if I get to tell cal skull that some snow isn't sold I'm saying b.b.c. . a lovely evening Judy just reminded me of Iran the Shia top I once wore with a white brown underneath because you couldn't get the sort of jazzy colored ones it was on the black white or hearing a beige and I've stuck with that throughout my life but I can remember this shit up in a nightclub in London and all you could see was my fluorescent bra So Julie thanks for the memory that's really what I'm for he says back in the eighty's I used to wear double breasted shirts with the top button undone so it would fall to the side shoulder length by the collar and a shark tooth earring Oh my word Humphrey he said. What a plug does agree that would have looked sharp in the eighty's my friend the reason we're talking about fashion is because yeah forget ition Alya Michael called. All of the designers have been putting a spin on a very unlikely item so actually it's a total recall the I kid you know it's the late eighty's early ninety's favorite is officially back can lead Johnson has been vintage clothes shopping in Middlesborough. I'm a name is Joe. And would you say. I appreciate the reasons behind where. Said it will want to use it about to be coming back for a while now but yeah we've been selling the past 3 or 4 years really well especially as Tommy a festival season just to go really well very handy to be part of our audience remember bombards from the 1st time in the 2nd time around from decades ago they were always kind of lost a little bit it's not been a hugely popular and you know it's a credible fashion item why why now why people are going to I think it's a mixture of things I think these numbers we have from probably the eighty's specially made eighty's when people were actually wearing them not just parts or reason for fashion reasons as well and it's kind of the type of clothes that we sell as I play eighty's early ninety's and it's the style not fit that kind of goes with it especially like I say rap as well seasons where it's way easier when you've had a few drinks to have you know come back or as Americans say funny around your waist rather than if you want when you have a few probably sell a day I think 5 pounds like the breeze in the prices it's not something you know where you know you're around it's going to be something you might my way 2 or 3 times a flash in the bum bag while I tell you all is just reminded me I had a fake design a bum bag which I used to wear on the telly because I used to have to when you might turn up it's very difficult to find where to put a microphone and ice a still my microphone pack in the back it's just pulled back a real clear memory of the late eighty's from a while Gemma Shepherd is a stylist who's What with a number of stars and on the x. Factor and she's on the line the saving Gemma shepherd the bomb bag is back. In the eighty's and very like I. Tell her you're in your life. The great be here for her. Which I always think was. Come you know the whole. Practice here well would you be recommending a bum bag for the. The of your celebrity you know client to well I mean I didn't. I mean I I never made it easy in a day when you get the Senate you know 40 pm time to see trends come by or. I mean anybody listening is that when you see a 2nd sorry. Time out it never quite I think I think this comes. From a travel and it just means that everybody is kind of with this kind of element that the for the bomb bag and as you rightly said we'd be looking design is taking heat on that and I think that that the high street and. Then tell me the ballpark has always been accessible and always been available but I think the difference is they've kind of put it back on the catwalk to say with that you will take them on a personal note do I want these above back. To Reality do I think that people kind of walk in that given a yes I'm I've always been a start as he says in a good feel good and you know your confidence is an all time high but that's about personal choice and I think that some people have got the capability to Brooke and I and it is using one of the many that is the key to any fashion a few Ellen and you look good wearing my eldest at the Rajah seen a photograph of her she's been to Barcelona and she was wearing a bomb by She's 22 I don't think I could get away with my 52. I think the big thing is is that you know I think you know if anything the Apply for coal is that he's very dependent on your kind of white you know and that is the air is the body that it carries. Background the infantry your waist isn't going to be in my flat but you can sling the legs and hang them on the hip area but get it you can then like to come Eugene you know if you're the kind of belief that you hold your bow but the reality is I think that as the old no 30 or way you say is the way stuff I. Depends on you know I find some great women I would have to waste and that way you going to be a was you know but. I'm thinking if you don't have to wear at the front you know you can wear this by. A huge cavity attached to it definitely can I just ask you Gemma Finally where do you stand on fishnets ankle soles because this I'm not sure I was wearing those it just didn't catch on I don't like them I miss them I think again I think that's about where you are I think in London it's a big hit in America it's been breaking New York and I guess again I think it's not a trend for everyone I think it's a trend what I think is slightly I guess in where we get it. And I think it's one of the I think that no everybody can do oh I don't know. If you can do it. Is that you'll fly. That's my financials not a job it's like I'm out oh oh you said just that Gemma should talk so much for you time this evening Gemma should she has done is to the stuff and she's on the way to another gig I love it yes those fishnets new you get out I'm there yet I love them the love the. Now I resolve to live a being on a really good evening George tell me about your fashion vote Paul you know not my fashion popo thankfully. My daughter's age 16 she was doing her jewelry diploma and and found her bridges for teacher too uncomfortable to wear. You know transformation opportunity here and she made mention. Decided she would you know across phases take me. Through every metal associated with them so people kind of search Oh of course every rings and then they realized oh but apparently my oh my 9 ne. Oh yeah no you know I trained healthy copy I read if you can't blame her she can't though he's good she's still got. You probably wouldn't wear nice days but you know I love lots of the fashions that she she wore a youngster coming around again including the wretched excess over there I mean good support new bits and bobs. Yeah. Oh yeah. It's lovely you fashion 5 pounds coming you know me I like to expose I'll tell you more mine in a bit this is. Gold. Leaf Coming. Saved any little miss meat free Katie but it's old she's going to be the studio momentarily she's going to be chatting to me next and taking your questions to see if you got a question about going meat free then please do 034531858 Give us a cold. B.b.c. Medicine like love grows where my Rosemary goes I'll use a tool from the frame and I resume. And so we've done the yeah well it is world free day I've got a whole day without having an animal pass my lips. And normally I would get this once once a week in that I found it quite a relief not to to have to sort of think about it and just go for something well you know some way you have to think a little bit more but you know what I've often got a load of vegetables in the the bottom of the fridge that's not it's not such a bad thing but I want to get a few more ideas for males and luckily for me Katie best go otherwise known as Little Miss meat free is a chef and an all for a 15 minute vigor I'm very glad to say she's here. Because you say you look in root health so absolutely People always say that about the Gonzo vegetarian so I was lucky as I think just like any diet has to be balance in order to be healthy but I just eat a little bit of what fans say and I hope for the best Another of it me none of it made it dairy Why did you give up on the me 10 years ago well I've been a vegetarian a lot longer I'm just growing up I haven't really got involved with eats meat it really like a puppet if he can for 10 years gosh what made you go from no meat to no dairy so I went down down south to study in London and bet and all that I just couldn't really afford to allow me to go in there so the no way this is the way and yeah I went down and realised that I have enough money to actually afford dairy and nice things like that so became vegan went found a local free market in South London all these exotic fruits and veggies to buy them and cook off pollers I used to get my housemates to do my an end and in saw Pam and I used to feed them and that's really how it started Sometimes I like it you lazy little parliament industrious in the kitchen. What do you friends and family think of this or any of them vague and yes I am my sister's vegetarian my mum and dad were big Macy says and often Tyrion for about 5 years now what is that because of you know I think it is because I cook so much and there's always plenty to go and always take it round and say and have. Some of this and it's just it's I think there's this big stigma involved with eagerness my vegetarianism anymore is for everyone it's not just you know the elite all the hippies the wild it's for everyone what how do you go. Butter free what do you substitute the butter with milk you would go for Sawyer wouldn't you or Elm and milk Yeah the supermarket shelves are full of soya coke. Macadamia not milk you name it was that long is look if you make hot chocolate test almost like they forever trying you know you are spoiling ask. A wonderful stove I want the Buster equivalent to sit on the shelves if you know big brands like vice ally like this pure it's called on the market and a lot of the what we call accidentally fake and as well so the might not be labeled fake in our marks it is fake and if you look at them that come to milk or animal products so I always look at that accidentally begun products on the market and what about when you go out for dinner have you got to be quite specific as to where you go he's got a lot over the past 10 years I would say 10 years ago yeah it might have been a bit of a struggle now you know you can go from a star restaurant style restaurant not like you get the opportunity to very often to say I'm going to. Show you a day are clearly very well not quite not like that you know most mission Sasha's have a vegan menu but also the high street chains like Pizza Express z.z.z. Ask Tobie cabaret they all have Reka menus now so you have a choice of a good options not just one on the menu stupid. I suppose you know what it felt like to the difference in your your body because you've been a vegetarian or vegan for so long well you've never eaten meat Have you ever and I think when I was when I was sort of a kid by I was never really excited by me and which would have a vegetable so. What mother wouldn't want to hear that well you know but yeah I mean people often say people often say I look which is fantastic I'm never really l So I do really well. You know it's not like I just sit and eat for you in fact every day I Juncus Well yeah Jr lying on a military. Car new name do you do you have to be quite specific about Chris because I've seen the gays are yes in his infinite wisdom he set up for you some turkey feel lunch I went I'm going meat free today and he said I will this is what I've got you some keen wild crisps of whom you sound here if it has got no came where in it sounds or if it is not something I would say How do you cook a will because it quite difficult yet no you spit length a thought like 20 minutes which is far too long for what I would spend in a 50 minute league and absolutely I like the book says Not 20 minutes the good of 50 but then I thank you again well I don't know how didn't read out psyche Well you know I don't know well yeah I know this is long as it don't contain obviously animal products like milk which some of them do contain lactose they're all stuff like that and you know different biscuit types are on the shelves they're accidently vague and yes it's easy to show you've really got a I got a little tweet earlier from kitty be good and she said you've got to watch out for . Particularly when you're shopping for the she says Come find it now what did she say whoa yes she says checking gradients of seemingly veggie food some of the may have animal derived gelatin pork and beef and animal derived rennet Yad and colors like coccinea law can mean a lot of red color and so like you read Belding Hanks you know you're right sweets a lot I'm a cult in which I question the insect story. You know in order to learn also in certain ways yes you know absolutely anything like gelatine Yeah right well we'll talk some more going to talk about your book next but I'm going to chew me if that's all right Cause we're listening while you're listening to Katie Price because she is little miss meat free talking to me spans are going Georgie tonight it's just gone past 20 past days June for the Mamas and The Papas Monday Monday. Monday here we meet free Monday Monday with Katie best go Little Miss Me Free Agent Katie Good evening chef and also a 15 minute vegan What was it like putting the book together because I love it I love the fact that it's marked paper it's not shiny I love all the pictures and I especially like you with the lovely sit up and beg by color. Did you buy that yeah I used to tell a yeah yeah I was I just you know everything that I dreamed off of the book the publishers managed to just pull off I had so much fun raisen and points gathered off the sheets and it was just a brilliant table of creative pay for the way I look at your 1st book. And you wonder under the culture 2nd one I am yet my deadline is looming Oh yes it's very That's why I look like. You look stunning and feel how do you act how today yes going to the food in their life like I was the lovely person questions actually to put to you if we can crack on this is from Emma on Twitter she says I need a brownie recipe that's not full of butter and sugar but still tastes amazing all page 114 of the new book that's the all put in Cherry mug brownies previously Yeah this is a brownie that you can make in 2 minutes in the microwave so these mock a is the microwave in the microwave Oh I love you they're full on these are these. Puttings for why you don't have to share you don't have to share would you share. Yet you just you just pop everything in a large scale together you got flour cocoa or cherry jam loads of sugar everything that's bad for you everything that you need when we crave in it whiskey altogether pop in the microwave 2 minutes you've got Browning now she says you don't want it with sugar but still to well is and yeah why would you not want sugar at a brownie the websites made you going to have to buy the brownie Emer on this one of the sugar and that's it you know and that's it we can as a people often think it's about being healthy and it's noise about make an ethical decision on what products from a yeah I like everyone we need to cut down sugar don't wait but you know if you can have it is that late and it was sugar. Terms of the no butter lovely Katy's put in sunflower oil and flour all is great and then you just bung in and chuck it in the micro for 2 minutes 2 minutes it is amazing and it rises really beautifully but you got that dense because of the cherry very dense and oh I love cherry jam. Can you ask Katie for an easy stir fry for an oldie please That's from Jeff in Oxford for an oldies the staff riser why for an old age. Just because we have a good staff rise for everyone and yeah I mean sat fries are great because you can just throw in anything you've got in they could but what would say some stock about essential staff fries is just some ginger which I like to keep in the freezer just some ginger and fresh ginger great in frozen it keeps it really well you don't waste any good and then just and so you saw So what have you got in the fridge vegetable wise whether you got some chad from the garden awesome kale lacking about what you don't want to do with it throw it all in ginger and a bit of so you saw nice always top things off with the fresh air you know just yet it's awesome coriander this little trick that I've developed you know that you've got this spiral and the thing I don't have one of those I've got a potato peeler but I peel cucumbers. And carrots with yeah to make it nice trip so I actually. Jeff outworking not really really know what it is rare in technical terms because she's a chef. Was your favorite thing to be I mean comfort food because it seems all very sort of you know roasted tomato and Rosemary sauce we've got. Bonfire apples there's all those cranberry orange granola there's all the sweet corn chowder I actually pulled it down the page on that one and yeah it's one of those ones there's no red pepper dispatcher I mean there's loads of lovely things some say noodles Karen cardamon falafel I feel lovely thank you but I was just a generic of an awful lot. But in terms of comfort food what can we do that makes it a bit you know so I'm a big fan of the mushroom n l struck in our family our actual Ocelot me Yorkshire ale so mushroom n l struck it off just it's really easy it's proper confort food at home comfort food and there's a really nice one in there that's us really popping really popular it's sweet jacket potatoes so you can sweet potatoes basically you know just cook them off in the microwave so it was some salted Lemon your go and some pomegranate seeds and some toast you know it's really easy and it's beautiful a very nice This is from Elaine she says I found out only quite recently that Rice has arsenic in it that's why you have to use lots of water and rinse and dry it off I thought it was the starch that we were draining off she says This worried me a bit because I eat white rice sticks that I cook in a source been organic brown rice spaghetti but I don't drain the water off because a lot of the flavor is lost I add prawns or call it separate to it in the saucepan I'd be grateful if you can tell me if there is arsenic in organic and processed rice I'd imagine there might be trace elements of it in but I wouldn't worry too much I think you'd have to eat a vast quantity you know like bucket loads of it at a time in order to worry about that I mean like anything you weigh I imagine it will have traces of some sort of poison in it but you know you don't eat anything in excess light out so I wouldn't worry too much Elaine I hope that's put your mind at rescue Lisa you. Taking your questions tonight on vegetarianism and being a vegan as well because this is what she said a new cookbook 50 minute vague and beautiful it looks good enough to. Know all. Bag round from simply read the 1st shade of Katy best gave me no peace or on dry it was it was a tough From thing that was in it it was and that was all about a certain comfort and I could have been I could be wrong. So that's what I'm here for Forgive me forgive me but now been the last 2 new bull who's that by it's a bank called London. They're really. Lovely music in the future to no one funnily enough we have played a bit of London Gramma before on the 1st last and everything. Loves them and it's the 1st time I was introduced them so it's really nice that they've come across the top again so we'll give a little blast of not on the ground and written Phew. You now you have written this wonderful book 50 minute very good if you're always coming round for dinner because you know clearly a desperate to cook for me what would you be serving up I want starters manes and putting please so I think what I'd do is I'd have a feast on the table ready I like really informal dining so nothing to. You can dive in everything we all share so I mean you know when you get those plates when you did your say chef so I got a minute let me let me cast you mind back to the cherry brownie for Emma we sharing not the brown a Ok but maybe the apricot genes there is an apricot chip a maple to Jane and so actually one of the class is a sage would you like a really slow cook to our one you teach people is what I said were you cooking classes in York. That's sold out until about December I think so. Really popular and one of the classes I run is such an old pick farm so it's a very rural community say and the classes have gone down like a star so really I don't think it's a big community where I'm looking for. I think it's page 100 so I'm not and I know that I know it's good it's good. For Pan to change that usually it's a sheen and a slow will be made in the oven it's clear to Jane I love to Shane I love it but I want it in 15 minutes yeah so I created this one and I said I would run. Yeah and you know I looked but I want to 50 micro if it's your hours. To watch the mains so that you may then I'll go for the sweet stuff remember peppers with salty Lemon York and that she was in a so your so you can buy that all supermarkets now and there's a wonderful ingredient called sumac that I can you can now buy in all supermarkets a lot from the Sumatra Yeah that's right yes so it's like a berry but it's been ground out dried and ground out point you could only get it Middle Eastern grocers but now you can get in all the big supermarket Funnily enough my neighbor who lives at the bottom of our garden Mrs c. Has assume actress you know I know where I'm going this berries are out yeah I need to know why it's it's almost like more if you have recently small lemonade the lemon it's almost like lemon verbena. Yeah and if you pop thought in with some red only and you get a wonderful solid the flavors just work so well together you know I want to put in what would include so I think the respirator rose and crumble. In with the Easton saw if that's page 128. And I'm just going to test you. Think she's right even with these same thing with the rose flavor I get a lot people like a rose it must be your grandma but actually the flavors the recipe in the roast you know the very related stuff in that violence from that Grandma. That's the next putting over Yeah going to absolute dream tonight thank you very much for coming thank you for your questions as well to you too and this book I know I've mentioned it a few times but it is glorious 15 minutes big and it makes me want to give up meat full stop actually that's why I look so easy not just for vague and is for anyone just answered I mean not just for lunchtime it's for life Katie thank you so much. There's been a sharp drop in the number of nurses registering to work in the u.k. Since the e.u. Referendum new figures obtained by the independent think tank the Health Foundation show just 46 joined the list in April this year compared with $1300.00 last July that's a fall of 96 percent the Department of Health says some of the changes are down to the introduction of more rigorous language testing but a nice Achiles worth from the Health Foundation doesn't agree although the language requirement changed in January of 26 stating the numbers arriving from the e.u. Held up very strongly until July and after July they've just crashed and we do need to significantly increase the numbers in training but it takes 3 years to train in the us so it's absolutely imperative that nurses in Europe who want to come and live in work in the u.k. Feel welcome and able to enter the 27 year old man has been arrested in wool saw in the West Midlands on suspicion of terrorism offenses the police say he isn't being questioned in connection with the Manchester or London Bridge attacks. Listening to Georgie tonight right across England in the Channel Islands and I think we're all maybe still catching our breath from last week's election seemingly never ending campaign culminating with a shock result and everything's still a bit up in the air yeah everything to play for but what if it's your job to not only have your finger on the pulse Bot have an opinion and a few gags up the sleeve Well joining me now is comedian Tom Walker whose alter ego is Jonathan Pollard I a shout he sware a t.v. Reporter caught on camera saying what he really thinks and it seems he's still recovering from a pari Westminster. Tin Can I go to bed now please I almost always note it off when I have that same look I can I can barely string up. Thing together and I feel quite confused as well Tim German Jeremy Corbyn just won an election while civil tenuously losing it and she just lost the election by winning it well what do we have you recovered to Walker. And were still ongoing and ongoing I mean this is giving you so much more well Jonathan pie so much mileage isn't it well it is but sometimes I want to stop. I mean obviously it's almost like I'm some source I don't know I'm clearly not very good for the world because it's seen as Johnson was born we have to have authority government. From you know it's like. Going to be my career the worst the world is doing well and so I'm I'm convinced I will be holding my all sky nuclear Armageddon has just. My tradition oh no no you see you clearly are running on fumes that in which case well I've recovered a bit over the weekend but I mean it was really actually really enjoyed the election seemed to be a focal couldn't even actually up until the polls closed it was still a foregone conclusion really but it had to pick up. All interesting by the time we actually bothered to start deciding where to put our crosses whose names but all across next to you and the how did Jonathan Pyne come into being was it just sort of you being a bit frustrated with politics all it wasn't me being for politics it was me being frustrated with being out of work act want to help. Me Out and I said some state well I have this character of my head for a while and I actually it was never meant to be about politics really it was it was just. You know I think it was really looking at the fact that we all have different personas and I think the broad cause. Highlights that more than anyone else they're on air at their office so it was really a rigidly sort of an exploration of that but one of the 1st ones I did was about Jeremy Cooper and it went really well so I thought well I'll stick to the politics for the time being and that the 3rd or 4th what I completely volley role and it seems to be that the politics is what brings people to here so you know I'm fully aware of that so I have sort of accidentally I've become a political satirist it was never the intention but I think I think by that I hope by virtue of their actions I think it gives a lot nicer touch I hope I can see a bit more both sides of every story rather than being quite the political animal that the character is so I mean I just love it and you just made me think is Hugh had would say if you're a risky thing a little bit. I have to say the inspiration for Paul is that you cheat cliff but he won't thank me for telling you no pay to fix and. Criticisms talking about about the way Kissling Yes He's just across. The way Kissling And he says something very very rude about Robert. Thing in that clip more than any other You Tube and it makes me laugh every thought that was the that was Peterson's was the inspiration Well I think that you can I be. Was he like when your videos go well I was going to say viral but they go megafauna. So I mean the to start with it was to me it was a we can trace my life so I got a text message saying what are these videos has been viewed a 1000000 times. New Day 8000000 times. And overnight I got I had a career it was it was amazing and I was I think I've been out work for so long I've always appreciated what the world destroyed made with with toy and I think I'm never complacent about I think you could stop tomorrow. But then something extraordinary happened about a year later. I thought well you get one big viral video once a lifetime I supposed and then I did something about Trump the day after trying to go elected I did a video about. Global I mean you know that that was seen by 120000000 people. You know that you gave Michael this is bizarre. I think keep happening I mean he you know the world keeps throwing fuel acid Yeah yeah and I've taken the election as an opportunity to sort of get involved you know quite I did a video that was about voter registration that didn't really really well I was ready proud of that so sometimes I couldn't I think well maybe I should use this for good. You may you know people love Tom and that is a good thing I mean you are for anybody using kind of you know not into swear words and explain it is then please if you are going to Google Jonathan by. The way because you really know prairie I mean I think he's I think he's Malcolm Tucker if I can talk Rick going to gently. But I mean he's borne out of frustration here and also and also really helps to tell the difference between his on Iran off their persona that he swears like a trooper the 2nd his producer says cops but the Mini is pretty says Action Well he's he's very well behaved and not a bad broad goals Absolutely and poor tim does take some flak you know. I mean everyone always also about him which is longsuffering. Fairly well considered voicing his you know the Boston I mean Tim is just. Just was born out of needing a device needing someone to play off because actually it's just me shouting a camera. So to me is you in a way you know I mean yeah. Sometimes so he can. Say what does that mean and then. Can explain a fairly basic political. Concept well and swear it. Was like when you set it up because this is somebody behind the camera or like you know typical of you. Really don't want to see where I still get all my. Camera. Doing But the problem is this well I mean you know. Me from out of the. Meeting I've got to sit in a toilet in front of a camera. Ok which is great and I'm actually surprised how well I deal with people coming out you know kind of a selfie of something because I think again it's another persona of Tom I suppose because normally I'd be like go away to let. You know. That. Been a few occasions where someone has to tell you right of me doing a take and it's tightly written to you wouldn't be able to tell the difference straight like you know you want to put it well I when I ask you for a selfie when I come across you you would tell me. I'm I'm very very you know if you're interrupting I'm trying to do yeah. Listen it's been lovely to see you thank you for giving me a piece of pie it's been lovely to all it's been lovely so too to a. Place to get. My say. Thank you. You. Tube you. Didn't say a. Suit. But . It's a good. Thing that So Smithsonian. It's got. To give them. 2. 100. I On the. Path. Than. Half. A gram interaction and fight love to walk it is quite rude if you have a sensitive you know around the locks then yeah. It might not be for you but you know he's very clever the way he's done it very clever indeed now messages from you about fashion accessories you're an accessory to fashion crime. Still says 1st wedding I wore a pale peach need a length dress a royal blue same length linen coat black plastic her back and black voters style hats Luckily I think only 3 pictures turned. 1st wedding now that and she would imply there was perhaps another wedding. And what were we wearing then pale peach sounds great a linen car like it does to go very nice This is from Keith he says pound bags what they're back again the other year the ladies in the shop at polls down Lacey at National Trust house in sorry renamed them posterior patches Oh yes all the better. It's better than the American fanny pack isn't it for that this bum bags or fashion accessories market through spree says my fashion nightmare the eighty's shorts what were us blokes thinking of my gold shorts was the work. And his eating habits because Chris is trying to encourage us all to go meat free for one day and one in the year so we're trying this meat free Monday Carol says I used to have a Bengal eagle owl This is because Chris mentioned that Charles Darwin His great great grandfather was part of an exotic dining club and he. Said. She tried to eat my dog and soar off the cats when he tried to sneak up on her if she hadn't been tested on a Jesse she did kill them the look on his face was a picture then they kind of wanted to try to eat her no I wouldn't either it's just it's just cruel to be honest Carol. This is Billy Joel in River of Dreams You know. When the. River of drains just go past 25 to 10 you know on the b.b.c. Listening to Georgie tonight across England and the channel is now I'm on a bit of a foodie thing today a meat free Monday is what I've come for the team setting the task and I think I've stepped up to the plate along with the cutlery. More and more of the doing the meat free the gluten free the De Vry the sugar free but can the food we really clean our bodies make us feel well well let's take a quick look at the clean eating trend now with lifestyle guru and author Alice living high now to see you now you'd never believe that you had way issues in the past but how what were you before you started clean eating. I guess I was just like everyone else raiding I I didn't really care about what I pay my how i just ate now is a typical day and I ate take away and Pete Sarah and I. Greenman you know I I guess I'd grown up with a relatively normal diet but then going away to university I had freedom whatever I wanted to write the fridge. Exactly and I really yeah I really sort of succumb to that student lifestyle like as I was songs were you about time and you're talking about a 14 Reuter Yeah although you know what dress sizes nowadays are one thing in one shop and about 2 sizes bigger or smaller in another. Sometimes it's quite encouraging and sometimes completely the opposite is the most going to make you smile something you want to go and cry exactly welcome to my world so what made you change. So I was I was a theatre school I'm I went to a place called College which is where I want to study to go into musicals and so my days were spent on like most university students at a desk I was in the studio in a leotard that was incredibly exposing and in a room full of girls I had legs up to my is. Teeny tiny. And you could eat whatever they wanted but unfortunately the same could be said for myself so my eating habits and my exercise and lack of it I guess led me to oversee again quite a bit of weight now I'm not saying that that was like the worst thing but you know I was struggling in classes in terms of I was always pretty I lacked loads of strength and I sort of course the end of my 1st year of my studies and I got my reports back and it said you know the recurring phrase was lacking strength lacking strength you know nobody said you know you've you've gained weight of course they wouldn't but I think the phrase lacking strength just kept going up and I thought to myself you know I What's so hard to get here in terms of it's really difficult to get into that schools I'm letting this opportunity slip away from me looking at you looking at photographs of you you look incredibly strong I think the phrase is ripped. So have you done it clean What do you do with an expensive town that doesn't really have a definition no one really knows exactly what it is you know when I 1st chose the name 3 years ago when I started blogging about my journey and my journey to finding health and fitness I chose it because in capsulated exactly what I wanted to do to my diet which was basically stop eating a lot of takeaways and start eating a lot more veggies and free. You know whole grains so it wasn't necessarily that I was like Right I'm going to cut these things out I just wanted to have a bit more of a healthy balanced diet so yeah I guess it chose the name it's you know it's had a lot of negative press recently and that's fine you know I completely agree you know the name I'm stuck with it was the name that I chased my blog and people now must know me by so for this book I'm going to stick with it because that's what people know me as but yeah I absolutely agree you know I've never ever believed in restriction I eat everything you know I'm not a vegetarian I don't cut out dairy I eat gluten I mean when you mention bad press with clean eating they also potentially you might be missing out on vital visions and proteins up I'll look at the recipes in your your last book and there's a lot you know there's beef in the. Chick You know I mean there's. Cashew I mean I know you've got to go nominate so I'm thinking Well actually this can't be too bad for you look I mean it's an umbrella term that has to be different things that fall underneath it so within clean eating you've got to sort of work stream into the scale of the spectrum story where you have people that you know cut out me and they don't eat dairy and they cut out gluten and they don't have this nature that I am absolutely one of those and I never have been so you know I don't feel as though I'm missing out on anything really trying to really balanced on nutrition diet Roit So every day fitness the new book who is here with the book I try to speech was many people as possible because I really believe that fitness is often seen as an ally. He to saying that the you know you have to have you have to pay for a personal trainer and you need to fork out for an expensive gym membership and I really believe that that's not the case you know I use my social media platform to hopefully speak to the people that can't afford a gym membership and that are able to afford personal trainers and I use it as a way as a medium of being able to put out information and hopefully help those that are training from home or you know their fitting in workouts around a really really busy work life balance so the book is just an extension of that and I've hopefully put in there so it split into 3 sections as well as the recipes you've got your home walkouts which is for those people that work from home which is fine and there's loads in there that they can do from the comfort of their own home that's still going to give them a really effective workout I've then got hit walk out so for those that really push for time fitting training into a short period of time that's going to be still be effective and then also I've tried to speak to those that do want to embrace the gym that might have got a gym membership and would like to approach things like weight training and possibly adding some resistance their workout you know it's so important that we stay active whatever our age activity levels need to remain a constant you know I went to the doctor's recently for a health check and she said Now we have to make sure that going into your old age. You are you are healthy and you are fit and I thought. That's really struck home with me now is the motivation there Alison I'm I'm 52 and I am overweight and it's the motivation to get out there and do it that I think that is where I thought well I often think though that that's because it's possibly seen as this thing that that's that's really hard work but actually like it it can be quite easy I think if you break it down you know you just need to move more so I'm not saying that you need to go and work on the treadmill for 30 minutes silence I'm not saying I need to go and you know sit on a bike for 5 and a half miles what I am saying is that you know if you'll find in that you're sat down for the majority of the day but Ok Will. For 10 minutes in my lunch break I'm going to go and do a walk around the block or 2 walks want to laps around the block or you know in the morning instead of getting the bus to what I'm going to try in the summer to walk that you know just you know I'm sure he's trying to take in those small Yeah it feels like a mountain that you have to climb when you're at the very start of a fitness journey and it feels almost impossible to see yourself doing these things but if you can start to just move it a bit more each day you know take each day as it comes and set yourself challenges set yourself goals so it's indigestible chunks instead of just seeming as though it's the big all encompassing thing that you need to do to to it you know ton your lifestyle around that going to fulfill really overwhelming for most people it's been a joy having you thank you so much speaking to me I'm cold way to get my hands on average I fitness back thank you very much.
