Now a British Airways flight from New York to London has broken the record for the fastest subsonic flight across the Atlantic held by our strong winds Baiae flight 112 landed at Heathrow this morning after a journey of speeds of more than 800 miles an hour which mainly winch meant it took 4 hours and 56 minutes to make the journey a new record cold. Weather well as I mentioned there is an amber weather warning in place from now until 9 o'clock this evening strong gusty winds and bands of rain right across the county today but quite mild with highs of 14 degrees. a number of very popular tunes a long long time ago including a very famous. Choosing that was used as a theme for a t.v. Program. We'll play that in just a little while but also we'll be talking about a satanic church we're talking about gambling and quite an experience that Melvin prior heard about would add not involving him but he talked to someone who'd been very much affected by gambling and also in Melbourne prior earlier this week he announced all the nominations for the Make a Difference awards if you didn't catch them at the end of the program we'll run through them all for you. On Wednesday though he and chess had simply fabulous afternoon b.b.c. Radio Lincolnshire was able to arrange a special treat for the mid-morning strictly reviewer's Grayson Rosalyn Craig Revel Horwood had invited them to the strictly live tour at the motorbike theatre in Nottingham I got to meet the celebs and dancers after the show and the girls gave a review of the show they just watched the whole show was fab even I really enjoyed Kevin's shakedowns it was epic. Dr Who was great and fair fun and. Well it was amazing they just were great to Craig was a little bit nicer today and gave some tens. I felt sad that Johannes didn't have a dance partner and he he's definitely one of my fave says I want to go up and. That's very nice that was lovely review Grace you haven't written down your review but what what would you like to just say about the whole show today how would you sort of sum it up I think it was amazing being sparked like such a special show because like I said it's the 1st time that I feel like this and it was really nice to see everyone is so inclusive see everyone get involved and it was really interesting actually because in the dances they've all really improved so that was nice as well it's like see the costumes in real life and everything and it was just all my favorite parts of the house there is really and what amazed me was how energetic Shirley was in that last round at the end yes she surely would have won from a 100 out I mean she's a fresh. Good to go the atmosphere has been very different today because the dancer was saying they wouldn't normally see the audience the lights would be down for the show but this has been a special relaxed performance so the lights have been up there been abusive pretty dancing Yeah it was really really special because I mean it can be quite intimidating I imagined. Come to something like this it is amazing Mike Bushell you've just come off the dance floor and you won for the 1st time in not the No that is incredible no one expected that certainly not Kathy and I and all the rest of the cast because every show until now had been one like Kelvin but that's that's the beauty of the of this touring show it can get a different winner every time and it was so special to win here because it's a relaxed performance the 1st time Street has ever done that and it was so amazing for us it was our favorite show by far because we could see all the faces of all the people here we could interact with them during the dancing we could see how much they were into it and said that the show really was about them and it was us joining them in their party feel like it was it was a brilliant experience I'm sure part of strictly future history to be made here in Nottingham did you realise when you signed up for strictly to be quite as energetic now is it nothing prepares you for the the full on workout that you get in training 1st of all the 1st few weeks of brutal and even wonder how you can get up in the morning but then more 12 hour days you do going into week 34 your body starts adapting and you realise you're picking things up mentally a lot quicker and you start poking me the better so actually now it does it does get easier to get tired but it's the body sort of adapt and you lose weight and you lose and the quicker you can be are you going to keep dancing I've got so yeah there's a long war yeah things are in the pipe football in tennis but this is after the best exercise I've ever done walking in a strange way to music is catchy it says and I love it so I'm going to keep doing it in some form yes the b.b.c. Sports presenter Mike Bush or scar of Strictly he did well on the t.v. Series that we both know when it but he did well he's on the tour of the moment and it was great I guess for the reviewers Grayson nozzle and to join Melbourne prior and see the performance over there in Nottingham this is approaching so it's 12 minutes past one I'm Amanda and I'm not a slave to the set of those like Natalie the dream of having a family becomes a reality but for others like Amanda it remains a dream my knees just buckled I just class on the floor us on sex drugs the love the. They'll be heartache and body parts as we talk frankly and sometimes graphically about fatalities and hear some of your story is along the way to. Some good news police officers in the Grantham area of had a whip round to raise a bit of money to give an 8 year old boy in the area. He had his Christmas and birthday money stolen and Lincolnshire police thought they'd make it up to him Sergeant Dan McCormack told us what happened so you know my colleagues p.c. Can try it on p.c. Went about they went to. This young boy's address where he had his birthday and Christmas money stolen as a result so they approached me. On the supervisor and asked about whether they could sort do a collection on the shift to get this show lots of money back and so that happened so there's been a whip around which is great very nice and and then you went to visit him and to do given the money did you yes yeah we went last night I myself went to him p.c. Concerto we were in a police car to visit a young lad and his mother is home address there and were handed over the money and if I've never seen such or even smiled in so many thank yous so polite and then he showed us around his new drum kit they got for Christmas. So yeah it was all very very good it's a very positive. Sort of the top one are much creationists enjoy it really well and did he did together around the police car as well he did he had a look around the place going to put blue lights on Wouldn't this or it's not like a little bit late but you know it's very excited you know a short journey in the police car 1015 metres down the road so you have used very excited how nice they are because you know what happened to him that would have lasted with him thread for probably remembering that that horrible thing that happened and now he's got a lovely thing to remember Yeah definitely yeah he was understandably really upset when when he came home and found money been stolen so yeah we've got to turn into a positive so hopefully now we will remember. For the right reasons you have a have a remember that member of a. Lovely story is welcome. Welcome to the air waves the police officers in Grantham glad to play that again and chanced again say thank you for that young lad they made it up from that was Sergeant Dan McCormack talking to him right. The lucky day that is fly a you've heard us talking quite a bit over the last few weeks about baby say uploaded you can upload all sorts of things you reading a story you making some observations you're writing a poem whatever anyone can do it and here's an example a song which has been uploaded from a band called the settlers who live in the Spalding area now that's a name that rings a bell not surprised the settlers have been around for years in fact it was the settlers that sung the lightning tree song was the theme to funny foot a children's t.v. Show in the 1970 s. Or Dave Smith from the band says we're still around we're still doing shows and this is what they've sent to b.b.c. Upload it's a song called I'm lookin at me phone it's a comedy song written and performed by the settlers about our obsession with mobile phones. Oh Ok not me phone on just looking at the phone. Without it on the roof without the aid on the line. Facebook Twitter Instagram what's up Google Chrome be with you enemy on just looking not me thought. Went on Will can down the street will log on see a thing. You can't see where wrong go win than a don't see where I've been really hurts the most is when I will keep to a story because that's something I was so I didn't see and the arts of conversation maybe Donahue Some said I can tell you people it's old Brady days when you can't see it but I'm laughing crying state when no you can see the tone the only it was on lookin at me funny none just looking at me funny without it I'm better at the way that out there I'm a lot of Facebook Twitter Instagram whatsapp to go cross I'll be with you in a meeting. On just again at the fire. Well you can not so tough on Facebook because nothing's face to face I can feel my shutters aligning I'm in a spiritual place the doggy just does so cute on the joke so I've been sent to hide l m f a o if you want them meant to be but they just sent me. And they said it's not an emergency just because you lost your balance I said Oh I beg to differ and Ahmad didn't help feeling but that's no good to me if I can't see mine might skew so be when he's quite be off the road I know I joined the astral plane. I was. Phil knows when I won't be. But I'll leave this mode to. Looking at the food it's looking a. Bit on. Facebook Twitter Instagram what's wrong I'll be with you in a minute. So after all these years they're still knocking out the chains as one they've recently written about. The settlers who famously recorded the lightning 3 a song that was the theme to fully folly foot's the children's t.v. Show in the 1970s. If you want to upload something you can just go to b.b.c. Don't care the u.k. And look for all the links to upload by the way you can find out more about the setlist they obviously look a bit older than they did in the seventy's but there are the settlers Dr Kay they've got a few local shows coming up. Games where Trinity Arts Center family the 20th Robinhood Theater in New York on the 28th of March on the Princess Theater in 100 Stanton if you down the south of the county and maybe a little bit nearer you on the 29th of March. And. Great old a great singer Billy Joel just the way you are. Told them. To familiar. 'd or sing. The. Song. With good. Just. Have you ever seen a u.f.o. . Last year it was reported that Boston in Lincolnshire was one of the country's u.f.o. Hot spots and we've recently heard the u.f.o. Sightings reported recorded by the aria effort to be published online for the 1st time well Nick Pope used to run the British government's u.f.o. Project he researched and investigated U.F.O.'s alien abductions crop circles and other strange phenomena. This week Melvin Pryor asked him if it was fair to say that there had been a proportionally large amount of sightings in the Lincolnshire area yes I absolutely I mean they tell me even from all parts of the u.k. And in these files the ones that have already been released on the ones that are actually To me up for release very shortly there should be some files from the Lincolnshire area in Boston I mean a very famous case actually bank in 1996. A number of r.a.s personnel saw saw a u.f.o. On to the t. And it actually turned into quite a political round because the local m.p. Was very dissatisfied with the Ministry of Defense response to that now those files have been out there but again it shows that certainly the the Boston area Lincolnshire is it's an area where there's a lot of activity and of course we don't know everything that goes on in the military I mean you obviously know more than we do but you know there will have been across there will be things flying that the general public didn't necessarily need to see the time absolutely for for many years obviously things like the stealth fighter and stealth bomber were flying before they were publicly declared and depending on which aviation experts you talk to you'll you'll hear people say that the technology runs well 1020 maybe more years ahead of of anything people will know about but again we have the Ministry of Defense when we were looking at this whether we were talking to the the already asked for or various other intelligence experts we pretty much knew what we had and where we would test flying it even if people weren't clear for the details of every last secret program but you would you would be told Look no need to dig into this one it's one of ours Yeah I do remember saying the black but plain ones at the National thinking wow that's futuristic and realizing it's been flying for about 10 or 20 is yes so even even experienced observers like pilots when they see something like that before it's been unveiled and made probably even even a pilot would think my goodness what's that and that has happened over the is what about the things that we think about on the ground crop circles those sorts of things alien abductions have you looked into anything like that we looked into it or you can run a u.f.o. Program without getting drawn into that. Crop circles I was pretty skeptical about alien abduction accounts again some of these stories are fascinating but they are just stories the thing with U.F.O.'s is that we we did have more than just the eyewitness testimony I mentioned on some occasions we'd have photos and videos but the big thing of course was radar evidence and very often what we tried to do was call a visual sightings with the right all particularly when the witnesses were r.a.f. Pilots for example and again we we had a lot of those sorts of cases and they were in these files Wow have you have a seen a u.f.o. . That was Nick Pope who used to run the British government's u.f.o. Project. Just to bring you up to date with some of the travel information we have a 153 in both directions block 2 to a fallen tree near old main road. Also the a 6 o 7 a Croxton Kerio in Leicestershire if you are heading that way we can tell you the a 6 or 7 Eastbound is blocked. Lee Road in Gainsborough this is the a 631 slow traffic. Break coming from the former at Lee Road infant school will give you more information as we get it I can tell you though if you are heading north you don't have to get the long way around how because at the moment there is nothing going across Humber Bridge close to all traffic and pedestrians Jute to the storm conditions it's not good not yet. Backstab it's murder on the dancefloor. All need to remind you just in case you've forgotten man. Obviously Valentine's Day is coming up. This week reporter Harry Paul kill went somewhere where they're very busy as a result of this so I'm. Spaulding. It's been very very busy this morning it's a bit of a hive of activity because as you said it's 7 days until Valentine's Day and it's almost the calm before the. But the lots of the taking orders in the background we've got the chopping of roses that arrived from overseas down in South America and tens of thousands of them not just a few you know it's a big business but it's a difficult one I suppose this time of year picking trends it's quite probably quite easy you need a lot of red roses for that but it's Denise perfect job to work out what's what's fashionable as far as morning. Planning how to fix I see here in front of us we've got a huge array of roses with different colors and shapes and sizes we mentioned if you can get one is almost a metre tall you've got sort of pink ones and clean ones and how do you choose what's going to do well it's just it's really difficult but you just have to try and say what everybody's looking at your constantly looking at the rest of the market as well and yeah we just fingers crossed we do the right job Yeah well I guess is that we had a call earlier for someone going oh I specifically want orange Rose Yes Definitely he's got a funeral on Monday to Joe and the custom is required over him so we can we've got to buy that in for that customer so it's specific requests often and I imagine you know maybe not this time of year because it sort of Valentine's Day and then Mother's Day and things like that but once it gets to the summer season where you're talking people doing flower displays of flower festivals and all that sort of stuff very specific requests yet I'm waiting so already we're seeing a lot of dried flowers coming through for weddings issue seems to be on the train as well the freshest the best Definitely and now it nowadays are increasingly people taking photos and putting them on social media and so it's a facile wedding thing like that so it is less of a focus on perhaps making making an entrance when you walk into a church or something smelling the flowers more about how they will look in the photograph they definitely a bad idea she don't get much say. Was nearly 7 Frazier's she say about yeah definitely about the visuals are all about the visual Yes that's interesting isn't it because you know time gone by you know people would buy a new. Set of plans and 1st thing you do is smell them and now you smell them you think well what way is a garden exactly it keeps a it does Kate they shelf life a lot longer when they're not sainted when you do get scented flowers the shelf life doesn't tend to be is that all right so it's more about how long they last to help so they're looking pretty in the corner of the room for a longer time rather than yeah definitely That's fascinating isn't it and your job being doing something like this it is your history of working like I'm from flowers and you've been working a while use it now yeah I've been in a bit in France about 12 years and just to see it I could actually go really it's absolutely brilliant to be moving Can she was the perfect place to be in flower was this well well yes folding is a historically been so well known for it even though we just saw now importing a lot of them there's obviously still the seasons of flat but it is kind of the heart of it isn't it yeah definitely it feels that Lincolnshire is the heart flower it's definitely absolutely Denise where they go so fast bowling Scott where it's a hive of activity at the week before Valentine's Day it's it's getting very busy here and pick up the lots and lots of flowers to do lots of stems to chop tens of thousands of red roses going out in the next week or so well thank you Harry Parker for that time reminder that Valentine's Day is just around the corner if you're romantic You may want to do something about it. Now let me tell you a story and this story is of a church in Lincolnshire that has a bit of a reputation the news and bolt of church in Skid Brook attracts those with a paranormal interest recent national coverage spoke of devil worshippers and animal sacrifice rituals and now the true cost of clearing up after some of these events has come to light some bolt also is looked after by the churches Conservation Trust which says it spent thousands of pounds on repairs and Halloween security Peter Clegg is from the trust you know how do reputation and that's something we have to deal with. But it's also a very beautiful church it dates back to the 13th century. And lots of later additions but just looking through the lists of things that you've had to do the various states when you've had to sort of graffiti a number of dates when you've had to source out other things it is known as the demon church and I mean this one here 2015 a bird possibly a black bird a paste have been killed and laid behind in a ray of candles you've got 2018 large pentagram fan drawn on the named floor of the church later in the reports of the paranormal events which took place in the church and then And then there's the security now just just explained on Halloween you put in extra security this place well you have to say I left because of their reputation it was. Winning on main concern is damage to the building as well as putting off a normal church as it is so we do have to have some land prices are curious on the nights around how in which again I mean it all adds up and if you look at look at all this cost over the years we were talking about 1314000 pounds that have been spent is this this church in particular one that you're having to spend a lot on. It says yes no maintenance costs for a typical church that size would probably cost around 2000 pounds a year. You know no major work to be done but not as you say when we've spent 13000 pounds at least on this Church of the past in years and it's made money that could go towards the routine maintenance of of some of our some of our other churches why has this church got the reputation that it. Has And as we said there often is often evidence of some sort of rituals being carried out of the church why is that happening here. I don't know really it seems to date back. Around to about $98.00 says when it started the slows we can tell. It To set an isolated church. In the Lincolnshire marshes and not surrounded by and in particular. Houses are all habitation apart from the other couple of arms so whether it's simply because it's in an isolated location and I don't really know it is interesting what you try and do there to try and prevent some of the problems you have actually taken some of the Dawes off you have actually removed some of the stone work so the Ron big stones that are that could possibly be used to damage other parts of the church. So I 'd always we we do need to maintain in a safe a condition know as we can obviously so this is we've had to take the sun's out and move it to another church and likewise some of the memorial stones in there had to be taken out for. Safekeeping really as though they took the historic objects and we clearly don't want those damage done is a that was pretty clear from the churches Conservation Trust talking to William Wright and the list of problems they've had in the money they've had to spend on it goes to $3.00 pages a lot of issues there just a reminder that due to the storm we've got difficulties including Humber Bridge currently closed to all traffic and pedestrians it's not just Thai sided vehicles Henry ingrates steeping told us about be $1195.00 blocked by a fallen tree at the Bella home Holgate stead bridge will spawn partially blocked by fall and branches and we understand there's a tree down on the 15 just past measuring him he throwed. Blocking it partially and traffic is building in bound towards Lincoln if you've got any more news that is worth passing on about the conditions and problems you come across then this is how you conduct this. 8000 double 65949 is the telephone number text 81 triple 3 Start your message with l. Told me that is go west they. All the nominations for the Make a difference over wards were announced to the we Kemo run through that list for you in just a couple of minutes on Tuesday's program Alvin Pryor was talking to someone who spoke very honestly about the effect gambling has had on his life this is Jason Hill from Lincoln he started a petition to ban gambling companies advertise in on social media or Melvin asked him what made him start gambling I don't really know why it was it was something kind of a bit like when you play the lottery you don't have the odd gamble say there was a sports event or you know something it was I don't know how it started it was kind of it was weird it was kind of something that I'd done and I dabble every now and then so was in the lottery is that what it was I would say it was a lottery itself but you know if there's like a sports event in Bill because of my job you speak to a lot of people you know when there's a lot of people discussing something say Grand National Yeah like Grand National or if like a football team would do well even though I don't support football it's something that you know a lot of people they go I'm going to have a bet on this or or something like that it was you know you go maybe I'll do that because they'd potentially said we had some success and made 20 quid last week by putting a bet on and you think adding on that that could be I got behind they would know so it's not something I you know I would then intentionally go or I must do this I must do that but but then it was never really seen as something I would always do and for some reason over the past couple of years maybe a bit longer I don't it was kind of during that period you kind of go dark on what you remember and you kind of turn into a different person so it's it's like a. Dr Jekyll and Hyde thing you know when you make decisions you don't always make them intentionally is where were you gambling we're going into betting offices to go is mostly on smartphone because it literally is I personally looking back at it now it's too easy to gamble on the smart phone you know you can go into say the App Store or Google Play store and you can search for a betting app and reams and reams of them come come up and you can just sign into them set up an account in a way you guard so from potentially occasional gambling How did it develop did you get to a situation where you were gambling every day I think I had one big weigh in and I think if I remember rightly karma what game it was Lincoln were doing to get playing a game and it worked loads of people customers were speaking about it with the article so I did in 1000 pounds and you know for how much of a bet I put down it was I can honestly say how much I put down trying to think how much you know you were prepared to gamble that these different stages was it 5 pounds 10 pounds or I would say I would say it would have probably been less than $100.00 which still obviously was a lot of money it is yes $100.00 pounds would have been possibly less than that but at the time it would you feel when you do that could you afford to lose $100.00 can probably not not and that's that's the scary thing about it when you look back at it is you know silly decisions and you regret doing them when you know it's only when you kind of look back at it you regret everything you've done well that's an excerpt from a much longer conversation you can hear the whole interview on b.b.c. Sound that was broadcast on Melvin's program last Tuesday by the way if you need help or support the b.b.c.
