The distinctive sound a distinctive style was that something that you created together there was loads of ego involved in that. That was there because we started that when we were little you know we just we loved writing songs we used to just listen to Prince all the time and think you know want to be like that and just used to go up into our attic studios we produced everything ourselves in the early days and make the music you know and it was very very much half and half and then least we used to argue all day and all night and then we'd get the the end result in terms of pulling teeth marked in terms of the hits did that take you by surprise almost that's what you aspire to to have you know chart it says is what any artist would like Did it change your life did it have a big influence on you it definitely changed our lives I don't know if it I kind of always thought that we were meant to do that anyway that you know there's certain things that I know I'm not meant to be fine artist because I can't paint and I know I can't plow Milou so I wouldn't be a plumber but there's I know that I'm really good at certain things in music and have a real deep passion and the knowledge for it so you know I know my stuff so I knew that that's what I needed to do we both did my sister and I and she still writes now and she's pretty successful writer in fact she's just doing the new Bridget Jones The musical absolutely fantastic completely different you know different area but now I think it did change our lives but it changed our lives for the better because we met inspiring people and we got into a position where we could then choose where we wanted to be in the industry you know because actually it's a really tough and really hard work being away from your family and traveling all the time so it's kind of nice now when I bring our record I can talk for 3 weeks and not do like a whole year what about your relationship with sisters that get tested at times yes . All the time Martin but now we're best friends lives around the corner and we don't have to talk about it because we have separate careers but equally. I love us so much and we just shared everything together would be in these would be strange environments you know like Jakarta and Indonesia and we you know be doing strange things and kind of what are we doing and we'd share all that together and we can all feel. Kind of little folk change for me and I'm going to go out next year and read scar July's album comes out in February or yeah because what's going to I obviously you've mentioned it's a sort of I guess folksy almost alternative country sort of style and feel to it where I think we would call it all Americana well so they would call it whoever they are we would call it we don't really know we just kind of really write and play little funny songs in the studio as really cute and but it as far as I know it's called ot America where is the influence there is that sort of style of music you've always enjoyed anyway and if you put in a music I don't put on electronic music you know I mean I wouldn't put on what I'm writing in my day job at all not that I don't have an appreciation for and when I want to dance I would put it on and love it but at home to play our play all that stuff and I love that stuff and it gives me goosebumps and I want to create music that makes me have a physical manifestation of joy when I hear it so when you when you are at home and you're chilling and you know actually working who do you listen to what sort of music do you enjoy at the moment I like Bonnie Prince Billy's new record which is so odd I mean Usually he just makes I think he's the godfather of American anyway but he usually makes like really kind of standard gorgeous music but this is very strange His new album so I'm enjoying that I love the new Nick Cave album that's like it's so heavy but I could only listen to 2 songs. I can only do 2 in a row because my heart's only so big chunks ever at the one of the the big successes of the last 2 or 3 years how much do we love him what a fantastic talent he is I mean working with somebody like that must be a joy to see how he's grown as an artist I loved it I love it we're so proud of Jack I mean you know he totally can do everything by himself but we when we 1st started writing together was for the hard times the Jaman when it came out in 2005 and he's on 2 of those tracks he duet with me on 2 are they. And it's been really lovely to follow him and see how he's that we go sees gigs we you know he's had 2 kids and he now lives in the country is got lovely I mean it's just lovely his life has turned out really blessed and there's a good guy you know he's such a good guy it happens to good people you because a lot of people don't realize that you know he's been around quite a while that you know there might be people have discovered him in the last 5 years or so who will be surprised to hear that you know he's he's been around and he's pretty so many albums and stuff and but I just think he's in a way you sort come of age cheese he suddenly you know you learn his chops absolutely right the search you know you write a certain amount of songs in your life and then suddenly you write the song that connects and becomes your starting point and then you get a Sister Song to that and they're brothers and they have it you know and I think he did just need to find himself as a writer as well he can write really well but I think it's really that connection you know and I think he did that I think personally that he did that with that song .
