I mean not on the serves a marketing director across both sides why has but Chris come tell us that when our business in Plymouth was doing remarkably well and we actually started to run out of capacity at Plymouth so I knew we needed to expand into a new site Leicester seems to be the absolutely perfect location obviously geographically it's in the ideal place but also that the experience and breadth of the people who work here in our industry was a big factor in our decisions move to Leicester City we had heard that there was another potato chip factory as well that we're obviously the one to watch out for how big is. So but chips is growing quite at the right to be fair in the joints so we're up 25 percent year on year this year we'll be doing about $55000000.00 in total which is quite significant putting a lot of investment into this site to keep up with demand the current number stuff the left side is about 120 but we're currently going through a major period of recruitment I think there's 6064 new positions are going to be created over the next few months OK film what do you want to be making here so on the list a site was originally a popcorn factory so it's been producing popcorn so I did also produces approach that is a compression it's product so not very very unusual So you take little bits of ingredient that might be corn or potato and essentially you squash it and then it pops into into a wonderful snacking product so some innovative new technologies on this site and later on this summer we'll be producing potato crisps or chips from the LES to site as well into the factory then I've got my head net no parole buttoned up to the neck heavy duty. Anything like right now it's go. Coming back you know on my walk OK the noise. And then. Well meaning. That we. Might make them like yeah that is one of the time flies when you come into the factory but just to recap I can feel free market we have coffee to get my golf out there were the start of the profit. To factory where the company so we bring all born in from America and Europe before you made your cogent Because told at the same time if you're going to I've been very very soon you will see the product coming out of a good job where they know what the products mean we thank you makes it moves along with the buy about I have several stages you can see it bubbling away there and of course but recently just been season does well. It's not too far away that we've come to the banking area and hit real hard to forgive me pretty quick but we're talking minutes so you could be together with we have been bring to me really 6 minutes ago so we're back in the office. And I looking at a book quantifiable was a popcorn Let's try some curst as well. About problems for you lots of flavors so what we're going to try 1st I wanted to say all of them and OK I did actually say that at one point but according to Simon knight on the moon in a loving Chris and snacks Well I mean we all relational starkers with Christmas as an example I think we have 54 percent of U.K. Households purchases on a weekly basis and popcorn as well that's certainly growing and so will my wife's trying this right the both of popcorn and Chris went down very quickly. I don't know I said tonight last night last night not before I sat down I've been in the garden I had a pint of beer on point a log or on line had a bowl of crisps and I was like This is my most. They've read time of the day I love this time of day a bowl of crisps even when you sad yeah bola Chris when your people come in rant you get the Chris was a favorite flavor of Chris. Tonight and might be a bit boring there by a lot playing crisps. Well to be fair you drown in homos by the sounds of it so actually I should have asked you what your favorite flavor Homa says to drown you Christian you make me sound posh homeless is just something I found in the fridge I was fridge raided and I found and I thought it could be a Christian this I'm sure yeah plain question is well the most perfect question for Chris but we have got a crisp Oh yeah yeah it's not a crisp but I honestly I love a crisp chemical release has a bit more exciting in. The Salty though not really nice and not like she's an onion song vinegar salting was raised. In a boat say with a big dip on them all just in a bowl and I love a crisp there are always crisp Damon right and I'm so proud that we've got the cape a we've got walkers we've got we all the crisp capital of the U.K. Are now even on a crisp for 4 months yeah across the form shocking that is terrible I mean it wasn't intentional it just sort of happened but for a little break it this morning you know you've made me quite sad with that so I think we are going to have a taste right there are some Wade and wonderful flavors that we've got to try you hear a little bit later on how Sam Harper gets on as well when he asks the people of Leicester if they can well tell between different flavors of cress menu some we're going to have a CHRIS BATH All right OK we'll get producer Matt in he can be the referee or every can sorta Al mean you know when I've crossed paths I will say who King at the most played is right and they're a bit more unusual I've been told you know write your own for a gin into B.B.C. Radio less than with 80 and 11 minutes past 7 B.B.C. Radio last. Radio less than 80 and you before we get to the crisp off the senior Labor figures have expressed anger and alarm at claims that some of Jeremy Corbin's closest allies tried to insufficient in disciplinary processes involving allegations of Semitism and B.B.C. Panorama investigation broadcast last night head from a number of former officials he was in the party's dispute seen in the program Don Hogan who was an investigations officer in labor and so last J. Radio Les there with Adrian some quarter of past 7 have a flick through some of the newspapers this morning some air and something that caught my eye is Master Chef Celebrity Master Chef Oh yeah now I love Mass which I love cooking I'm one of these really annoying people that on Instagram or Twitter or Facebook or take a snap on Monday and I'll post does it taste any good look good what do you think it tastes and it will taste any good because it takes a taste great yet you know are you saying are you a cook taste like a 1000 years advance and what's the signature dish with this on board about because I've got some friends coming out for dinner tonight I don't know what to call what you go to cook and result I make a mean result I make a great chick chick. B.B.C. Radio. But next morning. Millions of pounds of cash is coming to Leicester to give a look at boost to the space industry right here to be exact 14000000 pounds were given to a space park in Leicester which is on the land near to the International Space Center Ice money is going to be used for research in space engineering and it's going to be led by the University of Leicester Dr Susie is a scientist in Leicester who is what with NASA I'm really excited to see the nice That's neat because it's going to enable us to develop a whole raft of new technologies is going to enable lots of different players to enter the space industry and retain the science that we can say I'm excited for my scientific perspective but I'm also really excited for our students because as undergraduates begin to get the opportunity to engage with the space industry astronauts when they go into space a lot of them are involved in in science experiments so anything that helps give me experience with them hardware related to the space industry is going to be really helpful as proper X.I. And his new you know the reason to be proud of Les the professor in glass beef. When the university told Martin Ballard on Dr how this money will be used and what it means for space research in the city this is government putting nearly 14000000 pounds of new money into leverage another 50000000 potent money to help us take space park Lester to the next stage and that'll get us to a point where we managed to Rian one to 5000000 over 3 years to really transform the last economy and make a reality of the notion of space city Leicester the timescale is just over 12 months so I think when the space park actually will open what will we see what facility will there be there what sort of production are we talking about what we're mainly talking about research and innovation we're mainly talking about business or Sting's So we'll see a new earth observation streets who I thought was a vision is how we use space data to better understand what's happening in Planet Earth and deliver services and environment and traffic management a whole range of other things will also move a lot of our space engineering space manufacturing technology in there and will bring in a host of industry partners as well as a range of high growth very exciting Lester Leicestershire and East Midlands based companies we'll see fantastic satellite engineering satellite technology facilities we really want to be able to open this up so that the public actually go and see the wonderful experience of a national space center where they look at the past in space can come and see modern cutting edge satellite technology under construction and of course the knock on effect from the space exploration and research of the past 50 years or so has reached our everyday lives in terms of everything from for oil in the kitchen to mark a wave of NS and these applications and services will also support a variety of sectors beyond space where they absolutely so I've already mentioned environment so we work with a couple of companies. That would be partly locating in a new space part of the air quality monitoring here in Leicester we use easier quality monitors to look at quality in the streets a particular moment in a Busey's with satellite technology beaming in a number it improves our air quality it improves our health we see this in the forestry sector here in the U.K. But also as far away as sub-Saharan Africa and we see a lot of medical technology particularly around scanning and imaging technology we have a particularly interesting exciting spinout around Cancer Care So Space Science is very exciting it's very difficult very extreme environments but it does mean that got a whole range of done she opportunities and I think the real real strength of the Britons is our advanced manufacturing our high technology manufacturing skill base that's why companies want to come here and of course you know in terms of satellite production conception design and so on you know satellites a so instrumental in pretty much everything we do now in the 21st century this is a really important thing to move forward with as well isn't it really is and the U.K. Has a huge opportunity to capture this this new world of the cost satellite technology of course Martin Ballard back with you from for massive investment in less stuff a little bit later on we're going to be speaking to a real life space engineer yeah you're going to find out what it means to him more about his job and the unusual route that Nick from ship shed go into to make sure that he became a space engineer that coming up fully a little bit later on in the show it's 723 less he was having on the rights of Sharon Sadly no 45 from his shows place in the city expect some delays of those robots on London Road between ground the road and waterway through the small warning and a warning for the saving from 7 pm London ride will be close outbound from Waterloo . Way that's true until the early hours of tomorrow morning so for now we'll have more for you ain't 20 minutes. And. It looks like there is an almighty wind cloud rolling in across last the rich day this is it going to get wet today yeah there's a few chances potentially of seeing some outbreaks of rain some showers potentially through today but there's also a strong chance it will see some dry conditions with that cloud about but also some brighter spells gradually emerging as we head towards the softer noon so not too bad I don't think you go through Thursday just watch out for a shower if you are out and about through today still going to be feeling warm still quite humid temperatures could get up to 22 overnight it will continue to feel fairly mucky and quite mild as well as we see some relatively dry conditions temperatures down to 13 degrees Celsius so through tomorrow starts the day still feeling fairly humid although it will begin to feel a little bit fresh as we head towards this weekend should stay large sheet dry with a few sunny intervals through Friday and it's a similar story 2 for Saturday and Sunday more sunshine expected across this weekend just watch out potentially for some rain on Saturday often e Thanks Rich got it on and so offensive now is the time of year one of weather from when the sun is out people are spending more time in their gardens or in the park but this time of year you also head this common sound. I mean the other girls are that we girl resonate with right the question is how do you know that if you've got a fever or a code to be in a god is a clinical pharmacist from less start and she's with us now to help dispel the myth I don't have enough so how can people tell the difference between hay fever and occult So it is difficult to tell the difference between the 2 however there are some major differences. So. Some of the common traits between the 2 is sneezing runny nose congestion and it should also throat so you get those with pay for them however there are some key differences so with a coat you can get symptoms like coughing sweating and fever so some of the fact is that you can look out for. With hay fever symptoms. They actually go on for quite a period of time whereas with a cold it last one or 2 weeks so that's how you can tell. Other things that you might notice is that your symptoms might change so with with a coat you can get my old symptoms and then they can worsen and then get better whereas with allergies they are consistent and persist for a long period of time also the symptoms can be different with each of them so with colds you usually experience all the same terms as separate symptoms so you might get a sore throat starts off a sore throat which then can you know then you can have a runny nose and then the cold starts whereas with the allergies all the symptoms come all the monger. And also other things that you can look out for is if you travel to different areas you might go into an area where this a lot of pollen and then if you move away and your symptoms go away then it's likely to be a cold whereas if it you know if you're in the pollen area and you know. You symptoms are likely to carry on as they are and one of the other key factors is your mucus you need so discharge so the very different so in a cold they're more thick green and yellow in color whereas when an allergy they're quite clear and the thinner in consistency So look it's not as what you say yes right so if you snore is clear then you've probably got a fever that's right and if it's greening go away then you've probably got a cold that's right to be honest you never thought after paid so much attention so must not you know it's been long enough but hey I feel like I thought everything that you said I think is probably going to stick with me is look at us not see if you go from a pollen area to a non pollinate area and see how long they last for Iraq to make a pharmacist Yeah could I not know Ali I mean not with you what would your advice be then if you've got hay fever or if you've got a cold my advice would be using your local pharmacy because you've got qualified pharmacists there who can give advice and you can get the treatment that you need to over the counter there are LOTS of a vote counter medicines available and actually you can you know look at treating the symptoms it doesn't mean that your symptoms will you know. Helping with symptom relief rather than because because a cold is. Virus causes a cold so you know it's not making it any shorter but it's helping with the symptoms What's the reason behind get a cold in some of the well it's a myth that colds happen only in the winter cold can happen or year round but colds come you know confused with hay fever symptoms and this is why people think colds to happen in the summer but they are common so what's it like for you as a pharmacist when you've got someone who you think maybe as they just got a fever the hay fever surrender sport they've got hay fever and are convinced that they've got a cold if you've been in that situation all the time and what common What do you say well you know we give this advice on you know this is the difference between the 2 and this is how you can treat them so treating colds is different to treating hay fever so you know treating the symptoms really did you know that's really helpful keep it in phone look it's not brilliant never thought that would be the way you could tell us really really helpful thank you so much you know I think some in there because my wife is just physio and she likes me because it's not as well and things like that you can tell a lot about it's not only fled to they have it who are from. This is more in tune into B.B.C. Radio with 80 and some may or the time now is half past 7. Radio and last. You know we have critics being critics and they need to do that that's their job so let them be a bouncer obviously being a ball bowled not someone that stands outside of a club looking at cricket closer to home Leicestershire head coach Paul Nixon says aside a massively disappointed with their defeat against Durham in the County Championship yesterday the foxes bowled really well in the 1st innings the sloppy bowling in the visit his 2nd innings lost in the game by a 119 runs Nixon says that's the story of their season so far you know we came out and bowl beautifully call everything. Possible in position 1170 on the 1st innings on a decent pitch don't post. Well in the middle order we got into them but we should have capitalized on and that's been a little bit the story where we've been so far this year we've gotten so many great positions and just let it slip or just not quite go over the line to share a back in action when they travel to face Gloucestershire on Monday you can hear football wobble commentary on the B.B.C. B.B.C. Radio. Now we've been chatting about Crist's a lot this morning earlier on we sent Bridget Blatz a bit snacks in Leicester to find out why they moved to the city a couple of years ago but the real question is how well do we in Leicestershire actually know Crisp's we sent some Harper to find out and by the strangest flavor crisps he could find with all those to be proud of unless the church has less to set a King Richard the 3rd and also something that often doesn't get a look at something I reckon powers the nation every single day the Chris because we've been sold to been a conflict of Gary's favorites they're calling them to me we are the crisp capital was. Because cutting fresh births K.P.C. Not just a few the Chris makers because Leicestershire that hired So today I popped into the city to find out how well we know all Christmas 1st of all to the shops and buy stuff. All right I'm just out of the supermarket I've purchased 3 flavors of crisps of put them in some Jeffrey bags 1st bank contains your classic ready Salt said 2nd bag cheese and surely 3rd ones of the big test was to source but see how well we know all Chris. And I kind of pots here all Chris contestant. So here's your 1st one. Ready So if you 100 percent sure yeah actually mom my. Other job is already south but. Their pain so your final answer correct your 2nd chorus. Something like time to go pick it up a bit spice a little cheese and chill a. Bush finish and move nice 700. And the fun of Christe. Something harmless just so you got impressive cars. What's the source correct going to be 3 out of 3 you are winners today John about how wonderful your prize is one of these bags would you like one and I thank you all right so that's holding a dinner outside of most. Of the public and while they know that crisps I think we need to find the next bus so going to pop into a cast now and see whether they can work out what flavors are. The names may go on from homemade a coffee in juice bar unless the jerk can you know you Christmas go I would want to think so but you never know about it for now we are this is your 1st flavor to test . The station ready soldier yes already solved that stuff easy this is your 2nd. Time No cheese and chili cheese and chili Yeah it's all in Chile all right you're fine no one's This is the big test I think. Was the source close to correct you know his Christmas all right taste test so finished I'm left with a carrier bag full of 3 huge bags of Christe So I mean a big reason not to finish them on it. I mean funds has stick that isn't it really go out in Celeste see what if people can tell what flavor the various Crist saw absolutely bang in on a date well on a crisp on time on a do you think you Chris Quanah says Oh that's a good one. I really really long love about a quest a genuinely genuinely thing is one the best feelings feeling after having 2 points of being on a Friday night lead we think is good in the world have a ball across everything is well in my love it disappointed with your favorite flavor though I genuinely on a human think it's boring but it is the home Bowl ready salted crisp the home plain crisp all the options out there you've gone with ready so all the options all the riots you know that you can crumble up on top of pasta bikes as well yes you can there is the good for the political debate gave it what was your favorite flavor that. Well that's a princess choice for BLAIR We know it's a no no it's not it's vegetables that are turned into Christmas is imaginative it's fantastic it's colorful great in nachos as well if you turn those into not just. Invites out in not having that you're not looking for a speech and into B.B.C. Radio Leicester with 80 and so May 20 minutes to 8 is the time now England have gone a massive much like because they were taking Australia in the World Cup semifinals edge distant in the Cricket World Cup Now this is an age old rivalry of course and there is a lot at stake if England win it it with their 1st well Cup final when he said The year is so how's the prospect of the game being viewed down under On the other side of the world the B.B.C.'s reporter Phil Mercer is in Sydney Good morning to you Phil was it good evening or good afternoon whatever is all maybe on a good day come on Phil the Aussies there pleaded with the fans not to boost Mithya WARNER So what could it work in their favor. I think when you look at the runs coming off the bat of David Warner he is one of those 3 Australian players banned for their part in the rather pantomime attempt to scuff up the ball with a strip of sand paper in front of a bank of T.V. Cameras in South Africa last year he has been one of the stars Davy Warner of the World Cup so far 638 runs to his name and it seems clear that he's either blocking out all of those geas or using them to fuel his motivation so he's a very pug nation character he's not everyone's cup of tea but I would imagine that all the boos that have been directed against Dave Warner he's channeled them into the aggressive batting that has brought him a ton of runs so far in the tournament so they're the bad boys of cricket that's going to spur them on if the England fans do boo them but let's be honest about if the favorite to win because I genuinely couldn't call this one. Well some book is Have England as slight favorite so you can see why England do like playing at Edge best in their record there is a lot better than Australia I think Australia would far to prefer to have played a semifinal at Old Trafford but of course a defeat in the final group game against a group stage against South Africa means that it is this blockbuster edge Briston between England and Australia and I think the Australians will look at themselves as underdogs the Aussies always like to favor the underdogs because they believe it takes the pressure off them but if you look at their bowling attack they have the tournament's leading wicket takers so far Mitchell Starc so the bookies may have England as slight favorites but many Australian fans will have a sneaking feeling that this game could be very very close well rounded up about it over a no we're all kind of really up for it what's the atmosphere like over in Australia . Well the time difference is always the curse when it comes to these big international tournament spirit in in America or Europe or the United Kingdom in Sydney for example the game at Edge Boston will start at 7 30 in the evening so certainly the 1st innings is on a pretty good time if you a favor a marathon and want to go all the way through it means getting to bed at a pretty unholy hour it's a little better in Western Australia many ex-pats British ex-pats would live in Perth the game starts over there at 5 30 in the evening tea time so pretty good over there but many Australian fans will be licking their lips at the prospect of seeing England play Australia and a big thing for Australian fans here the game is on free to air T.V. So that's not a barrier that it is see in other parts of course this finally felt he was going to ask you about the huge upset the huge shock yesterday New Zealand obviously beat in India by 18 runs it of thought that surely this is a mouthwatering prospect for both teams surely by thing then Australia would fancy their chances against the Kiwis in the final. Well I think India may well have said the same that they'd far prefer to have played New Zealand in their semifinal but as Kane Williamson the Kiwi Captain proved that anyone who underestimates this Kiwi side does so there peril Australia is home to many many migrants from India the Indians and the Chinese are the 2 biggest groups of migrants coming into Australia so many ex-pat Indian fans would be sharing the disappointment of Indian supporters right around the world but many Australian founds would no doubt be hoping for an all antipodean final New Zealand upset seeing India in the semifinal and Australia hoping that they can pull one over the hosts and play New Zealand in the final at the weekend while I can't wait thank you Phil obviously now with a beer and a bowl of crisps favorite favorite Chris flavors are coming through already the guy on the tax if you want to know your favorite flavor that is fine I'm happy with that 101 I for one it's not meant to go all you can text is on one trouble 3 start new message with the word Let's stop it some 45 let's see what's happening on the roads with Sharon by start looking to bat around the city at the moment but expect delays through the road. Between ground the road and Waterloo way throughout this morning and of course that warning for the saving from 7 pm London Road will be closed outbound from Waterloo way through until the early hours of Friday morning so for now we'll have more for you in 20 minutes. Through and I do remember my approval on her staff say the children have grown in confidence while giving their friends something positive to look forward to residents in general will become more lucid and calm when the children arrive when the children of their it gives them hope curse on their self then for a moment and the mind should just accept but the project which is being funded by the National Lottery has been running for the last 18 months what we've done here is absolutely not rocket science it's back to basics it's generations coming together eating together being together and all of that has that knock on benefit of confidence and wellbeing giving purpose it's what we should be doing why have you gone 00000000. It's hopes the friendships forged here will continue into the Future Hope says she'll never stop visiting Jean that's so lovely actually mystery is from the Food for Life team and joins us now hyrax as a how why do you think this works this works because bringing people together. You know naturally us our life cycles are the older people and I'm talking frail older people normally they'd be around their young grandchildren or great grandchildren supporting them and caring for them and that interaction between the generations. For us predominantly driven through food makes a huge impact on the pace of life giving each other time giving each other purpose which then what we've learned really creates those meaningful and purposeful connections What's it been like for you watching those relationships for. To be honest it's been really moving I mean I'm a man is the program across Leicestershire to connect children with food and this project came from National Lottery funding to bring people together through food to our primary aim was to improve health and wellbeing will health predominately through food and drinking better but for me it was those goosebump moments when we sat there and listened to all the care homes that we were working with says about 15 in total to realize oh my goodness it's really making a difference not just through food but you know these connections that the and friendships that the residents have formed with children both in early years and in schools and how it's having an impact on their wellbeing so you know the nurseries will tell us we can wait when they would see the children I mean the residents they would they would be looking better that the take rate of pride in their appearance their behavior has changed they are much more karma much more lucid they're eating better they've taken on that role of nurturing. Not just as a parent or a grandparent just on a human level and then actually to learn more and most recently that some of the residents or many of these have residents have advanced levels of dementia and you know some people could be a bit nervous about that and what we found was that their short term memory recall so things that they had done with the children over the past few months they were actually remembering all of those moments give you well for me that's their spot moments that it's working and it's really powerful it's really important and that they're actually remembering like he said their experiences with the children why do you think that stuck with them I think because it's it's the connection between the relationships that they are forming so these a really strong friendships I mean as you heard with hope and Jane Jane is 96 Hope is for that's a relevant they they just have this wonderful bond that that makes it powerful it gets you quite emotional doesn't it what is it like the you seeing that friendship between a 94 year old and a 4 year old or. At the outset it was it was amazing because you think. We don't normally say that so some of our nurseries would say you know the children don't tend to interact with old older people and so but then after time actually it makes sense it comes back to what I was saying around you know our cycles of life which you have if older people are living with us in our homes and we were living together as generations lived together then actually they would be around those smaller children that would be normal and the fact that we're just bringing it back again it's nothing it's not new it's bringing back quite traditional values and seeing actually the the benefits of that so it's really it's for me it's amazing to see that natural. Pattern of life being brought back we focused a fair bit on those with dementia but what do you think the children get out of it so that the children so as I said we've been working with 15 care settings and earlier clusters they their personal social and emotional development has absolutely rocketed so another care setting that we've teamed together is new white cliff care home is a Vista home in Leicester City teamed with bright B.'s nursery now the nursery brought together 7 children that hadn't had any interaction with older people in their life so they monitored their Because this was part of a funded project that was evaluated so they monitored the children age 7 of them age about $54.00 or 5 to see what their personal social emotional development that change absolutely rocketed so their normal development level say if it was about describing a graph say 30 percent it was a bit about 8080 degrees on a graph it was absolutely made such a transformational difference to their confidence and particularly to their levels of empathy so they'll have mean they have residence that have Parkinson's or you know as well as dementia and that. When they pass them you know when they interact with them they're there they caught there they carefully put things in their hands make sure that they've got them whether that's a bit of play dough a bit of toast you know it's it's really brought the children out themselves but actually you know you've developed these beautiful friendships what happens when the children leave the nurseries that so so yesterday. Was was as as part of the end of the academic year it was a sort of a nice get together those children now have formed such strong bonds that many of them have bring back their families many of them. You know they give they send postcards so there's like I said there's a there's a really strong connection that's being built in addition to that the settings are building those sustainable links with each other so that the children can come back they can continue that the older people always get that interaction which is transformation which is brilliant because a lot of these projects when you have funding periods and they come to an end you would hope that they would continue but all of the settings of such as we've seen so much benefit of this we're going to carry on and it's great that the families of the children are coming back to visit their new friends and my final question for you how does it feel to it says see your projects some like an incubator has now expanded beyond its initial realm where you know the families and I'll get involved as well and it's going beyond them when they're leaving nursery because I feel for you Oh it's it's it's amazing it's as I said there's so many goosebumps has on the back you next ending up because you just think wow it's amazing some really plays a lot this will continue because we've got more funding from big lottery to carry on through food for life get togethers Russia thank you so much for your time this morning Russian history on B.B.C.
