I and 5 focusing with Costello on balance once again after a weekend when Daniel Dubois turned what just about everyone was calling a 5050 fight Steve into a promising the I know you can go on beat somebody had no idea at the O 2 it was vicious it was brutal it was simple at times it was nasty it was chilling in the end and now Dubois it just $21.00 and looking like he's only 21 is here we'll also hear from Tyson Fury talking about the significance or otherwise of winning the British heavyweight title as he did back in 2011 and also from Delhi and Wyatt ahead of his fight against the dangerous Colombian Osca Rebus That's coming up also at the O 2 Arena next Saturday evening but Daniel Dubois against Nathan go home and stay for the vacant British heavyweight title pretty much hidden away in a crazy weekend of sport a brilliant finish with a copy book Double jap the 2nd of them that really set up the I am right that landed high on the head of Goldman and Goldman to complain to the referee but it was a good stoppage and a good finish it was good stoppage and a good finish and I would say that the ball is the most exciting 21 year old heavy white in the world I mean I don't think that's up for dispute because they're all really there's not a great big list I would say one of the most exciting 21 year old boxing prospects in the world I said that on Saturday I don't know enough to know there's no there's no fear of contradiction someone might tell you about a super featherweight for Mexico and you know I'll listen on. Put him in the hat but do both at the altar they were pressured in some way but what there is an endless list of names that he could actually fight slightly jaded heavy white names are still think there's 18 months 2 years free or 4 fights before you for your half the fro you mean we know and fry I mean where does that expression even come into it if one of the keeps winning if Drury's Joshua fury keep winning in that top every weight thing of Delia Why would talk about in a minute get Cs crack the new book and just tread water behind those guys for 2 a free fights or to a for a 2 year cycle he has to in my opinion I want to go back as well Steve to the British heavyweight scenes they have the top 10 and this is in no particular order . But Tyson Fury Anthony Joshua Daley and white who are going to hear from shortly Joe Joyce Daniel to Nathan Coleman Derek his aura Huey fury David Price and Dave Allen they can't ever of being a British top 10 lie that I was still waiting for word on Tyson firies next now seeing on the rematch between Anthony Joshua and Andy Ruiz of course fury was ringside at the weekend and I went backstage to talk to him about the British heavyweight title which he won for the 1st time back in 2011 of course and to talk about how he's feeling generally one month on from his win against Tom Schwartz and how he is mentally and physically I've been training every day. Mostly twice a day as you can say men still in fantastic shape. And I've been on top of this mental health Torrone U.K. It's been absolutely Shands ational. You won't believe the amount of people of Melbourne all over the United Kingdom on Walt some people flying in from Korea Texas all of them are couldn't believe it Canada or Australia or America or all over could not believe what I'm seeing. It really does humble me to. Put. Able to come over to me and say you saved me son's life he saved me daughter's life all he said the wife's life and this is an amazing feeling which is much bigger than any sporting contest that I could ever be involved in because now I know why I have been brought back to the pinnacle again because I watched while the fight time and time again around 12 happens boom I say not money get knocked out in the ring out Colt put he was Rose to east feet for a purpose I didn't want to purpose was at the time now I know and it's to put out that the reaching hand of help. Because not always people will be so eager to go see doctors or whatever all they might be more warm to come speak to me so me going to the shows I'm talking to are going to be able 500000 people. It goes on and they tell their friends O.C. That's up and blah blah blah blah from this. So calmly you want believe the amount of people who run them we turned out to be I was all said let's us from all over the world will come to the shows fails amazing better fail in the way in all employed as a whole to my life 10 times over because it's not only a sport I'm helping for the gold of the people which makes me feel very good inside and if there's a day when you don't feel like you want to get to that in there's that kind of reaction drag you to that you it builds bought you know I force myself to get up in the morning and go training that's my medicine you know people involved mental health problems need medication whatever salt is my medication is training. As long as a train sets off an endorphin in the brain chemical reaction and you feel good for the day what about their reaction to that debut in the latest phase of your career how do you think it went down from from what you're you're getting in terms of social media and people around you Bob Arum and the rest what do you get in terms of the feedback how it's gone down sensational. It was a great great fight and you know there's been received very very well messages from from the motors and things and people who are involved in the game saying it was a great show in every fin it could have went better let's put it that way I did entertaining. I got the way in Patna great show in Las Vegas which ticked off my book at least wanted to walk out was Apollo Creed. A lot of people said to me Don't do that because Apollo Creed died in the movie but I wanted to pop out right. Even the great Sylvester Stallone said about it like you can't believe someone's actually bringing it back to life in his later so that was that was good as well and then you went down really well it was a great event. And G.M. Vegas. Great stuff you know. Which one of them to win and not to own that was it. And we left last 5 years with you Baron telling us late September early October for the next outing anything firm in the diary Well I'm looking after. New York that's what I'm being told. I'm being told Feb 22nd very much while they say they don't want me to tell you this because I think they want to announce it 1st Walter I'm going to tell you anyway because that's what I do. And here tonight watching Nathan Goldman and Daniel Dubois for the heavyweight title yet a lot of people have spoken about how early for both of them. Their riches story in your. Own 1st time around and 2011 so I don't know whether it's the heavyweight division but I suppose there's a danger you go stale you if you don't present it we challenge you know I've always said build the fighters but more probably both. Front likes to do this a portrait already gets me when I was only 22 years old and it's no different this time the both. Whoever wins will win how significant as a springboard was that for you the 1st time again G.'s or it wasn't really a significant springboard to be. Because of where you were in your last 22 years old I was a birch and come champion I was right in the top 10 for a long time I didn't get title shop till 5 years later and 3 want to eliminate his later so all he did was make it very hard for me to get up while title shot because then you are 22 year old beat a man who was in his prime at 27 who was really high rated in the Walt. Made out of foam very elegant. LOS when I got here a pain talking shot last one in a fight with David Haye last that he went to go well title shot. And he had 5 wins on the spend a rematch many thought it was going to be meeting and obviously you know up and so sometimes with losing fights makes it easier to get the bigger fights and if you must it you've worked with night and go home and. Done you do you have to go to an insight Yeah both guys. Daniel won I was 26 stone when I was in the gym. And I came to the gym in Bolton. At the time. And I jumped 10 and. Nathan as well at the training camp in. The boat. There's a massive gulf in difference in Premiership and 3rd division you know he's a young lads and I'm a mom who's very experienced and of top of the game. So I can't really say. He did this battery despair because it's really unfair to judge a young dog against someone who's at the top of their sport to not play and if it makes sense part of the both good lobster both for bait lots and over my career a long career and I've seen a lot of heavyweight prospects communal. Making people who are highly touted more than them to pull together not all busy the time do people who are supposed to do stuff in the sport and don't paint coming champions. Tonight one of them is going to become a champion for the 1st time in a curious the loser well off to regroup and go back children board and try and regain stardom Tyson Fury Steve ready to talk at the weekend and again I thought just his general demeanor walking around at ringside suggested he's still in a good place and he'll be in a good place as long as he keeps on taking the medication and as he said the medication is going to the gym and get him ready for a fight and Mike we've been saying that for 18 months you know young Ben Davison has been Santa for longer than that fucking get him in the gym if I can get him happy I'm going to give you a great heavyweight you know forget the white forget the absence from the ring you know if he's happy he's a danger and he's happy at the moment he's a danger and with fury might we had this when we went to his house in Las Vegas when he's good he's not good he's not very good he's brilliant these exceptional and there were a few little snippets in there legit been in a different environment the other day you been had it been a night night that night Lucky was in Las Vegas and had been sitting around surrounded by friends or out by a pool with the critics in the background somewhere in the Nevada desert then you would have got something even better than that the other night as it was there were some nuggets in their minds of absolute nuggets in their. On the subject of heavyweights another e-mail from John Gilbert he says You often speak about this being the year of the heavyweights with the 3 obvious protagonist taking the headlines or more recently a mention of the younger British prospects such as Goldman and Dubois However I wish you could spend more time discussing one of the best heavyweights globally that's being totally overlooked by most and that is daily and white Well next weekend White could make yet another statement in every way division he takes on the dangerous Colombian Oscar reverse back at the O 2 Arena where we were just a couple of days ago Rivers last time out stopped Bryant Jennings who we saw on Saturday night that was in the 12th and final round of the contest in January Jennings was ahead on one of the judges' scorecards reverse unbeaten in 26 fights I went up to laughter last week Steve to see Daly and white in a public workout and he spoke to various members of the media afterwards and when I got to talk to him we got to looking back over his career and he was telling me about how what he's experiences have told him about professional boxing and how they've compared to what he expected going into the sport in 2011 when he 1st saw a solid. Sport and seen joining the north can be rough I in Id be curable. So I just did have a fight and I think one time up for free or for those in one month away I was 5 No I 10 for some one year you know where no you get is the you get older wiser get hold of us getting bigger so the business does come into it you know so. Of learn to accept both for what they are you know it's a difficult thing to do I turn to the young guys my age in a way because sometimes they churn do too much it is too much attention to them Well you know with experience you learn and you accept things what they are so mean you could change this chair make it beneficial for years if the. First time I spoke to you seems to be George will be mine. Ways to make me sick to see coming up told . I did a spoken to be under is by with the president what's easy for good for as you would lose everyone gets put in a come to some point everyone you know everyone think even agrees and work them over daily figure Robinson all these guys a lot almost at some point you know because if he would lose you take a real close guys are going to win all of that the entire world is undefeated because the East for nobody do one decent there but the theory says we should beat him. You know so it was cool to show. Been an active for 2 years 40 years old came in stones or whatever they came in here for in their let's have your one do a point to lose because those guys know where they were. You know and they know he's on a shelf and a reason. If I lose or to begin a rematch was there was a point and. If I don't with Brazil. In a fight a limited pool Brazilian carries the water. What's a joke. As frustrating as it speed for you to feel this is a special here. It could be it could be but the guys at the stuff I mean you know they're happy. Even involving yourself outside of the title contention you're going to use your times to judgment against fury against one of them I think in time they might start talking about it maybe not not in 97 minute piece and like . A lot of it's been a lot of good fights but. The top guys should fight so well in their prime you know I don't understand. You know all it up with the number one contender is back and I think going to be number one for 2 years and a shame to No 4 when I was put in the history of any sport and is not just books in any sport anyway division never happened things up and it's not good that the champions is doing a you know let's say it could be such a great hero you know I mean you know I think for a while back if I just not going to care for a reason to fight few even we cannot fight each other for 4 terminal didn't complain. Profile one the win lose or draw can still put a few winners it has to but just look up people paid to see if I could distill interesting fights so but he's got to worry about losing a word about this you know people's run in and Sunny this is cinnamon from all you've learned about the business side to take these points will some time. At this rate be into when I'm at retail we fight me you know when no one who knows but hopefully it will work for will you know. We all get along in time which for a moment I don't want to be fighting these government for 56 you know I don't want to be some old guy and get in the fight and you know rubbish the fights just don't the same effect you know she fights it in our prime I'm not my premier I'm same group are still learning but should fight no one is good at ones in a row no you know the entire world is upset that you put it in fact just a turn no 15000000 it was love it was happy and just a lost the reason. Why are you happy whatever for are you going to get that kind of money from. You know. He told you it was rubbish why did you fire him for the 1000000 if you have rubbish and it's a joke when you say you're still improving how much he's be biased here and laugh so much if you're trying to. Clean a part of your different reasons a lot mind you know completely chance for a chance from a mindset towards training moment of physical or post or training you know and I'm improving and getting better such as G.L. Fall from a public pogrom and please know what I'm 1000000000 learn you know the track in all my numbers everything you know stuff that I've never done before and it's I've been there on the 111 self estate market finitude a condition that a condition can see nutritionist a physio everyone speaking it's all in the one umbrella is that just oh I'm doing better in the condition here. A few rounds of what's in there Cherilyn. 15 miles to go there you know it's just sort of one place so it's easier to cover everything you know condition you can just walk from down there 5 minutes is here see almost water in their nutrition is Kanzi check my weight descend thereby see what's going on see on wages she never was in the stuff in the physio you know Simon And you know. Your physio here salmon in London that I know is you know Mike of Warsaw and China just have every area covered every year a couple of you know some Oscar repairs he stepped up against right used and and finally down there's every chance he might step up again yeah of course this in his undefeated you know. His experience ignorance and arrogance and confident of never loss of will never go into a separate defeat never been to bundle up going home hang isn't a shaman I've been to my loss I need to so is dangerous everything but I mean even lose confidence boost you know you can talk better Wi-Fi is and on top for a minute you know I've been around the block you know or know what to do with these guys now and I mean you know I know what to do let my coaches say you know you go in old my name do this let's punch is go over your head you know stand right in front of him and he would point to stay in the pocket do things man hand them do think you know minute I don't know what to do a full so many different style of fire is now a foot there's a good rocket speed hence you know a foot tall rangy go for tricky guys for guys who can punch you know saw us a lot to do you know are still a lot of learning and development to do and a box and say but instinctively I saw you know OK Sky's got Fossa hands than me or do or do I so annoyed it was just minutes to make as you can see in fights of made them you know minor looked a 1000000 the. There's early term of maybe just me but the government and this is number one with Amir wherever dispenses this is you know that was Dylan white stave off Peru University where we went up on Tuesday of last week many a time I've been out there in the past to speak to Britain's leading athletes and dealing why it's been very keen to add the scientific approach to his training and saying how he's developed as a as an athlete as well as a boxer and it was all martial there by Mark tips his trainer and there is clearly this bond that's developing fight by fight between the 2 of them and there was this sense of the amateur gym feel there when the workout got underway there were 3 or 4 of them in the ring at the same time all doing their shadow boxing just like it used to be at our clubs down the years and just bringing that kind of togetherness that team feel that club feel to to sometimes the monotonous routine of training or marks a product of good James West Ham and then direct to where you want all of his stuff when he was a rep to he was trained by a man called George Bowers who's nephew was Martin Bowers who's calls in the corner with Dan you Dubois and they do the same thing no it's an old it's installed in the boxes it's installed in the trainers they train like that so that's what motives will do when he gets the boys will come into the gym just like his father Jimmy before him and just like George Bowers the great trainer we were when TONY BURKE The great trainer Repton the 1st thing you do you go up in a ring in the shadow boxing you do 3 threes or 4 freeze or 5 freeze of shadow boxing you know it that's why it works you walk into a gym and so moch was that you get up in the ring and you do you do you will up a simple as that but we are talking about race heavyweight era and the exciting heavyweight era if you go back only 3 years and we've seen Anthony Joshua against Vladimir Klitschko we've seen Tyson Fury against the anti while the most recently we saw and against Andy Ruiz Jr But what about below World Title level if you factor in Dili and whites and to fights against their. His aura never to be forgotten the fight against Joseph Parker almost went against him in the last few seconds Lucas was around blood by Israeli I mean how do you how would you react if I said that he's the wrong Lyle the wrong lie out of the $70.00 operating beneath the you know if you like the glory of foreman for a 0 on our lady and of course he was a memorable fights against Foreman against Darley and all hands and Daley and white for me at the moment is playing that role of Ron Lyle but of course has still plenty of potential in terms of going on to eventually win one of the world title belts law and Dillon while I've been shot and stabbed so that's another similarity between the 2 of them dearly and while as not been sent to prison twice for murder and so that's when one law beats him in the penitentiary stakes so to speak I don't think it's a bad comparison let's show you for why Mike and earlier in the show we were talking we were talking about John tight and Weaver and loud just comes before them but he's part of that that generation or they're part of his generation in many ways and this is this generation is heavy generation of American sometimes called the last generation of great heavyweights and then you know what fights like that do you want fights like a heavyweight from the seventy's early eighty's that's what defies that he doesn't feel like a modern heavyweight is a fight like a modern of a toss a few fights like a modern have a way and he justifies like a modern heavy way then you do qualify it's like a modern modern HAVE WAY very limited let me Klitschko to clinch because they're full of modern heavyweights he doesn't fight like a modern heavyweight he fights like an old school heavyweight Lennox Lewis had a toe in both camps if you like sometimes he could be a heavyweight from the seventy's and sometimes he could be a clever smart Olympic style box up from the ninety's but Dylan what screen put him in a row ring with free ropes put some smoke in the arena and he could walk straight back in he's afraid backfired to my and he's got the approach of the seventy's as well taking on tough fight after a tough fight and once again at the weekend Oscar Reeve ass who comes with. That amateur background we were talking about right at the beginning of the podcast The big Cooper who left for the Olympic Games in 2008 and then in the quarterfinals lost to the gold medalist rebirth her camera early so potentially a tough fight for Dillion white at the Wake County Detention another exciting fight on the on the cards they've 2 more of those in that top 10 are reward off to one of the British heavyweight scene at the moment Dave Allen against David Price David Price who came out of the Olympics in 2008 the same 1000000 big games the Oscar reverse was was present at. And had a bronze medal and was touted as a future world champion but it hasn't happened for him has every chance that against Dave Allen because he could land that pinpoint right hand and if you were to catch Dave Allen who said that one of those bizarre careers where he's at to change literally physically change is Morphy's transformed his body from the kid a couple of years ago 2 or 3 years ago used to go on the scows having stuffed tennis balls and pays a Sox Downey's speedos to make it you know to give us a bit of fun a bit a bit a human guard a fiddle wife through various fights lost on points to Dylan why eventually was stopped by Louis Ortiz he suddenly got serious about a year ago and he enters this fight and price he can't quite work out how it could possibly be a fight and Dave Allen Carr work out how price he doesn't realize how he's going to lose this is one of those I'm going to use about this Asterix again I'm going mad in the last 10 minutes of the show this is a cracking fight I really wish this was the Olympia in Liverpool or you'll call a really wish this was a small hole 5 Scott lots and lots of out of. 5. Nina Mandelson is a therapist and author where Boston helping people especially women feel good about themselves their bodies and their relationship with food need out welcome to fit and fail if you are a 1st class of the United States well we are very very. Sleepy honored that we would love to him more about you in your own words what you do how you walk and how you came to walk in this kind of space 30 years ago I was doing body work I was doing the show and every day I would put my hands on women's bodies and heure their bodies story and share their trauma and sure about the relationship they had with their body through their whole life because our body is the Book of our life and so doing that body work at that deep connected relationship level I ended up shifting my work into counseling and psychology and read. Really talking to women about what is their relationship with their body what how they feel in their own skin and then that move me into the world of nutrition and then I combine all of those things to work with women who are struggling who are struggling because they look in the mirror and they don't like what they see they're struggling because they know everything there is to know about what they should be eating or what how they should be treating themselves but they're still what I call talking trash to themselves and really being the so my work is helping women step into an authentic and positive and sharing and nourishing relationship with their body which is why. So much what you're doing because that is what you're doing helping women step into their bodies and say yes this is a good place this is my home I came across this post that you wrote and it was titled I feel fat and it really spoke to me like you know more than at any post at a house before and I thought it would be credible if you could read out Absolutely absolutely and I just want to say that I didn't make this post this is from personal experience so just to know that as we get rolling so it's a poetic essay called I feel fat sitting in my therapist's too soft sofa and exclaim with deep despair I feel fat and patiently week after week she'd say if you weren't feeling fat What would you be feeling. It took me months to understand the question what do you mean if I wasn't feeling fat I do feel fat I feel an acceptable I should do something about the number on the scale I should fix my non perfect body no really this is all about my size I believed it until I didn't until the cultural brainwashing started to thaw that is not a feeling fat is a size it's a descriptor feeling that is a placeholder It's a placeholder for so many feelings that don't have words feelings that don't have permission to be felt feelings that don't know how to go out so they just turn back on me and attack myself or I decoded feeling fat it means I feel sad mad disappointed angry overwhelmed confused uncomfortable jealous and every other feeling and sometimes it was easier to feel that it's familiar it's the known pain instead of the terror of the deep feeling underneath the fat but here's the secret that deeper feeling has wisdom it doesn't tear you to shreds it doesn't disown your body it invites you home. It invites you to your knowing to your innate wisdom so my question to you is if you weren't feeling fat What would you be feeling. Can we just give that. You read that so beautifully I know that sun Many of us listening may include it we related to this we relate to to not being able to express ourselves and letting letting our Fit and lorries and frustrations on an angle with ourselves all with situations we were in manifest themselves in how we felt about body and well I really took away from that was that it's not about the body it's it's almost never been about the body it's about feeling what we call a make a difference we can speak I think particularly as women and I'm just having like a moment of realization do you think because we as women you know in a paycheck or society have kind of been we've talked we've been taught to like not really express our feelings where you know we need to. Feeling down we need to be quiet we need to be respectful and I.P.T. And and do you think therefore unable to express how we truly feel about things and for women in particular because we don't have method or the language of the tools to express ourselves that that will manifest itself as body image on low self-esteem. You know from that it's yes it's it's 2 factors but there's more than 2 but the 2 that I'm hearing you talk about which are so true one is as women it's taken a centuries to get our voices right just look at the vote right into a long time for women to have a voice in their nation so that's one piece is we don't we haven't been trained to have a voice in not just a political voice but how am I allowed to say my feelings right when women have intense feelings they're called hysterical in the fifty's they were given value right let's just subdue your anger right so on one side we have this whole piece where you're not allowed to have your strong feelings because they seem irrational which is not true our feelings our anger our sadness our disappointment all of that has tremendous wisdom so you've got on one hand you've got this piece of. Women are are not taught to be fully expressed and then on the other hand you have a whole diet culture saying where you really should be focusing. Is on your body where you really should be focusing on what you eat so you should focus on how your doing this body food thing right or wrong so you conflate those 2 issues right I'm not allowed to have my feelings oh so what am I feeling I'm feeling angry at my body and it gets displaced and it gets plunked into our relationship with our body and that's why when we're doing this work of creating a powerful strong trusting connective compassionate relationship with our body we have to zoom out include that patriarchal perspective and zoom out of the body it's not that our body isn't important or we don't live know what you know we. Want to do or how we want to be to nourish our body but we have to zoom out to say wait a 2nd this isn't just in my body this is a cultural issue and I feel fat we end up using that as a weapon and one of the ways that I think about women and their relationship with their bodies is often women are at war so we're at this place of of war with our bodies and there's weapons and there's 2 types of weapons that I think about often I think about internalize weapons and X. Turn a weapon so internal weapons are Can't believe i just that right external weapons is the billboard that is advertising lose you know 7 pounds or you know 2 stone in 2 weeks right whatever that is so there's the cultural external weapons and the internal weapons and we often use I feel fat as an internal weapon. That there's a lot of fat women and men trying to reclaim this the what fat because it is a descriptor as he said in your poem it's a descriptor but it's because we've learned that it that's a negative thing that an insulting thing but actually to understand that like we say there are people barrow fat people that we're told people that people we just need to start using it as a descriptor How do you go feel about that I guess I add I definitely think the more normalized the better it would be a how how we go about in a more mainstream environment I think right now on social media a lot of people talk about that a lot people are talking about using fossil descriptor not holding back from it however if I was to speak to you know a screw friends you know I have this one friend at school and if I was to say to him you know you live in a fog body she would that would break. Me Know Why do you think. Because our culture has made it a warring word made its day it's made it thing that we don't want to be same with the word overweight it's like oh I'm overweight almost like it's an apology and the word overweight I want to question just like we're questioning the word fat and how do we use it this language with our bodies song Porton because how we speak to our Saltz right how we speak to a dear friend how we speak to a partner in our life the words we use it makes a difference on the relationship so when we use words like sad it's going to have an impact right some we're trying to reclaim the word but for some people it still feels wounding the word overweights I want to look at because over what weight you . Write So another way to think about that for and to play with and experiment with is to use words like. Living in a larger body living in a smaller body instead of overweight because overweight implies that there is this continuum that somehow you get to and now your past the ideal place I don't know about what it's like in the US the sun in the U.K. Even if you just what it's like the news by Chris Shays in the morning best always a headline about something to do with bodies and you know we cannae this food because it will make us fat and fat is a problem and even though there are a lot of people really trying to whack him we claiming that and neutralizing it like he said it's still very loaded for many people because we're getting these constant social messages in a semi on a social level right do you tend to work with women who are in smaller bodies a large bodies or do you kind of walk with a mix you know I work with a mix of body sizes and body types and the commonality is that women are feeling like they are at war with their body so I work with women who you know by objective standards people would say oh you fit into that sort of even thin privilege range of weight sort of where they can shop at you know. Some heartless stores without thinking about it twice but still there's this feeling my body is not acceptable and that's the part that's so important to expand and unpack which is how what is that relationship right if and and if I may and I guide you all into this exploration a little bit is that it is a bit of a process yeah OK so I have a question for all of you which is how would you describe the relationship either you can answer for yourself personally you can answer now or you can answer if you you know done a lot of healing Lou. Your body the relationship you had with your body or the women that you see in your community how would you describe the relationship that you see women have or you have with your guy I would say in my personal experience I have a very respectful relationship to my body I've had some health issues and I just feel like I respect the strength of my body and my body's ability to fight life through so God So my mental issue of my body is one of respect. OK so I heard so many great words of what you said you said respect strength and resilience those are very powerful words and I have a piece of paper on one side I have war and the other side of peace right because it's different languages. So in the realm of this relationship of Body Peace which I often find is a much more helpful concept for us to aspire to then body positivity even though that's a big word in our culture right now I know from having body image issues and body relationship issues for many years of being president about my body is not always on the table for the day but being at peace yes I can do that so that's why I want us to start pulling apart. Where's the relationship and where is it sitting in terms of do I have a working relationship or do I have a peaceful relationship and what is what's what language what are the words and language of each side so who say in the possible speak about myself in the past I used to have a I used to have a pretty good relationship with my body up until I started dieting and that really I found the moring gauged in diet and wanting to change my body and actually some of my kind of my smallest body size and I actually found myself I was preoccupied with how I looked I didn't feel good enough I was stuck in comparison and I I really would hone in on different parts of my body like my my hips or checking for body fat on my stomach or looking for cellulite on my body because I I wanted so desperately to look like images I saw online to clean my fitness what I really wanted to fit in I. Everything I was doing was to fit in and to to be accepted but I find ironic that when I was at my small list and perhaps by society's standards I was probably at my lamest all my buddies best shape should I say own limitations I felt my most conflicted about my body I felt my most confused Yeah so those are very powerful words and so part for us to just highlight because those so many of the words used used are the words that we think of when we're in this strife Saul. Body war relationships dieting restriction preoccupied What did I just eat what AM How much should I weigh what should I eat right the what I call compare and despair who what size is her body is my body smaller or bigger and should I feel bad about that in those moments when you're having my body accomplish always want what you can't physically have like I used to always want to have more curves and non-life I'm just I'm breaking the law. But it's so important right what you're talking about is owning your own brand of beauty. So much of our culture does not do that they say here is the brand of beauty that is idealized this is the brand of beauty that you should strive for and in that we start to objectify our own bodies when we're striving for somebody else's brand of beauty and to say you know what this is my brand of beauty my brand of beauty is all curves my brand of beauty is lengthy my brand of beauty is. You know whatever it is but own NG who we are and our own unique expression of ourselves Reg rowing up I am 5 foot 2 I am curvy I have dark hair I grew up thinking I should be tall and blonde and thin there's no part of my genetics that will ever be tall and blonde and thin. So to get to that place of going. This is me he acts a huge amount of work on creating a relationship with ourselves separate from the relationship that our body and our perception has with the cultural ideal So you say that you want to help people reclaim their bodies and we want to help our listeners reclaim their bodies so we just want to know if you had a practical task that perhaps we could ask our listeners to go away and do this week which would help them do just that. Yes So one of the most powerful things is to start a little to hard for some to start writing down every time you catch yourself with that mean what I call the mean mirror voice or the body management voice I should do this I can't believe my thighs start naming the inner critic it's not so fun it's not super easy but it's so powerful when we start calling her out and going you know what that's not a relationship I want right we can start shifting the relationship until we look over and go. Oh that's the relationship thing with. So the 1st step is to name it name all that inner critic think and if you can if you get to the stage is to write a more compassionate phrase or compassionate response to that criticism what that does is it starts you talking to yourself that's the work we want to have happen then we want you to start talking to your body in a way that's kind and compassionate because it changes the relationship we've had before and the cost it's like how you would speak to a friend how I would speak to Vicki of honor and and actually before we got recording today we did a bit of a thing of where we told each other how great we thought we. Were. Just a really nice that 5. Wanted us to do and that it was a great thought to recording and it's exactly that if it's working out you know like you said like if you if you had your friends saying that to themselves What would your response be to your friend and I think you have to know that your body is your friend and it deserves that Khamis fact I just want to add in. Something that I read to him I've been in one of I think it's like a downloadable recently book thing you have a new website and it really really stuck out to be and it was basically saying how we should we should stop him refer to the body of a she by saying she as opposed to it like you know people people care about because it's it's almost as if it's a person whereas if we're just constantly say in it than we don't really care about it because it's just a thing and a thaw by call in the body is she like that's something that really really stuck out to me and I think it's something that the listeners could really benefit with. It's so interesting to me that you bring that up because as I was waiting to start this conversation with you I just sat down and started writing and if I may can I read a very brief time that I just wrote it hasn't been published yet after explain it simply fail it. Completely hasn't been anywhere it hasn't even been editing yet so but it's exactly about so it's called We got the body thing wrong we got it wrong because we were taught it was a thing our body something to be dealt with to be managed to be monitored to be measured we got it wrong because our body became it how could this amazing collection of cells wisdom and energy be an IT It keeps our body over there separate from us it keeps us from being connected your body she a goddess is connected to you she is you I know you already know the body mind spirit concept the idea that all our parts are connected but she your body keeps getting left out she gets ignored she gets objectified she gets managed try calling her she. Or darling or lovely or whatever name you call someone you truly loves try that and watch a relationship until. High cost the goose Oh I mean honestly this is one of my favorite F.S.A. Emma you are just an absolute light if the phone eyes we just we've all of us have got big smiles and it is like I feel woman hardly know an email such that late I am just so heartened that you have such as powerful platform and are using it to help women he'll their relationship with their food and body it's truly brings tears to let us know oh well I don't.
