For Morley an outward Andrea Jenkins says it's the skills base. Which matters so I do think it's important that we take control of our borders and and show that immigration is based on the needs of the country but we can say we can take back control and it's possible that immigration levels will go up certainly from places like India and Australia. That an ageless and still hilarious have a great day it was me that put the involuntary extra letter in that I am by the way and good morning to Sean the Irish terrier who says puppets How about spitting image loads they want to bring it back that have a field day with a reason why and Jeremy cool but actually one of the gentleman who was involved in spitting image back in the day is the expression God is Michael Finton statements and hopefully all being well with the following wind we're going to speak to. State and always in Dayton to this from David Bowie there is a ballot. Box . Illo. GLICK . OK. Live. Long and. 11 . David Bowie let stand some B.B.C. Radio Leeds Good morning this is Regis. 21 minutes after 10 now Basil Bush was in a No Fear Thursday morning. I'll be surprised to be surprised if it wasn't to be fair. And it said spots a conversation of puppets the smolder are good I'm going to see a little bit disappointed that it is mainly descended into Tour de jokes about childhood favorites about softball or seem to have on my screen and Julian has just sent me a text about muffin the meal which accompanies subliterate ousts Crisil So let's take a break from that and let's introduce you to 2 people who you may well say on the stage of the city varieties in May The B.B.C. Radio 4 comedy radioactive was born back in 1980 out of a 979 Edinburgh Festival Fringe show presented by the Oxford review it ran for 7 series and was adapted for T.V. In the late eighty's and early ninety's where it was call K Y I T V I'm hoping I'm getting all of this right but if I'm not if I'm not some pretty sure that Angus States in a Michael Finton Stevens will be able to put me right good morning to you both you did very well it was marvelous both his own were very well read well out of I was very well reading to be fair I can't claim that claim any claimed credit but I remember very much K Y T V But it's interesting to sort of know the backstory you want to tell us Angus all the way from those Oxford Revue days how this has come to come to be well a you summarized it very well. Did start a festival as an Oxford University show and it was a stage review in those days and then it became a radio series that run for 7 series on Radio 4 and then as you said it turned into K. Right T.V. On B.B.C. 2 but what we're doing is a kind of stage representation of 2 radio recordings so if you come along to the theatre on the 18th of May please do. You basically see 2 as it were radio recordings and they are 2 shows that we wrote for the 4th series so that would be like 1904 Yeah we haven't actually changed it at all so what you might have did you might think in fact that that makes it sort of slightly irrelevant but but actually we were really surprised we did this in Edinburgh last year because we thought why not and and everybody else seem to be doing it so we thought let's have a go and we were really taken aback by the response of the audience who I have to say we're all over 50 which was amazing. It's a body of work that stood the test of time is what you're telling us and that's what we're saying you were not going to write that down when I mean it's a bit like Shakespeare Yeah yes I mean I think possibly but it also says that. Local Radio hasn't actually changed that much in 32. And the fact that you just played Let's Dance by Dave Barry was the point. You're still doing you know you got better with Rush on your show yeah and then I did not but a bad batch of brush once did you yeah yeah and we were in a recording studio and the and I'm going to give away secrets here but there's a man who does a voice for Basil Brush here but while we were doing the advert he had his microphone under the table so that he could talk under the table and put his hand up over the top of the table because he said he couldn't do it while sitting upright. Interesting is that you shot of the illusions of awareness and. Broken the spell. Yeah we should have really put a bit of a disclaimer out you know when if there's going to be stronger scoping lighting on yeah we should have had something that somebody is going to destroy you brush found should stop listening now when you will one day when you go back to it said 19 I'm presuming 7879 when when you were writing this because the base that is local radio has been passed each to a lampoon a fair bit over the has been trying to think probably hadn't been done before then had a it's certainly predate on a partridge or day to day or. Any of those so yes I guess and also I think we like to think that we were the 1st to do pop pirate is which of course later became you know the basic staple of not I thought news and 3 of a kind and spitting image. Was We like to think the 1st because we wanted it every show over the people we said was Is it a bit like the baron knights and we said no it's nothing like the Maronites because we actually wrote our own tunes so well and lyrics so it was very that's if any of your listeners have any idea who the bad moments are across and I think they were live they like David Bowie and yeah anyway and the thing is well and things do do sort of almost all I can think of create for a cell just steam ahead with what I was going to say. The heebie jeebies that's just I have heard presenters on commercial on B.B.C. Radio stations back announce the baby as the heebie jeebies because that does happen doesn't that kind of thing it does yeah it was it was it had an enormous effect at the time even though I don't think it sold that many records in this country but it but it everybody played it a lot and I think for the 1st time people realise that actually pop music which was taking itself rather seriously was not as amusing as everybody was be tending it was particular everybody singing those very silly hype. Voices So that's really what we did and pointed it up and it still works to this day we still get a fantastic response when we sing it which is amazing 1st that we get a great response and 2nd that we can still sing it I think and now does it sort of look obviously said. It's a radio piece brought to the stage how do you sort of convert that in that way Angus. Well yes the set is basically a radio studio so. If you can imagine that there is maybe 3 microphones and a few chairs and on a sign so you know I may say may be they can see me this is extraordinary Yes And and so we perform the show as if we were recording a radio show. It's an idea that I stole from a guy called Neil Pearson who is a very famous actor who did the same with Tony Hancock shows and so he presented 2 tourney half hours. As radio shows and I saw the end 1st of all and I thought that's sort of what we did for the entire. Decade of the 1980 S. Show we have a go so we went out to a festival last year presented the show and we had such a ball that we decided to take it on tour so that's what we're doing and if you would like to see it you can go to the city varieties on the 18th of May because that's when radioactive is being performed here just before I sort of bid you farewell for the morning gentleman as as I mentioned Basil Brush was on earlier and yeah we've been people have been regaling us with that tales of puppets and we've not asked I asked them to add What's your favorite puppets or anything like we know what's better. Ventriloquism or finger pubs or anything but I feel a bit cheating it because Mike you've already regaled us with a wonderful tale of self BYRNE I'm not sure it was wonderful but it was a tale it was at this. It's an image Yes Yes Can I ask as a result of doing the B.G. Because we had sort of a Philip particularly Philip pope who writes all the music for us and does most of the singing he went on to become the musical director a spitting image so as a result he got me in I guess I think was too. I'm talented out here to be asked to do it and under we sang most of the songs for Spitting Image over the years as world and amazingly I did I turned up one day for a session and he said well you have got this one Mike and I sang a song called The chicken song and that went to number one for 3 weeks which was so I'm I'm I'm a number one hit pop star one and I constantly constantly get. You know trouble in the street but people saying can you get out the way please mate you know there was a particularly fine time for music you know Falco's Rock Me Amadeus although I knew were replaced by Dr in the medic spirit in the sky when I take it all back then good knowledge good knowledge that I had any memorable encounters with puppets for you Angus that you would like to share with us before we go I was never part of the spitting image on tour I didn't come close to any profits I'm frightened. But I think the heebie jeebies was number 2 in Capital Radio's hit line for about 2 weeks and kept Elvis off the top so yeah. But you have to remember that gee that was a phone vote so the fact that my dad spent his entire time at work on the phone ringing Capital Radio thank God you know I don't want to go back into those days of cheating but basically why I was there heaven forbid will be giving cats names next time Angus Michael pleasure both of you and if you would like to see I guess Michael and everybody else radioactive is on of the city varieties in Leeds on the 18th of May. Your legal questions 103453033 you can text a one troubles for a starting that message with the word lades or email Richard stead of P B C doc. I will meet Norman again after the weekend. Cut. Cut even if it's the weekend and Daft Punk and I feel it coming on B.B.C. Radio lates Norman Taylor this from JONES My assistant Good morning Nomen morning Richard how I am a very good thank you good good I would like you to get in touch with those to get mates who asked Norman any questions you would like on matters of a legal nature now Norman speciality is family law however is more than happy to delve off into the realms of legality on your behalf this morning so if it's wills and pro by employments if it's a legal term you don't really understand if you look in a contract or something and you've got a query now is your chance to ask it's also an opportunity to talk about brags it believe it or not Norman because one of the e-mails that is coming to Richard stead of B.B.C. Doc. You are saying this in fact on our screens now I've got B.B.C. News and Sky News on on on in the studio as always are both of them are doing brags it one year ago it was mentioned on the breakfast program when Nick this morning and this is a question from Jonathan who says Can you ask your legal expert which is you Norman what the legal implications will pay across the board after brags we often hear particularly in the world of employment law that things will change. But is the legal profession bracing itself for raft of changes or is this just another one of those known stories where your in the legal profession normally gets to go to break zip. Just on the legal sense of it will we see a lot of changes in the legal world all oh well I'm pretty sure we're going to see a lot of changes because European law and. The regulations and conventions are enshrined in our law. And there is a massive entanglement between the 2 so when breaks it happens if break pretty happens. Then there will have to be a disentanglement And then there will be quite a massive debate as to the extent to which European legislation is going to be retained in some form or another within the English system. But the the true answer is we just don't know is the legal profession bracing itself. I think subliminally it probably is on an everyday basis and we get on with what we've got to do a moment but we really don't know what what's coming in my particular area of family law one of the questions will be the extent to which. Conventions relating to the enforcement of orders in different countries within Europe will still apply and in particular conventions in relation to children. At the moment there are conventions with regard to abduction of children that apply around the world and there are certainly regulations within Europe so how that will be affected how this sort of thing we affected who knows because the rigid you saw the main moments from England and that is from France or somewhere and yes the Currently there is. A reciprocal arrangement in the European law but then. There won't be a yes and so say for example one parent or one party is in England the other party is in Europe the ability to enforce an order in another part of Europe through through the local system of the person who for example owes the money or hasn't paid or whatever right so what we have to wait and see is the extent to which that's going to be affected by by breaks in what new regulations if any and you conventions might have to be brought into account and that's just one small area so the general feeling I think is that 40 odd years worth of legislation is going to be it could be very difficult to disentangle and disengage in a year or 2 years. And a whole new industry may well. Arise of lawyers dealing with re enacting. Whatever exists at the moment Elijah fellow may say no money for brakes it lawyers for you out of that comes on my television my boat may well be going through a good telling me we could get something like that well I think that we were it's a long time since we negotiated going in. And and there is not a great deal of experience of negotiating coming out. And so something new has got to happen but when you were you asked me earlier about whether the legal profession was bracing itself in Jonathan's question John his very words I think that we we should be bracing ourselves personally I think I'll probably be bracing myself for retirement I am. But the younger lawyers are going to have to get to grips with. Many many changes over the next year is interesting well thanks for answering I realized no strictly speaking a question I thought we'd ask this morning but it came in on this day when I think all the papers T.V. Programs breakfast program with talking about a year to Bragg's it Jonathan's picked up on it knew that Norman or a lawyer at least was here and has asked the question that's what we did Radio late it's legal Thursday Norman is with us through until 11 o'clock Norman Taylor from Jones Maya solicitors Norman's expertises family law of ice league our family local for a change research seldom that we do have a family law question isn't a good one for you this morning someone who would like to remain anonymous no props E.-Y. As I read this is currently dealing and would like me to be as ambiguous as I possibly can be with a matter of family law and in correspondence there are 2 phrases that have been noted that they are unfamiliar with Firstly add the acronym calf cas. Morse calf gas main in the context of fat Well Marg I guess in any context what is it cost is the you guys Asian essentially one could say social workers who are specialized in dealing with children matters and they provide reports on the welfare of children and then he issues arising in applications to the court in relation to children who are suggested organize an organization that will provide or if ordered to do so by the court they will provide a report. See the parties. Possibly see the children as well provide a report for the judge dealing with welfare issues and any concerns they have and 2nd question the difference plays between a supervision order elect care order. Well with regard to supervision order this is when the children will remain with the parents be there will be supervision by the authorities to ensure that everything's OK and care order is when the children are taken into care of the local authority. So the main differences one is where the children remain with the with the family and the other one is when they are taken from the family into the care of the local authority that helps cast casts in the difference between a supervision order and a care order. Me a real who is only aware of the location of her last will and testament it would appear in there in a very vague message I have here made some time ago however the solicitor which I used as long retired I think your mention of retirement normal is as Job Muriel's mind and provoked are to send us a little text here how can I find out who holds my last will and testament or would normally recommend me just make it another one well that's a good question when the solicitor retired they would more than likely have passed on any wills deeds and so on to another firm they couldn't just leave them somewhere so they must be somewhere and what I would suggest firstly is if you if you contact Muriel contacts the Law Society to try and establish which practice took over the practice of the solicitor then that would be the 1st step I think the 1st clue whether she should make another will my question probably would be why not if the will was made some time ago it may be that mural circumstances have changed and I think it's the sort of situation where other than paying a solicitor which will not be an inordinate amount of money to do an update will. It may just be worth it. To bring things up to date thanks Muriel I will have questions after the tram. Wow Wow. Wow Wow. It's the charm and Disco Inferno. Radio lades 7 minutes away from 11 this is the final legal Thursday by the way in its current guys those of you of. On that we're having a bit of a move around the furniture a B.B.C. This is the text that it says might be . Dog was let out by an engineer who was coming to check my electricity meter he let my dog out of the garden knowing she was there I have the instant all on C.C.T.V. I called the company numerous times I had a conversation with the manager who was clearly trying to say it was my faults it's been over a month now the dog has not returned what legally can I do. Well . I understand that. People and dogs have very close relationship and I can imagine that this is a very emotional situation. For this person. One could. Think that possibly the engineer was negligent in some way having a duty of care to make sure that the dog didn't escape out of the house. And I think that having gone to the manager a manager that the there is a need to go higher up. And one could imagine a possibility of some sort of compensation claim for the value of the the dog I don't know how much the dog would be worth. And. The most that I can say is really that. I empathize sympathize. With the loss of the dog. You. If the engineer is at fault then their employer is vicariously liable that means that they're liable for the actual negligence or let me just ship enormous requests the caller is asked the question doesn't want to come on the radio but they are sort of saying that the company I deny any responsibility frankly they don't care I believe is that is the quote that's just being given but the caller the gentleman does have the events on C.C.T.V. Yes Well I think in these circumstances you have to go higher than the initial manager companies are very sensitive about publicity. And should be aware of social media and so on and they won't want this sort of bad publicity gentlemen stood with a very sad face a garden gate on the front page of the local newspaper dogs out yes we're not trying to be clever with out but that this is of headline and story that the song does lead to action is an absolutely maybe local newspaper my aunt to get involved . Might be an interesting story for them. So that we are that what it's about ambiguous but hopefully we've given you a suggestion or 2 that Norman thank you ever so much for your time always enjoy Breck's it lost dogs and a few family lore and wills and probate questions in between have a great weekend and they have a nice long weekend with the families of a good time thanks Richard There we go that's Norman Taylor from Jones my solicitors on B.B.C.
