On a 6 foot 6 foot tanks. Full serene and stocky Missy with b.b.c. Radio me. Well the smash hit musical Jersey Boys is on to again and it's coming to Yorkshire Jersey Boys tells the true life story of 4 boys from the wrong side of the tracks who wrote that own songs and invented that own unique sound they are of course the 4 Seasons featuring hits after hits including beggin December 63 Can't Take My Eyes Off You walk like a man bye bye baby that was a bit of a hit the base of the road was in this country wasn't to Big Girls Don't Cry and many many more is coming to the Bradford Alhambra in May and then it's coming to Leeds grand in November well cast members Simon Bailey and all of Lebanon have been talking to the B.B.C.'s Adam Tomlinson and analysts the Jersey Boys is the story of Frankie Valli the 4 Seasons and how they got to be the Frankie Valli the 4 Seasons their. 4 guys like you say from the wrong side of the tracks who basically their only option really is to be to be stars you know and they fight tooth and now to get there and then you see what happens once they do get there and then it comes the demise and. It's it's a roller coaster of a show there's everything in there that you could possibly want. And we love telling that story you're playing Tommy De Vito and Lorraine So who are they how do they work together well to me to detail this is one of the 4 Seasons I am playing a brain who is. Kind of the love interest thank you Vanny although he does have a wife at the time and I'm a reporter and I come to do an interview with him in this love at 1st sight not just I mean the story of the boys who are saying already is it's such a good story but is it fair to say that the music here is the main player in the show. I think it's I think it's really 5050 I mean because what's beautiful about this show is is that it's more it's chronological you know it's there is the telling of the story of the hits as they went along you know and that's it's something that people can really connect to I think and so I think I mean the music runs through the veins of the player suppose. And you can see as as the play goes on how much the music progresses and stuff and we get to the big 3 at the end of Act one and that's Sherry Big Girls Don't Cry and walk like a man and that's when the car to Bob Gaudio comes in and when the music really starts to become what is known as today you know the famous Frankie Valli in the 4 Seasons guys the sound of Frankie Valli and the 4 Seasons he's so well known how did you get to the point when you knew the sound you will make it was absolutely spot on. I mean these obviously it's so identifiable That sound you know I think you really have to work at. The tone you know I mean the tone is is so specific and that's obviously something that you work on during rehearsals that you have to get that wonderful blend that they had you know because they would have I mean obviously Frankie has a very very distinctive voice and so the other 3 seasons we have to we have to make sure that we all blend to keep that to keep that sound alive you know the harmonies of these songs a really huge selling point you know along with kind of the amazing melodies but the harmonies are so important that we have to work very hard to make sure that blend is spot on the harmonies arranging other because they started out originally is backing singers do you think this is part of the reason for their success the fact that they could turn that they could sing anything more or less straight off as backing singers or be required to do and they could harmonize as well I think absolutely yeah I mean that's a really good point you know I think when they were backing singers I think there was obviously something that was saying which was you know these guys are you know these are stand these are stand alone singers who you know they're a group of their own they shouldn't be backing other people not that in the wrong with that but like I think they and obviously I mean Tommy certainly would have had ideas above that because that's the sort of guy that he is and so I think there would've been a certain amount of yeah we need to we need to break away from this and go and go on our own Simon Bailey and all of Robinson from the cast of the new u.k. Tour of Jersey Boys speaking to the B.B.C.'s Anna Wallis and Adam Tomlinson said you can catch the show at the Bradford Alhambra in May and then the lead ground theater in November. As I. Just. Told. Me. From the musical Jersey Boys That was John Lloyd Young from the original Broadway cast singing the Frankie Valli hits Can't Take My Eyes Off You and it's a musical that has such special memories for me I saw it on honeymoon in New Zealand in all Clint at the Civic Theatre and when we saw it my wife and I it was only the 2nd night or something that was in town that day it was packed and it is a huge theater if you've seen the Peter Jackson film King Kong it's a theater they used for the interior shot for that movie Ice huge We were right up at the back in the state of tiny from where we are but it was a great night and it's a brilliant show and say it's on tour now coming to Yorkshire twice they see a part of the new national tour b.b.c.
