Weather Center hello good morning let's start the day's forecast in Scotland it's going to be a particularly wet start north of the central belt up through the ground pins into the highlands and away towards the Northern Isles this area of cloud rain gradually rotating its way a little bit further north and west through the day such that by mid afternoon it'll be north of the Great Glen and through the northern western isles at the same time through the central belt it should stay dry for the grace a part of the day with increasing amounts of cloud and that will certainly be the way of it turn towards the eastern borders where later on the afternoon it'll turn really quite wet and by the early part of the evening we will see some rain getting back into 5 best in the sunshine throughout the day probably don't was the far south west through can tie down towards Dumfries and Galloway perhaps parts of Asia also faring quite nicely temperatures in the range of 7 to 12. For Northern Ireland it should be a dry bluff and a Bryson of star there will be some sunshine variable amounts of cloud throughout the day but the greater part of daylight hours should be Dr fine with some sunshine as well temperatures responding to the north easterly breezes so paid back despite the sunshine at around $8.00 to $10.00 degrees not too bad at the time of year and now to England and Wales it's going to be a wet start across part of eastern England with this area of cloud rain gradually easing its way north of the wash by around about lunchtime but it will be all over the eastern side of the plans for the greater part of the afternoon the rainfall totals really beginning to mount up western side opponents by contrast much much drier throughout the day we've got a sunshine in places for much of the Midlands for Wales it looks as though it's going to be rather cloudy the odd passing shower but not particularly windy I think the strongest of the wind to be found across the southern towns of England where it will be a pretty blustery morning with some sherry person perhaps a little bit drier come the afternoon with a hint of sunshine 7 to 12 should cover it for every form of weather let's take a look at the front pages this morning and most covered Jeremy Corbin's interview with the B.B.C.'s Andrew Neil Corbin refuses to apologize to g. Says the Daily Telegraph The Express wonders if the Horror Show interview gifted Boris Johnson the election the i paper also points out the chancellor Sanjay Javid refused to condemn comments about Muslims made by the prime minister elsewhere the Daily Mirror reports the Tory ministers held secret talks of the Us drug and the sun talks about the Euro Millions win at the builder Steve Thomson It cost him they're worth a few bob the builder This is $5.00 lives it's $515.00. Some of the pretty. Good morning as the pressure cranks up on I arrive all tax in a taxi company looks to expand in the u.k. Rico brings us the latest in a moment also does the u.k. Need to be able to print money and passports is 200 year old big. This. Says it is struggling to survive the Bank of England gets its notes printed there also the Bank of England has dished out its biggest ever find to an American bank we'll have a look at what that's all about and Black Friday we start calling black for night. We've got a former High Street executive on the show to tell us how business is actually planned for all these discounts do they even want to get involved in the 1st place . Numbers to blink couple of days. As well this is the famous. More job cuts in the car industry this time is Audi it wants to save money to help fund an electric car investment some money. Produces James this morning saying kids who have Black Friday that was last week that were on about i wasn't it was think we'd be all on top of it wouldn't you but they just get overwhelmed with e-mails. When you start getting them in early November. Sort of distorts your mind a bit doesn't it we're going to be discussing just how businesses are planning for all of this now if you're a small business get involved in but for what I want to know your thoughts on have you got involved at all do you come up with your own shopping list has it going this week 3 days into this week at least are you getting the deals you want we're going to tell is a recount He's on in Singapore. The beginning of get even. Black Friday is it maturely thinking for bargains. Oh yes especially online. Here of course apart from the like the Amazons you have now the Ali Babas the shop a lot of online platforms here in Asia and don't forget I already bought your gifts last year. There will be no. Now talking about big tech online companies app based businesses and right sharing Yeah ride sharing in particular we've been talking about this. In London this week Transport for London has said the lawsuits will not be renewed cream of problems is going through the courts now you know you wake up the next day very still in use but it means isn't that all of a sudden the debate goes to well if you didn't exist what next and they're all of the business. So what we hear in well you know what there's this huge ride sharing company in India. And the name of this firm is all law it is Spanish for a wave but if you add the age to the it means hello so Hello London here we come so . If you really look at all of it is a much bigger dent Ober in the South Asian country it is huge it's worth $6200000000.00 u.s. Dollars and a variety of venture capitalists and Nicky including Soft Bank of Japan have large stakes in this company so it's not just you have Soft Bank not only investing in all of but also in so we'll see how that that will play out going forward but they're now trying to make their mark in London as they have begun signing up drivers have plans to launch services in the capital in the coming weeks so most probably one of these days early in the morning. You'll be writing and all of the work I presume these drivers are from Aruba drawbars it which carries as as that resolve the problem between now. And of London. Well you know what's to stop right here is you can basically sign up with multiple platforms just like here in Asia so most probably those drivers will now be signing up with their all or because you know rival prepares to appeal its. Decision to ship the firm from its license there well it's interesting this. In July I got this 15 month agreement for entry into the London market actually operates in the u.k. So services in South Wales and there are many many people get in touch with us this week talk about say there's actually lots of other start up companies effectively that are giving you real good deals at the moment in London particularly to try and use their services to to get private hire taxi at some point along the ice the competition is there you know they're trying to make their mark in London which is one of the biggest markets particularly for but why they may be able to avoid all the regulatory. Barriers Well what will you do different to. That is what we will see the reaction of black cab drivers. Generally they have not been happier with you know exactly with. The advent of online taxi companies Well Sean and Mickey head of International Operations came out with a statement and he breaks said that they have had constructive concert conversations with the sorties drivers a local communities in London over the past few months and they have built a robust mobility platform for London which is fully compliant with high standards there we go people I get these companies get bigger because that has been one of the things that they were you know when it's the biggest it's the one most looked at people will see. The benefits for drivers may be certainly more options if customers want lower prices drivers want to be having better conditions and better pay do those things out up thank you gentleman or la. Ciao. Yes Yeah thank you very much there are only fools and horses there's a way to money early in the morning. With this as well this morning that well there wasn't any segue that made me think of that senior investment manager Charles Stanley morning to you well Morning book you hear all that there. Are shame in based in the city of London you're probably a regular taxi get areas that are have been known to get a newbie so when Mickey says you know what difference does it make people talking about using all these different alternatives now or is it when you turn on your smartphone after a taxi do you have an array of apps at the minute a lot more personally but I mean this is the beauty of the internet isn't it because you can else search for what is the cheapest saw it and I think that's one of the problems it was good at the moment is that they're having to offer really low cost trips and subsidize the service has become almost a generic name it's not going to Google that you know you could be usually search engine certainly but there is definitely increased competition which is going to eat into the margins of these businesses which really does questionable ability of the business models so interesting one to watch well we're going to chew over a few other issues with you in a moment should just say tomorrow morning Nikki while you're in the warmth of Kent Yeah I'm going to be a service station on the m one we're going to be looking at the transport the road issues around their general election and so we'll be discussing a lot of people want to get in touch with a point ahead of that program tomorrow hash tag like it's a money car before you go well quite because maybe not the type of place you'd stop for a full shop on the service station is that she some think is that today sharing I mean we know we've got down way that it's a bit price here whether it's petrol only if you haven't got a fuel card interesting because all the commercial drivers fill up at. The big motorway service station is one on the m $25.00 and I look at the process I think that that's astronomical because they're not buying that bronze You know well interest may be part of it said there's been a mystery shopper exercise that's taken place showing the prices can be way higher than the average that would be used on the high streets to pan 294-8500 mil bottle of water. Sometimes you do it I don't if you have your bottle So Russia has nowhere else to go across service stations were visited about the water cost $1.00 pound $30.00 to $4.00 times more than you can get the supermarket. Effect comparison because a lot of things are a lot lot cheaper in the supermarket I even compared to the convenience store near the top erode full basket of drinks and snacks priced tested by research is included and cheese sandwich a cold sausage roll a packet of ready salted crisps a packet of wine gums a bar of chocolate a box I like Already I know lunch sorted and it turned out that you know you can end up spending 10 pounds more on those things than the supermarket best price but that shows it isn't if you plan a bit before you go away and why we are there on a service station tomorrow morning talking roads so if you've got an issue about buses about bikes that commuting down our highways long distance journeys what's going on the motorways on the roads near you potholes is going to come up as well let us know what you'd like to discuss are going to be looking at the party's policies around all of that lovely segue straight from cars into my advice service stations and back again the market will walk around and see your investment manager Charles Stanley and we'll news out today that addy's cutting jobs is going to try and cut about 9 and a half 1000 jobs to 2025 you want to try to adapt production to the email billeted area and achieve a 1000000000 Euro cost savings. This I mean I suppose it's inevitable that it will lead in that direction but at the same time it does sound a bit desperate just now and why weren't they doing these years ago here I mean is there's big structural changes going on in the automotive sector at the moment and the big concerns for them are investing in electrification and also having to cope with what is termed as new world testing so testing for missions as well and Saudis announce it is going to cut nearly $10000.00 jobs and drones use the money saved to reinvest in those and those of us talked about we saw $2.00 weeks ago they also said they were going to cut about a 10th where manages and save about 1300000000 in personal cost so it's a theme in Demick across the automotive sector a couple of years ago if you deciding to anyone in the car industry they they'll say well look you know we're going to we're going to have a sort of. Difference between no more petrol and diesel but we will have hybrid cars that's the route to go down because that's the established technology but I even see to be shining that a bit now and sank just talking about electric vehicles which really still out fit for purpose are the batteries need further research and development you know I mean I mean you know Musk is just slightly shifted the goalposts on this on this story and I mean Tesla Rees getting better in terms of the companies not probable cause but the the cause they've got of increasingly better performance and that's making what he really can't see the why can't he because he's windscreens or smashed and he's quick out so I mean what was all that about yeah well he is certainly go an innovative design on those new pickup trucks and that will wait to see if they're going to be attracted to some of the truckers in America and you think now that the entire issue of new technology and the why it's going as sort of blinded us a bit in this country grocers we talk about comics we talk about bricks and and really Prexy is a small issue for many of business ya know these these are global companies and as I say the structural issues around electrification and also having to cope with a new mission to. I think that's the areas that they're really focusing on story on the front of the times Mickey if I can find it about. Electric Car sales demand the 2nd hand electric car hits new high so the price of some electric car secondhand ones went by 14 percent this year so that's like the red nose only the b.m.w. I 3. Because of demand for those cars particularly the speed at which new cars like that are coming on the market isn't fast enough so people are looking to 2nd on cars more pushing the price and yeah well I appreciate all that but I mean if I didn't sell any electrics 2nd ankles last year and I shall show this year as a big increase so yeah this is just the average price yeah you do you set your day here. More job cuts a Compass Group $3000.00 jobs across your part of a program to make $300000000.00 of savings this is a company which is labor intensive business it is actually this is the story does toy back into the automotive sector because they cautioned about the macro environment in Europe in particular and that's where they're having trouble and actually it's in the automotive sector where the reduced headcount means that more people are eating less people are eating the hot dinners so it is actually toyed into the story we were just talking about but you have to remember that compass is has been on a very strong run in terms of share price of the last full of years this still sing very strong growth in North America and then down to the dividend up. Has increased by about 6.4 percent you should campuses in Asia is a catering company it does a lot of hospitality stuff it's probably the biggest in Europe isn't it absolutely yeah it is the biggest and has the majority of its revenues it's Then there are actually from North America so when we look at companies we focus more on the growth levels there but what they're having to readjust for in Europe and the results are just the margin expectations over the word the market yesterday because the shares were down about 700 percent before for them Ok well many thanks I will walk on it air from Charles Stanley a few other things knocking around in papers to. One of its. For our oh yeah you are awfully there Fairburn told to come clean about charity. This is the former boss of perception the house builder of course which made a great deal of money on the back of the government's help to buy initiative and if you remember Jeff urban The boss there he had a controversial 75000000 pound bonus which he was questioned bounty Barassi interview and he said you know shot me down charitable foundation and donate a lot of that money to charity and. So far we don't actually do anything there's no charity people. Like you to decide. Radio Lancashire Good morning and welcome to the next in our series of 16 special programs exploring the issues that matter to you in each of Lancaster's parliamentary constituencies unlike Stevens and I'm the B.B.C.'s political reporter for Lancashire and over the next half hour or so I'll be putting your questions to the people who could be representing you in Parliament today we're acting to market and we're going to be hearing from the 5 people who are vying to be the next member of parliament behind them we'll meet the candidates very shortly but 1st let's find out a bit more about the constituency. Centered around the town of Akron the constituency of Heine burn includes a number of smaller towns such as. And hassling to home 267000 voters the seat was created in 1983 and after an initial period on the Tory control Labor have held it since 1992 the Labor majority is currently 6000 but with 2 thirds of the constituency voting to leave the e.u. Isn't as predictable as it once was. So let's meet the candidates in alphabetical order they are solid brick left who standing for the Conservative Party used to run a local business. Has just graduated from university where she studied languages and she speaks German and Spanish fluently she's now looking at going into law with languages sorry spent her childhood surrounded by politics and join the Conservative Party about 10 years ago she's been active ever since and became a local councillor last year in a spare time sorry performs musical theatre and she'll be starring in Chicago next year we also have Katrina brought thank you standing for the Green Party Katrina works as a school business manager in a specialist learning community she joined the Green Party because she says it's the only party with the vision and freedom to know what needs to be done to protect our children's future Katrina lives in Haslingden with her 2 children and they enjoy spending their spare time swimming or going to the dry ski slope we also have great books who standing for the bricks it Party Greg is a former soldier who served in the fulcrums war and carried out a number of tools in Northern Ireland he's now semi retired but he spends part of his time renovating houses he got involved in politics fairly recently after becoming frustrated with the last Parliament he's another one of our candidates he says he stood for election after getting sick of shouting at the t.v. In his spare time Greg enjoys walking and fishing and once caught a 20 pound camp we also have Graeme Jones who standing for the Labor Party Graeme worked as a printer before becoming the m.p. For hind in 2010 he grew up in a political family and joined the Labor Party in the early 1990 s. Before becoming a local councillor in 2001 in his spare time Graeme enjoys walking and playing sport and last but not least we have Adam Wallace like you standing for the Liberal Democrats Adam has always been interested in science and now works as a consultant and he said test for the East Lancashire Hospitals Trust he became politically active at university and joined the Liberal Democrats after opposing the Iraq war he decided to become a candidate in this election after feeling the same way about bricks and his spare time Adam is a proud. A computer game who enjoys looking after his 2 cats. Decide . B.b.c. Radio Lancashire. So before we start we must just say that Katrina brought back the Green Party candidate is unable to be here today due to work commitments but she sent me some notes so I'll chip in to the debate on behalf let's start with. 66 percent of people in time and voted to leave the European Union in 2060 why are we still a member I think we're a man. I think it's all still going on because we have a parliament that's dysfunctional so we don't have a majority to get drugs it done we've had M.P.'s going against the will of their constituents for example here in Byrne And that needs to change and that's why this general election has been called because this parliament needs to change we need to get drugs it done so we can focus on all the vital services that the money put into them we need to focus on the n.h.s. Education but we're not able to do that right now so at that that is what needs to happen we need to get drugs it done and that can only be done with a conservative majority government. How can Boris Johnson be trusted when he has consistently said he would deliver Breck said by the 31st of October and didn't manage to do so well I think the reason that he didn't manage to do so was the fact that we had so many years and pays working against Bragg's I mean we've got people going against what their constituents voted for and that's a reason it's not been able to get through so that's why we need the majority but when Boris Johnson made that pledge made that promise to leave the European Union by the 31st of October he knew what cancer he was playing with he knew the current situation in Parliament so why promise it well I think at that point it was possible I think as we got closer we saw the last of the bad act come into power and everybody else just made it impossible they took away an ordeal from the table which was. Hard and to me that was wrong as well you can't take something like that off the table when you know cautious and people so it was down to the likes of well former m.p. Of Hind that blocked Briggs it and the reason we were able to come out on the 31st of October grain Jones the Labor Party candidate you blocked it was only 2 things to set it up I voted for breakfast several times we came within 3 balls and 7 sorry so on the 14th of September 2716 you voted to remain a member of the European Union after the referendum what did your constituents for Graham saw with offset the Globe parties voted for perhaps several times we've come within 3 in 7 votes of securing not BRICs it. It's obviously contentious at the treasonist like a speech she feels a Labor party out so we came up with our own policy for Bracks it the other thing. Is is not bluster So let's just what will speak to great but the Bracks Party candidate short. Just continue for a 2nd round Jones I want interrupt Lee of this. And the 2nd thing I'd say is that treason May was given a majority she had a majority for 3 years her 20316 M.P.'s bills 10 do you pay it was no need for the opposition the opposition don't have the numbers it's a numbers game could not block Breck's it the people who voted against blacks are involved against treasonist deal or for example Boris Johnson who repeatedly voted against it repeatedly voted against trees amazed when they had a majority and he took that majority away from here well I mean let's just talk the people of time and when they go to vote will want to know what is going to happen in the future when it comes to bricks is there a chance under the Labor Party that we could remain a member of the European Union you have course the rest because what we've said we'll do is we'll negotiate a better deal we have to me or see a better deal everybody that wrote to me 90 percent of people wrote to me in this constituency said Trees are made steel was a bad deal so all fair enough it's a bad deal I thought it was a bad deal of altered against it that's what constituents asked me to do overwhelmingly in their hundreds it got 40 down nor substantial deals can forward accept the deal put forward by the Labor Party which without doubt the best deal the race following that that will be put to the public to reason I couldn't do it Boris Johnson couldn't do it what makes you think Jeremy Corbin can negotiate a better deal well because when we went into the last election it was pretty obvious that 130 right wing Tories were not going to support trees in there and if she tilted towards those people the 81 nation Tories were not going to support or the other way you probably needed to elect 450 Conservative M.P.'s to get Bracks it done in the Labor Party there's probably about 10 people who disagree with our policy you probably only need to elect 330 Labor M.P.'s to get bricks at dawn and that's a mathematical fact that is where we were in 2017 that is where we are now but I do say this at the end. It is for the public to decide they said we will put this back to the public great but the breaks apart are well that's just completely disingenuous I'm I've never heard such rubbish in my life I mean the Labor Party by their own by Corbin's admission yesterday they're going to create or they're going to negotiate his front bench of form Bre sed Kyrgyzstan are they going to negotiate and add another brick sit another another withdrawal agreement I mean all of those people are absolutely against it in the 1st place so where's the credibility in that there is absolutely no credibility in that so we can be faced Should there be a miscalculation and Graeme Jones got reelected we could be faced with an effective if verses sorry of an effective remaining verses an actual remain so where's the choice there 66 to 7 just to pull you up on that you use as a party you're pro democracy you save Jones get elected it will be a miscalculation Surely that's just democracy Well well it is but it's democracy in a thick system isn't it we've got a 2 party system a 1st past the post system where people are kind of faced with the who's the worst who's the best according to my wishes or my view what we need is proper proportional representation so everybody's vote counts in this election not everybody votes everyone's vote is going to count and that's a problem and the people are getting tired too tired of this 2 party system and frankly it's time for change we need a top down or bottom up I think bottom up is a better way of describing a complete change of politics the old system of a no this kind of tribal 2 party system is kind of not suited to the 21st century when we have kind of social media and all the new technologies coming in it's archaic So if you became the next m.p. For Hine say the BRICs a party got a majority what would they do when it comes to press where we would hold Boris Johnson's feet to the fire of a great city we would make sure the. You know the the last Bush proportion 2 out of 3 people that voted in the referendum in this constituency voted to leave so I would up hold that I would up hold the will of this with a do always know you know we need a clean break so no do it's a clean break there's no such thing as a no deal there's good that they're out there agreements in place already there will be agreements we see the European Union we're going they're going to say Come on let's talk about it we're about if there was to be a no deal a clean break as you call it would be large losses in jobs particularly in manufacturing sector in the sector in East Lancashire is is that the case you think that would happen or is that just scaremongering with substance coming and this is no facts here there's absolutely no facts here there's there's kind of opinion and people that make these forecasts have consistently consistently been wrong I mean take the referendum result itself look I'm going over a grand this is being well rehearsed you know what if we voted to leave then the economy was going to crash it didn't there are more people in work the economy has actually thrived So if you then got to take it on to its logical conclusion what will stop us when we're free of the European Union kind of single market which is a protectionist organization let's not forget that it's actually stopping business in this country well Katrina brought bank is standing for the Green party she says the Green Party a remain Party who believe that to fight the climate emergency we stand a better chance as part of a unified Europe she says the climate knows no borders and the time and energy spent arguing over bricks it could be better spent tackling the biggest crisis of our time she says the Green Party are aware that European Parliament isn't perfect and requires transformation and she says they are committed to reform I don't Wallace like for the Liberal Democrats I think you've seen the problem here that when we had the referendum there were loads of different promises made that we were going to effectively remain part of the single market or this would be the easiest trade deal ever and we've seen here 3 completely deaf. And approaches to Bragg's it none of which were really on the table people didn't speak honestly about the compromises that would have to be made of either having sort of a very hard dragnet which would be damaging to the economy but would get us out or having some agreement which would involve our closer ties with the customs union which would be less hard on the economy but would remain we would remain cool takers rather than being able to take part democratically in the rule making process as part of the European Parliament and therefore you've got people who disagree to both sides people who are saying you know the European Union is some kind of neo liberal agenda on one side saying they want to exit and people either who's saying that basically it's a socialist experiment obviously these 2. These 2 kind of opinions are completely different people voted for grabs it for different reasons when you say. People don't miss them whether we could leave with no deal with good do with a good deal how doors the Liberal Democrats national policy of council and Bracks all together remaining in the European Union go down when your knocking on doors in a constituency that voted overwhelmingly to leave the European Union would start off with a lot of people have said to me that actually their priority is not you are their priority is making sure that we're funding our n.h.s. Funding our schools we're making people pay the taxes are to do where it is protecting the environment and protecting the country and the world for future generations the simplest way to do that would be to evoke Article 50 and a majority Liberal Democrat government would revoke Article 50 on day one it'd be over end of none of this argument none of this division however we have equally said that if we were in a position where Democrats could influence a situation regarding drugs that we would accept a people's vote where it was different opinions somebody goes negotiate whatever plan they want we put it on the table we have a definite plan something that people can actually you know criticize not some promises made by the people like by this Johnson who finally have completely shown their absolute ignorance of how the European Union works how economies work. This would be something that people could actually vote on and actually make a mind to make make their minds up knowing what the actual consequences are what we've heard from some of our candidates that breaks it is the biggest issue of the election our Green Party candidate says it's the environment labor constantly trying to reinforce the message that this is the election of the n.h.s. Is not the case grown Jones Well it is the n.h.s. Some public services have up 10 years of austerity on the doorstep that is the issue on the doorstep people in this area are struggling listen to some of the things that have been said they're not factually correct for example unemployment risen from 2.4 percent to 5.6 percent while since we've had the referendum in this constituency that was obvious because we have marginal employment it was easy to predict and we haven't yet left the European Union so people are struggling and we've got to focus on things lotro Blackmon let's get down to the practicalities the conservative closed are walking center it's now over 2 weeks average waiting time to get a g.p. Appointment. We've got people on trolleys we've got the b.b.c. Going insane look at all these queues it in a in a this is that this is terrible for people we've got all people in the ninety's suffering because they can't get the services they require from our n.h.s. The other issues of policing we had our police corps over 800 police courts and now when we talk about the going to put some police back on the bait the song Talk least 150 well that still leaves us 650 police short and it's just not good enough crimes rising on our schools have been underfunded you talk about 10 years of austerity years of underfunding when the coalition government came into power in 27 they inherited a budget deficit of 149000000000 pounds from labor. There was an international global crisis that started in America the Americans predicted it in 2006 said they had a problem it spread to Western Europe it spread to all the Contras it spread to the Globe Britain got swept up in that we have a big banking industry so we were more obviously affected than all this but if we go back to the argument what we didn't regulate the banking sector enough but who was it was telling us not to regulate the banking sector anymore George Osborne and David Cameron saying that there's too much red tape on banking too much regulation and don't regulate any more you know and so the Labor government didn't regulate it and what did we get we got this global catastrophe that swept through Western Europe the United Kingdom and we were badly affected by it under a new Labor government you would invest billions of pounds into the n.h.s. Most of which would be raised through tax revenues John McDonnell has admitted that entrepreneurs and small businesses will pay more tax on the labor how do you think that will go down with people like the stallholders here acting to market Well I don't think we're targeting small businesses at all quite the opposite when you look at the stuff that we're doing on the street if you mention that market stall olders we're trying to invest in those businesses and make them grow will pay more tax on the labor Well John might have said that I'll need to look at the details but as far as I'm concerned you look at our financial proposals most of the tax cons for the top 10 for a corporation tax for example for raising taxes on those earning on more than $125000.00 pounds a year those are where the tax that is the tax revenue base for Labour's manifesto and under a new Labor government people earning over 800000 people earning over $80000.00 pounds a year would pay more tax people like doctors people at surgeons and people at dentists are can you still say you're the party of the n.h.s. So that tax rate is $40.00 to $45.00 p. I don't think that's a staggering increase in tax but there's all sorts axes on those who are also reclaiming all the tax back from those that taxes offshore starting with the big corporate. You're up all you go girl all of those are your Amazon you pay next to nor tax reclaiming tax from them reclaiming tax from those who think they can offshore all the profits to the Cayman islands wherever else all the giveaways have been given on inheritance tax a 1000000 pounds who has a 1000000 pounds there are a lot of there's been a growing gap between the rich and the poor and somebody some government has a duty to bring this back together so that we're one society and I do agree with the point I don't know what you do with a 1000000000 pounds if you had it however you know we've got a duty to make sure that those at the bottom just don't feed the wealth of those at the top and some government must act and this Labor government will act so reckless What would the conservatives do for the n.h.s. So we've already heard the announcement of 33900000000 going back into our n.h.s. Really when you look at spending plans it's a bankruptcy notice for the many not for the few. What their plan to do is drive out investment from the care we are seeing that there are going to be more apartments made with g.p.s. There's a 1000 pound Personal Development Fund going to each ness we're seeing 6000 more nurses 6000 more doctors now. What it seems to be is liberal use the exact same employ in every election and it will continue but we nor that the Conservative Party are putting record amounts of investment back into our n.h.s. And back into public services and we're seeing that already but they have to use the same employ again and again to scaremonger people and you build 40 new hospitals that's rising in hospitals is it but this seed funding going into the hospitals to develop that seed funding isn't isn't money to build new hospitals is it it's it's a very very small amount of money to look at the possibility of maybe building a hospital so I think we are seeing money going back into building our hospitals the 40 new hospitals that have been announced is completely changing so is your hospitals that need the investment going into them so in fact they will be new hospitals because they're getting this money to go into them there might be new hospitals there's no guarantee you've given 100000000 pounds to look at feasibility studies for 34 of those new hospitals the other 6 have been guaranteed funding for an upgrade but for the $34.00 it's only a very very small amount of money how can you go out on the doorstep and say I can categorically guarantee the conservatives will build $40.00 new hospitals it's just not true well I think that the fact that they are looking at the hospitals that need this fund in and I say look we understand that development needs to come about and the fact that they are targeting these hospitals and saying the funding is gone going to be available develop a plan let's have a look at that plan and let's see whether it is possible but what we have we I mean I think it was labor in 2017 said they were only going to invest 2.2 percent more on their budget in 2019 we are actually putting 3.4 percent more in grown Jones talks about issues at the Royal blood and hospital there are issues within our n.h.s. Within Lakisha some would say that. Those have been exacerbated over the past 10 years the past 10 years when the conservatives in one form or another have been in power and that's why I'm glad to see that our government now is putting the money back into our own it s. Back into education I mean with Labor's plan next year to possibly have not only one but 2 referendums how can we foreclose on our vital services when this is going to come about with a coalition of chaos which could be possible we don't even know Labor stands Jeremy Corbyn cannot tell us whether we would campaign for his all new deal or campaign to remain sub How can they say it to trust them when they can't even be honest with the voters great book when people come in to polling day looking at the cross in different boxes one of the big issues going through their mind will be the n.h.s. When people think of the bricks of party do you think they will think the party or the party to save our n.h.s. I want to say 1st up to to Graham that corporation time x. Is paid by every business that is limited whatever the size so market traders so traders small traders they will all contribute to the fantasy economics and the fantasy manifesto that was unleashed here stand we've got 2 parties playing kind of top trumps with n.h.s. Throwing billions of pounds at them I mean one party that is kind of poised to crash the entire economy it wants us all to be equal we will be equal in the bottom rung and run of the ladder. The other thing that I want to make is the biggest threat Well a big threat to the n.h.s. Is the European Union and people seem to kind of forget this all the talk is that you know Trump is going to come on by bits of the bits of the n.h.s. Which which frankly is is is nonsense but the European Union if they negotiate a trade deal with the states the states could quite literally legitimately impose on your. piñon A a condition on state funding and the European Union to figure out that point would be by qualified majority voting so in that case if we were in the European Union or even if we were in some kind of Quasar I kind of arrangement with the European Union then we would have no influence on that decision at all whereas if we leave and we negotiate our own deals trade deals and all the rest of it then we can absolutely say hands off the n.h.s. Because there just is not for sale under the Rex a body we've got staffing issues in a lot of our hospitals and doctors surgeries across like a ship as things stand some people would argue that to solve those staffing issues we would need to increase net immigration levels to bring more doctors and nurses into this country is that something you look at there well I think we're up about 6 percent I think of staff be correct on that I think about 6 percent come from the European Union I think 6 percent come from the rest of the world I mean the vast majority of people who work in the n.h.s. Come from this country clearly we have to provide the bursaries and the assistance and the encouragement to get people in and through the medical professions I mean I think this kind of absolute kind of insistence insistence and everybody having to have a had a degree to take part in got a midriff with real nursing or whatever I think we should kind of just look at that and see if we can just open up to a much wider section of the population that don't necessarily want to kind of go for a good degree entry I mean my sister and to enter the n.h.s. As a nurse with fiber levels and she ended she ended up actually as a lecturer in nursing so I don't see that we should actually insist on people having open barriers in front of actually recruitment and we should target recruitment little bit better I mean you know we should actually try and impose some kind of restrictions on people who have been taken through the system and had their kind of courses paid for our children bursaries here they're showing some some card. Something in place to stop them you're just going overseas or whatever I mean I think people have a should have a loyalty to this country to their profession Adam Wallace like for the Liberal Democrats the 2 main parties each so they are the party of the n.h.s. Do you think that's the case one of those is the party of the n.h.s. I think you've seen both these parties fail on the n.h.s. Because been used as a political football for so long people kind of you said there promising this promising that we would have a clear contrast day one promise would be that we would have some modest tax increase including one pence on income tax that would generate $7000000000.00 pounds a year which goes straight into the n.h.s. Plus $10000000000.00 pounds for capital investment to make sure we funding our n.h.s. Properly but we have to look at the long term because we don't want base continuous get elected in the funding goes down in the funding goes up and we want to set up a commission of a look at the long term funding of the n.h.s. Get all parties around the table include people from Mark the 3rd sector people who are experts in this and have a firm plan for funding the n.h.s. In the long term so we don't 6 the last thing I want to donate is work is for this to be used as a political football and be a debating talk like every single election I mean we have a new elections every 2 years it's too much we need to take it out out of the hands of politicians and have a longer term vision on this we'd also committed to making sure that mental health was funded properly and just going back I think one of the biggest things we can do is remain in the European Union the 2 reasons for that is that a will gives remain bonus of estimate about 50000000000 pounds of public funds. The 2nd thing is as we've pointed out. A large number of qualified staff are from the European Union now whilst Mr what is correct on the number of e.u. Workers in the n.h.s. Where you have to remember is that the movie you work is increases you look at more qualified members the staff the people who need specific skills so it when case of doctors is about 10 percent of the workforce if that 10 percent below unwelcome and leave that's going to be a massive problem for an h s we're not going to be able to cope with it said I started university in 2003 and I became a consultant 2 years ago that's you know the best part of 15 years so if we decide to start funding places now which we should we should absolutely be funny more nursing places Mamita if we places more places to train doctors more medical places but it is going to take time to come through and we cannot cut ourselves off. From the European Union because it will cause a massive. Exodus of workers and his proposals that he's almost proposing exit control is going to stop doctors at the border we overwhelm you know this well we're just we're just I just wish it was just I would just write which will be a great go because they have to pay back part of their training or that's wrong with the one point when nearly as I'm just a very just a very just that just thank you just a very quick question we're nearly out of time Jones the Labor Party candidate pointed out that in his opinion over the last 10 years the n.h.s. Has been starved of funding for 5 of those 10 years the Liberal Democrats were coalition partners do you feel feel guilt for No I don't because if you look at the position that we were in in terms of how quickly we closed the deficit gap it really is it is nowhere near what the conservatives originally promised it got bogged down below the level that was promised by Alistair Darling Aston darling ran in 20 tend to be your. Chancellor and his promises were very very similar to what actually got in acted so this idea that if you voted for Labor in 2010 you'd have had you know no. To any service ever it's completeness or nonsense look at Rina brought back you standing for the Green party she says the Greens would increase n.h.s. Funded by $6000000000.00 pounds per year with further funding to support nursing bursaries raised by changes to tax policy she says the Green Party would increase access to mental health services in addition to evolution of health care with more control being given back to communities well that's it from Akron some market thanks to all of the candidates who are standing in. The Conservative Party Katrina brought by the Green Party Greg but from the backs of party grown junk the Labor Party candidate Adam Wallace like from the Liberal Democrats you can join me again bright and early tomorrow morning when are we putting your questions to the parliamentary candidates for Blackpool south. Radio with the latest news this morning here's Sharon hardly thank you Graeme Good morning Lancashire is launching the vision for its bid to be City of Culture in 2025 is the 1st bit of its kind with a focus on rural communities as well as cities and urban areas Jeremy Corbyn has admitted those on low incomes could pay more tax and a future Labor government the party has previously said the town. People owning over $80000.00 pounds will be forced to pay more income tax and national insurance the European parliament will vote this morning to approve new members of the European Commission but for the 1st time in more than 40 years they'll be no British candidates on the list plans for the Eden Project in Morcombe will totally transform the town according to the people behind the development it's estimated that the attraction could bring 3 quarters of a 1000000 visitors each year.
