Injuries So how about this Dottie for a start Ok 2 weeks into the new season 5 teams already in a complete mess because of I'm sure that's not how they put it well to be fair they might do because you know this is a real problem these teams are struggling because they've got real issues in their most important position which is quarterback Ok so we have the Jacksonville Jaguars . So Nick Foles is their quarterback they got him from Philadelphia Eagles You know this season. He has a broken collarbone out for a long time so they've got the rookie 6 rounder gonna Minshew in Instead the Saints New Orleans Saints they're going to be starting probably Teddy Bridgewater might be Tatum Hill because of Drew Brees having a film injury watch that happening in the night wasn't very nice openness with the we've got the Giants That's a massive story Eli Manning finally being put out to pasture it seems and they're going to get the rookie 1st round of Daniel Jones is going to start for them the Steelers Ben Roethlisberger massive name in the n.f.l. He's out for the season with an elbow injury so Mason Rudolph's going to starve them and then you've got the New York Jets. How about this for a start of the season the main player some darn old has got what the Americans call min or more no nucleosynthesis what we call glandular fever Ok so that's him in serious trouble for a bit anyway because he can't take any sort of contact because if you take contact while you've got that and he hits your spleen your spleen might explode that's no noise no no quite so they brought in Trevor Simeon to play against the even Browns who think our seasoning inveighing ankle injury in the 1st game they're now back to their 3rd quarterback who is Luke folk who nobody really knows anything about to be honest with you is a bit mad so I thought let's get Cindy Boren the sports reporter for The Washington Post to come and tell us about all of this Cindy what is going on is mad isn't it well if it really is you know for for the last couple of years we've talked about this all quarterbacks you know playing into their forty's and all that and we're headed into week 3 of this season and the way it looks right now there will be 19 count of 19 quarterbacks 26 or under you know and there could be 20. If we if Cam Newton can't play he's hurt he's banged up hasn't looked like himself so you know you're seeing missing people that you're not really are aware of like for instance Jackson now where Gardner Minshew the 2nd has stepped up and he's actually playing really well he is has quite a story he's quite a quite a character and you know the n.f.l. Kind of needs that right now because you have all these young guys that nobody really knows anything about well this is the extraordinary thing I was talking about the teams themselves and which ones are going to cope best but familiar Vicomte a big story around this is that this is all for news for the n.f.l. Commercially because actually these are but you know someone like Ben Roethlisberger is a face is in the in the a not not just literally but he's a big face in the n.f.l. He's a big man telling you. That's why they call it a ban thank you so I wasn't being particularly great even I don't feel I was free but he's easy huge face in the n.f.l. Isn't it and so actually the n.f.l. Must be looking at this ongoing peace is just really bad for us isn't it well you know it the n.f.l. Has been sort of Teflon nothing really seems to stick to them when it comes to their popularity so we'll see how that works you know I mean these guys are going to play forever anyway there had to be a change at some point for instance in Pittsburgh Let's stick. As an example you know they haven't they've they've been struggling the last couple of years the Pittsburgh fan fan base. Was kind of getting to the point of thinking you know what maybe it's time to see what Mason Rudolph can do they drafted him with an eye toward kind of developing him and you know. Nobody wants to see Ben Roethlisberger get hurt but them but some of the steelers fans like chalk to have said you know let's see what this other what this kid can do and I think a lot of teams feel that way right now I you know certainly they feel that way in New York with. Manning sitting on the bench now you know that that's been coming for a couple of years those drums and the drum beat has been sounding for going a couple of years on one Corey like Manning Yeah he really hasn't impressed has he recently and he almost felt like he was being given a couple of weeks to just let Daniel Jones bet in and then he would go he's going to make stuff yeah you know 2 years ago Ben McAdoo when he was the coach tried to bench Eli in fact he did well he said to Eli You know I'll let you start because he had this massive consecutive game streak of 230 some games training 33 games going in and now is you know like to start with I'm going to call you in and I'm going to you know bring in someone else and Manning said you know what now I'll just end this trick myself you. You can start I don't even remember who it was and it didn't go very well and next thing you know Eli was back starting in the following week. I think the problem right now is with the Giants they're like that they haven't been good early in the season them good period and for the last couple of years and what they need to do right now is commit to Daniel Jones the worst thing in mentionable would be to see them off and go back to Eli Manning and you know struggles for a game or 2 because they look I don't you know they're kind of putting themselves in a difficult position all because if any of these young people come in and then fail that's going to do you then very well shall we go back to the previous ones so yeah it's not easy is it said Elise No it isn't and you know it's rather sad to see it happened you know I mean. He was very funny about it you know and he was very special about it he said well look you know I'm not dying in the season well the Giants are 0 into the season is. You know if they drop to 0 in 3 This isn't going to be so young anymore it must make it there is indeed a good season to be a rookie I mean it sounds like this right some of these teams are going to be calling I mean James. Well can you pass. That we could see stars being born this season Take for instance Gardner mention playing for the Jaguars against the Titans You know let's replay now by the way it's 40 nothing to that I guess and you know he's been lighting it up he came in for Nick Foles in the 1st game you know. They weren't they were going to win that game and then he came he played last week and they almost won. Against the Texans if the coach had decided not to give him the ball on the ext conversion they would have they would have won if they had given him they didn't. You know he's had an 80 percent completion rate he's he's very good he was a 6th round draft pick he led the nation in scoring last year a lot of Washington state and you know they appear to have found a guy who is poised and can play the game you know and when you kind of look at it you look at Nick Foles and you think oh what's going to happen when Nicole's collarbone heels and oh about week a leavening he's ready to play again you know the same old story with Nicole seeing her in part Tyson went to where he's going to stay I stay 2nd to be extraordinary I want to know no one more tough tough decision yeah one more question Cindy I mean we keep coming back to this you know we've been doing this program for a year now and every few weeks you seen this been the cap and it question coming up . Look if all of these players all of these cool backs are getting injured and if the agent of coming up and he's going round to all the franchises going Collins available he's in the best shape of his life which of the quotes that we say and they're still not picking him up there's no chances he's never going to come back in the n.f.l. . I think if no one's going to pick him up it would seem that they have a they're correct when they say that there's sort of a conspiracy homeowners to to keep him out of the league you know they they don't want him back when they're playing guys you know when they're playing guys that nobody's heard of. You can't help but come to that conclusion that's unfortunate because well I'm calling cabinet went to the Super Bowl Yeah but you know nobody none of the none of the teams is willing to take a risk where there we go thanks so much Cindy Boren from The Washington Post they're looking into all the quarterback stuff and if you want to get in touch he can do any time would you want to do the owners of the how we'd like to get in touch so you can text on 85058 you can e-mail appointed b.b.c. Doco u.k. And you can also call if I can do you can now we're going to anyone who is Ok I don't do carrier pigeon I mean worth trying you could send down the ship canal on a boat if you wanted to again that would be very creative I'd be impressed be it be funny be something a bit different yes or no which is all we can ask Santa for Yes Anyway if you want to get in touch get your flags out Come on tell us if you want to get in touch with as you can do and we're going to talk more about quarterbacks and about the n.f.l. Just after half past so 8558 talk at b.b.c. 5 live online on social media right let's do a bit of this Tom. But. The man in. The school the barber the new. Boston to you I really should start talking something. I wish you could see him dancing to it's really beautiful and I love that it's my favorite one so as we've mentioned the football season is now underway but the baseball season is kind of coming to a bit of a close it while we're getting towards the finals and then on to the World Series so I've been speaking to Ben Carter from our friends at backflips a nerd's the u.k. Based baseball blog to follow them please they're lovely and anyway we may have been started by talking about the New York Yankees Yeah. I think we all expectancy really get this season and with Yankees name comes a lot of expectation but this. And that's kind of been against the odds for them because they've had so many players down with injuries big star names smaller pieces too so it's been a real sort of touch work team they put together over the remarkably they're still pacing to be with the best teams in baseball so it's so the team and the coaching staff that are there for the fact that it's go such it's yeah and patchouli they're doing pretty well for home runs as well this season which is kind of Us been a surprise release and yeah doing afterwards home runs I mean home runs are up across baseball this year a lot seem to saying records but the Yankees certainly been one of the best teams so that the Bronx Bombers living up to their name like you mentioned a bit of a surprise given some of the names that are coming up with these months for them but they've always been ones that were more fences and then this is the exception I think we should also talk a little bit about the Red Sox as well and not in the postseason picture boat has to be said why why is that happening because they've been a complete kind of bust this year have only yesterday massive shocker I mean after last year when when it dominated everyone in front of them had a pretty impressive and runs at the World Series I think we expected them to at least try and produce an encore performance this year it just hasn't happened and it's hard to pinpoint the exact reason they struggled on offense they haven't got the starting pitching acquired they've also suffered from a few injuries and it's just been a bit of a last season for them so I think fans are scratching their head wondering you know where it all went wrong let's have a look at the Central then and the Minnesota Twins have had an excellent season as well it had a really good season you're probably the surprise pick of the year for most people they were expected to be quite this year coming into the season phenomenal they've been other team that had a lot of home runs surprisingly so again lucky to be that had a record number of players hit at least 30 home runs in a real fun team to watch and they don't really get much credit for out Minnesota not not big baseball city not known for having a sickly good team in the last 2 years but yeah a fantastic underdog story for them and they shouldn't be underestimated into the postseason because I'll be a tough force in that I want to talk a little bit about the a yes as well because I think they've just been. They've been a bit of a surprise some of the Oakland A's I mean they're they're kind of at the same position they were out last season but that in itself is a bit of a surprise that they managed to keep it going is yeah I mean they're sort of the perennial underdogs everyone's 2nd team you never really know what to expect from them and I'm one of those people who every year writes them off as a composite they do it again and every year then it looks silly because they come out and they find a way to win they produce brilliant young players they find you know brilliant bargains out there in a free agent market and this has been no exception as you say you know that they're on course to contend for a place in the sport probably got one and I hope this is a yes let's take it one step further it's been quite a few years now I mean probably 1520 years since many people 1st came out and you know the general manager Billy Beane of the Oakland A's is still there and doing his he says still is is the Moneyball thing still a thing essential easier still possible to do Moneyball nowadays when everybody knows that you're doing Moneyball I think that the ideas of Moneyball as it was then probably been adopted by every team in the Major Leagues you know so or you dice it seems kind of comes terms of that but the ideas behind Moneyball the sort of theory of a funny competitive advantage where you can is death is something that the so small market teams have to be doing every year 'd to compete because when you look at the payroll differences between you know the A's and the Yankees there's no other way striking it with them and I think it's a testament to the job that Billy Beane and everyone else not far off is done that they every year find a way to find these players that everyone else in the league doesn't seem to to rate as highly and they produce brilliant stars out there so whilst you know maybe those ideas from Moneyball which as you say was a good 1520 years ago now have changed I think that that core tenet of finding undervalued players and producing value and different ways still very much on streets of them lesser just have a look as well as the National League and who else we think can can do really well you've got your eye on. I think the teams keep your eye on if you're looking for a potential World Series when it has to be the l.a. Dodgers or really glamorous team out in the West and winning that division for I think a good 6 or 7 years now sort of becoming the Yankees of the National League in a way with the way they dominate with with big payrolls and superstars so it's hard to look beyond them as a favor in the national they've already clinched the division we should cite that's already sort of their vision set likely to be the number one seed coming out the National League that's got potential m.v.p. M.v.p. . So they're definitely the glittering stars out an hour or so seats on that team that are the names that people will recognize and think well you know that's why they've been so well. I think that the biggest name in terms of recognizability would reportedly Clayton Kushal who's been the best pitcher in the major leagues for quite some time now he's sort of lost the sheen of his younger years but even now and he's in a sort of young to mid thirty's he's one of the best pitchers out there and he's been the face of that franchise for going on a decade now but I guess the players he quickly went home he's been outstanding for them this season is Cody Ballenger He's a young 1st baseman who has really set the world like the u.s. Fantastic last season they saying it's a new level this year looks like it's a to win the m.v.p. Award as I said to the nationally so that's definitely a name that people might not know but come this time next year you've certainly been hearing it so we spoke about the the l.a. Dodgers then who else do you think we should be looking out thinking well you know there's a potential round the world series going on here so the National League really interesting and the Atlanta Braves out in the East have got a really good young team they've also wrapped up a post seasons or they look like they're going to be a force to reckon with but apart from them it's been pretty mediocre across the lake it's on the stand out teams so you know a lot of races are going to go down to the wire these next couple of weeks and it's going to be fun to see who comes out on skates or where the playoffs ball going and as we know well in baseball anything can happen in the postseason so far these teams does get hall event in the season but not that many wins if you can put together a nice run in October you can. So it's really hard and they see that any of these teams the Chicago Cubs I create success before the Washington Nationals are having a really nice season so any of these teams if they can have a good final 2 weeks they can be tough to be and give us just an idea of of the shuttle from now on how long is left in the regular season and then how long until the World Series so there's roughly 2 weeks left in the regular season we'll see at this point the games are really important because we'll get hair that can be the difference between going into the postseason missing out completely and you have to be in it to win it of course and then once the postseason starts you've got a sore series of wild card games of. Quarterfinal equivalents in the division series the semifinal governments around the world series itself kicks off at the end of October and that's a best of 7 series between the best international league best American League in the last 2 years been treated so not so expect schools and those games as well as set your alarm really morning in getting us watch or listening to us of course thanks very much to Ben Carter from bat flips and knows the u.k. Based baseball blog always good to catch up with them let's switch sports again shall we. We are already into the post season in women's basketball in the w. N.b.a. We are all 4 teams left now we have the last Vegas a season the Washington Mystics we have the Los Angeles Sparks and the Connecticut Sun delighted to welcome back to the program great to Galligan who is I go to do you m.b.a. Person I'm not sure that you're official title right Joe but I think we'll go with it is all right I love it great I'm down with that and it's good to good well thanks for coming back look there's a game on going isn't there at the moment so tell us what's going on. Yeah Right now the Washington Mystics they've pretty much been in control over the Las Vegas aces it's still in the 1st half just about into halftime but they're leading Vegas 50 to 42 these are 2 really intense offensive teams not a whole lot of defense being played so far so the Misses took game one as well so just remind us how many there are in the series how many games yeah so we were in the semifinals right now of the playoffs in the way the format is semifinals are Best Of series and so I had to hold on to a used just the horrible moment where the ice time will skyrocket south of exactly the wrong 2nd route how many how many games in the series it's a it's a best of 5 game series Thank you carry on. Now it's a best a 5 game series and honestly I mean we had a sparks in the kinetic sun which wrapped up just before this game started I mean Connecticut was in complete control of that game so they're going to go up to nothing and then continued their home went straight but now they head over to Las Vegas and the interesting part about these 2 teams are they're both really dominant at home so it was really important that Connecticut got the 1st 2 at home and now they're going to head over to l.a. Who's been just as dominant in Los Angeles so it will be an interesting series but the game tonight was dominant performance by the sun Yeah so let's talk a little bit then if we can about a couple of the players involved I mean I've just seen the the forward for the Washington mistakes Alina del a Don and I really hope I said that correctly. And you and you are close yeah yeah I can help I think I think I means no did they help you so politely and I thought you did well no saying u.k. Based baseball blog yeah yeah everybody go on to help us out Rachel it's Elaine done Ok lovely I wasn't far off. Anyway Elena Della Dawn was named the m.v.p. Wasn't she all Thursday so how she'd. I'm playing in the semifinals Lane has been playing fantastic I mean tonight they says are really spending a lot of traps that they're doing a really good job of forcing Washington to take shots from someone else but she's got 8 points at half and she tends to have a big 3rd quarter sometimes big time 4th quarter is that she needs to take over that the good end of the game but honestly she's been phenomenal this year it was should have been a huge unanimous vote in terms of her getting the m.v.p. She's just a player in the world right now so what is it that makes her so good because I was you know I've kind of followed the game a little bit from this side of the island not exactly the easiest thing to do I know there's some really good players over that So what is it she's bringing to the mystics. The thing about Elena is is she's really defines the term position must pass that ball you know a 65 she's got a point guard skills but she can play with her back to the basket as a 5 player so she can play any position one through 5. She's able to really be a mismatch on the d. For defenses because if you're going to guard her with a bigger player she can face up and again drive past you if you're going to guard on the block she's got the quickness to get around you so she can really stretch the floor and like I said she's just a match up nightmare for her opponents and honestly she's a major threat offensively she was the 1st female player in the history of women's basketball at that specially that n.b.a. Level to break the $54090.00 record in right now there's about 9 players most of all of 8 of them on the on from the n.b.a. But it was the 1st woman to break into that category and what that means is for the for the course of the season she shot over 50 percent from the field she shot over 40 percent from the 3 point line for the season and she shot over 90 percent as a free throw shooter so that's the really elite category that she has put herself into so she's a major office of threat but you know she has the lead. And the versatility to be a great defender too she's just she's reinventing the game of basketball for women all over the world brilliant and if we look at the popularity of the m.b.a. At the moment I mean I see so much more on social media fades and I think ever before do we get a sense of this is a game that is is booming at the moment. Absolutely yes I think it started you know these last few years and a lot of it and part of it could be biased because of my ties with the college basketball world a lot started with the Final 42 years ago went which got a ton of attention and arguably was way more popular than the ones that year with Notre Dame winning the national championship and the last 2nd shot that I think was probably seen all over the world and that really has carried over into that and again we're seeing the most competitive talented players women that we've ever seen in the world and I know over here in the States it's I mean it's the most popular game for us and I've heard I don't know the stats I don't want to send anybody in the u.k. But being the most popular game in the world so. As women we're seeing that really rollover into our end to end a ton of investment going into anatomic growth it's certainly one of the biggest growing sports in the u.k. If not the the quickest growing sport at the moment is basketball brilliant thanks so much rightful and absolute pleasure to have you on I think we'll probably end up calling in a few weeks and find out who's won the whole thing in fact a little while that I look forward to it and you so much in the meantime I'm going to write out Elena Della Dawn 25 times like I was there you go. Now you're talking about theme change. Themes So do you recognize this will. And how this will be on trees Nope but would I be wrong would I be wrong to assume that it's cool something to do with North American school you are correct it happens is it a baseball film it sees a baseball film. I don't think it's Moneyball it's not Moneyball it's good it's a good guess I mean I'm at this point I'd be running out baseball I'm very much I've run out of but I find this is a thank you to Mario Michel in Martinez California by the way suggested this this is Field of Dreams James Horner like that. Well you know we're going to be talking more about maybe themes action about half an hours time we will be hearing from the son of one of the all time movie theme writers Elmer Bernstein there's a big concert this weekend celebrating one of his most famous works which is the theme from The Great Escape it's got to be one of the most memorable film themes of all time so looking for your favorite movie music rose in Bristol says authors theme by Christopher Cross but Carol by a Sega and Peter Allen from the film Arthur which is a beautiful and very funny love story we're hoping to play some of your top picks after 3 o'clock by the way so stick around movie music say is yet another Steve from Belfast his words not mine and a thing by lay low shifts in or Jerry Goldsmith crisscrossed say bells from the x. Right and welcome back to the North American sports show section of a pool night. And Aussie McLeod and we're going to go back and talk about this. I think we have real I mean that is the cheesiest thing I could find this hour I did the full I think you are you ready I'm always ready for always ready for some football Well look let's introduce a couple of people because I want to talk specifically about the Miami Dolphins. I don't like to slag it seem off but they all rubbish absolutely hopelessly my little heart you know it's not honestly but it is kind of on purpose we think so let's talk a bit more banks because Rob jelly presents the early wobble of b.b.c. Radio Essex on air in an hour and 20 minutes is that Roy Roper Yeah yeah exams he's a Dolphins fan he plays the game him self as well we're going to talk to you a bit more about that actually Rob in a few minutes but you know as a Dolphins fan we thought you'd also like to talk to Lisa Johnson who's the official Miami Dolphins reporter fact our turf f.b.a. Dot com How are you Lisa I am doing very well how are you know I'm very well let's start in Miami if you don't mind I mean at least so War is war is going on because it's it's shocking isn't it they've played 2 games they've lost both of them absolutely horrendously heavily we've now got Ryan Fitz Magic who isn't actually magic at all at the moment Fitzpatrick and I'm Israeli But you know. Anyway I've seen him now changed what is it people calling him Brian Fitz tragic which is really harsh Anyway he's being benched So they're now going to bring in Josh Rosen as the starting quarterback one of the Miami Dolphins so bad. Well we talked about it before the season started several times when you looked at this roster you knew it wasn't going to be very good quite frankly a lot of people in the media sort talked about this roster. When you go into a very build you sort of expect this thing and that's what's kind of the tank issue is kind of taken that over where you have a beat writer that decided to say Ok well let's suffer luck Ok that kind of took off Ok now we're going to tank for tuna you know so it's it's it's more or less it's like just like with Jimmy Johnson there are a lot of these younger fans don't realize this n.f.l. Teams are built through the draft they always happen I mean you can take Jimmy Johnson he came in and looked at the value of his roster Ok Where where are my players going to be what can I get for these players because they're not my players you know I have a plan turned out I mean I know what I want well look at her so Walker fan favorite own their egos that trade was you know Cowboy fans are crazy oh my gosh you covered our best player of course I did because the next couple of years I've gotten a sense met and Irvin the nucleus of the ninety's Dynasty Cowboys so I personally see it that way I'm not taking I just think that was a social media thing and now all the sudden 1st 2 games we dropped which we kind of knew we knew this was going to be a rough year we knew this was going to be resolved and we know this bad no but look at that roster you had an idea yeah beliefs of the not getting read it's not the case here is it just getting rid of the veterans something I want to kick out I mean to some young players being tough to have does well there isn't. What. If it mattered who you know I talk to really big Michael are all tight end Today did an interview with Randy and I asked really about that and Randy said one thing about it that drives me crazy Lisa is the younger players it's not about what can I bring to your team it's what can your teen bring for me you know it's probably a different decade of players that we had we have now than we did back then you know it's just like a company you go to work for a company you're going to restructure your bottom then you want to be here here's our load out there we're going to have a rough year but who wants to stay in with us and fight with us because 23 years we're going to be the leading company this is our vision at that time as an employee you make a decision you want to stay where you want to go and there's a there are we should say there are a few seem to want to get now so that was certainly the suggestion last week Rob I you wanting this on the so for a home like between you know like the old doctor who. Hide behind a. Dollar bill like that or to the dolphins of the moment. It is it is do I think leases on the heads sometimes over there it's easy to forget I can't believe he has $31.00 players on the roster this year weren't there last year so you know you've got 60 percent of the players within the whole squad weren't even there last year and I was going to throw in a spin of defense for vine Fitzpatrick 8 teams in the n.f.l. He's played for and as someone who has played quarterback for a couple years a 2nd string learning a playbook from scratch is no mean feat people have no idea is sometimes how hard it is to take all the information in divulge and then be have a dungeon and put it back out there on the field and having done that I times over his head must be full of so many plays it's phenomenal Yeah but it is what you do. Watcha there was a play against the pages where he. Rhymes frying to Berridge and he runs sort of a sort of Texas route for those who don't know you sort of 45 degrees from the backfield as a running back to the line of scrimmage and then he comes back across the middle of a field and he ducks as the ball comes towards him and there just seems to be. This is a lack of a jelling going on like there's a lack of understanding maybe with some players and it was just you know sort of name one of them you watch it as a fan you watch anything of come on as a play you watch and think there's a there's a miscommunication going on somewhere and it is only week 2 some of these players have been in the squad less than a few months and you know they're taking in hundreds and hundreds of plays with incredibly complicated calls to try and process that you make it sound as though there is a possibility then that is going to improve in the next few weeks at least certainly yes so do you have do you have call as a fan Rob do you have confidence in Brian Flores you know this is the guy that brought in from New England he's got a great back story if nothing else based not on this before. You know you backing him of the story yeah absolutely I think it's very easy to look at any head coach. Come in and make changes and it starts off and it's just absolutely awful and you just think what get rid of him because he's the obvious choice to get rid of but you know we were only 23 years ago looking at the Cleveland Browns who were just absolutely dreadful and they've made key changes over the past 34 maybe 5 year is not being a Browns fan I'm not sure how much is going on there but you know you know a lot and I know you know I'm a pretty. Well there you go and now you look at them this year and people people who are getting into the sport this year might be going to Wembley to see some of the games will be looking at the Browns in the n.f.l. Going maybe they could be my team they're pretty good these guys are on the up coming they could be so playoff bound you know. Going back to Oakland they came in might allow the changes and then suddenly the Oakland Raiders were a bit sketchy for for a while whenever Well he's gone in and ruined it but actually now it's all settled down and he's got the core players he wants in place in those key positions you know we talk a lot about the quarterbacks of course but you know having a great center the guy who snaps the bolts of the quarterback that that guy's so important. To him or injuries earlier as well that offensive line they are so key and it's why people at the Patriots are so good and what Tom Brady is in his forty's and still playing because he's not been hit take dissipate the shoulder 4 times this year and still have it on playing because you know we were ham which is sports team and therefore if you don't play it when our players. You know if you get protection and everyone jails everything come it's beautiful it's one of the most magnificent things about any sport when you watch a whole team come together and just get it right you sit there watching over this is exactly why I watch this. Absolutely I mean I just finished by asking you are the dolphin owners and are the Dolphins fans going to stick with this team for a while because they are playing the Cowboys this weekend it's entirely possible they're going to lose that one as well could be heading for a Norton 16 season but actually all the coaches stay in place there nothing's happened. Far as I can see yes I spent a lot of time during the games watching coaches and watch and owners Stephen Ross. During the last couple of games I kind of sense that I love watching the reactions I like watching the body language of the players and I loved Rob's take because a lot of fans don't understand that aspect of what Rob just you know told us it takes 4 or 5 games for players to gel together the continuity of the Office of Law and I mean we like you said we've got players that we signed 3 days ago planned with players they just met. So you know his take on that was was tremendous and I think fans a lot of fans don't realize that but Stephen Ross his attitude during these last couple games take it last year with case he had his hand on his head just like what am I watching these 2 games that I physically watched him he was talking to Dan Marino laughing with a drink in his hand nonchalantly would look at the side grab the with ocular as we take a look down but never did I see any kind of discord on his face or discussed just adamantly talking to people and and carrying on like he knows the plan I mean here Greer laid the plan out I mean this is our plan guys I mean this is this is what we have to live with it's going to be a fascinating yeah absolutely something so much. You know if you do bad and he keeps getting was a nice comeback will mature you just give us a shout with this can be you therapy session I mean Rob are ready tears me up because like I said I love hearing that the fans don't understand that aspect Rob understand that aspect you know he plays you know he knows what it takes to you know have a team come together as a team it takes time when even with this roster it's going to take coming when Lisa let me let me ask Rob is it more about thanks very much Lisa Lewis told to his rope I mean you are as you said. A player you play in just tell me which team it is Spartans vs ex-parte And so tell us a bit more about the Essex partons for people who don't know about American football in the u.k. I mean I started playing at university in 2006 that point it was you know starting to pick up a bit of momentum again sort of you know from the heyday of the eighty's when it was on Channel 4 and things like that and it sort of suddenly started growing and in the last 13 years it is absolutely exploding that's the lot thanks to the n.f.l. Coming to Wembley and now Spurs as well over there to sponsor sort of 30 years strong now and actually we've just had our most successful year for $28.00 sub believe made the South Conference Semifinals got bitten by a bit team on the day unfortunately but we are 10 in one season this year and we're going to go back to what I was a little bit earlier about teams jelling and when plans being put in place our head coach Sean he he put in a new playbook 34 years ago to try and shake things up a little bit test the waters as with some other plays and it did all right we did Ok we started to improve things but it just wasn't quite there and we completely threw that out at the end of last season and put a brand new one in a little west coast often so for those who watch the Saints something similar to what they kind of run and we put that in this year brand new when January when we came back for pre-season our year is the opposite end of the year to the n.f.l. And all of a sudden everything started to gel with all the players we had some new guys come in people had never played the sport before which is amazing and they they just sort of fit right into the team of veteran players have been there a while just sort of all got it and you know it's incredible it's been such a great year the buzz around the club and the team has been meant we got promoted. Due to being the highest seeded losing semifinalists. We have been promoted to Division one now and so next year we're looking to play another high level again but it is incredible that you know there is so many teams there are so many teams up and down the u.k. Representing the sport there full and everyone gives it you know does it for the love of it and the other I. Say anyone anyone more than 5 people in the whole country probably making any money out of playing it would play it for the love of it and I'll say it is it is just take it is taken just as seriously here in the u.k. At the amateur level as it is a problem for you I was absolutely. I was going to say I mean we've got to leave it there I'm afraid as I've got to go and talk Indy car but I do want to know just as a radio professional How do you drive a desk with a dislocated shoulder. After the 2nd time I didn't for a week drive my car that's always a bit more of a problem right Rob for a pleasure the early wobble is that right b.b.c. Radio and I've been. An hour in 10 minutes I'm going to go. Do some pushups and they get ready for the game they go we will we will hand over see you at 4 o'clock this morning. We'll speak to you another time Rob thank you so much right do you see how at least the tactics of failure that for the Miami Dolphins fascinating see that's one of the sport Aussie may be up or about the next time and doing really really badly at something so you can't do anything about it we heard presenting the . Me lovely credit card fine right through some of this. World of. Speed with. The thing is just if we don't play enough man not on 5 live mostly because we're speech radio station but let's not go into that So this is of course Speedway in Nazareth I'm playing it because we're talking about the Indy car. It's not actually at Nazareth this weekend but I thought it was an excuse by small not nice of us in fairly reasonable to make because it is the end of the Indy Car season this week and the finale taking place on Sunday at Laguna Seca in California for drivers can still win the title side who will Let's find out is not sport dot coms Indy Car editor David welcome to the program. Oh I question for me Yes Well one of the arms of the moment I was far too early Don worried to 52 in the morning . A fair way of putting It's all right we're all watching American sports it's all fun David tell us about this weekend because we've got 4 different drivers who could take the title Joseph new gun Alexander Rossi Simon Pagenaud and Scott Dixon Pugh is the most likely to get the title well. You know the fire has to be. Only $41.00 points for our ground or us even championship However it's systems confuse the. Calendar because we have double points and the from our. Real razor I mean obviously it's tricky but while. It's a restraint this random really goes double points because the women here is no better than a winner one breach of their lower Yeah absolutely so sir just give us an idea that's been our He's 40 points ahead but how many points are available for the win . You can get 100 points for the way NY by basically double as a general the f.f.t. For Wayne and that's very kind you get 100 and then it's for the can you know it's like a key point for leading the most laps one point to starting from pole position and one point just leading a lot so if you had a perfect week you could get 104 points really is all and then you know I say. Yeah I mean basically joins us may God if he finishes both and nothing anyone else can. Stop him from taking his 2nd title in 3 areas however. Plenty fast cars I had that could prevent him from finishing 4th the way it's point Rusty Rusty stone needs to have a pretty near perfect way kind. Of I think it's the other thing David is that you haven't actually you 9 because not being a Laguna Seca hasn't said The year is saf estate that's right 15 minutes are everyone starting pretty much from a blank sheet we had a test site brave it is freezing cold and I may get caught right in that it lunchtime any bites. Yet nothing that I learned by writing these terribly representative but I did have a test day today and. Got appears to be struggling less than. Than Rusty it was like because of a 2nd of the price. Yeah I think it's safe to say Joseph's. Still money mentally favorite. But you know whether whether that's a good thing I know we had. Some compassion because Jesus drives a Team Penske and cream Penske has been described as the textile. And the car and the people who go to the almost expected to win and for anyone that can use a. Penske driver they say you know it's saying very much in the favorable light I don't know how true that is to you kind of like involved in every day I can see the complete outsider's perspective but it's fair to point out that under the old high school Alexander I see drives by him won the title since 20 trials so yeah I suppose if you wanted to make things up. You'd go for you guy for Rusty I mean I mean that's right I believe that Rossi does a. Big paycheck when it comes time to look in the history books and you know it's become the idea of Rossi winning one child you know received as one championship more than just to the moment that you know I knew God and had tremendous job this year and I strolled forwards in the seats and the scope to how things have Penske definitely been the best team of the year that. Yes Yeah absolutely. For ISIS Simons $13.00 time fashion I'll be another card. Former champion he's on tour so yeah you know I went on to the powers rushes to him have me of any sort is to a man's man of history might sort of come up to scratch so yeah let me ask you about the popularity of Indy Car because I you know I started watching a years ago when there was the whole Indy Car and cart and all of that you know coming together in a city yes yes of sorry guys I mean is Indy Car still getting the push through in American sports when you go something like for example mass college just say fundamentally popular especially in the south. And because the last 3 years maybe has paid has been back on the rise because there are a lot prettier than they were 2 years ago. It's. Kind of place but in a time where I would say spiral Nascar kind of stole the start he got my popular. I think for people he wanted he wanted cakes watching cars guy around a variety of tracks I think because this is the one that they can see because visits natural to right road courses street courses sure. You know where it's Nascar is fundamentally based around different types of. Things I think. Yeah I think those are helping and because because some of it is the fact that Formula one has been so dominated by Messiah these times. As well since 24 times. A lot of people have a whale racing Fosdyke away ricing have this right the other thing that how. Long as I can pay 3 trying to compete in the Indy 500 twice fighting to qualify this yeah I mean. We were here 1st. For he. Was you know sort of alive for new troops 2400000 people are by far but there was 3400000000 people cheering. For your. Party's about his popularity among. The big 5 are just part of the whole Absolutely he's a popular she's amazing one would answer and I do mean one word David any chance of a regular drive next season and appearing in every race. For Harry Reid interviewed him earlier this season thank you so much David malice about it from a North American sports show if you ever want to get in touch with us ask any questions about North American sport you can at b.b.c. Dot com Don't you k. Dr James we can find Still to come growing up in the shadow I want to be music all time great. This c.b.c. Radio.
