Radio action news of 4 minutes past. The more good morning General who's at the Morcombe carnival today marking parade go on well B.B.C. Radio Lancashire there but taking one of the stages only one G. Live or to live see how reliable we're taking to one of the stages they're doing is renowned spoons a presumably place disposed under so it's fire eating as well if you enjoy that. As a person who lives literally about 3 miles up the road it was good to be overlooked thank you very good have come that it wasn't a problem. Not for you surely. Rather the comedian. The great scientist I hope the weather is going to be all right with . Lancashire well. Yes I don't want this put you off it if you going to an event today I was just say Mikey is really annoying isn't it this time of year when people yeah oh yeah everything's getting ready for action there over a spanking good day and then look what arms it's Mr weather turns up and doesn't like the idea let's have a look mainly cloudy this morning. Sherry outbreaks of right there will be further showers and rain this afternoon some of which are going to be have a perhaps of thunder as well and that's today tonight mainly dry as sort of many cloudy evening tonight but it will be dry but then a little later in the evening so my breaks of rain throughout some persistent locally heavy rain is possible as well later into the night I get into tomorrow morning when it will remain cloud in the rains line to consider continue throughout the day tomorrow the rain is also becoming heavy at times during the day to and it should start to play around but evening time which is really good because I've got a day planned tomorrow in the OUT TO has sort of some greenery which has been put on for a few days but it's not going to get what. You would see B.B.C. Radio like you show a. Sunday morning on B.B.C. Radio like you should Good morning welcome to the B.B.C. Read you like you've just done this press 7 o'clock news and old folks things coming up between now and 9 character now than I am of the Sun thank you and I don't get like your outdoor stuff for a while but to with the country show I saw here on B.B.C. Radio Lancashire I. Was an. How we close our eyes from go west on B.B.C. Radio Lancashire 10 past 7 is the time and in a moment or 2 some have the latest traffic in trouble for you on this Sunday morning and of course it happens 7 it's back forty's back all the Premier League back it was great yes that day and anyway we'll get to the supporters at about half past 7 here on B.B.C. Radio like you should before that though preparations are being made for Joe Long thoughts for you know which takes place in Blackpool on Tuesday the event actually starts today with Joe's quarter staying at his sister's house in hole before taking a route around the city tomorrow then it will arrive at Joe's hometown of sorry Joe's home for the last 20 years in MORCOMBE pocket in Blackpool that happens on Monday evening when he'll be there and then on Tuesday it's the actual funeral itself and Blackpool people have the chance to say farewell as the cortege passes such places as the Winter Gardens on Tuesday morning and then a requiem mass will be set at the Sacred Heart Church to be set by both Father Jeff bottoms will be alongside the parish priest at the Sacred Heart that's Canon Bob to her and he told me about the meaning of a recreate mass How does that differ from the mass that people would normally be saying on a Sunday morning Requiem Mass the best prayer that we can make for a person because we're ready presenting Christ sacrifice on behalf of that person and included them in it and the message directed toward it and therefore that is the best that we can do and Joe and his his last wishes asked of the people prayed for the repose of his soul said gently correct it's but if you I mean you said. That he didn't want any great force he wanted it something simple he asked for straightforward heavens that we would normally use in fact he actually put it said he didn't want any of this simply the best offense to Tina Turner and he didn't want any mobile phones taking photographs of people all the time and making it into a circus in fact as he put it into of his head it would like people to come and pray for the repose of his soul and that in the requiem mass is what we're trying to do and so when we get to Tuesday I know that there will be a quarter is going through the town and people I'm sure be respectful of that as it passes the the Winter Garden in the theaters and comes in to watch your choice but once in church it will be a ceremony which will be a someone ceremony not one that you would term as being an event of entertainment Exactly yes there will be agitating as there presumably a lot sooner expected people that were contemporaries of his and friends and associates but it it focuses on praying for you and that's that's the most important part put any added pressure on you and on the church oh yes sit down to do yeah because you're here aware that you know this is going out to a bigger audience and the fact that there is something of a distraction but we are we have asked the B.B.C. And I forget some of their T.V. As ready well if they would put it simply static cameras so they're not wandering about distracting everybody is that is the danger is something you can get with weddings as well sometimes and and this is really a statement of saying it was Joe's wishes but also the wishes to the Roman Catholic community there is a yes doesn't lose the S.L. Given that we didn't from the beginning feel when we wanted to explode the cameras because you know per se there's nothing wrong with them and what about the church itself of your family getting in touch with you and asking about the service and just wants to know generally what will happen. Well a lot of people yeah have not been very well myself for a couple of days and so so other people feel that some of these there's been quite a lot but even before I went to a hospital there were a lot of people actually ringing up asking for the time and space departing good to get in and. Stuff like this you know Bob to Hurst now thanks to kind of Bobby's number so well this week heard him say that I'm very kindly agreed to speak with us yesterday about yesterday morning when recording our interview and just let me give you an idea of what will happen on Tuesday as the funeral cortege is due to leave those homes in Layton and he will leave at 11 o'clock and then travel down west of drive going toward Church Street in Blackpool and past the music hall top and it will then go past the Winter Garden of the Grand Theater before Blackpool and then along the prom past the North Pier to arrive at the sacred out Roman Catholic Church into Albert Road and that is for a full Requiem Mass that starts at noon and the food funeral service is public which Joe wanted to happen just going to be traditional funeral dress that's the biased burial will take place in the cemetery shortly afterwards there were up that's what is planned for Tuesday and I know if you're in the popular you will show your respects in that way B.B.C. Radio Lancashire just approaching who are past 7 will have the latest on the traffic in trouble very shortly and also before we get to happens 7 we're going to be reflecting the fact that it is eat in this starts today for a Muslim community here in Lancaster is 758 B.B.C. All in the next 20 minutes. To bring you on the program. Like. Alan Alan. Mulally. 05. China was think. Think very 5 signs like some sort of Welsh out you know those things you got from J. Looks I never look at your all of Maroon 5 plays. Let's move on to talk about the government to say that they will expand stop and search powers as part of plans to tackle violent crime the changes will see all 43 police forces across England and Wales allowed to search anyone and a designated area if officers believe a serious crime may take place rather than if they think an offense definitely will be committed the subtle difference well Home Secretary pretty Patel explained why the government believed the move was needed it's important apps the rights and proper. The right professional and legal way from all the police forces that I've been speaking to I'll hurt the crime under 25 C.H.P. For 25 years old has gone down by 15 percent because of the increased use of stop and search and that means taking more weaponry off our streets so of course the use of stop or search in the right political and professional way drive survive kind of outcomes and that's effectively what we are seeking to do while the B.B.C.'s Jon Donnison has been looking at Number 10 proposals he's saying that there should be tougher sentences he says far too many people who've committed violent or sexual offenses are coming out of prison too early he's proposing 10000 new prison places in order to deal with those people serving long sentences that's going to involve building new prisons as well as expanding existing ones that's going to cost 2500000000 pounds and he also says that he's going to expand a pilot scheme increasing please stop and search powers and he were referring to there was of course the Prime Minister Barak's JOHNSON Well Labor's accuse the concert is trying to appear tough rather than dealing with the root causes of crime the shadow home secretary done a bit sad standing stop and search powers over the summer was a tried and tested recipe for unrest not violence reduction and jump out of the national chair of the Police Federation of Inman and well said the change was necessary but that other issues also need tackling what we've seen over the past decade is the police's ability to get involved in those community groups has diminished because of the coach we heard of we have fallen behind on March meeting again we are getting better so the community engagement and talking to these young people and also get me involved where they where they get involved in gangs we need to really to talk to them about consequences of their actions and also explain what stop and search as well the government's renewed focus on Law and Order. Following recent announcements on the N.H.S. Clive's they go on get it don't you the weather stop yeah we love like your shallow jungle know Gillie here coming up just after 8. Us here on B.B.C. Radio like you showed us start with that one of that list that talk about the disputed region of Kashmir which has been in the spotlight this week you've seen various reports on it with Article 370 being revoked in Indian administered Kashmir hundreds have been detained including politicians activists business leaders and professors and the area has been in lockdown since last Sunday with mobile landline and Internet networks all cut off is a very serious situation Pakistan says the removal of special status breaches international law and the UN has said is deeply concerned about the situation there have been marches in the U.K. Meetings held across the country this is from a meeting. In Sheffield troops is over there too they call move so they are suffering democracy when they go to the people but they are OK I just feel a need to be part of it to me I just feel why do we need a demonstration you can visually see that this is something completely wrong that is happening all the family my uncles my aunties everybody has their voice me and the 15000000 people are being trapped inside that house is only what they can see in the moods of the Indian army from outside there's no broadband there's no internet there's no landline how and I had to migrate to get into to them. Oh you can feel their anguish can you will joining us now is Professor Paul Rogers he's from the Department of Peace Studies that's at Bradford University Good Morning Good Morning Joe good morning just like explain to me because what Article 37 holes all about because right back to the independence of into the partition of India into India and Pakistan and at that time the territory of Kashmir in the north was actually contested post by the Indian and Pakistani governments as they formed the dissension it ended up after a pretty bitter conflict with India controlling the botton the southern 2 thirds and Pakistan controlling the rest and a sick 2 thirds controlled by India which came under this article 370 which gave it a fair degree of autonomy within the state of India so the soldier that had his own legislatures and flag quite a lot of his own local laws not things like foreign policy all the national issues but also importantly it meant that Kashmir is the only people with the rights to property and that has been apprecate about the Indian government which wants to consolidate Kashmir into unity in 2 years a whole on the current government the Hindu nationalist cup and B J P government to Prime Minister Modi won an election earlier this year increase has been charged partly on this issue such as broadly pretty popular in India digitally unpopular in Pakistan and both countries believe that the in top. Their shift Kashmir should belong to them so it's country ahead very suddenly and to some extent unexpectedly and given that this is being that is such a long time I only have about another minute or so please just possibly just tell us how you see these playing out because I think come to a head properly now do you believe that something will be resolved here Well one hopes very much for just doesn't look good at present the Pakistani prime minister Imran Khan clearly just not want to escalate prime minister mood in India believes he has sort of power on his side many people contest that the being bitter wars between the 2 countries most notably 971 but they are now of course nuclear armed and that is a real worry this is why the UN has expressed concern one hopes that wise counsel be basically. Present and really take charge but it's not easy to see skillful mediation will be needed because the divisions are bitter and as I say with powers it does have nuclear weapons among the very few countries in the world that do this is why I think there has to be real concern about it thank you so much for talking to us we'll hear I'm sure a great deal more about that as the days unfold It's 751 it's B.B.C. Radio one on a Sunday morning with the latest news coming up at 8 o'clock here on B.B.C. Radio one I just want to remind you of something you may well have heard this a little earlier on our breakfast program on B.B.C. Radio and. They manage each day in the Winter Soldier in the summer I'm going to join the winter Christmas time as well they manage to make summer in the region around 1000 sandwiches made up each morning to ensure that youngsters in the area find themselves a bit of something to eat during the course of the day we called in to see them very good morning here from a bustling Wesley Hall in black Ben where the team and mediate in cheese chewed and chicken as this crack team of volunteers get ready to hand out this morning's freshly made hall to children across the area that have been battering bread since the crack of dawn this morning led by a minute from Kingdom outreach which is the charity behind this this brilliant project can I just pull you away from the production line for a couple of minutes so it's called the summer lunchbox program it's exactly that is it just tell me how it came about it is exactly that is a summit folks program this is our 3rd year running and it actually came about strangely enough from my kid I was at home one day making sandwiches for my children at lunch time and having gone through quite a rough patch myself in the past I just really felt it been on my heart that I needed to feed the children of light than a dollar and I had no idea how I was going to do it what I was going to do I had I knew nothing all I knew that I had business real burden on my heart to do this so I got got into it with losses the trustee of reach and he said It's strange I've been feeling this way I think. Christian organization and we we are very prayerful about things that we do so we created our to it and here we are we report to businesses we approached anyone and everyone that we thought could or possibly may want to help us we had lots of people that said Great idea but we can't help with love nor money but we're persevered and everything just came together the volunteers and their ordinary lives at the Room of the what it is they've seen people just tell me about you volunteers people that have given up the time this morning so our volunteers these are our trusted a very dedicated volunteers that everyone with is over the 3 years the just keep coming back so I must be doing something right we have a spectrum really we have young people he 7 and then we have. The oldest lady that we've ever had is so it's just amazing the community just coming together and pulling together to feed the children of luck with the dollar what does a gesture like this means those families that you know that you're helping during the summer holidays. There's more than one aspect to this so there's some families where there is a real need for the children won't actually get a proper meal and so when the thing that gap but this is the families who just a feeling the pinch in the holidays they're working you know that they're OK but come the holidays they're feeling the pinch of this is just giving them that extra little bit of help and support but also it gives them an activity to actually go out and take the children out for for the morning go to the local children's centers which aren't really being you know probably is used as much as what they should have been in the past and then it's giving them an opportunity to actually take part in the community activities and have a lunch while also doing that and you've got a 1000 children there just of each day that's a lot of families that you're reaching out to isn't it it's a great deal of families and it just goes to show that there's a huge need out there and this is a grassroots project and it's supported by local businesses and for example in tack they're the ones that have given as the van without the van we would not be able to do this yet and also to get a lanky shop a great deal to do with that as well and also that it's just blood doll and that's just happening in the center of blood on a daily basis Sharon Hart incident of the reporter there. But around Lancashire in various places there are people doing just the same type of thing very often it's organized by faith groups. As well 4 minutes away from 8 is the time it is B.B.C.
