Matrix signs have now been switched off I just bought it on camera So hopefully things will start to ease a little bit and I'm 20 usual delays westbound through the roadworks 6 to 5. And the a $26.00 is slow moving south down towards the roadworks new to the junction of 3 Elm lane 2 that slow and patches from column services come petrol station up towards the bin and change in busy only way to into London heading up towards the l. Some tunnel on James Wooley more in 20 minutes the wake up call with Ian Collins b.b.c. Radio Kent. And good morning 5 past 7 Wednesday 13th of November yes we return to the campaign trail the latest from the main parties the n.h.s. On the agenda an argument about the response to the flood scandal that standing down mainstream politicians becoming independents and some told they're not welcome to stand tall will bring you all of the latest here this morning also as you've been hearing dozens of children from Kent have been treated at a gender identity clinic this year these are the findings of an investigation which reveals across England children as young as 5 are under the care of the gender identity development service things can change from when you were a baby to. People ask me Are you we born Where you born a girl or were you about born a boy and I says actually I was I was born a 10 pound things change when they released 100 children being treated having been referred from the Kent area the issue divides opinion perhaps the biggest question can a 5 year old really decide their own gender and river that story we brought you a couple of weeks ago from Ashford market. Which is. Probably to go up to the shops to go back up if we end up stuck. We'll end up going bust while many of the store holders in there are precious few of them want to move it to a busier part of the High Street where the council have met but what has been the verdict so far will bring you the latest on that as well 08756 double one. Double one the wake up call with Ian Collins 08756 double one double one b.b.c. Radio Kent cover the points coming in from you on this this room Billy 9 tiles is the Tories are desperate the amount of money they're promising to spend is irresponsible and takes us back to the 1970 s. Levels of spending and look at how that panned out despite this where is the money for mental health services where the party's core values this is about Boris Johnson's Korea not the wider good of the country this flow from Miles is Corban in labor in opposition so it should be an open goal he can play any card he fancies this is classic socialist stuff vote for us we'll give you lots of things for free What's not to like not only do these promises really pan out if they do they will have to be paid for with other people's money that's a taster of the divisive nature of course of politics and of course it comes to a more. Perhaps a more aptly fide position because we have this thing called a general election in by the way 4 weeks time when you the latest each morning and speaking to various candidates that's firstly on this very point bring you up to date a week since parliament was dissolved the main party is beginning to launch their election politics that aren't just about bricks it later Labor will announce it's going to spend 26000000000 pounds on a plan they say to rescue the n.h.s. Meanwhile the Lib Dems will reveal their plans to tackle knife crime by investing 500000000 pounds in youth services that speak to an a further who's the conservative candidate for the Canterbury constituency on a 1st good morning to you. So tell us more than what's happening here labor planning to spend $26000000000.00 pounds in a rescue plan to deliver real change for the health service other Tories going to match that. Well it's interesting usually in this election it's really about who runs the country with you know how vital public services like the n.h.s. Again be funded and where the money is going to come from from the trust it to deliver value on your increases in tax take a strong economy will deliver what's actually from the health care and looked at missing out this morning conveyed to us and I think what we shall call clearly that once again please be trusted to run the country because there's more invention as far as I can see where this 26000000000 is going to come home and it seems to go on Justin what I've seen that is going to come through with the screen completion time well if that's the case that completion of a little bit is yes it's to control to stop corporation tax on one percent like a lot more years good article posted it would actually 1000000000 pounds for in revenue all the produce just all particles I will say and a half I would say they're going to cost us their manifesto is out later in the wake and all the costs will be there you'll be able to see for yourself on your own party your own party is also promising I was around service spending is well known not something we've previously thing from conservatives but one I'm going to you know. Priscilla is actually released today is showing that it's time to look into trying to use money from which you seem hopeful ration packs but these people to choose the amount of money available for the hope for this not increase it really is trying once again the take home the trust of the detail at the top of the other up and then if you look through natural because the fall guy who can cost you in the in the political wind normal cost of the other policy is to introduce. Well today so if you think if you put that thing. On Mt Is that a is that an election pledge the 4 day week I mean I heard it talked about as you know this would be at some point quite a good idea about absolutely sure whether this is going to be Pollyanna manifesto we can sit back we can speculate might my contention to you as a conservative is that your party is also promising to spend an awful lot of money it goes against what many people thought the conservatives were all about you're also simle Tennessee talking about tax cuts as well how are you going to fund all of those services the police education health of. The. Woman who know the tune. Is that as you know we inherited an economy that was absolutely on its knees you know we will remember was a decade ago it's Ok to go in the blockade we must study hard all the bloody thing about. A whole decade in which we have got the annual exhaust down very very considerably because we pumped Ok partisan young people and now the overgeneralising set to go the other way again and more spending even the Tories have been accused of taking spending pledges back to the 1970 s. But the difference is that it can cause madness the economy Hockley over the last 10 years we are in a position where we can do with the things that we are setting out to normal so if they're going to borrow my watering amounts of money we're going to borrow again you're going back in the direction that you resisted for a decade. Borrowing also. Against an increasing tax take some strong economy is is not the same thing at all God's affordable borrowing that's what Lebron going there also borrowing the might be borrowing more but the principle stands they believe they can and are and will they will put taxes up if they need to you're not even promised a lot. Difference the difference here is when you actually look. Both come white when out there suggesting that we're going to get money from which was all they say is by results in Copenhagen child is silly when you actually look at the detail not really it is the actual the council we have made in corporation tax is actually going corporation tax into the Jacka So that's one area and that's just one area there's lots of other ways people can look at raising money and it's symptomatic isn't it that actually really look at the details because they don't actually adult when I was. Looking at the way that we manage the economy is the last time we will have to include. Unemployment on the other side I we do a growing economy only in which we're going to be able to stop world class health services which we won't as we have an aging population and a growing population that's the only one even counting on that you have a strong economy on that point out of thank you for his the conservative candidates accounts very much but we go with what I see as the Lib Dem candidate for Sevenoaks care for this good morning to you good morning well let's start on that issue of the n.h.s. Labor promising to throw 26000000000 pounds into it they call it a rescue package do you agree with them. But I think a certain extent I mean ultimately we all know that the n.h.s. Is being chronically neglected and under-funded for for the better part of a decade now and waiting lists kind of reaching. Disproportional levels and ultimately most experts are predicting another winter crisis so I think any extra spending has to be welcome my concerns are that you know at the end of the last Labor government we ended up inheriting a huge deficit which then had to go back into a cycle of austerity and of that we don't want to go is to do that again and also the same time. We could end up with cyclists we have ranges political promises not being made recently and will this just be another one that just won't be met. Over the next few years so so I think the latest potentially setting itself up for a big fall so steady increase is welcome I think there are potential problems ahead for this this is a very difficult journey for the Liberal Democrats of course isn't it because you can't really cite austerity is being damaging in horrendous and the wrong decision to do when it was your party's decision to do it. I mean I think at the time there was there was a huge deficit the country was pretty close to being on its knees in 2008 so when we came into power in 2010 I think the right set of decisions were made what has been seen since 2015 when it's been an entirely conservative government is a shift from what was necessary housekeeping see what is what is fundamentally ideological program to rein in public sector and to rein in. Education police in particular that is a huge shift from a necessary housekeeping into. A sickly. Ideological action that the public sector so you're on your part of the austerity. Marriage was was fine and dandy the other side was mean and ideological No No I'm saying since 2015 the. Lib Dems that come into government we started seeing the true colors and the idea that you know way before us if I mean there was no guarantee that I was going to say there was a central housekeeping understand there are not was the right thing to do for the sake of the country since then when the brakes on spending could have come off a very very stages that is not happened. On the teaching myself work in schools are Mark. Local problems cause I'm a governor of a crisis I know how damaging these cuts have been and I have been unnecessary for the last 34 years so that's what we try to meet again 1st 5 years the can absolutely right. After the Lib Dems were not in coalition they were irresponsible . The 1st 5 years kept the brakes on the economy remarked how is it reasonable to shine the exactly with that time when they became irresponsible Yes. To the point that. The Lib Dems were acting within their acting as an anchor on conservative ideology we were recently maintaining a source stable government which was the right thing to do and since then it has moved towards an ideological program which is reduced public sector spending undermined crime n.h.s. Exemption which during the worst excesses of just when some will announce later plans for 500000000 pounds to be spent on Youth Services drummer and things like knife crime how would this work so the idea was that we would have still. 500000000 pounds that we ring fence for you services we regard as the 1st line in the defense against the Democrat knife crime unfortunately we have seen a total reduction of statutory use work I'm going back 20 years and I used to work for Harris in community services and stuff and we have marvelous programs taking kids away and also used to work for you centered and it's a more later on. Some of the stuff was brilliant and we doubted we helped children you could have made wrong decisions could have been involved in activities we helped them we maintain their progress kept them. Solid in school make sure they got qualifications through all the extra stuff that we were able to provide unfortunates or being cut back recently and we need to restore that part of our program to ensure that our children are safe on the streets and on that point Gareth Thank you. What if the Liberal Democrat candidate for the Sevenoaks constituency with us here on b.b.c. Radio Kent's will continue to take your comments of course along the way as well referenced the election this one in from Shelley who made the point I read this in the last section I'll just read this again because it is rather interesting and it just talks about. The system we have in this country I feel sort of smaller parties and independents are 1st past the post system because they never get a real look in even the Greens despite a 1000000 hours of free air time over the year on climate change issue the one party would expect to gain from this would be the Green Party yet they're nowhere in the polls maybe we need to change the system it would certainly put a rocket up the trouser leg of the main parties it was just a reminder we did have a referendum in 2011 to try and change the system I think it was a Lib Dems readline I think I'm right in saying that when they came into coalition with the Tories which has been talking about that said look will do it but actually want to change the voting system they saw themselves as a smaller party would it be a good idea if we are a smaller party we could get more traction in Westminster that would go for independents it would go for organizations like the Green Party and others Ukip certainly at the time said they would do massively well out of this but of course the referendum had about a 42 percent turnout as I remember compared to what 70 percent for the e.u. Referendum 40 odd percent of people voted on it and it was overwhelmingly voted to retain the status quo 1st past the post so that is where we're at we're listening or you're listening to the wake up call we're all listening in fact to the wake up call everybody's listening to the wake up call here on b.b.c. Radio Kent with incomings Also this morning this it's a beauty Costa del Sol news new regulations from the local council in Costa del Sol people who worry over 12 stone in the Costa del Sol of that's all a lot of British tourists here are to be banned from doing what if you're a little heavy then you'll be banned from doing what the cost of El Sol councillors of an out in force they're having none of it will tell you what is on the other side of the news 20 past 7 now the headlines with Rose lay there is promising to outspend the conservatives on the n.h.s. In England if it wins the general election the Tories say Labor's plans for a shorter working week would eat into the funding available a 63 year old man has been charged with murder after the death of another man in a hit and run crash in Beck's me you're a nappy ed from the town has been charged. Travel leaves from b.b.c. Radio Kent and 25 quite slow clockwise from 4 rounds of 5 knots down to the 21 Of course all because of some faulty matrix signs earlier on which have been fixed and cannot be switched off and clockwise all right although I actually know it's a little heavy into the driver tunnels from to a 2 that's building up was slow moving already westbound from column Services Compensation up to 35 and quite slowly I'm 23 the road works between junction 6 and 5 toward salesmen It slowed me a 26 I had low through the road works and stock. Still shut because of flooding seems self-starter and swing feel straight no reports of problems for trains and ferries on James will be more in 20 minutes on $104.00 f.m. In Ramsgate with stable and Amber cross and west on 96.7 f.m. This is b.b.c. Radio 10. More the library. Would you ever just want to get. It From The point here changing your behavior it worked here. This morning from 9 b.b.c. Radio can't. There's the wake up call with Ian Collins on b.b.c. Radio can't so much coming coming through from you will bring you more of that in a couple of hours I mention this Casa del Sol got some new regulations on the Costa del Sol So the councillors down there on the cost are going to get things right here they brought in a new rule that people who weigh over 12 stone are to be banned from what I've. Found anybody should be banned from doing this because it is not I don't think it's good the answer is writing donkey's and this is me Hass No I know me house guy so live in Spain and me house was just near where I live I'm a house used to be a beautiful part very spot. Part of Spain you'd go up there and you'd see you know an old widow in black you'd see a man walking a donkey through a dusty track that was farming is the only place in Spain with a square bull ring beautiful I went back to you were years later it was golf courses and amusement arcades and kissed me quick at's and those rather oversized donkeys you can buy to bring back on the plate was all of that it completely changed it it had the tar a 1000000 Last Curse put upon it but donkey rides reign superior who doesn't feel donkey to feel sorry for a tonking going to doggy does look happy on a good day does it let's be honest about it you don't he's a miserable bit of kit frankly it's really not the happiest beast on the planet so you could give a donkey all the carrots it wanted and it would still look at you as if you would certainly it was domestic us it is just not a happy thing donkey so stick a fat tourist on the back of one and frankly just make their life and already gloomy existence even worse so the boffins down there at the cost of our solace at this is unfair on the donkey's In fact it's all unfair nobody should be on a donkey rather what's the great thing about going a got on the back of a donkey I mean it is not to go on the back of a tiger house points for that but on the back of a donkey so it can pace its way through the dusty streets of Kabul DMI us with an overweight tourist on the back so they've banned it what's interesting about that how that matter how that pans out I don't know because one assumes that have to have a set of scales so you've got to be what your math ashame the walk of shame just to get on a donkey ride the walk of shame as you decided let's get rid of don't you ride Barry and as you pitch up to the place somebody says get on the scales mate and you have to pitch up on the scales and it goes dong sorry you're 15 stone clear off not good for the donkeys back it's a long time coming I think some places can you still do in Blackpool to Margate still have I think Margaret got rid of the mug and so got the donkeys. Blackpool did have the donkey's live there as well I think live everywhere where there's been donkeys for some reason I don't there's a correlation there who knows let's go back to more pressing more present never never caught me leg over the back of one I can tell you that much maybe as a kid Caroline in Staplehurst this is reference the election that's going on she said the conservatives have lied on their promises they promise 5000 more G.P.'s in 2017 now and 29000 they're promising 6000 I don't that's a lie or whether they're just increasing it they would say that is still work in progress as anyone in Kent had a problem getting a g.p. Appointment or a home visit join the club I think many would say What about promises for 10000 please sharp increases in working parents using food banks child poverty and homelessness are the rise on the rise and 0 house building under the house building program they did I have to say for balance Caroline They have built a couple 100000 homes but they there was a certain promise wasn't there within one element of house building where they actually built none at all. It's called List theory you can just list all of the things that you love or hate about a political party and there is Caroline's up and running we will have more I'm sure representing all political parties in the things you love or hate about them let's move on to something rather different here children is Children in Need comes around rather like Christmas there it is again this coming Friday fitness guru Joe which you might be familiar with Joe Joe weeks he's as fit as a butcher's dog he's been in Kent for children in eighty's visiting 10 schools around the county this week culminating in a massive online school's fitness workout called The Big Morning move this is on Children in Need day on Friday will b.b.c. Radio Kent Andy Garland watched him and Pudsey get a rapturous welcome at story primary school near cancer bury. The body coached b.b.c. Children in Need u.k. Schools Ambassador I'm on a mission to get kids fit the big money move us raise money for Aids telling me. Joe welcome to stere promiscuous distance I can see you going all over the u.k. And you just put on the home straight now I've been in a whirlwind adventure zigzag in from Belfast to Glasgow to why always I'm here in Cannes where I'm going to Cambridge I'm visiting 10 schools I've attended over 2 weeks and 14000 schools applied so there are 10 special schools and we're about to go and do another work out and the great thing is I'm not travelling on my own I'm travelling and doing the work of Pudsey was a lovely welcome to me but this new project. To be fair probably could do the work quite frankly looking at the shape of the fella he's not as in good nick as you are well he's at a what he's been doing starts. Lunges squats you know it's really great and the kids they obviously and they get excited by the work and doing something different and exercising but when they see pods a lot traveling with Justin Bieber I love it I. Know you might not have had a chance to catch the news this morning but there's a report out today that says primary school children get less active when they join in reception to when they leave school at the end of year 6 they're doing an hour less physical activity between joining the promise school and leaving the Proms go that's in the British Heart Foundation just today yeah and it really kind of it saddens me to hear that and I am a parent I've got a 11 year old go so I want to know that my child's going to grow up in a in an education system where fitness and health is paramount in this is right at the forefront. I said next on this was by calling kangaroo John put your hands up let it magic you got a little baby kangaroo here and we got that just I. Had I'm trying to marry on the head teacher story Church of England primary school water Morning Joe believe about what a fantastic opportunity for our children when they were all so excited and we are as well know quite by chance that James ended up here today I know luckily we were picked from I think tens of thousands of entries for a competition. And we were one of the lucky 10 that was selected for a fantastic visit by Joe himself to do one of his morning workouts we were overwhelmed it was fantastic to talk stars of. The time we were in the hole with the youngsters they seemed to be having a great time I know they were so enthusiastic I'm so proud of all of them they all gave it their best shot they really got involved and you could absolutely feel the energy that was going on no. Amazing playing field you've got an outdoor set of play equipment. With Green roads and nets and swings and a boat and the sorts of things schools go this is pretty good outside space we are very privileged at this school we have worked hard to make the outdoor environment as engaging and exciting for our children as possible. And keeping fit mental health and wellbeing is a massive part of our curriculum and our ethos and we want to encourage children of all abilities and all ages to get as involved and as active as they possibly can oh interesting I know you probably one of her chance to digest this is morning at the British Heart Foundation news today saying that youngsters from reception to year 6 are actually doing an hour less physical activity by the time they get to year 6 than they were doing in Year All right obviously that's concerning for all of us because it has a massive impact on our school time and on our wider community we do as much as possible to promote fitness before school during our before school provision during the school hours both in our peak curriculum our science curriculum our understanding of the body and our void a holistic approach to the wellbeing of the child and are off to school clubs which we host a range of sports both internal and external providers because we think being fit and healthy out for learning we can meet the big morning. Counting part right money. Now charging. Your kids helping other kids with your wonderful advice thank you so much for your help if you plug in nothing. Was ever lost it was in ourselves all of us because now on that side you're going to have more energy for the night you can have better be happier have a much more you know productive let yourself why not. Of course then we more on that throughout the course of the next couple of days Joe weeks of story prime is going to Mars program we'll hear how Kent charity Eleanor has benefited from additional children in need funding You're listening to the wake up call on b.b.c. Radio Kent Still to come this morning after we were told 3 weeks ago that market traders in Ashford were worried they could all go out of business if they don't move location they've now told us change could be on the horizon since we were told that the remaining traders were campaigning to move back up the High Street the Council of met with them to discuss a possible move Dell is one of those traders. And the public to go up to the shops to go back up if we. Will end up going. There it is we'll bring you more on that throughout the course of the program as well is change on the horizon and we'll follow that up shortly it's the Wake Up Call the time coming up on 25 to 8 wake up call with Ian Collins and I'm in coaxing b.b.c. Radio Kent it is the wake up call more comment coming through on you as well reference lots of it coming through as you might imagine about the election of course it would be why would it not be interesting one from Palo who says why is Hillary Clinton suddenly pitching up with comment about a u.k. Election last week it was Donald Trump who next Kim Jong un Surely any seasons an experienced politician knows you just don't get involved on domestic issues they should remain domestic this is poor behavior from our American cousins Well it may well be poor behavior from our American cousins but actually. The problem there is if you're being interviewed and your OS to question. And that has certainly happened with Trump didn't it and I think with Hillary Clinton similarly that was on the Russian report that has not yet been released then I think you have a little you could just say will start nothing to do with me I think Trump did say at one point look I've got more pressing matters than to get involved with the psychology of what's going on with you guys but he did give a sort of cursory answer alluded to an alliance between 2 parties but interesting yes it's just fascinating that both Trump and Clinton have made in different ways varying comments on things that affect our own election over the last 10 days now with less than a month to go until polling day the main parties have clashed on how to respond to severe flooding in the north of England you have seen those images of different politicians from different parties meeting flood victims as of course has been severe in the north of England our political reporter Tony has been looking back at another eventful day on the campaign trail and we can bring you that story shortly here on b.b.c. Radio can't stand it says I watched yesterday with horror as labor and the Tories and the Lib Dems pleaded their cases we are clearly heading towards a hung parliament the difference this time I predict it will be the Labor Party calling the shots this will mean an unworkable alliance of parties trying to come together this could look very ugly I predict another general election within 12 months it's curious isn't it within another general election as Brenda would say we're another one we could we have another one I spoke to somebody who works in construction in fact they work in a sort of an area that advises construction they were speaking to one of the biggest construction companies probably I think it's British but probably one of the biggest in Europe and they said how palatable is it for you you know no deal breaks it remain leave except for and they said this is just one company so this is not it's not a qualified overarching view they said we can kind of cope with anything. Don't whatever you throw at us we will be prepared to cope Ok and they were initially talking about the e.u. Referendum and whether they can cope not being in the or being in the said if we were not in it we will change and we will cope if there is a majority government that happens to be Labor we will cope if there is majority govern that will be conservative we will cope what we couldn't cope with and what we really difficult would be an entire Alliance Party so a hung parliament burst and you'd have a kind of Northern Ireland scenarios that they've had in the past we've got a rainbow alliance so it's not just 2 parties as we had in 2013 or 4 parties all making it up so that would be confusing for business because of course you'd have. No settled for you you'd spend maybe the next year trying to hammer out agreement and even then that could result as text I just said in another referendum We'll watch with interest let's go back to that report I mentioned the floods of course taking place and the response taking place to those floods rather of course all manner of accusations being leveled a political party is over their response to it all political reporter Tony Brown Sr has been looking back at another eventful day on the campaign trail here's what he found. After the rains came the flood of politicians to South Yorkshire when Lib Dem leader Joe Swinson reduced to like he did for other families going through these heartbreaking experiences locals were appreciative kind of have to remember a live demo and pay coming to stand for much of the flooding is in seats the Tories and Labor are desperate to win Q Jeremy Corbyn in Doncaster Just imagine if this had happened in the sorry instead of Yorkshire and the Smithereens I think that have been a very very different story Boris Johnson did emerge briefly he praised the emergency services but couldn't resist a bit of politics it's only by how do you every past government in a robust economy they're able actually to invest in long term funding for flood defenses last word so this man. That's Westminster campaigner Steve Brody interrupts or of many a t.v. Interview he's just been announced as the Lib Dems candidate so expect to hear plenty more of this. Over the next few weeks. Sunny Boston your reporting for p.v.c. Radio listening to the wake up call with the end Collins of all the little factoids we bring you throughout the course of the program on a daily basis here we have teams of people working their socks I think of Santa as elves but in the factoid Department all year around here the b.b.c. . Hitting the coal face of brutal facts this is probably the best one for a long time Ok so it's 50 years this week since the b.b.c. Started broadcasting in color we're not talking more about that by the way we should be talking about the 50 years half a century since the b.b.c. Started broadcasting in color Ok but it's interesting you can still buy a black and white c.v. License but this throws up all manner of questions firstly where can you buy a black and white t.v. . Can you get a black or was there anywhere that will flog you a black and white c.v. I've never seen one of these things so when I was a kid we had little I had little portable one of the bedrooms a tiny little thing. Loved it because I mean you could sit up there and you know if you watch an old movie it was even better as they were in black and white anyway so fantastic Can you still get a black and white series so there it is 50 years ago this week that the broker the b.b.c. Started broadcasting in color so we're going to get one of these things how why who were eccentric but how many u.k. Homes still have black and white and what is a black and white t.v. License cost you anyway so how many u.k. Homes are only but they're not buying the color license they buy the black and white license they don't need it you know who are these people for goodness sakes or how many homes in the u.k. Are still watching t.v. In black and white 29000 for goodness sake and what does it cost if you want a black and white t.v. Radio this is a belt it's also just spotty huge discussion here in the studio so 50 years ago this week the b.b.c. Began broadcasting in colors rather interesting little fact to take away from you for the day but you can still buy a black and white t.v. License so that was always the thing you get a color one or a black and white one I would just argue or think it musing I think is the world where would you even buy a black and white veil come back to that in just a 2nd but also how many u.k. Homes are still watching him black and white. This is extraordinary there are still 6 and a half 1000 homes so 50 isn't 6 a half 1000 homes that only have black and white all they certainly pay for a black and white c.v. License and the difference is interesting in cost because you want your full blown color number that's $154.00 pounds 50 and that's what Bri I pay that just for this program frankly but all that goes with it Website music cetera but if you get a black and white one it's only $52.00 pounds a year only $52.00 pounds a year so it's a 3rd of the cost places where the most popular black and white t.v. Licenses are top of the us is London there are 1311 black and white t.v. Licenses in London in Birmingham 323 Manchester 245 Glasgow has 136 Leeds 121 Who the heck is watching t.v. In black and white we just did a cursory search to try and Mike jolly one of our producers here just went online to have a look we couldn't you find those on e Bay So secondhand ones of people haven't yet that if you want to brand new one you've got to buy from the States so if you walk into Currys tomorrow and said to a kid car is going to get a black and white t.v. They probably would think you're talking about that the color of the furniture around the t.v. We have got some in silver as well if you like no black and white pictures what they don't exist apparently they do and that got us talking about the t.v. License and we were remember they detected vans that used to go around the streets I don't know when they did away with them there was probably a law that said you can't do this because of course the t.v. Detective on wasn't a t.v. Detector. A van a top t.v. License setter told it was just a an empty shell really it had a big aerial thing that span around like something from some 1960 psi fi flick and it would say it would suppose that if you saw the home I could have a t.v. Like you're going to get one and it didn't actually do anything it just made people sketch head into thinking that the states were spying on you with their goblins on 4 wheels and matey would drive around the streets saying I got one at number 6 hour however we've got it got worse than that it wasn't just the van that went around they even talk about existence talk about what this country used to be like they have t.v. Adverts warning you of the perils of not watching or not having a license while watching t.v. Have a listen to this yes there's a. Number 5. It's in the front row. Now watch in Colombo if you don't have a t.v. License it won't take us long to find you they just made that up there. There was another one later on whether used to say they're in the dining room watching Coronation Street I'm sure. That well you'd never get that part of the advertising standards these days because it's just a lie there protect the government to pretend not only to know that you don't have a t.v. License but their equipment is so high tech they can even identify the room you are in and the program you are watching and watch. Can you just hear that again this used to go out on prime time television warning of the perils of not having a t.v. License Yes there's a. Number of. It's in the front. Now watching Colombo if you don't have a t.v. License it won't take us long to find you and all that was happening there it was a bloke in the back of a van talking on a Woodbine white and look at it is what's going to pubs to be out and so now for mooching around the streets of the country scaring people there are various This is in Recent his this is like from 863 that's probably from 1973 or something goodness me but the reality is 6 and a half 1000 people still have a black and white license and I'm suspicious of those people and in fact if I was running the game I would send those detective on rounds to all of those homes that are claiming they're watching in black and white I bet none of them have seen Colombo in recent years you're listening to the wake up call with Ian Collins on b.b.c. Radio Kent it's 10 to 8 now we told you 3 weeks ago about market traders in Ashford who are worried that they could go out of business if they don't move location where they've now told us that change could be on the horizon since we told you that the remaining traders were campaigning to move back up the High Street the council have met with them to discuss the move let's now speak with Peter Rosen who's a spokesperson for Ashford market morning to Peter good morning to 'd you and so so last time we spoke you the market sits at the bottom of the high street. Which is not an area that has an awful lot of footfall which was the problem you had and of course the few market traders now anyway because of that so half a dozen of you also and you wanted to move to the top end of the High Street sort of the marks and where Marks and Spencers was where it's a little busier Yes very simple request very reasonable request one of the council now told you. On Monday 'd we had a meeting with the regeneration to tell simple Cloete which we discussed all of this and it was quite an open and frank discussion everyone had their say. And we put forward a proposal which they went away. 'd now going to discuss really the ball is in the councils court because we have done as much as we can. And I am very very positive that I think we made a point the guys who 'd made the point I think should be no reason not to be moved to 'd the top of the Talmud and as I say it's in the it's in the councils area and you wouldn't think it would be much of a big decision to really join the top a and is in a difficult place anyway because Marks and Spencers was incredibly dominant all not part of the high street it was right at the end and it's an area that needs something more going on the sclera the space that to do it you think that would be a decision pressure on the council are sort of how these things what do you think that might be made in about 2 minutes on this issue. And you know those things are really because a lot of other inputs to it such as you know parking etc for disabled and READY all the other sort of READY. But no I think. We are for a very good and I don't see any reason I do my colleagues why we shouldn't be granted the right to return and I mean the other thing too because it is that as we've always said we would support retail area was going to lose stepping on Marks and Spencers our cause and I understand one or 2 others might be going so you know we were going to come in with something different saying I wish we could have 20 stores and that that's already been a main sticking point for the council and I don't think we can do it. That's what will happen at the moment how many stores you have a low rent and we have $1012.00. But of course you get sickness you get holidays together. Don't all appear on the same day. But we've got a good mix and quite honestly we know and through radio kind and attentive we we've been getting quite a lot of good feedback on social media. And I think that we also can wind up a lot more store holders of different different. Selling different things and. We are very positive and being so holders we have to closeted because we like farmers because of the weather. And it also you know 11 has a reasonably assume you know. A market it's quite a nice part of the town center identity as well is that I mean it runs nicely in conjunction with the sort of part of the retail stores is it sort of adds something I think most people would think of what we've been saying we've been having this discussion since. We put this forward and we can only add to it and give people a reason for coming into town I mean the reality of other reasons but we will be there and they can spend their time browsing and it becomes a focal point so you're suggesting to go on the site say. A lot of people build friendships on store you know it isn't just a case you actually get to know people when they come along and. Get that kind of community thing. Which is sometimes overlooked. And again 6 months you've been trying to sort of argue this case is it is it likely to be what does counsel a cloak he say in terms of the timeline here when we agree that this is because Christmas is so new and obviously there are other things in the pipeline for him to do we would just we would be talking about it but any if it should come true then obviously we wouldn't be moving to the new Here Ok so at the moment but it's all positive. Because some you know we've been. through 'd that Republicans will show sometime in the New Year we might get a response and I'm sure we'll speak again Peter. Nice want to go Peter thank you Peter Peter Rosen is a spokesperson for Ashford market we said this last amount you know markets come in different forms have an enormous market just awful with road absolutely massive What a Saturday morning you get everything you wanted there. Wanted to move the items for sale but broadly speaking everything from you know your football kit to a new fashionable skinny jeans your tank top whatever it was you wanted down there sweets phage fruit the whole lot it was incredible a real buzz it's a much smaller affair and there it sits there in the High Street and why would you not want to put it in but the high street is in trouble surely anything that gives a bit more focus would be welcome but we will watch with interest and of course we'll bring you any developments on that here on b.b.c. Radio Kent Ok let's time for a bit of a ham break turn some light relief you might call it it comes well it's a world view if you like but through the prism through the eye of Mr Steve and Alan . The University of East Anglia's union council says the campus will now be at the Freezone vases cause some outrage in the gammon community which sounds ironic when the people who love to read about this they were red in the face and out of breath so either they were angry Well that's just their normal state it's hard to tell clearly this will upset some if you're going to. Trying to do the Atkins it's touch and go as you lust and it's not actually a vegan issue they say they're doing it to become more environmentally friendly the amount of resources that go into growing beef is quite a loss from that I assume they would sell mates as long as it's low carbon which means Gretry better watch your back if you really want but if there is some good news you can still buy beef pretty much everywhere else if you walk into a supermarket or corner shop there's even something similar to beef in some fast food restaurants they haven't banned they just ban the sale of beef they haven't the item I'm a possession illegal and that would go too far because it would push it underground and then you'd have to speak to the dodgy types of student parties Yeah. Get me some stuff yeah fix you up with me. You know you got me Angus be carrying any good fruit finest. Deal I'm cool man if you called me wrong in the trunk any praising agent any milking cows by. Slowing to low. P. . Stuff. Steve Allen States podcast of course there are many of them are available to download if you go to the b.b.c. Enjoy the huge back catalogue leaves labyrinth vinyl library that are podcasts and all manner of things that search out Steve Allen couple more issues coming in from you reference the general election there's an awful lot of comment from such a spectrum of you said James as this is Labour's to lose regardless of headlines or confusion labor the only party with a coherent policy on Bracks it when you break it down the choice of leaving with a deal or a good deal which Boris claims he has anyway or remaining is only something Jeremy Corbyn is offering it's a no brainer for those who get to think about it sadly live in a country where people don't care about the detail they just care about the headlines that is counted by Lewis who says actually the Liberal Democrats are the only party with a coherent policy same word Albrecht's it will cause those 2 parties are quite unequivocal in their sense and labor on the conservatives have stood slightly accused of being muddied in their breaks it policy what do they mean in reality today of course we may be moving beyond matters breaks it and we'd be fighting not to bring you up to date health seems to be top of the agenda with parties vowing to outspend each others also news on candidates who were to be standing but about decided against standing some candidates who've decided to stand others that have been told to stand down not of their own choice it's another cracking day over there on the election sure I will bring you more in the next hour also gender identity children as young as 5 have been referred for treatment many of them from Kent the concerns are various But most seem to surround the issue of whether children or even in a position to think about changing gender will bring and speak to those who had direct experience of making these decisions on the way 96.71 a 4.2 f.m.
