Everybody repeat after me. And Jason. Lovely to see you again. Thrilled that you came down to b.b.c. Introducing life here because you know it's kind of a return to Yad I want to thank you for inviting me you know real quick on us but it's lovely because you know people have this idea that it's just white indie bands or as a cyclical willowy kids teenagers with with guitars but it's for everybody yeah it is yeah and I 1st played I came across in 2009 or something when we were doing b.b.c. Introducing in the middle of the night on 6 Music Yeah and. Everyone had told me that I'd never be able to play any of your songs on live on b.b.c. Radio and yet you came up with a song called my music and it was great and we got in touch and you did share much to my surprise I thought it was a hoax profile to be honest yeah because back in the day my space was full of them want to you know it was a lot of my stuff. That was what I really was still kind of ranting to very few people in cellars and not again yeah yeah ranting to very well virtually no one you know but he got keep going on and you know all it just it just builds and builds so the track that we just heard his was it was already started to motor on up would see the tears was e.p. Love and of getting behind Yeah I mean we don't our story dogs and we were we just got buying back into the living room and recorded dividing x. Which is was. You know after work every now. And yeah you know it was quite intense period the important thing about babies introducing is that it's it's local it's you've got D.J.'s all around the country yes expert of what's going on and yeah Dean Jackson is a legend anyway because he's he was doing very much he was doing the beat long before big cities even existed he was a nice he's met them or you know he's met quite a host of legendary sort of music you know I mean he's always been very supportive and he's a lovely bloke Danus Well let's just hear what Dean has to say about e.j. So I 1st came across the voice to b.b.c. Introducing way way way back I think in 2008 and I'd love to say I had some sort of the Pitney and realize the potential that you have but if I said I'd be lying there were new sort of brash and I just didn't get it from honest people trucks. Followed in their content just made it really difficult for me to broadcast them even if I wanted to it wasn't until one of the members of fallen off the band The smears persuaded me to go and see them live that the penny dropped by now that was 2012 ahead of the release of their next album Astaire and he dogs and I emailed Jason it was a bit of a nervy email really something along the lines of I know I haven't supported your music at all so for I wouldn't blame you who told me to get lost but I really like what you do now and I wonder if I might have any tracks to play my radio program please while I received the loveliest of replies from Jason he sent me the radio at it and agreed to come on the show as a guest as well so we ended up I think we ended up with a couple of exclusives actually he's been back in the time since even car sharing with me as I drove through sheer wood where he lived at the time behind Glastonbury last he was seeing sleep close the coverage on b.b.c. One it brought a warm glow you know you can't really overstate the importance of sleep to not a music scene there shown at the underdogs can make it and make it spectacular as well and I much love by musicians across the genres especially rappers and grime artists so bigger Jason and Andrew are bless him isn't love it that is near is inane but as you say he knows his music yeah big time you know more you know so. Yeah I mean it was it was really nice you know kind of going to watch him. So today's been wandering around this event can you describe to listeners kind of what you've seen and your general impression of this kind of aircraft hangar of a place yeah I mean it's it's been good talking to people who've come in here and they're like bringing the children's along and playing and for the people and people are giving their opinions on them and people are you know they're really sort of eager to try and get on you know and it's. It's interesting it really is you know it's also you're giving advice to people and it's just me and all sorts of people from independent radio stations in. Independent magazines in label so. You know the industry is obviously very much alive you know. And it's it's it's good to see people trying to find their way in a business that is largely very confusing and. Can be very vicious and very cruel but at the same time if you stick with the rewards you know massive Well yeah you and I were in conversation in front of an audience in one of those aircraft and as earlier on yeah. It was lovely because there's a certain there's a palpable warmth coming off the audience you know as as they start. As they started to laugh at the jokes and rather twinkle in your eye and I think. There's a lovely feeling in the room by the end of it just the applause at the end but yeah . It was you know it's nice to come down and say again you know I mean yeah totally and in the course of that there was a band that have only just discovered about 23 weeks ago Ok call those snowflakes It's all there is on the full name no no it's not but. We thought that if anybody could give them some handy advice on how to steer their careers forwards it might be you so yeah we actually recorded the interaction. Let's take a listen there is a band that like to introduce you to this point because it's nice to kind of pass the wisdom around at an event like this and as a band I only discovered 23 weeks ago who sent us a record and we've been playing it on my 6 Music Show but they have much the same problem the early sleeper buds and bring a mike down to a band sitting in the in the front row here from Blackpool can you tell us the name of the band please our name is snowflakes. Those snowflakes and the name of your debut single is stopping. So Jason you can understand that we have problems talking about them or their Yeah what would you counsel the band to do in order to carry on with their mission probably change a name I think. Definitely changing. Some tiles probably or not you know and that's the content in the songs probably no I don't think that's essential you know I wouldn't worry about that I would definitely change the name 6 Music by a band called holy I mean I could be wrong in my wir you know if you're into it just stick with it never really for anyone who actually pay attention to a band name wasn't a concern and we released the song in 2 weeks layover here. And and so they were Yeah yeah I think the key thing and what we had through all the seminars is the music does have to be extraordinary So yeah you know you've heard the track yourself it's it's not just a kind of piece of rubbish could govern again as no brilliantly played with huge energy and verve and definite I mean I spent most of the afternoon with him or me in pain. And there were you know good large you know. It's not the talk of music for me but he certainly wasn't so he wasn't you know I mean. He got some of going on you know. And the quite serious about it very serious you know and they're all live in these laws working blah blah feck to buy this. And they got their antenna you know so it directed in the right places so. Any lie keep telling me one just keep going yeah there's a great video for the song which is of course we can't make any reference to it on radio. But it does have the uncensored version of the song and for some reason they seem to wearing blonde wig I have no idea what that's about. Let's just move smartly on and you've got a great gig coming up in London really nominated for Paulo Yeah Yeah Yeahs going to work it now there's only a few tickets left Spano i percent sold into she speak yes night percent So yes going to. Well in fact if you want to get to see Jason Jeremy now safe and modes you really had better buy your tickets now not going to be any walk up on the. Ticket touts and stuff probably not to know I mean I do know. That listeners get in there and in the meantime there's also a follow up to your debut book yet you brought. So it's a follow to blah blah blah can't say the 2nd word. Kind of a few paces a different. Day for the Guardian I think it's a. Basically range from 2004 President. And a dedication to. The on the cover. You know not you know. It was a quote it was a 2004 game from the man himself so we fought with. So good thank you. But the books. Press publications Jason Williams is a pleasure Tom Robinson feelings mutual So this is my favorite track of the moment of yours this is discourse thanks so much thank you. We. Appreciate your. Call. Call call. Call call. Call. Call call. Call call. There is a. Discourse. Sleeve had modes that that's from each in the live current current album that sounds at the moment it's Tom Robinson from 6 Music here with various friends and colleagues from across the b.b.c. Introducing network coming live from tobacco dock in London and good friend he joins me now on this very special live broadcast going out across the 40 b.b.c. Stations that are the backbone of b.b.c. Introducing be the big ace people. And it fills so special days of then when you walk around the energy that he can't help but feel like he inspired and excited I just want to say Tell him you've been doing a stellar job and we get a round of applause from Miss It's already been said. I wasn't expecting that. You've been out and about and seen a lot of brilliant interesting stuff I'm going to be picking your brains about that but 1st did you get to see Ronnie Johnson Pinto I've heard lots of good things but I actually didn't get to see them myself so I has seen and even seen him Well John's pages and has been supporting her. Being supporting her jam supernova on one Xtra she's really kind of straddling the stations let's just hear this track from last week's b.b.c. Introducing mixtape. On the b.b.c. Introducing mix tape. You can see why John's police sounding. She played the. B.b.c. Introducing live. Joining us here on this simple cost across the rise across the nation have you heard about the project that I have heard lots about I keep saying Christian rush balls with his blue hair trying to find each and every single member I'm From what I hear he's done it and got some good results so yeah I am very intrigued about this I'll be honest. And I'm about to bite off more than I can chew I've set myself the task of making a brand new band I retain the b.b.c. Music introducing a tobacco dock today once I've got them all together I'm going to chuck him in for a few hours and get to make a brand new piece of music and hopefully some magic for b.b.c. Introducing and 6 Music This is in step back. In keeping with the theme of bringing people together who've never met before to make credible music I'll be working on this project with somebody. They Yeah Hi I'm Joe Johns in from d.c. Introduced in Suffolk and today I'm so glad to be part of this group of a criteria for the ins to bank 5050 gender split from different regions all across the u.k. Maybe even internationally and different stones maybe mix with it jazz people the singer songwriter. But it seemed like a really good idea couple days ago and now that I actually have to do it I'm terrified this place has heat and there are so many people. You want to get and then figure out how we actually. Do they need to find somewhere for them to record yeah yeah I'll be thinking that keeps all of us together and yet let's do this so here's how it went down 1st I caught up with who gave us the inspiration and blessing to do once the band we've done the b.b.c. Body in a fountain 4 times now every single time they do it they absolutely smash it but this is the big one this is the big one isn't it yeah yeah give me some advice that went well you can begin with it find a wild card anything else know just how fun it was a good place to start from the top or in the case of bands from the front in the form of a front person I'm standing outside and pick. Faults result. Coming from inside this room. I play kiss and sing and I'm from Spain so our 1st member was fired off to a great start next up I swung by the Yamaha center who let me hop on stage and hold an open mike to find a guitarist and bass player like I need a guitarist if you want to have a good look now she chats hop up on stage. Some singer songwriter from Stoke on. Contest it was a run plus for her he's going to be remembered. As Marshall a bass player for most. Months called the oh. My It's the band Thank you so much we've got our bass player so it goes without saying the drummer is the backbone of any and we need to find somebody it's really good care and I. Look at the guy the blues. Or any of you ladies rock hers too long the day's been tracking out 5 or even to establish I mean and then I'm kind of now for the mishaps and I am. And I sing in I'm from can you be at the rock to look 1 o'clock to join our band of course wonderful Kitty thank you very much for join my aunts by there's a rapper also managed to find a wild card off the back of a recommendation from somebody I met earlier in the day hey I'm just I'm from Australia I play the violin. It's the band of convenes they are currently in the Russell practicing rehearsing and composing a new piece of music and tell you just met the band 1st books what you think what I would say the room there was so much energy you could feel the bus to look for they really knew each other a manufactured band it felt like a bust of energy to create brains like match together they already look like a bunch of stone age fantasies and they also really. Like to know the mission that we've got on our hands is to try and find all of the equipment that they're going to need to be able to record this saw the my member on a hunt for some speakers so the guys can rehearse the song so no Marshall and I found. A favor we bring these speakers can you help us no problem let me hook you up thank you so much we may not have a performance space somewhere on the hunt for somewhere where great can record. A bunch and someone who may be able to help can you offer us any of those you know well because spare studio space upstairs right now going to come bring the band oh my gosh yes not b.b.c. Radio studio there were recording older large sessions start coming from bring about an hour we could just about nothing thank you so much I'm going tell them right now I managed to get our equipment and space for the Inspire and I wonder if they've even got a name yet I'm going to head back to function and let him know there's tons get the show on the road we need to get record and. Hello so your time is up it's time to take you up to the b.b.c. Studios in record day so we're ready yeah let's do this. So we're joined by Kristin the studio now how do. You have to change a lot of fun when you easily do. Most stressful experience of my entire life like having kids is a cakewalk by comparison to like trying to control 6 federal musicians and getting a focus for 3 hours to write a song the words are the words I heard in cash. Yeah never a more accurate description Yeah I didn't want to say what he said it was what did the Italian girl say to us today as well when we were trying to edit the package together it's like having pepper up your bum she said and if it hadn't been pepper and about her remarry exact term that she used in Italian it sounded much better in Italian in the city didn't like to go to stroll. So crazy fantastic Joe you together with Richard Hall have already curated the mixtape for his earlier this year yes thank you for the way which is just lovely having you on hand has How's the whole thing been for you it's been well bit into bandages the whole event that way instead and we just heard better but how about the Hell bent or no grey has from the insta been so still right the whole event's been absolutely amazing I remember coming in last year and just new and just having fun and the she had been so involved and saying hey we're here just absolutely amazing had such a great time you've picked a piece of music 1st can you tell us about this yes well actually I love this because because well what she was going to talk with Christian who are now great friends with about her injuries and journey she's going from strength to strength supporting and Sharon you know I think the b.b.c. In 2 days and so this is her tragic life in session controlled. I'm in. Love and you know you Botha's by Angela Joseph from Dave's introducing in Suffolk that's Caswell control in session for show it's Tom Robinson here in the company of Abby McCarthy from the legendary b.b.c. Introducing him can't show a while that's right thank you well this is the track record I mean even before you joined the team they used to kind of completely punch above its weight but you've overseen a huge kind of wealth of music talent come from Ken Yeah we've done alright in can we've got people like slaves who I think a lot of people knife of being a great live band but I mean. It would be kind of down but was into Williams in the by and it's been great to see a real exciting new generation of the tell me to come to the show as well including about stay who on the 6 Music and it's so amazing it is because you know you're I've been playing them kind of in the middle of the night yeah on our introducing shows and off they got. Lovely to be sharing that what else have you experienced in the course of the street days down here oh I've been busy very very very busy I actually got to catch up with Larry from slaves yesterday I did a big q. And a with him and I quote with Marianne as well so people can check if they want to say I did a. Show with the big man. Where I was very confused and didn't really understand what was going on but I think the audience liked it there was lots of mentions of Reba than delay and stuff so that was really good fun and then today I got to have a really insightful job with Ga who I think is just brilliant she's making some of the most exciting music of her career and she. She writes and produces all her music and she broke that down for us in detail so obviously her dad's in left field so he gave her a few handy tips at the start which is not too bad but then she's really really so her and her craft and learn how to make every single thing herself I love is her live show is just her it's you know her solo with loads of energy just surrounded by instruments and yeah that the chat left me feeling so really pumped up inspired a full I could go make music now you know is that good we've had you on 6 Music in the introducing mixtape of course and you also do stuff already Yes when I'm lucky enough I get called up to. It's lovely to see thing being spread around d.c. To d.c. Gradually spread. Tentacles across the way so you did you see Lily more oh i did i am such a huge fan of I could go. Her live is propagate stuff she is just incredible I think she's super special and is going to go very far so this is a live shot from this is now and I. Just . Aloha. We would. Axonal that's really more now I know recorded live a tobacco dog and she is on the cover b.b.c. Introducing mix tape having McCarthy and Tom Robinson here bringing you the final hour of this extraordinary simulcast across 40 stations of the k celebrating b.b.c. Introducing live to back a look in London what a weekend what a weekend but I've got a highlight of my own here an artist who that we've been supporting on 6 Music introducing since the late noughties he was in a great great band called the October gang I'm thrilled to say that his solo work is even better welcome to Luke James Williams It's lovely to see and finally with a guitar in your hands I thank you very much for having me so this is a song that you're about to play for us which completely blew me away earlier in the but also we put it on 6 Music as a 6 Music recommends track and we got played on shows and there's so many compliments came from the other deejays across the station. Please would you play for us still in bed thank you. Try to set down the. Juice or to. Fire up our dog. Part sure. Watch you do to me about the fingers you say shake cool me. Any ufo Gand. Was still like that filled with. Loose them. Live. But you said burning your left. Side to say. You. Do. And thought I'm sure Borg still carrying you and. I'm sure. More choose to see me eat about the feelings you say shake the core of me. And you follow me. Feel like building where the. Waves 5 you say. 6 are. You followed me. To. Say. Was I. Still. Say. Look James Williams with still in bed from his e.p. Drove which you can find together with his upcoming tour dates at Luke James Williams bandcamp dot com Thank you so much for coming in to sing for us live thank you very very much for inviting me absolute pleasure and I thank you nice one. Abby what you were reckon how was it say Bob was it Mikey so much like. It's time for a big reveal now and we've got Christie in hand. To actually let us know how the insta band worked Alan Yeah we've got the actual track to reveal now that we had think Evan is going to get with the weird thing that it was we knew going into this that very small part of this was actually about the end result it was more about the journey you know is it was more about getting these people together to see if this was actually possible and see if we could utilize everything introducing life to make it happen well is it time to hit the bottom let's do it gives it gives a countdown 3 to get. Out A solo a. Week on the downslope a space Ok let's keep the place. You can take the. Place. If you. Know such a. Time to. Spare. a lead I'm going to take. A man who was. Thinking in the end we were going to kill the band we've only got one. That will go through the 1st one then I. Mean it would have been possible without all of the incredible people who have been down here introducing the Jackson the rot in particular is just so it really helped us make this come together and all of the. Engineers and everybody. Quite the experience is. Going to be putting together a bit more of like an extended for the I want to look at never again never again. Next year you're going to have to do another you have to up the ante next year I feel sorry for whoever is doing it because I mean. You know Julie going to put together like an interview and extra package so if you want to find a bit more about what makes these are sticks and how we really made this come together will be more ammunition in 5 minutes you can really get through the emotion of how they're feeling and never done anything like this international. Yeah it was said that if I think and then being broadcast across 40 stations. You know trying to plunder whether they can sign up for p.r. I said you know Rick I don't know but I did try to discredit the hospital so we could do this then we came down to this thing expecting to you know just meet a few people and have bit of a wild experience and I think what we ended up making was some really great friends of the band that we brought together and it was it was beautiful to share the experience with them and feel like we were part of it as well so thank you 1st and foremost to all the musicians who basically sacrificed their day yesterday to come and sit in a darkened room for 3 hours and music and you're going to go and see us to crazy people popping in and. It's Tom Robinson here from 6 Music with various friends and colleagues from across the interest introducing network including And Joe Joseph Kristin Carla and of course my co-host for this hour Abby McCarthy. Who have you seen from across the networks we've had Alan roll in here actually doing his photography thing filming James Williams as he did that extraordinary performance for us that I'm sure is going to appear on You Tube before very long. Into kind of everyone that's the amazing thing about. It without getting a bit emotional Well one big family and a community. We get to get together and really spread the message of b.b.c. Introducing and. Sitting down with Ellen from Cambridge right tell me what's good I need to know I was chatting to Ali as well from the Essex just swapping tips and that's what it's all about isn't it just spreading amazing music so yeah it's been a great weekend. From Devon and Cornwall but also earlier in the event. We had. Vic Galloway from b.b.c. Introducing in Scotland. Who's absolutely flying with enthusiasm loving it and he's got a real veteran trooper Oh yes he's a legend Disney he's late of it he totally is both an elven would normally have been with us she wasn't able to come but Meg Richards kind of stood in for her and we had a very very fine time. I'm not sure how to announce this next band if you go in the ideas here I think I've got a bit of an idea I saw them recently in London I'm going to guy with Chappaqua wrestling and they all phenomenal This is a live shot from them recorded right it is called Trace. Champ chip a quad wrestling supported body in Shiism show in money money on the mount what incredible bond and that was punk trees Well we're just getting ready to say goodbye to our listeners across the b.b.c. Introducing network nationwide all 40 stations as the b.b.c. Engine is still packing up around us the room is absolutely crowded with the whole a.b.c. Introducing family. Lovely adding McCarthy a pleasure to recovers and with us or with us pleasure thank you so much the weekend I'm thank you so much and she said family that was supported by Ana surrounded by Yet what we can't going to take awhile to let us all sink in I think Ok if people listening at home around the country would like to hear the rest of this project and they had and it's not coming from b.b.c. Introducing live at tobacco don't because the engine is getting ready to pack up and kick us out.
