By the end of the week I'll be absolutely amazed but on a bright note my jumper smells of dinner and we went to see some friends last night Richard and Caroline and Caroline cooked up a wonderful wonderful roast dinner and. Actually if only this was you know digital radio would allow you to sniff I'd let you have a Spitta Silverside roast potatoes she did something weird with with Brussels sprouts we were going to because you know it's a way it's a family audience of this time of day but no it was very very delicious I hope your morning is good that morning being Monday the 30 of the December 29th 8 is b.b.c. Radio Humberside here's what I tell you what I'm looking forward to this later on I'm a big Wallace and Gromit fan and we've got a special program on at lunchtime today we're celebrating the 30 year career of Wallace and Gromit a special program about how their creator Nick Parks came up with the idea for all those films over the years how did he invent the characters and how the heck did he ever persuade the actor Peter Sallis to become the voice of Wallace emergency countdown 10 seconds and counting the ground is like nothing else cinematic tour de force quick grommet think a grand was the opening shots for something that's a masterpiece it was designed for people of any age I think it's like the beginning great adventure they were on the moon so it was one small step for class to see one great leap for film. And think of. My name is Nick Park and I'm the creator of Wallace and Gromit let me their family I feel like I know them and yet if you were to ask me about them especially about things I don't know about things they haven't done yet you know I feel like I'd have to ask then that real you know a family. Being on a bus on my way into Preston and this lady got on with this big black man. Brutal and she got on the bus and said Come on let's sit down now don't make a noise. And I just such a great name but that was a name for a dog and I just took it and used it for Wallace the man and for the dog Yeah and it just had a ring to it Wallace and Gromit Peter Silas and the Professor of plasticine themselves Nick Parker today creating a new Wallace and Gromit Oh crumbs grow on me Peter Sallis was obviously a. Massive influence on Wallace I started filming of some of the non dialogue bits to start with and so Wallace has quite a and narrow face and it's because I hadn't animated any dialogue yet when I recorded Peter. I love the way he said things like cheese and one of the worst lines I did crack Gromit and I love the way he vocalized the syllables you know in a very big way in knew exactly what he wanted. nick tope me how to say every line and i suppose i could have been a bit of fan good but i wasn't i was china i thought this guy knows exactly what he once and i many too pleased if i can get it right do what he wants but i think they're like an old couple and it's about family because you know there have a conflict but they wouldn't have it go their separate ways they they will always be to gather all hourly nice oh i me or on the radio till one ad then we've got the wallison grab it program on one till to andy comfort on the radio to tool sakes i mean bodies a die of colon trial saul b.b.c. Radio homicide between 6 and 7 i add the sick shops of the a walk me through me oh doesn't seem that long ago but when you see it in black and white and you look at the styles in the fashions and the just the general kind of layout of the paper call it a different time it really is they they say helpfully down here the weather will be showery not today this is this was back in 1975 what else is here dairy herds growing bigger Britain's dairy farmers are keeping bigger heads on less ground a report published this week disclosed pop at your peril this is interesting part of your peril cigarette packets on sale in America for New Year's Day will bear the words warning cigarette smoking may be hazardous in your health or to your health even by order of law that's what Yeah that was one of the many stories I had on the front page of The Daily Mail which back in the day 1975 was of the kind of tabloid size it was the you know the full the full arc of the what it's called Never the big bush. That was that while there yet what else we got here in the sun This is. Page 13 of the sun game of one half of footy match was called off at half time as Abingdon town players losing 8 nil to Abington United. Brilliant and I love this one here as well this is very useful page 25 of the Daily Mail very useful the people like me who are gardeners out of the moment for reasons I won't bore you with that garden is just mud Mind you it's been like that for the last 15 years or so I was about I really won't bore you with the reason for that but Britain's apparently a falling out of love with neatly manicured lawns and well hedges in favor of grown gardens Iraq and the Royal Horticultural Society is predicting that the unkempt look dubs rewilding will be one of the big trends of 2020 all that is good news good. And. The problem. Is the way to. Go shake in the. I. I. I. I in a rare treat for all of us I'm on the radio all this week actually. Exhausted by Friday yet so this week we saw what we do was you know on a Friday afternoon Normally I go out and do it outside somewhere we do the program live from a venue where we've done that 50 times during $2950.00. That's a lot of people we've met and a lot of places we've been and we. Will we do I like to see a took a focus group and everything but that's what we do in between now I want to clock including the 1st one for Norm and be whole in a few minutes time. Good morning to you what you got the morning Phil will got problems that minute Iran has a lot of fried plants all of the way the a 63 as you know it is it's one length close there at the minute due to an accident it's going to affect you from the a 15 to primary ways like one of the 2 at his current close there so we here at the most look you know right now issues elsewhere though really at the minute across northern Lincolnshire all the roads all routes across the major towns and cities seem to be coping Ok public transport the minute we have a few delays possible in the northeast and services between am. Barrick speed restrictions like live a knock on effect service his coming into our area of the minute will not know the issues to make. Any problems of it safe to do so given the. And this show is still why. The Sun. Has got. Its. Thing to. Me. thank you. I was wish you happy. Here are saying hours yes Drew and dad and Sam Those that work until tomorrow is a writer you know there's no punctuation in this so let's just write with punctuation or put me on punctuation in this high fill it's Andrew the packing guy karma I want to wish you a Happy New Year full stop from Andrew dad and Sam full stop at work until tomorrow then back 2nd of January all the best full stop for a couple of full stop there for the coming year and what you wish for miss you every day it's still not the same Gar Andrew the packing Guy good morning to you and give my best best regards and love to dad and Sam as well with your hello to Jill hello Joe Momo Joe Here we go mojo from Barrow morning Phil glad I was listening earlier this morning or we would have missed you on the radio today yeah you just you know half an hour or so before the show you have a little chat we lose 11 know what's coming up she looked amused she has a week special as you got on now and he worked and we would have missed it we have a we have a wooden perpetual calendar and as long as you remember to change it every day you always know the month and the date unfortunately there is no provision for the day so we are in a constant fog as to what day it is what this time of year all today I have no idea no point asking me no education for more sales than entertaining says nothing about let you know what day of the year it is in the old charter there also I freshened up my favorite recliner before Christmas and I'm sure it shrunk just like your chair now. Let us know when your and again as you can't have too much of a good thing at Christmas thank you most and Joe and S.L.'s I get the shit the shepherd's crook 1 o'clock this afternoon I'm anticipating being back on the radio tomorrow morning around about 10 o'clock I actually dynamos on as well hello Phil I'd like to salute Texas one you know one trouble 3 The messages are a joke I'd like to thank you for nothing another terrific year of Phil on the road is he going to continue in 2020 I be very disappointed if he didn't says dynamos. Well I don't know I think we haven't been told one way or the other the bosses yet keep these cards cards very close to his chest dynamo and we'll find out not this week next week next Friday should be the 1st one back on the road if we're doing it but I you know this moment I've got me thermals out on the Sox are already on the radio to warming so we will find out together dynamo in you know in a in a while I guess yes and we've done 50 or so of these outside broadcasts on a Friday with Phil on the road which is something I mean I really do enjoy it's not you know it's not like working for a living you go around meeting loads of people having interesting chats about stuff usually in places a serve decent coffee and I've got cake as well I mean what's not to like and we've had 2 visits this year to Normandy hole and one of them sort of way back in March and then one just before Christmas as it turned out he is a bit of a listen to something we recorded way back in March when we were there and we were Maddy now Maggie Maggie Gray is the collections assistant looking after decorative arts at Normandy hall and we were there because I had this really interesting exhibition on called Behind the screen so we're in it as it turns out we're in a part of the building that has what I'm guessing is more of a sort of permanent collection of costume is that right these are ones that are already belong to the museum service in some way that's right these are the long North Lincolnshire museum services beautiful costume collection we have items that date back to the 1701 of which is on display here one pointed out Commission which which one are drawn trying to describe it is lovely one with the. Bridges That's right and that that Jack in breeches it's velvet pear pull with a little cutout black stars in the stripes that and say we've got peace like this that belonged to a reference on Parkinson he was a relatively local man and and I've seen some similar things in the and I saw very little of how some things that beautiful condition what is a good nick and these are all in very very big glass cabinets I can't physically reach through and touch it which is probably just as well because that's the last thing you need is. Greasy dirty fingers all over it that looks amazingly good condition it is it really is it's got silk lining and the problem with silk is that it generally tends to self-destruct so for that to still be all in one piece we're very lucky to have that we do have some beautiful close up images as well when he was saying about the glass the idea and on the t.v. Screen in the next room was to remove the glass of a person very detail photographs taken of these and I said you obviously you're not going to put out stuff that is in need a great conservation because that's that's not the point of the exhibition I suppose but do you have things in the museum's collection that actually you can't put out there are in the process of conservation That's right we we have a conservation list we we have things that have priority over other things because it's not just the question that needs conservation it's all of the furniture not just in the whole but in the entire western collection as well as the biology of the geology the social history everything so we have to be very careful about what we prioritize but we have about $8000.00 pieces in the kind of election here now in the same cabinet and there are 3 big cabinets in this large room there's what looks like a either a small lady's or a child's dress or some description a wedding dress or is that a wedding veil or the these christening outfits What are these so the idea of these items is to link to the other items in the hall that we've hired from a costume company so the one in the background is an $841.00. Wedding Dress and this is an $876.00 wax flower headdress and veil and they and show the equivalent and the kind of things that the costume company would use as inspiration and as research to create the real thing for the t.v. Screen we're going to do some Come come with me let's see if we can do something very is very advanced in radio terms I had to go to college for about 20 years and we didn't do this to the last week or 2 because it's an advance we've been talking at the same time as we go out of that room past another room it's got the t.v. Screens you mentioned into a big kind of car a door landing area. We're going to hang all right past the fire exit through to one of the bedrooms actually what's the story of the people talk about the costume hoarsely the story of the bedroom here whose room with the Sabine this would have been the man of the house this is his bedroom there the man and the lady had separate bedrooms so this is decorated in the region c. Style with Regency furniture and lovely big for paste about a nice looking nice looking very nice portraits up on the wall there a nice landscape on the right hand side as well yes and a couple of other costumes in here are 2 of the costumes that you've hired That's right yes and so we've had these from Casa prop based in London they make a lot of the costumes that you will see in period dramas in period films so what we've got here is Kate Winslet and beautiful evening gown from Finding Neverland. And on the other side of the bedroom we've got Maggie Smith from the 1st season of Downton Abbey my goodness and they are I mean they are gorgeous things and again you'd have to be an expert and probably way closer up to it that we can get to actually tell these weren't original mean they are amazing pieces of work on the I think it's really fascinating to be honest when I got these items and I open the boxes there was almost a little bit of disappointment because they look so amazing on the t.v. Screen and up close the way that they are made is that see beautiful but when I've been used to handling the real deal it was a very different experience I found that very interesting to see the little cheats that they have well it's not just the quality of them in the material is one thing but actually once you get the garment open they're a cheat because raising me they're not all lined off edition the same way inside That's right yes in the quality of the materials as well and so these are evening gowns from you know. A very upper class character and so it is a silk but it's not the sort of silk that you would see and I was sort of custom collection the fastenings a very different type of embroideries different and of course all of the jewelry is is costume jewelry rather than the. What about the the jets that you think it is by looking at the t.v. Screen and of course this you know it's obvious when you think about it but Sam has been very interesting for me to see those differences still beautifully mayors and the craftsmanship So you've got your complete collection you're kind of your standard collection that's here the whole time supplemented by is it a cost seems on Highway $12.00 and there in the reams of known to be whole and the idea was to change the reams of let us yeah they from a static for a long time and hopefully this will be the start of changing things and getting the names a little bit more interactive and getting people looking at them in a different way yeah that was back in March when we went to normal the whole for the 1st time this year we went again just before Christmas actually and we'll hear from Matty Matty gray again I little bit later on in the program about some of their plans for next year it's b.b.c. Radio Humberside 13 it's a 13 minute cities It's 13 minutes to 11. Please Top. Of the. Radio home aside and b.b.c. Look north Palm so returns with Mother Goose Unfortunately the role of evil king has gone to and the complex. Story King and the comforts had to. Take the jam out of those jamming touches and why haven't I got a sight time machine like Peter Levy. On the gets into carry to grab yourself a ticket and get ready for the show coming so that helps a way to stay in the 22nd of January. On Thursday the 28th the. Friday the 24th and the host city hall on Saturday the 25th and some they the 26 tickets are on sale now from the venues with all profits going to children in the. Shade of Bring only one to be with you 6 minutes to get the news that 11 would go Big Brian the text. Comes that after the news about but I've definitely got that and thank you very much we went out said I was a Christmas in the. Yeah we went to the comedy club at the home see Floral Hall on Friday just gone this was the laughing goal comedy club What an excellent night out that is there would have been $150.00 or so people in the audience I would have thought 3 comedians. And the fellow that I think is agro man com paring the show and he's you know he's a fellow that's done loads for comedy not just around here but right right around the north of England and in addition to everything there was pyro pays and I got to tell you if you want anything to do with the pie and peas. Floral well done you I'm still tasting bits of it and we got the source and or man it was good and it's only it's 10 pounds. And all the profits from the show go to the Floral Hall and they do it on the last Friday of every month so I'm not sure if you're not being before it's worth thinking about for the next Friday but it's comedy dot co dot u.k. Is where you might find out more comedy Doc Kodo u.k. That we want towards the end of January there and dial I am reaching Caroline we went with a saying you know we might we might well do that again that was it was really really good top of the bill was a fellow called Tim Taylor was his name that's it of always think of the beer when everyone he came out of so I think in a bit because it was his name Tim Taylor and he was very good he's well worth checking out so that's the last thing goal comedy club and also need to mention at the Floral Hall in home see they're doing this coming Friday which will be the 3rd of January just leaving a small gap for you to go January yet January 3rd of January 2020 they're doing a seaside soul evening at floral and they go to a 7 till midnight through 3 pounds on the door a night of Northern Soul of Motown and I tell you what the floral halls looking good at the moment are going to be a really excellent night out as well so how everybody in Holland see and particularly if you've got anything to do with the Floral Hall they're doing a sing out loud session in loud sing out loud for the Riverhead theater right now writing theater tonight it's got their little we're. Which runs till the 5th of January doesn't start to not go into the 5th January now they've added today every night yeah trucker got there Peter Pan the show 2 o'clock and 7 o'clock today and I think that's it I think they knew she had to finish of the Grimsby auditoriums panto's finished as well but you know there are things there are things to do.
