Spain went to the polls on Saturday I'm asking a question here will South Africa's rugby players be on a World Cup victory tour their country forever seems that way and when I was in Diamonds Are Forever remember I'm art school teacher was pulled out of a canal in Amsterdam to guess what the Dutch a pulling out of their waterways nowadays and did I mention that we are taking a big fight of the choose in l.a. In an hour's time lucky people. There are 7 severe flood warnings leaning a threat to life. Which remain in place on the river dawn in South Yorkshire there are 60 other flood warnings in place as well the Environment Agency says water levels are still rising on the river Trent and some communities are at risk of property flooding they expect high levels at 8 am this morning earlier police named the woman who was swept to her death by a flooded river on Friday she was doggish his former sheriff and he hall as she was 69 years old more wet weather fronts full cost across the u.k. Later tonight and again on Wednesday as low pressure hangs over the country Fiona Choi is the b.b.c. Correspondent for the North of England and has been staying for near fishlike where dozens of people have been evacuated the floodwaters have receded in some parts of northern England but the situation we have near fish like to night says that there are some residents in that village sure basically living on an island that's how it's being described by local people here completely surrounded by floodwater after the river don't bust its banks and all day for life specialist foreign rescue teams assisted by members of the local community have been using the boats to get those people and evacuated dozens of families from their homes then now being looked after in the local community center they don't know yet when they'll be able to return. Then Edwards lives in fishlike and was flooded rather than to have stayed here where will stand as Murray children mildly father eyepatch have been evacuated they left by the by about Iran this evening and we decided to stay very quiet which is still the same situation surrounded by water they had entire villages and the water very quickly people's houses were 1234 underwater and at an alarming rate several people had very little time to prepare for the essence trying those things and that's that's what's taken everybody by surprise in a matter of a couple of hours they were literally on the water these people in these villages built up businesses they were now businesses and have destroyed this people's homes that they've been living the caring for for years that a destroyed. Things that can't be replaced that people are just trying to rescue Well the property flooding will see many people making claims on their insurance policies welcome Tarling is from the Association of British Insurers flooding can be tragic it can be traumatic and very expensive for any control and any business the 1st impact the only priority for any insurer the moment that's got a customer who's been flooded is to help the customer get back on their face as quickly as possible these days your policy should be straightforward where your homeowner or business it will tell you what you're covered for and plug in is incredible part of how we consider most business policies Now some businesses it may be particularly vulnerable to flooding the lab had a history of selective there may be issues around accessibility to flood insurance but we believe that those issues should be overcome by using a good insurance broker who should be able to get recover the agency's need. Professor David Bohm for his advise in the government on ways of tackling flooding flood defenses is one answer and we and we certainly do have to continue to invest in defenses but it's not the complete answer we have a lot of existing towns and buildings and businesses which sit in the path of floods and we can defend for some of those but in others we can't they sit in planes they sit in the state valleys and as you've you've seen much last case there will be periodic flooding and more frequent in the future. We can do something however to help individual property level and it's something which we don't make a lot of use of at the moment but I think we will we will make more use of and that is to work on making the actual buildings and premises more secure from floods but I think the measures that firstly prevent the flood water from getting in so easily into these properties and secondly using finishes on the floors and walls which don't get that me so easily but I thought certainly the insurance industry and the Environment Agency have been very interested in impressing property level resilience which is what we call it recently we were producing a new code of practice which will be published this Christmas time with some guidance to follow the government has given grants for these measures in the past particularly when people are already being flooded it's certainly part of the answer and we can do a lot more with this than we have currently doing that really will be my my message to government this evening is let's use these techniques more effectively Let's get the insurers even more on board with this let's get properties out of being flooded restored to a standard whether by no means is susceptible and easily damaged as they've been in the past and then let's work with the communities and support them to hell with us as Professor David Bohm for food voices the government on ways of tackling flooding and I apologize if I misled you earlier on the Spaniards are going to the polls later today not yesterday as. Suggested Now Paul Knight is off at 2 o'clock tonight all because of the big fight at the Staples Center in Los Angeles to the world's biggest social media styles. And he can take each other on. In their professional boxing debuts where they're watching for 5 Live is kind of McDonald's This is really the battle of the You Tube business 100 percent delta Yeah absolutely welcome to the Staples Center where the last couple minutes Logan Paul has arrived he was with his brother he was with a couple of his coaches the rest of his team he was being a scar into the center here head of this fight with cancer a little bit later on of course we were chatting on last night's awful night about just how you think it deals these 2 guys are 2 of the biggest you cheaters in the world 40000000 subscribers between them and they've turned pro this year having fought the Manchester we know last year so tonight there's no head guards there's 10 times clubs you can if you are correct when you're across the face of one of them and it's k.s.i. If you look in Paul to see victorious the 2 of them I was not utopia by the Bushehr this is a grudge match they both really want to win they're both threatening that it's going to be a knock out early doors the fox reckons that's unlikely and it'll probably go a little bit longer than that both of them are trash talking but yeah absolutely grudge match k.s.i. Vs Logan Paul was writing too but this time it's true how many rounds is gadgets ago. It's going to be 6 rounds 6 rounds and also if it goes the distance will be here for Also it's a wait and see what happens bum season I was incidentally based on the way in yesterday so I could hit 6. The local poll which kind of matches what Ponce he's been saying all the way through that here so I was going to go for speed for kind of tactics and nipping around the ring brass Logan Paul an absolute tag He's huge He's got the 6 points on k.s.i. So he's going to take heavy hits work here so I'm going to try and net around the ring so yes because the distance it will be seen 6 runs between the 2 players and despite your Scottish brogue New York to see you obviously being influenced by America because I threw one in there for you gave you a little bit of a left jab by saying scheduled instead of and he ran with it almost as if you were fully bloodied fully paid up American goods but you know I don't even know a star and I know nothing and I've got to say on the way in the lovely American security guard my accent so make of that what you will what's going they thought you were Australian Did they think you will strike. And she was like where you guys rather got us and she was just like. You said it like that you said. You got out and she was she was getting absolutely this and this is going to be a great fight the 1st time the 5 of the 7 would cause something like this what can we expect. In a real book sing and in terms of entertainment because this is both and it's a mint and a sports isn't there where we're about to witness 100 percent yes absolutely so poncy it what we were blocking roads to get into the arena just a short time ago bomb sees observation was the crowd here feels like it can go through rather than a sort of typical boxing match the whites about it. Of course like these guys have very young people just kind of big teams upwards and looking around you really just know which is. They needed like a 3rd through I'm told so it's a young crowd for sure absolutely there's youngsters with parents definitely there's a guy there with the American sort of spotty baseball cap on backwards at his dad's looking up to the sky I'm not sure he's quite sure what to make of this to be honest the dad saw it as. Well and truly with it but you know so yeah definitely it's entertainment but it's boxing too let's not forget that these guys we did intend training camps for the last going to 12 weeks or so and obviously they've got money to spend so they've had the best I Titian's they've had the best trainers they've had personal checks looking after so they can get to shape their lives for this they're teaching it studiously and in terms of quality of boxing and yes we'll have to wait and see but certainly be noticeably improved on what we saw last year that's about $5000000.00 per round. That's going to be a lot of money we're going to see how it shakes. Based on last year's Finke where there was about $17000.00 to be created in Manchester plus $1200000.00 paper fuse box we can expect a lot of money to be swishing around in the next few days well we'll wait for the stats on all of that yeah they're going to walk away with quite a lot of money and he's going to win Kalamu you followed these do. You follow these 2 guys for some time social media wise he's going to win the trash talk and he's going to win the fight well the trash talk to Logan Paul in a heartbeat Absolutely we saw one of the press conferences the final press conference in fact at the for this fight takes place we saw like kind of slightly lose it looking forward been chipping away at it for the duration of that press conference and then 2 more right at the end but that of a shock when they were facing off against each other and I think that was just telling that actually it kind of boiled over sort terms the trashed up Logan pulp actually in terms of in the ring. I guess I should maintain some sort of b.b.c. Impartiality So to help me get off the fact while do as mentioned bombs. Great video on the b.b.c. Sport website where he's going to give his final prediction and he's backing a k s r u victory tonight so I'm going to just mention that that's where. And if I'm saying relatively near to him I guess I could maybe get away with that part I won't be drawn either way but Ponce who's the absolute boxing like. Is given it to care so I well. May be able to see the back of your head Calum on one of the t.v. Channels because you'll sitting right behind Joe where he's being interviewed he's a huge isn't a device Idol this way do I get my hair Luke Ok. It's not your best side pretty that. I really doesn't like the fact that give your head the back. You know oh I see I see and I can see the front of your head now you know sorry I thought I was here but there's one trait on the barrel. Absolutely listen this is going to be fantastic from your point of view there's a lot you know listeners to tune in for entertainment wise and so on when when it's all done and dusted is the best of 3. Great question so I think we could see a 3rd you know whether it's the seemed to fight I'm not certain but we were checking to add to her and yes. Of course been promoting this many many boxing fact let me just interrupt just because Justin Bieber survived at the Staples Center right now interrupted just a bit so here he comes he's wearing a yellow and a pink baseball excuse me not based look at. When we have which is his argument about 30 degrees so you know it's interesting that he's arrived we were expecting that but he's also one of the names that's flowing as a potential competitor for whoever wins this fight tonight so he's what Justin Bieber I kid you know is one of the names being floated as potential challenger after tonight. By we also mentioned on the on the episodes that we've been uploading to b.b.c. Science through the week you can just search for k.s. I look at Paul on there and we mentioned to her and also said that he's been contacted by a few people well known people. From Entertainment who we don't recognize you can give us names but he would all recognize we have gone talk to them saying whoever wins this tonight give them a show as well so watch this space I reckon this is just the start you know that I'm down we're young as are I seem to remember that Justin Bieber challenges Tom Cruise to a boxing match one. That is absolutely right the other interesting dynamic here as well is Logan Paul's history which he was a wrestler back in high school level and he's mentioned a few times the idea of getting into. Mixed martial arts so that's one to keep an eye on as well whether he gets a few for it with the boxing and then develops into a bit more of a broader fight career as well as we'll keep an eye on that one as well so I think nothing's off the cards really with leads to you I think they've they've benefited so much sort of parsley and career wise that made a fortune clearly it's dominate their lives it's dominated what the. Other social media for the last couple years I think they're on to a good thing I feel like they're probably not going to feel that way particularly quickly and then of course a challenge to make Jack good so far I don't think he was on the. Primrose Hill in North London I don't know whether he might. Make some might find them in the ring but you never know you never know you know well this is the thing is that the fantasy celebrity fights I think this this. Is symptomatic of a whole new world basically and I think that means that nothing should be ruled out I think this shows that you can bridge the gap between the sort of Internet world and the professional What's that in the background I'm going to test your musical knowledge what is that in the background of all don't do that because a poll might listeners that you bump. Rocket a long to go but that is what track is this is on the light what track is this record. Level. Please of alarm. Does show McClellan go ahead sound very limited leverage that's why it's better wander around here and 1st of all walking to the venue in a few venues over the last x. Amount of years as you can imagine and I've never seen anything like it because I honestly thought I'd gone to the wrong venue or thought I was coming into I don't know I'm not going to say just in b. Wish to crash to Cymbalta something like that and once I've got inside that's what the crowds like I've never seen so many moms with so many kids that you started when I used to happy because my cousin used to do in the seventy's when He also been supply you. Know my cousin it's like he's mom a lot of those bands gigs in the 70s up to true I don't look in here now and if I took chainsaw night shots here and asked you to tell me what crowd it was you'd never guess it because boy oh boy we're not in the boxing world we're in something else tonight Trust me that's not to devalue the fight but boy oh boy what is this I have no idea and this is why it is not to take the mickey out of you your cousin but when you your cousin was going to see the winds at the Rainbow things you park are I was still it said the boy and I was listening to their heard in the background do a nerdy that was Rebel Rousers I'm a rebel rouser Duane Eddy did you know know that now listen just just a ploy to hold on I don't often correct you you know it was my cousin no way movies are all the way in the cd also going to show you. Care which direction on that one summer all right. I'll see you. Drawing it during it are you drawing this is a lecture stance about 4 weeks ago these. 2 unbelievable novices sure they were all novices their 6 round file. But I knew how they trained and I knew what sacrifices they might that stopped a You Tube in nature stopped the business that might the pair of them still feel rich to sink their entire life somehow into this boxing guy and sure they're not very good I mean they're all very good let's get it right but they're not very good on an equal footing and that's what I think makes this so interesting to not just for instance I know you mash and some light night gamble is up Billy Joe Saunders who's defending his wild side of the box an unbeaten British boxer friendly as well title in about an hour's time he's read the book as one into 100 so you put a 100 quid down you get a pound back if he wins in a in a fight involving k.s.i. And Logan pull that just about even a 5 to 44 to 5 so that means you put out a 5 and you get 4 back or you put them full Could you get far back so I said it's a tight fight scene for and that's what we'll get it might be what we call a donkey double and if you think about it on the matter what your favorite sports is sometimes the greatest days you could watch and not spoil haven't been when the 2 greatest teams have been playing for the children ate his whole slices of toast been right against each other it's also the wind when the stars align to give you something unexpected you know what to say of course I know what you're saying enough in the last few days with droids you know with Calum on this program another was about the entertainment value of this are we missing a trick expecting this to be a great book Cimatron actually it's 1st and foremost and it's a with the kind of entertainment that the books in game as a spoke needs whether it be Mohammed Ali you know doing his Arlys shuffle whether it be any of the great entertainers of books in that element is needed in the game actually Slater and again what will guess we'll get an entertaining good fight. Simon It will be a lot of show business attached because of the quote unquote you chew sensation a belt that's kind of the unofficial beneficial sidesaddle one of them will leave the ring with but the bottom line is they will actually thought it would be good to watch because the so they post trying so hard and they both so willing and they lack lots of the rudimentary defensive skills that you generally develop in your years in its employees have an idea is that meant 3 intensive months and you talk about boxing benefiting from some of the some of the stuff some of the media style stuff these guys at the limits of this file get up close Yeah I think an awful lot of other sports could could could could could look at sure and a lot of what these guys have done this week never availability to what it markets at themself the new audience they bring in in the way they've spread themselves incredibly thin to be accommodating to everybody they've been a joy to work of and I really mean that and not sure that's played off because I was just talking to some guys I mean it I've got a boxing going to boxing online channel I'm not going to mention it and then their eyes are wide their what their eyes are shot I said Punch it once you've got I think 1000000 hits in 3 days so I said What would you normally get so I said well I won't mention the fire as one but a good British guy I said if we were free before days with him somewhere we might begin a 1000000 a 1000000 and a half so that's the type of business these guys are bringing They are put in our eyes on this fight and the boxing cynics argue it doesn't matter if 40000000 people watched a minute none of those are going to stay what argument doesn't hold water we don't need 10 percent but that 40000000 would have only one of only one percent of the 14000000 stays in boxing and comes to shows watches on t.v. Tyson type of use buys my next. Book you understand me it's plugged in for myself if I'm allowed clearance of course it is it one of the bones is a wonderful Can you see this having legs. So it's a want to. Because it will no longer be unique when it happens next but I don't think it so one often in history there will be more these these 2 guys could have a reign much like old site and then I can see all the people coming along what $0.81 a column in online yesterday and he buried it in when he was talking to us he said he said he loves the city and he also recalled that he told us he also recalled slightly pull from the world of sport and splitting into time including seeing as contacted me about fighting the winner so I said all these 5 people that could in theory get a license he said yes they had a right I each and there about the right size and it means that on the $35.00 and them above site 12 stone now I am telling you any of those 5 and we think one of them is Justin Bieber who's just into the building and if he is one of those guys and he be well well it's a flight Chi aside because he's Logan points friend I mean we might not be in Bill as we might be out those with $90000.00 m Telamon venomous Washington the truth. The Spanish people go to the polls later on today is the country holds its 4th general election in as many. Spain has been in a state of political crisis with no single party able to command a majority the acting prime minister produced Sanchez is attempting to shore up his position in the election all this comes less than a month after a sprain Supreme Court jailed 9 Catalan independence leaders leading to violent protests on the streets of cities in the Northeast region when Earlier I spoke to our reporter in Madrid Guy Hedgecoe and I asked him whether the far right parties are expected to benefit because of this period of political uncertainty Well there is a feeling that the far right Vox party has been surging in polls recently and is set to perform well most polls seem to suggest and the feeling that that that surge has been at least part due to the recent instability. The Turmel and Spanish politics but perhaps more specifically because of turmoil in Catalonia I think vox on set to do well they won 24 seats back in April the last election which wasn't a great deal but some forecasts to see suggesting they might double that number of seats in Sunday's election of course the body of General Franco the former fascist leader of the country was exam just a few weeks ago controversially obviously but how if it's all the fades in the elections the way the Spanish people feel about the post well that exhumation of Franco was very divisive in a way in that certainly voters on the left seem to feel it was a good thing there was a feeling that the exhumation by the the socialist government was a move which appeals to voters on the left and voters on the right many of them felt. For example that it was perhaps unnecessary that it was a distraction from more important issues and I think for those voters on the far right who were a small minority but they felt very strongly many of those voices on the far right that. This was a really bad thing for the country many of them were in the stylesheet for General Franco so they felt that he was somehow being insulted so there is a feeling that perhaps that that exhumation it could mobilize voters on the left but it could also mobilize voters on the far right who are angry about it and of course to add to the Blues who tomorrow the reasons arms are was the jailing as well of the 9 cats alone leaders who were found guilty of sedition I think essentially has that played a part in these elections it's all going to affect the outcome. Well that the Castle on issue overall has been the dominant issue in Spanish politics over the last few months and that jailing of those 9 cattle and leaders has really unleashed a big backlash in particular in Barcelona but across Catalonia and that really has been the focus of the election electoral debates all the parties have been talking about it but it's the parties on the political right who have been really focusing on it's much more because they're trying to pressure Prime Minister Sanchez into taking a much tougher line against the cattle an independence movement and against the pro independence Catalan government so Petro Sanchez has been under a lot of pressure there from his rights and means in the meantime the castle and government itself has been claiming that Petro Sanchez is part of this is a repressive state apparatus in Madrid so he's been under a lot of pressure because of the cattle an issue that has really monopolized political debate and what about the other parties concerning in this election or any of them know we're. Well we've got the main opposition Popular Party the conservatives who did very badly in the last election back in April but polls are suggesting they have been performing better and they could make something of a comeback possibly get back to 2nd place a strong 2nd place in the selection the party which is expected to suffer a lot is Sudan loss and other party on the right and there's a feeling that it may have lost a lot of voters to Vox that far right party so there's a lot of jockeying around there on the on the political right a lot of changes but the feeling is that overall the 2 blocs on the left and on the right and not necessarily going to change that balance between left and right may not change very much what we could see is of changes between one party and another on the left or one party or another on the right where mention votes of would see for elections in 4 years. This is rated to be. A medium turn of the storm or well I think many people are expecting a low turnouts because as you say they've been so many elections recently and particularly the fact we've just had elections 6 months ago back in April and that election was inconclusive and so the feeling is that the politicians have had failed the country in the wake of that last election so there's a lot of anger a lot of exhaustion with elections and traditionally when there's low turnout in Spain it's the left that tends to do poorly so the Socialist Party also the poll the most party on the left I think are all going to be watching that turnout very closely because they know that if there's a low turnout it's them that could suffer I think the parties on the right a slightly more relaxed about that. We spoke to revoke. When I had results by around 10 o'clock local time we should have a clear idea 10 o'clock local time so 9 o'clock u.k. Time we should have 99 pm u.k. Time we should have a clear idea of what has happened in election guy had to go there in Madrid and of course it's election season over here is well them politics continues to dominate the front pages of his we could see David Wooding political editor of The Sun on Sunday about this post this morning we've got a front page story and a big detail story inside spread across 2 pages on the revelation of how much Labour's election promises will cost taxpayers now your listeners will remember earlier in the week perhaps that some Mark Sedwill a cabinet secretary blocked publication of Treasury costings of Labor's flagship policies after an official and given a courtesy call to John McDonnell the shadow chancellor to tell him that they were about to publish these and they allegedly hit the roof and said it was an abuse of power to release these politically sensitive documents head of the general election and so so they were stopped but we've got hold of some of those costings and it reveals up if Labor 2 were to win power they would spend an extra $1.00 trillion pounds that's trillion $1.00 trillion pounds over the next Parliament over 5 years now to give you some idea of how big a figure that is that money incidentally is coming on top of what the current government is spending so it works out as an extra an extra not just the headline takeable on top of what's already been spent an extra 650000000 pounds every day for the next 5 years now this details are all revealed in 35 page documents of the costings have been done by. This. Since servants have than the treasury officials and subject Jabot has overseen it's the chancellor and he says it shows that Labor's spending will drive Britain to the brink of bankruptcy he's criticizing of course to give you some idea he would say very good well of course he would say that now if you look a lot you can look at that about you know politically some people will think it's great the government will most to come in and spend some money on public services other will others will say this will be you know putting the economy at risk because they'd have to go into debt and have to borrow a lot of pay those sort of figures and also they might have to put up taxes and you know depending on where you are politically you take a view on that but the conservatives are using this is a hammer with which to bash the. Labor party and I suspect that's what will happen over the next few days Delia no idea what that figure is. $1.00 trillion pans it's it's 12 times more than such a Jabot this promise to spend if the Conservatives win a 5 year term at the extra amount he's promised to spend that's $100000000000.00 pounds on public services it's 3 times more than Gordon Brown spends former Labor prime minister after the financial crash it's equivalent to enough money. On its own to fund the entire budget of the n.h.s. For 9 years and one of the way this is made shit in my schoolboy math another one I worked out is that if you work it out per household is 19100000 households in the u.k. It works out it just over 60 so well nearly 63000 pounds for every household in the u.k. So if all that money was paid directly to it all these house sells it will be enough to clear all of the town felt in pounds over yet of turnover over the 5 years or 5 years yeah over the 5 years you know it would be it would be enough to clear out all our credit card debts and pile for mortgages Yeah 412000 Yes well the average household has something like. $50050.00 something 1000 pounds figures in front of 850000 pounds that it's less than the 60 so so that's includes mortgage debts and credit card debts and on the House and that's close to cost so you know if it was used in that way that's so you know I did what the fees like they give you a straight is. So big you know but again you know I got here is well about just how bad public services are that they would need to spend that amount of money because even even the conservatives as you said they're spending their spendthrift conservative budget this time around was suggesting that it's the end of austerity but if they're only spending 500000000000 to end a decade of austerity if you work out the sums the other way round how much that is for every household in Britain over the last 10 years will probably come out in something like tuppence ha'penny perhaps also over over to endorse Sterritt see you know you wonder whether the austerity that we've had in the health service to stare at you that we've had in education on the streets in the police services to really over a 10. New periods in that can be done by just 500000000000 quid so arguably arguably . The trillion 1.2 trillion that neighborhood spending is what needs to be spent well yes you could argue that and of course John McDonnell will no doubt be arguing that. What the economists have been saying is when you compare these with which he told the figures as well as Muslims is the answer for Fiscal Studies and on people in the. The the the I.F.'s as I just said in this lead shackles in the research fellow fellow at the Institute of Economic Affairs says it's it's an ambitious Christmas wish list but is the taxpayer willing to play Santa. I mean yes there's 2 things there's lots of things in there I mean I suppose. Joe McDonald will be arguing no doubt that yes we are going to make Britain a better place in which to live and the is going to be lots of things in a free bus travel for under 20 five's that would set the Treasury back 7000000000 pounds and there's this plan that we talked about last week about the for energy saving insulation and refurbishment in every home that will be a 3rd 30000000000 pounds and then you have the will the big controversial ones is the 196000000000 to renationalise the railways the energy networks the water and postal services so the they do tell they do sort of stack up quite a bit and I suppose if you were trying to be frugal and fiscally careful and prudent about things you might sort of say well actually do we need to do that in the 1st 5 year terms or whatever and I think that's why why Tony Blair at the time proved himself a little a little bit more trustworthy with what he was putting out at the time I mean one little thing he's evil he looks into war Well exactly. Well yes that's what he did people criticize him for that I mean I always like to say you have to weigh up the spending plans in the way you way up the way they the policies for the health service the education system. All these things have to wait and see how it's always seen that the that it's always there is always you know I mentioned the war was apparently was an illegal war and in terms of being fiscal influence in terms of being prudent we've the budget of the country the last thing you want to do is go and spend it on an illegal war Yeah absolutely and I mean that wasn't part of his manifesto for power of course that that happened after he'd been in power for some time and it's usually one of the 2 big problems that the 2 main parties have. Are One labor generally has trouble proving to the electorate that it is to be trusted with the economy with the purse strings of this nation as anyone Tony Blair was able to convince people of that he won power in the same way the conservatives have an issue with the n.h.s. People just don't trust the conservatives or the n.h.s. And these are issues that the 2 leaders have to deal with if you look at any polls it always shows who do you trust most with the economy Jeremy called in and John McDonnell or Sajid Javid and Boris Johnson and the conservatives are streets ahead when you talk about the n.h.s. And it's the other way round sure it's and I suppose the way it is done it in a very busy time around. Many of the papers are saying you know we trust Boris with the n.h.s. More than a lot of us were Johnson and that that is true that Boris Johnson has made some inroads in that area and I think this is where they're going services will go up here one day Weston's the media when you run in votes he's made promises just like everybody else and even the promises about 500 extra doctor. P. Yeah there's already been a warning about that from. The medical community and I just wonder whether it's the media or elements of the media the say No no you can't translate vis you can't trust them with that or you can't trust the Tories of this you can trust them with that I wonder if it's we who are put in the cross whether it's we were telling the ledger or whether the electorate telling us well I'm only the messenger is really I mean it p people people are not daft and you know there's not only Radio 5 Live all the sort on Sunday there's a whole host of the ways people get their media now lots of far less trustworthy sources of information such as the Internet for example or social media which is full of them vanish means which are completely unreliable and this is what this is what's so difficult to make these easy and this is a vote of years he says as well he's got his own opinion. On the n.h.s. They go back there they they the n.h.s. Is he keeps in the stories about that conserves is planning to privatise the n.h.s. Now those stories were going on years ago when when David Cameron was trying to get into power and they were going on during the Thatcher years and you know you can either dismiss them as scare stories and and in the same way the conservatives will be using these these economic plans to to to to strike fear into the electorate that if the Labor Party get in in power I mean one of the things that they're pointing out is that the amounts in this the costings of this election pledges the spending is almost double what they promised in the 2017 manifesto commitments it was $611000000000.00 then $6.00 to $590000000000.00 so maybe they're promising more but certainly it will cost more but of course the people will weigh it all up for themselves and decide a specific election with news of the weekend is the floods in dogs and. In terms of you know what the nation needs to get to grips with a note of the prime minister went down today. And you know to lead the troops as it were but he's been all the juries are being criticized by labor you say in your paper Yes So the Labor Party are saying that the flood response services of faced crippling cuts under the Tory government's train line in agency staff members have been splashed slashed by more than a 5th and I wanted 6 properties in the u.k. Occur a little risk of flooding you know in this they point to these various studies which suggest that this figure could double in the coming decades as a result of the climate crisis again Labor has been on the front foot on the climate change crisis which which will include in involved rainfall increasing that's given some credence I have to say because we have had some cases of flooding before a member flooding in David Cameron's reign I actually when I mean divided government well Yami well that they're saying that the Tories haven't enough to protect them now they can serve as a pointed out that the Environment Agency recently exceeded its targets I have 6 Now 1000 people trained and ready to respond to these incidents which is things like hundreds of flights a poor offices and they also say that they have ensured more homes are protected from flooding are on track to deliver one of the last election I think is the 25th in an election manifesto pledge to protect some like 3 or 400000 homes from flooding by 2021 and they say they're well on course that they wouldn't give the sun and sun in this country of a headline stateside now with linseed of the Chicago Sun Times the 3rd largest city in the us Chicago has not yet said It is yes it is what do you call it a city in a garden. Herbs in hartis is. Armado. And it's because it is a want I don't know Darya get me again I know I grew up that is a model but there is there is a reason and partly because I would like to think because of the beauty within the city and I know we are by the wonderful Lake Michigan which I talk to you many times about so darn I don't want to be wrong not just say and I'm sure I do love the way Americans say. We confront of it this was this this was our Midland ERPs. So this is my plan with a Chicago accent. Don't worry and when we say generally we know generally you are b.s. Not not a.g.r. B.s. Serves like a city urban. Growth and this is where our darn accent gets in the way of our and communication I know I was doing you are b.s. . And heart isn't hard to culture the growth of Fortis is hurt your culture and that is our motto and land so that I do know when you mean city and a car was found there Google this quick. To get this straightened out here also which is the more popular nicknames is it the Windy City was a city of Big Shoulders City of Big Shoulders States Carl Sandburg a great poet who named us that. Which is why most Chicagoans go for as it says he never probably would be windy city even though it is really not because it's a windy city but because the politicians were and are long winded. Oh I make you laugh it makes me so happy but you've only had one present of you know come from Chicago yes I knew why I didn't even your politicians are so long winded Yes but we've had other presidents from Illinois night Ronald Reagan was born in Dixon Illinois Abraham Lincoln was born in Kentucky but grew up in Illinois so we know we have our we have ours. Ok and on almost president Hillary Clinton grew up in Chicago so wait we have our claims here forgive me one moment because we've had problems with floods here in the k. Let me just read this notices just dropped for our listeners 7 severe flood warnings are in place meaning a threat to life on the river Don in South Yorkshire there are 60 other flood warnings in place not in the picture is changing all the time and the latest development is that the Environment Agency say water levels are still rising on the river Trent and that some riverside communities are at risk of flooding to property high water levels are expected. Around 8 am this morning and this particular warning relates to the Newark area around Riverside marinas where flooding is expected and immediate action is required the Environment Agency are asking people to avoid contact with flood water move possessions of valuables off the ground or to safety that's the river Trent at Newark in the Tolly lane and Riverside marinas area this is the Environment Agency flood alerts website saying this and it's being updated constantly as the picture changes and if you want to get into that you believe to see more information I suppose being the city of the Great Lakes as it were you do do you suffer any floods and things like that and she. Actually we have floods because the sewers backed up and that's been a problem for many years in the event of heavy rains but again I don't know if this is why you brought this up in or one of the engineering feats of the world is that many years ago engineers reverse the flow of the Chicago River which was flowing end to that lake to have it flow the opposite way into the Mississippi River Can you imagine that like you're just talking about the river Trent if somebody said it like you. Better if it just float the other way and so that was one of the all time in its day engineering feat so we don't have floods which we have built into serious no Lake Michigan is said its all time high or one of its all time highs this summer and that has washed away the beaches around the shores of Chicago and that other parts because of the unusually high water. Good to know if you're a plain language chicken trivia sometimes dislike night the warning of warning cold when coming off the. Mon 60 flood warnings are still in place across parts of the Midlands in the north of England 7 of them a severe on the river Don in South Yorkshire which means a risk to life some people who've been forced to leave their homes have criticised the local authorities for their response to the flooding to me now and is the chief executive of Doncaster Council where there is a severe flood alert then what we are doing is encouraging evacuation those individuals shouldn't be in there and what we can't do is dictate that we tell them that there is a threat to life there are a number of residents I believe in the church at the moment which is on high ground it is not universally flooded there are areas of dry areas in the church hall is one of those man and a woman have been found dead at a house in Birmingham Police say the couple were known to each other and they're not looking for anyone else and these 3 people have died and 4 others are missing in bushfires in eastern Australia Fishel So the number of people killed is likely to rise thousands of people have been forced to leave their homes and shepherds from the New South Wales Fire Service we have some 75 that up I think more than are those yet to be brought under control but we are talking about a massive area you know we are dealing with some 6 or 700000 hectare is literally got up out of that they're protecting probably at the moment they support about water only helicopters that are real concern is actually moving into Tuesday but 'd we are expecting temperatures in the early forties Prince Harry Meghan have joined Prince William and Catherine the Royal British Legion Samuel festival of remembrance the queen was also at the event at London's Royal Albert Hall last night our reporter Simon Jones this is the 1st time that the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and the duke and duchess of Sussex or been together ever since Harry and Megan did that documentary on television where they spoke about the pressures they were under in the public eye and Perry talking about his relationship with Prince William saying they're on different paths and some days they had.
