a. Very good morning to you and now our top story this morning Jeremy Cobain has apologized to Labor supporters as a with a heavy defeat in the general election writing in today's newspapers taken knowledge the party's failings in the poll and said he accepts his responsibility for it but he insists he has successfully race in the times of political debate and that his manifesto will be seen as historically important attention in the policy will now focus on who will replace Mr Coleman as leader of the political strategist John McTiernan who was Tony Blair's political secretary said the party needed to put ideals the sights and. The membership have to ask themselves do they see the world in left right and therefore we've got to choose a left leader even though we've gone to the left the last 3 elections and we've lost over time or dubious of the world in which we need a Labor government and therefore the test is not only to. Or you left or your right to a like you the test is could you win a general election yesterday the prime minister visited the northeast of England to thank voters in traditional Labor heartlands for backing the conservatives their support held Boris Johnson to secure his party's biggest general election win 80 is speaking in Tony Blair's old constituency of such failed in County Durham Mr Johnson acknowledged the breaking the voting habits of generations would not have been easy I understand how big a step that is for some people for some families and we are going to repay that trust we are going to deliver on the things that matter to them and yes of course it's about getting resident but it's also about the n.h.s. It's about public services it's about a basic view the country that is going to be better off if you have one nation conservatism So what must keep the trust of people like these voters in such shelter which is a good job is going to get breakfast done and it will be get the n.h.s. Story the education. Everything else is promised much hassle. That's what we. Bought who knows you might sort it out Boris Johnson is turning shine in law a commitment to raise spending on the n.h.s. In England clued in the 1st Queen's speech of a new parliament g to be unveiled on Thursday now train services it will be busy as $650.00 M.P.'s returned to London to start their work at the Palace of Westminster tomorrow heading down for the 1st time as the new Dales and pay Ceradyne see was elected with a majority of just over 17000 Good morning Sarah. I'm very well thank you congratulations to you how are you feeling right now this is obviously your 1st time as an empath. The Probably one of the most pivotal points of our history how how do you feel heading down to London tomorrow. Sarah we're going to come back she We've got a really really bad line so we'll come back to Sarah and just a few moments time difference the text lines are always always open on the show so if you ever want to get in touch 813 double 3 is the tax number start your message with the word Darby and I will get a full weather update for you on the way with Alex Hamilton very very soon she's going to tell us just so you know just to say you know in advance she's going to tell us that it is pretty windy out there today and if like me you had broken sleep last night with quite a lot of wind and rain heading around is not going to stop right not going to stop at school so hopefully we're going to go back to Sara very very shortly Ok Sarah Sarah there we are we can hey you now there we go all that weather all the wind and rain we've had over the last couple of days or so but congratulations on your win Sara how do you feel before heading down to London's rose your 1st time obviously as an m.p. . I feel tremendously excited and I feel a lot of effort has been put into my campaign by mighty not so very excited that this parliament is going to hit the ground running and to deliver what we promised on bricks it on the doorstep of the will of the British people really can't be ignored we had time and time again people not only in the constituency but people travelling to Christmas markets here people coming from places like Sheffield and don't trust an IP I was saying time time again I want to live a full life they want to correct it and that was a national issue that I question the about and they didn't want to leave it to chance the only people that were going to deliberate were the Conservative party so I feel very excited to be such a part of such a historic movement now obviously Sarah and taking over from Sir Patrick McLaughlin previous time for me so I mean obviously How old was held in great esteem how does it feel to know that the people put their trust in you as they did with him well it makes me feel very humble and very excited and I must pay tribute to supply he has had worked hard and tirelessly for the constituency for the 30 years but on a personal level he was so helpful to me he was kind supportive he took me around everywhere and helped me campus and he was part of a very big team of volunteers that work not only in the Dob she dealt but we helped out in neighboring constituencies to give support to constituencies where we felt there was a very good chance of returning a conservative member of parliament and we went big team of county councils went so I went to Dublin. Campaign nationally not just in the job issue down now Sarah there's a record number of female M.P.'s and now a lot more M.P.'s from an ethnic background as well this is obviously very telling of the move forward how do you feel to be part of this new group overpays oversea like you said with a sort of a record number of women in that. Well I think it's fantastic because we are about half of the population and we're part of it must reflect. Ethnically and sex wise off the population and I'm very excited I've had several very good friends of all sorts of the sexes and reflections in color and to conservatives that doesn't matter what matters is if you are a good conservative and you want to deliver on the promises made by Boris So really those days are very perishing but the main message is to get on with policies. Members of Parliament such as pretty to tell who I've met and discussed with make very fine and pays so we need to stop talking about religion and time and talk about conservative politics and how we're going to get this country going and how we're going to deliver on it we are in the most we have the most I thirst cabinet in history and the party have delivered that country to the promises of the Labor Party we have lifted that and we have truly representative of the whole country sometimes take. Thera Dines thank you very much indeed would have had but I don't see but that's the new dollars today. He was elected on Thursday with a majority of just over 300000. seems podcast on b.b.c. Well people say God helps those who help themselves but does he show any favor to those in politics who fought this election with the election result now decided what has been the fallout for the even individuals who fought and won or lost their beds to become and pays for those with that faith how did it a particularly f.x. Them are unsure how is this a coup state as a candidate for the Lib Dems in slouch Good morning t.j. Good morning thanks for having me on well thanks for chatting about this how was the whole experience for you from putting yourself forwards to the canvassing and to election night. So it's the 1st time I've done anything like this some 20 Boyer just just has a big interest in politics and. I could just basically see why can you really say in flower the Lib Dems then we have much of a presence I got people send in 22017. But then I managed to triple of it and get 6 percent which is a massive achievement really my local party. That's what I was doing it basically canvassing in the cold freezing even a. Little bit to go by parents and family involved in leaking a number of houses and I'm going to vote in hospitals in the bay even these things such as like calling you up on the radio. New to me Well you know what it's really refreshing to hear I mean obviously it's a quite young age to get into politics I think if you see the sort of average age of M.P.'s 24 to be putting yourself in that position because it it must be quite tough trying to canvas and get votes but what effect does campaigning have on your face what do you push to learn about your faith when you are doing this. I met some from a Sikh family. Generation immigrants my grandparents came all the way from India. I am myself I kind of go to the good my God you are probably for at any festival or centrally whatever the wedding. The real reason is because I don't really speak and be which the main language of Sikhism. But because Klaus has a huge community that's 3 God worker so I went and visited all 3. And I got like 6 of the is a bit weird had to be I'd see a tour of because our way to explain the religious leader would explain that the symbolism the meanings behind things which is something that obviously has never happened to be before and so I learned a lot about my own faith and I think there's one brother in particular where they bake as well their sermons are conducted entirely English so I think I probably will become more spiritual going forwards and probably more more committed to my religion actually acts as a course of standing for election which is not what I was expecting now is that I see it Flower has a large number of c. Calmly What do you what you did you hear from the Sikh communities that you were campaigning did you learn anything from them. Why did I mean 1st of all I'd say like with any religion or with any person the national issues are less questions are usually the 1st and foremost thing that they care about but there are other like specific Sikh related matters so there's one that will pick the Monday and probably make the list but means a lot to them in this thing called you know the national census there is the ship box seat people actually take their own religion on that which for that means a lot because obviously there's a way of recording the actual number of people identified Sikh. Which you know means a lot to them but then there's also a more serious matter where. I think what is the thing called the I'm or some massacre which happened a century ago probably remember from the film Gandhi. And essentially still means a lot to the people from the Sikh community really because they were mainly the victims of it and they kind of want the British government to apologize for it but I haven't happened yet so I think that's just a few of the issues that really matter to them but then of about kind of typical you know practice n.h.s. Or food banks you know the typical things that a lot of people in this country do care about particularly well aren't Thank you so much for chatting to us this morning aren't so how is a Sikh he said as a candidate for the Lib Dems in slouch as reconstruction 24 years old really really interested in politics is always good to say. Oh. It's Chris Rush's. Wow So they get the competence and Merry Christmas dawning on it. Itself because that trial is going to Christmas Day will be like well. According to an Ignite weatherwise that Alex Hamill said how they're looking for the next few days. It looks reasonably bright this morning plenty of sunshine around it will be windy in blustery throughout the day with just the chance of a shower and a fresh south westerly wind through our highs of around 6 degrees Celsius always some clear spells tonight but also a few showers spreading in from the southwest Most places will stay dry there and it will remain breezy with lows of one degree Celsius then tomorrow will be a generally fine day with some brightness or sunshine However as the day goes on cloud it will start to develop you can expect highs of around 7 degrees Celsius Tuesday will see early morning cloud and patchy rain Gretsch Lake hit east leave it largely fine and dry in the afternoon and Wednesday looks set to be largely bright and drawing with plenty of sunshine before it turns more unsettled again on Thursday Alex thank you very much indeed I am exhausted yes apprehensive of what is happening after the show today heading over to the brain hall because I'm taking part in my drama queen performance with the lost boys of the house trap now I am no actually I have been called a drama queen in the past by various people who work here so I don't know that's a compliment or not but I've got my script here in front of me it was only sent to me by the way on Thursday so the chances of me remembering much of this pretty slim so if you are coming on today any d.c. With my scripts just you know it happens to the best of fest b M's my 1st line I'm not going to give anything away as to what's going to happen but my 1st line is good I called Liz I am playing Misty creek I have a steak catch if you're coming to Sabrina or later it's going to be fun. In sport Dobby counties 9 game unbeaten home record is over after they lost one nil against Millwall upright Park stadium Garrett side took the lead in the 25th minute but although the Rams were better in the 2nd half they couldn't grab an equaliser manager Philip Kaku says Dobbie need to find a way of hitting the ground running that's a concern at the moment it why we don't do it over 90 minutes I think we show the 2nd how we can play this away we have to play and then we're finding that eventually because you know if football is a strike it's all winners they find the net once or twice in your game or things go your way and then in a month we're talking as always you anymore because for scoring Captain Curtis Davis was more philosophical saying the recent performances just haven't been good enough when they were lucky enough to to get the point based on the fact that we gave a good go to 2nd half and say we didn't so 1st off performances last 2 games of import against teams that are quite direct we're going to fight for every $5050.00 every 2nd ball we have to go nuts and in the 2nd off we turn off but at home we shouldn't be having to send myself on the set offs and the keeper up to try and rescue a point I just know it's not good enough Darby and I was 16th in the championship it was also defeat for Burton Albion who lost to know what come a goal in each half was enough to seal victory for the homesite a manager Nigel cough was once again left frustrated by refereeing decisions as one of the most bizarre bookings think I've ever seen for a player just pick the ball up and stand there and to be given the card referee refused to Steve McQueen and explain why give them yellow cards 4th official something said something about adopting an aggressive attitude Well that's what we can for to be aggressive and here and then I saw a player get kicked in the had lights on but I say Ok you know adopt an aggressive attitude which he didn't anyway Liverpool. The lights are on the rest of Burton moving on some freely check it was the north of average it spotted some delay years ago jitters of roadworks in a slight sense on Dobby road to Millfield road just through Duffield that's an alter far away from ave road the m one is moving fine if you motorway driving and no early issues on public transport either but if you can update our information 101456161 London at which b.b.c. Radio dhaba travel. Well it's 21 minutes to 9 and chimed in the state I have a very special more than a 2nd the police have got a special visitor over the next couple of weeks Justice dog all over is originally from Missouri in the USA and he's the 1st dog in Europe to help vulnerable people who are victims or witnesses of crime to give evidence now as part of a trial to support and make the justice process easier for people joining me in the studio with. An adult code that I detect of constables Riza based and Doxil is growing from Canterbury Christ Church University Good morning to you all morning a lot so all of his very excited is that he's very right we're excited about having him in here just tell me a little bit about the history about Olivia so all of her is just a stark as he said he's originally from America so he's been purposely bred and trained to provide quiet non-judgmental companionship to normal victims and witnesses people who came over from the us but 2 years ago he confession he trains since then I've been working with him down complete about 300 Oliver's working across North America and have been for the past 20 years supporting one of our people but as you said he's a very 1st one of his kind Europe so we're hoping to sort of bring him over here and sort of start getting these dogs over in the u.k. In the rest of Europe and how he found it works over in America Oh it's been very successful I mean the past 20 years they've been going into court sitting on its police interviews medical examinations the whole criminal justice process just trying to. Make it less intimidating you know more comfortable for young victims a very serious crime so it's been very successful Ok three's that I mean obviously being a victim of crime or being a witness to a crime can be a very very traumatic experience do you find sometimes that it is difficult to help people in that situation yes absolutely it is sometimes we have honorable victims and they have to suffer they suffer traumatic events and as part of that police investigation in essence we are asking them to relive that traumatic event to the point that some feel as if they can't even go through with given their evidence or even those that do really struggle so haven't a justice facility talk such as all of it will really help to calm our victims was given their evidence Ok now I know that I mean dogs are being brought into schools my son's school they take a dog in once a week to help children how how do they do it how do you how do you train a dog to be able to give that companionship that that warmth that people need sometimes you know dogs are you know amazing they have an amazing bond with humans a lot of people don't realize that we've evolved with dogs for thousands and thousands of years and because of that they naturally provide us with comfort and you see it all the times of therapy and benefits and schools and prisons and we're just sort of taking that therapeutic benefit and we're putting it into the criminal justice system it takes a lot to. Be trained the way years he can sense when people are stressed and when he does he sort of inches closer and closer to someone and that does take a lot of training and he continually trains every day every year he has to recertify So a lot goes into sort of what you see here and even though it looks like nothing there is a lot to it having a 3 year old lab sitting there just doing nothing is a lot yes yes now I can certainly appreciate that. Series of this is a trial and how vital is it for you to try new things to help victims of crime absolutely I think is so important to try. And think of creative ways to try and help our fictitious because they do struggle whilst throughout the years we have improved the way that we took off traffic jams we do need to support the victims well be and when they are going through a mission experience do you ever see hoping that all of us a great success here it dogshit is something that we will see more of yes absolutely Oliver it's only been with us since Monday and the artistry I can't even tell you he has been incredible really already supported and several fundable victims I helped them to open up and the results has been really really positives not only from the offices that I've done the interviews but from the vulnerable victims themselves they have been very encouraging results Well it sounds like all of his being a great success so far and just to go back to the USA Just because sometimes we can learn a lot from things that have been going on well alsa dogs like all of a used for I mean you said that you know sometimes schools and prisons well anything else yes so they are used for every aspect of the criminal justice process so you know even just going to court pre-court visits they go to social workers social worker visits any sort of dramatic incidences all of his brothers work as facility dogs in America one of them is deployed during the Orlando shootings one of them works for the f.b.i. One of them works in the front line for the immigration for the next and border you name it any sort of dramatic event these dogs are trained to sense that provide companionship I think so important is sometimes during those instances that's all you need is just someone there to show you that you know someone is there for you and it's amazing what they can do as she said you know you really have to see it to believe it that the impact he's had on the one of the victims in Kent has been you know unbelievable and that's why we're trying to take this national Well thank you all so much for coming in Detective Constable to reason based and Doxil is brewing and of course just to stalk all of you who is being so well is probably one of our most well behaved guess that we've had in here I'm so thank you all so much for coming and thank you. All. I'm going to stay in it forever it will. Be long gone and still be there in the cement they might be able to get rid of me but my spirit will still be here well. Every weekday morning from 9. a.
