And as of some of the issues around homelessness Did you see Doc Martin by the way when was it on for Wednesday night I think it was I laughed at Martin and this time there was a very sensitive story line around homelessness and one of the central characters was played by a Hollywood actor so we'll be hearing more about that with Lois in around about 20 minutes time this morning thank you by the way for all the calls and guesses coming in for today's celebrity him most of you guessing correctly but not all Sal go through some of those in a few moments time but if you'd like to get in touch it's a way to wait 101039 or on e-mail Donna dot barrel at b.b.c. Dot co dot u.k. Now 140 painted pebbles representing men who've lost their lives during the 1st world war will be unveiled today in Saltash at the World War One Peace Garden the pebble memorial wants to recognize fallen soldiers who didn't make it home after heading off to battle between 19141918 Well b.b.c. Radio Comal stache a Smith has been over to the Peace Garden in Saltash to find out what the new memorial means for the town super is on the Great War commemorative events committee we were just preparing for the unveiling of the pebble Memorial which is in honor of the 144 than from Saltash and associated We sold trash during the Great War. We felt that it is a community project and we felt that this is something that will take us into the 21st century of Earth recognizing those that were casualties during the Great War Well each peple. Represents a soldier that died and these pebbles they are very colorful can just explain to me about on this and how they are being painted Yes they're a community project so they've been painted by old members of the community and you will see each pebble signifies an event during the Great War. It will be a soldier. A cross a poppy a flag by playing and they were painted by children and the art club down it rock people from the residential homes those 140 pebbles were soon completed if I just come in it's but closer to some of these pebbles I can see the dates written on them what do these represent the dates represent the great war from 914 to 1918 that's why you will see each pebble signifies that period and looking out of these pebbles they represent 140 lives that we have lost what does this mean to you I think is an everlasting memorial I think it's very often soon forgotten but these pebbles represent that the vision that we had initially and it will be an everlasting reminder for those that lost their lives you know particularly from the soul Tash and associated result for evermore because it can also be an educational project for young people from the schools to come down and hopefully they will do a study based on the Pebble memorial and I think it's fascinating the fact that you keep saying that it was made. By those youngsters so it's almost like linking today's generation and history isn't it what do you think this means for our future I think for the future when the soldiers went to war. They thought they were going it was going to be over by Christmas and of course the war went on for 4 years and I think if they can remember that these soldiers all of them that went to poor thinking they would be home quite soon they gave everything for us so that we can know live in relative peace. We are here at the memorial Peace Garden let's just have a look around what's been done. The sound of gravel been shuffled and ground being placed down for the Morial what's happening on Sunday at 2 30 pm we have the unveiling of the memorial are going to have a civic press presence and the unveiling will take part by Crystal whose pebble started the whole idea of a memorial made of pebbles and the unveiling will be of Lynn Marsh and Crystal and Lynn's followed through that fission where she wanted to see the old the 140 pebbles together and you sound very passionate about this project and far as I understand it has been going on for quite some time what does this unveiling mean to you personally I think it is something that we always wish to do we wanted to pay our respects being the 100th anniversary of the Great War we had an ideal opportunity to pay our respects and it would be here forever for all ages whether they're living today or yesterday or tomorrow it is something that they can acknowledge the all those that fought for peace and in the end re conciliation in today's world. Absolutely peaceful wonderful and as dash and super were saying there hundreds of pebbles painted that as part of the armistice memorials last year 140 used to represent men from Soul Tash who died in the fast World War And if you'd like to attend the unveiling of that memorial it's later today at the Peace Garden in Seoul Tash and the events start at 2 o'clock great stuff it's now 14 minutes past 7 and I've got company in the studio Hello Paul I How you doing this morning good to me she knows but yeah he looks likely better today which is really good to remember to put your old clock back and it is all good nice to have an extra hour or it's lovely Yes Yes particularly when we get up so early I know it's just it yeah if luxury had actually taken I think myself to bed and I already have left as well so there really are 2 extra hours yet Crazy be full of beans while magical and full of Mrs cheesecake somehow straight into having to want peace I was trying to resist. It's right up to me where this gigantic Victoria spawns which looks absolutely peaceful so I thank you very much Mrs g. Looking forward to having a piece of that I think we are very much now have you Rianne who you are you know me out and wherever you are this morning there I hope you're enjoying your Sunday with us Have you heard celebrity him no I haven't seen or hear it. Really. You. Always. Have fun isn't it I can't quite believe this. You guessed correctly straight out any visiting at the screen out there you so on I don't even know where to find it so well from I know I don't know your tricks. But yeah Paul has gas correctly so well dump all the good stuff as have Margaret instant column Catherine Embry Good morning everybody Janet incent Austral We've also got Louise Veronica Richard and Freddy in Mt altogether there in Mount lovely stuff I love everyone you've guessed correctly however Doreen in 3 borrows Lucy 11 Hazel impending are in Heaven Hell and also Joyce in new key it isn't Russell Watson It also isn't Alan Jones or Michael Crawford or Hugh Jackman a great guesses but but No unfortunately not it isn't Alfie by either and that's coming in from Margaret instant Austral also good morning to Kevin in fox hole and jail in Campbell on Again it's not Russell Watson chilling camp and says she's as a confused this morning about the time but we have helped her out it is definitely 16 minutes past 7 it is Ok unless your pattern Melbourne or unless you are power and Barry and chilly walk in which case it's a different time yes we will not even go into that now we. Really were. Very cold. It is yes temperatures got there probably as low as 2 Celsius in some places in the east of the county so it's getting very close to having some frost. And it is going to remain relatively cool today compared certainly to yesterday but 1st things 1st there are still a lumber of flood warnings and alerts out for Cornwall this morning expecting the waters to start subsiding before longer but the flood warnings of the river Ottery at your bridge and her milk. Also the river Taymor from tame Austin to drugs and bridge so way out there towards the east of the county also flood alerts for many areas of the north called more rivers the edge and also west Cornwall rivers as well but there isn't any rainfall forecast for today so expect in those river levels to start dropping away quite quickly a chilly start to the day then today a risk of a few isolated mist or fog pressure's just shallow ones in and some river valleys but these will quickly clear and we are going to see a dry and bright day today plenty of sunshine around the county as well and the winds are going to be light to moderate north or north easterly it is going to feel safe chillier than we have seen of late $9.00 to $12.00 as the maximums that's $48.00 to $54.00 Fahrenheit so tonight is going to be a drawing night clear spells though a little practical out will tend to increase towards dawn and there is just a risk of a few isolated mist and for patches in the east of the county winds are going to increase moderate or fresh easterly particularly in the west of the canting and temperatures again dropping quite low between 3 and 6 Celsius as the minimums tonight 37 to 43 Fahrenheit so a dry start to the day tomorrow a few spells of hazy sunshine though cloud is going to build from the West during the day which will likely give just a little bit of pressure rain and drizzle there in the very far southwest of the county as we go through into the afternoon most places though staying dry winds are going to be moderate or fresh easterly increasing strong at times in the West and with the wind chill that is going to make it feel again quite chilly the maximum term is 9 to 12 Celsius 48 to 54 Fahrenheit but feeling more like 4 to 5 Celsius in those winds Tuesday a cloudy day a chance of some patchy light rain again in the far south west of there though most places across the county staying dry winds are going to be fresh occasionally strong from the east again potentially some gusts over 40 miles an hour in some exposed areas again making it feel quite cold temperatures. Between 8 and 12 Celsius 48 to 54 Fahrenheit which again a good few degrees cooler than that in the wind chill minimum temperatures overnight marginally warmer though between 8 and 11 Celsius 48 to 52 Fahrenheit slightly lower confidence for Wednesday there is high pressure out to the east booked from France are trying to move in to the county it is likely then to be a crowded day and there is a risk of some rain spreading in from the west to join the afternoon and into the evening when it's going to be fresher crazily strong from the southeast again quite cool annoying to 13 Celsius 48 to 55 Fahrenheit overnight minimum strain 8 and 12 Celsius 48 to 54 Fahrenheit and an unsettled day on Thursday some pretty rain 1st with heavier rain possible during the afternoon and the wind staying fresh easterly marginally warmer though 11 to 14 Celsius 52 to 57 Fahrenheit as the minimum a maximum So in short is forecast no vote until 6 o'clock tomorrow morning the wind northerly 3 or 4 fearing easterly or northeasterly 4 or 5 occasionally 6 later in the West the weather fair the visibility good as lovely staff will thank you very much indeed Good morning It's 20 past 7 bit of travel news because on the a 30 eastbound between Mary's and bows and Col and cross there's very slow traffic on the usual for this time of the morning sun there's one of us you know it's crowded Yeah but slow traffic apparently I wonder if people are making their way back after half time possibly support Yeah cave you can let us know thank you also ensure a lemon Street is closed between boss Collins Street and fair mantle Street full on the cobbles today but our devotion is in place. By Katherine Jenkins here this week I'm in the picturesque county of Pembrokeshire in a whale where I'll be visiting one of the smallest chapels in Britain built in memory of the helmet monks seem to govern a new step she offered Wales is patron saint same David. It was unveiled this summer and I'll be following its journey to the Valley of the saints in France I felt that he was burdened by his great office and his task in life and that's why I want him represented rad teaching and Daniel visits a Christine retreat in the north of the can teach where the power of prayer is changing people's lives that sounds appraised at 115 on b.b.c. . One to fill 21 minutes past 7 hey at Sunday breakfast with me Donna barrel in a mental tea will be considering all reflecting upon the fact that Catholic bishops of fated to recommend allowing married men to become priests in remote areas I wonder will you think about that do you think that's right do you think that's one of the ways forward for the Catholic Church I love you he's all Nat'l anything else on this Sunday morning and he's who ate 101 and 3 knowing. We. Was no prove to. Him. We. Know. There's a. Little before we Know that song it's neon Jackson when you believe it says everything doesn't it 26 minutes now past 7 Good morning hope you're enjoying a Sunday safe Ah if he had celebrity him here it is. A tight 10139 minutes out of Ritchie in Liechtenstein hardly Richie says mittens out on a song I have no idea at all however all the best to one and or in a coma and to you and everyone at least in style Thank you very much oh say too early in chase water he says morning Donna great hymns to wake up to well if you like your hands after a very special one today of course it's harvest of the sea today saying Yeah I think you know which one I'll be playing between now and 9 and then says Allie the fast by Helen Steiner Rice was so good however the celebrity isn't Donny Osmond again not Donny Osmond this morning but you still got up doubts 25 minutes before I give you the answer this morning great stuff good morning now Catholic bishops have voted to recommend allowing married men to become priests in remote areas breaking with the centuries old tradition of celibacy within the church now the vote followed a 3 week Vatican Sinhalese on the Amazon region where there's a big shortage of priests for indigenous communities as John McMahon. Reports priestly celibacy has been the norm in the Catholic church for centuries though it's always been viewed as a tradition rather than a matter of doctrine like any major change the idea of married priests is a challenging one for many Catholics and there has been widespread opposition to the subject even being discussed at the synod but attendees have now voted that men who are already deacons in the church in the Amazon should be considered for the priesthood whether they're married or single it could solve the problem of many remote communities only being visited by a priest a few times a year as cardinal Michael Cherny explained we have to do better in bringing the good news of Jesus Christ to everyone so there's a whole series of in new efforts and new emphasis on how the church actually lives works exists in the Amazon and hopefully therefore with good results elsewhere but opponents of the idea fear it may spread throughout the global church and they see it as a further challenge to the Orthodox extolled by the previous Pope Benedict the 16th like other issues such as the treatment of divorces for example this debate has become a weapon for traditionalists the potence a Pope Francis the final decision on any change will be the pontiff so make though the rules have been bent before in local circumstances when I click in because I'm the ordination of women as bishops left the Church of England Pope Benedict ordained many of them as Catholic priests even though they were married there the odd thing I think that clarifies quite a lot doesn't it that was our reporter John McManus thank you very much indeed John for that one if you'd like to have your say on that or anything else I would love to hear from you Caroline gave us a call and here to say Yes Donna it's all about the ordinary at all of course and of course to member our wonderful father John great match from Charleston and he basically went to lead a group of Anglican clergy into the ordinary at into the Catholic Church. So if you would like to have your say on that or anything else I was saying earlier that I know a couple of Catholic priests who are married and of course they were part of the ordinary at who moved across into the Catholic Church do you think it's right that Catholic bishops have felt it now to recommend allowing married men to become priests in those remote areas or do you think they need to be a father and actually roll it out across the Catholic Church that have you all say with me till now on Sunday breakfast you can all say text me this morning at one travel 3 starting your text with the word Cornwall. With a fever but if you want some way to format maybe we'll keep moaning it is something you practiced with me tell me thanks for your company this morning. Radio call. Dean treat at the junction with Barry St There are 3 way Templi traffic lights and road works in found that on the 839 Melville waived Melville way. Terrorists their attempt to traffic lights and gas mains were at and got his lake on the a $39.00 a new bridge childer a temper traffic lights and right lax no major problems reported either of the airports this morning while on the trains and traffic is moving while on the bridge there's up to a 15 minute wait. To come when you talk to much this and yes I'm going to travel story we're not talking about b.b.c. Radio free on 101 I 39. Radio. Again sorry I think I had my fader up there tonight still isn't it that hour is throwing me off as an hour extra sleep but I don't know anyway I don't feel much like that but I hope wherever you are you're enjoying our Sunday morning safe on this weekend has seen some pretty awful weather it's been freezing cold where I am so what must it be like to sleep rough outside while as we head towards winter the Eden Project is urging people to bed down outside the biomes to raise lifesaving funds for homeless people all the money raised will go towards $2.00 Southwest charities Amber Foundation and also sympatric society and I'm really pleased to say that Lois Wilde from St Patrick's is with us now in the studio Good morning Lois Good morning Donna good morning thanks so much for coming in it's a bit chilly out there isn't that so yeah it's definitely dropped the temperatures gone down recently it really has I thank you so much for venturing out early on this morning it's been a really busy time for St Patrick's hasn't it not least because this week the issue of homelessness was featured in Doc Martin It absolutely was. Yeah it was amazing if anyone's not seen the episode you might want to close your ears for a minute but 2 years ago Mark Crowdy came along to our inspiring home conference which was at the Eden Project and he's the executive producer of Don't mock Absolutely yes and he just was so inspired by the words of Steve our chief exec and about all the people there on the day and hearing the stories and he decided to someone actually asked him there and then would you ever consider featuring homelessness in a Doc Martin story line and he says you know put on the spot Well maybe so 2 years later we received a phone call Jackie Davis my colleague she received a phone call to say you know watch out there has just been absolutely amazing one opportunity Well yes indeed because not only the issue of homelessness featured in the episode but also the man who played the homeless gentleman the chuckle Danny Houston very well known Hollywood actor Hoff brother of Angelica Houston son of the film director John Houston Hollywood royalty absolutely don't you know your Barry Empress I love that I'm very starstruck Yes But also I mean Sally was very much taken with the story line wasn't he and let's just hear a little bit from Johnny. Story we discovered. A hard time. Back. Completely what I did not expect which. To try to get. A person who could be any one of us when you walk by somebody on the road or. Somebody you. Want on. Somebody who could easily be you. And to me that says an awful lot Skinner he really got it didn't see yeah it's a powerful stuff isn't it he was amazing to speak to both he and Mark Crowdy felt very passionate about the topic and wanted to handle it really sense to flee and use the opportunity to create awareness of the issue which is why they then kindly offered to do some interviews with us and raise some extra awareness around the episode and it's really interesting Am I right in saying that something like 6 and a half 1000000 people watched the episode that's only on the night as well live so all the people who watch afterwards online and yet it's just a phenomenal amount people and that was the whole point they wanted to reach that many people with this message dealt with so sensitive Lee and I think it's screened in 200 countries around the world as well so I think they're just really passionate that this gets out there that people around the world sort of might might be challenged to think a little bit more differently about homelessness I think so because as Danny was saying and as you say and everybody at some pet drugs it could be each and every one of us just one step away from literally us being that person there on the street so it's so important to portray the issues of homelessness with sensitivity isn't it to break down a stigma which still exists in some areas yes absolutely and I think Mark was saying how much he felt it was so important to get the message just right in the episode and him in the producer and Martin Clunes as well all felt really strongly that was done in that way so it's just a fantastic opportunity for air for us to be getting a message out in a channel that we never thought we would be able to get out in that way you know this great stuff well done to you and everybody involved there and also let's move on now to the sleep out the annual sleep pattern and it's the 6th year you're doing it yeah I can't believe the time. I don't know if. It's such a great events and yes as I walked over this morning the chill hit my cheeks and I thought oh now temperatures really dropping and it's not going to be an easy night but it is definitely easier than sleeping on the streets without the Eden Project certainly but it's on November the 7th and something has happened Thursday November the 7th and it's the sponsored sleeper and what happens then if you do come along and you want to do that well you bring your sleeping bag with you and anything else you might want to bring So you come and you help yourself to some some cardboard boxes out of the tip at the side there when you just lay out a little bed for yourself you're given a paper sleeping bag over your your sleeping bag and you find a place to sleep. Eat in a wonderful and hostess fantastic lay and they Ponting coffee cereal to you have a sit down have a chat and the beginning of the night is quite light and there's lots of things going on so you can get to know all the different people are there. The chefs eaten they give their time and they volunteer on the night and they help you make pizzas or stew it's really nice to get food before you're able to bed down and then amazing Susie Mack will be singing for us on the evening so she would do that and we've got quite a lineup of people speaking about issues around homelessness on this event so Dave Brown from some pet trucks and Becky from the foundation talk about their work and about homelessness hadn't Truscott's who's just run the street draw $24.00 and found with she's going to be talking about what she's been doing and raising awareness of homelessness and then we've also got a young woman called Mimi bid who I 1st heard on radio Coolmore when she was being interviewed as she opened her a level results. Experience homelessness as a young person I remember that interview Yes not so long ago actually yeah absolutely. The fantastic really inspiring young woman isn't she she's amazing and to see her have that experience and now she works Frances Clarke She's doing incredibly well young accountant she was what struck me about that interview was that she said she just wanted to work and yet to study for exams to study for her a levels but the environment where she was living was very very difficult you know she was in various different hostels and shelters and yeah it was an inspiring young lady she's not very oldish least palatability 21 I think yeah so she's joining us to talk about that exact experience which is amazing and she really wants to try and raise awareness and share her experience for that purpose because she just hands I think to people who came in to talk to the people in the hospital didn't they I'm just trying to remember because it really struck a chord with me and they had belief that she could do it and it's all about believing in somebody isn't it if you believe in somebody you can help them have that self belief to actually move on in their lives missing is such a powerful story and I think the person coming with her on the night I think he was one of those people that spotted her and gave her 1st employment opportunity so yes I've still got those links it sounds amazing it really does Lois honestly and last year you raised something like $20000.00 pounds yeah it's an amazing event for us we have various people coming along so you have individuals like you or I come maybe as a family member or friend who want to have the experience and feel really passionate about the cause and that's wonderful and then you've also got people that come represent their business and I do it's a bit of team building exercise and they come to go to go a few businesses coming few from Nationwide intro that coming down and what's in my and some from Vic Stein's purchasing group one so just we're just didn't delighted to have all these people coming to join us and compete will turn up a. The nice if they just want to come along enjoying it was while you do you have to pick a space if there's some available on the day I'm sure you could book it then but I think they're probably sell out by then so I do you do that then there's a link online on the Eden Project website straight as fast as you click on that will take you through you have to sign a waiver and see where the usual stuff. Great low is thank you so much it's absolutely wonderful to have you here it really is and I hope it goes very very well that's the day November the 7th or I think you'll be doing it yourself I will . One wink last year so we'll see how it goes this year thank you Donna really kind of you to happen an absolute pleasure before you go that apple. Would you like to have a little Derek guessing celebrity here a week ago. You . Always. Feel gorgeous song but he's singing it live with any idea and I'm so sorry I don't recognize the vocal.
