And this is up for not over 5 love coming up in this hour will be funny at the moment would see where the police investigation into the terrorist attack at London Bridge is directed towards over the weekend it's been focused very much on Stafford and Stoke on Trent. It's also been taken on a political dimension which we'll discuss later on as well we'll hear why the South American country of Syria now is sentences president to 20 years in prison the 74 year old carney on an official visit to China is any question that they will return home to face justice and the satellite walls tens of thousands of new satellites and soon be over to our planet should we be worried as space becomes congested with them and they remembered in hours time would open up the phone lines raw virtual jukebox phone in Black Friday needs a theme she is I'm sure. First the license conditions of every convicted terrorist released from prison in England and Wales to be reviewed following Friday's London Bridge knife attack the man Khan who'd been freed off way through a 16 year jail sentence killed 2 people and injured 3 others the 28 year old who was wearing a fake suicide vest was shot dead by police after being restrained by members of the public John told more was the prison governor. Belmarsh in Brixton is a professor of applied social sciences at the University of Durham he says the system which is in place for radicalized offenders isn't fit for purpose there is no evidence to suggest that the prison service in this country has got to grips with the problem I mean one of the problems is there are more and more people who are being released having served terrorism related sentences and managing people back into the community doesn't come free it's going to take some specialist resources than specialist expertise and I'm not sure whether that exists at the moment you can't have a criminal justice system on the cheap and we've tried to have a criminal justice system on the cheap for far too long now one of the 2 people who was stabbed to death at London Bridge on Friday has been named as Jack Merritt a 25 year old law and criminology graduate from Cambridge University his father described him as a beautiful spirit who always took the side of the underdog correspondent John McManus was on London Bridge as the incident took place John what happened what did you say well it was pretty surreal I have to say I was crossing London Bridge just just I was that Sue to carry out some errands on my own behalf I was in at work that day it was around 2 o'clock and I don't know if you remember it was a beautiful sunny day here in London gorgeous sorts of day London Bridge always packed with people not not not just workers going to or from the city of London also many many tourists congregate there because that you get an amazing view of Tower Bridge so as I was walking along I remember dodging a few tourists who were taking the usual photos I stopped to check something on my phone and I suddenly realised that there was some kind of commotion going on on the other side of the bridge across 4 lanes of traffic I couldn't quite see what was going on from where I was but I could see there was some kind of fight happening a woman stopped next to me and I said I think this is a fight she said Yes I think it is as well and then I saw him realize a few people running past me so. Down the bridge looking a little bit scared I then looked across again to see what was going on and I realized that I'm a massive pylon like a rugby scrum had begun on the on the pavement on the other side of the bridge several people wore it same Simmie had piled on top of somebody now at the moment at that point I still didn't quite understand what was going on what we now know of course well that was at the high lawn where people from the fishmongers Hall who had followed those men can out on to London Bridge and where it's tempting to restrain him and to get his knife off him now I have to say that that point it was all very confusing nobody really knew what was going on and of course none of us knew what had happened at fishmongers hall live or we were totally unaware of that and I certainly remember looking round and and suddenly realising there were on police on the bridge one of whom was pointing his gun in the direction of that commotion. The police immediately shouted for everybody to leave the bridge we all started to move as I was moving away to the north side of the bridge I was very close to that part of the bridge 2 shots rang out I looked back and I saw that there was a prone person lying on the pavement we now know that was those men can the police had shot him we you know there were very many people on the bridge we were all moved off the bridge police shouting at us to move off back towards what is the monument to the Fire of London as were moving back up there I heard several more shots being fired as well and as I say nobody really aware what was going on what I thought was a fight what I need thought might be an incident in perhaps involving somebody with mental health issue because I'd heard a bit of Sharon saying turn out to be something much more serious but at the time I really can't emphasize this enough it's incredibly confusing you don't quite know what's going on but you're certainly taking quite a lot of things that are all happening at the same time and it can be very very disorientating but the police reach the scene really rapidly zooms from what you said was a very cool just on phone it seems to be by vehicle now as I said I would I had been crossing the bridge from south to north and I was very nearly at the northern side of the bridge when I suddenly realized the police were there now I think they had come by car I don't remember hearing any sirens as I was crossing the bridge but I think they got there by car but I can't be absolutely sure because it was all so confusing I do remember seeing one police officer start in the middle of the lanes of traffic he was the one who are remember holding the gun and we now know of course that there were offers over officers who were pulling those members of the public off the suspect as men can so that they could see what was happening but we do know that the police were called at about 158 this was all happening soon after 2 o'clock so yes they got there very quickly indeed and in fact soon after that point when we were all moved off the bridge suddenly there were police everywhere as I said the focus of the missing. Has moved to south and Stoke on Trent tell us what's been happening there on Saturday Yes Neil Basso who's the assistant commissioner of the Met Police gave an update earlier on Saturday evening he said they found no evidence to suggest that anybody else had been involved in this it's that which is which is quite reassuring but they were still making extensive inquiries to just make sure there was nobody else who might have been involved in in this so they can out to search he said addressing staff which are and stoke that was where those men can had been living when he got sounds of prison last December so they carried out searches there and they were supported by officers from Staffordshire in the West Midlands counterterrorism place and they haven't released any more details about what they may or may not have found so far I think we might hear more about that Sunday daytime John for now thank you very much our correspondent John McManus or as I say was our London Bridge as the incident unfolded on Friday afternoon now I've been hearing about the bravery of the floor London Bridge who faced up to the terrorist attack and wrestled him to the ground Thomas Gray is one of those men he operated search company driving classic many Q varies and was passing by with his colleague Steve when he saw a commotion on the street by London Bridge see even know his way to him and began by asking him why he was there that afternoon our I work for a company called mall car big city we provide a spoke site sinkholes across London in a fleet of crossing Mini Cooper. On the day myself and he had just finished a job at the daughter of the hotel. And we heard about a 2 hour gap in between there and then having to be present at the. Hotel very close to Liverpool Street Station. So we went for market to grab some food get ready for the job and then upon leaving bar market and heading so over London Bridge that's sort of when we then arrived at the incident. What was the 1st thing you saw that you realized something was wrong. When I was coming to the northern side of the bridge. The traffic was starting to back up which is kind of usual for the London Bridge but such notice people running jumping over the safety barriers that were installed after the Westminster attacks a few years ago and sort of running over the berries and across the highway and sort of over to the other side. And it was about point that sort of my attention was drawn over to the left and saw 3 extremely brave men sort of wrestling with somebody and I saw repast of what could only be considered sort of fun from afar extinguisher and it was at that point by Steve you know I thought I headed towards what was going on and what's in your mind at that stage presumably you're trying to compute what's going on here who is this well exactly that you know. We didn't have a clue as to what was going on we just saw people running. After seeing the power from the fire extinguisher mostly and I sort of turned the cars off. And where the pair of us were out of the car you know open doors it kind of escalated very quickly from we're out of the cart we're now running towards to go and aid the extremely brave members of the public that were already there and sort of chasing him over the bridge. So what did you do next. So upon leaving the car run towards where the incident was taking place. And saw that there was already sort of 3 or 4 men trying to apprehend. The suspect. One was carrying what I think named at the time a big bashing stick which turned out to be a narwhal tusk one man heard drops the fire extinguisher and everybody was essentially bundling on top of the man and trying to pin him to the floor. That point there was we kind of realized what was going on sort of notice the 2 knives that he was wielding So the 1st thing I did was find a disadvantage yes that he was barred by the time that I had arrived to the incident both Steve and I there were already $34.00 men holding the amount down and sort of restraining him. So we just wanted to to try and help them out and trying to make sure that they were safe as well because you know they they were 1st to the action and they need as much as we to provide really through. The 1st thing I did was I saw fire extinguisher was laid out on the floor where it was in between a couple of the people's legs I didn't want anyone to fall or to hurt and so I was going to pull that out of the way. And then sort of my attention was brought back to to the suspect and saw that you know he had a knife in either hand so decided to just kind of stamp on his left wrist is as hard as I could to try and free one of the knives off of it paid tape to his hand really. Did you by that stage had you seen this hoax would have known of the time suicide belt No I mean we weren't made aware of the vest until police arrived on the sing. The whole event from a sort of leaving my car and then having the police arrive was no more than a minute and a half and the response time of the place was incredible and it was only after the police it sort of pulled every single member of the public clear. For their own safety they sort of rolled the suspect on his back and then we were made aware that he was wearing what now turns out to be a hoax vest she stamped on his wrist the knife fell out of his hand or was it teeters on so it was a appeared to be taped to his hand so gave it sort of a that. And then. Somebody else slammed his wrist on the floor as well one of the gentlemen that was already restraining the suspect the knife had them being freed and then was kicked away by somebody else or thrown away or wasn't quite didn't have a full visual of the knife at that exact point. And then once the knife had been sort of thrown away northward London Bridge I decided to try and go grab a knife to give it to the police but by the time I got halfway to the knife the police had arrived and I thought probably the worse things we don't would be holding a knife at that point was he shouting anything only thing that we heard from from the suspect was get off of me that's all we heard really bizarre having to say good morning damage Yeah exactly and I think the overall resigning sort of message from . All of the chaps involved was it's not going to happen. Just kind of held and what we could until the police arrived. The instinct for most people in that type of situation is to run away why did you run towards it I haven't got a honest answer I have no clue as to why I did. It was one of those things you know I've been quoted as saying already that you know I grew up in rugby and the mentality on rugby or on the pitch or off pitch is just one in it's all in. All that something was going on so originally before even knowing you know what the incident was I wanted to go and kind of separate incident . Make sure that you know somebody wasn't getting beaten to a pulp. And then once I was there and then realized what was going on I was kind of like well I can't run away now I've got to stick it out and help our best I can and we know I know that those knives think you saw on this hand they had killed people just minutes. Exactly I mean we were made aware of this Upon arriving. The suspect being pinned on the floor you know one of the 1st question he said was what's going on and they said this guy should kill 2 people. Amongst many other rather rude. On on national radio play shot him pretty quickly on on arrival because clearly they thought there was a threat to life given what he'd been doing and the best that they'd seen. Yes So once making sure that everybody was clear. And that no civilians were in the pathway of getting shot they were screaming at the man to stay down not move. And then from what I saw the suspect then tried to stand up and then that was when sort of the 1st 2 shots and sort of saw the man fall back to the ground. So they were instructing him if he had stayed on he would have been shot. Down not only don't know that you heard them tell him to stay dine that very very clear and loud shouting stay down stay down. And clearly just was not listening to the police not you had time to think about Thomas. Were you frightened at any stage and. So weirdly The only time there was really frightened sort of 2 sections of all blurred into sort of about a minute or 2. Upon hearing that he was wearing a bomb. I was instantly in shock and really knowing what to do. And just trying to get myself out of harm's way but once behind the school bus I felt Ok. And after hearing what I can only assume was the fatal shot. And what Stevie has explained is sort of a small explosion I don't know what that was I just heard a sort of a snap or a crackle that wasn't gunfire. We then just sort of fled at that point sort of sprinting south over the bridge and hearing a sort of a volley or so shots above our heads. And sounding rather rather close so that was rather terrifying but. So you were still in the vicinity of this man when you learned that there was a possible suicide vest fashion random yet. Even though you had a vest I didn't know how powerful it was or what it could do not bomb expert play Call of Duty but it was your instinct to run. Instinct was just to find cover. And try and keep yourself safe and then after getting to the rear of the school bus was almost an American style bus quite small but with a glass panel door emergency door at the rear I saw there were you know young children want girl I can remember very clearly and I kind of thought at that point my responsibility was to make sure that they felt safe they felt everything was going to be Ok so that's kind of no real time to do anything but just really. Feel and I will. I mean the incident itself hasn't hasn't really sort of struck me I suppose. The sort of overwhelming support that I've received from everybody has been incredible. You know I can't thank anybody enough you know I've seen sort of messages on social media and so saying you know you know I'm a hero whatever and I don't really want to except that part so I don't feel I am I feel that the men that really taste of out of the out of the fishmongers you know with the task and the fire extinction the 3rd man. Can be seen jumping on him in the video those are those guys are the real heroes. And you know they really really did sacrifice that if it weren't for them you know I can say is that I would have done exactly the same it's quite incredible you know when I've been reading and watching some of the. Food age where there they are toe to toe with this guy he's standing there with these giant knives in his hand. Under toe to toe fighting with them pedestrians Yeah incredibly brave men. You know I don't know what came over them and I am extremely thankful to them and I'm sure that everybody else in the area which I had many friends in the area or extremely grateful to those 3 men and to the armed forces for so the emergency services. At the time stream a grateful to them and operation goes to those and so you've been getting as you've said and lots lots of people contacting you thanking you have you. Yeah I've had sort of people thanking me friends family loved ones people whom I'd never met before but somehow managed to find me on Facebook or so and it is really heartwarming to hear. But you know I don't feel the I deserve the price there are getting I don't feel that the people really at the heart of it. Have been given enough praise and I believe that's probably just because they haven't spoken to anybody I haven't heard anything from them but you know if you guys hear anything from them I'd be extremely overjoyed if you could pass on my contact details so I can go and have a point with them down the pub. Thomas thank you very much indeed for talking to us and I daresay be quite a few people admiring what you did on the page Thank you sir you're more than welcome Sir thank you very much for having me thank you it's all Mr Gray they afraid to talk company driving classic Mini Cooper who was passing by with his colleague Steve when he saw a commotion on the street by the London Bridge on Friday afternoon speaking to Steven road let's get the latest headlines in the morning papers are because we could today we would in the night editor of The Sun on Sunday now seem how very We're covering the political arguments that have been stirred up by the London Bridge attack the politics is a very important element of what is the role the big story I mean we doing this over 7 pages in The Sun on Sunday this morning and was so many different aspects of this story the most important one is the crime itself what happened and the incredible bravery of the people who responded not only the police forces both civilians and then there's the tragedy of those people who died and you know we have them mindful non-fact off from pages about what are the. Brave but tragic people who who lost his life in that story nevertheless know there are elements of how this was allowed to happen and just by coincidence we happened to be in the middle of a general election campaign in fact we're 11 days away from Britain going to the polls to elect the next government a poem and I'm trying minister and so they're all treading on eggshells in a little way but also they need to make political points here and there's an element of people saying who is to blame how this could have been avoided now it's quite legitimate to ask that question I mean in the case in this case we have. A terrorist mn count 28 who was. Jailed. A years ago he served only 8 years of that sentence because he is released after serving half of that sentence now it's quite complicated. There was a thing called indeterminate sentences which David Blunkett when he was Labor home secretary brought in they were done away with it was felt that. The indeterminate sentences gave nobody any hope of getting out and didn't look at rehabilitation certainly among young people he was a 1st count was it 1st given one of these in 7 sentences but then on appeal it went to the appeal courts and in the appeal court the panel led by surprised Leveson repaste is indefinite tariff with a fixed 16 year jail term now under some rules brought in by the Labor governments in 2008 when Gordon Brown was prime minister. It was made automatic that a prisoner could be released after serving half his or her sentence so in the case of this man who was jailed the sentence was around that time a while outlaw was still in place it's been reduced to a 3rd now he was released after after half of his sentence without going to any parade parole board now the conservatives of jumped on this and said it's Labor's fault and we'll know that and you've got labor saying it's the conservatives you've made cuts in place forces what sort of probate what sort of surveillance was this man and what sort of rehabilitation was he given in prison so there's a bit of a. Gentle argument going on behind the scenes as to as to who what what could have been done to avoid this and perhaps is the hands of. Blame being attached by both sides and you have featured in the sun and some of this morning he spends between 200 secretaries Well one former homes are in the current home secretary with regards to this incident yes because evacuate with a former Labor Home Affairs spokes person is. Home Affairs of course she wasn't home safe so it wasn't as though that's Ok but there was and they're going. To put it serve in a in Labor Labor Government she was in a high a few high positions but most recently before dynamic got the job she she was a home 1st spokes person and I'm very very good at it too and she's she's. Raising all sorts of questions on social media about the conception of and pretty Patel The current home secretary as waiting quickly pointing out in fact that it was in fact the Labor Party which brought in these automatic release without any parole board involvement for prisoners now we have spoken to Boris Johnson the prime minister who's told us that he if he is made prime minister more returned as prime minister in $1211.00 days time he will scrap this and he will make terrorists. Every day of their prison sentence he's going to overhaul the criminal justice system he says the worst offenders will be locked up for a minimum of 14 years and what he says 14 years that doesn't mean they get out after 7 it means they'll stay in for the full 14 because he will end automatic get a release not only for terrorists but for rapists and those convicted of serious violence and sexual offenses so he's saying you know if you're convicted of this then you will. You will serve the mandatory minimum sentence has handed. Down by the course now that is his his stance on that one Jeremy call been made while. He's been on t.v. Last night. On the b.b.c. To ask him questions about what was done to rehabilitate him in prison and what surveillance was the and he also asked question about why the parole bull board wasn't involved but I think we explain why that's the case he's also raising questions about Britain's foreign policy. And Goldmans in Iraq war the involvement in Libya and saying that all we have done by getting involved abroad is to stare of hatred and to encourage terrorism Now in fairness to terror Jeremy Corbin critic critics will jump on and say he's blaming our own country he is making clear that he's not saying that that is the complete cause he says that terrorists are palpable for what they've done themselves but nevertheless well staring. Further problems by doing that is his case on that one day would the Sun on Sunday after the news is war find out just what the president of the South American country has done to be sentenced to 20 years in jail he's currently on an official visit to China 1st let's get the latest 5 Live headlines here Saima Morgan from digital b.b.c. Radio 5 Live available on the b.b.c. Sounds are up all night with Dawson attaboy It's a country we don't visit often enough or not but the news from today so startling we've got to go to the South American country of Cern where the president has been sentenced to 20 years in prison over the execution of 15 political opponents in 1902. 74 years old now is currently on an official visit to China he'll have 2 weeks to appeal against the conviction is probably a previously denied the allegations were Harmon is a journalist in the Syrian army joins us now Armin what is does he is accused of doing exactly excuse me I didn't hear the question very well I'm sure apologies I was asking what's the president accused of doing exactly. He is accused of murdering 15 opponents of Paris who are against merit then military rule and not only him not only he was accused only about the photos but also when he other suspects not all of them have been having sentence but some of them have some have some of them have died already but the president in the leader of the country he was accused of involvement of murdering. His opponent What were the circumstances why why did he. Opponents and. What was his all good man for this. At that time there was a military there was a military dictatorship 180 let a military coup. He promised to bring back democracy in October 82 but he didn't bring it back so there were demonstrations people were going on the street and he felt threatened his military regime was near to falling down and there over many people on the streets unions you nearly. Actually actually. A part of the population that wanted him to step down and then he actually made a complet plan that there was a coup attempt going on from the Netherlands and these people that he took from home in the middle of the night. They were actually roughly taken from their beds and they were brought to a fortress which is near the surname river in the capital center of the capital and they were tortured and they were shot down they were actually cured without any trial and the 1st the 1st thing that he had was well actually to try to to run away and we had to shut them but no one believes that and it took quite a long time before the before the trial started it was in 2007 and actually it finished with the verdict yesterday Friday it's taken 37 years after people. Have people believed all along since. The 15th political opponents were murdered and how how has the president managed to stay in power nevertheless with this accusation all this cloud hanging over. Yes that's a very interesting question only people who live in Syria will ever standards it's a it's a very small country everybody knows each other. The suspects sometimes were relatives of the victims so there is a very big atmosphere of. Not fighting with each other 'd people cover everything under the sand so you don't see it and it took quite a long time before the relatives actually started really or actually managed to start. To start the trial some people say that we've got an answer and everything is possible and this is actually a good example. Although the president is in China he has no immunity from prosecution of. He has actually but then he started actually there and there wasn't it wasn't. The judges the court marshal didn't. Offer or a warrant to arrest him when he comes back he comes back Sunday morning early Sunday morning. His supporters will go to have court to actually welcome him with flags of the party and they will honor him for being very successful in China he made agreements there. And that's what's that's what's going to happen and that's the way he survived actually not overfished here of course but he survived also politically. He's not a supplier for asylum in China or anything on that excuse me so you don't think he will apply for asylum for political asylum in China rather than return to a sentence. No he is not afraid he will do that nothing will happen to him at this moment he has been a free man from the start of the trial and he has been a freeman of the crimes 37 years long so he has nothing to fear at this moment although there is a verdict now he will appeal that's quite sure and besides he also has. The possibility that the president of the country has the possibility to. To pardon the people who are who are. The home of a verdict has been spoken out. There is that there is a quite easy trick he can go out of the country and then the vice president can pardon him so he has nothing to fear at this moment. Ahmed thank you very much good speeches. Thank you very much Ahmed. A journalist and soon I'll keep an eye of the story for you we'll see what the developments are on the. You know the new satellites as you know form an important part of. Science in relationship with space for example space eggs the Luna company if you like or lease a space company has loads $120.00 satellites down in an effort to provide Internet service to every part of the world but the company has got permission to launch 30000 more. And then all the only ones launching satellites into space Amazon want to lose 3000 or so Boeing the airline company wants to enjoy anything up to another 3000 even Canada yes Canada wants to launch 300 of their own satellites but this is also causing problems for amateur astronomers Nicole Morty Lara is a senior reporter we've c.b.c. Sides in Toronto and is also the editor of The Journal of the roll as for normal society of Canada Nicole I apologize I was sort of like tongue in cheek talking about even got it apologize for that I apologize now what is the problem with people launching loads and loads of satellites into space so there's a lot of space up there. Yeah you know it the problem is it's not only a problem for the hobby but it's a problem for professional astronomers as well so for the hobby I'm also an amateur asked and you know we try to take pictures or really observe and we we take pictures we leave it the camera you know a lens open takes long exposure but what ends up happening is you get the streaks across the frame of your image so that's you know it's annoying for hobbyists but for professional straw members that really interrupts with the science that they're able to do and this is what is concerning there is a lot of space there but there are also right now there are about 5000. Satellites in orbit both defunct and functional at the moment but to put up perhaps 30000 more and then to put That's one company who's you know there are 3rd there goals nice is great is trying to prevent the provided services to every part of the world but it also interferes with science and that's that's the concern astronomers have. Ok it's a concern but this is progress isn't it just like Minnesota's saying the the advancements on the planet Earth get in the way of environmentalist. Yeah but it's progress we're talking about and you know going to stop progress from happening we know what difference satellites make to our lives here on Earth and that's just a fact the even scientists are going to have to live with isn't absolutely and no one is saying they don't want them to launch the satellites we want you know to provide Internet service to people around it's very important you know we use g.p.s. On our phones it's thanks to those constellations that suddenly. There are so many of them and that they've been around for a long time but you know the concern is there was no regulation around it and and some even believe it took space x. By surprise to see how bright these the satellites were now when they were there brightest they were in a lower altitude when they go higher up you know not quite as visible to you when I perhaps in cities but they're saying wait we might we should have examined this before and try to reduce the Elpida all the reflectivity of the surfaces on the satellites and also you know there's there's the concern over it's not just optical astronomy I should also include it's also radio astronomy and you know progress is also astronomers trying to figure out where we came from and as so it's just trying to find common ground where we can actually live together and not have these these things streaking through images and disrupting science like absolutely to look through telescope and to see a Cessna. How clear can you see the Cessna was like in differentiation with seeing a star or planet one of well actually. You don't need a telescope and that's that that's the thing you're not looking through a telescope when they take the slide across the you know the few there are some images from telescopes that were trying to conduct operations. On the 11th when they launched but really you're I can stand outside that's how bright they were stand outside you see a streak of you know some 20 odd because they don't all reflect time it depends on where they are. But you just stand there and it's just a parade of light strictly So yes you know oh yeah and that's what people are concerned about as well at least in their initial launch after their initial launch . And that's within days and that's what took everybody by surprise I'd love to see them and I know that's not going to solve. A lot never seen a sense like that I cannot really you haven't know what I may have without realizing it clearly for what else is a problem without realizing oh yeah you can see them and that's what people are saying look on any given night even I'm in Toronto you know a lot of light pollution and I can see them I can see the satellites and these are just one or 2 or 3 but imagine 30000 of these satellites or more so it's just like I said finding a common ground finding a solution. Yeah of course how would I know that if I look up in the sky and is a sas I would I be able to distinguish between that and say a star or a shooting star or any other object there might be of it so a satellite moves very slowly against the night sky in a very obvious direction and there's no way a result like planes that will blink of easily but you it sometimes they'll flare even every so often so you might it might they don't necessarily go across the entire sky because it depends on the satellite itself and the position of the sun in the position of earth and it'll just go quietly across the night sky and you can see any night and that's the thing if you look up you'll see a satellite Absolutely. Did not look up because I'm one of those people that will get cool I'll get addicted to looking up. So I better not because I've done that with stars and I do good legs and I must admit what you think the solution is presuming that you want to see some international regulation about this what would it look like yes this is what astronomers are doing so space x. Is concerned about this is well they are talking to astronomical organizations from around the world including the International Astronomical Union the American Astronomical Society and more and they are trying to come up with a solution you know some say it's painted black so you don't get the reflectivity off it but there are also sensitive instruments in there and black absorbs light so the to figure out something and I'm sure that they will you know reach an agreement it's just you know the science is there and like I said this was a surprise to everybody so it just is going to take some time to really appreciate you told us about it Nicole thank you very much maybe we'll speak again about this whole thing else but we're always looking up at the night sky this is go up or not this program so that's was it ideal for you I should imagine yes absolutely Nicole thank you very much thank you Nicole what a lot of the senior reports of c.b.c. . Signs in Toronto and if you have see this as laughing as God I want to be the only person on the planet who has the same pump if you haven't seen one detects me on 85058 remote open b.b.c. Don't kowtow u.k. And remember the subject for this morning's books phoning is a theme tune for Black Friday needs one what should the theme to be and I've had a cracker of a suggestion by the way a cracker of a suggestion I hope that will lead off of virtue to both so to end with just that when nature of vs catch up with a headline stateside is Lynn Sweet from the Chicago Sun Times Good morning Lynn here we are again date and what's the mayor saying that once was hammer the man well what is happening now is that we had a video that went viral I think it might have even reached globally because it showed Chicago police who are been in the news about. For mistreatment but this story isn't it seems the video might not be what it's saying This video was posted to social media it appeared to show police throwing a man over a behind him when an officer picked him up on his feet this this person and picked him up off the street and street and threw him on the ground and the man appeared to lie motionless Well it turned out this just happened a short time ago that this man was charged with spitting on a policeman he faces a felony count of aggregated battery Mr member counts of assault and resisting arrest and drinking alcohol in public so the mare found this video very disturbing when it 1st came out I think it was the day before yesterday happen the incident on Thursday so now today the police are charging this man and the reason this is very sensitive is that this is. The man who is under arrest is. An African-American This was a neighborhood on the south side and should if it looks like that Chicago police are just lifting and man off this fiend slamming him on the ground and it was an obvious what the reason is of course this is sensitive down but now it turns out that the man spin on an officer while of being detained for drinking alcohol Now whether or not the police officer acted appropriately remains to be seen and the we don't have the latest from the mayor as of this arrest right now but these kind of incidents and these viral videos which to shoot around the world are are just issues that big cities now have to deal with. Chicago does seem somewhat backward in some SUV I'm only just realizing that there's a beautiful a ray of queer folk in the city isn't it well this is a show that the reference that you're doing this to a that you're making it thank you for the introduction is that there is a Showtime cable series coming up and it is called a work in progress it's going to premier it December 8th and it deals with sexual and gender identity but the reason we care about it at the Sun Times is that it was written produced and the brainstorm of a Chicago a name Abby McKenney and all the actors and it are from Chicago of different sexual and gender identities that the it is a growth from an improv series and now this work in progress it's a coming of age story about a 45 year old self described Querrey Dyke who's depressed and has given herself 180 days to decide whether and that she wants to continue living now as you can see that's a comedy right now only in America again you find these kind of things so funny I looking for it to seem to show but this is a very big deal that Showtime and I don't know if you see it in the United Kingdom or in some other places where we're being heard right now but it's it is it's another verb variation of an h.b.o. Special cable but when you get someone it Showtime to show your feature it's a big deal a few like may live foot now because I shouldn't smoke and. From what you're saying Chicago is anything but backward when it comes to gender politics and sexuality Oh you have a good point because. There are Mary Lightfoot is an out lesbian like other thing that happened this week is that here it is were in the Trump to air Trump disappointing all kinds of conservative judges but because of the great negotiating skills support of our Democratic senators he was able to get approved and she was sworn in this week a woman who is a Democratic allied 1st outwardly gay woman who is now a federal judge on the bench in Chicago and she was sworn in every Lightfoot was in the courtroom to see her so. Anyway now that you brought it up that was just another thing that happened because Chicago when it comes to sexual issues is very very progressive though as we discuss we have issues with police you have it well visit. With we as well sometimes you know it was before these doesn't it but oh yes I wonder whether you think. Being. A gay male has made a difference to you. If you like the acceptance of sexuality in the city so so so far no except when she just got her budget passed she lit up a cigar. Only in America and perhaps only Chicago let's listen thank you very much in search of a next time indeed Tara Lynn Sweet of the Chicago Sun Times 080-859-0961 extension 3 not to join us for this morning's Ridgeview both trying to spin used to mean nothing is plain to me from anyone in this c.b.c. Radio 5 Live it's to call it Good morning this is a lot of adults and I bought him a new zone pipeline one of the victims of Friday's attack in London is identified and didn't sports Bunsen roots back home for England's state build a platform in Hamilton. This is. The scene 5 my. Lovers And good morning one of the 2 people who was stoned to death in London on Friday has been identified as Jock Merritt the 25 year old had helped organize a conference on prisoner rehabilitation in London Bridge His family says he loved his job 3 people were also injured in the attack our correspondent is Duncan Kennedy there was one person who was said to be in a critical but stable condition but that has now become just stable that's the same for one of the other 3 injured and the 3rd person is not in a serious condition at all all the 3 injured people involved in this are now not in a critical condition 2 people killed Jack merit and the woman has not yet been named.
