Welcome back to the show Christmas is whether it's in charge of our technical stuff tonight all the signs and all Chloe is doing one of her 1st shifts in charge of a radio show and brilliant there's so much going on you wouldn't think so little because all those calls to get up on a lot so fantastic stuff Chris the numbers away at all wait 590961308 away at 590-9613 it's not an exaggeration says probably 200 different subjects has been represented tonight in texture calls so a lot of time if you're not getting on with group things together only go look that one person would be the answer to those 50 texts right so even though we get such a high volume keep the calls come in n o it away at 5909613 because you might trigger a different conversation and that sort of what we try and do over the time. We're talking to a Mint who is in one of the locked I know tells and it's called this which is which is brilliant and you stead What is we've talked about various parts on the just so you know the window is probably because it's looked as you look out onto the runway there said I am sorry do you look tight to the runway and the port you know literally my front is McDonald's. Home I'll be fine. Thank you to your knowledge to go to the McDonald's you know you know unfortunately. When you open the willy this could smell the fud. Could you pay someone and then one of the crew members a tiny little rock in a McDonald's I would have been open to bribery. I mean if you call him over. Shock among us probably like a jailable offense or don't do that because that tech there is think it would be jailable I don't want to hear the headline tomorrow. Madame's been jail or 10 years for sneaky thank. You so many questions the 750 quid on your in with your mate have you both had to pay 79 or 50 quid each you know for 2 people live reduced it down to 2400 so that's the right there as well as the. Person so it's not like you about a $110.00 a day starting to get to the point where you would be outraged in terms of you get your food you get your board it's getting closer resin it is getting closer to acceptable I think it kind of is because through the portions of the food is not too great because we both naturally. And some of the quality of the food quality is quite good to be honest and what it will remain what he can put it out for dinner. To be awesome chicken with some different type of salad not too sure it was cold. And they. Always thought of what was a nice treat called. The nice food. Artichoke things called off the choke and I thought Ok he isn't Heinlein but it was a lot of the my brain not but you got to be a bit careful it's very fast genic. Reserves other words that get truth out of Word farted yet it is now and I just made it up. To find a room that could get tricky I mean that's something that's one of the reasons we opened the window t. I'm not gonna. But if you do get peckish can you can you can call in a takeaway or 2 Yeah we try to sell something and there is room service available which is quite pricey but you could also do you even eat something and how that works is we order it we say and room number to the delivery driver and they jack up the security and then then assume the security of free they jerk off to our room that could be instant or it could be it could take a while depending on how free they are yeah wow I Ok so overall experience and do you feel like you're in a fancy prison all are you like Ok I needed to go away to one of these countries I knew what was going to happen it is what it is so what I would take the illiberal describe all rules I'm a blonde it's not seen that but it's not too good cuz it's real I doubt it even to go to the shops or go out in the area it wouldn't be too bad because what before we strew out there what this was a really confirmed that was talking about it because when you threw out on the 2nd of February. Around that time it was 100 percent nothing was going on there were still trying to make it happen we tried to fly back on the 14th However the last available flight p.c.r. Just came a bit too late so that did not I was born in the flight which made us come on the sixteenth's. Yeah. It was your friend on another phone call there was any one year you really just wasn't up another radio station has an unbelievable what. Just a few friends and stuff that's what. I'm after by a time out to make the most of it yeah you have to write what I would want their 2 young lads to why I'm not going we think I'd want to go on like a p.s. For an x. Box or something and. I would be clear I'm not. I mean we really want somebody if anyone wants that the only. Doing is a charity for the. Going is a charity for that donate next boxes to people at the Radisson Blu. Listen thank you so much it was really great to have your on and really get inside one of those rooms and find out what the what the crowd as an stared at the hotel you know before an early flight in the morning so writes in our own tail and you know it's you still would want to have to stay there for 10 or 11 nights but it sounds like you in good spirits and thank you for bringing that to. No worries thank you for having me on. Last night you know it thank you. Lovely lovely boy is well right really nice right here we go ritual and stuff like best if you tax for Christmas did you make up for the junkpile or is in a word. No it will Ginny called The End of something means makes it happen this is a medical speak so a wreath most genic means makes you have heart arrhythmias So I kind of thought well if I put the word fault with Jenny then far to Jen It means makes you have farts and an honesty there's a lot of soluble fiber in artichoke prudence and so we tend to have a Motu a promo to Lety effect would you spell it f a r t g a n i c No I would put an o. In there forto. So not far to Janet farto Janet hold on a 2nd for to generate you know does exist farter genic is a Google walk forto Janick isn't. It's been used as far back as 2011. Can see here but it is and it I don't think it's made any dictionaries yet obviously using it. Is if you're going to use it and you know in this space and say somebody like Susie heard it and they got to put in the Oxford English Dictionary then it would be connected to you so. Count down no because it's got too many letters. Anymore ritual in. Return suffix says could you ask Christian call in a bible or an icon as in a birthday cake is my daughter's It 10th birthday she got her cake at 18 Ok I'm not going there it's a lot fine. Is it Ok to eat the cake after she's blown the candles or should she not blow the might Chris this is brilliant. We've had this discussion in our house before because you know young kids how you're buying their arses under the sun and when you go. And blow out the candles you are blowing out fowls and of droplets and you are decorating that cake with a lovely ample supply of saliva and in that saliva will be a host to bacteria and there are millions millions upon millions of microbes in your mouth and they will come out all over the cake and viruses as well as lots of viruses that live in your in your survivor in your mouth up your nose and the rush of air will deposit those liberally all over the table the cutlery the cake and you can eat it now if you think about it when you share a living space with somebody we're doing that to each other anyway so if you are doing the cake blowing with people that you share close personal space with all the time anyway you're probably not sharing anything with them you haven't already got but where it matters is if you get a bunch of people around who don't know each other like a kids party which you're not doing that at the moment anyway but for the sake of argument if you did then you've got the opportunity to spread stuff around the people haven't got so that's what makes a difference so I would say if you're all a close unit bunch of people who all live together and you're sharing air and chatting together you're there for spraying each other with saliva on a daily basis anyways not to make climate a difference I wouldn't say but if it's an unknown entity someone who has come around and you don't know them and you wouldn't be comfortable to them then I probably wouldn't spill over the cake either. What it what it is it can be too old for calmness and a kick you will not help because I have a lot of saké we do use a probably a logarithmic scale though because once you get to our decade in life you know if you run out you either have to consume so many calories that you're a high risk of cholesterol poisoning to have a cake big enough to accommodate that many candles or you have to. Resort to some kind of lower group make scale to have violence or bad psychologically or have a fire risk so you need to turn to if she found you also you can buy big wax candles that are numbers made of wax so you can have a candle in your case you could have either 3 for example or yeah. So a sin Johns are missing 2 fire brigades I'd sign if you did one for every year so it's good if you Peter's writing numbers I'll work welfare write 3 more to all we got some locked on purchases as well good evening column my my my locked and purchases a hot water top. No more waiting for the kettle the border that's a sprint. Tab I have actually got one of those that is connected to something then . No no you know those fancy tops you post Daryn and they give you your board and hot water if you see no yeah I thought it was going to be like an oven glove because I know some of the bone oven glove and I said was a real ripoff because they put all the food in it came back an hour later was still cold and I went very precious will be missed. And often. Get right more text Conan Mark says when a figure we've done this but I think it's good deed this it will carry in so many times right when a figure says 70 percent efficacy. 70 percent of people are protected fully and 30 percent just that mark or 70 percent likelihood of protection. It means that when you take every say $100.00 people and you vaccinate them and then those 100 people are exposed to virus then of those exposed individuals we know that at least say 70 percent if that's the efficacy won't get severe disease what we can't say is that the 30 percent will get severe disease we can only say that they they might not be protected from severe disease what we understand about these vaccines is that probably that you will get protection from severe disease for almost everybody but you will convert you know the number of people who will will otherwise of have had a very very severe disease into a much smaller number so for the sake of argument if ice is efficacies 95 percent that means out of 100 people 95 people. Will be fine who otherwise wouldn't. Right loads and loads and loads and loads and loads common then. There's a birthday cake upped it tell me about this song is from a different Rachel in Manchester helping out rates on stuff like water by claiming film the kick stick the candles on with the picket covered playing fell blow the candles I then take the can as I remove the clang fell clean kick. Sounds good to me I mean obviously you've still got the problem of that you've got a fiddle around it might damage the icing if you've got a very lot of mints on the cake then that there might be a problem but how does and I was getting actually uneasy and I didn't ask you to be Mary Berry I asked you to be a doctor Christmas would die keep the disease. Off the kick I don't want it again I didn't hear you know when you get missing all the icing my mova bad are I mean your parts just tell me is that I'm keep the disease or not doctor it will significantly cut down the affections burden on the cake but look here's the rub every time we do this anyway you're blowing huge amounts of stuff into the air and it's not just what lands on the cake it works with what's going up in the air and so we're going to breathe air in anyway so you could just have your cake and eat it to be honest in terms of your viruses Yes Also our other thing is to say I think my my suggestion that if people you have already got a very close personal relationship with you you're sharing with your bugs anyway and we know this because people have done studies where they've they've swapped people and looked at the microbes we carry top end and bottom end and you can look in families and you can see that there's a very close association between individuals who live together and what lives on them and inside them whereas if you are diverse people in the population who don't normally get together they have very different microbial flora and fauna on them and so therefore that's why I'm advocating his people you know really well you need to be a lot of time with you're probably not going to exchange anything with them that you haven't got already and vice versa where is below you don't know so well you are so probably do the clingfilm trick on the people who you don't know so well but family and people like that if you're healthy probably not going to be a risk Yeah right logic questions come in but skills let me throw hollowed out yeah 2 or 3 at a time in Ingle foot so Lucy in Martin park wants to know can he said that the rest of us are. Says Cohen and Dr Chris can you separate the risks of 2nd risk no I'll read it and then Chris can set it as I spring creatively it's lovely I can he said at the risk of secondary pupils returning to school and going to through and alone . If schools are or are to open in the march all school staff should be vaccinated if you teach a 5 period day you're asking teachers to mix the 150 students and one day stop more statement but obviously to garner. Opinion on not and and the most random question ever but I love Miranda an alternate high Dr Chris high will covert effectiveness Connex to kids the head lice population or future generations of parents going to miss out in the joy of Child and best Haitians So 3 questions connect that the kids want is a bite Secondly the dangers of secondary the rescue 2nd it was called by your view teachers get vaccinated on the future of head lice. In terms of sectors school kids going back obviously as soon as we start having contacts between individuals there's a higher risk of transmission between individuals but this should hopefully be countered by a number of measures number one is that schools should be observing secure premises and an operating conditions so that should help to mitigate things a bit number 2 the plan that will be outlined by Boris Johnson next week we understand will include provision for doing regular testing of children probably twice a week using home lateral flow tests so that we can try to head off people going into school before they leave home who might have it which hopefully will cut down the chances of transmission within school and 3rd as far as we can tell younger people are less at risk of severe disease than older people and therefore the risk for the children themselves of being in school even if they do catch it is regarded as low now that feeds actually into the question of teachers and I think that that's a reasonable case is being made that teachers do have a lot of contact and we're expecting them since the we regard schooling and education as one of the cornerstones of getting the country back to normal that is a plan going to play their part in that obviously and I think that given that the number of teachers really in the grand scheme of things is quite small up against the number of people we're managing to vaccinate every day and we should therefore make a push to try to get teachers vaccinated because then it would allow the enormous numbers of fears and help us to maintain our schools open and keep the educational system running which we regard as that important fundamental cornerstone on it at the hard liners and take the pressure off parents quite and the Home School and caressed stress and the arguments don't sell so even though like you they're Go ahead it makes toll sense to me I just don't know why they're not in the right and I don't know you know and I think it's fair enough I think that for. Probably that they should just sort this out and and arrange for teachers to receive exaggerated vaccination since it is part and parcel of the strategy to get the country back to normal. My old master teacher he should be by he wasn't very nice but every other teacher just not my old boss teacher cycle at. What was his night I'm not going to I'm not going into that you know I found my thoughts I was tidying up and I got bags of reports right now are and it next week I've got every report we should do this next week I've got everybody saw us it's me about it I forgot it's so funny I found my sports I'm going to region next week I'll read you the sports reply won't sport that is Lord of The Bernie but it is a sport one is very funny that I'm sure I've got like 3 or 4 from the primary school so I get them as well I will read them I got there that's a great idea for next week throwing down the gauntlet to you but also to have one out there listening if people have got their school reports from the 1980s before do shit we'll have we'll have a share in next week with that I'll head lice Yes I'm lucky I've never had head lice I know people who have and these these have not gone away despite the best public health measures to try to stop them but I suspect that probably these measures we're all in at the moment will of help to cut down the numbers enormously there will unfortunately though still be people in society who've got them and harbor them and they will make a comeback because ultimately child children will be getting back together we will get back to normal eventually and I think the then it will be back but I think probably in the same way that flu is having a hard time I mean don't feel very sorry for the flu virus but the flu is found a struggle to have to find a home this year they've been very few cases in the country we're looking we're not finding it very very few cases because all the measures that are in place are helping to cut down the transmission of flu as well so I think it's are a bit bigger and require even longer personal contact than the physical distance he would allow and so probably we are going to see a bit of a drop in things so don't buy shares in the manufacturers of a top member what the name of that stinky stuff is now that you wash your hair with to get rid of it but to our day our look at it must legally say that look at it maybe you should maybe shouldn't but on a stock market show I think I'd have to say that Dr Chris. Stopping and eternal I just don't buy shares in the manufacturers of. Having speculated that the price is going to go because I don't think it will. Hear Here's adoptive already trying to be a baker a stock market analyst you know and just. Be careful when us let's go to Matt in Manchester I am at a high a. Number of high old men if you don't mind me asking. There was a d.j. Maggie about 15 years ago think I was brilliant in a track called signature and. I don't know what he's from looking up and looking at you talk to Chris and I look it up and you know sure. January. When I was talking. About. 5 days later I got into an. Isolating. The test. So I thought my. First. Radio. You know I mean I just did you get it all Chris because we covered a slide show you know media Ok you're basically saying. You had it you've heard this report that people have been collecting so-called convalescent plasma from people who've recovered because they have antibodies that might be used to treat other people have been trials going on looking at this because this has a long track record back in the day of the Spanish flu pandemic actually there was an initiative to treat people by taking the blood plasma from people who'd recovered from Spanish Flu and giving that to people who had severe doses of the flu themselves and their rationale was that they didn't know about antibodies in those days but they reasoned there might be something in the blood that cured a person who'd recovered and could therefore be transmitted to a person who was incubating or suffering with the disease that would help them they've tried to do this with Cove it hasn't been very successful and we think that it hasn't been very successful as a curative measure or a therapeutic measure probably because most people who recover uneventfully probably have very low levels of antibody in their blood whereas there are some treatments that the pharmaceutical companies coming up with there's a there's a drug company in America called regeneration and there's also a Astra Zeneca in this country and they are making a very high concentration cocktail of what are called monoclonal antibodies and instead of collecting blood from people who recover from kroner virus they actually use modified cells in the laboratory to churn out enormous quantities of these speak very specific antibodies they use a pair of antibodies in both cases and this does appear to have some kind of impact because those antibodies are present in such high concentrations that when infused into a person very early in the illness they can soak up the virus and stop it spreading a stop again at. Hold in the body but the promise that we'd hoped would would come from doing convalescent plasma trials and it hasn't really demonstrated very convincing evidence of success so people are turning to step back from that and focusing on on other measures that might be able to help people. Do well as Sarah. If there's a trial out calling for it that could be very useful because people are also looking at levels relative levels between individuals cell counts and so on because we're still trying to learn exactly how people who have different levels of civility and and long type symptoms as well what the picture looks like in them so people are always was very grateful for people taking part in trials and I kind of things to do please if you have the option to do please volunteer because this material is all very useful and you help me out many a year well I would. Not then have all these. All the. Symptoms mention that rash and rash and they are you know those all the rest. Did you test and did you test positive for Kovan Mattie Dr Yes Yeah you're starting with work earlier near in January so it doesn't matter how many 70 odd cold it is cold or do you just it's more severe less severe tacho every bit of wood everyone listening but yet doesn't matter your pot you're Sarah Ms brilliant Yeah that doesn't matter Chris right what type of heart if you've had it you can help yeah sure unemployment I was going to ask to test that would be fine yeah yeah p.c.r. P.c.r. . Yeah. Other question I would like to ask you you know do you. Like. Common knowledge. Either cold. Arielle the found out I did find out it didn't work when I'm in. My opinion be that what it is at all costs like being left to only what you want you allow you to be no more. Well you can and a little bit Matty so I just want to pick up and not because it's a weird signal and maybe maybe because we're obviously Eleanor Holmes so many people here need a bit clearer Chris you are in the UK The I remember the were to pick up an s. This is really really important Mehdi Chris I remember him great advice a long time ago when kidney infection at the time and I was like I'm trying the best to do a bit of work and I didn't and you were like while your energy stored up you needed to fight off the him facts and nothing else right so so what so what is that like don't do it your body doesn't permit it to like Don't push it when you've got is that all your energy is to fight it right Chris. Yeah and when you're making an immune response you're going to make millions of new blood cells you're effectively going to build a whole new organ inside your body because immune system is an organ and when it responds against an infection it is it is burning off for rates of calories and it's doing that to make antibodies which are proteins They're molecules that are sticky that float around in your blood and they're looking for stuff to latch onto that they've been programmed to recognise and behind the scenes you're also churning out enormous numbers of new white blood cells which can make those antibodies but also know how to go and find cells the virus is lurking in them and you are building an organ and that takes enormous amounts of energy and so the reason that your body is programmed to make you feel knackered when you're unwell is so that you don't get tempted to go run a marathon or something because you need all those calories in order to fuel your immune system so it's a bit like in Star Trek where they used to sort of route the power to the engines to escape from whoever your body basically roots all of your resources straight into where it's absolutely most needed and that means into the immune system to give it the best chance it has of building that response and so it forces you to take it easy when your own well and that the reason you take it easy is because all the immune signals that are being churned out as the immune system builds its response they make you have the symptoms if you don't have those immune responses you don't actually feel that ill but therefore you're not going to get rid of the virus that well so you do see people who've got immune problems and stop them reacting very well they don't have the same symptoms as people who have a very vigorous immune response so it seems paradoxical that people who've got the best immune response feel ill really ill but it's actually because you're making a very vigorous response and then you'll recover very quickly. And great call Thank you very much to Matty. I mentioned that d.j. Matty used to listen to the players record and really want sadly passed away bless born same almost as that same day as me. Months of months apart but 77 on the past when 2011 that's how long ago I I played music and Radio one but it was a French hip hop and high show producer and musician that did very well you know when the dance the dance world saw a lot of the name up there after mention it never bless him I think I know I think I know the story on him he used to do all these mix tapes and things and yeah I didn't didn't he didn't he work was need based in Spain for a while he might probably was in a margin so yeah cause he if you're thinking he's denying them relapse used to that's where he started and he became very successful I think I think I heard his. Through history is in a fell through a skylight and his home. Bless the no not is lit up. But yeah and just off the bottom and even on the top of his music brought in a such ship. Let's go to Mark in Cambridge idea Markie are right there on 5 year old code it in January and 70 years old in March. The 1st to church on the 28th. And the 2nd one of the states that. May are wondering whether the. More research on the 2nd job is to. Rid. Of it I mean more research on the. As far as I know so don't take this is gospel because this is such a fast moving thing I've seen on quarter blogs questioning whether or not we do need to give a double hit to people who have had a confirmed recent diagnosis my understanding though is that the moment we're going business as usual and that people should receive the full course of whatever they're programmed to have they're not you know this is a moving thing and open to learning all the time and if we begin to learn by actually following up and testing people which is which happening now what happens in the aftermath of trying to virus and whether there's not much point in giving people a further dose of vaccine because they've already got a really good immune response it may well be that we do refine and change up our protocol but my understanding and as the state police do check and this is gospel because I don't know for sure in my love child. Yeah but my understanding at the moment is we should carry on going business as usual and and complete the course of whatever it is your program to receive All right so so so it's very much. Yes I would but what I would say if you have the great reassurance that you've had it you've recovered you will of made an immune response in the course of recovering their fear because you know it will boost that response when you have the vaccine which will be really good because it means that then you'll be even more protected and and then you know I'm wondering what will happen is you what are you going to talk to when you have the 2nd one not you know it's it's unlikely that that will happen because if you think about it we go through life with that happening all the time say I caught the flu I make a response against the flu I there met walk down the street bump into you you give me the flu again I don't then have a massive vigorous reaction I just don't even know that I I bumped into you with flu because I knew the lies that the minute I see it and that's what was going. On I would do that his very sound idea. Very soon but your patients where you do very much. To calm it smart in Cambridge have you noticed with tonight last week hardly a single male caller to remember and I say Chris that's it female callers in a role in this being roughly the same there are. I wasn't counting but you know you're right actually we we haven't had a lady ring up for a bit so it's not like. I said 964 governor. Is that not politically correct to say I'm going to I think it's fine if it's just old fashioned It's just when you didn't say we had those gentle men running in you know when you could have another lady could ring in. If a woman would like to reach. You just be a part and I said this is a scandal. 590961308085909693 . I get in trouble for a not because we obviously get so many calls and I get through so much. Ok someone's asked no judgment just going to ask it that hard during Jackson it's a boy 1214 hours later I'm not recommending I'm not doing anything I'm just saying they've asked they want to have a smoke if you know what I mean can you do that. I wouldn't advise it but then my job is is a doctor to provide prevent ill health but as far as I know there's no contraindication between people smoking and the efficacy of these vaccines they work no no no I don't mean that I mean and you know how can you say there's no you know and I'm just you know there's no there's no. I don't think that there would be a problem all right thank you but if somebody answer all questions you know a lot of people and you know if you know you can give that advice I see it as a health issue so well you know I mean this is one question came in from Mary Jane dooby from God We answer. Let's come. Back in Birmingham how you did. That was a great because your term there who show. It just when we always a thing we always there's always a few moments right this which is why I want to say that people are really enjoyed this phone and about a global pandemic they go hiking enjoy and I to know it's just as a community to Makes me you know I think it's it is good to talk about it. I acknowledge is good for your mental health but I also think it's nice that really laugh along when they're well on I'm proud he said that because I was as I was writing to speak to us just thinking when we. Make out I think somebody needs to sort out something out so that Chris can still be honest. I have an idea of an idea for a wedding state because obviously we're launching the show for proper in May You know because it was the weirdest show after because it was like it fell in and we 1st saw him and then we just stayed on then all of a sudden issue exists but and then we took the Thursday so it'll be sort of All week day show was saying and so a 2nd a something like the midnight magic on a Wednesday you know because I think even when covert is gone I want to be better I want to be better to the knowledge of where we are looking forward to what's happening and what were the research has taken isn't you know Booster injections but also where we are with the problems that we're going to have going forward of this happening again you know Larry effort ability that this is not our last global pandemic and what do we do about it to stop standards and one place in the world calls in the rest the world to cry and to halt all or what do we need to do to. You know as well I think the so many good things to talk about so it's a good point Mark so as long as the really really good. I question is I'm having my 1st vaccine on Saturday. And it was a question of what sorts of things I might look out for in terms of reaction. You know what you know what you know a car I know I don't want one I haven't got a clue why I called I just happened to cool my theory on. Tuesday or whatever it was and just to say and I said oh yeah economic something and you can have it they said that I thought. So because the constellations I'm going out there said for Chris to talk to you about up but also talk is it just because we more asked Seneca that I'm here in a more side effects from not the bad way by the way can I just make that clear not in a bad way just people in my circle of the know like make Cheryl today it works in the show she was brilliant and she said she's she's had the Astra Zeneca wee bit of a tab but she flew the she's wet the bed a bit early I'm not I think that's a good thing right because you've got there it's in your body it's you've got that reaction you know it's connect and then she's wet the bed should be good in the morning. So but I've heard more by Astra Zeneca side effects and I have Pfizer but it's not just anecdotal. It's probably true I don't know the answer to this I haven't seen any any published data on side effect profiles one versus the other all I know is that either can cause side effects or vaccines all drugs have side effects to some degree and they range from a sore arm because you've had an injection in it to people saying they felt frankly you know quite shivery and a bit fluey but it was transients my mum wrote to me and said that she had had the Astra Zeneca vaccine and ended up feeding shivery and out of sorts went to bed woke up next day fine so it does seem to be producing those sorts of symptoms in some people but certainly they're not sort of life changing and an awful and intolerable and they they do pass on people saying they pop a paracetamol or something and then they feel much better but but certainly this is not everybody it tends to be a small minority of people I quizzed some of the other doctors I work with at the hospital and I'd say about one in 5 of them have had some side effects or symptoms of the vaccines that they received and they ranged in severity from very trivial to feeding a bit more flu and whatever bit out of sorts for a day and then back to normal so I think it really varies from one person to the next. And so rarely had such force I suppose from our point of view Mark just you know nothing really are like a knife or is there you're just going to have to get at a you but worried about it Markie you just actually are I'm actually not worried at all but it's just a case of I think I've actually only person or you know. Who people that I had Roxy now and one of basically said to me I didn't really notice anything they just carried on and my dad had it last week and obviously he is quite a bit out of annoyed all this like. He was I mean I guess he was ill but he was quite sleep. He for a couple of days after he was not you know sort of it didn't really come out as it were for a couple of that you. Know I think I think you know I think it's because we're focused right so we've never ever done this there's never been a phone in before that there's never been constant Rhonda clock attention paid to high we respond to a boxing So for example in a smaller group I've done a few things in Kenya which involved you know getting injections to go and then there's one just to get repeated every couple years and you know within a group it's well some people get the sweats the malaria tablets give some people the 2 bulbs other people feel a bit sick and still make other people are fine right I just think it's Chris it's not isn't it it's just we're paying attention to something that they use really normal but the OS is a bit novel now you know the really what the reports are well what you said back Ali and I mean that like myself I've had most of the vaccines that you can have those travel and things I've had like. 3 be no least effort that you can they fight you know that I've not really had any you know particular side effects of worried me at all but obviously the she's near to whatever out you know so it was just while you were here I thought well I would ask your doctor a question and you get one of those friendly voices Mark so you can come any time saying you so much how we're not yeah thank you very much take care of it thank you but we're going to do 3 callers and it's funny the 3rd caller we're going to do is connected to Emmy and that's interesting because also the text of an Emmy so that we tie those and they get you 3 press and we're on the clock nice all but 3 minutes of call and then we'll just text to finish tell Altaf is joined us from Birmingham bombing and he might be around the corner for a mark to Mitt. Story going on we've got sort of to apologize no no don't worry I didn't apologize at all but I was going to cut you off like good in your hoarse voice not when it's actually I don't let me tell the so called You are clueless you are cool let me tell you something it says here Altaf in Birmingham then. Producer Paul things that I'm a mug. Broadford Oz and I've caught him doing it because I was looking at it as it changed the name what was going to day as he was going to say in my ear Oh you've got that wrong call you've read out wrong that's what he was trying the day and he's get caught was pon Stein and so heads will roll Altaf heads will. Really go short. Yeah I know I've enjoyed see what he wanted to express about I don't even realize you're better off commoner quick question so what part of Oxy to do your mama swallow. Dog Abbasi York is he not recall dog all phone call off because he told a surprising quite I don't know if I did circuit told all straight people that call the. Usual ball we cannot go it or 12000000000 people will do or not in the box but the whole search today was full of people. So it's already called information give us you know who you know well there's a great piece to be done on this again so we did a whole lot on it the other week but I want to show them what you're talking about but it was interesting we looked at all the different things that connects and trusting government was one of the things we talked about a lot we talked about chance lation and the language is very very quickly because everyone gets your calls but in the United States of America you don't take in the vaccine is not based on ethnicity it's based on voting there is a much higher amount of Democrat voters and Democratic voters of course 80 Well depends on the election but anywhere between 80 and 88 percent was 88 percent 4 years ago. 88 percent and 2016 it was 80 something. Again this time of African-American voters vote Democrat so it was actually there's more people get the vaccine and are that are Democrat voters and Republican and again I just want to again trust in government traditionally the Republican Party is about smaller government self-determination right the Carnegie arms except except So I guess fasten it then and I think that government chose to shoot anyway sawing it he'll go a graphical request your phone talk to correct course yes so I tested positive in November and I had absolutely no last week of the toll on your mind other Vokoun of all we can often go on the news just because it's likely it's a cuckoo there's off towards Burgess of a concern so my question to Dr Chrissy if you do test positive and you've got a vaccine that could be also. Well before sorry. Did I ask if you still remain of the vaccine. When you say you test positive do you mean as in you had a p.c.r. Test that then what you want right now. Yeah yeah. Yeah you're right. Ok I'm with you boxing for just the test of 9 years if if you catch the virus it's down to your own immune system to solve the problem and having a vaccine at that point is a bit lice lambing the stable door after the horse has bolted Unfortunately off it was like a huge amount of difference to the outcome vaccines work best as preventatives they are they are there to prevent infection in the 1st place they are only rarely very useful under certain circumstances and we mentioned them earlier in the program for things I had to tie up to some rabies a few examples like that when you can actually use them to prevent the full force of an infection but those examples of rare and in the case of the corona virus the incubation period is so short unlike you know 6 weeks tests or 6 years for rabies that you just don't have time for the vaccine to do anything before the virus is already doing what the vaccine would be doing and so as a result it doesn't offend you. It's not something. That's what we're here for my friend Happy Days take our right to female callers after having the was like a runaway examiner it like last week it was the opposite wasn't Sharon's and their greatest set in the world how did. Sharon I don't know how are you yeah I'm good are you all right I'm going to have. Kind of a 2 questions for Dr Chris Riley and you know her question and I don't know the answer to this but. Maybe he can kind of you know get a little more detail I am extremely concerned that. England is the only country choosing to extend the dosing between from 3 weeks to 12 which is going against all the science and all the trial data from the journal and Pfizer and I'm choosing to give one dose of the whole problem the fat from what I'm hearing from other scientists say that they don't really know what ethical to say one dose has I mean like there's no sort of speculation since it's it's if percentage not percentage but the thing is that they don't know. And my concern is that you know also if they I want to be fully vaccinated and fully protected and I know they have said that we know during this is because you know they want to make sure that everybody has some declared protection and because of the shortage of faxing but other countries are also facing the same problems but know what the country situation to actually cut corners and up you know I listen to over or just on the knee the other night he was actually calling for the government to do an urgent review of this because he said has been based on flawed modeling as opposed to the science. And to say the 2nd part of the question is that. Is this just a temporary thing and make the government out of. C.b.i. Decide next year to actually follow the science and administer dosing. In that short 3 way to off 4 week cycle as recommended by the manufacturers or deafeningly get to the booster will happen not that's for sure we'll be on for the 3rd one sure that's going to happen we're going to be going round again all day on not a note Dr Chris told me through the science the evidence that we are at the moment in terms of waiting between boxing. Hi Sharon the thing to bear in mind with this is that these are brand new vaccines and the only reason that they chose the dosing regimen of 4 weeks between the 1st dose and the 2nd is because they wanted to get the data out quick so they could work out whether it worked if they'd chosen 12 weeks then we would still be waiting for the data now but that would become the gold standard that we used instead of 4 weeks so although you're right that there isn't a trial that has shown the efficacy data for 12 weeks as opposed to the weeks between dosages there is nevertheless indirect evidence that this is a sound route to take because Astra Zeneca trial has inadvertently looked at this and found that with more time between doses the response was more robust and so it is not unreasonable to suspect that you might with Pfizer's vaccine which broadly ends up working the same way once it's in the body you might end up with an even better response by waiting a bit longer between doses than if you put them closer together the only exception to this is that we are assuming that one size fits all and of course the population isn't one size fits all there are young people and they're older people and what we don't know and what we need to find out is if older people may benefit more from doses close together younger people may benefit more from doses farther apart so that's the learning point at the moment the people are actively pursuing but I would watch what other countries do because I think other countries will follow our lead and I think that they too will do what we've done and they will ultimately change the dosing regimen to reach that happy medium that means that you don't end up having to pack everyone in too close together in terms of dosing regimens because you'll get more response. The longer lasting with the bigger gap between them but as a say we may have to refine that differently for different sectors of society because older people may need a closer dosing regimen but we don't have all the numbers in the data yet to know for sure but we will share an emotion in not going anywhere with the coronavirus call in for a few weeks yet at least and I think we're going to want to hear is well yes sort of towards in the March when fingers crossed we get towards that April 1st and maybe things be relaxed a lot more and move a lot lot of data to process and Dol be part of a challenge so please do run up again thank you so much for your call on our final call to my screen of us call and it went so quick I always fail to very happy that we devote of those 3 hours but Delta but we don't get to Alison in London I'm going to read a text Elida Connex and Chris can do both at the same time my mom's going to me what faxing research has been done on people. And is it safer to take the vaccine when there's so little research in the m.e. An alley and know you want to talk about me as well so perfect well in the find life Oh thank you thank you for taking my call my situation if I had meningitis along with the 5 years ago. And her feel so stress my mother was dying at the time I kind of overdid it quite badly and I have me ever since and I managed to cope with a marker and a progress although with quite a rebellious teenage son time I was 50 and I kind of had a complete emotional breakdown from pushing myself. A lot higher discovered than when I decided to take an antidepressant without the time of Prozac and I really did go a bit crazy for Obama 3 months and it took me about 6 months to recover I stopped taking it. I managed to work around me although it's very very isolating him quite modern. But I've learned to work around it on cope with the limits to put upon me. I don't know the last Harper I'd really hard enough of helping and I'm living through my computer. And I decided to call one of my doctors but not my main doctor who understands and sorry that my coldness no sometimes Ok some and then on a very lucid comes you know. Connect all the dots and I'm Ok but when my coke mission is out everything is very basic and monosyllabic and I don't take things and but I didn't speak to that though I spoke to another one I went on the call to not sustain which absolutely blew me away for about a month I didn't know what I was doing my adrenaline was I was just and rage for no particular reason and then the biggest downers ever so I stopped taking it and I did the wrong thing because it said on the leaf I should. Come off it slowly but with covert I thought no doctor is going to check me out 2 times a day on this and I went cold turkey didn't sleep for 2 nights and wind up having to keep A's in 6 months which is almost blind to me so I can't use my computer I hope to contract pneumonia and didn't know I had it because when I was phoned to look for team I was so ill it was a place I didn't know was going on with it so I'm only in on. Doxycycline which is what for about 8 months I had to a long abscess so today is the 1st step in. I've been to everything accept blood center of inhalant for a week and today I feel really good however. Good to talk to so I find I trust because they know me and 5 have said when you have that job with Amie you're going to feel very ill and well Allie I just got up and just dropping Chris and snuggly being rude it's just it's all emitted times only when you get a minute the show left not to hit them not to be able to give you an answer non maybe we can talk about after 1 o'clock we can keep you on and so call fair but Chris for everyone else been through a hell of a lot with chronic Emmy What's your vaccine advice to Ellen then we'll have a chat to her one stopped and picked up we can chatter off air to finish. Yes Hello Ali The answer is that as early speculates there hasn't been a trial done specifically on people with me and therefore it's very difficult to say this is what will happen in people with a me if they have this vaccine My instinct tells me that actually they would be fine because these are not live vaccines they don't have any kind of impact apart from to introduce your immune system to a corona virus looks like and for that reason I think you'll be much safer to have the vaccine than to not have the vaccine but obviously that is not a replacement for a conversation with someone who's much more familiar with your personal past medical history and may know something that I don't stay there I will tell you just the other side I'll get you on to. A bio and then we'll go from there hi Dalton I call it how you and I are going to do you know a lot and really appreciate it you know tonight we're going to be talking mugs of the things now that we've landed on Mars whether this was the greatest step ever for bank wave we've landed on the broiler way you're. Not allowed in the Mars and you said we've landed Mars on Bali longer believable medically you were doing the research. B.b.c. Radio 5 Live. B.b.c. As you probably know less than 50 percent of attempted stop landings on Mars have been successful to this state and this is the most complicated and difficult landing ever attempted and everyone is overjoyed that it was successful not down restrictions in. Dot co dot u.k. So what we are joke about 1st of all your country needs you yes. No no not the Lord Kitchener No the Lord Kitchener business your country needs you or more importantly it needs your cash if you've got any spare Would you be willing to lend the government money from your savings over 80085909693 would you be prepared to lend the government your cash if you got any from your savings if you got any available cash would you lend it to the government and if not why not 08085909693. Again with the government not this particular government any government throughout history any British governments throughout history I want to hear from you but sickly ladies yes yes this is for you what's the government policy. That most. You that is so anti women oh there's been tossed where you think they didn't even consider women men they passed this is it one policy for this can go back 200 years if you want. The one policy Wade seemed the men in the past it and it generally is their face it didn't even consider the women of this country when they passed that policy 808-590-9693. I also want to hear from you on how alike you are your parents are not alike as a case may be have you turned out like your mom and dad or would you say the event up a completely different person from your mom and dad. They're kind of talking the children of the revolution that's you and me. How how like your mom and dad are you 808-590-9693 yes yes we unite us mankind and womankind as well have landed on Mars. I'm asking you was this the great this step. The hugest leap Well if you can describe it. For mankind ever. 808-590-9693 or does that does that accolade still belong to 969 Apollo 11 Neil Armstrong man on the moon. What is the greatest. Achievement of mankind ever I'm thinking in space exploration but you can take it further than that if you were 885909693 those dates of his aren't soaked to you about your country needs you would you lend the government money or so what's the policy the didn't even consider women of old Sime the worse when the didn't even consider 50 percent of the population and not let your mum and dad and is the greatest step pull the hugest leap for mankind ever 885909693 let's talk about those subjects one it's our time foot tonight's night club 1st of all mother's. Day. this NASA spacecraft that left 7 months ago it's now landed safely on Mars it's an amazing journey nearly half a 1000000000 kilometers later it's an incredible achievement and this is the perseverance rover very cool that landed on the dried up remains of an ancient lake so that we can understand what happened on Mars if there is life on Mars a question that everybody was asking me over and over again and I lost king think about it 7 months of a space journey Hough a 1000000000 kilometers to an atmosphere that we couldn't even imagine how to land on but somehow the scientists have achieved that us I'm asking is vis a vis the greatest ever leap for mankind all was in this. Forum. For man. Violent. Cause Neil Armstrong One small step for man one giant leap for mankind isn't going to Maz an even greater leap for mankind 08085909693 Talk to me about that which do you say is the greater achievement Maz or man on the missing chemical Let's talk about that one also we're asking about whether you would lend money to the government yet it's not the way it works is it except in times of crises like wartime. 08085909693 we've been through something of a crisis in the last year and some people would compare it to a war and the Labor leader says they would introduce a British recovery bond to help pay for infrastructure spending after the pandemic so this is a bone and it's basically used lending money to the government via a bond I've been speaking to Dr Miata fambly late he's the chief economist of the new car Economics Foundation and I asked her if secure Starmer was harking back to an area in which we're drawing on the national spirit Well I think that's exactly what that he's trying to tap into I think it's that sense you know one of the things that we have seen in the pandemic is that sense solidarity that sense of need to listen people looking out for their neighbors looking out for their community and it's trying to get back to that sense that we can all club together in order to be part of the effort to renew the country I mean the key thing that has changed is that interest rates often on really low and in truth you know the government can borrow from the bond markets international markets at 0 percent interest rates and that's it negative interest rates so there are other mechanisms by which you could get the money in order to do this and probably did it cheaper but this is about just more than just unlocking capital it is about people having a stake in the country that you're quite trying to create and everyone feeling like they can and they want to do their part in that program from the shore and he'll do you feel like the you want to do your part when your country needs you do you feel but you want to do your part would you blend the government money if you had it if you had the money if you had to spare change if you had some savings would you lend the government money $80.00. 85909693 that seems like a fair question to me however our next question may affect the way that you answer that one maybe they're connected maybe they're not you know the government policies cheering this pandemic seem to completely disadvantage women why is that this is M.P.'s who say that ministers have failed to consider the ways in which for school closures and working from home disadvantage women and a report by the women any qualities Committee says the jury in the pandemic women did the lion's share of housework and childcare no surprise there perhaps but they also were more likely to lose their jobs or to be refused further so after the government spends billions and billions and billions of pounds to support families to support us all during this pandemic it appears that their policies are disadvantage and women. Your reaction to that plays 88599693 Do you agree with that. And also are you surprised by that and finally what is the worst measure that a government any government not necessarily this one has ever produced in your view that seems to completely ignore the fact that women are part of the calculations. Completely ignore the fact that there are women in this world 08085909693 so come out that I would pull any punches but I need to get your experience of this. And also. Cut way for this one how much are you the product of your parents 088-5996 Doreen 30 in life look this this story has been this question has been inspired by the story of a climate change activist who you might have read that there's this been this protest against h s 2. Under used in station in London where h s 2 will start from and the 16 year old's protester was carried out on his friendship after spending 20 days on the ground and it turns out that he is the son of the most famous I think climate change activist in the u.k. Swampy 2 members from 3. This isn't. Some very unlike the father in that respect I'm not saying entirely but I want you to tell me how much like your parents you now are you just like them or very different from them and why do you think that is either way over 85909693 so I remind of all the topics on the night club tonight we're talking about your country needs you would you lend it cash what's the government policy that didn't even consider women . Like your mom and dads and moms over the moon which is the great says leap for mankind David in South Pole is with us in a David all year low how I think I'm very well thank you to tell your name don't worry you dive either the early Oh yes come on solve. Be out even if. It was. A fool you could speak French off don't ask me any questions I've said the one phrase in French I can say without. Speaking French you know like a Saxon That's funny it does sound like French when I hear. Your closer friends and I am good for you crazy stuff let's talk about savings then do you have savings 1st of all. I have about 52 pence in a bank account with an x. a 1000 pounds Never mind the 1000 pounds 50 pence if the government needed it would he would you lend it to them. This is going to be one of the major issues of our generation we have burdened students with enormous amounts of debt and the cove it situation has meant that the whole economy is turned upside down and we are all going to have to call tributes in our own different ways nobody should be compelled to contribute but many many people are now saying look at the younger generation we need to really help them out and if you've got money I mean it's the moment dad's bank account isn't it moment take care of children I've got no children that for my $59.00 pence plus 1000 pounds where's that going to go. The whole economic system the whole system of banking and commerce and trade has been turned upside down by coded and we need to start thinking serious business about how we are going to recompense the generation that starved of resources as well put when arguably it sounds like you know you've thought about this which is great which is great but I'm not just a few about is well i'm so. I lend the government money every day by picking up on some of the things that the government isn't doing I lend the government money. If you drive a car you put petrol in your car and the government needs to do something about cleaning up the environment. They don't need us it's a lemon they just take it basically by driving a car lend the government money by buying food said Trimble the very See I'm lending the government money we get tax incentive many way he's Why should we Sarah a sleazy be taxed again by being feeding obliged to lend the government money. Well I don't think we should sail obliged to lend the government money taxation is a compulsory Saint defined in law I mean you've got council tax you've got your income tax you've got corporation tax a laser defined in law and the rule of law says that you have to obey the law but if you want to dogs outside the law you can as are a good tax accountant. I don't need that but thank you I've got as much money my savings is you I think the council would take my 56 pence and tell me thank you very much what I live for must David life on Mars than greatest achievement ever in terms of landing a space rover on to the surface of Mars or was landing on the moon many stepping on the Moon Well they haven't revealed yet that there is sound lots of little man running around in little Not because some of. That was what I was expecting it's going to. Give them time they will find and they're there somewhere. And the thing is they may even find God on Mars he might be running a bad breakfast on Mars for all we know God could be out there all Moslem we've been looking for him for a long thought him some people have been looking for him Sorry him oh yeah it could be a head well I mean if God all you know a God of non-determinism that area well. Terry l. Now you said Mrs God Is she married. An. Interesting what do you call the husband of God that you know if you see remember well I mean look at her majesty the queen she's got the Duke of Edinburgh the chief about him or it's been a great model of a great man is O'Reilly but she's her majesty the queen is your cult you know only that she has. Not just the Queen I love your thinking I love your thinking David and thank you very much you're absolutely right I cannot deny that she is her majesty the queen and. Consult as it were not even King but Prince Hugo a good point. Thank you for that Ok 2 points that David made 1st of all we should if we can lend money to the government for the next generation that's why we should do it and it should be a kind of a civic duty I get the sense is David in South vote is saying do you agree with the government needs money as it does now from the pandemic we should be lending the money to the government through a system of bones upon scheme. Not the w 7 bones scheme but a system of bones as they had in the war years would you lend the government money 08085909693 What would your concerns be in lending the gov the money because of course they can use it any way they want what would your concerns be and also allow for most gracious achievement yet David again saying that until they find something some life own laws Congress could have the greatest achievement. Tony Wimbledon Good morning good morning thoughts on how you very well think about it is that Teddy Wimbledon I know that's right. Now ladies and gentlemen we have is very to tell you would we haven't heard from him in well since I was sure jazz is certainly . I'm Ok I'm all right. Unchallenged but we haven't 1st. Of course absolutely. I will say to those people. On the night club who don't know Tony Wimbledon that he is going to give us wisdom wisdom is Tony's middle name as far as I'm concerned it's yet no always always for the wisdom so you want to talk about lending the government money yes or no. If I think in principle if it's not an early night there I mean the government raises money Treasury bonds and they respond and things like that. It's something it's something certainly good no more that way out of the e.u. I think it's something that could be like a bit of a rallying call for the country as a whole of citizens of the country but the key thing is an investment so you want to know that the return even to get to the least is possible and you know you need to know what I believe the money's to how it's going to be utilized just like any other investment but in principle. I think it's the key question how will the money be utilized What would you like to see given the pandemic that this is pandemic David to Southport to go saying it should be spent on the next generation what would you like to see the money that you would lend to the government be useful right I think the real challenge is that all there is obviously as a country. We have a number of challenges facing something covert is one thing which I think we're coming out of gradually all the better for. I think there's a many elements of infrastructure there's a lot of things in terms of like the education system of call or concerns with the fact that students have vast amounts of debt. To actually go through and get educated so I'd like to think that what the some of that money could be used to do is to perhaps instill in areas where the banks are perhaps of pulled away from I know that I've done a lot of lending recently but I saw a headline that one of the banks just looking like potentially 40 percent of the money they've lent out through the veil risk loans schemes that have been there they don't necessarily see them getting that money back but then obviously that's been on the written by the state but I think there's a lot of situations where piece youngsters and people generally trying to do business and trying to foster such pressure by mortgages things like that they may not necessarily be able to meet the criteria of the commercial lenders will perhaps step could be a neighbor with the government could step in and done with the same sort of money that's raised from the bonds to do things right and then for them to actually have government the state the civil servants to administer that as well you're the perfect person to ask this question you know attorney you are the absolute perfect person because of what I know of you you know we've never met not we've we did meet once actually when you have a studio included Absolutely but from what I know of you both You're a businessman with a per few business my son's business I help him with that sort of thing but also you know your you your chauffeur as well by day is the way you had was that when when the people can come back. The question you see this is really interesting here is you've got a foot in both camps of the employment. Issues around Covidien both as. A chauffeur identify yourself employed as a chauffeur you work as part of a business but. Yes be enormous one and an employee but also on the other hand kind of a business owners such as where where is the great said need Where would you wish should the government. Invest in the money the you lend the government should it invest in businesses which have struggled over this pandemic as you know many businesses have gone under Oh it's still teetering on the verge of going and all should they invest your money which is not in it is limited should they invest your money in making sure that people are employed in a lot of people have lost their jobs during this pandemic where should they spend your money it's got to be a balance between the $2.00 if that's the area the money's going to be coming into because I think prior to dealing with now which is a unique set of circumstances that from themselves up but we have had certainly since the banking crisis we've seen clearly that the banks of decided to concentrate more on where they feel the safer bet is for themselves which is perhaps more in terms of trade in themselves or dealing with lot of concerns with I feel that their money perhaps is less arrest risk free that has led to a lot of problems for businesses prior to this and that is an area that I think the government will be brilliant to see then not follow exactly what I see in other countries but I've always said to countries as we're paying attention to is Germany with the whole Middle East and system that they have small and medium sized private businesses which sometimes become quite large businesses with very specialized areas and looked. Japan as well who upright a similar system of that both countries. Have excelled despite not severally having the best of times the best come to conditions having to resort says or even to the Nationwide of the global reach and I think that's something that they need definite to even look at because obviously often the big p l c s we know we've seen a few of them hit the buffers recently but it's a more nail with a lot more advantages in terms of being able to raise capital and last a casing that you sort of need in business and also have been in a severe recognition that the returns that you're expecting back don't necessarily come in a straight line curve and business from what I can see is we've had a long period of time in this country where you know the business of a lot of people know in business always looking to try and extract the money quickly and we need to get back into a mode of reinvesting reinvest in. And putting away for the rainy day which is what I do believe a good business should do I mean I was a great admirer of mood Weinstock when fogey c. And g. Ceased to get criticized in the seventy's in the eighty's for having a cash mountains and what was a 1000000000 pounds from each month which might not seem a lot but that sort of conservative type of business management way you knew literally. Put a few pennies put them in the jar for them rainy day and keep that process going to end the day rather than to sort of think right of extract it x. I'm out of money out of business I'm going to buy myself you know some mega mansion with the latest sort of like you know sort of car what it will whatever is I'm going to go from the bike are going for most. Of you have seen Rob here and so does keep that money aside for a day sad day in Hackney you had my say your middle name is wisdom there a lot of questions come for you Sandy and how you say you know if going to the moon gave us nonstick frying pans what can we expect from going to Mom's any ideas omnes and oversee the technology that's going to come out of what is being done there I remember seeing things like you know of the Polaroid Google Glass of some glasses which came out of the on the moon exhibitions of the moon expeditions but I think the technology of it is one aspect of it but I tend to so look at that once again tends to be deployed for the big corporations I think the real challenge is is what we can in a fight within this country from smaller businesses that we can then take and then move out across the rest of the world in terms of products and stuff like that so I know the moon achievement and the travel in the space is something that grew out of it grips us but I don't necessarily look upon that as being the biggest Soloman may on the Cheeseman of disrespect you saw a program on what I consider to be the 3 of them are going titans of business on being Henry full of devil one the highest are from the tiles and from Korea tire companies and Thomas Edison so I often look upon the world of man's greatest achievement as being harnessing of electricity because we take it for granted but in reality tricity has done so many things for us and I'm a great admirer of like the history of British business and I look at George Armstrong who built up a company called Armstrong Vickers which is now with tracks of. Now ended up being part of British Aerospace men like that what they did at that time people might Carnegie with steel. You sort of say that well they brought along unfortunately when you look like a my old Armstrong you can still see the property that he built up to the man you can also call crack site that was the 1st property of domestic property in this country to have. Lights or electric light Tell me Annie I know it's been such a long time since. You forgot the obligation to have to go to the news and a half pass which is fine this is a welcome back to you frog me because now as Shakespeare would say now exists not only now I value what vowel but art as well as by nature for this drilling love is like a great natural that runs lolling up and down just to hide its bubble in a house 8085 Tony thank you 08085909693 is a number it's a course you'd like to join in its ranks of wisdom as well into the mix tonight it's 134. Sounds up b.b.c. Radio 5 Live feel place in the u.k. Hilton I do buy a listen I believe in December with the b.b.c. Sounds. Good my Bushman Good morning of this is the night club as you know the nuggets of gold is 885909693 let's have a conversation every call tells a story we're asking you this morning whether you would be prepared to lend your country money. If it needs it the Count the government needs your money to where near you know where up that creek without a paddle and if you got some savings would you lend it to the government over 808-590-9693. And what would the caviar at be what would the criteria for your lending be would you demand that they spend the money on for example 80859 or $993.00 which strains would you attach a lead in the government money yeah and should we all lend the government money if we had it or not also. Want to hear from you and ladies you know I mean you know what we're trying to make this world a fair replace a living gutsy daughters skin in this game. One of my daughters came back from university today I was up on the roof building the extension of the bottom of the garden you know as I've been trying to do not down I told myself completely key Maje me never done a d.i.y. Before and I'm building an excess actually building a building essentially and I'm up on the roof and then I hear this voice I've got the headphones on listen to my music and this was I look right it's what daughter and honestly generally I wanted to jump off the roof and kiss and hug came down from university to see how we were which is very nice diverse and I asked her I asked her if it was legal and she said yeah yeah yeah that the question but anyway the point I wanted to make was the government policy that didn't even consider women which of the many policies and the might be less a lot of policies that been passed by successive governments not simply this one didn't even consider women which is the worst of them is that but we're putting it because they'll be lurching loads and loads and loads which is the worst policy that didn't even consider women in your view 808-590-9693 also if you turn out your mum and dad if you haven't hear from me how like your mum and dad can you baby. Oh have eaten out your moment dad if you haven't only hear from you because why didn't you turn out like your mom and dad and we've now landed on Mars is that the greatest ever achievement for that kind even greater than the moon landing in 96 you 908085909693 Mars or the mood and yeah I get the joke I get the joke Bill in East Sussex says the only Mars I'm interested in is when the Arabs who were arrest him play not sure if it does but if he says he says Brian from Wells says what ways are time and money space exploration is man went to the moon in 1909 what they've done since so it saved nothing anger and you know we got nonstick frying pans out of it may and you say nothing is a huge deal only a load of conspiracy did we go or not when a u.f.o. Supposedly. Supportability spotted it's always by now you've lost me because in language but you do end your email by saying Capricorn one great movie if anybody seen that Will this Mars landing be another Capricorn one Yeah the funny thing a capital one this now would have a law I saw overseas. And. We have a space of Godzilla sorts of Mars they have really gone some hours because there's been budget cuts at NASA so they just go into some kind of like Hollywood cloths and you know recreated Mars as it were and then the president said you know you're on the universe being done you know and then they said you know you wives ahead you know you told your words and he says to the wives keep make you snappy You know as long distance and look this is compensation I was rooting out the fear I couldn't hold it in I literally rolled out. Off of my head off it was funny actually so we took that space exploration and chancing But you know you want to talk about that will come to market canary Wolf in about an o.t. Chairs Good morning. A lot of us yeah very well thank you very much what you make of all these space missions a fan or not. Well I think we have found that you know they've. A great achievement and to the main a mountain takes time to change them and then as events and I said all this out on the program and were taken off technology to follow such just. You know it's 2021 now and. The end of today on our own planet I mean there's a frenzy this League of Women Still Can't go to mosques what they're going to find thinking of ever going to find the. Can bring it back in 10 years to lots of times context to get back to show of all time photos back to dry rock him for even if they've found. A molecule I mean. What's he going to. Whisper to me ask some. Crazy Town special intelligence and I mean must a future look unfair to techno technological prowess it just seems like. Since I was shocked when the effect from Sony to some agency says. Between most can get all of it away space agencies and maps that are and have. Some point to question to you it's a bit of a car nonsense the questions are don't know what the point is but I'd supposing NASA says and I'm just putting forward their argument would be you know we're going to Mas because we're trying to find the all region of mankind how we go ahead how we got to be here and what was going on a 1000000000 years ago because mom's is on this ball planet unspoiled by human hands so we might find clues as to what we are on Mars. As if you see what I mean if they said that and we understood you know how the origins of men as it were more specifically than Charles Darwin as explained or if you you know believe in the Bible most specifically then Genesis is explained if they found if they were able to find something about the origins of man kind of life would that they were. Have a small I wouldn't look very small. Stroke to find the ancestor if scientists are looking for lots. Of planets there's no life yeah thank you nobody has avoided it and yet we haven't really found that so I'm just saying if they found a mas chance if they found the key to life on Mars to life on Earth on Mars if you see what I mean if they found it would that be worth the billions they spending on this mission and not. Found. Sharon. I respect the question and you doing the job and allow me to do my job of going to pan out on parole and have behaved if they are going to. Be on the Genesis slot you enter that on that and then going to find it that you know. Enough going on. And. You know Delvin and to this subject. So you sustain even all kinds of it Dawkins and say you know. The beginning of time of the big bang and all all up a lot of. Us don't want to solve about me wearing a quizzical creatures out way will me a cat. We can be a Mickey Mouse. In the South Pacific in the deepest of all shouldn't. Haven't even explored yet as opposed to spending billions going to Mom's. And we need. Some you know and. As you mentioned here it's soft it is a testament to people I can together in technology able this planet I've got a lot more going on with the show intelligence and I mean you know I'm not sure if you're into that oh yeah I mean I mean sort of the conversation I love you you are proposing Chaz because you we can be as fences we want with our questions but the on this is they tend everything you know gotta find a reason life among those that comes to the chase and I hope nicely was listening as they tried to compare the Mia cats if you know what I mean as many thanks we got monkeying canary Wolf with us. I thought was so we said we're down to everything. That's a fictional And so as you well know because it's everything but you know if you spend billions you want more than just a fictional answer although sometimes you spend billions just to get you know as you would know if you read science fiction often enough the side fiction guys predicted Isaac Asimov and these predicted all these things you've got often done years before and you just think kind of and yeah it's been my job and so but I kept calm on c.s. It's a great it's the biggest thing that sticks in my mind is that that was a daze and I since obviously have. Forgot about that I think. Of course the prime minister brought a reference to Jay with the glove the other day and you know let's not forget that . He's a murderer a convicted murderer and a rethink of actions that he did I mean that's long gone but I've totally forgot about that I wonder can you show that movie again you know like we went through all these things of sanitizing programs because of people who had done unspeakable things in the program Kevin Spacey most famously House of Cards Sonny expunge from that totally shows movies again and programs again Center can you still show kept a cool one do you think well I mean I'm not I'm not going I know that censorship stuff I suppose the more interesting question was could could somebody watch it and get this it kept the same it was very good film but could you watch it back now without constantly thinking that's r.j. Simpson if you get what I mean that is not that it's not like yeah I'm not sure whether that it wouldn't be as spies if you knew nothing about it and then it would be the same as as it is I guess that you know I think you're absolutely 100 percent right Marcie not. Couldn't agree with you more the problem with all this stuff you know you can jump up and down and say well should this film company of expunge this person or not but the idea of the film is made for consumers and if the consumers can't watch it without thinking about that then it's not viable because you know you lose a sale at what the film sold about some fiber It's like when you know I interviewed . And with him and she'd written a book called Claymates history was 1st novel and I said can't can't read it without hearing your voice in the narrative and it's really off putting and you know she said yeah yeah everybody's complaining about that nothing they would do. You think oh my God I can hear it said we did it was voice you know a distinct voice there are no disrespect but that's true and that she has an interesting if you think about it that's a really interesting thing could imagine if he'd just if he just put the book on Oscar says it's going to tolerate this and then somebody got say and I. Couldn't as an Alec Guinness or somebody or times my student and I write the whole book you just listen to instead would you suddenly would you be able to mentally get past the we become effect one of about I think what you studied I go out actually nowadays it's just a judge on whether it's a good book or not if you know I mean I think the spoken word books you accept that you know this is this person Stephen Fry great reading spoken word books you expect him to be there you've already bought into that but with the reading off the page your imagination is begging to allow itself to run free and you can't the problem for a lot of authors if I was an author I would never do an interview because you think well if you do need to People can always hear your voice when you read Shakespeare you can hear his voice when you reach us because you can hear his voice when you know you read all the great sort of novels Thomas Hardy the greatest novelist in the English language you know once upon a time at least if you can stomach Jude the Obscure. You can hear it was you don't always was sounded like actually I thought I think there is evidence of Thomas Hardy's voice Having said that very early recordings when he stopped being a novelist after the backlash of Judea obscure became a poet and I think he did read some of the poaching out. On record like you can just about the recording in the English language is of Alfred Alfred Lord Tennyson reading I think it was in memoriam or whatever you know just as Thomas Edison has created this new technology and everything and then suddenly you have this Lincolnshire accident you're thinking. Now no disrespect to anybody from Lincolnshire but you know in the Morea in Lincolnshire x. And now you don't want that. Kind of avoid some films for that reason because I think if I read a book token books for example I watch the films because I think I have it in my head out I think it should be and if I watch the film I know that that will one mold so let's destroy the other stuff I said it totally makes sense but what about . Lend money to the government going back to what we're going to talk about so yeah and I got no I wouldn't have been managing certainly not now and it takes you only one he wouldn't lend money to the government you know lend it so you're given it because they want instead they want they have to see trying to increase inflation so I stop whatever you give to and you know at the back when you get it back I'm not convinced that I've been in the future anyway so I mean it's there's that there's other things you can say you know would you be patchy I can a census in a country except challenged or especially a great yes I know I'm Ok with that but when it comes to the source sayings it's just not in our comp data oddly enough a tax on church saying I I'm nothing like my parents but every day that goes by become more and more I'm a grandma but I was compelled by them so that they sort of elevates it but I always think you maybe. Even if you're more or less likely like your parents but more like your grandparents could you kind of miss that generation and the time you spend with them it's often more of a quality than the time you spend you actually care what I mean you have to do You don't think it's because you love your grandparents in a way that you don't love your parents and you know your grandparents are. Critical of you and I don't mean you know critical to negative way but parents have to be critical. Just the way that I found is even in things like that I'm not really conscious of the mannerisms and things that the people who live so that I get to see that I. Have not in my Grandfather years ago when I speak to the mail or say them on the spot and I don't they get remain. Commented on it oh your side like in here you get more you know in this way or that way and not just so I think that's. You know that's just not that's not that easy to cause otherwise you'd have it all the time go soon we'll do with us as well we want to come in on just this subject you more or less like your parents now . Not my home. My great aunt I'm gone Paul said militants who are looking to move would just say what were you what would you be more like your great new parents I want. To do you think it's because you have a certain affinity to the great own to this you have a certain affinity towards use the influence you. I have. But I think. That you know because. I feel they strongly Farnum along on my own is to get some. Of my. Most solemn promise from Apple Do you remember that Katie from when you were a kid how did that affect she did not I didn't even lie. I didn't know that you know that my great tool actually 3 years old why do you think you have become this a person who cares a lot about animal well welfare than if it doesn't come from the family where does that come from. That was when my grandfather. Had a thing. When you said. What was the greatest thing that the people of. Iowa. Want to say that the Great. It's like. A mom they discovered a close. They've not been cut like that I'm a. I'm a. Little I'm a well hardly ever talked about the steps program. It's actually nice This program is it is often thought about. Not I said in terms of animal welfare in this old political sense of it but more in terms of people's relationships of their pets in particular despite the fact that people are realizing that animals I think they've always known their animals a sense it being a sense in Bain's but they've chosen to ignore it or to overlook that in a blind eye to it just so that we can carry on eating animals to a certain extent would you agree with that but it could be some covert. Look pretty . People don't take burial place but I don't know my. Faith Yeah I know I've heard about that. Easy way to find. B.b.c. Good morning fascinating conversations we're having this warning for you can join in as well on of 808-590-9693 asking Would you trust the government I think it's an issue of trust I think mocking Canary will for a few moments ago was done is about why I wouldn't trust any money that he had to the government to lend it to the government doesn't necessarily get it back among some things but all kinds of issues around trust with the government and I think this is what the question is about you know our we view our government in this time of the pandemic the government has stretched its credit limit I think it's fair to say. And if it needed to borrow money from you would you lend the government money that's the question secure start with the Labor leader is suggesting that we should introduce some kind of like post coated bones an economic recovery bond if you like Simonson kind of war bonds that the government would issue during the 2nd World War otherwise to try and bring in revenue to borrow money from the public as it were and in terms of war once upon a time in times of war people were minded to blame the government money because they believe that the government's mission was a just one and it was one to protect the people you know came in such as are you doing the government you say now go and have some more absolutely lend as much because you're trying to protect us would you lend the government and book book what would the stipulation be from you whether you lend the government money or not in terms of the way that the money is being used o.a.o. 85909693. I think it's a really really profound issue for example if if your if you have suffered the collapse of your business. Still got some savings obviously but if you suffer the collapse of your business you might want the government to borrow money from the people you know a kingdom and you might want to lend the government money for your own savings amongst the people of you know a kingdom so the government could invest in businesses that are struggling teaching on the edge of collapse in that kind of thing and then the government says well actually no we're not going to invest in the creators of wealth the businessmen we're going to invest in the employees and the my thing wine a 2nd I've lent you money and you're not going to try and prop up my business and run that kind of thing 080859 or 9693 I'm sure there are lots of promises around this would lend the government your money also I want to know how like your parents or unlike appeared she were an important question as been brought to our attention of as a youngster trying to change activist just like his dad swampy very much active and prepared to take direct action to stop has to in this respect and I want to you know we are creatures of our parents we can't avoid the influence of our parents can we and yet some of us turn out like nothing like our parents whatsoever and you know we had seen women imaginative guy and parents were interested in animal welfare but she is how like your parents are you do you share the same views that your parents have and you become your parents over the course of time 08085909693 Talk to me about that and Jules a Mars mission to Mars landed on Mars is as big a deal as that in on the movie as big a deal as 969. On up 085-909-6930 So one more important one which is that we talk about government policies apparently the policies governments book cross over these courses pandemic have disadvantage women and that is worrying isn't it but then again you think well this is has been since you know the time immemorial that government policy disadvantages women in which case which is the most disadvantaged policy or disadvantage ing policy by any government of any era against women. 59 or 9693 you talk to me about that Jim is in Leicester and Johnnie's in Belfast Jim 1st good morning. Good morning to our very well create as Lester nowadays. Still is trying still in lockdown. It was one of the hot spots obviously and has no need to turn that around that struggle to turn that sort of around to to not be one of the hot spots in the United Kingdom or what was a struggle so much energy thing was just too many playful ignoring a restriction. I think that's the obvious answer you know what I mean those those one person from Leicester one so clearly like distrait. They donated. The mountain rescue people I'm one of the rescuers fellow only 50 made me my never walk again yeah I heard about that in fact cover that story as well actually . Gosh how do you get the message through that in that case to the people of Leicester who are not observing the rules Adji get that message across to them Well I'm enforce rules most vigorously. Only army into sport the police come the police of Leicester police Lester. Well you know I know. Police officers are on straight at the moment yeah it's quite standard strapped for cash because the last 70 measures I would them are serious. In that case would you lend the government the step for cash to pay the police with all these generally local councils were ultimately is the government would let the government money they each have if you don't think it's a good idea yeah yeah you would lend no matter what they want to do the money would you be happy with. Yes you're going to trusting a politician some tar. When they want to borrow money from the vessel trust. Me on the state pension so I'm not all deciding to show show well if. I want some money I'm upset yes it was a very wise way what difference does it make maybe some difference to us rather than the government owed to the country as it were what difference does it make when the government has this kind of relationship with the population that we're all going through difficult times would you lend us a few bob what kind of difference does it make his government could go to the banks and for a moment all the World Bank or whatever is all these private investors lend more money from them but they seem to want these secure Starman the government actually didn't disagree with it they seem to want to have a relationship with us. That were invested in the recovery as it were does it make a difference like in a war time that you're invested in the war because you've let the government money know what we're at war now we're against coverage now and saying I'm a real war those. Well. Somebody's got to me don't tell the government shit to 5. 100. I think most repute agree with you I think most people would agree with you. When you look at it is a civic duty jig to support the government yes. Can I ask another question yes. I mean how do you manage on a pension. When I manage a manager All right all right I love to eat. Cake. But you generally living from hand to mouth well from week to week week to week so one of the things that suggest Ahmed said was that. The government should extend. Its 20 pounds. Allowance to people on state benefits to extend it beyond the covert recovery day they should become permanent that would make a difference would know if Yeah it was definitely making huge difference Yeah Jim it's been a pleasure speeches Kiku me up every night you mind. I thought I'm on until I listen to most noise. I don't hear a lot tonight. Well you know when you go like the wife my correct Lord. She did you know actually. I bought it. For the job. I'm not joking. There is no way on this film my wife would sing a duet with me Jim You're very kind and she's good enough music that you can enjoy a provision. Very talented singer she is but her husband isn't is a point I'm making. Thank you I mean that's generous of you Jim really appreciate I'm going to tell you what you said and listen to this again tomorrow in p.b.c. Sounds as well she would never in for a last consumers say Jimmy Lester was no if you would do a duet with me she was love she won't stop laughing she will roll down the road laughing having to support herself and all the houses of the neighbors as she's laughing she probably won't come home till after midnight still laughing still laughing she rode a little on the road maybe you could do it and always classic together. I thought I wonder you know that's a beautiful song yeah yeah yeah yeah I could guess. But she would know anywhere near me singing and I apologise I'm not even allowed to sing I don't may hear I love to say but this is not you when she said let's all have a sing song whatever sings I'll govern the piano and have a sings of but not you that's what she would say Jim May thank you you've made me laugh at my luck but I feel off to kingdom come tomorrow promises you I will tell what you said and. Maybe other people off in this way of history Jim your judgment to really appreciate and let's talk again I'm back on Sunday night Monday morning if you like Monday morning let's talk then Johnny in Belfast. I tell them hi secret arches going what is gay well except Jimmy Lester made me laugh and the idea that my wife a talented singer would sing a duet with me can you imagine. Well just a cautionary note I signed the wonder of you to my wife on our wedding day when I divorced so that doesn't go well. Sir I should now if Charlie had to give me to live ever you give me the course should be now or I have to think. So if you paid to which So you choose that doesn't it I mean if you chose another so good use to be married well you know 1st on this was Perry caus and I love you so much the lovely still. Useful but that still doesn't work that right but know a lot of this talk about economics Ok You know I don't understand you know what's. We owe money to someone. Every other country in the world kid us Pando like lose money to someone who do it I remember Tony Karon and they are as comedian aged irritating back in 2000 at the time of the last big financial crisis but all the facts on Lost and he says. Over this money to a club just tighten them kill him on the locks hardest at work. If you're asking me. I do it we owe you money to international lenders if you like. And I'm not an expert on this but the World Bank had a new boss the other day she Nigerian woman seems to to know her economics a lot better than me and she the World Bank is one of those institutions like the International Monetary Fund that provides you know large scale funding for countries use you know of our size you know usually countries are smaller than us that need big infrastructure. Loans and stuff either but then there are all these huge private investors whether they be pension you know companies or whatever is. And they also lend monies to governments that you know sort of you know rate that I'm sure is. I'm a prophet but it's safe to lend money to most governments you know you have these credit ratings as you know and you know they say for the government you lend the money to the less interest you're going to get on the money but if you lend it to governments. You know let's have a lesser credit rating and that's about enough economics for me I don't even have a g.c.s.e. But I've done my best on that so that's who we owe it to we owe it to people who have lent his money this way did you just think of a nice bank clicked almost on say out all. The other things Thomas that they don't pay tax. Similarly very wealthy people can they can afford to pay the most should a kindness in a world. Where wealthy people are able to score also Malaya and say that I said Caroline knows. A lot of places like that where they don't pay tax at top of. They just could I live a working mother say well. Can he do it some money to the government to help get us out of this situation and just says they are on. Yeah what other system could you. Suggest that because that's why the you know the capitalist system is weird the world weather system could you suggest but I just think there's close only starkly supposedly people should pay their fair way you know a service or barracks or citizens of a country. That the lawless country should just pay their credit for share as it surely will the working model has been next to nothing and I tell you make a contribution Terry. They use the states that are self centered but. You know that pay their fair share that's it's debatable as to what their fair share should be the $1000000000.00 is going to say we're in a donut shop with say for example I pay a $1000000.00 and people think that doesn't sound like very much you're paying. About as about example Donald Trump was a table people to low ses a successful business families are successful but I wasn't really I was using I'm wrong I wasn't using him as an example I was more or less using him as an anecdote about take that away let's say a billionaire anybody is a billionaire they take a 1000000 pounds of their wealth in. Taxes is that their fish share because they're paying $1000.00 of their wealth in taxes let's say for the sake of argument. And the ordinary. Working like you and I might be paying 30 percent of our salary of 40 percent 35 where everybody 20 in some cases percent of our salary. In Texas is Al fish air when the billionaires maybe and I work for a company for 25 years as a private how many companies they take of Congress and all the time just hire they could score lower their money to pay the least amount as tight as possible but they should decide all the rules is what I'm asking you really should decide all the rules Johnny should it be you are right government and the government's deliberations are what if we tax these people too much because we can tax them 95 percent as I think the Labor Party in the 1960 s. Did under Wilson these. Wealthy people still earning much more than us but they were being taxed when. A lot of these got the people the side of the operator and go on live secularly and then like I think the Rolling Stones but it doesn't and. I think a lot of. The Rolling Stones did do that a lot of musicians did a lot of sports people didn't so on that is still going to Monaco you know loose habits and gets lost is result of that but the point I'm trying to make is the deliberations that the government have to make when they're setting tax criteria is much more is greater than the question of their fair share whatever that might be wherever that means it's not clear what their fair share is it may not be their fair share in our eyes because the government thinking we're going on their fair share they might end up sort of taking their business elsewhere elements of that there's an awful lot of fun times for us out of interest what why why has this subject come up for you because a question we're asking was about whether you would lend the government your No that was the economic question we're asking why did you fancy 10 and you're welcome to I'm not knocking it but why did you fancy bringing this issue of tax up. It was much that it was more white who enjoyed conversation that was fine with my 84 year old mother and we're just talking about the sort of situation we all find ourselves and I with code would not be able to work things are tighter than a house dating for a generation perhaps. She she just kept saying. I lived through the 2nd World War we had baldness falling off you know the jury about hotspots for size and people killed in 1941 I said you know I thought you daughter of the troubles in Belfast which last for 30 years which killed 3 and a half 1000 people and you know that this is. An invisible killer. You know. I don't know that that particularly analogy was just trying to cheer all but it's a to go quite you know to me I do know what you mean and Jimmy less a moment ago was also making that comparison was made between. The pandemic and the war I will always default always default to the wisdom of an 84 year old to you mums write your mum's write your mum's write journey Thank you appreciate it less you know any time you want to widen the conversation you know you're always welcome not just to everybody listening if you know why didn't the conversation or how the philosopher in case you couldn't tell said this do it let's do it yeah 59 or 9693 Feel free to take the questions that we are discussing literally all in a wider sense in is in double the it go on and often Good morning to you. Well it's even it's about what you said about it which do you consider that to be the most. Important thing mankind is right or was it was it was it them are you know going to Mars or on the moon or or flying. Overseas go be there and it could be Fly Me To me I mean I I would say the most important thing to mankind was a rocket going more than 30 mile an hour on the Liverpool and Manchester around like. Stephen. Hayes why. With the development of their allies and not what the Rays ration and. Before rock it why and tomorrow now all. Everyone including the Sholay scientists of the day said that nothing could go faster than the whole. After a while rocket blew that after the wall to the city and and from then on in a way mankind is only limited by. The abilities and understanding of situations. When you say that they didn't believe anything could go faster than the horse they did know that ships went faster than horses didn't they that wind power could help you go. I don't know. To the average person in the street no they mean that there were some rumors about strange creatures down in what was then referred to as the dark continent of Africa that could go you know incredible spades out there we're being told about things like cheetahs and now yeah yeah. That could go it's an incredible speed that you were a freak of nature mankind couldn't go faster than a hole that the attitude was. A course rocket as I say it blew that out the water of course him in many different ways and you know we learned about Stephen's Stephenson's rocket school once Avatar didn't have kids still do but it was a pivotal moment in the industrial revolution among some things I mean where would the railway be today if somebody would come up with a rocket as it were the sort of prototype to all the trains sinister he mentions that we had once upon a time but if if going faster than a holes is the greatest achievement of mankind it does make you feel. What was it anything you know now they've got speed limits reducing us back to the whole space there's no it's not domination not so much the going at speed that's like the saying that the system it's the fact that mankind became aware that he was limited only by his level of understanding and abilities. Says the science we're talking about yeah that's what I'm getting out. And this is science without Isaac Newton so far as physics without Isaac Newton. Of course you're absolutely right but then why stop there why not go back a couple of centuries to Copernicus while I actually. A friend who I used to have a friend who is no longer with us now. When I when we used our discussions are not nice to say about this nature as well I would agree with you in a warm and warm way. In another while I would also say that they are comedians screw was one of the great things and. Mankind has made because obviously it's improved. Sort of foreman and that and and I able to advantage further sort of you know it's about advantage meant so to saying Having said that Stephenson's rocket for us is an industrial nation this was you know a future industrial nation world's 1st industrial nation was absolutely pivotal that's what made us that's what made Britain great you know may bring great. Apart from you know good colonizing off the World Fair enough but in terms of within Britain that achievement was coming up to 200 years since says come on. I know you can you can say that and I would agree with you in one line now that I would say that it's. All of those that have made Britain great you know why. You know all of our families all of all of have relied on from you know sort of from people live prime ministers down although I say like a chap they went around in the middle of the not knocking people ought to go on shift or whatever. Yeah and let's not forget the press gangs it would not keep you from up to catch up on the ship and go to shift there and you have filled us all with national pride actually your 100 percent Can anybody disagree. And if they can they work until 85909693 in India says it's we the people all of us who've made this country great he's right isn't it all those Stephenson's rocket you know Flo give you props to Stevenson for making even greater than it would have been if we were just like getting up going to work and could come in and that kind of thing yeah. 5909693 we can talk about Great Britain's. Greatest technological achievement Yeah we can talk about that you talked about it was against the moon the great achievement or going to Mars as we've now landed on Mars or NASA has in any case we can talk about great British achievements what would it be for you 08085909693 thank you all of you have called so far as many calls we can between now and 4 o'clock. Lucas more and so on human but also on the score sheet for Tottenham and their posters a Marine who was happy to take such a big advantage into the 2nd leg I'm pleased with the result because of course for way of home gives. A good space for having possible mistake that you can make with the 2nd leg I think we have one short in in the next The result is of course very good because sack a 2nd half goal gave us in the one all draw against Benfica in Rome less a city were held to a nil nil draw against Czech champions Slavia Prague away from home in Rangers were involved in the game of the night the Scottish Premiership leaders came from $21.00 on $32.00 down to beat Roy once worked for 3 in Belgium with Born to parachute scoring twice from the penalty spot Naomi Osaka will play Jennifer Brady of the USA in the women's final at the Australian Open on Saturday the 2019 champion Asika beat Serena Williams in straight sets while Brady be competitive Jessica Pegler to reach her maiden Grand Slam final Well number one an 8 time Australian Open champion Novak Djokovic reached his 3rd consecutive final and will play either Danielle Medvedev will step on Sunday I'm ready for battle for the toughest match of the tournament without a doubt I mean both of these guys are in great form. What. They did only for the vagaries of the. Fact you get this said sieve the magnitude of that she meant men lands on the moon for the 1st time ever 9069 and a tool box on behalf of mankind to any. Living beings that may have been to come on the moon we come in peace or we came in peace anyway was that the greatest achievement. Of mankind or have we gone one better in the last few hours with this. Than. I mean if I had started. At 20 needed to go Dr nominal getting signals from an immoral. British cable you're good. At that kind of. Thinking and. Just by the applause I'm no I'm not sure I got the same sense of the magnitude of the occasion when mankind landed a rose of no human being on my eyes as the sense of achievement of men. Stepping on the moon but what do I know turning should say you're an amateur astronomer which of very easy to achievements would you say was the greater well known streaker don't know how to spell it yet you know only really tough experiments of the Murray 100 car I came to the UK I couldn't have done it without NASA put it that way. They helped. I've had a rocky quite interestingly I think you know rocket are named after well I'm not sure what the name dark but that was all Stevenson called a victory and he did pretty well as you were talking earlier yeah with the end yeah very good link actually because that original rocket from 829 and the rocket of today that the Roe vs to Mars there are similar. You know come from the same. Point that I'm sort of engineering you know to the still trying to out run horses essentially yeah yeah yeah yeah very well I don't think our wide network is absolutely superb even now in its depleted state. When compared to a. 100 Years ago when there were many many more miles of tracks unfortunately . To be cheap which it would be. Struck if they get rid of. $160.00 sixty's and the trains didn't seem to fit into you know the modern Britain we've many cars you know the conventional you know on the basics you know an assassin a mini And that kind of sense of swinging sixty's it wasn't the white hot heat of the industrial revolution that. That our Wilson wanted to rein in with a wall. Actually you know it actually was the white hot he is really just a revolutionary So I mean if we take him Stevens is rocking but I don't think how Wilson's government saw the sense of that and yet they had to be watching who decided they were marvelous times not sure what one single online is about. Any limits of what we could write. There is no real limits why magination. And if I said the the one thing we couldn't do is. Bring back life that is dead then I'll be proved wrong some point because we will some point be able to basically imagine bring him back somebody from the dead and. Extending their lives somehow and it's within our imaginations then we can achieve it if you see what I mean Jay have Joe I would you want to do that anyway where you could you will live forever what Tino will have to look at and you can emulate what Dylan when we lived for a very very long time talking about the human rights from Asia so well you know exactly we don't I mean I think it's painful for would go. Well I don't know how long break so lots of All eyes and we might do something we're told might help the world in uninhabitable. Because we can't imagine it you see what I mean your question was Is there any limit to human beings can do if we can make our world an inhabitable then there's no limit anything we can imagine. It is possible kind of all right now let me phrase it another way is there any problem that we can solve. From a personal. Even rice in Iraq a Ok yourself as a spokesman for the human rights problem that we cannot solve you told me a problem and I'll see a lot safer because of you told me the most difficult problems to solve. Yeah well it looks like um maybe for me to have always what they want because. He's not around as an underarm one give me a proper googly Oh right that is already living maybe even races expection. Know Jimmy. Lose all Tkinter be universal Yeah as long as we don't all jump up and down on the Isle of Wight this ain't. No life there is no. You know we I don't know where the end is it will but there is no limit if if we don't over to this planet then we'll find some other way of going up to Mars and making their journey I said yeah and. Show us Bright Star How can you have what you wish unless of course we make up plenty uninhabitable then the fear is as a rock a rock Yes actually. Almost finished still much like they do you know very much actually a lot you see I find I love the tragedies of shades and particularly the tragedies and the histories I couldn't live without the comedies to be honest and I do struggle get over tells trying to. Listen on b.b.c. Sounds to to Jensen of road which was wonderfully experience. I just found a little bit plodding and. Croft in here. And probably still well this. Here's the thing when I'm saying thank you lately I mean always been here then he has me a letter saying he has honed in he's crossed remember this for years the photos the Shakespearean photos from where we get the complete works of Shakespeare there were transcribed posthumously from the memory of that says oh right that's wrong even right any of that during those days if he said no I can't live 8 devil and he say it been a lot less lazy to have to memorize it off. What would you rather do we write it down to remember as a whole thing. Where the lazy ones were lazy ones to. Pull one over Shakespeare you know he was there from the beginning. I told my team that experience any. Checks they were probably the 1st in on sign the 2nd year I think I can go in that order out of to go for Newton before Einstein. Because it would have said yes and there wouldn't be an Einstein and cetera but Shakespeare. The only thing about Shakespeare that I wouldn't and no disrespect to people from the Midlands you know was coming. I know exactly. That is the question. For the millions again because if you're going to play for your Chinese if you're going to do this only out of the barrel if they called me up tonight and say that was a funny that wasn't funny that was not funny on the plane I'm going to sit down to . Listen to. The line number that. They know where you live your insurance and. Life could think like that we don't you know discontent saying it was Teddy should see that made me do it that's how shall I say we do smoke it we've good except that it was what I was saying all of. This extension that you know building Yeah I really. Mean every pleasure from Dillard like I am I have got pleasure I've had for a long long time look for me its flaws its philosophy.
