Down the actions of the metropolitan place and I'm not sure that is proportionate it is really really important that people concerned citizens are able to express themselves as we have done peacefully and highlight this issue and less than 2 days after its map was wiped out by a virtual asteroid in a place where the black hole fortnights is back online it was to mark the end of season 10 for the game but Season 11 is now life let's get the sport now it's a little light Thank you a for says it's committed to stamping out racism football's European governing body says it's doing everything it can to eliminate this disease he wait for has defended its current sanctions saying they are amongst the toughest in sports it follows last night's races chanting by home fans in Saffir cheering England's Euro qualifier against Bulgaria Garia the former England international Joleon Lescott has called for more b. Shop at least for one of this fight it all to me I'll also Nika. 5 Lively was cordial one part of a very last resort but they are one point often aka as Russian opera not. Anyway if you watch important sister you know well that's but if you weren't you won't care Ok it's 5 minutes past 3 Nicholas sturgeon Scotland's 1st Minister and the leader of the s.n.p. Is about to make his speech to the party's annual conference 5 lives James Shore is at the conference in Aberdeen James hello you know what are we expecting to hear from Nicholas sturgeon James. Maybe we should just kind of pause for a 2nd as Prosenjit extra. Food what extraordinary circumstances she's making this speech and you know in a few days' time the entire future of this country Scotland we're talking to you from in the whole of the u.k. Could change you know on turn of the dice is it going to be a deal is going to be no deal is it going to be delayed we don't know and those are the circumstances in which she makes this speech and I think what she's going to do if she's going to try and draw a kind of comparison between her style of course of politics and what she will call the crude populism as she would term it of political leaders like Boris Johnson and Donald Trump and she will emphasize the fact that she is seeking independence of course as we all know that's the going to principle of the Scottish National Party but she wants to do it by legal means she wants to do it the constitutional way know it and she will again compare with the actions of. Boris Johnson not in the way that he has conducted himself in other words you know the paroquet Sion the suspension of Parliament last month which was a route to be unlawful by the Supreme Court so emphasising that drive towards independence but also emphasizing the fact that she will do it in the way that she thinks is the right and the legal route to do it it always seems slightly remiss to kind of reduce an s.n.p. Conference or a speech just talking about the independence referendum to what are the big challenges that Scotland faces. Aside from getting in the ref and breaks it. Yeah that's a very fair point I mean one of the domestic policies that we we think she's going to talk about. What is described is known residential social care in other words Kaffir people who are living at home are supported by the state or local authorities and it's things like Wooden's and sheltered housing meals on wheels along for monitoring alarms for elderly people she says that the Scottish government is going to fund that to the tune of 250000000 pounds so that is a whacking great commitment which we think will come in if the s.n.p. a Virgin again after the 2021 election that's one priority for her but there are a whole load of other issues that the s.n.p. Would also be picked up on I think education a lot of people would have questions about their record on education over the last decade or so and also the n.h.s. Where there have been particular problems with a couple of very big new hospital projects which are not going to plan those I think are not the end of things she's going to in this conference speech I mean in 2015 they did extraordinarily well 2017 not so well and Ruth Davison's of the leader of the conservatives did quite well. Now that Ruth Davidson is no longer leaders Scottish conservatives James are they feeling more Boids by that. And you know I think there probably are but but one of the factors which is it seems really buoying them and it's one of the things that they've talked about at this conference is the fact that Scotland was so strongly against it and the s.n.p. Are an anti party and it looks as though there certainly are some people here who've decided to support the s.n.p. Even though they weren't previously in favor of independence so that has probably helped them a lot Bracks it is in a strange sense of benefit for the s.n.p. . But here's one thing that I think we should probably all bear in mind is that if by any chance any strange turn of circumstances bricks it doesn't happen that would actually have an effect for the s. And p. That would actually possibly lose them support it might mean that that goal of independence which they cherish would be further away than it seems at the moment change Thank you for our blogs James sure who is that yes M.P.'s annual conference in Aberdeen shortly we will be hearing from the leader of the Scottish National Party Nicholas Sturgeon who Scotland's 1st minister of course she makes her keynote address to s.n.p. Delegates Talking of which we have Stephen Campbell and Laura Pollack who are s.n.p. Members eagerly awaiting Nicholas speech very good afternoon to both of you been in love to talk lovely to talk to both of you so let's talk about some of these challenges this part bricks and let's park a 2nd referendum what do you think the big challenge is that Scotland face of starting with you Laura Oh you know the challenges call is based in part from. An. Independent Study this question yes it's one of the big challenges that we face. I would say I mean I would say that. I'm expecting this for starch and to call I thought is. That their attitudes that's external that I'm talking about and Turner looking at Scotland and say you can't make it all you can't just be a party that everyone thinks of all they're obsessed with is a 2nd referendum to. Learn faces challenges in terms of housing in terms of education and access policing all of these challenges I would definitely I'm quite focused on child care and I feel as though. Child care and education are and that's an important one. Stephen can I ask you as well where you think the big challenge is the law. I I think the biggest challenge personally lies in climate change because that's I mean it doesn't just affect Scotland affects the whole world but we meet really really ambitious targets so no I mean it's really important to here are actually going to go by tackling those. Yeah and on top of that you know you mentioned the chairs you mentioned which education I get that it's not the best in the world but I mean I just recently graduate I didn't have to pay a penny in fees it wasn't for that which is one of the main policies of I never would have been able to go to university. And in terms of then. Where you think the s.n.p. Have come short No I am asking delegates but you know and members of the party but trust you to be honest enough to say we're not getting more time you know where do you feel Stephen the s.m.p. Of foreign sure. I think there's been. There's been a lot of issues facing stuff in h.s. I mean my sister for the h.s. So that's something we need to tackle but that's going to be very very difficult and like a brick said because we have so made a staff here look at the country and others who don't want to come because they don't feel welcomed and I really hope that and the s.n.p. We can kind of spread that welcome message so that we can tackle that challenge. Laura yet. This is what we're falling star on. Yeah I definitely had a little bit state pensions I was off when there was a resolution that I'm on Monday about it. So. The state pension is the worst. For a major country so it's definitely not. Really tackle that. What about teachers sure to do Steve. Well yeah I mean it's the same thing again breaks it is really really not helping that situation I understand that you know the s.n.p. Is really trying to ward it to getting more young teachers into university and I think that that is starting to come to show and again but again with breaks that we need to try to make sure that as a party we're trying to encourage people to move to Scotland because we need more immigrants here and not just the n.h.s. Not just education but just our society is old. Do you think the s.n.p. Has been successful is management and I trust in Scotland largely at least I mean you know granted we certainly got short comings out say I'm not going to deny that that happened but I mean you know the n.h.s. Stuff is up more than 10 percent under the same We've got the best performing n.h.s. In the u.k. Over that doesn't make up for the fact that we're not perfect we still got work to do and I think the n.h.s. Has gotten difference to be proud of I've got family work for it and I know that they are very very proud to work for the Scottish n.h.s. . I mean looking at some information from last year and. In terms of mental health provision for young people 18 times for the with the worst on record with. My parents I've spoken to a lot about mental health my brain Arcos I've spoken to on social media so it's something that is very close to my heart and again we're not perfect but I think it's it's almost a good thing that so many people are talking the reason that we have such a long provision is because. I feel that the stigma is really being tackled quite successfully and because of that a lot more people are feeling like they can speak in the county jail yeah granted there is a really long waiting list I'm not going to deny that I've been in the Myself it's not a pleasant experience but the people who are in extremis need of help are the ones are prioritized and they're the ones that get the help 1st. So I'm Laura what are you expecting to hear from Nicholas sturgeon or in fact actually less do that in a different way what do you hug her. To hear yes I was. Hoping. Well I yes so I'm hoping for her to address. The way the ashes of August definitely. She. Wasn't prepared to be a politician at Matanzas silence and she hasn't been up to this point but I really hope she calls I John Sweeney that yesterday she you know. Described it as a claim by a dangerous one so that's what I'm hoping for. I'm hoping that she. Recognizes a new slang as well. Itself the engine of the past few days and our hard work as well. And the public's Everybody's I really hope she addresses and talk to deliver on those. I mean talking about young people but the Program for International Student Assessment says that you know. Since 2006 as one of the u.s. M.p. Coming to power Scotland's rankings in science is form from 10th place to 19th in reading ability from 11 to 23rd and in math from 11 to 24 that's the piece a ranking. Of 35 member nations of the o.e.c.d. I mean that's pretty alarming just staggering figures. Well that shows on less M.P.'s watch they haven't helped educate the children of Scotland Well they're. When I close sense that became 1st minister has been 1200 extra teachers in our schools so I think there is a teaching shortage in schools is there no yes. Absolutely and we're not there for that but there had we have. Those one type those those numbers. More than 100 schools been pushed on to the s.n.p. So we there are we have been rising action there Stephen what are you hoping to hear Nicholas sturgeon speak I was really hoping to hear more about her we're going to talk about climate change obviously and you were I think the 1st country the world to declare a climate of marriage and say like I said we've set the most ambitious targets anywhere in the world so I really want to hear more about how we're actually going to do that and I'm also hoping she mentions I saw this in years earlier today I'm about that part of being over again bisexual man 1st on convince these. Men who are criminalized for basically just loving someone of the same sex so I'm really hoping that she mentions that because I watched I watched in the Parliament a year and a half ago it was a really really emotional day and I think that's something that not just in a sea of people in Scotland we should be proud that we're really really progressive an outliner Absolutely I. Would love for her to and address the issues in Catalonia right now but that just happened. What about the focus on. Independence referendum a 2nd independence referendum referendum what do you mean not your members of the s.n.p. Separate fully saw and up to the idea. Is that not just an unnecessary distraction whereas I'm pointing out the s.n.p. Have. More immediate issues to deal with once they have been given power to deal with things such as education they seem to have filed over the last 30 years we've failed you gotta remember that Westminster still sits over overall budget so whilst we can decide where to allocate allocate. The money to stuff like that the money. Those come from Westminster and those rankings that I mention that's down to Westminster so when things go wrong you can blame Westminster and when things go right you can be got yourselves I didn't say Right Ok so then what do you put in this down to this this this failure in reading ability science and math and the 3 cool you know I'm not I'm not too sure what that Peter is I've not actually read them myself before but and. Yet that I can argue of the Edinburgh social Now that is not very good and I really really hope to address that issue and I know that our education secretary is excellent and I know that our schools are again excellent I'm just so the system myself and I do genuinely believe that our education system is something for us to be proud of. Well I think there is new and new figures due to be published this year they may have already been published so I may be going on old ones but certainly from 2006 right through to 2019 when there simply because you've been in power for most of that time that would not be encouraging So Ok so you clearly believe there should be a 2nd independence referendum that this sense of referendum election fatigue amongst people generally think it's a vote winner in Scotland of course I do and I mean polling seems to indicate there's no vote in economics so I think that we need to keep working we need to get more people inside because people look at what's happening with bricks it's forced them to pay attention to politics they look at what's happening to you know Westminster is just a bunch of elitist people shoving each other I think I do feel like the u.k. Is going down a very very dangerous path and it's not going to be resolved quickly this is going to be off for generations and I don't want to be part of the u.k. And the current state as I don't see how we get back from it. Do you think Westminster would allow a 2nd independence referendum referendum especially if Boris Johnson wins the next general I almost feel like an idiot asking this question you know the answer to it don't we do you think I would. And in democracy politicians never stand in the way the people. At the death and the mentors there and the mandates they had then. They would have to give us a right to choose to believe in respecting the result of the referendum Oh yeah because Scotland for you to remain right I do respect that but as part of a United Kingdom that's true but that doesn't mean it's called his voice can just be ignored interposed the 14 we were told to you Kate not leave the u.k. Until we just agree and then we just have to go along with whatever a majority of people in England or Wales has to eat so this is this is I guess one of the big. Mechanisms that the s.n.p. Is going to use to try and persuade people in Scotland to vote for a 2nd referendum that Scotland voted to remain we have or because it's true an article of people of Scotland are really really angry at what's been happening this isn't in our name the attitude of Boris of the Conservative Party Westminster it's been nothing short of disgraceful they've made people from the e.u. His came here to live here work here their entire lives feel like they don't belong here anymore yeah it's not right. Imagine if the u.k. Left the left the u.k. Rejoin the e.u. And this is a big question because I'm not sure how many people feel about it and 2016 what would happen at the border. Well whilst Scotland was able to you Can the e.u. I don't see why there would have to be borders this will all be up to negotiations you can remember it won't just be yes all borders go up there will be negotiations I mean you know the whole thing well we know that's worked out when it comes. To violence you know what I mean I think in but for the last 3 years yeah of course it is a very unique a shill. So you feel that the Scottish people to be quite interesting actually for some while Scottish listeners to text in the night 5 o 5 and tell us their thoughts on this that you think the Scottish people are swinging round to the idea of having this referendum well as well that you know I'm going to have to interrupt you both of your own children at least because you're also going to want to hear this the leader of the s.n.p. And of course 1st ministers go to Nicolas sturgeon is now taking to the stage at their annual conference in Aberdeen and he's about to speak over to Nicholas thank . You. If you're sitting comfortably. Conference I want to talk to you to d. Abate 2 futures abates a choice of 2 futures for our country and for what don't you know there are times in his study when fundamental decisions have to be meet decisions Hadeed by our values and by our hopes for future generations choice seats that involve standing up for what is right. This is such a moment. Politics today is dominated in too many countries by strongman leaders with inflated egos and I look over being sense of entitlement. Thank you came as a prime minister who has acted unlawfully he cares nothing nothing for the human consequences of his disastrous breaks policy. Indeed virtually every d. Since he entered doning street Boris Johnson has demonstrated on every level that he is totally fit for the office he holds Thanks . And across the Atlantic. The current incumbent of the White House in just his latest outreach has a load a war in the Middle East to be erupt conference later was to be make clear over strong opposition to Turkish aggression in northern city of Thank You cards in Syria have been on the front line against ISIS now the and the children are being bombed what is happening is unconscionable it must store no thanks. What leaders like Borders Johnson and Donald Trump have in common is this a belief that nothing should be allowed to stand in the we of their own self interest. Nor facts or evidence nor the rule of law nor democracy in some cases not even basic human rights friends we are poor as the politics of Johnson and Trump but later was. Let us be clear today that we reject the methods to create populism tramples on the rights of minorities and tears at the very fabric of our democracy that is north for all as that is not who we are thank . These can seem like dark times but it is late and there is always hope progressive values are being fought for in Europe young people are taking a stand for their future and for Scotland the hope lies in becoming an independent nation thanks . Be a new don't about this. We are winning the case for independence thank you the great Billy Connolly said last week that if Scotland would like independence he would like to. Thank you he said Scotland's in great she politically it's an extraordinary she conference humbly I agree though thanks and as for Scotland putting up with governments we don't vote for he said they wouldn't take it any more the untrue begin stale he used less polite word than 8 but you get the drift. And he is rate we won't take it anymore we shouldn't take it anymore it is time to take charge or vote on future it is tie in conference for independents they'll. Hate . We will win over independence but not the breaks that we know by undermining democracy. Demonizing those who disagree and plastering why on the side of a boss we will win by inspiring and persuading so late was resolved to be that how we campaign for independence will always always reflect the open tolerant inclusive and democratic nation we are determined to build thank . You key that seemed possible to many just 5 years ago no longer exists and the u.k. That was said to be impossible is now all 2 of you you know I vividly remember in 2014 the director of the new campaign being asked about the prospect of voters Johnson becoming today a leader. He said it was and I quote a skier Stuti now you're coming from the architect of project fear that was quite the accolade it was a bit like being told to stop swearing by Malcolm Tucker the film but his reasoning was this what is John's would only become to the leader if the Tories lost the next election and got rid of David Cameron he said the Yes campaign had to say whether it was scaremongering about endless to the government or about borders joints and it couldn't be both. Ok Swart we did get both the Tories are still in power Boris Johnson is Prime Minister and those who laid that no campaign will never be trusted by the people of Scotland ever again thank . They told us to vote no to stay in the e.u. They told us that we would lead the uki they said we would enjoy a union dividend but instead we suffered years of tortillas stated to we face job losses and the brakes it recession we're even having to plan for shortages of food and medicine friends I don't know about you but I think that is something else we are short of Scotland short of an abject apology from the Tories Labor and the liberals for all of those broken promises thank you it is because of those broken promises that Scotland faces removal from the European Union. Breaks it is a disaster whatever happens over these next few weeks it will continue to dominate Westminster for years to come there is no say Hinson which it will be done now we don't know yet whether the u.k. Will leave with a deal or without it but we do know that neither of these outcomes is in Scotland's interests a new deal breaks it is unthinkable and for the Scottish Tories in particular to back such an outcome is simply on forgivable. Thank you ideal of the table is Johnson is proposing would not be much better his plans would take Scotland out of the e.u. To the single market and 8 of the Customs Union conference let me make this absolutely clear to the s.n.p. As well not a same p. M.P.'s will not vote for that nor no nor ever thank you leave us facing a future relationship with the e.u. That is even more distant than that envisaged by tidies or me going from Borders Johnson's plan is any guarantee of protection for environmental rights food safety consumer rights workers rates all of that has been sacrificed on the altar of a trade deal with Donald Trump. And on that issue I have a message for this and any future u.k. Government if you ever try to barter with the quality of Scotland's food or the beauty of own environment and if you ever dear Scotland's precious any chase up for sale the s.n.p. Will fight to every single stay of the we thank you what means breaks it so much worse for Scotland is that it is happening against our will. One of the sticking points in the negotiations with the e.u. Has been the issue of consent for Northern Ireland if there is to be a deal it seems inevitable that it will include a process to alone Northern Ireland to say if and for how long it will still ain't to the single market and the Customs Union and that's exactly as it should be. But think of Beauport that will mean we always will have to leave England will have to leave Northern Ireland will be given a see over its future Scotland will be the only country in the year key to be taken out of the e.u. Against their will and with no see over her future relationship with you that that is Nort a partnership of equals that is a denial of fairness and basic democracy Thanks . Breaks it is a disaster but it is a symptom of a deeper problem that problem is the Westminster political union for Scotland breaks it sure is that the Westminster system is broken and it is broken utterly beyond repair conference. We have a cast iron Monday 8 for an independence referendum that is beyond thank you we don't just have a right to offer the people of Scotland a choice over the future in the circumstances Scotland no faces we have a duty to do so and that is what we intend to do thank you let me be clear about this the process by which we choose Scotland's future must be capable of actually achieving independence it must allow majority support to be expressed clearly and unambiguously it must be legal and it must have the recognition of the international community why because ever job is not just to deliver a referendum conference our job is to deliver independence thanks and my call is that the referendum must happen next year and we are getting ready. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you thank you and we are getting ready. For the New Year we will have completed our legislative preparations we had already working to update the independence prospectus and I can confirm to the that before the end of this year I will demand the transferred of power that puts the legality of that referendum beyond any day thank you. Thank friends when I do. The question should not be to the s.n.p. What will we do if Westminster refuses the question should be demanded of the Westminster parties what gives you any right to deny people in Scotland the ability to choose only future thanks . Conference. The Westminster refusal is Nort sustainable we can already see the cracks appearing the labor leaderships in London and Wales have recognised a rate to choose they make Scottish Labor even more ridiculous than normal. Thank all of the other parties are so lacking in confidence that a referendum can be blocked that the no trying to rig the question. Just like cuz the know there is going to be a referendum and the nor that when there is Scotland will choose independence so the thank support is rising our task is to build even further and make the demand irresistible. And soon we will have the chance to show the strain of public opinion a general election is imminent and it cannot come soon enough. Thanks. When it does or message will be clear simple and unambiguous vote s.n.p. To demand independence and secure Scotland's right to choose. Thanks . And some poll suggests that an election might result in a hung parliament Well the s.n.p. Will never put the Tories into power but I have a message for any Westminster party that wants a say in peace support if you don't respect Scotland's right to choose our own future at a time of our own choosing don't even bother picking up the food it was. Hundreds you know after year decade after decade decisions a boat or future have been made by Westminster government that Scotland has rejected those decisions have taken their toll on Scotland and they have shattered the case for the union for some people that case will have rested on the great nationalized industries of the post-war era but those industries would abandoned by a Tory government Scotland did not vote for for others it will be the welfare state or welfare state that is being dismantled by another government we didn't vote for and for many it will have been the vision of an open tolerant would looking society and a shared future in utero. But even that is being taken away from us by a government Scotland did nor vote for countries I see enough enough of government Scotland did not vote for imposing policies we do not support thank . You know when I talk to people who are no open to independence even though the will to ignore in 2014 or straits me is this their priorities haven't shifted they still wards an economy that works for ordinary people they want a social security system that is there when they need it and they want an equal partnership and the chance to plea or feel part in Europe those sentiments haven't changed but the way to achieve them has the commitments made to the post-war generations have been broken but the just and the fear society that was promised can still be realized it will be realized now you went together we win our country's independence thank conference it is inexplicable to me that anyone who cares about social justice would want to leave powers at Westminster when that so often means leaving them in the hands of right wing Tory governments and I think it would be inexplicable to be to the pioneers of the Scottish Labor party James Marks the one of the great figures of the labor movement spoke about the campaign for home rule back in the 1920 s. His words are worth quoting in food supplies indulge me. Give us a parliament in Scotland he said set it up next year we will start with new traditions we will start with ideals men and women will spend their whole energy their whole brain power their Who cottage and their whole Saul and making Scotland into a country in which we can take people from all nations of the air and see this is our land this is our Scotland These are people these are our main Our works are women and children can be tipped conference if that's Nort a modern day definition of independence I don't Northport is it's time to complete that journey it is time for independence to build a better society thank you thank you. And these turbulent times over job is to bring hope to be the confidence builders and the best place to start is always with the facts its goal is national income is higher per head than countries like France Japan a New Zealand so do not ever let anyone tell you that Scotland is not rich enough to be independent because we most certainly are thanks we have extraordinary strains in energy science and research food and drink tutors them financial services creative industries manufacturing digital technology so don't let them tell you that Scott was economy is not strong enough to be independent either or that we are not big enough. 7 out of the 10 whale theist developed countries out of a size similar to or smaller than Scotland from what some bark to Ireland from Austria to Switzerland to Norway countries of oversize are leading the world and the taint to be happier as whale. Thanks is true 8 of 10 of the world's happiest countries have populations similar to or smaller than Evers No I'm nor aware of the unionist parties trying to tale is that we're too miserable to be independent yet. But when will it be a neighbor to play comes you know you know the answer. Conference the serious point is this we had a wealthy country busting with talent and potential This is our Scotland rich enough strong enough big enough to take our place among the prudes independent nations of the world and that is what we must know do thank . Breaks it in any for our prosperity at risk so we must reject a post breaks that race to the bottom and embrace instead a race to join that top tier of independent nations and consider this as an independent European country Scotland will have a unique advantage we will be in the e.u. Single market and the closest neighbor to our friends in the rest of the uki a bridge between Europe and the u.k. Making our country a magnet for Global Investment Conference that is what I call the based of both worlds thank you thank the foundations for independence our strong the value of Independence lies in the opportunity to build a feeder country the 20 home arts of this 20 government have been welfare cuts for the poor and tax cuts for the rich pensioners are being short changed to the u.k. State pension is the lowest in the developed world hoot to add insult to injury Westminster has robbed women born in the 1950 s. Of their pension intake to me is shameful conference thanks. Thank the s.n.p. Stans with the war speedy women the u.k. Government must give them back the money that is theirs by right thanks but impatiens the could be even worse in store a think tank set up by Ian Duncan Smith architect of universal credit has suggested that the pension age should rise to 75 I see to the Tories to be if you ever try to bring this in the s.n.p. Will oppose it all the we go with independents with independents we can make our own choices we can take responsibility and say its own priorities and we can also to say what we don't want to spend money on nuclear weapons are a mortal but they are also a massive waste of money thanks independents we can and we will get rid of Trident uclear missiles from the clade once and for all. Thank hears Here's another idea for saving some cash the House of Lords thank the 2nd biggest legislative chamber in the one who'd after the National People's Congress of China. You know in one tear and there were 63 peers who failed to speak at home but they still claim more than a 1000000 poll. Between them just for being there the House of Lords is undemocratic and with independence we would have to contribute a single penny towards it we can have a modern Parliament with a written constitution instead they are task is to build confidence in the strength of out economy and in our vision of a feeder more democratic country. And through our actions in government we will continue to build confidence in the value of decision making here in Scotland it was the Czech writer turned politician vice of Havel who said vision is not enough it must be combined with venture it is not enough to stay up the steps we must stay up the stairs so let me tell you how we are stepping up for a better school and the most important obligation moral obligation we all to future generations is to bequeath to them a planet in detail. Thank the young claimant activists get to Thornburg has faced predictable beheaded just criticism from certain quarters those who huddle in so hard should take a long hard look at themselves thank you yes hard may sit on comfortable for political leaders that's the point. And she is absolutely right to challenge us to do more and so are the millions of young people around the world who are campaigning alongside her they are doing the what don't a Cervus and we thank them for it thank you Arjun see in global scale of the claim emergency means we must work across borders now is the moment for the what if to shore port it is capable of let us resolve today that Scotland will lead the week we are already awarded leader in renewable energy in new sources of power this wonderful new conference venue is an example of that hydrogen fuel cells opposing the hall in which we have gathered right now. We've already thank you we already have a greenhouse gas emissions and I am very proud that just last month we passed legislation to ensure that Scotland will be an 80 emissions nation by 2045 years ahead of the rest of the u.k. Is leadership thanks for my lecture cars electric trains and even electric planes we are leading the we of course the climate emergency demands that there are some new technologies we must say no to earlier this month we said take our final policy on unconventional oil and gas we listen to the evidence we consider the impact on climate change and we came to this conclusion early same p government will not issue any new licensees for fracking there will be no fracking It's a thank you thank you probably haired The phrase Think globally act locally is an idea attribute seeds to a Scots the planet and conservation is Patrick Geddes from its rating 100 years ago and it sums up the challenge we face today Scotland is leading globally but we must support local action too we are investing 500000000 pounds a new bus infrastructure to make journeys faster greener and more convenient we want people to walk and cycle more to reducing our carbon footprint and improving our health so I can announce today a new investment for local projects the length and breadth of our nation from a year to Aberdeen a fund of 20. 1000000 homes or support more than 200 schemes to make it easier for people to cycle and to walk that is acting locally as we lead globally and making our contribution to tackling the claimant emergency they were taking steps to tackle inequality to the Social Security system should be there to not do the gap between rich and poor but totally welfare policy is way denying that gap 8 and a half and Scottish families have already had their income cut by the universal credit to child limit for the tame it is fairly low don't up to 20 the who's in children will have been pushed into poverty. Contrast that with the work of our Scottish government we are introducing the new Scottish child payment that has been described by the Child Poverty Action Group as a game changer the 1st payments of $10.00 pounds per week will be made by Christmas next year when it's fully implemented more than 400000 children will benefit and let me. Thank you let me be crystal clear about this the Scottish payment will have no. And nor uphold it recalls thank her friends there is the difference between the Tories and the a said p. In a nutshell they push children into poverty the s.n.p. Lifts them up thank you we we know that injustice extends beyond financial inequality we have a responsibility to help all those who are vulnerable we've already taken important steps to protect women in giggles from domestic abuse school and has led the way with grown breaking legislation that criminalizes psychological as well as physical abuse but organizations like Scottish women seeds have told us to go further we need to change the reality that for women in the children often the only way to escape an abuser is to flee their home for too many that results in the victims of abuse becoming homeless. So I can instantly that within this parliamentary tear we will introduce a new law to establish emergency protective orders conference it should not be the victims of abuse who lose their homes it should be the pair for traitors and he's ordered for me thank her friends up and down our country every day our fellow citizens are cared for by our National Health Service and hospitals health centers and people's own homes are fantastic n.h.s. And social care staff are hard at work latest thank them today for all that they do thank you playing with the founding principle of our health service the care they prefer aid is free at the point of need you no fee Paris no care was one of the proudest achievements of the early days of evolution and I am proud that April this year over a said p government extended it to everyone who needs it regardless of age thank the principle behind few personal kids the same is for health care if you need help you should get it. Despite that principle many people of all ages still have to pay for nonresidential social care services I know from my own constituency experience that charges can be a real body or to people accessing the support they need and if they can't get that support in their own homes they're more likely to end up in hospital so today I meet this pledge if I am reelected as 1st minister of the Holyrood elections then over the next parliament the s.n.p. Will scrap Norn residential social care charges for everyone thank you brains when I became 1st minister I set my government a clear priority education and there is no policy more transformational and with more potential to raise attainment in the years to come than the expansion of a learning and show here by August next year we will have all but doubled the hours children receive they will benefit from 30 hours a week of high quality free care and education and it will see families 4 and a half years and a year for each child conference that is worth more than any tax cut any Tory government is ever going to deliver to hard pressed families in Scotland thank you we will not stop here. We are consulting the radio on the next phase of boat expansion we will have more to see on this in the months to come but I am making one important commitment to the if the same peers returned to government after the next holy duty election we will expand child care into the school holidays for priority pupils from the poorest grades thank you all still days of high quality child care freeing Peyton's to work to help them lift their families of poverty conference we are building confidence in the power of decision making to change lanes here in Scotland you know in government we put our ideals and our values into practice and we do so for everyone who lives in Scotland nor mater we are the come from thank you we believe in equal rights that's why we have introduced a new law to extend the right to vote in Scottish elections to citizens of all nationalities legally resident here to everyone everyone thank you every single pair said he chooses to make our country their home my message is this You are welcome here we value you with all our hearts we want you to stay and you.
