This isn't for nigh on 5 love and also not a buyer coming up in this hour of the program off to England Cricket says Sara Tyler resize from international cricket we asked a sports psychologist how common anxiety is amongst top athletes and if anything can be done about how much time G.'s spend on Facebook can you willing to measure yourself even for because. There's pointy headed people of Facebook coming up with another way of you to waste your time if you look at it in that way want to spend your time constructively of course that's what it's all about and I come up with a new app. You're going to sleep to bed some promise you that and Spider-Man Spider-Man does whatever a spider can. Despite his show he can produce a 3rd Spider-Man film less what his body can do and it's coming your way very soon . You'll know what genes are with these old cutting things you stick your text messages or e-mails that they say what you want to say but in the form of an image or so anyway they are harmless in the main you would have thought some apparently have more sinister meanings that according to one u.s. Anti group the Anti Defamation League says that the way and sign is being used by some as a sincere expression of white supremacy Well don't say Arianna matzoh Morris Fernandez is a lecturer in digital media in the School of Communication at the Queen's University of Technology don't see the temp much more as Fernandez How does an emoji become a hate symbol. Hello hello thanks for having me well actually it depends on how we use this images for I so once one I'm on appropriated by a hate group I white supremacy is that the meaning changes in our name we have the struck so it's a cartoon that was appreciated by the promise is again and then when it's widespread use is by these hate groups and we have to receive the way we are using get out there or the way we are using Ok hand it's not I'm not I'm definitely Ok hon it's still remains Ok in everyday conversation and on one of them Facebook Twitter. If we engage with the Ok head as a way of engaging with the me because it's fun because you want to get media attention that it becomes problematic because it's being up repeated by these hate groups I see what you mean but it would only be problematic if the recipient of your message associates who did you know a simple Ok sorry and with the hate group that would only then would it be problematic because I didn't know this going to use the case sign and I'm presuming that most people that I know don't know that it's been appropriated it hasn't got that one currency yet has it. Yeah obviously I mean. You if you're using the Ok Because your mom says Are you coming for dinner yet you put the obvious that you are not contributing to amplifying the meaning of the Ok time as as it is being us hate groups but if you know them maybe and but you are not normally a target of a hate a number lez you think it's fun so you engage with the choke and you take a selfie of yourself in the Ok I'm just just just those a way of having fun on the internet then yes it's problematic because you know about it but you're not a white supremacy that maybe you're just you just want to be part of this me I just have a joke with your friend so this is problematic because you are on. The meaning that these hate groups want to attach this that is apology and obviously what this case would have brought is asking about this so that's another implication process you know over what we're not particularly talking about any specific group here we're talking about the appropriation generally a kind of a cultural appropriation How do these groups manage to appropriate what is common to all of us in one language actively manage to change the language if you like of emerges. Well I think that just because. We talk about it so you know many it's our day in a strange Internet it's kind of starring forums like 4 chan and ready. And they you know a few years I'll try figures are also using pepper the frog or the Ok hand so that and something it's. Interesting by the media I would just say Ok what's going on and then mainstream media starts talking about this so part of the Internet culture is get media attention and obviously if we if they would use this Pastika they would use the burning cars that would be a bit of that this would be covered. As a Scot I was old mainstream media whereas if they. Only banaya and. It's just it's just something else so it's this sense of curiosity and then it's done so once we start talking about. It that's known and it gets more used and and it's really easy to say well it's just the child is just the Ok hon it's just better the frock. Again when when your body is not in danger it's really is it's a lot. We have to get we have to be careful of course there are. The sun as an emoji denotes in a far right white supremacist continence What does it do you know. Well. There are different theories one fears is that the 3 fingers that I have is a w. And then went into the circle it's a p. So it's why power. Yeah I mean so they use it like those you know gang signs that people will use you know use their fingers to denote something in a gang song whether it's you know I belong to this gang or hey this other gang it's like that in the user Yeah it's a it's a shared identity it's a way to identify exactly all that it's called The Language have a guy like for like all sorts of groups it's. It's a trick it can be for the good or for that but I think it has been used for propaganda so yeah it's a side of identifying waste a certain group or movement. Though it's a much more is Fernandez thank you don't tarry on the rights of Morris Fernandez from the Queensland University of Technology interesting. As move on to another subject to that want to bring you in this is gross sports and desired see because the England wicketkeeper Sara Taylor is now retired from international cricket because of her ongoing battle of anxiety the 30 year old who's 2nd on the England women's all time list of runs scored with 2 from the summer's Ashes to focus on her mental health Sara Taylor did tell the b.b.c. Back in 2016 about her anxiety happened. Mainly when I was just about to bat that kind of expectation of of wanting to score runs that was that was the hardest to see the nose would hit me but it would be with it would be nerves plus something else and I was always compete as to what I was but now I know I am a it's a genuine kind of panic and had heart races you can feel fine. And that's and that's those are still things I go through and. And there has been times when I've had to run off or run a front into the changing rooms and I'll be sick sometimes just 3 shifts like sheer panic and. And that's that's where it's got to it in terms of my cricket and yeah like I say that then in turn affects my performance and and I had to be addressed to most of the soccer is a senior lecturer in sports and exercise psychology at Nottingham and trench university I asked him if anxiety among South Leeds top level is common in resides he generally speaking it's quite common I guess I think it's 1st important to make a distinction between feeling wired in feeling anxious about a particular situation so for example in the context of sport feeling anxious about an upcoming competition feeling anxious about a selection selection trial for example but as in comparison to what you might call kind of generalized anxiety disorder where people are spread their more of a long term condition where people are anxious not just in relation to one situation but anxious actually day to day they can convert to relax at all they often struggle to remember the last time they've actually been able to have a good night's sleep and they feel anxious about a wide variety of situations so I would say that anxiety about particular stressful situations is probably quite common within sport but probably generalizing is ita disorder probably not so common how does anxiety amongst Small's people manifested so I think it could be the fact that they feel quite restless and worried they're probably in some cases having difficulty difficulty concentrating and focusing they could also be the case that they might be making poor decisions for example under pressure so yeah lots of loss of loss in ways that can kind of manifest itself depending on if it's mild or or quite severe not just in the context of. So Sara Taylor who retired as a result of offerings I don't we don't know the kind of the exact details but obviously she she's made the decision it was having an impact on our health and obviously having an impact on a game. The extent that she felt that she needed to take kind of a long break I'm sure is different from case to case but I remember reading an interview with the former Arsenal defend the paramedic to sack a retired the season or 2 ago and he was he was saying that literally before every match and this is somebody who'd been playing football since he was a kid literally before every match he would throw up with anxiety and actually vomit is that kind of thing common. And in some cases I've I've been know people kind of swimmers for example in particular who who have the exact same kind of condition where. The same kind of symptom when they are kind of throwing up and I would say is it's probably more common than people think but I wouldn't necessarily say that that's the case of you know every single athlete who's going through the probably more common probably think it would take people for surprise in terms of how many people might be going to going through that maybe not today extent that people are throwing up for example but in terms of that quite severe anxiety before an important competition or an important game. I think that is relatively common within a within a sporting contest to see how I would call it nerves nervous even as a kid is who you know trying to run or a head of a school race you know you could nerves point to those nerves become anxiety and how can we distinguish that this is more than just nerves. I think if it's if it's not something that sports psychologists will deal with with was quite clear quite commonly with athletes into them and helping them you know if example providing relaxation relaxation strategies and often those nerves are in relation to particular. Situations so I think where we can kind of distinguish that from anxiety is if those if those nerves are those worries are constant so not just in relation to one particular context or one particular situation or event they're a little bit more long term and if starting if that anxiety happens throughout most days and throughout the day and when generally people generally speaking people then Constantia as a result of their anxiety that's I think when it becomes anxiety rather than just. And that's when potentially people will require. Probably psychological help counseling except to help help address than tackle the so it's psychological rather than physical even. It is a problem if somebody's a combination of the 2 I think sometimes psychological kind of therapy can be quite useful in terms of potentially if it's anxiety disorder. I know for example within certain you know certain psychologists lost and use something called cognitive behavioral therapy which will help people and help athletes for example manage their thoughts and mount and manage that their thinking and manage their beliefs a little bit better. Potentially some of the symptoms could be physical So the example that you gave there about someone throwing up things I see could translate into full of physical type symptoms another so the variety of ways that can be kind of addressed and tackled is it the same for sports for the poor as it is for. Our so-called revealed drugs for words. You know top athletes essentially when we become anxious it does have can have a severe impact on us now one day feed is the same for sports athletes it terms of the symptoms and in terms of how it might manifest that is probably quite similar between a non athlete and an athlete I guess the source of dying Xyzzy could be different often in terms of the source of anxiety for example could be things like media pressure it could be 6 ample particular in the context of cricket it could be being away from home for a long period of time when you're on tall. So the actual source of the as I see is property value different and to some extent again it depends on a case of the case basis but the the severity of the or the intensity of the anxiety could just be manifested a little bit more with a nastily because of the kind of August the high expectation of some of the meat media scrutiny that athletes are sometimes under but apart from that I think in terms of the symptoms and how it manifests is probably going to be quite similar between on athletes and athletes anything they can do about. Can. I made clearly career ending I understand but if I pass the does suffer from anxiety is it anyway that they can manage that and still stay the top of their game or will it always you know have the effect of keeping them from the highs pinnacle they could achieve it's interesting with Sara Taylor actually because you come off in terms of whether it's common or not as I said I think things I see within sport is quite common and most of the time. Athletes can manage that through. Support that they receive so that could be relaxation strategies and techniques that they could learn cognitive behavioral therapy meditation mindfulness and a variety of other other techniques I would say the Saratoga case is actually quite . Unique in the sense to the best of my knowledge I've not heard too many I've heard of of athletes who have taken a break as a result of their mental health difficulties but not to the extent where it stopped them actually playing sport for good. So I would say majority of times yes it probably it can be addressed with with a variety of techniques I would say in very face few cases it would actually stock sleep's participating and in the context of Seroquel is really good she's made that decision herself she want to put a health 1st rather than the spawn and she's kind of kept it from what you can see in the interview that she seems that she's up base with up but yeah it's not not furry often where the mental health condition world would actually stop you from participating what we know there's a high pressure. Career after Let's examine and there will be some athletes Babs even listening to this program now suffer in silence or George voice. If they suffer from anxiety which they do. Well I think the 1st thing to do is actually to talk about it I think the key really is itself awareness and and for people to accept and to share that with with someone else will share that with a a close friend or or a family member or someone just couldn't trust it I think within the context of for there's a lot I guess the pressure of people saying well the general public think that these are invincible that shouldn't be facing any mental health this qualities are often athletes are generally speaking well paid and the general public perception is that yeah they shouldn't be facing any issues but athletes are very much the same you know the human being at the end of the day and if they are facing this idea I think the 1st port of call it to make sure you you you speak about it you accept it and then. Depending on the guessing that depending on the severity of the situation at the point that could be a simple those speaking to a friend or family member but if it's a little bit more severe than that actually seeking out psychological support and in the end in the context of seeing a sports psychologist or a counselor or someone who was able to I guess talk them through some of the issues that they're facing though to mystify a sock of the senior lecturer in sports an exercise psychology not seeing him try to university now if you'd like Chucky biscuit in your cup for d.c. There's no need to join our club but I do have some news for you concerning news project if you use those plastic tea bags because they these plastic bags my be leaving billions billions of microscopic plastic particles in people's teacups and this is according to new data Canadian researchers found that some plastic bags shed high levels of micro plastics into water. And disease from McGill University Montreal and was. All of the research is on the study and I started by asking how dangerous the marker plastics are what we found with this study is that it. A person when they make a cup of tea with plastic it's important to know that not all she buys are made of plastic they might be ingesting billions of my current nano plastics However our study didn't really go into the toxicology because we are a chemical engineering department so definitely that is the next step to us toxicologist and medical doctors to help us out and you know make more studies to find out what would the effect of this who was the result was surprising because you do fool people you know the plastic in the home is going to have a chemical reaction. Yes definitely so when we started this study we did expect a few 100 or maybe a few 1000 particles we were really surprised to see that the numbers are in the billions. And. Concerning that it's that much. So the numbers are high however we did look at the particles that are very small so when you compare it to other studies that have been made for instance plastic water bottles they're finding 10 point one particle spray bottle but these articles are way bigger Most studies are not looking at the size we're looking at and this might be the reason why we find billions of particles. And I do think there is much research to being done and definitely it's urgent for people to start doing this research are understand as you said that you know you're on your own medical scientists were nevertheless can you tell us what difference the saw in this was. Sure so a micro plastic would be something the size of the stick mists of your hair were as a nano plastic would be something $1000.00 times smaller the smaller something is the more likely it is to move around your body However again we didn't really study that so I can't comment on exactly what the effects of this would be in the body Ok it's worrying though isn't it is this considered weight so free prove their brilliance Roger plans to leave your body it puts people off the cuff and cod budget. Yeah definitely definitely it is something that has to be addressed but most importantly I think it is something for us as consumers to realize that plastic bags are just not something necessary like you come by or tea leaves you come by your tea in paper or tea bags there's really not the need for this single use plastic to be steeped in all that water in order to make. I mean can you still get a straw you know fancy. You must be. Ok absolutely So the problem is not the tea and I don't want to highlight show trial is not the problem is the packaging so it is the plastic tea of us that's the tea bags are those tea bags that are made of a little like small men. 3 line you and Steve Kean side they are normally in a pyramid shape but not always you say so so the problem is the packaging is definitely not the key you can still enjoy your cup of tea without worries you see the joke is always so those ones those kind of tea bags with the push ones you know the the real push ones you always think well if the rich people are buying there are deaf we won't die because they tend to eat healthier food because they can afford it. Oh yeah absolutely they are marketed as their expensive tea they are marketed as the silky. Nose team but it's it's really just caustic Laura Hernandez from McGill University Montreal and literally moments after I finished speaking. I go take Saying well. You know the mill that comes in plastic bottles for example you know how many billions of particles otherwise maybe not but it is maybe just a couple of dozen puzzles of market plastics we can etc etc You can see where that's going you know plastic spoons are searchers but I didn't I wasn't I was just thinking about tea because I know that a lot of us love our Kompas and she had a lot to say as to how healthy that couple 2 years particularly the plastic tea bags and how we're going to be talked about Spider-Man Ok I know there might be some and acrophobic listening to the program but you know Spider-Man Spider-Man does whatever spider camber 1st of all does give the late says b.b.c. Radio 5 how much charm do you spend on Facebook and are you willing to merge yourself even further because Facebook's using virtual reality to create an immersive environment called horizon which is an app that lets people inhabit and explore virtual spaces via a cartoon Avatar Well Sam mask over it she's a reporter for Technica and has tried horizon what's it like so most of the Good morning to you all yes. Facebook horizon is similar to some of these other Virtual Reality Chat spaces that have appeared in the past 5 years since these it started selling in people's homes the idea being that you turn into a cartoon version of yourself you set hair color other little outfits and then you become this almost Pixar looking character wandering around you have no legs you are the sort of Stumpy human version of yourself while you meet both friends and strangers alike in v.r. Playing games creating little worlds out of like clay or items that you can use your hands to build around and it's also not out yet this was just newly announced a couple of days ago at a giant Facebook event and San Jose California so it's all kind of early yet but they did go ahead and have me run it through its paces. Oh that's a great question I on one hand it seems like families and the kind of folks who might be otherwise scared of virtual reality in terms of it being bubbly cute again kind of that Pixar sort of look but on the other hand they said to me I got to speak to some folks from Facebook and they have a very clear mission they want you to spend time in virtual reality with utter strangers you go in you land you put on the headset and you end up in a lobby with complete and total strangers and in order to get people excited about this Facebook is going to hire a full staff of people who sit and wait in virtual reality until new users come in at which point their job will be to greet them say hello and act like a virtual reality friend with our free time already Facebook what are they going to get out of it oh they want everybody in virtual reality that's Mark Zuckerberg has said this a few times he's the founder and c.e.o. Of Facebook at these events they paid almost $2000000000.00 for this company Oculus a few years ago and have already trotted out a lot of virtual reality headset at 1st it seemed like they were going for this kind of nerd who had spent a lot of money on computer equipment and now it's scaled down to in the United States about $3400.00 for a thing that doesn't require a computer or cables or any extra stuff you just slap it on your face and your and be are so I think they really want to control the sense of us living in a sort of virtual or augmented world and there's a whole nother thing they talked about which I could go into about augmented reality they have a dream of us putting on things that are like Google Glass walking around in the real world and having pop up ads and notifications appear in our real life about other interesting things they they want to dominate our eyeballs and apparently tapping our phones isn't enough for them. Techie companies this is what is Google is in competition with the likes of gouda otherwise you know it seemed like that might be the case because Google had what was called cardboard where you could take a sip. Phone and slap it into sort of a piece of literal cardboard with some lenses cut out and access the Internet via virtual reality and other companies h t c a phone maker has some of their own stuff there's American companies a games company called valve that has some of these projects virtual reality is cooking because it's essentially taking cellphone parts and putting them on your face so they're saying oh these parts are kind of cheap we can try and be the next big thing but it's sort of weird where as some people look at it and say it's the future and other people look at and say it's a bulky thing on my face that makes it so I can't see anyone else in the room so it's really a toss up in my opinion I like the r. And I think it's really cool the things you can do that you can't do with a phone you can't do with a computer or a game system but I will absolutely concede that it is bulky and strange and weird and I think Facebook thinks they can throw enough money and people at it to make it smaller and convenient and cool like we want that to happen and they've got the money to spend who will be living in a virtual reality womb anytime soon oh I don't know about any time soon but I think Facebook has to they've got the war chest they just throw money at these crazy sort of things whether it's buying up apps or buying up startups I know they already announced something where it's a little hand sensor that tracks your your nervous system activity on your wrist in order to Tenshi control a phone or a virtual reality system once you have a war chest like that and you're under the eyes of investors especially in the United States people want to believe that you're trying to find the next thing to get people excited about the digital world and that's all Facebook is they want your eyes and so I do think something about augmented or mixed revert to reality could happen but it's got to be convenient grandma's got to be able to put it on and not immediately hate it and just to be could have we've been talking. To reacted to you this is the of a you know the old school type of. One of the sleuth in there we've been talking Yuna Oh my goodness we could go into such an existential. Dive into the depths of my soul with that question I will say though I have put on Wii our chat systems there's one called rec room which is very simple similar to what Facebook has another one that's literally called the our chat very simple name and what I find interesting is there are people who don't necessarily go out into the to the modern world due to disability or accessibility or all other kinds of stuff I've done in these rooms and talk to folks who have become super heroes in their own bodies and minds because they can put on a virtual reality headset and look like something else on the other side so I do think there's some positivity and some access to it that isn't all just creepy or terrible or dystopian thank you very much a rescue boat mask overaged who's a reporter who falls Technica and is charged who rise and been able to tell us about it Ok time to find out what's in the morning papers I've been speaking to Richard Lewis the deputy's boots news added to the day he's gross it's the spying show you miss that I don't see an interesting story. About Frank rampart on the lead. Because part of strand fee for decisions who earns the pile that was handed out this week was by storm. Last ability to score in a match of late tonight pro are often times clips it leaks a hit while one of the Philip lives down in shit but of course ramparts reference all this is referring back so they the great spy great scandal from last season when Leeds were called red handed outside Garvey's training crowds were not particles was in charge of Dobby. And Rampart is saying I don't think it's right the strike was a little news about Spike at the time the Cerne got. But when you go get a fair price in the side. And I think you sums out very well because that was a city grows a few aren't grounds this one it's a spying shame a very good headline and when you get must send o.b.l. So you get scandal. Even if it's not is making even when he's receiving awards is going to be a scandal it is and I think the white vote is talked about a very eloquently he's not ranting and raving he just is just talking about it. And he said I don't know who votes for it. To happen with spy guy and it was an extraordinary story wasn't it and. You know one that was such a rarity in English football. It's puzzling things do go on different countries and it's more accepted or or not like the level it was here but. Yeah and then to have to have the fair play would which are likely it was if it hadn't been for Spike I Yes You know I think this was a story might walk by just because it was something which. Will should be a bounce and not much resident but yeah it's surface and it's a good talking point on a Saturday morning on a good football weekend the Rugby World Cup is also talking points for many people it's heating up nicely you could say I don't know if anybody in terms of England supporters have begun singing rugby's coming home yet because a little bit from Georgia though. It isn't quite taking off I don't think just hear it with no match but. Certainly things and then the progressing and they've got to go further and told him because this weekend they said they're going to say the next opponents are didn't say your. Next Saturday is going to say the Australian well. One of those tonight is could be Australia could be England's quarter final So Jones story looking forward to it was a quarter finals our story says you know it's so contrary to the knockout stages of the transistorized to watch their potential quarter final opponents this weekend. Which is I suppose of course just as he says we will see the Argentina guy on the television. And exhaustion of the very good size. I mean you need to bathe them but he's looking ahead as well which is positive talk is positive actions because in the right very well. You know the strongest opponents but it was the wiring. 44 seventh's so yes warming up nicely learned for once and the rest that's all I'm and then who is saying you did a I'm not a races which is a lot of the Bible you know this is an extraordinary story which has been running since his last weekend it's been obvious over the Manchester City Star News report the experts expresses regrets out of it all just tweet I think close friend and see my pendulum end to black counting carrots. This happened last week in the push to International as we say I walked into a far storm off the poster picture on Twitter of many as a child alongside the character logo from a Spanish perfect print product. And it was. It was a joke and it was mean to us and your friends this I've been involved in is now written the Sie just sighing sighing that it's one that could still have consequences are not sure when the x. Rays judgement or whether they're going to this pretty certainly a story that's not much far from. One and the early game in the morning in the Premier League at least is Geoff Wood United losing live. Yes this is a terrific match trooper of course 100 percent records Talk of the tribe whichever you want to promote it back into the premier lake I want to caution this at least a shepherd United manager Chris Wilder must recycle. Is a lighter hearts but he has a Scouse blood in his violins and his dad is from Norris Green in Merseyside and uncle isa taking a young Chris to the copies of the great players game in Hughes and that many talk about how you stand in that car. Experience you know now he's a he's there as a manager against little. Chris water a few years ago when he was manager not really personal only is a really terrific terrific chat with him and what a great job he's done so I thought I could find a while with of course I spent on last weekend. Approving on stuff for the moment. Playing so well but equally This would be a really crappy match so I launched on to the. Paper of course reported when it straightforwardly You just never know for sure it's not our great sides and the shove you know I think manager is going to be one of the many issues of the season and he's not so off of the league obviously though accolade we go to you're going club you know in terms of not only Sheffield United taken some big Scopus but alls the way they play 3 consecutive football is like this is a lesson to anybody to comes up promotion from the Championship to the Premier League look at it look at how shove you know what you're going about it fearlessly . It was perfectly absolutely that coming so that covers the primary again. And I'm not playing with such confidence. But no concerns about. The possibility of going back down again or just either not talking a get them up also with a guy that's all going there made a late look a strong side or you think. Chris is starting that close call when what they're doing which is a very important I think needs a back in the Premier League or they're getting a very good early point so later in the season when brand when when the pressure heart stops but look back to the start of the say something well you know we've got guys important points that foundation which means you model have a struct like that for a guy when it really matters so yeah yeah very impressed so far which I cannot say you haven't got given up the whole season. And they must be worrying for the other teams who belong because obviously there isn't enough room in the Bradley league for 3 more teams coming up from the Championship next season and on a full you know usually you expect oh you know you'd be back you bank know you bet on some of the teams have been promoted to being going straight back down you can see the chef would you know at this stage can see that if they can keep up this rubble and wallow in something to give our greatness interesting both Shevardnadze and knowledge as well as this it's a lot of show that type of winning big matches so you've got to get a good point because if those 2 sides do stop it needs. To regular Premier League team could be on the way back on the charm indeed that's exactly the thought of making Ok and south I'm just goodly He's featured in an exclusive interview with you yeah we have an interview with him Angus gone I saw that was the great knowledge goalkeeper from the early ninety's wrong. And Angus is right in the impression one. In those young top young goalkeepers as I had lines I dealt with your doctor 20 years Arthur don't you know the Kochi maggots contravening Alys mum's negative reactions it is choice of career it actually start out as an on the not and I also plan to go to go into it someone comes in the clubs he says and offer that session someone told him to bring the glass next time a psych is on me and I go and they said his dad told his mom and that's response response that normally go for the family but it's gotten very well of course for him sometimes and. Get a good strong side out of them so I gather and this is a great match with coast because that guides us rich so approaching us old same and a totem side that got knocked out of a carbon copy in the wake by coach of star. Leading Leicester last weekend last of course in the season they were leading off slow and drew their leading Olympiacos and drew the pressure really is on spoilers because you know the suddenly Spurs mates who had a gun if nothing else or so hands were in good film so this could be an an absolute cracking cracking match a trick of the soft another. And a very potent one of the Spurs this one Richard Lewis of the Express. Your usual easy that and fans of comic books read joisting is recently golf the Sony Pictures and malevolent the 3rd Spiderman film with charm all and they had been fears that the 2 companies had pausing company such as make bought it now seems the new Dino as we were and dad divorced and is a Spider man see profession and the co-host of The Amazing Spider it's all Pod cost down on a scale of one to 1000000000 How excited are you. I'm somewhere close to 1000000000 Ok. 9 Under Armor going to work out. What exactly has been announced and why should we be excited Well it's really funny that is kind of taken on such a larger than life scale here because what we're really talking about is kind of the insider politics of 2 major Hollywood studios and and suddenly the lay person who reads the news or likes these characters is kind of keeping track of all of this I think all just because they love this version of Spider-Man and they want to see more of him interacting with the characters they like Iron Man and Captain America and all these other Marvel characters and you know a few months back we found out that Sony and Disney might not be coming back together to make this possible in that Sony owns the rights to Spider-Man in film and Disney does not and but they had the access to this Marvel Cinematic Universe and when that plug was pulled I think the outcry was so large that these companies kind of really had to find a way to work together again and that's really what we're experiencing here is we get at least one more solo spot and lead Marvel Cinematic Universe so the show must go on yeah I mean I think there's probably still room for the contract to be renegotiated after all that but people who saw the Spider-Man far from home movie this summer you know the movie ended with a major cliffhanger and to have that character kind of pulled out of that universe made very little sense after the whole movie told us he was the next Iron Man He was the next Tony Stark he was going to fulfill that legacy it's kind of hard to imagine fulfilling that legacy in another universe with the business spats disagreement. On tonk audio was between essentially d.c. And move essentially. Not particularly I mean in the comics that's the big rivalry right like d.c. And Marvel you know but in the movie business Marvel you know was filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in the late ninety's and so they had to like do something to keep their business afloat and so they you know through complicated and more complicated than we can get into here reasoning's their characters were kind of spread out over all these studios and now you know everybody loves Marvel but Marvel doesn't necessarily hold the rights to those characters anymore and Spider-Man's kind of the last big holdout and so it's you know Sony and Marvel like it's just fascinating because they're kind of doing something to not only appease the fans but something kind of her ROIC in the world of Hollywood to allow this character to continue in a world that so beloved by fans it's kind of unheard of in the world of Hollywood studios it's about the money those new vessels are very going to govern us for the for patching over any disagreements is about the money brings in well Sure absolutely and you know the reason it kind of fell apart is that Disney you know came back in the last 2 Spider-Man movies that they co-produced with Sony they were getting 5 percent of the share of the money and putting up 5 percent of the cost of the movie but then they were also getting merchandise money as well which is a lot mean these movies make more and merchandising they really do on the big screen and then they came back to renegotiate this deal and they asked for 50 percent and I think Sony was just like we can't do that but they've settled on 25 percent and I think both parties get to walk away and the next one's going to make over a $1000000000.00 So I don't think anyone could blink at that kind of money I suppose that's why they showed booze cruise no business no shows but we talked about the business as usual about the show what can we expect from Spider-Man 3 in this was rogue. Well I think you know if anybody saw the last movie there's a huge cliffhanger at the end of the movie and I don't necessarily want to spoil it because it's coming out on you know digital and Blu ray this week and I think that would be ashamed to ruin such a great ending but it's kind of wide open where it could go from here really departed from the comics in a very you know huge way and even fans like myself who've read everything really have not no idea what to expect moving forward and that was what was so exciting and so nerve wracking for so many fans that they might not see what that big exciting thing they were planning on doing in the future. Crucial his time on a home and to lose. Tom Holland you know his contract is really with Sony So if Sony decided that they didn't want to work with Disney anymore they could use Tom Holland for however many movies are on his contract so he was kind of you know his corporate daddies were fighting but he was going to go home with whatever father won the battle. So I think you know he based on his Twitter and Instagram this today he posted this kind of clip from Wolf of Wall Street you know celebrating that he would be remaining so I feel like you know he's all for kind of these things come together and nobody wants to get it get caught up in this kind of fan backlash and arguments like that it only stands to like kind of soil the character in a way so it's nice to have everybody kind of playing peace for just a short while longer you read everything moves a big story. A my favorite is from Amazing Spider-Man number 33 which is this one that has really kind of been done up in a number of the movies specifically in Spider-Man homecoming and it features Spider-Man pinned under tons of rubble reaching out for a cure for and may an illness that she has and he has to summon the strength to lift all that rubble over his head and and overcome all these obstacles to free himself to this powerful moment of great comic illustration and Stanley's and wonderful dialogue and it's one of the best the comics can be and that's why I love Spider-Man and it's been great to see it reflected in the film the late great Stanley downswings remerge who rose to the simplest Spider-Man super for a message for us thanks for visiting friends this go overboard with. This c.b.c. . The b.b.c. Need. On 5 life the police watchdogs been asked to consider if this should be a criminal investigation into Boris Johnson the Greater London Authority has referred the prime minister to the independent office for police conduct sever claims a friend and business woman was given favorable treatment when he was London's mayor Downing Street denies any wrongdoing as our correspondent Ben Chu explains they've said that when he was London Mayor Boris Johnson did a huge amount of work selling our capital city drumming up business all around the world everything was done with propriety and in the normal way they say privately however they're saying coming on the eve of the Conservative Party conference they're calling this a politically motivated attack Labor's says it will scrap universal credit if it wins the next election in a speech later the party's leader will say the welfare scheme which merges 6 benefits into $1.00 payment is inhumane or political correspondent Seymour. Jeremy Corbin would describe universal credit as an unmitigated disaster pledge to replace it he would be unveiling a fully fledged alternative No but you see he'd change some aspects of the current system as a priority his package of measures would include introducing fortnightly rather than monthly payments and ensuring no one has to which more than 2 weeks to receive benefits the government says Labor's plans are reckless Democrats have given the u.s. And of course my. Big weekend. And has. More than Henry and Joe how are you. Henry I've got to say it sounds a little bit. Of stances I can't sell I have away from a hole in a hole tell lobby I've got people walking past me shouting music in the back that's why apologize if it doesn't sound quite right guys will be your career was going so well and now you moon waiting is a concious. Help or you working your way and. That was. All for achieving all underachieving on the part that seen no wealth in this so much right about Spurs you look at the State of the training ground put you to know is one of the most coveted managers in the world because of fantastic players hurricane cetera but you just look at the mood to put your team has been setting in his press conferences particularly off to the defeats and he seems a little bit down cos he said yesterday he was still suffering and almost he was like depressed which was a strong word to use off to the Champions League final and good managers can tell our hangover like that to continue the call out of the uncertainty to actually come into the dressing room obviously that there were issues off the pitch 7 players you know speculations about their future important players when you think about a bar and an Erickson and an individual but also I thought was interesting yesterday he was talking about you know this on certainty and the players are going to work harder without the ball they're not pressing enough when you look at the top teams you know in the in the division.
