Which is only struggling up to one degree Celsius that's $34.00 degrees Fahrenheit b.b.c. Essex news and sport has come up to 7 minutes past 8 thanks Nick. With the new awards and Spencer I believe is b.b.c. And. It's a very divided picture across Essex as we were hearing snow in some parts absolutely nothing in other bits still being our Benson barometers this morning we're live in South End and Clacton keep us posted on what it's like where you are our reporter Pete wall because teeth were actually chattering live on air earlier sorry pain they were and he did do a snow angel and we've seen the picture as well a very good sport thank you pates we're also talking about other stories on b.b.c. Essex this morning this one is another exclusive a man from she bring us in a South End has told b.b.c. Essex that working in the Amazon warehouse in Tilbury was like hell he claims the working conditions with suds half this employees were regularly taken to hospital in ambulances were b.b.c. Essex reporter Rachel Humphries has met him right what more did he tell you. Well it's known as Amazon's fulfillment center a state of the art warehouse which I didn't tell Bray last year offering 1500 permanent jobs and it really appealed to hero Parra he was already working at a warehouse in Tilbury but was attracted to Amazon because of its well paid shifts in its company benefits but he claims and he's told me that the promises he felt were made to him in the leaflets in training sessions that welcomed him to the company just weren't kept he was contracted to work night shifts for $11106.00 an hour and his job was to scan items passing through the warehouse It seemed simple enough and he was assisted by what Amazon says was its cutting edge technology everybody possible use and so you lugging with that so they know where you are where you work in I mean in goes your store in shoes on the computer Iraq will come to logon you open the gates the robots will bring the being where you want to story goes so you start scanning the goods one by one put it in the bin then where's the bin is full then the robots would go in and being with Cong. So you the system the arrow is describing here obviously involves a robot I'm sure a lot of images come to mind when someone says robot but this one I've seen as bright as if it is a small orange box on wheels quite low down which transports large trolleys which is here in mentions move the products around the factory and Amazon says it reduces walking time for employees and speeds up the process in the warehouse but here is claimed that the robots were supposed to make it work faster but it would often break down meaning that teams needed to come out to fix them and he told me that he had a screen in front of him at his workstation at the warehouse which constantly monitored his productivity and when the robot was being repaired this would go down and he would fail to miss the targets that he'd been set he claims that made it very difficult to do what he was meant to which was to scan thousands of items a night we did our best to make the target and if he's busy enough us. Of minimal several 100 close to a. 10 if is be big and slow you down and I was terminally trio hundreds to $400.00. Erik claims that this very high pressured working environment left him and others around him feeling very stressed and often he says the conditions put people's health at risk lives is too much honesty is too much because some people do to cope sometimes they think. Different is happening there's a brook there leg so our father from the learned. Is like him every 2 days or every day says India between people to a hospital. Now I have spoken to Amazon who told me they have no record of any of member of staff breaking their leg at the tilbury warehouse but it was back at the beginning of November when here he says he himself had an accident he was a collecting packages and he hit his knee and 2 weeks later it swelled and he was unable to walk the house in a photo of it it did look very bad hero claims that Amazon were not particularly supportive when he was forced to take several weeks of sickly and he tried to claim during this time using the private health insurance he says he pays for each week as an arm as an employee but he was unable to get any money he came back to work because he needed the cash but long shifts meant standing up at me he was in a lot of pain and he was seen struggling to meet his targets again I was really. Upset learned disappointed because. Working person. Even though. I enjoy with the painter said go to the work. Or keep the the target going. Hero told me that things started to improve for him in January of this year but due weeks ago he claims that with very little warning his contract at Amazon was terminated he's now looking for a job and is still experiencing long term problems with his knee and he says he's very upset with the way he feels he's been treated by Amazon and during his time there I've contacted Amazon and they've issued me with this statement they said that they provide a safe and positive workplace with competitive pay and benefits from day one we are proud to have been able to create thousands of new permanent roles in our u.k. Fulfillment centers in recent years and they say that one of the reasons they've been able to attract so many people to join them is they offer great jobs and a positive work environment with opportunities for growth they go on to say that the pay rate for permanent Amazon Tilbury employees increases over their 1st 2 years of employment after which time all employees are 9 pounds 15 an hour and above all permanent Amazon fulfillment center employees are given stock grants which over the last 5 years they say were on average equal to a 1000 pounds or more pay year per person employees often offered a comprehensive benefits package including private medical insurance life insurance income protection subsidized meals and an employee discount which combined Armisen says is worth more than $700.00 pounds annually as well as a competitive pension plan I was in also wants to add that they do offer public tours at their fulfillment centers not Tilbury they say yet that is something they're looking into and you can visit you k. To Amazon Etsy Tools dot com to sign up if the public want to go on a tour of the factory Thank you Rachel Humphries B.B.C.'s 6 Reporter So what we heard from hero there was a description of what many of us might think is quite a modern way of working with robots is it the future guy Michaels is an associate professor of economics at the London School of Economics and he has studied the impact robots have on our economy Gar Good morning to you good morning are robots better at these jobs than we are. Well robots are doing useful work in some jobs I mean the main change in recent years at robots is kind of autonomous flexible machines that can move in 3 dimensions. Really made change in some workplaces the quality adjusted price of robots fell quite precipitously and as a result robot adoption has risen quite a lot from the research that we've done in 4 in 17 countries in 14 industries over time we find that industrial robots contributed roughly 15 percent of the productivity growth over this period is this good news for a soul for the future because he right claiming that in many cases the right but so bright in down and we're actually adding to some of the stress he was experiencing in his job. Yes I think there's no doubt that you know like all new technologies there are issues here and I think the you know the the the story is certainly a sad one and you know I think in some sense this notion of firms trying to kind of regulate and control workers is something that goes back more than a century to kind of Fordism and and Taylorism So I think that there are lots of important issues there in the way you know relations between employers and employees and this could affect hiring potentially regulation potential issues of market power. Over although robots although you know sometimes they do break down. They have been they have been important what what we see is that they contributed to reductions in Alcoa prices This means that consumers again as robots improve productivity and that's important some of the gains small a part of the gains go towards towards workers' wages at the same time I would say that it's not a completely rosy picture that we don't find any negative overall employment effects of using robots we do find that robots reduce the hours share of low skilled and low skilled workers So overall they seem to be mostly replacing low skilled workers Ok guy Michael is an associate professor of economics at the London School of Economics robots on our economy we heard about the pressures that here I was under who claims he was under the Emerson factory intil brakes and 16. V.d.c. And 6 travel and it's been so new with you until now I know B.B.C.'s 6 let's get the latest travel now with Russell. On the a one to 7 is I think probably the busiest route at the moment there's a queue all the way from this is on the coast down side from before really we're all the way into Southend that whole stretch is one mighty long queue it's very busy coming out of south end as well as far as the progress road I think is really where the front of the Kiwis is on the coast down side an accident by the Tesco roundabout but long delays coming from the towards there there's also accuses a coming out south end towards really the a 13 extra busy on the happy South End stretch as well in both directions and then there are some pretty heavy delays along Priory Crescent in south end as well that's been extra busy after number of vehicles have slid around on the hill been able to and I will to get up to Venice to get this from the traffic control they mentioned. Eastern Avenue partly blocked Crescent car sliding on the Hill there thanks to them for information about that it's also been extra busy on the route coming up from can feel has been pretty slow or certainly one of the 1014 very slow going along storms Avenue so that's been very very busy as well that's because of a breakdown causing delays from their old Sadler's farm interchange have delays coming away from Clacton as well northbound very very slow trying to move the speed sensor map up there to get the latest Yeah that's very busy all the way up to Willie and then the bit between Willie and hair green really slow in both directions bits of it but particularly going towards the a $12120.00 has been really busy as well there was an accident or breakdown I think it was it holds the cross busy there but it's further back at Wickes where it looks really slow and there are various patches of it coming towards Ramsey and then on to Wicks which is very very busy got some delays as well on the hill up into coal Chester also got to laze coming up towards culturist or on the b $1026.00 which is very slow coming up past. Blackheath is the at the bit that looks very very slow going towards there of a 12 as report of a breakdown going northbound So why from the junctions 15 to 163 mile hill together with I'm not seeing any delays there. Otherwise on the trains we've had a lot of disruption to see to say running a reduced service and to not offend Church Street greater anglers got no service between cultures to a cultist town they've also got a reduced service on the mainline between the pool street and knowledge it's also reduced service with stands at Express with tear fell rail between Shenfield and Liverpool Street and London Overground got no service between Chingford and Liverpool Street the next update is in 15 minutes. When a man says b.b.c. Essex travel. In him and this is b.b.c. Morning it's Ben fry and Sonny was in on b.b.c. Essex breakfast it's a 20 on this cheese day chilli February morning and a fascinating story we just had there regarding Amazon and the sensor in a particularly focusing on the robot side of things. I mean business is all about targets now isn't it and that's why I am is a makes so much money they made one and a half 1000000000 pound profits in the last 3 months of 2017 we'd love to hear from you if you've worked in a factory and had targets to reach out 302-4841 you can text one triple 3 Start your message with the word Essex but lots of you calling in still about problems because of the where the mat in. Food Good morning to you. Hello there good morning Matt Wade of B.B.C.'s 6 perish How are you sir I'm 4 so I'm all right I wish I could get on the train and get into London but I can't do that all right paints a picture for us what's it like then. So I can't even get into chances station at the moment it is absolutely rammed although strangely when I look up at the platforms I'm only seeing about 30 people up on the platform so they're keeping us all right down at the bottom. For safety concerns I'm sure and then eventually will go up but just looking at the trains I mean there seems to be 12 or 827 and then one not 2 until 909 so he's so you're not really half an hour you're not going to move in there is he not going to get anywhere fast then not now are not now not even actually been in the train station let alone up on the platform and on a train and what what's the mood like from the people you queuing with. People are saying that they've been overly cautious. And that it's that it's kind of madness really that they've reduced the service down so small. Like so quickly seems to be the C's 3 what people are saying and chatting about and complaining about is they ring their partners and say can you come and pick us up again after you dropped us off. Yeah I can imagine it's going to be not a great commute for many people on the rail Greater Anglia coming on in the next half an hour of the program here on b.b.c. Essex because of course they did before even a flake of snow would fall and announce they were restricting their timetable as of 10 pm Monday night so not many services in c. Went out of London on Greater Anglia B.B.C.'s it's reporter Pete Walker has got his snow shoes on he's out in about forests you're in Southend doing snow angels where are you know ole Pete he's I think he's he's trying to find a guest or 2 I think saying I was going to Southend but he's mentioned that it was pretty busy in Southend and pretty snowy as well let us know what it's like where you are 302-4041 how is the snow affecting you Pete Walker woken up pate. Benson I can hear you. Building a snowman I. Well I'm trying through the snow towards my radio cos on within the signal I was chatting to a woman at random. Cafe not remain uncertain right go on nothing like carry on pavement it was there was purely professional anyway since you last spoke to me in Southend of been on a mission to get to Canvey and ordinarily you think with an hour to do that that would be such a hard pressed task but now you know traffic is crawling along the sea front along the promenade odds and up a hill at Chalk Well it took about 20 minutes to get there one car after another was slipping and sliding and you know my teeth were chattering because the cold early My teeth were chattering out of fear and trepidation as to what might happen if one cos lies down the hill and crashes into the other so a dangerous situation being serious now in chalk Well anyway I'm now on the west end of Lee on sea high street looking at the crooked billet pub. And the train tracks are literally behind me literally a stone's throw and now in front of me I'm looking at the most stunning scene and there's about 5 photographers that I can see to the right and left of me trying to capture this because just as if you were to go up to toes Bre Now I imagine which is a beautiful boat yard if you've been over there I'm looking at yesterday towards the Kent side and Hadlee Hill my right and there's thousands of little glaciers moving as one towards the west and the thousands of the of the birds here that I know unique to this part of Essex don't ask me what they're cold and we've probably got 2 dozen boats Mord in the ice and snow and it's so still and quiet because of them it's a traffic moving right now but for the days we're trying that just went past is so still and quiet the cold is still making my hands and face very I don't hear it I have cause we're sitting here rather smugly in Chelmsford saying snow I was snobby there's nothing to see here but it is quite bad so if you need the cost isn't there . As you said it's a tale of 2 counties the coastline getting 34 inches of snow by the looks of it and minus 5 minus 6 months 7 degrees I was very skeptical in Chelmsford but a big greeted with a different world over here is really beautiful the benches a covered in snow in the in the hell it was well you can see on the bench and just in such still quiet miles yesterday. Ok paid thank you very much Rosemarie from Frinton and pull from Van did you want to say good morning to each other is going to want to run who. Writes I'm guessing one of you has now and one of you doesn't pull us for our number one who has not much smaller Spring Thing here in vans and probably. Would be much the same if our last resort so even if house stay would not turn nice not cover the growing quite a bit so what we've got this morning is not much more of that we just. Heard and this time Mr Vegas much the same but the 6 to 8 inches no looking like you probably were saying and up in Frinton a different story rise more I guess. Well I was going to write the trying to work I work in coaching and I check my phone and I thought every single train has been cancelled until about midday every single solitary trying so how are you getting to work now than if you had strong brave the right yes and I'm sitting in a queue. If you can imagine where the cantaloupe tickets are we I'm about a quarter mile back. So you still go find. Some way to go and you think it's justified the trying consolations No absolutely not I lived in Italy and yes up in the Alps and nothing ever came to a standstill. Nothing I mean this is just they've known for weeks this was coming and it's just pulling really I don't know what's happening to this country I think we just shame us out we really want to get that hard to try and forward plan I knew the weather was coming so I said all right it's probably going to be called Age So we're just going to stop that from happening and just cause a lot of the services haven't quite materialized in some areas as I predicted but that's the thing with the weather isn't it can be cooperate example. If I go but to try to get to the train stop in Sweden do they stop in no way to be stopping some to be in Germany Austria Switzerland why is it only ever in this country we get 2 centimeters the snow and I think. Rosemary study Saif thank you for calling she wanted to get the train from Walton into cold just a. Non Sarah from East would you in a snowy part of the county I think Sarah we show up and moaning then we'll need Sonya Good morning we've got a couple of inches of snow. But to be on a small husband we're seeing stupid town in London. For the fight in this sugar company and apparently I didn't have any snow it till yesterday and last snow I was sending him photos on whatsapp and he was a believe in May that we got he bad now you. Wouldn't think it from Chelmsford even nearer to where you are in Eastwood way that you I saw him show you we don't have much. But my don't supply side I'm quite proud of her she's attempted to get to school she goes to school with him right away and she's managed to get to school this morning and saw her school was that she reopened. I must say I don't like it sorry that I don't go I can't it's horrible. Probably because I'm shy my I to say on when an older person now but I'm so scared to go and ink I saw a split. It isn't the falling over though or as we heard from drivers that the cars spinning and that kind of danger I don't. Know if you look through to you when you look at the window but when you read it. Thank you there are several for me to add thank you very much let us know what it's like where you are only 302-4041 Ian says it's taken him an hour and 15 minutes to go from welling Garden City to Essex got in touch on Twitter. Switzer as well as just driven from hybrid to Romford the side roads in which were a bit of venturous but once out on the main roads it was fine there's no snow in Rome for the 12 is pretty much as normal says she's loving the show thank you very much so we've got coming up needs travel sports and Grace are only let's crack on. Essex that working in its 2 everywhere house was like hell the firm says the site is safe however here at Apollo who lives in Shubra national Southend has told this programme that the working conditions lead to many staff suffering from exhaustion and needing medical attention and a public consultation that's looking at the future of health care services in South and Central Essex has been extended the exercise is now remaining open until March the 23rd weather forecast for Essex very cold with plenty of snow showers some of which will be heavy. And prolonged temperatures going up to one degree Celsius $34.00 degrees Fahrenheit. B.c. And 6 travel it's sunny and Ben with a new sound for B.B.C.'s expect risk of bang up to date with the snowfall we've had in the east of the county Let's get the latest on the road for us a holding. Hi there ben they want to 7 is still partly blocked on the coast down side by an accident at the Tesco roundabout going into South End The keys have been back to around roughly where and also queues heading out of south into wards really as well plus the island $59.00 in Southend by Koku corner is partly blocked by an accident a 13 has been extra busy along the south end stretch each way as well as people try to avoid those long delays on the a one to 7 was a coming up from Clacton the been some delays as well because of a breakdown so coming out of the actually excited he's a little bit but it still looks very slow on some 70 around Clacton and also on the roads in the area looking really busy to a 133 specs to be coming up from a classic sense a little Clacton up towards Wally I want 20 a break then a horse to cross has been causing those particular the wicks area where it's been killing widespread disruption on the trains to greater anglers got no service between cultures different cultures to jail they've got a reduced service on a number of other lines in particular the main line from London to knowledge down to express running reduced service to so a tear fell rabbit when Shenfield in a pool street in c.t.c. Meantime coaches United Sammy says he was fuming when left out of the side earlier this season the usually ding scorer has been troubled with a back injury in recent weeks which has kept him on the sidelines but previous to that he'd been on the bench hours absolutely even when I'm on the bench not to percent still fuming because like you say every thought I want to play every single minute of every single game you know I have to sort out my professional move my mature head on so I put my advice a yeah a margin percentage that's what I have missed a couple days ago again financially before also strike a Ian Wright says he can't understand are some Venga remaining as manager be on the end of this season arsenal of lost 6 of their 12 games in 2018 with the latest a 3 no defeat to Manchester City in the fella come final on Sunday those things happening where we've also bringing out where I don't know what was the ball whether it is being totally undermined in respect of not being listened to is such a divide there now I don't think that we're going to have to see it play out and it's going to be interesting to see if he stays beyond the season because I can't see how he can actually make a case for himself staying on the Bennett cos Mavericks 3 game between Ronnie in the netball Super League has come to an end of the University of Essex last night they were beaten $6652.00 by last year's champions warships the Haffajee based card poses linked up with the women who campus to broaden their presence in the East they've Parry use the director of sport at the University of Essex says hosting the fixtures has been a big boost for the campus fantastic and so on us exporter arena 5 years in the planning and building and I think when we were going through that process we imagined events like this taking place so to see that actually happening now it is amazing you know and when you keep I just love says Ben Stokes will only improve with more cricket after returning to the side in the one day series against New Zealand. Stokes missed the sewer of Australia and appeared in court this month from a charge of a Friday falling in incidents outside the Bristol nightclub in September Bala says having the all round the back is a big boost to the side's fantastic for everyone it's fantastic for Ben to be back out playing and and doing what he does best so you know he's with the ball in the field and I've seen the change in him as well is such a presence such a huge part of the side so we're delighted he's back in and you know probably you know he's probably quite nervous you know coming back in with his 1st game so I think get out of the way in see him go from strength to strength and that is the in a wicket keeper just part of that he's b.b.c. Essex news and sport for now there's more from me and 9 thank you Nick. Danielle and Greg. Is b.b.c. And. 37 on b.b.c. Essex breakfast with Ben and Sagna let us know how the snow is affecting you 302-4041 stay safe if you're in the snow if you have to go out on a journey drive safely keep warm if you are deciding just to stay indoors today Matt gave us a call on b.b.c. Essex I 302-4041 is our number to site complete nightmare at Chelmsford railway station the Smalling we know Greater Anglia restricted some of its services from 10 o'clock on Monday nights in light of the fact that we are getting this beast of the east this cold snap and possible heavy snow showers and quite a few of you have rung in this morning to say why we cancel in all these trains when the snow really hasn't been that bad let's have a chat to someone who might be able to answer that question Jonathan Demme beat from Greater Anglia Why did you cancel the services then Jonathan Well as you know the focus was very severe it is very cold in some places it has been snowy what was important to do. Was working with network was to be clear what this we were pretty sure we could run regardless of the forecasts condition so therefore we thought it was important to give people confidence of what services we were going to be able to run and therefore in advance go out and put out the realistic timetable the fact that we felt we were sure we could run regardless of the condition the even if it was severe across the whole county if we had to have the levels of heavy snow that was predicted in the end it's buried as to how much snow there is in different parts of the region and the entire service itself one of the other considerations is also about the network well being able to keep the lines open and get people to places to ensure that signals tracked another another point and things like that are all sort of kept in good condition and kept safe and really about trying trying to be realistic and therefore we we were very clear about this is the time to move confident we can run and therefore that people can plan ahead around that the forecast was bad I agree it's not turned aren't as bad in places such as Chelmsford can you know run the normal service on those on our part of the line. So we are engineers over and working with Network Rail to see if there is any opportunities to add an extra service is the issue that will be a bit about how far you can mobilize places and affect the service going through the rest of the day and ensure that then you can deliver it throughout the rest is that at this stage. The current timetable the revised timetable will run if it's possible to add in the exercises that will do so but at this stage it's the same timetable that we've planned do you think this is all a bit premature right now you've got a forward plan you need the weather was potentially going to be bad but I mean the some headline today great British like of you know do you think we've gone a little bit too early with some of these restrictions. Well I think the challenge is about being being clear with people and not getting and ending up with people being stranded or being misled. So yesterday it's always really in hindsight to say well you know in certain places it's not raining as serious as predicted but yet we don't know what's going happen for the rest of the day or tomorrow so it's a difficult one I think to get given the temperatures and just how cold it is and it's going to continue to very selectively Dave that it was not a good idea for a Network Rail suggest they could keep lines open and then have people go out there and then if we bring in the more difficult scenario of finding the people stranded in places in very cold conditions that would have been clean responsible but it is a difficult call we didn't do it lightly on balance we felt the right thing to do was given sort of rose. About what what lines they could keep open and honorable service was to go with a revised service and run run run matters whereas we 1st if there is enough in it it's a room or trying to do so but without it's best to give people a clear message and be very clear about what it was we could run apologize people have had of had sort of crowding on services this morning is it possible to put in extra services we will but for the money for the moment we will continue to run the results timetable Jonathan Franklin Jonathan Demby from a Greater Anglia revised timetable continues due to the cold weather but we've seen the pitches from Jump Street Station this morning no line people into the platforms because trains down to about between one and 2 an hour and then be saying that they didn't take the decision lightly they going to continue to run that revised timetable because those temperatures are going to stay pretty cold and a difficult balancing act to decide how they go with it in response to the fact that maybe they did go a little bit see where we were Pick premix your Perhaps in announcing these restrictions to services Brad is in Clacton we had a few callers from Clacton this morning it seems to be the worst hit area in Essex in the traffic in particular but around there Brad what do you want to say. Yeah we've got about a good morning to you guys how you doing or in your nice warm studio today. Especially right about 2 inches of snow I think. Traffic's moving Currently I'm doing about one mile an hour trying to get packed and 'd. So I'm hoping that 12812 are behaving themselves as it was I think. Doing too bad but it's it's going to take you yeah quite a stressful journey to get to that point I think you are just trying to long in the car and just listen to gauge so I'm sure we find that take me for a minute so far. And I've done about for maybe 2 miles in my house you know in a very. Broad you can just turn around. Now I will say so I'm sure we are grown so I need to make every effort to get into work unfortunately we take it easy thanks for listening to b.b.c. Essex as well Brad lovely to hear from you let us know what it's like where you are 03024041 quick word on accent because we spoke about that little while ago John in heart and it's not so much the accent I think it's bad grammar that seems to become acceptable I the number of times you hear we was these days in Essex and it's accepted and never corrected this is not acceptable in business and reflects badly on the company we were speaking about that because of the man who was asked to take elocution lessons to work for a London banking firm because of a less exact sense your boss is in London saying if John was to do these big presentations to clients maybe it would be better if he kind of times down the accents a little bit and brought up some interesting stuff and whether there's a prejudice about the Essex accent in particular and people are a little bit snobby about it all in this one he says automated telephone system struggled to recognize and understand my Essex I hate those ones where you have to talk into them and you know awful awful let's talk gritting and they also from Essex County Council and he described the operation that you had to go through last night's. Well the critics were around 3 songs last night runs. In I am and again a clock and then there was a further run like turned around and went straight back out at about 4 in the Smalling ready for the rush hour and we know obviously the other coastal areas in particular centering around Clarkson being worst affected by the snow so they are going to go out and just do the changing area again a little bit like holding the warming up it will encompass say right now but so far so good. In the bins stocks are fine to deliver a show children so we will consider what we do on the network to keep it moving good stuff and thank you feel. Talking about huge gritting operation being in place across Essex County is likely to continue and b.b.c. 6 is very un-P.C. Walka 1st hand experience of just how cold it is this morning a picture in which it is only a 12 page. I just mentioned earlier that the I 12 in or I actually. Bore an area between Boron and stock and I meant the places. That disappeared when moving up. In price in the manner. Of an accident. Really. Simple remarry apace. Between Well I'm actually. Very very boring and Ok We're not like we don't move into. An accident or something so you going along. And. Now London London the problem Ok Thank you Peter let's get a full round up. C.c. Essex travel lots of problems to talk about potentially then his Russell holding now the biggest one I think the a one to 7 that's certainly the biggest cue that I can see on the speed sensors at the moment the snow really been causing a lot of chaos to slip around all over the place the bit going from really where that is but beyond ready when all went south end is queuing the other way just a bit of a queue as you come out of south and towards progress road but there was an accident on the eastbound a $1.00 to $7.00 they have cleared that now but there's also a breakdown now in Victoria Avenue going down towards Victoria that's working very busy in the 11 59 o'clock you corner partly blocked by an accident that has been causing delays I think there's been more than one accident a long record to get here early or about castrati on the Hill a 13 has been extra busy between South and unhappy with people trying to avoid a one to 7 had delays all around can be especially Psalms Ave coming up from Canvey because of a breakdown got some delays on the a 133 coming up from little Clacton Well sort of from plankton up through little Clacton has been extra busy all the way up to Wally in fact is beyond we all work towards the sort of ravens green hair green area on the sick you coming off the a $120.00 down towards there too which is looking very very busy other problems that we've got include the a $120.00 around Wicks which has been very very slow towards culture you should liaison roots into conscious like avenue of remembrance and also clean go Hilton Hotels not too bad because resorts and Andrew Zaf any other routes in all looking very very busy towards cultures to Braintree bypass normal to lie there a 12 a can see. Coming from helpful Pepperell towards ballroom does look rather slow it was all right when I did the bulletin before though I think coming to work Chelmsford very slow along. Parts a weird for Greenbury way looks rather busy towards there too nothing too out of the ordinary to the Brentwood very busy and 11 from about halfway between the m $25.00 a junction 5 at Loughton looking slow and low to train destruction because the weather is well great anger got no service being cultures different cultures down there got a reduced service on a number of lines especially the Norwegian London on the main line stance Express running a reduced service so it's c.f.l. Rail and c.t.c. Into and out Fenchurch Street the next update is in half an hour. This is b.b.c. O. 6 years more than road. That's a. We don't know David David I'm really not David Essex are you saying you are not David as you can. Tell you there is no wound up in minus 6 when I woke up this morning and it's now warmed up to minus 5 we've got about an inch of snow and it's absolutely brilliant sunshine blindingly brilliant sunshine see the sunshine I like the temperatures not so much cold you can go out and it later probably oh you don't have to go by the sun you know why why might you go out in it then just pop down the shops to get some bread and some milk and so on you're it in a ravioli Thank you. If you were listening earlier a lot might involve the Early in times of crisis a tin of ravioli can can help that went through the things she must have in tons of snow and then also that wasn't even top of the list you said 1st turn around the island yes stuff along with you but it isn't milk because otherwise you can't have Ravioli on toast without the bread but yeah Ravioli was top of the list bed so I bought him another I bought him another one yeah thank you Alan let me ask Dalen friends and it's snowing again on top of the 2 to 3 inches already settled Helen says could you in and so know that due to the school closures and adverse weather that heritage food bank is closed today Kevin I'm old and it's complete hysteria I can't live without the constant dialogue just get on with it without the fuss go on talking to a friend in Wisconsin in the States for I think who is laughing at us well yes we do sometimes become a little bit of a laughing stock when it comes to the weather but we you know a centimeter seems to be enough these days to cause a bit of chaos Peter Walker i Reporter is experiencing this for himself 1st hand where are you paint now. Good morning again Benson I am stopped on Ben fleet road in Hadley my mission to get to Cambie before 9 o'clock is had to be revised heavily because traffic is probably 1000 percent slower and I am parked. Outside a key fitting service locksmith u.k. And I'm going to speak to one of the guys and they're clearly making me a cup of tea at the moment I want. To tell you from some words a charmer a nice paint I think the b.b.c. Name helps it's not me it's the organization I see the b.b.c. And get very excited when you have a lot of these once you've been out about because I seem to notice their running theme this morning just like impromptu me because I did I did speak. And she just walked a child to primary school I was hoping that the school would be closed it wasn't and she's trudging back through the snow didn't speak to me on air though so I was he didn't charm or enough but let's go into the into the locksmiths here and space this gentleman here is colleagues just making me a cup of tea or thanks very much for agreeing to do this good morning morning how you doing I'm very well can you tell me your full name yet Kiran crying and Kiran are you the boss here I won the partners and can you tell me a tiny little sound bite about this business you know or family run business trading for 25 years without a shop on the road open after 6 years in local communities and business secure themselves and the name of the shop Ok I asked the locksmiths are you expecting the snow to affect business this morning we're going to. We had a lot of people in yesterday try to get their jobs and it done before the snow sets in but for us the traffic out of the shops was a good advertisement lots of people seeing us here still open from our fighters mall and was it difficult for you getting to work yeah it was challenging you know normally we live kind of coming across Hadley's been a node up so covered or safe and honestly to avoid as much as we could. So how long did it take you about half an hour 10 minute journey. Like that So not only do people go down the shop to get a loaf of bread in case there's no dinner they come here a day early to get their key source it nice that is prepared Thank you Peter Walker of our m.p. Talking snow angels and charming the people across Essex in the snow this morning on the tanks Paul says Good morning Joe what's this costing the economy we still don't Arctic and warfare training in Norway minus 20 degrees we knew the weather was on its way Janet wants to know the Benson email address it is Benson b.b.c. Doc I don't you can you send us your weather pictures Janet will have a look later we had a look at those who put them up on our Facebook page Ben space so on if you want to send us a friend request Maureen in Billericay lovely sunshine Greater Anglia reduced its service to control the amount of the loan repaid claims they might have to pay interesting point there has texted one triple 3 please spare a thought for many who have problems keeping warm inside their own homes and often have to stay in one room you know everyone can keep warm and comfy indoors a very good point well made bath Joyce says so many jobs have included their headlights it's so dangerous Bob in Rochford just to let you know it's snowing again in Sutton in Rockford on top of the 3 inches we've already had on the farm Barry snow free Hartford over the border in the winter of $962.00 to $63.00 we had lots of 48 in minus 4 for the I didn't use a minus temperature for weeks trains ran normally people are encouraged to use them stave in freighting or to talk about trains to morning stave. Only this is not much help. To try and I can say that I've seen. Crossing very frightening level crossing on the way in white back to school bus and they were going to. Take you know who. Is quite impressive because unlike. You know road users who go to Kate Spade they can sort of still going quite. Fast but I seem to be trying to swing so I think there's a consolation there on the cafe on the Clapton or the Walton Bronx lawn then heading into concert yes that basic act I'm on yes that's the crossing just outside cultures to pass. For the next one is great then they. So yes we were both quite a speeding ticket not quite very. Interesting to have to say here I had to wait at the freighting level crossing for. Numerous I mean honestly because not only barely talk to my mother about it but it is one of vantage you know trains running in crossings that. Tell that to the people of jobs one station this morning. Given taken seller plenty of time give us an update case we've all had of course some of us have had a fair bit of snow others haven't what's in store for us much the same now the line of showers which has been playing east side of the county this morning continues at least for a time we've got one or 2 drifting a little bit further west but most part is the eastern side which being was affected and the Met Office towers and the weather warning in place and till May Day and then the yellow weather warning takes over for much of the county through the afternoon so far the snow showers expected heaviest in the lighter ones in the West if any at all but other places we have a gene clear sky it's absolutely stunning but the temperature is very very cold we're at minus 4 at the moment our temperatures are going to rise too much as we head through the course of the day we're looking at a maximum of maybe one Celsius more likely going to stay around minus 2 but factor in the north easterly wind which is urging the showers in it's going to feel much colder no way to not get some clear spells at 1st but then heavy snow showers some Again could be quite heavy and prolonged very similar to the ones we had last night they form lines are tracking in the same direction minus 5 the minimum so bitterly cold start tomorrow and for the snow showers expected to through the course of Wednesday at least through the morning they'll become a little less frequent in the afternoon driest spell then but the temperature is going to be hampered by a strengthening easterly wind it's going to come quite strong 3 to Maurice not going to make things feel much worse if you look at the temperatures minus 30 the marksmen temperature to more during the day so not getting into positive figures at all and factor in that strong northeasterly wind is. Going to feel more like minus 6 to minus 10 fed I know it takes saves feel feel it's not natural number it's the feel like temperature say yes really very very cold and this cold weather continues through Thursday and Friday some uncertainty about the forecast for the end of the week but at the moment is the light fare the snow falls expected later on on Thursday and into Friday as well coupled with the strong easterly That's it thank you I said Ok thank you to add a nuisance all you need on a snowy morning is Benson and sledges season listening to us with a sledge as well excellent they'll be available in all good shops you know along with the Benson barometer 999 Thanks for joining us we're back to my friend 689 is next thanks very much indeed Well I didn't easy driving actually because it came from the West accounting is that clear but we've sent Peter off now we're going to find out what it's like up in Clacton for you and keep you up to date with all the news on this now we want your pictures as well yourself is a view in the snow please we're going to be talking about and Demetrius later in the program loads to talk about we've got my bracket List But 1st of all it's David Essex is the good a 6 man and we're going to be playing some of his hits and speaking to him live on air all that.
