I don't know actually because it was in the kitchen when we moved into the house so it's at least 4 years old right I think it's a lot of pain in the same house as a mentor for nearly 20 years and it was new then so mine's monster in Iraq just 20 years on. So after this I have actually. Microwave. Franklin Ian Why is this is the b.b.c. Ethics Good morning Monday's show with you B.B.C.'s 6 until 9 it's amazing what topics we find ourselves discussing each day B.B.C.'s comes to talk it was in our paper a few earlier that one lady has had the same gas oven for 59 years in Yorkshire so great we wondered how long. You've had yours and if we can find an album or any white goods in the kitchen longer than them 59 years it's pretty good going there isn't it coming up after We're going to be talking about the much Syria topic of knife crime another teenager has been stabbed in Essex at the weekend how do we stop our young people carrying knives Stay tuned for that after 8 and in this hour we'll hear from the moms who lost their sons when a police pursuit went wrong it's the 1st time they've spoken about the tragedy here that just after $730.00 but next how long will you be queuing in traffic jams across the county to day is it just part of your daily life your daily routine is it time to change the way we manage congestion tolls anyone 03024041 is my number let's talk traffic. If you knew why it's easy piece to. Get to the time as you are sitting in your car driving along this morning or queuing as we as we might well be how much of your life do you think you spend in your car queuing at traffic lights or in congestion in a small confined space crawling along in gridlock traffic all the while of course listening to B.B.C.'s that's the best bit according to government figures from 2016 drivers in. Southend spend an average of 30 hours a year in rush hour jams chum's 40 ns it's more like 23 hours a year still a lot love isn't there a whole day of your year go on or more just sitting in a traffic jam so how bad is it where you are and how long are you spending in traffic jams Well Phil spread bro has been a taxi driver in Southend for 6 years he's drove around the county for 40 years before that as a heating engineer and Ian Grundy is the cabinet member for highways on Essex County Council fields in the studio and Ian's on the on the phone good morning to both of you morning. Morning morning Phil let's start with you then 6 years as a taxi driver how much of your life do you spend on the road. An average of about 4 working with broke within hours lunch but it's an issue that's of growing concern to me regarding the for liberation of traffic that is now coming to the roads combined with the. Massive building programme that South innocent Socan we're talking about $7500.00 extra new to links of the next few years before that by the amount of vehicles that will go along with this is becoming a big problem that is growing it's a great concern to myself regarding the flow of traffic and proposals from south in council regarding how they're going to manage the traffic in the future how out of those 12 hours or so that you're at about how many of those are you literally going nowhere you describe LNG along in traffic that is largely dependent on course and some of the day or so on of the Ning traffic Russian are always the becomes that emotional congested it becomes more difficult to move. The. Date to quantify or in time very difficult. Say About 10 to 15 percent of the time on station should say but then again obviously then if you get a hot sunny day and you try to access parts of the seafront and other parts of the town then it becomes more difficult is it worse now than when you started 6 years ago all of notice props an increase of something between 15 to 20 percent. Amount of traffic on the road because the council have done quite a lot while it's being reshaped a lot of the I want to the roundabouts not the traffic lights have been remodeled over those years so is that not helping Well look I don't want to cost in a pejorative on the council guarding the programme of the road network there are some things that I've done being quite good and have helped the flow of traffic that there are being other things that are not quite so good however what I would say is what is not quite so good is a proposal at a roundabout where it's at the cutting that goes a flow traffic through the town to the to the seafront Queensway Queensway that was the Queen's way do you talking about him as opposed to fill that in and shut the straight roads off now reasons best known to them which we've yet to find out as to why they want to proposal this is yet to be saying. However that our fear will be disastrous for the town in terms of moving traffic Ok let's bring in Grundy in a in your cabinet member for highways on Essex County Council so of course you don't deal with Southend roads who are a unitary authority So broadening it out to the rest of of Essex How do you think Essex highways are doing to accommodate the clearly increasing amount of cars we have on our roads. Yes hello good morning yelling that want to kill it is of course increasing it is an increasing challenge and problem for us and there's no doubt about it that good gesture cost the county a $1000000.00 spans of year. What are we doing about it Well we're certainly getting putting a lot of time into technology we we have our Traffic Control Center which monitors cameras various cameras around the county 13 hours a day. We've got we're offering a lot more working hard to produce introduce more sustainable trap traffic options such as cycling and in force of the bus lanes. And my colleague Kevin councilor Bentleys is working streaming our government to get infrastructure improvements done and that's causing would include the a $1.00 to $7.00 and the a 13 clinking in to fail when the thing is as its population rises and houses increase even that there's only so much space isn't that I mean take coaches to for example like North Station roundabout in that area this huge amounts of houses being built in the area and on the roads are a set saris we can't do anything about whack em we know it's a very again another very challenging situation we can't do anything about the population growth of course which is a very natural thing and we've got to see got to build more houses but is very important that we get the infrastructure to sort of keep pace with that and we're we're well on to that but without kind of concreting over every spare bit of green space we have how do we increase the infrastructure to deal with the amount of housing the targets are all set for Yes Well this this this is where we. Miss expounds Council we run 3 parking rights for example they they have currently something like over $800000.00 users a year and they're the sort of things we've got to encourage people to do we've got to in charge. But wanting coach stuff and it's very important that we get those could be utilized to get people to use those using public transport a lot more trying to encourage people out of their cars into public transport The thing is sometimes I know you have to pay for your petrol that can be a lot and maybe parking but but using the bus if you have a bus pass that's great but if you haven't to mean public transport is not always a cheaper option now I appreciate that and one of the things we're certainly trying to do now is to encourage the buses to build up confidence with the public to use buses and that's why we have these bus and also on lanes now gaining coaster and indeed in jumps that. Just to try and build up the reliability of the bus service and people can use them. And yeah I mean if they don't regulate enough in on time it doesn't encourage anybody to do you know if there was a bill in the House of Commons before the election asking to give councils the power to run their own bus services would that be something that Essex would consider well it's not something that I personally can comment on it because it's sort of it's very much under my colleagues councillor a Gooding's portfolio but you know obviously it's something we would look at these are enough money being spent on our roads I mean you know you only have to look at the amount of potholes we still have if we can fill in potholes how can can we have confidence you know in getting the technology and the investment to sort out the gridlock what we spent over a lot of money on getting our survey our main a Rose Bay roads anybody'd our leaving our local roads. Over the last few years and we 'd will continue to do that potholes are of course a continuing challenge but when you've got road to the built on clay you get subsidence all the time except to set term bad weather you're always going to have the all possible but we we're doing our utmost to get on top of those and get them done as quickly as possible so in a few words what's the single most important thing to do you think in terms of tackling congestion in Essex I think innovation I'm very excited about technology there's an awful lot in the pipeline which can which will help enormously just just 11 example when we were converted some $40000.00 streetlights and then by the beginning of next year most of which will be smart street lights that will enable us to put things software into those to measure traffic and be able to update our traffic apps and all these types of exciting things measure. So road temperature. So there's a lot of exciting things in the pipeline you know I hope within a few years people will see a huge amount of difference in the way we can control traffic Ok in Grundy thinking that technology is the way ahead he's the cabinet member for highways and Essex County Council just a very quick final word with Phil spread by a taxi driver in Southend he's been driving around the county for years in any case we have more toll roads Filomena across Europe they do What about charging people to use the a one to 7 I don't wouldn't be in favor of that it's for. The massive amounts for paying in car taxes at the moment I don't really see the need for it's already cold just just take it up on his point just quickly from now I don't think street lights and warming the roads up will be going that far into sort of easing congestion just talking south into the local level we've got a unique problem because we have got a 90 degree sort of coastline it's not just before you got 23 hours in a car and chunks of because you've got 360 degree flow through so we've got a unique problem with that as well so when you're at the end of the line you've got to at the end of the long about how to get in and now good to speak to you say driving today in the taxi spread breast say hi to Philly for if he picks you up today Governor should receive Asics travel thanks to Grundy before that 17 minutes past talking of the road says Russell holding up morning in the m 25 accident now clear anticlockwise between junctions 24 and 23 from Potters Bar to the a once woodlands are back open but they're still to laze away from Junction 26 of them a bit towards there that I'm just looking at the speed sensors now look at the delays into stretches there's a queue going towards and past junction 26 at Waltham Abbey that's it's way back to 27 the m 11 and it's easy to have head away from 26 then after 25 part while you've been 2500. And pot is Boston a little bit slow but the front of the delays are clearing up pretty quickly as Elaine blocked on the m 11 southbound junctions 9 to 8 from the 11 to the Bishop's Stortford Stansted Airport past an accident that's been looking very busy a-Q. Coming down away from junction 9 about 3rd of the way to white and it all clears up then the further down from just before 5 at Loughton to the North Circular looking very slow there is the usual delay only a 13th through going to the back of the queue starts before March and I know that it's not back to ferry lane yet almost as it won't be long before it gets to their a 127 at Taunton while it's the slope towards London the through the road works how old were they 13 at Stanford hope looks a little bit busy and then the you should later on the Braintree bypass culture Strad out of their house did and also the Tate and 17 it's all heading and looks very busy towards Halsted as well the next update is in half an hour thank you very much Ross also is the answer technology to dealing with traffic congestion. Keeping you informed when it matters c.d.c. Essex travel. How congested are the roads near you do you think we could come up with some sort of a blueprint here what would you do where you are to cut congestion because clearly if we're spending in some cases 30 hours a year in a traffic jam mean that what a waste what a waste of our lives we waste we giving away over a year over a day every year just to to sit in a blinking car or a van in a traffic jam but what about the money that costs now if you add up the collective waste of time that people are wasting in traffic jams it's millions and millions and millions of pounds just in Essex So what would you do where you are to ease traffic 03024041 where are the hot spots where you are and maybe you've got some thoughts on what our guests were saying is Toll roads more of an answer. Can we charge people to use roads to encourage them to use other roads but then if there isn't a choice I mean in certain parts of Europe you can pay to use a road but there's always a free alternative Well if you're going to charge me to use the a 12 there is no alternative is there puffing going through all the villages and how's that going to help congestion 03024041 it's a pickle I know but try and try and help us with it good news today weather wise no snow today any overnight rain in the south of the county will soon ease maybe it already has fingers crossed generally a bright day it's too dark out there to see at the moment sunny spells are coming and the best of these will be near the coast maximum temperature today 9 degrees Celsius 48 Fahrenheit the high tide times today Herridge at 14583.8 meters West Mercia 3rd 15184.7 meters and Southend on Sea high tide this afternoon 1544 at 5.4. If these theories the ethics is very just potter about what we have to do indoors in the garden do you have in the Bible there are so many different ways you can listen to the p.c. Ethics or your digital radio on your smartphone on tablets on Freeview channels 73 fold found online you can also follow B.B.C.'s Exum social media you know so many different ways you can listen to b.b.c. Essex Wessex comes to talk. In your car in a traffic jam somewhere to listen so if you were in charge what would you do because it's easy to not close the op but what would you do if you were in charge of the county's roads What would you do 1st 030224841 we'll speak to Jenny on Canvey in a moment 1st let's go to break Good morning Barry 'd. Ok Barry you probably spend a fair bit of time in traffic there. Oh yeah. Into. The traffic but every rogue reporter. Every day mentions the trouble only once went to. Spain and no I may have some people around there for many many years straight from Stein's state. And that was wonderful it's really good I remember the opening Yeah I'll take some drawing treats. Them into a single line so there's a massive. They can't seem to get. Something done about it they were going to do this for get to that been enough in every material and color is particularly become a joke in. Them Because because this child bugs from our own. But the thing is buried with that cholesterol corner they call it on the head and that's because of all the fast food restaurants on it all because of the traffic but the I mean that at that point they want to it is still June on the other side of that roundabout so. It's a problem isn't it and roundabouts own waste always leading to traffic. For. People trying to get into the. Posh untrusted lots on there but not on the run that by itself which you just don't have to come in from which they have a trust. In the morning you want to have a massive load going straight Paul said allowance because trucks coming back the way they don't seem to do that I haven't got the traffic on the roundabout itself to help the flow of traffic right and against the other end where most farmers. That's when he jumps from 2 lines into one single inch all the way to my. And that's when the major from both cages all got stuck in an accident coming back last year all stopped before all the Muslim round left 4 hours because of the next than any single line so you couldn't get past all the direction and it banged up everywhere. So it's a must if problem there but I think you want to throw money at the I 12 which is serious trade lines already slowing pretty well realistically rather than upgrade in a single line carriage why there's a massive east or west routes Well they are talking about I mean there's there's been lots of talk hasn't there none and I think we're at the stage now of choosing a preferred route out way for the new jolting of the I 120 from from that section. To coach but it's coming slow for Barry in brain drain and Barry need that section I mean we call it cholesterol corner where you've got you know the fast food restaurants and you go off to the free pour out of town shopping center and you can get to with him there it's a massive roundabout so I can understand where there's a lot of traffic there but the key issues both times you know morning and night well and most of the afternoon to be honest the Russia seems to start at 3 these days doesn't it what could we do about that roundabout Barrie wondering if the traffic lights could be facing better or more traffic lights maybe we have traffic lights on each of the roundabout entrances and exits and so to control the flow of the traffic a bit better thank you Barry 302-4041 what would you do if you were in charge Jenny from Cam is with us now good morning Jenny. What's it like there. School and all. About how. July's of the the post does to kindy why vent about. We really teenager says was also can see now this is the main issue since I was about 12 and I'm knocking on 17 and . It's kind of a neat said. Because it isn't just does the kind of Ivan. Watson is no longer is any less silly was called the skull why would sifting through those not with it because on the back of the lot how high than any piece of 4 rises so why would you have to assume an if if it is an age where would you put it Jenny think will the more the nails and the access road also scans a across note with losses now if it's because it went along the l. Because he was grandpa's Lois's across the bow was now coming at somewhere vanity Stice in office or on Atlanta why then it take the whole all of these or alternatively routes the other end of the island from the point across stoutly into Wesley since Athens I mean then they must be wise to get another out of the saw and because. So you'd like to see the road going like further up the I 13 or even the other direction to towards towards late. When i just going to say what would you make make of that people if they would you like your. Extra traffic coming in to lay in as we heard the roads in and Southend already congested Thank you Jenny no interesting thought a 3rd drug has to be done says Jenny to can be traffic Well it can be going to growth going to have more houses more development more people on hand he has got to be more white on and off the island 302-4041 let me move on so I want to speak to John who's in South and as we've been talking about South and this morning being a bottleneck with the South and Taxi Driver John can you relate to that oh I. Was just stuck in the seventy's there was a guy I could never write he wanted to develop. The local council. And he was going to build a. If anyone remembers page. That was the day I was it for building the houses he'd build the houses and put in writing. On the parts of the refinery being closed down so I. Was not back. However. I got every guy who ever came up with that. I need to get that. Break. In the river. In the last 3 months. When it takes me less than an hour and a half. Hour. Between 2 journeys stuck in traffic just to go to. There are no direct trying to. Actually. Have to change. A lot sometimes but it's. All right. I think we regulate overly much to live how many times it gets the public's eye on the road that I rely on. I'm very you know not 'd running like you know for people to actually act that might be. Ok John in Southend So we're just on a little calculation that's more like 30 hours a month John is waiting and wasting sitting in traffic jams and John saying green nationalize public transport get back and well this is what we were putting to in groundless idea that the the bill in the House of Commons before the election asking to give councils the power to run their own bus service. Or going along those lines really giving councils the power to run their own bus services so they could perhaps put roots in that might not be necessarily that profitable initially but would get people out of their cars and in 2 buses but councils already subsidize bus routes that they say in the evenings and on Sunday he's. Kind of already doing that so why are there still so many people wanting to use their cars rather than the news the public transport that is there 03024041 just one text for now I've got loads to mention but let me just mention Bob who says Ian Hi If you want to ease congestion reinstate the school buses that were cut by the council the biggest problem is the school run says Bob And actually when you think about it when you compare your your run into work or wherever you're going on a day when the schools are open and on a school holiday day. Very different experiences are they out 302-4041 way or you. Are Ariel 29 minutes to a morning B.B.C.'s 6 on Monday let's get the breakfast news headlines with Sanju Watson thank you Ian good morning investigations are continuing this morning. Military will struggle to keep up with other countries without more investment general cynic Will points out that Russia has already demonstrated its capabilities in long range strikes and cyber warfare and latest figures show drivers in Southend spend about 30 hours a year in rush hour traffic jams in Chelmsford the average is around 23 hours the issue will be highlighted in a new inside out investigation on the b.b.c. Tonight the weather for Essex some rain around this morning that will soon clear for a mainly Droit de force today with some bright or sunny spells developing later highs up to knowing degrees Celsius that's 48 in football. Elsewhere Southend United suffered a late postponements at Rochdale on Saturday the blaze much was cooled off at 1230 with many fans having already arrived the Braintree town manager Brad Quinten is urging his team to go on a good run meanwhile they conceded a last minute winner in it see one home defeat to Hemel Hempstead on Saturday a missed the chance to close the gap on the leaders Dartford Quinten says he'll ensure his young son. I'd learn from that we have to do what we can do and I'm going to a very very good run simple in that we you know concentrate on these mistakes and it's costing the young boys in the aware of how you win games or you win ugly so I'll keep on keep on coaching and keep on manage him and we'll have a good season to the Premier League now in hurricane scored his 23rd league old this season but Spurs could only draw 11 with Southampton at St Mary's they stay 5th in the table this morning with saints still in the bottom 32 points from safety bottom club Swanzy host Liverpool at 8 o'clock tonight snow you can now and more Cullen became the 1st Northern Irishman since Dennis Taylor in 1987 to win the Masters sneaker beats color in Wilson 10 frames to 7 the B.B.C.'s Jamie Broughton was watching it's 31 years since Dennis Taylor won the Masters in 40 since Alex Higgins 1st claim the title and now Mark Allen joins that list of great champions from Northern Ireland he was the former player all week with victories over Ronnie O'Sullivan and John Higgins to savor before having to beat Carl Wilson who deserves great credit for his performance in the final Alan admitted afterwards he started to doubt if he'd ever win a Triple Crown event but this could be a big breakthrough moment is next big target isn't qualifying for the China Open but an exhibition in Belfast tonight and that performance should guarantee a sell out crowd on Ice Hockey in the chance for chieftain secured 2 out of 4 points in their double header they lost 64 to slouch jets on Saturday before an 113 victory over Swindon Wildcats last night and in basketball the Essex blades women lost out to local rivals Ipswich heaps in the National League Cup Final the blades had been 17 points up but the hips came back to secure a 6758 victory in the blades in the hopes yet. On the thank you we were talking about Rod Stewart's house and his mansion he wants to sell it and he's dropped the price by another 1000000 he's moved it off so it's now. Only 5950000 for this match in Epping we were saying if we could get him some advice for you know a sale Gareth on the e-mail says morning he's got lots of G.'s on that morning none if he wants a quick sale he could take a page out of the b.h. S. Book and sell it for a quid says Sarah I think yes we had offered if a bargain think of the running costs though perhaps he could depersonalize towards the house. So you could meet him and then look around the property and then you might be more likely to buy it maybe I don't know if you're in there in that league of houses seeing a little bit. More of the viewing experience 302-4041 thank you Sania thank you Gareth and your e-mails this morning I've just noticed quite a few about traffic jams as well so I will get to those on the show this morning Wyatt at b.b.c. Dot co dot U.K.'s my address. Read it to you why it. Is p.c. . 23 minutes to 8 it's sad occurrence on b.b.c. Essex but we're often telling you of deaths on the county's roads but what impact did these tragedies have on the families involved just after Christmas in 2016 teenage passengers Reaganites and Liam Phillips died in a road crash in Leon c. It happened during a police pursuit Essex Police initially said that class a drugs were found on the driver of the car 2 days later that was corrected the Independent Police Complaints Commission upheld a complaint from the families but couldn't find how the incorrect information was included the same investigation cleared the police of any wrongdoing in the pursuit or Reagan in Liam's mums are Shelley Knight and you'll hear 1st from Cindy Phillips who started by. Telling me how they died as far as the news reports are concerned there was a police pursuit and. Our sons got caught up in the title and their facts and the fact the 2 in the front of the car survived this you know and our sons lost their lives surely someone Reagan died instantly and limb died around 25 hours later in the Roland hospital how well did they know each other surely. Reagan and Liam are very very close. Especially since. As far as where where the 2. Passengers just quite unseasoned I wasn't good friends which went out there into the media. They knew each other but that if it wasn't best friends the events of the evening led to quite an outpouring from the local community Shelley what was the reaction. I've loved by everybody that knew them. Obviously there were some. People that it's cruel Knoxy comments on such meteor and comments on newspaper pokes in cos the boys but I didn't know the voice a lot of those negative comments came from the fact that the boys were wrongly accused by Essex police of having class a drugs you have with him when he died in the pursuit that's right how damaging was that at the time in your inner city Well I the following day with Reagan dying instantly the same followed it with Shelley being at home except except her I mean the role on the hospital the whole of the next day and we're waiting for him to pass that's that's the news that we have is that he is going to die so a lot of this was unfolding without my knowledge I didn't look at any comments at all and I've got to know each other more deeply recently if that makes sense in their waiter and. It's the shock that already you know the 1st and I to cations to the press are around there's already one boy deceased and he is 9 and what stunned me learning about all this sort of retrospective This mentions is that people can actually take the time to put comments against the boys you know 11 boy's past the other boys dying at this point but still people can put what they did to the good outweighed the By had in sort of proportion my 7030 psi but still you have a 30 percent where people would say another 2 junkies off the road you know I've heard of quotes like bats or thing and my problem here and honestly probably feels the same here is that you know these are. The the vehicle is placed there by the media which allows people to do this and allowing comments and such a sensitive subject I think is wrong you know I think there should be some sort of consideration as to the sort of articles that are going to go out there to the public and then when they. Allow the comments to be open to the public and then you get this situation arising which was absolutely appalling you know with the good the good was so good but the bad was just dreadful and the bad part of being people that didn't know you always yes and there was no class a drugs that was a mistake and you complain to the Independent Police Complaints Commission who uphold your your complaint have Essex police ever apologize for putting our own name ation nothing they meet in their mistake or early on there was so small article that was placed in the paper I can only saw a photograph with that particular autograph that made sense but nothing we've never had any contact with him at all does an apology matter to you Cindy yes it's the families affected by the state you know the fallout from the. The statement being issued by the police and the friends of the boys as well you know everybody hurt because of this you know the loss itself alongside. You know coping with our grief if that makes sense alongside the the venom that was trying to you know show it to the boys if that makes sense you know both now deceased at this point as well so it was shocking. As the time has passed Shelley I can tell it's still very difficult to talk about and naturally it would be how has the year being for you. Tucker you cannot. You cannot describe you I still cannot describe how this is made me fear and I you know we talk a lot about it anyway we're there for each other. Every time. I visit him where he's buried and I still can't believe he's there you know the story. Take it I gone through life without them and all the potential that they had We'll never know and that's the hope it i should we should not have to bury our sons the driver of the car was 16 yeah he's in custody yes not really a prison is it he's in custody but he's actually attending mainstream college so he's actually allowed to attend public college it's not an on site facility this is outside in the known world if that makes sense there so how does that make you feel appalled because they killed my son before I could finish his college course so that's I've got a problem with that you know. It's disgusting. He has lots of privileges Yes you lost your privileges. Apparently to sigh. We know that he's not in a young offenders institute where education is provided on saw it we know that he sees in a training center we choose why apparently asked to come off site say to attend a college up to 3 days away quit out. He also was allowed tell me he sits on supervised. But with his family him much in our anger it's astonishing what we've learned about this whole process you know with this event and what it's done to our lives and then how the the system seemingly protects the perpetrator here and there's no real to me there's no real difference to terror and here you know Ok I understand a level of rehabilitation has to take place with these things but so early on in his sentences he actually got 2 years custody followed by 2 years on license and and they were into already introducing these I call them privileges I mean whether they refer to or not I don't know but that's how they made me feel I would have hoped that any education he received if not on site would have been. He could attend during his time on license because it's time they're not on license that he's not on the streets during buying other cars etc So you know we've we've raised all this with the probation service as well so we have a Victim Support team that's supporting us as well and feeding us information around you know think changes with the driver and what he's doing in custody as well you know the sort things he's making requests to attend college accept or we get advised at those as well and we are asked to comment on that when asked to comment so but whatever we say makes not a jot difference you know it's just shocking. We are the the voices of Cindy Phillips and Shelley Knight speaking publicly for the 1st time since their boys Reagan and Liam died in the back of that car that crashed just after Christmas in 2016 the latest statement that we have from Essex police regarding this by the way they say We apologize to the families of Reaganites and Liam Phillips before the i.p.c.c. Or now known as the i o. P.c. Investigation concluded for misleading information being inadvertently released to the public at the time of the collision we explained that we acted in good faith and on the information available to us and issued a correction as soon as we were made aware of the issue our thoughts remain with their families following their tragic deaths. You're listening to b.b.c. Essex It's 14 minutes to write. C.d.c. And 6 travel Russell Howard ng here with an update on the roads on the rails for us morning yes in the end Levon still has a link close South Bend there's an accident part way between junctions 9 and 8 so from the aisle Evan to the Bishop's Stortford stands today airport it's over a 3rd of the way but it isn't halfway down sit somewhere in between that and the queue is back to junction 911 so that several miles and then just before junction 5 it Lauzon down to the North Circular and $25.00 so looks busy in patches towards and past junction $26.25 stretch after an accident earlier on all sorts a little bit anticlockwise as you approach a pass junction 29 the turn for the a one to 7 Otherwise most of the others are fairly normal 817 civil heading and going towards House did culture strode into houses busy in the usual days round the Braintree bypass looks on the a 12 towards London looks servery busy just coming well where they want 20 in the 12 meet at the Crown interchange they're both very busy towards there and then it so from a task going to mark Stapleton the Kelvin bypass looks pretty slow and then just start amount netting that you should I towards the m $25.00 a one to 7 looks rather slow getting away from Kent Holmes corner to progress road and then past really where and then a bit further along before you get to the old and stretch really looks big easy coming towards. It would say 176 I suppose then it eases and slows down again Dunson while it and through the road works our old word a 13 again usual bits looking busy round Stamford I hope and through going to marry you she lies there and on the trains that look around today actually the next update is in half an hour Ok thank you are so. Keeping you informed when it matters c.d.c. Essex travel. Talking of in a moment on B.B.C.'s express 1st the weather why. Days though it's good news actually because no snow here some parts of the country been affected more than us over the weekend and the overnight rain in the south of the county will soon we might get some sunny spells today full forecast with Kate can sell it coming up in 10 minutes B.B.C.'s it's Wednesday support what is your comprehensive weekly roundup of the school scene here in Essex. Is everything from rugby we were unfortunate we got a yellow card we went down to 14 men and they scored true converted tries in the time and pressure and super high to do so you just fail to get them is no big deal she says it was just. Before we have just lost my 2 gymnastics and squash please she won a silver medal in the world double ships with my mix partner so singles was sure I could be anyone on the dice so to say I like B.B.C.'s Exum Wednesday's school boards with Guillen's Wednesday evenings from 7 on b.b.c. Essex It's amazing how many sports they pack into that hour 7 o'clock on Wednesday evening so just before we talk of let's talk traffic because we're finding out just how congested our roads are 30 hours is the average time a South End driver will spend in traffic each year one caller we had earlier said 30 a 30 hours a year you're joking it's more like 30 hours a month but I suppose on average taking on average because some people that don't drive in rush hour or drive very much of course wouldn't spend much time so the average is 30 hours for chumps for it's 23 hours on average spent queuing in traffic jams per year so how are the roads near you how congested are they and if you were in charge what would you did ease that congestion 03024041 Jackie in Co Chester says if the council wants to use public transport more they should stop cutting bus services well. You know bus services are an issue and a lot of them operated by private companies they're not going to operate buses that aren't viable are they so if we don't use the buses Kemi really expect them to operate half empty buses. But that the council subsidy which they do get as well sometimes 03024041 Thanks Jackie if we got to you know take a stand and use the buses more to you know supply and demand and all of that. Knight says Why do all politicians speak about green space the world is running out of fertile land estimates say in 50 years they'll be insufficient land to feed human populations stop building on farmland says an intelligent Knights. And says is too much building on farm lands full stop of course we know the level of house building is contributing to the traffic situation in black not he says 10 or more years ago we had a survey on the a 120 planned routes were displayed in village halls for public scrutiny and comment we've just gone through the same exercise again why stop the talking and do it says Peter in black not really referring to the plans for the proposed new Julian of the a 120 from Braintree to coach. 302-4841 we'll go back to some of your calls about traffic on the program after 8 o'clock but but did you notice this over the weekend pop superstar Ed Sheeran has announced his engagement to childhood sweethearts Cherry seaborne are many of his ballads were inspired by his wife to be by the way we wondered how often partners meet at school and stay together is is where the dating in our drive for careers over marriage meaning fewer couples stay together longer Well I'm joined by Brant word psycho therapist and relationship therapist Jennifer Good grief Jennifer that some title isn't it. It is yes I suppose that there is currently. I am also conscious and the mental health is a combination of qualifications absolutely Well you're well suited then to talk to us about this then and you know I'm wondering whether fewer couples are are meeting like this now is Ed in Cherry an unusual tale. I think my impression is with people who come through the door for therapy that. Often Now the meetings happen online social media seems to play a big part in and often there's an avoidance of direct communications online that I see chips initially particularly school school relationships seems to be certainly in that is more of the middle class area seems to be less in terms of the focus is on record Damia. Try time for love in the playground no secure employment so early money opportunities. And driving children in this middle class area to the point where nothing is good enough you know even if you're achieving all they start still you know you're not quite getting there in terms of academia so I think it is quite different in areas perhaps where there's greater positive where. Marriage and having children can be a way out of a difficult situation but even so I mean what Wherever You Are these days youngsters seem to be under more pressure in terms of tests and the age that they have to be tested on this and test it on why is there is there a feeling then that they're so busy with education that you know girlfriends and boyfriends in the playground not quite so prevalent these days. Probably yes I think yes and I think a culture where to some extent Poland has become the norm that there's often a lot of disappointments in real life relationships and worry about sexual formants and. Not being confident in your own abilities and self-esteem lades deficits. Any any evidence to suggest a childhood sweetheart romance like like Ed Sheeran's is more likely to last than internet dating one I think certainly they direct you to fear to be different in terms of you know why people get to know each other the sharing of hobbies interests and sharing of a social group. You know similar tastes and interests and sort of motivation overall in terms of what what the couple want to achieve. And if that isn't so down by poverty in terms of getting married too young and having children too quickly I think the overall trend is on getting married later and that's what the evidence suggests that we have children later and instead of the 7 year itch the 7 year swap around these things are not satisfactory so people tend to look around and try and find someone else with the hope that the grass is greener on the other side intially lives and a final thought we often hear that Christmas is one of the most stressful times for for relationships do you see more cases at this time of year or people struggling. Yes definitely yes since Christmas I would say the the large large number of my thoughts have been with marital problems and stresses associated with lack of communication on overspending and precious. Precious in relation to that getting into debt. And just enforce closeness over the holiday period seems to create a lot of arguments Tench lay where there's dissatisfaction and satisfaction in the nations and not the sort of the norm in terms of going to work with other people doing other interests which which tense and which perhaps to which the relationship when people return together at the end of a working there Ok a broke word psycho therapist and relationship therapist Jennifer rooks joining us from Brentwood Thank you Jennifer 302-4041 I wonder if that's your experience whether these childhood sweetheart relationships have a deeper depth a deeper depth a broader depth or you know what I mean deeper than meeting online any experiences did you get together with your childhood sweetheart 302-4041 of course or Best wishes to ed sheeran and to Cherry seaborne Honestly some people have it all don't they they can sing they complain instruments they can write music they are pots of money they even have a childhood sweetheart honestly I k. It's the spice of life apparently thank you for your text and you calls regarding how congested our roads are one big problem in Chelmsford says lies is the poor synchronization of the consecutive sets of traffic lights on park quite. Try saying . All of these lights you know that the. Straight pedestrian crossing and then the new London road lights the pedestrian lights also sometimes red for so long up to 3 minutes it causes huge queues over the fly over. And there's a underpass there isn't there I remember once saying to somebody from the council why not make underpasses more attractive and then you know you need fewer sets of pedestrian lights crossing the road from you why don't we use on the passes. His radio station. Use is the B.B.C.'s thinks.
