The effects of the explosions were felt within a 1 kilometer radius with many windows, buildings and residences shattered in the area. It is a small fishing and residential town. Its hospitals were not equipped to deal with an accident of this scale. Many of the injured had to be transported to the capital 70 kilometers away. The state is also amidst elections.
