Donald trump is in the lead with nearly 31 . Senator marco rubio has surnld into second place with 16 . Texas senator ted cruz and john kasich are close behind. Our correspondent michael shaw joins us live. Good evening to you michael. So lets first talk trump. This will be his first debate since he boycotted the last one and then he lost in iowa. Do you think we are going to see maybe a different possibly more humble donald trump on that stage tonight . Good evening to you. I dont think the words humble and donald trump are ever uttered together. You may see a donald trump who is much more direct in his criticism, also maybe in explaining why he thinks that he is doing better than others think he is doing, but he will be going after marco rubio. Marco rubio came a lot closer to donald trump in iowa than donald trump had hoped. So i think youre going to see a regularly engaged donald trump and maybe a little bit of the sort of what weve gotten used to, a couple of the singers. You will see a reinvigorated candidate staying with marco rubio, he has been climbing up in the polls to second place now. There is a new poll that shows that while u. S. Republicans want trump, marco rubio is best to compete in the general election. What do you make of that . Yes. A lot of these polls, marco rubio is having a lift, people are starting to say how will he do against Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders. Very hard to rely on those polls. What marco rubio did was exceed expectation new zealand iowa. This sends them to New Hampshire with more energy than he may have otherwise had had. Here is what happens. Now people expect him to do very well. If he doesnt make that 20 thresh hold and jeb bush or john kasich do better and that comes to the expense of marco rubio, people will question whether he can take it on. He got two endorsements, from his old competitors, but he has to prove himself here and then prove that he can go the distance. I think thats going to be a problem. Jeb bush has money. He is going to be in this race no matter what happens what about Carly Fiorina, we are not going to be seeing her on the stage. She is very upset about this. Yet ben carson is going to be out on that stage, even though his polling is actually lower than hers when you look specifically at New Hampshire. Is there any way for her to fight for a spot on that stage at this point . I know you spent some time after up here in New Hampshire covering this. When youre here you feel a bit more energy for Carly Fiorina than in other parts of the country. You feel for her. Ben carson according to abc, they wanted the top finishers in iowa. So the top finishers in iowa, ben carson got 9. 3 of the vote, it wasnt in the top three but good enough for abc. He is the top six in polling. If you look back to 2008 and 4, there were regularly eight people on the debate stage. So Carly Fiorina saying why do we have to limit it now, we have culled some of that after iowa, we should all be on the stage. She may have a point but she is not going to be on the stage at least of right now one person that we havent touched on is the guy who won in iowa here, ted cruz. What do we expect from him tonight . I expect him to lower expectations as his campaign has done. This is not the natural place for ted cruz to do well. It is not a very religious state. New hampshire prides itself, and i dont know how they measure this, as the least religious state in the country. It makes it difficult for ted cruz. However he did win iowa and heap didnt just eke it out as Hillary Clinton did against Bernie Sanders. Ted cruz won and the reason that he won was he appealed to those types of voters, ran a very tight campaign, a targeted campaign. He tried to do that in New Hampshire. If he finishes in second, he will sell that as a victory, but there are three running against him and New Hampshire always looking towards to what they can do to make a difference in that cape. Ted cruz is not a candidate that they will put up, but he will be in this race for a little while who do you think is going to win tonight . Tomorrow night . I think the panthers. No, tonight. Im going to have to say that i think that what youre going to see tonight is youre going to see energy out of these three governors. Jeb bush has a chance to do things that he hasnt done before. He had his mother up here talking to voters. He is trying to show that bushes can do well here, even though george w lost to john mccaine here. I think he will exceed expectations, but i dont see him winning the race. I think it will go to donald trump i am with you, go panthers. Thank you for that. Hillary clinton served as president obamas first secretary of state and today she got an endorsement from the first woman to hold that title. We can tell our story about how we climb the ladier. A lot of you women dont think you have to it has been done. Its not done. You have to help Hillary Clinton will always be there for you and just remember, there is a special place in hell for women who dont help each other strong words. The female vote is critical to clinton. Another poll shows that the democratic race is tied, 44 of voters support clinton while Bernie Sanders has 42. The difference is within the margin of error there. Clinton used to have a 31 point lead back in december. To talk more about why clinton seems to be losing ground with women voters is a professor of Campaign Management and our political contributor. Thank you for joining us tonight good to see you good to see you. Lets first talk numbers real quick here. Back in january the polls showed amongst Democratic Women 55 behind behind clinton 39 sanders, but theyre actually now splitting the vote. How big of a problem is this for Hillary Clinton . This is a big problem for her. In large part it explains Bernie Sanderss rise. As you mentioned in the National Polls he is now within two Percentage Points within the margin of error. A good deal of that can be explained by the increases he has made among women, particularly among younger women where he is doing incredibly well, and among young menace well. Looking at the polls in iowa, Hillary Clinton doing very well with older voters. So that split really explains in large part why he is coming up on her so strong. Into you talk about young women. In iowa they voted for Bernie Sanders by a margin of six to one in the last tell advised town hall Hillary Clinton commented on that. She called it amazing, right, that those numbers are so serious. Do you think that its amazing that the margin is so big . Why isnt she resonating with these young women . She seemed taken aback by the numbers and they are striking. I think part of the reason is she is not resonating with young people in large part because this Progressive Movement within the Democratic Party and Bernie Sanders has really captured the imagination and the energy of a lot of young people, young women included. It is very difficult for her to get that momentum. A lot of people are explaining it because he is appealing to the heart and she is appealing to the mind. There may be some truth to that when she ran back in 2008 she was much more subdaud about being the subdued about being the first president woman. Now lets listen a woman running to be the first woman president ial as exemplifying the establishment. Ive got to tell you, it is really quite amusing to me so the establishment aspect of this statement aside, some women voters said after that, that they were offended that she made that comment saying that she is essentially using her gender to garner votes. What do you make of that . Its a very tough case for her to make. Its a case that has to be made by surrogate. Thats why the clip you played is so important. She needs surrogates, she neerdz supporters to go out there and appeal to women. She cannot be making that case on her own because female voters are offended to a certain extent. Weve seen in this in past research, when the appeal is strictly on a gender basis. She cant make the case surrogates have to make it, but its an important point to remind people and thats what i thought what was said so important she does have the support from a lot of important women including many democratic female congress women. Do you think that she would get a boost if Elizabeth Warren came out . I think so, but not because of her gender but as this progressive icon, leader in the Democratic Party. That would be a big endorsement thank you so much for joining us thanks authorities in california are focusing on recovering the wreckage of two planes that crashed over the agency. It happened friday night. Somali Officials Say a suicide bomber was behind an explosion on a passenger jet to mogadishu last week. 75 passengers were on board. I dont plan to leave because if activists leave, who will make sure people trapped inside. Reporter theres no official statistics on how many people live on the eastern side of the city under the control of the opposition. Some figures suggest there are up to 300,000. Reporter many in the opposition ranks feel the government is employing a tactic, laying siege and leading fighters in submission. People were forced to surrender homs. At the time the opposition didnt lose hope because they still controlled aleppo the heart of the revolution. Easy access to turkey, a supporter of the rebels, gave them a lifelong. The virus is blamed for at least three deaths. In the government is freezing the price of contraceptives. In brazil doctors say it has been found in the saliva and urine of patients. With celebrations underway, famous for street parties, with the tradition of people kissing, they should be precautious translation people should be careful using all measures that exist so people will be able to enjoy acarnival with fewer kisses and sexual encounters while most countries in the region are in crisis mode, guatemala has been slow. Our correspondent reports on the response in guatemala city. Reporter inside a house in Guatemala Health workers spray for mosquitos. A few doors away a suspected case was reported. Fumigation and inspecting homes for standing water where the mosquitos breed is an easy is not easy when people dont understand the importance of the work. Translation sometimes people wont let us into their houses because of the level of insecurity in guatemala. The participation is low. Reporter so far 105 cases of zika have been confirmed in guatemala, but while countries like colombia have stepped up their Public Awareness campaigns, guatemala hasnt. In the Public Hospitals and Health Clinics that we visited, there were no leaflets or posters with information about zika inside. The Health Ministry told al jazeera they dont have the resources to pay for such printed materials. It was only this week that a zika alert appeared on the main page of the ministrys web side. Translation here in the hospital there is no information, also there are mayors offices everywhere an they should hand out information and fumigate like they used to. Reporter hospital staff say they rely on patient visits to get the word out by zika translation people who have symptoms can come to a Health Center without creating a panic. Medical staff can determine if its a suspicious case and then ru out that it is not zika virus. Reporter analysts worry if the number of zika cases were to reach levels seen in other countries, guatemala would be unable to cope. Translation the Health System is not prepared to prevent this type of situation or to tackle zika if it becomes pandemic. Corruption has clearly had an impact on Government Resources and its capacity to deal with these kinds of situations. Reporter with people in more than half of guatemalas 22 departments at risk from zika, the danger is there. The question is how the government will respond if the threat becomes a reality. David mercer joining me now is dr alexander garzer, the associate dean for public hepth practice at sate st louis university. What precautions is the government faking to protect against the spread of this virus . It is all of the precautions that youve heard from the cdc. Theres a couple of different way to protect the population from a virus such as zika. One is controlling the mosquito population. Increasing the amount of either fumigation or making sure that standing water, which is what mosquitos need to breed, is not left standing around, use iing pesticid pesticides. Also using skin protection, long sleeves and staying in doors behind screens in air conditioning. The third level is the recommendation for travel, particularly for the at risk population which is pregnant females, making sure that they dont travel to countries that are endimic for the disease. The last one is unprotected sex. So making sure that males that travel to countries that have the zika virus, that they practice protected sex, particularly if they have a partner that is pregnant from a Public Health perspective how much of a threat is this virus going to become for the u. S. . It stale remains to be seen. People have to remember, though, that the u. S. Is much different than central and south america. I think the piece that you had previously about guatemala shed some light on that, where there is poor infrastructure to protect the population. In u. S. , particularly in areas where there has been problems with the mosquitos in the past, there is very aggressive plans that have been done year in and year out to control the mosquito population. So i think what we will probably see is we will probably see some sporadic isolated outbreaks, but it would be difficult to say that there would be prolonged or sustained outbreak within the u. S. Such as weve seen in our southern borders what do you make of the reports that the virus is found in iron and saliva samples in brazil even telling pregnant women to avoid kissing during carnivale . Thats, again, a new wrinkle in the decease. Were learning something new every day. I guess i would caution that just because we find the virus in the saliva and the urine doesnt mean that that is the means of transmitting the virus. I think it would be a very difficult Public Health measure to institute to tell people during carnival not to kiss, but certainly i think everyone is in a heightened state of awareness now. So part of that leads to some of these recommendations that until we know more, being careful is the prudent measure all right. Thank you so much. Thank you up next the people behind the president ial hopefuls. A look at the candidates. The first games in paris since the november attacks.
