Now that the Knights Templar have largely disappeared, the government is telling the vigilantes to stand down. Once registered vigilantes can keep their gun, but starting that saturday they can no longer patrol. They have to be folded into a new police force. We are going to keep working as rural police and defense forces. We are the people legal and uniformed. The security commissioner says anyone patrolling without official authority will be arrested. Translation from my level any selfdefence member carrying a gun, patrolling or ridding the streets of criminals without being in an official uniform or the authority from the state will be detained. Some selfdefence units are wary of disarming, especially in light of reports that a new cartel is forming from the ashes of the Knights Templar. Earlier this year they were entangled in an open war. Some called it a failed state. Fearing they could lose their guns, thousands have chosen to follow the governments plan. After operating for so long outside the law, vigilantes are putting their faith in it. Scenes of mutual trust between the army and vigilantes was unthinkable. Stepping away from the registration they are sitting for competency tests. More than 2,000 have applied. Researchers in new zealand have found a simple but effective exercise plan they say could help hundreds of millions of type 2 diabetes sufferers. Reporter millions of people in the world suffer type 2 diabetes, and have trouble regulating insulin, a hormone that provides energy to cells, affecting sugar levels in the blood. Exercise is an important part of engining the condition. A typical recommendation is 30 minutes of exercise. A study revealed how the exercise can be most effective. Researchers at a university tracked blood sugar levels during different intensities of regulation walking. Some days subjects did 30 minutes of walking before dinner, other days six onemint bursts of high intensity exercise three times a day, half a day before a meal. Highintensity bursts were effective, reducing insulin. Activated by exercise the muscles better ab sorbed sugar in the blood. We have a meal and blood sugar levels go up. The muscle its a large tissue in the body. Thats able to take glucose up and under control. For a period of hours after the exercise. Athletes long timed their exercise and eating to maximise their absorption of sugars. The study showed the same principle works when applied to people with type 2 diabetes. The Research Team is looking at the effects of other forms of exercise and the longtime effects of different work outs, saying the findings underscore the importance of timing and intensity of exercise and should be considered by those suffering or vulnerable to type 2 diabetes to return to the top story the appearance of the russian president in crimea. We are joined by the crimean port of sevastopol. Why has putin gone there today . The referee well, i think its clear for the tens of thousands hoping to see him, expecting to see him, that this was putting a seal on russias control of crimea. Sevastopol is them some of the black fleet. When Vladimir Putin arrived here, he sailed past some of those ships before giving an address, in which he said to people it was an historic year in the history of this place. He said that basically the Russian Federation and people here are now going to face their problems together. In other words russia will look after you. Of course, in march there was a referendum here. It was controversial but it said that people wanted to split from ukraine and join russia. Thats what happened. Ukranian troops left the area and this was a huge military celebration of which Vladimir Putin attended, saluting the ships and paying tribute. We shouldnt forget two people that lost their lives. We saw thousand coming out of the celebrations and they were pleased to see Vladimir Putin. But there is another section of society, all those not keen on being annexed by russia. What were their feelings today . Its an interesting point. Everyone here was elated at the military parade and that they are getting a lot of attention. Some feel they have been neglected under economic ukraine. We have spoken in the last couple of days to members of the minority groups like the tatars, who that they are worried about what will happen to rights they have enshrined under ukraine. They want to know whether theyll keep their representation, special groups which was a Council Running or representing the tatar population. There was genuine joy to see the russian president on the streets of sevastopol, reflected in what people were saying, with peoples thought being in Eastern Ukraine, as some tried to breakaway, its a controversial point with the minority groups, with the general public, they are on the side of the socalled prorussian separatists in ukraine. You mentioned Eastern Ukraine at the moment, going under volatile staples. Theres a lot of chaos and violence. Has the situation there been calm since it was annexed . It has. I was talking to someone earlier. A year ago you would have seen a sizeable presence on the street. He was relieved that the situation was calmer. He had links to the Tourism Industry and said that the fact that its now calm will hopefully attract people who were put off by the fact that there was uncertainty and unrest in the region. This is very much part of the Russian Federation, and he people like him are stressing that they want people to know that its a calm, Peaceful Place where people hopefully start to see their economic livelihood improve as well. That report live from sevastopol, in recently annexed crimea. Thank you very much. Former italian Prime MinisterSilvio Berlusconi has finished his first day of Community Service. He arrived at the hospice karl alzner patients in alzheimers patient and left having completed his first day of work. Hes been ordered to work there once a week for a year. We are joined live from millan. What do we know about what the former Prime Minister was doing at the hospice . The referee well reporter well, we know that hes participating in a programme where he takes part in exercise for Senior Citizens affected by alzheimers, like riding, reading, playing games and motor activities for them. The first day he would have looked at what the other staff were doing, because obviously people these are people affected by alzheimers at a late stage. Its difficult to be trusted by Senior Citizens in that condition. The first time, like today, he will have to just watch. And then its not clear what he will exactly do hands on, but what we know is that he said in the last few days that he hopes these experiences will enrich him. Certainly it hasnt enriched his political forces. Hes the leader of the Biggest Political Party in the center right coalition here in italy, and he hopes that he will gain as much as 20 in the next European Election. This is Silvio Berlusconi that arrived didnt aanything because hes not allowed to say anything, stayed the four hours he was required to stay, not longer, as expected. He said that he had a prize for everybody that we havent heard about, so he may have a delay for the next time he comes here, which is next friday how interested are italians in him and this surprise that he has for them . Well, they are really interested because Silvio Berlusconi is a man who has many surprises and had many surprises in the past. Some good, some bad for the italians. Italians are, once again, all the time when Silvio Berlusconi is involved, divided. Some believe his mantra, which is that the judiciary system is conspiring against him, and this, the centres for tax that let to Community Service was a way to get rid of him since nobody managed in the past to get rid of him politically speaking in the past 20 years, while others say that this is what he deserves. Even more, where others are angry that he is only allowed to get away with it, when others say he should go to prison. This is a reduced sentence for tax fraud that he was found guilty of. What other charges is he facing . Well, he still is a defendant in the trial where hes accused of having sex with an underage prostitute, ruby the heart stealer. He was found guilty and given a 7 years prison sentence. Much higher than the tax sentence he was given last year. Now, of course, he has the right to wait for the appeal that we will expect at some stage this year, and then, of course, he needs to go to the constitutional court, the Supreme Court in italy before it is upheld. Even though he sales through the Community Service for the next 12 months, his problems are not over. Thank you very much for joining us there with the latest from milan.
