CHATHAM — Trans-Atlantic rower Guirec Soudée is roughly at the halfway point of his crossing from Chatham to France.
Soudée left from Chatham on June 15 and has now been at sea for 50 days. The last update on his GPS position was five days ago and placed him as having traveled 1,545 miles with an estimated 1,579 miles to go.
Soudée is an adventurer who rowed west to east across the Atlantic in December — from the Canary Islands to the Caribbean -- in 74 days. In 2013, at the age of 20, he sailed solo from France to the Caribbean then back to South Africa, around South America and up the West Coast to become the youngest person to navigate the Northwest Passage.
